Parker Hajiaskari is the main Protagonist in Life of Luxury, and the secondary Protagonist in Luxury Dark and Luxury Light. Along with his best friend Chester, he investigates strange entities reported by victims who have paranormal occurrences in their home.

Personality

Parker Hajiaskari, known as Parker, takes his job very seriously. He doesn’t seem to get lots of sleep, and he trusts the cameras more than his best friend, Chester. According to their actions in the videos they’re complete opposites.

In Luxury Dark, Chester often convinces him to buy random stuff off the Dark web despite being reluctant.

However, despite being a nice friend and overall approving of Chester’s actions, Parker has a dark side.

In later life of luxury videos, he is very dismissive of Chester, even to the point of snapping at him even though Chester is usually right. He doesn’t seem to care about his clients, rather he seems more interested in getting footage for his YouTube videos. This often leads to the kidnapping or deaths of his clients.

Parker also almost never tries to get the police involved even after people die, as shown in the newer episodes. This often is an almost unbelievable circumstance, as even when he sees dead characters, he never bats an eye.

As shown in «She Thought Her Little Brother Was Dead», Parker has an obvious crush on Milly, such as when he rubs her shoulder and holds her hands to comfort her. He also gets visibly upset when he finds out that she has a boyfriend. After Timmy is revealed to be alive, despite hesitation, Parker leaves Milly to die in order to not get hurt himself.

In «It waits until you fall asleep,» Parker admits he is attracted to Olivia. When he finds out they were catfished, he doesn’t get as angry as Chester. Rather, it is hinted that he has an admiration towards Chad (smiling when he taps him on the shoulder, feeling bad for yelling at him.) Later, when the monster attacks Chester, Parker is reluctant to help him.

Parker and Chester have been long-time childhood friends since elementary school. It hasn’t been confirmed if they are anything more than friends. Although they sometimes argue during their investigations, they always agree to not make the same mistake twice when trying to resolve a problem. They appear to share a house together.

Men’s enhancement club

The men’s enhancement club is a mentioned/»recurring?» Antagonistic group In Life of Luxury. The only known member of the club is Eugene. The theory Behind the club is that most Male antagonists originate from the club. The main thing that hints Eugene (the known member) to other antagonists is recurring lines like «She/they went on a trip». Another «Excuse» antagonists use for their transformations is being in a car accident.

«Recurring» antagonists

Several antagonist («The Blast») have supposedly appeared several times in other videos. «The Blast» seems to appear at the end of Something horrible happened to her sister. «the blast» seems to be welcoming Gale and her sister into the woods. This «character» also looks very similar to Taylor’s stalker, as their face looks almost identical.

Stanley at night appears to be wearing the clothes of Tommy, or it could also be that Tommy replaces Stanley at night. Also, When Stanley «roars» it once again sounds very reminiscent of the sound Tommy makes at the end of his episode.

Petunia and Margret may very well be the same Entities. In the bathroom, Petunia’s face looks exactly like Margret’s (there is no difference). And not to mention her hair is very similar to Margaret’s roommate Lily, so it is quite possible the three have a connection of some sort.

Parker and Chester leave the cameras behind to spy on their clients

In «We Found a Clown in Her House», it is safe to say that they don’t take their cameras back at the end of their investigation. This could be connected to the reason why they insist on installing cameras, even in cases they don’t believe to be a big deal.

The VCR tape

Stanley appears to be in possession of a VCR tape telling him how to kidnap and turn girls into monsters. Mariah’s roommate appears to be the creator of the video, as he appears in it frequently. A girl (maybe Mariah) is shown inside a small room. She appears to have a stitched up face.

There’s a possible chance that the Girl antagonists are created by the Male antagonists. When Stanley decides to act on the Tape’s advice, He smashes the T.V (implying that he no longer needs it).

DarkPets theory

DarkPets is an animal mutation genetics company, which is why the animals in the Luxurydark videos look and behave rather oddly, in which the Black Fish can breath air and doesn’t have a beak being a notable example, but appears to have a human-like face in the picture. This could also explain why are there are two animals with «Ribbon Worm» at the end of their names in the «Worm» section, suggesting that these two worms are mutations of the actual Ribbon Worm.

