Back 4 Blood — это вам не Left 4 Dead 2. Впечатления от открытой беты

Начало было предсказуемо… Сервера лягли в момент начала беты. На следующий день получилось таки запустить кампанию и сыграть в компании друзей. Проходить мы решили сразу на самом сложном. Позже начали играть на средней сложности ибо понимали, что за время открытой беты мы её банально не успеем пройти.

Содержание

Атмосфера

При запуске Left for Dead каждый раз мне предлагали посмотреть вступительный ролик. Т.э разработчики позаботились о том чтобы погрузить новоприбывшего в эту вселенную. Диалоги, персонажи, зомби — все выглядит цельно в ролике. В бете Back 4 Blood почему-то познакомить меня с миром посчитали лишним и я посмотрел его лишь после прохождения 1 Акта.

Left for Dead 1

Во вступительном ролике Left for Dead видешь историю, в этом 5-минутном ролике ты уже переживаешь за героев. Да что рассказывать, просто сравните эти вступительный ролик Left for Dead 1 и Back 4 Blood:

Back for Blood

В вступительном ролике Back 4 Blood вроде все сделано похоже: 4 героя, зомби, показ способностей особых зараженных… Но оно выглядит без души.

В ролике нет диалогов, не чувстуется реальность происходящего. Я не особо понимаю кто эти персонажи ибо их внешность и образы размыты и ничего мне не говорят. На этом перейдем к разбору персонажей.

Персонажи

Наиболее серых и безликих персонажей трудно найти. Мы ничего не знаем о этих персонажах. В сравнении в том же Left for Dead 1-2 были хорошо сделанные вступительные ролики, которые знакомили нас с этим миром, этими персонажами. Тут ничего подобного нет. Игра переносит нас сразу в лагерь неизвестно кем и когда построенный. Как мы туда попали? Где мы? С кем сражаемся? На это ответов не ждите — «Вон палатка. Дуй на вылазку! За чем не знаю. Куда не знаю, просто брысь с лагеря!

При запуске игры нет ни вводного ролика об этих персонажах, ничего. При старте уровня ничего нет объясняющего происходящее и нашу цель. Даже диалоги персонажей пустые.

Оружие дальнего боя

Оружие специально урезали. Я так понимаю для того чтобы нельзя было в одиночку завалить особого зараженного.
Ничего плохого тут не вижу, игра в команде, все дела, но можно было это визуализировать на оружии, что оно действительно имеет обойму на 20-25 патронов. Выглядит еще одной халтурой.

Оружие ближнего боя

Выглядит это нелепо, сами представьте — вы видите персонажа с тяжелым пулеметом в руках, которого свалили с ног зомби.
Он уже не может сражатся в полную силу, ему не хватает сил встать, да что встать он уже даже пулемет держать не может… И тут он берет пожарный топор… и начинает лежа махать им ака БЕРСЕРК.

Боеприпасы, гаджеты, гранаты

Магазин в стартовой комнате

Карты, колоды и способности персонажей

Каждый персонаж обладает уникальными способностями как в Warhammer Vermintide 2 выраженными в одной карточке усиливающей как его, так и команду и дающийся в самом начале. В самом начале у нас есть стартовая колода карт состоящая из модификаторов или же лучше сказать перков для персонажа. При старте уровня нам выдается одна карта из колоды случайно и список из 5 случайных карт на выбор из колоды.

В зависимости от старта количество стартовых карт меняется. Покупать карты можно у другого NPC в форте за очки снабжения, которые дают за прохождение уровней. К сожалению, карты с каждым разом даются все сильней и сильней. Например, при покупке всей стартовой ветки открываются еще 3: на стрелка, медика и бегуна.

Так вот, первая карта на стрелка давала мне 5% урона и 50% к проникновению моих пуль, а после скупки этой ветки появилась такая же карта на 10% урона и уже увееличения проникновения пуль на 100%. Итог: чем больше играешь, тем у тебя будут круче карточки и тебе будет легче проходить.

Карты помех vs Режиссёр

В Left for Dead сложность уровня задавал „Режиссер“, искуственный интелект, который подстраивался под игроков давая им плюшки или же наоборот насылая на них больше врагов в зависимости от успеха команды. В Back 4 Blood вместо этого перед уровнем случайным образом выпадают модификаторы уровня.

Это могут быть как безобидные, так и сильно усложняющие игру карты. И ваше прохождение может чуть ли не целиком зависеть от них.

Один раз вам могут выпасть модификаторы отключающие электричество и одно испытание на быстрое прохождение уровня.
В другой раз на этом же уровне вам выпадет 6 карт модификаторов с отключением электричества, усилением зараженных и установкой, чуть ли не в каждую дверь сигнализации… Т.е. не игра подстраивается под вас, а вы под неё.

Что лучше… если режиссёр подтягивает игру под уровень команды, то карты помех более простой но тоже рабочий вариант разнообразить прохождение. Оба варианта хороши.

Тупые, кривые и обладающие суицидальными наклонностями. Могут одарить дружественным огнем, упасть в пропасть и занять пулемет напрочь отказавшись вести огонь по зараженным.

Враги

Уровни сложности

Первые уровни проходятся без всякого сопротивления. За счет наличия выносливости у персонажей команда не способна без дополнительного оборудования, будь-то гранаты или колючая проволка отбиватся от зомби на открытой местности или на участках с непрерывными ордами что заставляет команду всегда иметь с собой подобное снаряженные и бегать через весь уровень к магазину в стартовой комнате.

В игре нет оповещения что делать в ключевых событиях. Например, на 2 уровне появляется босс голем-огр от которого оказывается можно скрытся в тонеле, но об этом ничего не говорится. На предпоследнем уровне, где кран поднимает машину для того чтобы пройти дальше. Мы на воспоминаниях уровня с постройкой лестницы из зерна подумали что эта машина тоже будет подниматся долго забарикадировались в гараже рядом и как дураки отбивались от нескончаемой орды… Нас не оповестили ни звуком, ни сообщением о том что мы должны уже куда-то выдвигатся.

Механика начинает работать. Начав познавать игру именно на третьей сложности мы получили наибольшее количество впечатлений. Игра преображается. Теперь это не подделка Left for Dead, а больше GTFO.

Враги стали значительно сильней и многочисленней. Теперь в каждой орде есть минимум 3 особых зараженных, что практически всегда означало потерю некоторого количества здоровья. Важность снаряженния возросла в разы. Ведь именно оно позволяет нам получить или не получить вовсе повреждения в битве с ордой. За счет этого и того что нас не торопит режиссёр, урезано количество патронов в магазинах, есть выносливость и ктому же большинство битв происходит в малых помещениях мы начинаем действовать очень осторожно и неспеша изучать уровни.

Игра превращается в головоломку, с детальным продумыванием каждого действия, заучивания каждого уровня. В этом режиме по ощущениям выпадают более опасные карты помех значительно усложняющие прохождение и заставляющие быть очень осторожными на любом участке уровня.

