ETHNO WORLD 6 Instruments is the summit of a library that has continuously been growing and improving for over 16 years. In this sixth edition, numerous new instruments with a volume of several gigabytes have been added to the library. Award-winning film composer Marcel Barsotti (e. g. Pope Joan, The Miracle of Bern) has gathered a gigantic selection of instruments from all over the word from widely varying cultures.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Instruments now consists of 264 instruments, with roughly 620 patches, 10 construction sets and 5 shaker sets. For the most authentic sound, the instruments were recorded with different play techniques that can easily and precisely be accessed from the patches via key-switches. The library consists of 24.7 gigabytes (uncompressed) of sample data and 23,559 samples. All instruments come in 24 bit and 44.1 kHz.

Over 70 musicians from all over world were involved in the recording process, conducted by music-producer Andreas Hofner. The recordings took place in different local studios with the use of first-class gear such as microphones by Neumann and Brauner, SPL preamplifiers and converters by RME.

A good number of special instruments were additionally recorded for version 6. Among them is the new “Gamelan” category. The instruments were recorded in Munich’s Stadtmuseum and contain two different gamelan orchestras from Bali and Java, available in slendro, pelog and international tunings. Here, you will find more than 25 instruments such as kempli, kendhang drums, cheng cheng, bells, kecer cymbals, kethuk and kempiang.

THE INTERFACE

ETHNO WORLD 6 Instruments uses the free Kontakt 5 Player by Native Instruments as its sample-engine and can of course be used with the full version of Kontakt 5, too. For the new version, the user-interface’s graphic has been completely redesigned and optimized for ultra fast access. There are numerous editing possibilities as well as innovative functions. ETHNO WORLD 6 Instruments supports the Native Kontrol Standard (NKS), which allows tagging and interaction with the NI Komplete Kontrol keyboards and NI Maschine.

Further additions are a new waveform display, visualization of the sample-start-offset as well as a clearer use of the effects where, among other features, delay times are now displayed in tempo-related note values and milliseconds. The Timemachine (TM PRO) delivers significantly improved audio results with tempo adapted material, especially for polyphonic licks and loops.

And this is not only a benefit for the latest sounds of ETHNO WORLD 6 Instruments but also for all sounds of ETHNO WORLD 5 which were completely revised in this regard. At the same time, the number of patches has been reduced, leading to a clearer menu structure.

Best Service Ethno World 6 Complete

Ethno World is advertised as being the ultimate sample library for ethnic instruments and voices from all over the world, which I guess includes just about anything that isn’t typically found in a western classical orchestra or used by standard rock, jazz and electronic bands. Given that the world is a big place, it’s not surprising that the library comprises 28,789 samples and 320 distinct sound sources, and is over 21 gigabytes in size.

The Complete version of Ethno World (reviewed here) combines a 14.9GB Instruments library and 6.53GB Voices library, but either component can be purchased on its own if the other is not required. As for the 6 in the title, that tells us that there have been five previous versions (spanning 16 years), and therefore many opportunities for Best Service to refine the interface design and expand and improve the sound palette.

Voices is divided into folders for North America, South America, Europe, Africa, West Asia and East Asia, and each of these has sub-divisions relating to specific countries or musical styles. In the South America folder, for example, there’s a Jamaican Voices sub-folder containing a set of reggae licks. As for Alpine Yodelling, Gregorian Chants and Human Whistling, they are sub-folders nestling inside Europe. Indeed, Ethno World is very folder rich, so it does sometimes take a while to search through and find what you’re after.

The Instruments library is even more folder heavy, but instead of focussing on country of origin, the designers have grouped certain types of instruments together. Woodwind and brass are separated from bowed instruments, for example, and there are individual folders for keyboard instruments, drums, and stringed instruments. It’s certainly worth setting aside a couple of hours to explore all the instrument types and read the descriptions that are provided by the Info tab pages within each interface, just to get to grips with what’s on offer. Not only is there a picture of the original instrument and notes on its construction, there are also details on how the real thing is played and how that has been implemented within Kontakt, which is all very useful to know when trying to settle on the right thing for a job.