Rejuvenation of life

In «He shouldn’t be allowed to have a daughter», a dead body is shown under Chloe’s dad’s bed in the beginning footage. Interestingly, this «Body» looks frighteningly like other antagonists like Gale and the Siamese humans.

In «It crawled out of her closet», also in the beginning footage, A dead body springs to life under a mat, yelling out.

Every modern antagonist like Eugene and Timmy were revealed to have been dead at some point, though this is a huge plot hole.

Chester or Parker are twist antagonists

In «He shouldn’t be allowed to have a daughter», Chloe’s dad drew Chester with a black exposed heart, indicating that Chloe’s dad senses trouble in his intentions (though this could also just mean he planned on taking Chester’s heart for unknown and terrifying reasons).

In «She thought her little brother was dead», and lots of other previous videos, Parker is very condescending towards Chester and the featured characters. He refuses to believe they are in danger, which always results in the characters getting attacked, kidnapped, or killed.

Regardless of gender it appears, Parker always has a crush (to varying extents) on the victims. This even leads to Milly’s death, after Parker found out she had a boyfriend. When Timmy went inside Milly’s room and attacked her, Parker and Chester just left her.

“Luxury Pranks” is the online pseudonym of American “YouTuber” Parker Hajiaskari, who features video pranks, practical jokes, reactions, and video logs on his ‘YouTube’ channel. He first started uploading funny videos back in 2008. However, he could not gain an impressive viewership due to the lack of technical knowledge and suitable equipment. Parker started his channel, ‘LuxuryPranks,’ in 2015, and gained huge popularity. His subscriber count rose to a massive two million, and he managed to garner more than 203 million views. The channel initially featured harmless prankster videos, primarily involving the public. However, Parker’s videos slowly drifted to the genre of reality TV, claiming to expose real-life cases of catfishing, cheating, stalking, and gold-digging. Parker credits his survival and success to the catfishing videos he created. According to him, those videos helped the channel gain its popularity. The channel treaded into dangerous waters with its ‘Catching a Child Predator’ video series. People, including other “YouTubers,” started questioning the veracity of these videos. Parker was questioned by another popular “YouTuber,” Leon Lush, on whether or not the videos were real and what kind of legal repercussions such videos might have. However, there was no real impact on the channel, in terms of its viewership. The channel continues to post “social experiments,” which are widely popular. In March 2018, a Q&A video on the channel showed Parker expressing his doubt about continuing as a content creator despite his immense popularity.

Summary: Parker and Chester buy a new parasite off the Dark Web.

The episode

The episode starts with Parker and Chester going onto an exotic animal site because Chester wants a new pet. Chester begins to beg Parker for a worm, but then notices the parasite option. Chester asks Parker for a Parasite, and Parker tells him, «Dude, people don’t keep Parasites as pets, we don’t want to buy this». Parker ends up clicking on the parasites option. After scrolling through several parasites, Parker gets confused and aggravated on why Chester wants a parasite. Chester tells Parker he wants the Bed worm. After Parker reads the description, he gets mad at Chester because he doesn’t want a potentially dangerous pet that will enter his body. Despite his reluctance, Parker ends up buying the bed worm the end.

After two days, the worm arrives. They open the box to find a large Parasite in a jar. Chester gets upset because he thinks the worm is dead. He begins to open the jar, despite Parker telling him to put gloves on. The parasite bites Chester, which he then starts screaming in pain, Parker takes Chester to the bathroom to rinse the Bite with cold water.

After Parker notices that Chester has been sweating profusely, they both decide to visit Chester’s “doctor”: Mumley after Chester is bitten by the parasite. Parker is confused and questions on the legitimacy of Mumley being a doctor, but Chester insists that he can only see Dr. Mumley because he doesn’t have health insurance. When they Mr. Mumley allows the two to come inside his house, Parker observes the “Office” that Mr. Mumley works in and questions if he can see his medical license to which Dr. Mumley ignores Parker. Chester and Parker in and starts checking to see if there is a parasite inside Chester by putting a tube down Chester’s throat. Dr. Mumley concludes that he should amputate part of his stomach. Horrified, Parker declines Dr. Mumley’s request and he gives two pills to Chester instead, which he claims will kill the parasite and that he must fast for 72 Hours (3 days) after taking them, leaving Parker suspicious, which are later justified when he finds out that the pills are just over-the-counter Advil which he doesn’t believe will help Chester.