Именно в него я рекомендую играть и начать ознакамливатся с игрой. Да, в начале вас будет игра бить кувалдой по голове за каждую ошибку, но она перестанет выглядить как жалкая поделка под Left for Dead и рогалик Warhammer Vermintide 2. В неё становится интересно играть, придумывать тактики, стратегии под тот или иной уровень и карты помех на нем. Я бы с радостью продолжил бы её проходить именно на этом уровне, если бы бета длилась дольше.

Заключение

Если сравнивать с Left for Dead 1-2 то Back for Blood жалкая поделка пытающияся в отсутствие чего-то нового заработать денег на фанатах Left for Dead. Первая и вторая сложность сделаны для сбора и фарма карточек, чтобы потом став супер сильными героями пойти на третий уровень и разносить там все как на 2 сложности.

Работает пока что только третья сложность. Всем советую начинать играть именно на ней, чтобы не воспринимать эту игру как продолжение Left for Dead, а как что-то иное, похожее, но другое.

Для тех, кто действительно хочет поиграть в улучшенный Left for Dead 2 я советую попробовать Warhammer Vermintide 2. В нем заложена таже механика что и в Left for Dead — режиссёр, монстры, боссы, события — все сохранено и перенесено в другую вселенную. Харизматичные герои, интересные диалоги, вступительный ролик… все сделано на уровне. Также интересная прокачка героев, открытие новых классов для них полностью меняющих стиль игры. Качественно сделанный рогалик.

Покупать ли эту игру?

Если любите хардкор и у вас есть трое единомышлеников — берите на распродаже, получите удовольствие на многие часы играя сразу на максимальной сложности. Если третья сложность останется прежней. Играть с друзьями, проходить уровень за уровнем действительно интересно. Все механики начинают работать. Может потребоватся не одна неделя, чтобы её ней пройти.

Blood For Love

This is the story of the life of Jan, a gifted male D’otian living on a violent, predatory planet. His mother Martha is part of a love-preservation network, outlawed by a world in which love is punished by DeathBT.

When the underground network attempts a daring escape into the poisoned wildlands, they inadvertently cause a catastrophic explosion.

The explosion draws the instant wrath of the now doomed NOV, the only remaining nation on D’ot. The escapees take off into the wildlands, with stolen vaccines that they need to survive out there. The wildlands are aptly named.

Jan is guided to a five thousand year old hidden temple, which holds treasures and knowledge never before seen. The escapees begin to hope for a brave new world of peace and freedom, but the NOV continues to haunt Jan’s dreams.

I LOVE reptilian-staring stories, it’s crazy how much of a fan I am, seriously! You know that sort of old series, Farscape? Well I was rooting for Scorpius, he was my most favorite character there, I sort of had like a reptilous-crush on him But I’m sure that hasn’t influenced my thoughts on Chris Finkelstein’s novel (well, ok, so it has, deal with it!)
Obviously, I was almost fangirling about it Ok, wow, where to start? Characters, I just have to say it: reptilians? Really, Chris? How could you? I LOVE reptilian-staring stories, it’s crazy how much of a fan I am, seriously! You know that sort of old series, Farscape? Well I was rooting for Scorpius, he was my most favorite character there, I sort of had like a reptilous-crush on him But I’m sure that hasn’t influenced my thoughts on Chris Finkelstein’s novel (well, ok, so it has, deal with it!)
Obviously, I was almost fangirling about it as soon as my eyes met the magic word “scales”. There aren’t enough good stories about reptilians out there, though Chris Finkelstein‘s “D’Ot Hexalogy“, of which Blood for Love is Book 1, gives me great hope the situation is going to be vastly improved.

Now, on with the more objective part of my read. The entire world pretty much fascinated me; it’s a hard thing to do, to build a fantasy world without describing it in grueling detail, and without skipping descriptions so much so that your reader forgets how it’s all supposed to be. Chris Finkelstein hit a fabulous balance, making me feel like it was my town he was describing, possibly my backyard, so to speak, and yet another world altogether. The vast presence of metal gives you a sensory clue as to the life in this world; there are actual laws against love, so you can imagine just how heavy, hard and cold life there would be. Of course, all hope is not lost. But I won’t go much into details, or I’ll spoil the read for you guys, and we don’t wanna do that, do we?

Now, I will address one aspect that I didn’t find bothering, but slightly surprising. In a world of cold, hard laws, brute force and violence, you wouldn’t quite expect there to be a religious movement that is centered on love, or at least I didn’t expect that. It’s more of a moralizing streak then a religious one, I’d say; the book has one message that I find great, to lose the ability to love selflessly is to lose that which makes you a real person, as opposed to some drone or beast. I will say though that there may be some that would find these streaks to fall more into a religious-like area, what with the exodus and all. I myself am not the sort of reader that enjoys strong religious undertones to books that aren’t on religious matters per se, however I find in this novel it’s more of a general message of love, and it’s not the main focus, but a balanced part of the plot.

The novel is rich in action, without becoming a chronicle of battles every 5 seconds; yet again, the author hits a great balance. What would have I liked to have more off? Well, villains. But then again, I’m the villain-supporter sort of gal, so that’s something I always wish I’d had more of. Don’t get me wrong, there are all sorts of nasty d’otians in the story, but there isn’t a main antagonist for me to crush on.
Could this have been a 5 butterflies material? Yes, actually. I loved the plot, the pace of it, how the writer built his characters, events didn’t feel at all rushed or dragged on, I wasn’t left with “blanks” along the ride, as it sometimes happens with books that were designed to be part of a series.
But why haven’t I given it my ultimate book-crush 5 butterflies rating? Honestly, the style of the writing; eloquent, beautiful, but less on the highly cursive side, and I hope I make myself clear on this: it’s not in any way lacking, but if it would have been a bit more fluid, it would have made this novel a killer, in my opinion.

Product-wise, e-book has a beautiful presentation, I also very much so loved the cover, and I LOVE the paperback as well. There are many things that tempt me into giving it my 5 butterflies rating, that have to do with the paperback reading experience. The font, the care with which it has been styled, the feel of the actual page – it’s all worth an A+, honestly. As a sensory-oriented reader, all these things will greatly impact my reading experience. For instance, I was reading a book once, and though the story, the writing, the characters, all were great, the quality of the paper it was printed on, the small size of the font and the overall cluttered feel of it left me with a sour taste. It may be unfair to factor that in with the writing, but as soon as you make your art into a product, all aspects of it will factor in.
Honestly, I’d give the paperback a 4 and a half butterflies, jut on account of it being so rich to the touch.

If love were like a form of religion, and persecuted as many religions have been throughout history, what would the world be like? Would we have small pockets of dissenters, those who continue to allow love into their lives and the lives of their friends and family?