The Kontakt interfaces themselves are reassuringly standardised throughout all the folders and across both the Vocal and Instrument libraries. By default, all interfaces open on the Quick Edit tab view, which is the first of six page views. Here, the user is given a panel of sliders for making fast adjustments to things like the sample speed, tuning, start point and starting range. Its neighbouring panel has a similar set of sliders, but these tackle volume, pan, velocity, pitch-bend range, attack, release and low- and high-pass filtering. Edits made with the sliders work on a sample-by-sample basis, unless the Edit All button is activated, in which case all the samples that are assigned to that particular interface’s virtual keyboard are affected together.

If the sliders on the Quick Edit page are not quite doing the job, the user still has the option of making more in-depth sound modifications. On the Group Edit page, for example, it’s possible to shape ADSR envelopes for the volume and high- and low-pass filters, and to alter things like cutoff frequency and resonance percentage. Elsewhere, on the Microtuning tab, very precise tuning alterations can be made to each note in the scale, with the help of a click-and-drag graphic.

Another way to affect the samples is offered by the Performance tab, which includes a legato mode fitted with controls that change the way notes glide into one another and crossfade. A touch of randomness can also be introduced via the controls of the Humanize section, and there’s even a section for introducing two user-specified harmonising notes.

A convolution reverb is always in view regardless of the selected tab, but other effects can be added and adjusted using an Effects tab, where there is a compressor, EQ, delay, chorus, phaser and saturation processor.

Given that so many of the electronic dance and trance tracks from the mid-1990s featured soaring ethnic vocal samples, it’s hard to imagine how some of the Ethno World Voices recordings can be used in a fresh and original way. It’s certainly very easy to change things like the sample start point and its attack and release characterises, and to alter the general feel of the audio using some of the in-built effects, but the software isn’t really designed for chopping things up and processing them in an extreme way. Nevertheless, the quality and range of material on offer is impressive, so I guess it’s up to songwriters to find original ways to use it!

Almost anything can be made into an instrument, so it’s unreasonable to expect the Ethno World Instruments component to be totally inclusive, however, I think most bases are covered in some way. Obviously film and TV composers will find a lot of useful material here, but jazz, rock and electronic producers could also benefit from the vast palette of sounds on offer.

Some potential buyers might be put off by the price, but when looked at on a price-per-instrument basis, it works out as a much cheaper way to purchase a comprehensive sound library than buying instruments separately. As for the sound quality, I found it to be uniformly excellent. Overall this is a solid, impressive and reliable product that confirms the adage that you get what you pay for.

Best Service has announced the release of Ethno World 6 Complete, a Kontakt Player sample library featuring a collection of ethnic instruments and voices from all over the world.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete is the summit of a library that has continuously grown and been improved over a period of 16 years. In this sixth edition, 80 new instruments and voices with a volume of 13 gigabytes have been added to the library.

Awarded film-composer Marcel Barsotti (e. g. Pope Joan, The Miracle of Bern) has gathered a gigantic selection of instruments from all over the word and has additionally recorded a wide choice of solo-voices and choirs from widely varying cultures.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete now consists of 320 instruments and voices being summarized in approx. 800 patches. For the most authentic sound, the instruments have been recorded with different play techniques that can be easily and precisely accessed from the patches by key-switches. The library consists of 33.4 gigabytes (uncompressed) of sample data and 28,789 samples. All instruments are delivered in a resolution of 24 bit and 44.1 kHz.

For the recordings that have been carried out under the direction of producer Andreas Hofner, over 70 musicians and singers from all over the world were involved. Recordings took place in different local studios with the use of first-class gear such as microphones by Neumann and Brauner, SPL preamplifiers and converters by RME.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete comprises an incredible spectrum of instruments and voices from the most diverse regions of Asia, Africa, Europe, North- and South-America. Here, you will find the fitting instruments and voice-recordings for folkloric, ethnic as well as for modern music.