During the night Chester becomes worse and Parker notices the parasite escaped. but doesn’t tell Chester. Chester vlogs that he notices a strangely shaped bulge on his stomach that wasn’t there before. Later that night Parker vlogs about hearing a noise and decides to check on Chester and discovers something moving under Chester’s skin while Chester appears to be having a seizure. Parker also finds a large sweat stain on the bed where Chester was lying on. Suddenly, the parasite then slithers into the room, making a strange hissing noise before flying at and attacking Parker, to which the parasite then enters Chester’s body though his waist, causing him to scream in pain. Parker then takes Chester to a legitimate hospital, where they removed several parasites with some being over 3 feet long, the hospital then tells them they’ve never seen those types of parasites before and that they may have been an undiscovered species.

Иногда мне кажется, что дорамы недооценивают фикрайтеры, ведь фанфики по ним не так уж и известны. Но потом я захожу на Книгу Фанфиков, Wattpad, Archive of Our Own… И понимаю, что глубоко ошибалась😃 Оказывается, работ по дорамным фандомам достаточно, чтобы зачитаться ими до самого утра.

Вот это я конечно перескочила, с флаффа на драму. На самом деле читать этот фанфик сложно, хотя бы из-за токсичности происходящего. Если ты действительно любишь хардкор, то тогда попробуй взяться, но с осторожностью.

Любовный треугольник в фанфике нехилый, а дорама после него смотрится как-то совсем мрачно. Но, опять же, если тебе такое нравится, то вперед! Главный герой фанфика — Чан Хан Со, который страдает от собственных чувств и людей, которые ему далеко не безразличны.

The usual spiel: Based on the characters, not the real guys, this isn’t meant to be RPF. Pretty sure the actors are not banging (dude, irl Parker has a kid??) but I’ll write their characters as going at it anyway.

(Also as a displaced Upstate New York native, I’m enjoying writing about a place I know for once rather than researching 90s New Orleans or some shit for once. Maybe I can sneak a garbage plate into one of these fics.)

Work Text:

In all regards, it had been glaringly apparent from the beginning. Even as toddlers, Parker had been the leader of the two. Larger, stronger, louder. Little Parker with his hands on his hips, ordering around little Chester, the towheaded child obeying every command with nary a complaint. Push that truck over there, empty that sand over here, park that Matchbox car under that rock. Any other child would have punched the bossy boy right in his nose, but Chester would just stare up at him with his pale, adoring eyes as if his friend held the sun itself in his palm.

They grew together but not at the same speed. For every inch Chester grew, Parker seemed to add two to his own height, and for a while there until late middle school, a year or two after Parker was seen wearing a shirt, his best friend would be seen wearing the same one. Non-familial hand-me-downs.

The larger boy hit every milestone first, including puberty. Facial hair, pubic hair, muscles, wet dreams. He presented young. Fourteen. Not young in general, but young for an alpha. Besides the timing, nobody was surprised. His secondary gender had been obvious from his earliest days. Presenting early just cemented this fact. Not just any old two-bit alpha but destined to be a high-level example of his kind. A true leader. The type that grows up to be CEOs and entrepreneurs and politicians.

Chester also presented at fourteen. Mere days after Parker and yet this was even less surprising. Despite being younger than his best friend, there is nothing at all unusual about an omega presenting at such a young age. In fact, his family doctor had expected it even earlier.

“He’s ready to go,” Dr. Burns had said, pointing out the readout of his hormone levels as they wavered just below the levels to trigger his first heat. “I’d say any day now but that’s what I said six months ago, isn’t it? It’s possible his body feels it isn’t safe yet and is holding him back. Perhaps it senses a lack of appropriate mating partners. Bring him back in three months. If he hasn’t started by then, we’ll give him some hormone treatments to jumpstart the process. For now, just keep the suppressants on hand, just in case.”