In Blood For Love by Chris M. Finkelstein, this question is not abstract. In his fantasy world, built on a violent planet and peopled with lizard like beings known as D’olian we follow the differences of discipline vs. love. This is an interesting and thought provoking story that follows a world where war has destroyed all but one species. Love has been outlawed and if discovered is punished by DeathBT, or Death by Torture.

Rigorous study on the subject has found that procreation and the young have a stronger survival rate when surrounded by a loving environment. In order to maintain the growth of their race, love is allowed for the first 5 years of life. After 5 years, the children attend a brutal deprograming camp with dire consequences for those that cannot be turned. The brutality and mind control leave many so disturbed they will never be the same, and suicide and murder often follow. The percentages of those that do survive make the program successful—so it continues.

The mothers must also attend a camp. Torture and other brutal and nefarious methods are used to create the angry, frustrated and cowed women that are preferred by the government of this planet. In extreme cases, rape, in brutal and extreme measures, is used to get the compliancy that is expected.

This is the story of a young man and his family and friends as he makes his way through life, belonging to the underground Lern (Love’s Epiphany Requirement Network) and also known by the epithet of Love-lovers. The ruling party is known as NOV or Nation of Vengeance. Now a part of the Governments rule for hundreds of years, the NOV were instrumental in destroying the other races and poisoning the planet.

There is a bigger reason for the birth of Jan, he is slated for bigger and brighter things, but only if he can overcome the deprograming and find a way to beat the NOV. He is just an odd young man on his own; can he turn the tide and save those who believe in love? Can this group of reptilian humanoids overcome their violent nature and rebuild their world?
Jan does not fit of mold of the common D’otain. He is kind and considerate. He is as tall as the usual D’otain, but he is long and lean. His crest is also very unusual and a figure of fun for years as a youngster. Very slow to anger, he is the opposite of his race, and as such, he is often beat up and injured. This is a story of a family in crisis. We are along for the ride to learn if and how they escape the binds.

Finkelstein has created some interesting and unique characters. They are both brutal and yet civilized, capable of running a government and at the same time capable of murdering those like them, whose beliefs of love go against the ordinance. Intermixed with the brutality and violence, there is a peace loving faction of Love-lovers that will stop at nothing to prove their rights.
The story is interesting and yet extreme. The sequences leading up to the end keeps you turning the pages in disbelief. It gives us an understanding of being in a different world where normal is not the culture, and anger and brutality rule the planet. It is strange and yet fascinating, and Finkelstein’s race of humanoids are quite distinct.

If you like adventure and love, twisted and weaved with brutality, rape, cruelty, fanaticism, and torture, you will find this book is up your alley. Even after reading it, I am sure it will stay with me. It is both disturbing and yet full of heroics, an emotional roller coaster that will have you wondering where it will all end.

So there’s an enemy, which all good novels tend to have, and there’s good guys: Jan, Martha, Rebecca. etc. These are good characters, altohugh I wouldn’t say they are outstanding, they changed too fast after they went to a certain school, and there was one character, Rachael, who I felt was underdeveloped. But the character that reallys stood out to me was Grisvolt.

He was somewhere between the clear cut «Good Guys» and «Bad Guys», although he was clearly a good person. I found the fact that a lot of the time he was torn between emotions he knew he shouldn’t have endeared him to me more. I was quite impressed with his character.

There was a couple of things about the text itself that I didn’t really like. The first was the use of brackets. I tend to prefer that authors avoid the use of brackets in dialogue and narrative. And although Finklestein didn’t do it that often, there are two instances where I felt that really they didn’t need to be used, and that stick with me. The first is «in the Nation of Vengeance, (the NOV.)» and the second is «They were dressed in refined black ela robes, (very expensive,) and there were seven of them.». In both cases I feel that it could have been done without a bracketed term. But it’s not a huge issue, just a personal issue with parentheses.

There were a couple of spelling mistakes in the text as well, but very few, and this didn’t cause a real problem. Although one was quite interesting. On the first page of chapter nine there is a word used. the sentence is: «He didn’t return her «goodnight» gniteerg.» I’m not sure if this is a mistake, I know my word processor has sometimes made me write backwards. But I like to think the author just decided that goodnight was the opposite of a greeting and decided to use it backwards.

The story is actually very interesting and quite original, with the humanoid reptilian race and their society being quite distinct. However, I do have to admit that the country being called the Nation of Vengeance really didn’t fit with me as I couldn’t imagine anyone actually calling themselves this, even in this strange world that has been created. I will add here that due to the nature of the story some of the scenes are quite extreme and at times difficult to read as the violence and cruelty being conducted by both the government and regular citizens is rather vivid.

One of the issues I did find with the book was that there was a large amount of acronyms and detailed explanations that are thrown at the reader in the first few chapters. They are required due to the fact that the author has created a whole new vastly complex world that needs explaining but I think it did make the beginning of the book feel a little bit disjointed.

In regards to the characters, the mother named Martha has been well-developed and shows quick wits throughout the book that help to enhance the story. The son named Jan is at times rather endearing in the way he faces the challenges before him, however I did find him to be utilised many times as a vessel for the various visions and religious aspects that were driving on some of the plot which I felt weakened his overall development. The other characters in the book are utilised well by the author to support the main two characters and each one is developed in a manner that helps enhance both the plot and the world that has been created.

Blood Knight

Fighting is everything to the Blood Knight. He lives for it. It’s not winning or losing, morality, the motives of his allies, or even the glory that drives this guy so much as it is the opportunity for a good fight.

A Blood Knight can be of any morality whatsoever, although Anti Heroes and Anti Villains tend to be most common.

Heroic examples will frequently be The Big Guy in an ensemble, the character most likely to solve his problems by force of arms. They might make the less violent members of the crew a little nervous, especially if they go off on a hair trigger. He may merely enjoy the challenge and not hurting others necessarily; some don’t hurt people unprovoked since they have a sense of right and wrong.

The Blood Knight doesn’t even have to be a particularly violent man most of the time. A common version found in Eastern fiction is the Wandering Martial Artist, who Wanders the Earth looking for strong opponents to test his skills against. This might be coupled with a love of fair duels and a desire to challenge the best and strongest. This type still enjoys the thrill of the fight, but usually eschews the death and bloodshed aspect. A living opponent, after all, can improve their skills and provide an even better challenge later. Defeat Means Friendship is a common occurrence with these guys, their opponent’s or their own.

As an antagonist, he has a good chance of being an Anti-Villain, since he doesn’t want to kill the heroes, necessarily, just fight them. If he can find someone tough enough to beat him he might undergo a Heel–Face Turn and join the hero’s team, or simply gain a newfound respect for his foe that he didn’t have before. He might deliberately disadvantage himself in order to make fights last longer and loves to reveal that he is not left-handed. Despite the brutality that this trope implies, it’s not uncommon for them to be a Noble Demon as well when they want an exciting fight on specific terms or when they reject unfair advantages because it would make the fight no fun. He may even betray his boss if he insists on interfering to pursue and obsess over his foe on his own terms. Less pleasant ones may do all kinds of horrible things to provoke their opponents into fighting them. Though if they specifically love to kill (rather than fight) they are a Psycho for Hire.