The Accordion is capable of producing four timbres for the right keyboard (namely piccolo, concertina, clarinet, and bassoon), as well as two bass registers for the left.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete is the summit of a library that has continuously grown and been improved over a period of 16 years. In this sixth edition, 80 new instruments and voices with a volume of 13 gigabytes have been added to the library.

Awarded film-composer Marcel Barsotti (e. g. Pope Joan, The Miracle of Bern) has gathered a gigantic selection of instruments from all over the word and has additionally recorded a wide choice of solo-voices and choirs from widely varying cultures.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete now consists of 320 instruments and voices being summarized in approx. 800 patches. For the most authentic sound, the instruments have been recorded with different play techniques that can be easily and precisely accessed from the patches by key-switches. The library consists of 33.4 gigabytes (uncompressed) of sample data and 28,789 samples. All instruments are delivered in a resolution of 24 bit and 44.1 kHz.

For the recordings that have been carried out under the direction of producer Andreas Hofner, over 70 musicians and singers from all over the world were involved. Recordings took place in different local studios with the use of first-class gear such as microphones by Neumann and Brauner, SPL preamplifiers and converters by RME.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete comprises an incredible spectrum of instruments and voices from the most diverse regions of Asia, Africa, Europe, North- and South-America. Here, you will find the fitting instruments and voice-recordings for folkloric, ethnic as well as for modern music.

The library contains an extensive selection of stringed instruments, plucked and bowed for the recordings, as well as the most different woodwinds including numerous flutes and, of course, a large selection of drums and percussion

Beside the film-score-proven taikos and big ethnic tom drums, there are hundreds of inspiring loops and even a complete category which is dedicated to “Gongs, Bells & Metal Type Instruments”, ranging from the large big feng gong to delicately sparkling wind chimes. New in ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete are some unique sounds such as the two meter spanning gong by Paiste, several new percussion-instruments and a waterphone.

Almost all sections of the predecessor have been expanded once again. In addition, a couple of instruments of ETHNO WORLD 5 have been re-recorded, among then a new mandolin and a great sounding banjo programmed with countless articulations and licks, being played by one of Germanys best banjo-players, Rüdiger Helbig.

Furthermore, you will now find a concertina, an autoharp, a Japanese koto, the aforementioned new mandolin with multiple play styles, a South-American charango, a bansuri, bass quena and an Indian flute plus additional play styles for the instruments launeddas, mancosedda, dvojacka and the Irish traverse flute.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete offers extensive solo-voices, phrases and choirs from Cameroon, Guinea, China, Iran, Turkey, Bulgaria, Northern Africa, Spain and Ukraine. The voices and choirs have been expanded by new contributions from Africa, Arabia, Jamaica and India. For example, the Houari Algerian rai singer is not only perfectly predestined to create an authentic atmosphere but equally suited to be used in EDM and Hip-Hop.

Equally extraordinary are the Mongolian overtone singings, the voices of the Chinese opera, Arabian, Indian and African choirs and solo-voices as well as the chants of American natives. Thus, there is a versatile choice of voices being usable in the wide range of film-scoring, for ethnic- or traditional music but also suited for modern music productions.

With its choice of instruments and voices, ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete is the perfect library for film- and television productions that demand authentic sounds from specifiy regions of the world. Naturally, the instruments and voices also lend themselves to be used in music productions of diverse genres that embrace these specific sonic elements – from pop to ambient to dance.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete contains all sounds of the previous versions, being sorted in the categories “Bowed Instruments”, “Stringed Instruments”, “Woodwind & Brass”, “Key Instruments”, “World Drums”, “World Percussion” and “Gongs, Bells & Metals” and “Voices”.

