LoadLibrary fails to load dll with error code 126, when building in Visual Studio

What happens is that if I run the following through the Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Command Prompt:

Sometimes LoadLibrary fail with error code 126

Currently, I’m using LoadLibrary function to load my xxx.dll file (xxx.dll is my private dll file). It works normally, however, sometimes it fails to load library with error code 126.

DllPath (of type std::wstring ) is the path to my dll file.

I researched the error and it means that «The module could not be found», but I checked that the directory is right and the dll file still exists.

My dll file is a 32 bit dll and OS is windows 64 bit and dll file is loaded when starting service.

It rarely happens and currently I cannot reproduce this error. However, whenever the error happens, it will be always failed to load dll file and there is only one way to fix this is removing and reinstalling the software.

Does anyone know what is the possible reason of this issue?

I had once encountered this issue with a private DLL; I had a test program that performs a LoadLibrary against the private DLL and I got error 126. I took a look into it and was able to fix the error:

It appears this happens because of static vs dynamic link against the DLL’s dependencies. More specifically, the private DLL depends on OpenCV, and links against the following files:

Those OpenCV library files can be either built in «static» mode or «dynamic» mode. When these files are built in «dynamic» mode, LoadLibrary of the private DLL gives error 126. When OpenCV is built in «static» mode, all the OpenCV routines will become part of the private DLL, the private DLL becomes larger (28 MB vs 41 MB), and the private DLL can be loaded correctly with one LoadLibrary call.

LoadLibrary failed with error code 126 if app started from installation option

I have two application and install in different folders, let call it app A and B, A is main application and B is an COM module, A will start B through COM API after A started, there are some DLLs need to be loaded by B while B started, if I start A by double click the shortcut of A, every thing is ok, but if I install A, and start A by check the start A option in the last dialog of the installation, then B is started, but one of the DLLs load failed with error code 126 (ERROR_MOD_NOT_FOUND), if I exit and restart again by double click the shortcut, it works again.

Already do some googles and seems the only difference between start from shortcut and installation is current directory, ie, if start from installation option, same as start from the installer package folder with cmd, like open cmd, switch to the folder of installer package, then start app A with full path, I have try this, also works well.

My installer package is build by installshield.

Is anyone have some clues about this issue?

Error 126 is what you get when a dependent DLL can not be found. There are two obvious causes for this:

I doubt that option 1 is the problem but in any case I think I would probably be using a full path to that DLL to be sure.

Probably, on the machine that you developed the DLL, you have installed a C++ compiler and that installed the runtime for you. On your target machine, where the code fails, you have not installed the compiler and so the runtime is not present.

Can anyone guess the problem with my application. I can able to load the same DLL in debug mode and through IDE but while running exe, its giving memory exception since loadlibrary returns a null pointer.

one reason for this error can be a missing dependency. You could use the tool dependency walker to check the dependencies of your dll. (http://flashexperiments.insh-allah.com/ApacheError126.html might be usefull to see how you could track this down.)

It could also help to use the process monitor tool to see what files windows tries to open when it tries to load the library (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645)

If the problem is missing dependecy, it should not load the same DLL after reducing its size. But it loaded the DLL from same exe without any configuration change. Is that tool useful in tracking memory related problems?

I have to add up some more details here.

as far as I know there is no limitation regarding size when loading a DLL (At least not at 50KB. There are limitations regarding memory of course but these do not apply in this small regions.).

I really recommend to check with dependency walker and with the process monitor. The error code 126 is this ERROR_MOD_NOT_FOUND so something that is required is not found.

And also be aware that the linker is doing a lot of optimizations. I have no details what you are doing exactly but some explanation could be:
— When you comment parts of the code (to make the DLL smaller) it works, because the linker is optimizing the result and is removing dependencies that are not used
— The compiler and linker flags are different between Debug and Release. Maybe you even have some precompiler directives inside the code which makes the debug and release 2 different applications.