Personality-wise, more evil ones may be a Flat Character (and quite possibly The Brute) who just shouts «Maim! Kill! Burn!». Good/Sympathetic ones are usually more sophisticated/developed and can have aspects of the Warrior Therapist, Warrior Poet or Cultured Warrior. He might be a normal, jocular guy when he’s not brawling, or he might take the fight so seriously that he blocks out everything else and will therefore live only for battle. In some cases, the Blood Knight fights because he’s looking for a way to die with meaning.

A War God is very often one of these though he could also be Ax-Crazy or just The Sociopath. If there’s a whole society of guys who like combat, you’ve got a Proud Warrior Race. If the character likes the killing part more than the ‘fighting’ part, they’re a Psycho for Hire. (In fact it’s not uncommon for Blood Knights to also uphold Thou Shalt Not Kill). The Egomaniac Hunter also thrives on aimless violent thrill and loves a worthy quarry instead of an opponent. If a character is in it for the challenge rather than just the fight, then we’ve got a Spirited Competitor. The Blood Knight’s love of combat may be platonic, or it may have sexual undertones. It could also overlap with Ax-Crazy if their love of fighting crosses the line into psychopathic violence and mental and emotional instability.

Sub-Trope of In Harm’s Way. Sister Trope to Combat Sadomasochist, The Real Man, and Boisterous Bruiser. Compare Cavalier Competitor and, for a more general trope, Challenge Seeker. Also compare Sadist, whose favorite part of fighting is the pain and suffering of his opponent. May be from a Martyrdom Culture and will nearly always believe that War Is Glorious. If he (or she, though it’s much rarer, however; see Lady of War) is in the military, then he will almost inevitably be a Colonel Kilgore. A Monster Knight has a high chance of being one. A more violent example that nonetheless fights on the side of good may (or may not) be a Sociopathic Hero. It also has nothing to do with a knight who uses Blood Magic. Contrast Shell-Shocked Veteran, who is of the opposite mindset (also contrast War Is Hell).

Oh, just in case it wasn’t clear, the character doesn’t have to be a literal knight for this trope to apply. It is about the attitude, not the rank.

It should be clear by now that this character loves laying the hurt. And ironically, it’s because of this that these characters are quite likely to get saddled with a No-Harm Requirement at some point. A mission’s success may forbid the use of any violence, a target may be too dangerous to hurt recklessly, this particular opponent may be too precious to hurt, etc. Whatever the case, it’s often quite ordeal for many Blood Knights to handle such a challenge. Beating opponents to a pulp? Easy peasy. Putting them out of commission without hurting them? Not so much.

Contrast with Reluctant Warrior, the exact opposite of this trope: rather than enjoying the thrill of battle, they instead treat it as a last resort.

Not to be confused with Blood-Splattered Warrior, though they sometimes overlap.

Summary:

Dream lives with his best friend, Nick Sapnap, in Florida. Recently, the infamous ‘Blade’ has shown up in the state, leaving resistance and visitors in lock down.
‘Blade’ is known for his incredible strength and his kill count, over 3,500 dead.

Dream accidentally bumps into ‘Blade’, who takes interest in the man. What can Dream do when a infamous murderer is constantly following him? Apparently fall hard.

Friday 23rd, July 2021

The government officials had put a recommended lockdown for the foreseeable future 2 weeks ago due to a highly dangerous criminal making his self known. ‘Blade’ doesn’t originate from Florida, he actually comes from California. Not entirely sure why he went across the country to do his business (maybe he has someone nearby he knows). ‘Blade’ has overall been pretty much off the radar as law enforcement has had serious difficulty in tracking him down, but unfortunately, since the lockdown was put in place, the man has managed to murder over 250 people in 8 different towns.

Clay should be more afraid of the current situation. I mean, that number is terrifying to think about, not to mention that the most recent murder was just one town over. Instead, he is sitting on a small bench with his best friend, drinking a Mountain Dew, and eating a bag of chips he bought from the nearby convenience store, while scrolling through his twitter feed. Passing by the occasional tweets about the lockdown, he pays more attention to the tweets about the murder stories. Apparently ‘Blade’ will always claim his kill by cutting a complex design of a boar onto the skin of their victims, and in some way, it’s disturbingly beautiful.

They begin making their way back to their shared home, which is about a 25 minute walk away. Why did they go that far from home? Well, the store nearby their house is complete dogshit so.

Nick attempts to start up a casual, easy conversation about whatever when they both hear a blood curdling scream from nearby. Both friends stay standing where they are, not daring to get closer to the source of the cry. They stay there for a moment, shivering when they both feel eyes on them. They need to get moving quickly unless they want to be next. Nick trembles in fear while Clay, the dumbass he is, let’s his eyes roam around, hoping to find a body or at least a blood trail.

Both of them continue to feel the blood thirsty eyes watch them as they arrive home. Locking the door, they sit on the couch to process. It’s not long after that, they both head to their respective rooms to rest. Throughout the entire night, Clay would swear someone was watching him.

Watching the local news the next day was frightening, there was 8 different bodies found throughout the night, 3 more found this morning. 4 of those bodies were fairly close to where Clay and Nick lived, and they knew like 2 of the victims. The fact that Clay felt like we was watched last night didn’t help, there was a possibility that ‘Blade’ was thinking of killing him.

Nick had gone back to his room, saying that he promised to play some games with a few friends. Clay waved him off, saying that it was still early enough to go get groceries. Nick allowed him, telling him to keep his location on just in case.

Of course, Saturday had to be one of the days where everyone started stocking up. It meant he was safer though. Around so many people, there was such a low chance of getting attacked. Clay still didn’t like being around so many bodies either way. It felt cramped, especially with the feeling of dozens of eyes staring into you, judging your clothing, your actions, how you breathe. He finally gets a breath of fresh air when he exits the store, throwing the bags into the car. He has to stop at one more place before he can go home. He decided to buy something local and now has to go pick it up. Leaving his car on the side of the street, he starts walking toward his destination.

The streets were empty, and the other stores nearby looked absent of any life. He quickened his pace, stopping at the glass door of the store. The lights are out but the door is still open. Pushing it open, he is overwhelmed by the smell of iron. Just to the left of the counter is a door, where he already sees a trail of blood coming from. His heart drops but he is too curious for his own good.

God, Nick is gonna kill him if ‘Blade’ doesn’t first. Pushing open the door, he sees the store owner on the ground.

They were staring at the ground, eyes lifeless and dull. Their neck was tilted at a horrific angle due to the large gash there. Their shirt was ripped open, and the beginnings of the boar mark could be seen.

The marking wasn’t finished.

Wait, why wasn’t it finished?