In addition, a good number of special instruments have been newly recorded for version 6. ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete also unlocks an entire new region by offering a complete ensemble of alpine folk music including plucking instruments, brass as well as male and female yodelers. Find instruments like the Styrian harmonica, a nylon stringed concert guitar, zither, raffele, dulcimer, alpenhorn, flugelhorn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, folk-violin and two clarinets. And of course, an acoustic bass is not missing.

For historical contexts, such as historic drams and fantasy movies, ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete offers a large selection of medieval instruments, among them a hurdy gurdy, renaissance lute, fife, doucaine, shawm, pasalterium, pump organ and a shruti box. In short: all instruments needed for songs about fire and ice.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete uses the free Kontakt 5 Player by Native Instruments as its sample-engine and can of course be used with the full version of Kontakt 5, too. For the new version, the user-interface has been completely redesigned graphically and optimized for ultra fast access. There are numerous editing possibilities as well as innovative functions. ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete supports the Native Kontrol Standard (NKS), which allows tagging and interaction with the NI Komplete Kontrol keyboards and NI Maschine.

Further additions are a new waveform display, visualization of the sample-start-offset as well as a clearer use of the effects where, among other features, delay times are now displayed in tempo-related note values and milliseconds. The Timemachine (TM PRO) delivers significantly improved audio results with tempo adapted material, especially for polyphonic licks and loops.

And this is not only a benefit for the newly recorded sounds of ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete but also for all sounds of ETHNO WORLD 5 which have been completely reworked in this regard. At the same time, the number of patches has been reduced leading to a clearer menu structure

Thanks to the integrated convolution reverb, all instruments and voices sound exceptionally realistic and natural. Solo instruments additionally offer a high-quality legato mode. Plus, the humanize mode will lend each new note as slightly changed timbre. The micro-tuning allows the use of multiple ethnical tunings and scales. By using top-quality filters, LFOs, tune, automation, harmonizer and further effects, all instruments and voices can be efficiently edited and manipulated if needed, allowing to create new sonic worlds equally suited for modern music genres and film productions.

A unique feature of ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete is the integrated IDB-INFO (Information Database) being directly addressable from every instrument and voice. Via the menu entry “IDB-INFO”, you can access photos of the instruments as well as many details about their original play techniques and tunings, origin and variations. THE INTERFACE

ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete uses the free Kontakt 5 Player by Native Instruments as its sample-engine and can of course be used with the full version of Kontakt 5, too. For the new version, the user-interface has been completely redesigned graphically and optimized for ultra fast access. There are numerous editing possibilities as well as innovative functions. ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete supports the Native Kontrol Standard (NKS), which allows tagging and interaction with the NI Komplete Kontrol keyboards and NI Maschine.

Further additions are a new waveform display, visualization of the sample-start-offset as well as a clearer use of the effects where, among other features, delay times are now displayed in tempo-related note values and milliseconds. The Timemachine (TM PRO) delivers significantly improved audio results with tempo adapted material, especially for polyphonic licks and loops.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Complete is the summit of a library that has continuously been growing and improving for over 16 years. In this sixth edition, 80 new instruments and voices with a volume of 13 gigabytes have been added to the library.

Marcel BarsottiAward-winning film composer Marcel Barsotti (e. g. Pope Joan, The Miracle of Bern) gathered a gigantic selection of instruments from all over the word. He additionally recorded a wide range of solo-voices and choirs from widely varying cultures.

Für einen authentischen Klang wurden die Instrumente in unterschiedlichen Spielweisen aufgenommen, die sich in den Patches mit Keyswitches schnell und gezielt aufrufen lassen. Die Library hat einen Umfang von 24,7 GB (uncompressed) und 23.559 Samples. Alle Instrumente liegen in einer Auflösung von 24 Bit und 44.1 kHz vor.