Years later, when discussing why he had presented so late for an omega, he would go red and stutter something about Parker’s hormones repressing his own through pheromones or something, but he knows, deep down, that he was waiting. His body didn’t want to lose his virginity until Parker was ready and available to claim that right, not understanding that this isn’t the stone ages and omegas are rarely ever claimed during their first heat. It had been a subconscious, primal need rather than a deliberate decision on his own part.

When the time did finally come, over a year later, it had gone exactly as Chester had always assumed it would. An overnight camping trip in the middle of the summer, the heat hitting him from nowhere, his best friend there to take care of him and lead him through it. It almost felt like it had been pre-planned. As if Chester had been trying to figure out a way to seduce the other boy. Nobody would have predicted he would go into heat again just two months after his last one.

Omegas have no control over that sort of thing though, their bodies do what they want to do, sometimes.

The odd part is, in most aspects of his life, Chester does not come off as an omega. He is not interested in nesting or discussing children or cooking. He isn’t demure or shy or timid. When not basking in Parker’s presence, he is usually incorrectly identified as a beta as he comes of neither particularly dominant nor submissive. Even his professors had seemed surprised when he would show up with an upcoming heat notice from his doctor mid-semester, requesting material beforehand as he would be unable to attend class with a dick up his ass. Only when Parker is around, which is, admittedly, the majority of the time, does his true nature make itself known.

Chester is an omega through and through but utterly devoted, mind, body, and soul, to one alpha and only one alpha. And he has been since they first curled up together for naps on their preschool floor.

“Do you think you are born predestined with your secondary gender, or do you think it’s something that develops as you grow up?” Chester asks one day as he stares at his best friend, watching the sun glistening on his skin. They’re both oily with sunscreen and Parker’s father will probably complain later, he always complains about them clogging up the pool filter with the stuff, but the alpha says it’s better to deal with his father’s bitching today than cancer tomorrow and is always careful to help Chester cover the places on his back that he can’t reach on his own. You’re so white bro, I don’t know how I don’t lose you in the snow.

“I don’t know, dude,” Parker replies calmly. His eyes are still closed, lids visible behind the orange tint of his expensive sunglasses, and the low, warm wind from the side ruffles his swim-mussed hair, sweeping his bangs half over his forehead. “They say it seems to be somewhat genetic, don’t they? Or at least alpha males tend to produce alpha males and alpha females produce alpha females. I’ve never read the studies on omegas, but I think it’s similar.”

“But my parents are both betas,” Chester reminds him. Unable to help himself, he shifts his arm from the seat’s rest and allows the tips of his fingers to lightly brush Parker’s. The other man moves his own fingers, touching Chester’s and even grabbing at a couple of them, curling his longer ones around the blond’s. “Do you think I’m supposed to be a beta?”

“You’re not a beta,” Parker says simply, releasing his hold on Chester’s hand. Chester pulls his hand away, setting it back on the rest. Opening his eyes, Parker sits up, half-turning his body to reach for his melting pina colada, an alcoholic dessert in a glass whipped up by his mother when the two of them showed up this afternoon with towels and swim trunks in hand. “You’re an omega, so why even ask that? We could debate nature versus nurture until the cows come home.”

Chester can’t help but note he didn’t say “my omega.” As if he were just any old omega he walked by on the street. Turning his head, he watches the surface of the water ripple beneath a warm breeze. He knows he is Parker’s omega, and Parker knows that too. But being an alpha’s omega isn’t the same as being their boyfriend. Parker is all but required to watch over him, but that doesn’t mean he’s required to return his feelings.

Chester would prefer to be his boyfriend than his responsibility.

“I don’t feel like an omega,” he admits quietly. “I don’t think I’m a very good one, sometimes. And I think the fact that doesn’t even bother me just further proves that point.”

“I haven’t touched those books since we slept over last Christmas,” Chester promises with a little snort. It’s not as if he really likes the books, anyway. They’re just right by the toilet and it’s an old habit leftover from childhood. Back when the choices were either trashy romance novels or the back of a shampoo bottle. “I was just thinking about what happened at the hospital.”

“Oh, that,” Parker scoffs. He reaches up and runs his fingers through his hair. It’s standing up all over the place, damp and frizzy from their last swim, and looks ridiculously good on him. “It’s fine. You just had to show them your ID and they let me right in.”