Oh god he’s still here.

Clay didn’t have time to react when he was suddenly bodied into the wall. The feeling of the cold bloodied blade against his neck forced a whimper out of him. He expected to just see black, feel a sharp pain before nothingness. Instead, he felt the blade retreat a little. Daring to open his eyes, he sees the man they call ‘Blade’, wearing a large boar skull on their head. It was stained red but you could still see the white bone underneath. The man also towered Clay, at least another foot. Continuing to look, he was in awe as ‘Blade’ flexed his muscles as if showing off to the civilian beneath him. Looking back up, he could see small outlines of his face from between the skull openings, along with the red eyes that thirsted for blood.

Clay didn’t realize that he was blushing until the killer spoke up, «Like the view?»

He basically squeaked at the sound of the other’s voice. He sheepishly gave a nod, deciding to look over at the corpse instead of the man in front of him.

«I’m surprised you aren’t screaming for mercy, or scrambling to get out.» His voice was monotone, voicing no emotion at all. Clay just hummed, glancing back at ‘Blade’.

Before he could stop himself, the words spilt out of his mouth, «God, you’re hot.» It took ‘Blade’ by surprise while Clay shot his hands up to his mouth. He started mumbling sorry to the man, sliding down the wall to curl up.

He heard a blade sheath, before feeling ‘Blade’s’ hand grab his face, forcing him to look at them. He moved his head this way and that, seemingly looking him over. Clay just turned more red by the second. «Hm, you’re not too bad yourself

The man chuckled, «You know, I like you. I’ll let this little incident slide as long as you promise to keep your pretty mouth shut.» He roughly grabbed his chin, giving more power to his words. «Understood, doll?» Clay quickly nodded his understanding. ‘Blade’ let him go, standing up. «Good, I’d hate to kill someone that caught my eye. Hope to see you again- uhh,»

When he got home, he sped to the bathroom, determined to wash the blood off himself before Nick could see him.

He heard the headphone drop to the desk as Nick rushed over to his friend, «Clay, you’re covering in blood! Is this your blood? Are you hurt? What happened?!» Clay tried to calm his friend down by shushing him before starting to explain. He obviously left the part where he encountered ‘Blade’ out, but the story satisfied him. «As long as you’re alright, I’m sorry you had to see that.» Clay nodded before entering the bathroom, starting a shower.

Not too bad. But not too good.

— Gun is not a good actor. He’s a good comedic actor, and when this series is being OTT or comical, it works. When it strays into sappy melodrama, which it unfortunately does far too often, then it’s excruciating to watch his scenes. Lots and lots of melodramatic crying, and anger all at a loud volume with teeth bared. You’ll learn to FF.

— The plot is totally predictable, and almost every moment you can see coming. The enemies portion of the story ended way too soon and suddenly you could almost hear the Tschaikowski Romeo & Juliet overture firing up. Actually, that would have at least made it funny. The problem was that you didn’t get enough time to invest in the relationship, which for me was carried entirely by Boat, who is extremely attractive and also a good actor.

I’m being funny, but Pitch & Bank are likely to be what keeps you watching what is otherwise a forgettable experience. But be forewarned, they are not in it much, and apparently a large portion of their scenes were not included, which seems mystifying and criminal. Maybe the actors woudn’t allow any producer «bad touch» and were being punished.

Boat is a really good actor, He does drama, comedy, and action very well. He’s good at subtle expression and letting his eyes show you what he’s feeling, as oppsed to Gun, who only has one setting: OTT loud and teeth-baring. There are a lot of action scenes, and they’re actually pretty good by BL standards.

I would advise you not to do what I did, and watch too much of this on normal speed for fear of missing any Bank.

Rewatch value: 5. I’d give it a 1, but there’s a scene with Bank in a tank top and a scene with Bank shirtless that I’m likely to rewatch many, many times. It may not be coming through, but I like Bank.

Good start, poor finish!

To be honest, I didn’t know from the start that we would get this series. I found about it in a random way, but when I saw that Gun had the main lead, I was super excited. When I watched the first episode, I felt that they would provide us with the sth different that the rest typical Thai BLs. Boy was I wrong.

Quick summary: A good start that led to a crappy finish.

Our main lead couple is Sun and Sky. Sky, who is portrayed by Gun, is the rich son of a ethical mafia boss. I know that «ethical» can’t describe a mafia boss, but bear with me. On the other hand, Sun (Boat) is an orphan man that was put under Sky’s father guidance since he was young, for a weird reason. After some incidents and as Sky’s life is in danger, Sun is appointed as his bodyguard and follow him 24/7.

Our second lead couple is Pitch and Bank. Bank (Tenon), is the goofy childhood friend of Sky, and is familiar with Sky’s background, and he attends the same university as SunSky. On the other hand, Pitch (Sugus), is a senior of the three boys. On an unrelated topic, Sugus has a powerful eyebrow game. That dude can do anything with his eyebrows.

Lastly, we have our two females in the series, Juno (Apple) and Toktang (Jane). Both of them are classmates with our trio and friends with Pitch. Toktang is a shy and down to earth girl and at first she seemed to be the love interest of Sky, as he seemed interested in her; while, Juno, is an honest girl who was openly interested in Sun.

I am sure that most of us when we read the description for the series we already had an idea of what the plot is going to be like. Honestly, what I thought about the series was true. Every assumption and stereotype that I predicted was true. Bodyguard and young master are falling in love, their statuses won’t allow this relationship, they fight, they reunite, happy ending. That’s it. Okay, sure, for once the real villain in the series isn’t another love interest, but it is an unethical mafia boss that wants to sell drugs on Sky’s father territory, but he refused. So, the bad mafia boss tries to kill the son of the good mafia boss.

Though, I have to admit that the first episodes were exciting and I thought that finally we found a thai series that won’t have stupid clichés. Well, as I said earlier, I was wrong. One cliché after the other, people falling in love with the other person in a spam of a second, fights between the couples for the silliest things, unwanted jealousy, and happy ending.

Well. I might be an asshole. but. the acting. was bad.

First of all, let me say about the role of Gun. I was glad that in this series they didn’t make Gun’s role as the typical non-good-looking character (e.g. LBC in which everyone pointed out how plain and ugly he was); and instead he played for once a confident role. Even though I liked Gun’s role, I didn’t like his acting that much. I believe that he is better of with a comedy role. In the series, there were many scenes that required him to either cry or be sad; and for me it just didn’t work. That being said, in my personal opinion, I feel that Gun’s acting is getting better as the time goes by.

Moving on to Boat’s performance, I have to admit that this was the first that I watched with him in the cast. I found that his expressionless face was kind of fun in many cases, but again I don’t think that I liked his acting. One of the main reasons, is due to the script. I believe that as an actor he has many things to give, but he needs the right script and plot.