An den Aufnahmen, die unter der Leitung von Musikproduzent Andreas Hofner entstanden, waren mehr als 70 Musiker aus aller Welt beteiligt. Über sechs Jahre ist es nun her, dass der Vorgänger von Ethno World 6 erschienen ist. Nun steht der Nachfolger an und hält einige Neuerungen parat. Ethno World 6 Complete besteht nun aus insgesamt 28.789 Samples, die in einer Auflösung von 24 Bit und 44,1 kHz vorliegen und in insgesamt ca. 800 Patches münden. Die Library besteht dabei aus zwei Teilen: Ethno World 6 Instruments und Ethno World 6 Voices, die man auch einzeln erwerben kann.

Der Kopf hinter der Library ist der preisgekrönte Filmkomponist Marcel Barsotti, wobei sich der Musikproduzent Andreas Hofner für die Leitung der Aufnahmen der mehr als 70 Musiker und Sänger aus aller Welt verantwortlich zeichnet.

Kontakt Player Engine & NKS Support

Ethno World 6 basiert auf der Kontakt Player Engine aus dem Hause Native Instruments. Käuflich erwerben, registrieren und herunterladen kann man die Library über Best Service, dabei ist die 33,4 GB schwere Library auch als Boxed-Version auf zwei Discs erhältlich.

Unterstützt werden folgende Schnittstellen: AAX native, AU, RTAS und VST. Auch kann Ethno World 6 über den Kontakt Player im Standalone-Modus betrieben werden.

Die Installation geht einfach vonstatten. Nach der Installation muss das Produkt lediglich über Kontakt als Library hinzugefügt und über Native Access von Native Instruments zusätzlich registriert werden und schon kann es losgehen.

Ein Highlight: Ethno World 6 unterstützt nun den NKS-Standard, so dass die Library auch im Zusammenspiel mit Komplete Kontrol genutzt werden kann.

Ethno World 6 Voices unterteilt sich in die Kategorien: North America, South America, Europa, Africa, West Asia, East Asia. Darunter befinden sich dann weitere Unterkategorien. Beim Navigieren durch die Samples helfen dabei die klaren Beschreibungen, so dass man sich schnell zurechtfindet. Insgesamt ist die Vielfalt, Qualität und Authentizität der Samples fantastisch, was anhand des nachfolgenden Soundbeispiels deutlich wird. Egal ob man Vocal-Phrasen, Licks, Chants oder gar vollständige Songpassagen sucht, bei Ethno World 6 Voices wird man auf jeden Fall fündig.

Natürlich ist Ethno World 6 dabei nicht nur ein Sample-Player, sondern stellt den Nutzern zusätzlich eine Vielzahl an Klangbearbeitungsmöglichkeiten zur Verfügung. So lassen sich Effekte hinzuschalten, der Start- und Endpunkt der Samples bestimmen, die Schnelligkeit und Tonhöhe verändern und um weiche Übergänge zu erzielen steht auch bei Ethno World Voices ein Legato-Modus zur Verfügung. So braucht man eigentlich keine weiteren Plug-ins, um das gewünschte Klangergebnis zu erzielen.

Den zentralen Ausgangspunkt bildet dabei immer das Quick Edit-Fenster, das die wichtigsten Klangbearbeitungsfunktionen auf einem Screen vereint. Wer tiefer einsteigen möchte, kann über eine Reiternavigation in die Sektionen Effects, Group Edit, Microtuning, Performance und IDB-Info eintauchen. Manche Sektionen halten dabei weitere Untermenüs bereit wie beispielsweise Effects, wo sich ein Compressor-, Saturation-, Delay-, Chorus-, Phaser-, und ein EQ-Modul verbergen. Durch die Unterteilung der Sektionen bleibt das User-Interface dabei stets übersichtlich.

Effekte satt. Ethno World 6 bietet eine Vielzahl an Klangbearbeitungsmöglichkeiten, so dass man ohne zusätzliche externe Plug-ins das gewünschte Klangergebnis erzielen kann.