So it could be a nice try to compare the dependencies of the different DLLs:
— the debug compiled DLL that is working
— the release compiled DLL that is not working
— the release compiled DLL with code commented out that can be loaded.

Maybe you can find the reason for the error that way. Or you simply try to start the release compiled version that fails and check what is going on with the process explorer.

Многие пользователи компьютерных систем на основе Windows зачастую сталкиваются с проблемой, когда выдается сообщение о том, что не найден указанный модуль (126-я ошибка). Как его интерпретировать, знают далеко не все, да и вопрос о том, со сбоем какого именно устройства связана такая неполадка, часто вызывает недоумение. Разберемся, что к чему.

Причины и устройства, вызывающие ошибку «Не найден указанный модуль»

Сам сбой с означенной ошибкой, в общем-то, ничего особо серьезного в плане последствий для работы операционных систем Windows не представляет.

Такая ошибка может возникать в самых разных ситуациях, но, как показывает практика, в большинстве случаев это может сводиться к неправильному опознаванию поврежденных динамических библиотек, отключенных устройств HID (например, USB-мыши) или служб, интерпретирующих корректный доступ к серверным функциям ОС.

Ошибка «Не найден указанный модуль»: решение проблемы для видеокарт Radeon

К великому сожалению поклонников графических чипсетов от компании Radeon, именно эти видеоадаптеры в наибольшей степени подвержены сбоям такого рода. Даже при корректно установленных драйверах может наблюдаться конфликт с использованием функций OpenGL.

В случае, когда система выдает уведомление о том, что не найден указанный модуль dll, может быть три пути решения этой проблемы: либо обновление драйверов видеокарты до последней версии, либо установка наиболее актуальных версий DirectX, либо непосредственное вмешательство в систему при помощи командной строки и выполнения нескольких последующих действий.

С первыми двумя способами, думается, и так все понятно, так что на них останавливаться мы не будем. Но вот о ручном исправлении проблемы стоит поговорить отдельно. Сейчас объяснять, как будут действовать нижеприведенные команды, не стоит (особенно с программной или технической точки зрения). Достаточно того, что они просто работают.

Устройства HID

Так называемые интеллектуальные устройства HID тоже могут вызывать ошибки вроде «Не найден указанный модуль». С ними ситуация в некотором смысле складывается так же, как и с графическим оборудованием, однако в большинстве случаев проблема сводится только к тому, что по каким-либо причинам были повреждены или удалены файлы драйвера.

В такой ситуации, например, для Windows XP, необходимо загрузиться с установочного или восстановительного диска (например, Live CD), найти в инсталляционном дистрибутиве файл с названием Drivers.cab, который обычно располагается в папке i386, и извлечь из него три основных компонента: mouclass.sys, mouhid.sys и hidserv.dll.

После этого нужно обязательно перезагрузить компьютер в безопасном режиме (клавиша F8 при старте Windows), затем скопировать указанные файлы в директорию System32 корневой папки Windows. Далее – еще одна перезагрузка ОС, но уже в обычном режиме. Как правило, после этого система работает стабильно в нормальном режиме и без всяких сбоев.

Серверные ошибки

С доступом к серверам тоже могут возникать непредвиденные сложности. В этом случае (аналогично предыдущим ситуациям) появляется ошибка «Не найден указанный модуль». Бороться с ней придется через редактор системного реестра, который вызывается командой regidit в меню «Выполнить» (сочетание Win + R).

Здесь нам понадобится зайти в ветку HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEM, далее – CurrentControlSet, затем по «дереву» – Services, а в заключение – раздел parameters, расположенный в ветке lanmanserver. Здесь необходимо ввести значение «%SystemRoot%System32srvsvc.dll», конечно, если указано любое другое. Тут дело в том, что сама ОС Windows воспринимает любой – что внутренний, что внешний – сервер именно как общее понятие «сервер» и не делает особой разницы даже при условии разных параметров доступа.