“But what if I hadn’t had the ID?” Chester counters, still dwelling on the incident. Barely able to breathe from bronchitis-induced pneumonia and unable to have his best friend, his comforter, his protector at his side. Reassuring him. Helping him breathe as panic set in over his low oxygen levels. He swallows thickly. “What if we forgot my phone at the house?”

“I have a copy of your ID on my phone,” Parker reminds him. Rationally, totally rationally. And Chester hates how irrational he sounds in comparison because he is not an irrational person. He really isn’t. In fact, he’s often much more level-headed than his best friend whose head is often up in the clouds, chasing his dreams. Needing grounding from somebody closer to the earth than himself. But about the only thing that can truly get to Chester is the idea of being separated from Parker when he needs him the most and that had almost come true.

“You know what I mean!” Chester continues to argue, fighting back against Parker’s reasonability even though he knows what he said makes sense. He’s not done venting. “If I had been a pretty little omega like all the others, I wouldn’t have had to prove that I needed my alpha there with me during it.”

“Dude, does it really bother you that much?”

“Yes,” Chester gets out before he has time to even think about it. This response is followed immediately after with a “no” and then a “maybe.”

“Well, which is it?”

“I don’t know. I guess I don’t really care,” Chester admits, reaching under his sunglasses to rub at the sweat pooling under his eyes. It really is hot here, the summer humidity oppressive. But his face is going red from more than the sun. This entire situation is embarrassing. He isn’t some damsel in distress, and he shouldn’t be this upset just because he almost didn’t have his alpha next to him at the doctor’s office. “I don’t have anybody to impress besides you and you’ve known me too long to start complaining about me now.”

“I have,” Parker agrees with a laugh. Big smile, white teeth. He really is the type of guy who could end up president someday if everything goes right. “God, the sun is baking today. I wish you didn’t have that class at two, we could have gone to the lake this afternoon. You ready to jump back in yet?”

“In a minute, bro, we’re not done talking,” Chester admonishes him lightly. He’s not going to let himself be distracted by his stupidly perfect smile. “Listen, all I’m saying is, I don’t know. I think it’s nice, that we fit together so well sometimes. Because you wouldn’t have been allowed back with me if I had been a beta, right?”

“Right,” Parker agrees, but it comes off somewhat as an open-ended question, waiting for Chester to finish whatever this strange train of thought may be. His hands are hovering near the ends of the lounger, arms just barely tensed in preparation to pull himself to his feet. Chester hurries to go on.

“And I think, I dunno. Maybe I decided I wanted to make sure we always fit together right, and maybe my body followed this decision. Rather than the vice versa,” Chester stumbles to explain what he means but his mind never seems to quite translate correctly to his lips. The heat isn’t helping. “Everybody always talks about how lucky they are to have met that perfect person who complements them so completely. But maybe it wasn’t luck for us. Maybe it was something else.”

“Alright,” Parker consents, going along with this theory out of curiosity, as well as out of wish to avoid further argument. “Let’s say that’s true. How does that make you feel? Does it make you feel worse that this wasn’t all fate or destiny or whatever the kids are calling it these days?”

Chester pauses for a moment, thinking over the question. Then he shrugs, feeling the tell-tale signs of a sunburn already starting to seep through the skin thin of his bony shoulders.

“I think I prefer knowing I had some say in my own life.”

“Then stop mulling over all this junk,” the alpha says, finally climbing to his feet. He tosses a loose towel over Chester’s head. It smells like sunscreen and Parker. Not his cologne or his shampoo or his toothpaste. Just Parker. “I’m going back in. You can join me, or you can sit up here sweating your balls off, your call.”

Back in ye olde tymes, it had been the accepted norm for omegas to travel from household to household. Generally speaking, a male omega usually was afforded more privileges than a female one, visiting a local pub alone would have been considered a tantalizing if slightly scandalous venture for one, yet building, owning, their own home?

Well, why should they do such a thing? When they could merely wait for an alpha to come along and sweep them off their feet?