Der Reverb ist von allen Fenstern aus zugänglich und kann durch einen Schieberegler in der Intensität gesteuert werden. Weitere Bearbeitungsmöglichkeiten gibt es bei Klick auf den Button, so dass man die Effektart, Größe des Reverbs und das Pre Delay zusätzlich den eigenen Wünschen entsprechend einstellen kann.

Das User-Interface von Ethno World 6 Instruments ist genauso aufgebaut wie Ethno World 6 Vocals, nur dass eben hier der Fokus rein auf Instrumenten, Loops und Licks liegt. Insgesamt gibt es neun Kategorien: Bowed Instruments, Construction Sets, Gamelan Orchestra, Gongs, Bells & Metals, Key Instruments, Stringed Instruments, Woodwind and Brass, World Drums und World Percussions.

Aus insgesamt neun Kategorien kann man sich bei Ethno World 6 Instruments bedienen. Jede Kategorie beinhaltet darüber hinaus eine Vielzahl weiterer Unterordner.

Alleine die Kategorie Stringed Instruments hält dabei so viele weitere Unterordner parat, dass sie gar nicht alle auf einem Screen in der Kontakt-Menüleiste dargestellt werden können.

Die einzelnen Unterordner halten viele Instrumente bereit, die einen beim Anspielen bereits für eigene Kompositionen inspirieren

Beim Durchstöbern der Klänge fällt einem sofort die hohe Qualität der unterschiedlichen Instrumente auf. Die Samples sind sehr detailliert, wodurch sich jeder Klang durch die Anschlagsstärke der Tastatur zum Leben erwecken lässt. Das macht Spaß und inspiriert. Durch die Vielzahl der Instrumente eignet sich die Library daher nicht nur ausschließlich für Filmmusik oder ethnische Musikrichtungen, sondern auch für moderne Genres und Produktionen, die durch die außergewöhnlichen, authentisch klingenden Instrumente einen besonderen Touch bekommen sollen. Das Soundbeispiel Ethno Dance verdeutlicht es ganz gut, dabei stammen lediglich die Beats nicht von Ethno World 6.

Genau wie beim Pendant Ethno World 6 Voices stehen auch bei den Instrumenten sämtliche Klangbearbeitungsparameter zur Verfügung. Die Reiternavigation ist dabei identisch aufgebaut, so dass man sich im Nu zurechtfindet. Praktisch ist dabei auch die Mircrotuning Sektion, damit man die Instrumente stimmen kann, so dass sich alle Instrumente tonal in die eigene Produktion harmonisch einfügen.

Ethno World 6 Voices – The ultimate Sample-library for ethnic Voices from all over the World.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Instruments is the summit of a library that has continuously grown and been improved over a period of 16 years. In this sixth edition, numerous new instruments with a volume of several gigabytes have been added to the library.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Instruments now consists of 264 instruments, being summarized in approximately 620 patches, 10 construction sets and 5 shaker sets. For the most authentic sound, the instruments have been recorded with different play techniques that can be easily and precisely accessed from the patches by key-switches. The library consists of 24.7 gigabytes (uncompressed) of sample data and 23,559 samples. All instruments are delivered in a resolution of 24 bit and 44.1 kHz.

For the recordings that have been carried out under the direction of producer Andreas Hofner, over 70 musicians from all over the world were involved. Recordings took place in different local studios with the use of first-class gear such as microphones by Neumann and Brauner, SPL preamplifiers and converters by RME.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Instruments comprises an incredible spectrum of instruments from the most diverse regions of Asia, Africa, Europe, North- and South-America. Here, you will find the fitting instruments for folkloric, ethnic as well as for modern music.

The library contains an extensive selection of stringed instruments, plucked and bowed for the recordings, as well as the most different woodwinds including numerous flutes and, of course, a large selection of drums and percussion.