В итоге, как уже понятно, если и возникает ошибка, связанная с тем, что почему-то не найден указанный модуль, решить проблемы все же можно, причем делается это довольно просто, и никаких критических сбоев в системе в дальнейшем не предвидится. Но сначала желательно определить природу ошибки, и только потом уже принимать решение в пользу ее исправления. Каким оно станет, зависит только от того, в каком компоненте наблюдается сбой: в программном или в железном.

Конечно, здесь описаны далеко не все проблемы, которые могут возникать в связи с такими ошибками. Однако в нашем случае это наиболее распространенные виды сбоев и самые практичные методы их исправления. Нельзя исключать и вариант, когда неполадки могут быть связаны и с самим «железом», то есть драйвера и вовсе ни при чем, а вот именно «железо» придется менять. Впрочем, это, как говорится, самые крайние случаи, к которым следует прибегать, когда уже ничего не помогает (да и от самого пользователя или операционной системы не зависит). Но это уже совсем другая история.

Как же исправить данную ошибку в операционных системах XP и Windows 7 и запустить USB-устройство?

Данную ошибку с кодом 126 можно исправить достаточно просто. Для этого существует два метода.

В первом случае службу можно попытаться запустить самостоятельно. Для этого жмём «Win+R» и вводим «services.msc».

В списке служб находим «Доступ к HID-устройствам» для Windows XP или «Windows Modules Installer» для Windows 7. Двойным щелчком открываем настройки. Во вкладке «Общее» в типе запуска меняем значение «Автоматически» на «Вручную». После кликаем «Запустить».

Перезагружаем ПК и проверяем статус службы, который должен быть обозначен как «Включён».

Если этот метод не сработал, стоит взять установочный диск Windows той же версии и разрядности системы, найти файлы «hidserv.dll», «mouclass.sys», «mouhid.sys», скопировать их и заменить в диске С, папке «Windows», «System32», «drivers». Только вставка новых файлов должна осуществляться в безопасном режиме.

После выполнения данных действий перезагружаем систему и проверяем работоспособность девайсов.

If the issue is occurring when a remote connection is used to access the system, then the improper usage of graphics properties of the host may trigger the issue at hand. Here, editing the system’s Group Policy about the remote connection to force the proper usage of the graphics properties may solve the problem.

Uninstall A Java Version

If an application (like Minecraft) requires JAVA but the system has two Java versions installed (like a 32-bit and other, 64-bit), then that may break the operation of the application and cause loadlibrary failed with error 126. In this case, uninstalling a Java version may solve the problem.

Update or Reinstall the Graphics Driver

You may encounter loadlibrary failed with error 126 if the system’s graphics driver is outdated or corrupt as it can lead to the incompatibility between the other OS modules (like the application showing the error) and the driver. Note that even if the DLL is in your path. If that DLL relies on other DLLs that are NOT in your path, you can get the same error. Windows could not find a dependency in this case. Windows is not real good at telling you what it could not find, only that it did not find something. It is up to you to figure that out. In my case, being sure all needed dlls were in the same directory and doing a os.chdir() to that directory solved the problem.

Note: looks very similar to #33842, but I’m opening a new issue since that is closed and old.

Basically I’m having the same issue here. This is my project which has 3 crates: one static lib, one dynamic lib (cdylib) and an executable.
The dynamic lib (ecs_game) depends on the static lib (ecs_engine) and gets compiled into a single DLL. The executable (ecs_runner) then loads the DLL dynamically (I’m using the libloading crate for that).
Here is what happens:

I also tried to create a small C program that uses LoadLibraryA directly to load the library and it gives the same exact error.
Am I doing something wrong here?

(this is the C loader:)

Note that if I link the DLL at link-time, it works fine. It’s just dynamic loading that gives problems.

Эта проблема возникает, если будет изменена следующая подкайка реестра:

Решение

Error 126 means that the library is not found. So change the name when referring the lib.