As for Tenon, I found him a little awkward in many scenes and I thought that his expressions could be improved. Taking into account his age, I think that in the future we would see more of him. Last but not least, we have Sugus. That dude he was a master in controlling his eyebrows. What the hell? I found his flow and personality better than the rest of the cast. However, he also had some awkward scenes.

I may point out the negative parts, but as an overall, I believe that the four actors could give us more, if they had better script on their hands.

I know that nobody cares about my opinion, but whatever! To be honest, the description was pretty descriptive so I do not know why I am so disappointed with what I watched. The thing is that this series seemed to be different from the rest. We didn’t have any cringe/stereotypical scenes in the first two episodes, we had a manly main lead, and a story that could give us many things. But then the third episode happened.

That leads me to my next point. As someone who was only watching the series, I wasn’t able to understand when our main leads developed feelings for each other. It was like some scenes didn’t make it to the final cut, and we were left with half the story. We don’t get to know why Sky’s and Sun’s blood was so important till the last two episodes. Why? Moreover, if Sky’s life was in danger, and many assassinations happened against him, why did he still attend the university and the university activities? Lastly, where is the police in those type of series? Sky was almost killed in the university’s bathroom but nothing happened after that? WHAT IS GOING ON? I think that the screenwriters wanted to create more tension for the couple and just used everything they thought.

Anyway, that’s it. It’s a shame that it didn’t work out in the end, but I didn’t have any kind of expectations for this series.

ПРЕДИСЛОВИЕ

Уникальный хоррор шутер 90х на момент выхода остался почти незамеченным, но обрёл свой культовый статус уже в наши дни.

Мы пробежимся по сюжету и окунёмся в мир игры. Более детально поговорим о главном герое, монстрах и оружии, а также не обойдем стороной внешний дизайн. Всё это в сопровождении наших любимых культистов, без которых было бы «чуточку скучнее».

Классический шутер Blood обладает своим шармом и индивидуальностью, полон сатиры и чёрного юмора. Треш с примесью хоррор составляющей делают игру по-настоящему изысканной и неповторимой.

ИСТОРИЯ ИГРЫ

Игра появилась на полках магазинов в 1997 году, обойдя все консоли стороной, оставшись ПК эксклюзивом. Разработчиком выступила Monolith Productions, которая выкупила права на игру у 3D REALMS. Студии, которая разработала Дюк Нюкема и в дальнейшем Шэдоу Уорриор.

Известно, что Blood также должна была выйти под крылом 3d realms, но по каким-то причинам на пол пути они забросили разработку игры и продали права на неё «монолитам». Blood использует тот же игровой движок Build Engine, что и Duke Nukem 3D.

В 90х это был шутер «Б» класса, явно уступающий в мощи Quake, так и вышедшим годом позже Half-Life и Unreal. Тягаться на рынке предстояло именно с Дюк Нюкемом и другими второсортными шутерами. Сама игра по своей сути являлась пародией на хоррор фильмы 80х-90х годов и отличалась своим необыкновенным чувством юмора. Жанр игры — Хоррор шутер с большой примесью треша, что делает творение «монолитов» весьма уникальным в своём роде. Например: Duke Nukem 3D и Shadow Warrior не содержали в себе хоррор элементов, хоть и нисколько не уступали в безумии творящемся на экране. Blood же на момент выхода был способен напугать рядового игрока, выводя из зоны комфорта различными игровыми ситуациями и необыкновенными криповыми монстрами.

ДИЗАЙН И МОНСТРЫ

Уровни в игре выполнены практически в полном 3д окружении, но монстры и другие объекты изображены спрайтами. «Левл дизайн» представлял из себя смесь заброшенных кладбищ и подземелий, зловещих пещер и средневековых замков. Погружённые в руины города и всеми «любимые» канализации также присутствуют в игре. Есть и уникальные уровни отличающиеся от остальных своей богатой архитектурой — Тёмный Карнавал и Поезд. Последние два едва ли не самые любимые уровни большинства игроков, ведь именно они наделены большим простором для развлечения. Помимо них в завершающей стадии игрока забросит в измерение ада которое напрямую ведёт в обитель главного антагониста игры — Чернобога.

За внешний дизайн отвечал всего один человек. Имя его Кевин Килстром. Он же художник, аниматор и экранный видео оператор. Последнее означает, что он сканировал все реально слепленные модельки под разными ракурсами, делал из них спрайты и затем импортировал в игровой движок.

Монстры, ровным счётом как и главный герой, лепились из пластилина. Иногда это делалось поверх пластиковой игрушки у которой были подвижны некоторые части тела. Всё это дело сканировалось и тщательно обрабатывалось, а затем превращалось в спрайты.

Кевин Килстром отвечал за все аспекты игры, которые касались арт дизайна. Можно только удивляться тому, как один человек сумел проделать столь внушительный объём работы и при этом всё равно остался далеко в тени известных всему миру геймдизайнеров. Но такова участь почти каждого разработчика. Известность и признание получают лишь настоящие «гении»

Дизайн здешних монстров вдохновлен как классикой ужасов, так и мифологией. Тут вам и Зомби, прямиком из фильмов Джорджа Ромеро и Лучио Фульчи, которые поднимаются из своих могил, не брезгают вылазить из канализационных труб или мест не столь «отдалённых», а также их более упитанный аналог — Раздувшиеся мясники, которые весьма настойчивым образом предлагают вам присоединиться к ним, попутно сотрясая воздух газами и низвергая желчь прямиком из своего рта.

К мифологии можно отнести Каменных Гаргулий, которые просыпаются от своего сна и явно не терпят присутствия главного героя. Гаргульи одни из самых доставучих врагов. Всё благодаря тому, что они передвигаются как по земле, так и по воздуху. Есть и Призраки-фантазмы, уязвимые только в момент их атаки. В 90х эти ребята заставляли строить целые заводы по производству кирпичей своим внезапным появлением из дверцы какого-нибудь шкафа. Адские гончие, способные дышать огнём, свободно передвигаться по лаве и мгновенно умирать в воде. Стоит церберу хотя бы пару раз вздохнуть на вас, как тут же вы вспомните, что в аду бывает не так уж жарко как в присутствии данной миловидной собачки.

Но если вы думаете, что в воде безопасно, то вы глубоко заблуждаетесь, ибо прямиком из тёмной пучины ужасов Лавкрафта на вас уставилась голодная пасть с сотней острых зубов, именуемая Gillbeast. Представляющие опасность на суше и особенно под водой, эти ребята развивают стремительную скорость, всегда готовы и всегда на старте, прибегут (или приплывут) в сию же секунду как только почуют ваше присутствие.

К слову, «вода» едва ли не самое опасное место в игре. Только главному герою хватает смелости начать задыхаться от недостатка воздуха. Всем остальным представителям мира в воде живётся вполне комфортно и нужды в воздухе они не испытывают. Культисты спокойно обитают под водой и охотно шпигуют героя свинцом.