Beside the film-score-proven taikos and big ethnic tom drums, there are hundreds of inspiring loops and even a complete category which is dedicated to “Gongs, Bells & Metal Type Instruments”, ranging from the large big feng gong to delicately sparkling wind chimes. New in ETHNO WORLD 6 Instruments are some unique sounds such as the two meter spanning gong by Paiste, several new percussion-instruments and a waterphone.

NEW AND IMPROVED SOUNDS

Almost all sections of the predecessor have been expanded once again. In addition, a couple of instruments of ETHNO WORLD 5 have been re-recorded, among then a new mandolin and a great sounding banjo programmed with countless articulations and licks, being played by one of Germanys best banjo-players, Rüdiger Helbig.

AUTHENTIC INSTRUMENTS

Furthermore, you will now find a concertina, an autoharp, a Japanese koto, the aforementioned new mandolin with multiple play styles, a South-American charango, a bansuri, bass quena and an Indian flute plus additional play styles for the instruments launeddas, mancosedda, dvojacka and the Irish traverse flute.

CONTENT

ETHNO WORLD 6 Instruments contains all sounds of the previous versions, being sorted in the categories “Bowed Instruments”, “Stringed Instruments”, “Woodwind & Brass”, “Key Instruments”, “World Drums”, “World Percussion” and “Gongs, Bells & Metals”.

In addition, a good number of special instruments have been newly recorded for version 6. Among these is the new “Gamelan” category containing two different gamelan orchestras from Bali and Java, available in slendro, pelog and international tunings, being recorded in Munich’s Stadtmuseum. Here, you will find more than 25 instruments such as kempli, kendhang drums, cheng cheng, bells, kecer cymbals, kethuk and kempiang.

ETHNO WORLD 6 Instruments also unlocks an entire new region by offering a complete ensemble of alpine folk music including plucking instruments, brass as well as male and female yodelers. Find instruments like the Styrian harmonica, a nylon stringed concert guitar, zither, raffele, dulcimer, alpenhorn, flugelhorn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, folk-violin and two clarinets. And of course, an acoustic bass is not missing.

For historical contexts, such as historic drams and fantasy movies, ETHNO WORLD 6 Instruments offers a large selection of medieval instruments, among them a hurdy gurdy, renaissance lute, fife, doucaine, shawm, pasalterium, pump organ and a shruti box. In short: all instruments needed for songs about fire and ice.

THE INTERFACE

ETHNO WORLD 6 Instruments uses the free Kontakt 5 Player by Native Instruments as its sample-engine and can of course be used with the full version of Kontakt 5, too. For the new version, the user-interface has been completely redesigned graphically and optimized for ultra fast access. There are numerous editing possibilities as well as innovative functions. ETHNO WORLD 6 Instruments supports the Native Kontrol Standard (NKS), which allows tagging and interaction with the NI Komplete Kontrol keyboards and NI Maschine.

Further additions are a new waveform display, visualization of the sample-start-offset as well as a clearer use of the effects where, among other features, delay times are now displayed in tempo-related note values and milliseconds. The Timemachine (TM PRO) delivers significantly improved audio results with tempo adapted material, especially for polyphonic licks and loops.

And this is not only a benefit for the newly recorded sounds of ETHNO WORLD 6 Instruments but also for all sounds of ETHNO WORLD 5 which have been completely reworked in this regard. At the same time, the number of patches has been reduced leading to a clearer menu structure.

REALISTIC AND NATURAL

Thanks to the integrated convolution reverb, all instruments sound exceptionally realistic and natural. Solo instruments additionally offer a high-quality legato mode. Plus, the humanize mode will lend each new note as slightly changed timbre. The micro-tuning allows the use of multiple ethnical tunings and scales. By using top-quality filters, LFOs, tune, automation, harmonizer and further effects, all instruments and voices can be efficiently edited and manipulated if needed, allowing to create new sonic worlds equally suited for modern music genres and film productions.