This can also mean that the dll that is being loaded relies on other dlls in the same folder. If that folder is not in the search path (as is our case) then you will get the 126 error meaning that it can not find the dll or one of the dlls that it needs. As it turns out win32-dlfcn.cc changed in a recent release and broke our code. It went from using LoadLibraryEx to using LoadLibraryW which handles search paths differently. The fix is to go back to using LoadLibraryExW with the flag LOAD_WITH_ALTERED_SEARCH_PATH or using SetDllDirectory(. ) with LoadLibraryW. A third option (which we can not use) is to make sure that the path to the dll(s) is in the systems environment path.

I added a new issue with a better explanation, issue #322 (I don’t know if I should have but I was hoping to bring more attention to this issue). I also attached my fix to the win32-dlfcn.cc file that I use to that issue. It has been working for me. The easiest way to fix this is to simply add the path to the dlls to the system environment path, that way the function that needs to look up the dlls can find them. The way I did it was to modify win32-dlfcn.cc to temporarily add the path then remove it. Both ways work. To use the win32-dlfcn.cc fix, replace the current «node_modules\ffi\src\win32-dlfcn.cc» with the one that I attached in issue #322 then do an «npm rebuild ffi».

p.s. My fix to win32-dlfcn.cc has been working for me but has not been tested by anyone else. I posted it to issue #322 to maybe help someone else.

I got this issue after creating packager.
I was using my own dll. While developing app and running it with npm start, I got no error. It was working fine.
But when i created package using electron-packager, i got this issue.
The problem was that the new package created did not have my dll file.
The solution was, i copied and pasted it inside the package.. Its working now.

I have also run into the same issue. I have my own dll file which I’ve packaged into the asar. But the problem is I’m getting the Win32 error 126. So I ran the «asar l package.asar» to check if my dll made it into the package and it has. But still I do receive the same error. @ishwarrimal Could you please let me know what are the steps that you did in order to resolve this error.

@bsshashank I manually copied my dll file to the package that was created. It worked in my system at that time. But then later when i created installer and tried installing on other PC, I got some error. I don’t remember the error name, but the problem was that the dependencies were missing. The dll file generated was using some external tool, so it has some dependencies on the tool that was installed in my pc. Make use of dependency walker tool to see what dependency you’re missing.
Nwz for the error youre talking about, the only thing I did was copy paste of the dll file..kz while creating package, electron did not add the dll file in it.

The reason for the dll not being loaded after packaging into the asar was because it’s a legacy application and it was trying to create new files which is not possible inside an asar. I followed a different approach to solve this.

I modified the source code of the native application in order to change it’s working directory to that of the Documents folder of the user. So it works by creating the files inside the user’s documents folder and not in the asar itself.

Error code 193 is due to mixing and matching 32 bit with 64 bit. Most likely, you installed a 32 bit Dart SDK, and try to load a 64 bit shared library.

Checking it with Process Monitor I found out that every operation performed by my program was SUCCESS, but it returned with code 1.

What should be causing the error?

I just ran into the same problem. Dependency Walker didn’t help. I solved the problem with the help of Process Monitor, but I had to compare it’s output to a case (on a different machine) where the DLL actually loaded OK. From comparing LoadImage operations, I could see that LoadLibrary was failing because of a missing dependency vcruntime140.dll.

But wait there’s more! After I got jvm.dll loaded, I ran into another problem trying to find the main class. Same technique led me to see I was missing msvcp140.dll on the system that failed.

I added vcruntime140.dll and msvcp140.dll and now all is well.

Sorry, should have mentioned this was using OpenJDK 11.0.2.

This issue occurs if the following registry subkey is changed:

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you have to re-create the expandable string value of the registry subkey that is mentioned in the Cause section.

First, you have to check whether the registry subkey exists. To do this, start Registry Editor, and then browse to the subkey that is mentioned in the Cause section. If the subkey does not exist, you must create it. To do this, follow these steps:

Locate the C:\Windows\Servicing\Version directory, and note the name of the subfolder in this directory. It will be named something like 6.1.7600.16385. This is your TrustedInstaller ID.

Copy the subfolder name to the clipboard, and then paste it into Notepad for safekeeping.