Практически каждый из них может метко кинуть вам динамит прямо под ноги, однако кое-кто в этой банде выделяется особенным образом. Зелёный культист не видит в своей жизни смысла, если в ней отсутствует динамит. Он преследует только одну цель, предать огню всё то, что по его мнению не является таким же крутым как он, а уж кто станет жертвой — его не волнует, самое главное это процесс, усердие и продуктивность. Он будет метать динамит до тех пор, пока не подорвёт кого-то, даже если это будет он сам.

БОССЫ

И конечно же, не забываем, что как и в большинстве шутеров, здесь есть свои Боссы каждый из которых по своему уникален. Королева пауков порождает бесчисленное количество паучат и в своей роли годится лишь для того чтобы пощекотать ваши нервы и доставить неудобства тем, у кого есть пристрастие к арахнофобии. Большая каменная Гаргулья стреляет лазерами прямо из своих орбит и преследует игрока до самой смерти. Двухглавый Цербер демонстрирует особенности долгого запоя в аду, чем доказывает это в бою, стреляя из пасти огненными снарядами. Каждый из них является финальным боссом одной из сюжетных кампаний.

Среди них наиболее выделяется монстр которого величали Зверем. Чаще всего он преобладает в двух стадиях. Первая стадия — культист в красном одеянии. Если вы встретите его, то ничего кроме беды эта встреча вам не предвещает. Он, как и коричневый, носит с собой дробовик с одним лишь отличием, что имеет втрое увеличенный запас здоровья.

Зверь страшен как вблизи, так и на дальней дистанции. Уж неизвестно какой магией он обладает, но когда он топает своей ногой, то у нашего героя случается коллапс лёгких, что отрицательно сказывается на продолжительности его жизни.

ОРУЖИЕ

И тут же на нас выбрасывают целую толпу голодных мракобесов, а в руках у нас те самые проклятые вилы…В голове возникает один вопрос…

Сигнальная Ракетница — Обладает низкой огневой мощью, но компенсирует свои недостатки поджигая уязвимых к огню противников. Несколько одиночных выстрелов способны заставить танцевать на смертном одре одного недоброжелателя, который будет напевать самые приятные для ушей песни. Альтернативный огонь превращает толпу любителей острых ощущений в парад состоящий из бегущих огненных человечков неистово напевающих о тщетности бытья.

Интересный факт: подожжённый культист во мгновенье ока забывает свой культистский язык и сразу же начинает кричать на английском «IT BURNS IT BURNS BURNS! AAHHH!»

Спрей — В качестве замены огнемёту, мы в определённый момент игры обзаведёмся лаком для волос. Как и динамит, спрей можно метко кинуть за угол прямиком за шиворот затаившемуся культисту, от чего тот уже через несколько секунд выбежит с криками о несправедливости жизни так таковой. Повторять до тех пор, пока газовый баллончик не опустеет.

Кукла Вуду — Это своего рода местная снайперская винтовка которая способно бить даже самых противных и доставучих врагов на дальних дистанциях, молниеносно заставляя тех подпрыгивать от лёгкого испуга. Идеально подходит для битвы с некоторыми боссами, позволяя держать дистанцию и «затыкивать» что есть наверняка. Но как и у Посоха, у Куклы есть своя маленькая особенность. Если в области прицела не будет врага, то Калеб воткнёт иголку себе в палец.

Тесла Пушка — Венец творения великого изобретателя, по сути своей является пулемётом, который стреляет пучками высоковольтных электрических снарядов, пробирающих любого врага аж до самой кости. Во втором случае накапливается заряд особой мощности, способный зарядить все разрядившиеся граммофоны и таксофоны в радиусе 15 метров, а их владельцам обеспечивается заряд бодрости на неделю вперёд. Никола Тесла гордился бы вами, бесплатная раздача электричества — каждому по заслугам.

Злые культисты тревожат ваш покой? — киньте в них динамит!

Эта комната кажется вам слишком подозрительной? — бросьте туда связку динамита!

Если враг не хочет умирать — это значит что вы использовали недостаточно динамита!

Доподлинно неизвестно как давно существует Чернобог, хотя кто-то говорит что он стар как само время. В какой-то момент его тело было уничтожено неизвестными силами, что заставило его вселяться в чужие оболочки, дабы продолжать исполнять свой долг по поддержанию баланса миров и измерений. Чтобы цикл перерождений не прерывался, он основал культ, именуемый «Кабал», который придерживался чёткой и строгой иерархии. Стоит отметить, что сам по себе Чернобог был источником безграничной мощи, он не являлся воплощением зла, но и не был добродетелем. Во многом его определял человек, в котором он перерождался.

5-я инкарнация Чернобога появилась в теле буддистского монаха. С ним во главе культ стал закрытой организацией, допускавшей только избранных и практиковал мирные ритуалы покаяния.

Всё изменилось со временем. Последняя инкарнация, 16-я, произошла в теле человека, который был средоточием всего самого темного, что только может быть в человеке, и это так же повлияло на Чернобога. Культ радикально преобразился: набиралось все больше людей из различных слоёв, ритуалы стали нести в себе все более зловещую суть, а целью стало покорение Земли.

Бывший некогда религиозной организацией, которая мирно поклонялась своему богу, культ в конечном итоге стал тоталитарной сектой, которая раковой опухолью разрасталась по всей планете — с каждым днем количество новообращенных росло, и культ пустил свои метастазы во все слои властных структур различных государств, заполучив таким образом возможность влиять на политику и экономику целых стран. Поглощая души, Чернобог преображался, становясь раз за разом на шаг ближе к своей абсолютной форме. Он больше не хотел перерождаться в человеческом теле, и в своих планах после порабощения земли, обретя наибольшее могущество, он захотел вторгнуться на планету в своем истинном обличии и сделать её частью своего измерения.

В конце концов, культисты стали совершать чудовищные злодеяния — они пытали и мучали людей, которым не повезло оказаться в их руках, калечили и извращали их души, которые, истерзанные болью и страданием, затем отправлялись на ужин Чернобогу. ИСТОРИЯ ГЕРОЯ

Калеб родился в США в 1847-м году штате Техас. Во времена дикого запада и гражданской войны в стране, к своим 17 годам уже заработал себе репутацию безжалостного стрелка, относящегося ко всему с долей иронии.

Однажды, одним беззаботным вечером, он встретил Офелию Прайс, стоящую посреди обугленных руин дома. От неё он узнал, что её муж пытался отказаться от своей службы и сбежать от культа «Кабал». В результате чего культисты сожгли их дом. Во время пожара погиб сын. Офелия будучи лояльной культу, во всех грехах винила вовсе не культистов, а своего мужа которого считала трусом.