In this example, the TrustedInstaller ID is 6.1.7601.17592.

In the C:\Windows\WinSxS directory, find a subfolder whose name begins with one of the following strings. (In the following subfolder names, the placeholder TrustedInstaller ID represents your TrustedInstaller ID.)

Sometimes LoadLibrary fail with error code 126

Currently, I’m using LoadLibrary function to load my xxx.dll file (xxx.dll is my private dll file). It works normally, however, sometimes it fails to load library with error code 126.

DllPath (of type std::wstring ) is the path to my dll file.

I researched the error and it means that «The module could not be found», but I checked that the directory is right and the dll file still exists.

My dll file is a 32 bit dll and OS is windows 64 bit and dll file is loaded when starting service.

Does anyone know what is the possible reason of this issue?

1. Скачиваем игру Minecraft Dungeons и распаковываем ее в любую папку

1. Читаем требования к системе.

2. Запускаем GDK_Helper.bat, который находится в папке с игрой. (выполняется единожды)

When trying to install the driver, I get the «LoadLibrary failed with error 126: The specified module could not be found.»

I tried extracting atio6xx.dll to C:\Windows\System32 manually and then running the above command with no luck.

This User in a previous AMD Forum Thread concerning a Consumer GPU card not a Professional GPU card with the same error 126 and fix that you tried with Command Prompt was fixed by using DDU in Safe mode. Then reinstalling the AMD Driver again.https://community.amd.com/thread/218291

If you use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) you need to have the internet disconnected and in Safe Mode. Once the computer boots up again, install the AMD Driver again with the internet still disconnected. Once it is installed and working correctly you can reconnect the internet.

See if that fixes your error 126 or not.

I tried your suggested solution.

I downloaded DDU, rebooted computer into safe mode with network cable unplugged, and performed the uninstall with the tool. The computer rebooted with the network cable still unplugged.

I was able to get past the initial package extraction unlike before from the AMD driver installer and tried proceeding installing with their driver software. The installation stopped with an error saying it «has been partially installed. General error during package installation.» (log info below).

Netbeans crashes after a while with error:

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling netbeans and java. I also tried few solutions posted earlier for this error, but its still not working.

I am using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Operating System.

Any help will be appreciated.

I tried the previous answer as well but it didn’t work. I think the above was pretty much right but what worked for me was that I had to uninstall my AMD driver and reinstall it for this to resolve. It must have been a bad dll or something.

uninstalled driver then either wait or restart for it to download the new driver. not really an elegant solution but it worked for me.

Probably a missing dll or broken uninstall from AMD drivers. Try this:

copy atio6axx.dll atiogl64.dll

Also you could use CCleaner or similar to remove all traces of AMD drivers and reinstall your video drivers.

I’m making a web browser using dcef (delphi chromium embedded framework), but afer install and make the program, an error message appears: «Could not find cefvcl». That’s a Win32 error code. Specifically:

Looks like you are missing a DLL.

Generally when you face this error you can debug it using the debugger. Arrange for the debugger to break on exceptions. The call stack should lead you back to the call to LoadLibrary that failed.

In the case of the problem being further down the library dependency chain, use a tool like Dependency Walker in Profile mode to work out which dependency is failing to resolve.

In your case I guess you are just missing the CEF DLLs.

Next, type in sfc/ scannow, hit enter, and let the scan run. This will check the integrity of your Windows system files.

Once the scan finishes, post EXACTLY what the report says about the completion of the scan, from within that same command prompt window.

It’s possible the library data has become corrupted somehow, so these would be my suggestions as of now.

LoadLibrary: Error 126 when compiling with Visual C++, but works fine with NetBeans/MingGW?

I’m having the following issue:

When compiling this with Netbeans/MinGW, everything works fine, the DLL is loaded and the output is «Loading Library: 0».

But when compiling the exact same code on the exact same machine with Visual C++ 2008 Express, I get the infamous 126 error: «Loading Library: 126».