Герой плывущий по течению жизни, после знакомства с Офелией, присоединился к культу, где его навыки стрелка оценили по достоинству. Позже он влюбился в девушку и это определило его дальнейшую судьбу. Спустя годы, они вместе достигли высокого ранга и стали Избранными, вместе с двумя другими членами культа одного из которых звали Габриэль, а второго Ишмаэль. Долгие годы они служили Чернобогу и безукоризненно выполняли все его задания, распространяя влияние и пополняя ряды новыми членами культа. Порабощали и приносили в жертву души тех, кто отказывался нести службу, взамен обретая всё большее могущество дарованное их хозяином.

В начале 20 века, когда Калебу стукнуло 60 лет, а влияние культа начала распространяться по всему миру, Чернобог решил принести в жертву своих избранников. Он призвал демонов из другого измерения и на глазах нашего героя погибли его друзья, как и возлюбленная Офелия Прайс. А Калеб был похоронен заживо

ПРОБУЖДЕНИЕ

В 1928 году, когда культ Кабал разросся до немыслимых масштабов, Калеб воскрес и обнаружил, что члены культа стали нападать на города и захватывать целые континенты. Не растеряв своего чувства юмора, он тут же принялся очищать местность и города от членов культа, как и от их созданий. Уничтожая всё на своём пути, ослеплённый местью и собственным безумием герой поглощал сердца своих врагов, тем самым становясь сильнее и возвращая свой человеческий облик.

Осознавая, что Офелия Прайс давным-давно мертва, Калеб таки добрался до её тела, но было уже слишком поздно. Её тело было распято демоном Гаргульей. Час расплаты наступил незамедлительно. Босс был повержен, а герой простился с Офелией, предав её тело огню.

ФИНАЛ ИСТОРИИ

Калеб уничтожая демонов и культистов, поглотил достаточное количество душ и отправился в измерение Чернобога, пройдя через несколько кругов кромешного ада. Покинув чистилище, герой оказался на распутье своей судьбы и предстал перед мрачным и жестоким божеством во все оружии. Связывающий пространство и миры тёмный повелитель ждал главного героя, ведь по его плану, именно Калеб должен был доставить ему те самые наиболее истерзанные и поглощённые души. В этом и заключалась причина по которой Чернобог предал главного героя, дав тому мотивацию и причину чтобы отомстить. Но Поглотитель Душ явно недооценил своего бывшего избранника и переоценил свои собственные силы. Чернобог находился даже не в своей абсолютной форме и Калеб, хоть и не без труда, находясь в настоящей кровавой мясорубке, но смог одолеть своего бывшего повелителя…План Чернобога по захвату земли был обречён…

ЭПИЛОГ

К слову, Калеб на протяжении игры то и дело отпускал различного рода шутки пропитанные не малой долей сарказма и сатиры, что делает его забавным и харизматичным персонажем, ничем не уступающим его визави Дюк Нюкему, а в чем-то на мой взгляд даже более притягательным. Градус безумия достигает своего апогея, когда он съедает сердца своего павшего друга Габриэля, а сам герой на пути к своей цели нисколько не стесняется уничтожать невинных рабов культистов, что также делает его своеобразным антигероем. Банальная месть для него не сколько дело принципа, а скорее отличный способ провести своё время и повеселиться что называется от души.

КОНЕЦ

PS: На этом история и обзор великолепной игры Blood подошли к своему концу. Данный текст является местами расширенной версией видео, но кое-какие моменты, например, кампания Death Wish и пасхальные яйца здесь отсутствуют. I will start of by saying congratulations on a wonderful debut novel. Nothing makes me happier than a fellow book lover taking the plunge and making dreams come true.

This novel made me feel such nostalgia. It has been too long (after being swept up in Booktok), that I have read something that took its time. Took me back to picking up YA novels in high school, showed me what i have really missed in a story of late.

The characters are built slowly and surely and the world building left me wanting I will start of by saying congratulations on a wonderful debut novel. Nothing makes me happier than a fellow book lover taking the plunge and making dreams come true.

Love, Blood & Fury is a fast paced, action packed fantasy with beasts, magic, sword fights and romance. At the helm is a strong female lead, accompanied by a range of interesting characters. There is a little bit of course language, and some violent themes, so the ideal audience would be older YA to NA readers.

Emotions unfamiliar to her begin to surface as she gets to know the King and his guard, along with a group of recruits who soon have her questioning everything.

Book One of this series is Young Adult (YA) level bordering on NA, but I will be looking at leaning more towards New Adult (NA) in future books.

Haven’t been hooked like this in a while. I liked how greek mythology was incorporated into a story about the Fae. It made for a different and entertaining read. I believe Love, Blood and Fury is written in the third person point of view, omniscient. It took me a couple of chapters to get use to it. It was quite jarring at times for me personally as I don’t often read books in this narrative.
I also think it was a bit overwritten, it wasn’t unpleasant to read, just unnecessary.

Arii wasn’t a bad character, I quite enjoyed her. I just wish her hardened heart and personality didn’t soften up so quick. I mean after many years of hard assassin training to shut down any emotion in her heart, for it to start softening after only being in normal people’s company for 4 days kind of ruined it for me. I would’ve like to see a slower and more progressive change in her.

The thing I disliked the most, the love triange. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good love triange, but this was not it for me. At least make up your mind first who you want before sleeping with one guy and the next day decide no you’d rather want the other one and jump into bed with him too, when it was quite obvious who she was going to end up with anyway. I understand it adds to Lochs change of character, which we will see more of in book 2.

«Blood for the Blood God«, sometimes followed by “Skulls for the Skull Throne,” is a battlecry associated with the Chaos Space Marines faction in Warhammer 40k. Online, the phrase often appears in image macro captions and has inspired numerous variations using the phrasal template «X for the X God.»

Origin

«Blood for the Blood God» a common battlecry amongst the Chaos Space Marines faction of the game. The faction worships one of the Four Gods of Chaos, Khorne. Khorne is the God of War, Murder, Anger, Hate, and general Bloodshed. His private realm in the Warp is said to be filled with rivers of blood and that he sits upon a throne of skulls, made from all who die in battle. Thus when a Chaos Space Marine kills someone, they cry «Blood for the Blood God, Skulls for the Skull Throne!» The earliest explanation of the phrase online was posted in Khorne’s Wikia page, [1] written March 28th, 2006.

On July 3rd, 2008, a demotivational poster featuring the phrase was posted to gamereplays [2] by Jean=A=Luc, likely marking the phrase’s first appearance in a meme (shown below).

Spread

Over the following years, the phrase began appearing in various meme templates referencing Warhammer 40k, including Rage Comics and Insanity Wolf (shown below) before eventually moving into other fandoms.

The phrase has appeared in various anime and My Little Pony image macros as well. It also grew into a popular snowclone on Reddit with the format «(X) for the (X) God.» Two threads have been posted to /r/OutOftheLoop about the phrase, one posted November 24th, 2013 [3] and another posted May 8th, 2017. [4] In June of 2014, the Twitter account @godtributes [5] devoted to posting variations of the snowclone launched, gaining over 19,300 followers.