This is only sample code to outline my problem. It’s part of a much larger project which works completely fine when compiled with Netbeans/MinGW, but which doesn’t load the DLLs when compiled with Visual C++.

Because your answer is incomplete and misses the real problem, I’ll elaborate here.

The reason the UNICODE version actually compiles is somewhat a bug/feature in MSVS that allows you to pass a char* to a wchar_t* without any message (you did turn on warnings, didn’t you?). This results in some misinterpreted string being passed to the Win32 API function, which fails to locate the garbled filename.

This is why I always call the *W versions of functions directly, and don’t bother with all the funny UNICODE stuff.

I’ve found the solution by now. FreeLibrary(«mystringpath.dll») apparently doesn’t work. But when I call the function with LPCWSTR, it works. So:

Produces ERROR_MOD_NOT_FOUND when compiled with Visual C++, but works when compiled with MinGW.

But the following works when compiled with Visual C++:

And returns ERROR_SUCCESS (0).

So all the allegedly missing dlls pointed out by dependency walker really weren’t the problem.

So the first code works only for MinGW, the second only for Visual C++.

Upon further research, I’ve realized that this fix is unnecessary. Apparently, the problem was that my Visual C++ project used the Unicode character set by default. After I changed it into the Multibyte Character Set in the project properties, the code pasted in the original question is working fine in Visual C++ as well.

Without some deeper troubleshooting and maybe even reinstalling windows, it should just work on Windows 8 32 bit systems. You can check your windows log files after load errors related to launching the game and see if it can give you a hint to what might be the cause. A driver that’s out of date or something. Some have solved «LoadLibrary error: 126» in other games by verifying driver installations or even reinstalling drivers. But I don’t know the exact nature of your specific 126 error.

Gurt, thanks for keeping in touch on this. I’ve tried event viewer and it appears to be logging two errors. The first reads:

Error: Failed to add firewall exception for C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\cef\cef.win7x64\steamwebhelper.exe

I’ve tried adding exceptions for all Steam and SFD entries in my firewall (Comodo) and in Windows Defender (even though I don’t use WD, but just wanted to cover all bases). I’ve even tried disabling both Comodo and WD for a very brief period, but nothing helps.

This is so frustrating, I just want to play the game! 🙁

Oh, I almost forgot the second error in the log. This has a time stamp 14 seconds after the firewall exception message and is a bit longer:

OK, I’ve just noticed something. The Event Viewer log says:

Error: Failed to add firewall exception for C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\cef\cef.win7x64\steamwebhelper.exe

But there’s actually no such directory. My steamwebhelper.exe file is in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\cef\cef.win7

Could that be what’s causing the problem?

Though this is my first question on the StackOverflow, I consider myself a long time member of the community.

Considering myself as a pre-intermediate programmer, I’ll try to be as specific as possible.

I’m writing a Python package that uses a C dll to load image files with ctypes. I’m using Python 3.3.5 32bits version on Windows 8 x64. I had to build the dll from the C code. The dll is stb_image.h which is available in GitHub. I used Code::Blocks version 13.12 with the GCC compiler. The dll seems to have built fine.

By my definition, the dll is must be in the same folder as the py code file that wraps its functions, but when ctypes attempts to load the dll an exception is raised: the [in]famous WindowsError: [Error 126] Module not found.

I’ve found several similar questions and attempted to glean from their solutions by

adding the dll path via os.environ[‘PATH’]

adding the dll path manually in the Path environment variable

changing the current working directory with os.chdir()

using the file module attribute to locate the library

none of these solved the issue

The stb_image library itself has no dependencies so I don’t understand why windows can’t find it since the dll is where it should be and the path addresses it’s exact location. And, of course, there’s a lot of other ways to get the job done: PyGame, pySFML (which also uses stb_image), PIL, PyPng, PySDL, you name it, but I’m doing this mostly for learning purposes.

At the writing of this question, something popped up in my head (which may or may not have any relation with the problem): whenever I compile and link programs with GCC and try to run them, I got a message box telling me that some dll (libgcc.dll or something like that) was not found. Could that be the reason Windows can’t load stb_image.dll?

I tried everything my experience allowed me to do to solve it but it was not enough. Would you guys, please, give me a light on this?

Sometimes LoadLibrary fail with error code 126

Currently, I’m using LoadLibrary function to load my xxx.dll file (xxx.dll is my private dll file). It works normally, however, sometimes it fails to load library with error code 126.

DllPath (of type std::wstring ) is the path to my dll file.

I researched the error and it means that «The module could not be found», but I checked that the directory is right and the dll file still exists.

My dll file is a 32 bit dll and OS is windows 64 bit and dll file is loaded when starting service.

Does anyone know what is the possible reason of this issue?

It appears this happens because of static vs dynamic link against the DLL’s dependencies. More specifically, the private DLL depends on OpenCV, and links against the following files:

Minecraft works perfectly in the chrome browser.

I get this as an eror when I attempt to start Minecraft on my computer.

I have attempted to use the common fix on the net. (changing atioglxx.dll to dll via cmd prompt)

I do not have atioglxx.dll file in my system32 folder. I found it in syswow64 folder and changed it there, But that did nothing.

I put everything back to before I stated changing things. Re-installed Java, minecraft and even tried running as admin. No dice.

I have Windows 7 Home 64x, Radeon HD 7950, 16gb ram, 2TB HD, i5 processor, so on and so on. I run Skyrim on Ultra High.

I looked at the FAQ, most of the links seem broken and haven’t been updated since alpha. I looked at the forums and googled and everything points to changing atioglxx.dll file. But that doesn’t work for me at all.

Is there a way to contact Mojang for customer support?

LoadLibrary failed with error 126

Since messing with my graphics drivers and java versions to get another game to run, I have been unable to run Minecraft at all, every startup attempt ends with an error 126 crash.

Running Radeon HD6770M with 12.8 drivers, Java 7 64&32.

Tried reinstalling the client, problem persists, not surprising.

Now here’s the kicker: I tried copying ATIOGLXX.dll with command prompt, but every time it returns «File not found»

I haven’t seen any fixes for this on any of my searches, so I’m guessing it’s a new problem, or I’ve f*ed up my GPU drivers somehow.

Advice is appreciated.

Deleting the display adapters is a little different from removing the drivers. I can certainly do that if you think that will help, but I will completely nerf my card (effectively pull it out of the computer) if I delete the adapters. I’ve done this once in the past, and I’m thinking it might actually be what’s causing the problem.

the Drivers are completely up to date though, I just removed&installed them a few days ago.

If you’re sure this will help, I can try it.

Edit: clarifying, the adapters are what make the computer work with the card, the drivers are what you get when you download from AMD.com without adapters, you have no graphics. (unless you have integrated)

EDIT: also tried copying atio6axx.dll. No effect.

EDIT2: reinstalled the game client. No effect.

Reinstalling HP drivers for my computer.

EDIT3: factory drivers have no effect.

Out of ideas. Really don’t want to remove my adapters, and I don’t see how that will fix this.

Secondly, the _drivers_ (not the adapters) can be removed from «Add or Remove Programs» in Control Panel. I’ve tried removing my _drivers_ completely, and reinstalling with the latest version from AMD, AND the factory driver from HP.

Third, I have a good idea how to work my graphics on my rig, but Radeon is famous for poor application support, so I’ve had to try different drivers, etc. to get the card to play other OpenGL games.

At this point, I’m not sure what else I can do. As it stands, my machine will not touch ANY OpenGL programs without crashing miserably. If it wasn’t a laptop, I’d already have replaced this stupid card.

The error 126 means Certadm.dll could not be found.

Please specify a full path or a relative path, so that the compiler could find your dll. If the string specifies a module name without a path, the function uses a standard search strategy to find the module.

When no path is specified, the function searches for loaded modules whose base name matches the base name of the module to be loaded. If the name matches, the load succeeds. Otherwise, the function searches for the file.