Things are better these days. For about everybody except male alphas, anyway, who have always been used to being at the top. And Chester is thankful for this, for having been born in the twentieth century instead of the fifteenth. There was no exchange of money and goods like Chester was a piece of merchandise when he became an adult. He moved from his childhood home to his dorm room where he spent the first two years living in the omega dorms, as per school policy. Enjoying his freedom and missing home cooking and the whirlpool bathtub downstairs. Even missing Parker just a little bit even though he was just two buildings down the street in the one and only alpha dorm on campus.

They had been so used to attending every class together, eating lunch together, high school had been easier because it didn’t matter what you wanted to be when you grew up, most of the classes were the same. They all had to take the same Regents and receive the same diploma.

Then college came along, and they were swept into two different directions and barely ever saw each other during the day. If they averaged two classes together per semester, that was considered a good semester, and Chester knew it would only get worse as they wrapped up their core classes and began to concentrate on their majors in earnest.

So he was happy when they marched into the Administration building together in late spring of their sophomore year and signed the paperwork needed to release Chester from the dorms the following year.

It’s rather archaic, to be perfectly honest. One would think the SUNY system would be more progressive than that. But the school policy on omega housing hasn’t been updated since its founding in the 1800s. If an omega chooses to leave the dorms after the first two years to live anywhere besides with their own parents, procedure must be followed.

“At least we’re both students,” Parker consoles later that evening. “It would have been a bigger headache if I went to Canisius or something.”

“Yeah, I guess,” Chester agrees, still feeling a little down. Things like this always seem to pop up just when everything seems to be going right. Always a constant reminder that everything will be just a little more difficult in his life than it should just because of who he is.

They move in together immediately once the semester wraps up, loading their belongings into the back of Parker’s car and hauling everything mere blocks away in only a few trips. The apartment is small but even it looks empty with their meager handful of dorm room supplies scattered throughout the rooms. The bathroom is the only room that looks presentable once everything has been put where it belongs, maybe even a little overcrowded with doubles of everything crowing up the little counter space available.

“Dad said he’d let us have the sofa set in the loungeroom,” Parker mentions as they survey the bare walls of their new living room. “The black leather one. Mom’s been bugging him to replace it anyway.”

“Dude, we don’t have room for a couch and a loveseat in this place,” Chester points out, waving an arm out to gestures at the empty space before them. It seems bigger than it is due to its emptiness but it’s pretty small compared to the average American living room. “Not unless you want to feel like you’re living in a Barbie house.”

“I’ll put the loveseat in my bedroom,” Parker tells him with a shrug. “Mom doesn’t want us breaking up the set. My room is pretty big, I think it’ll fit.”

Despite the smallness of the living room, his bedroom is a good size. Larger than the living room and probably about twice the size of Chester’s own bedroom. Probably made for a parent and child situation when the apartment had first been build in the 50s. Chester honestly doesn’t mind that his room is so much smaller than Parker’s, it’s still larger than the room in the dorm had been and he had been forced to share that one. Even if he wanted to complain, what right does he have? He’s not even helping with the rent.

“I promise, I’ll find a job this summer,” Chester says, holding up his pinkie as he swears. “Then I’ll totally pull my weight around here. I’m not just going to mooch off you, dude.”

His best friend looks at the offered finger, cocks an eyebrow, and laughs.

“We might not be rich, but if it ever got that bad, you know my dad would be there for us,” Parker says, grabbing at the hand and wrapping his fingers around it, pressing the pinkie back into his fist. Not releasing said fist, he uses it to pull Chester close to him, blessing him with a quick but rare kiss on the mouth. It sends shivers up Chester’s spine and leaves him craving more. Parker lets go of his hand and he takes a step back.

“Are you going to tell me where you’re even getting the money to pay for this place?” Chester asks, still recovering from the kiss. They haven’t kissed since his last heat. “You keep talking about this mysterious night job but you won’t ever tell me what it is you actually do.”

“It’s on a need-to-know basis,” Parker replies, the smile fading from his face. Abruptly, he walks away from the omega, heading towards the kitchen. “I’ll tell you when you need to know.”

A need-to-know basis. Best friend, roommate, omega, sometime-lover, and he’s still not important enough to Parker to need to know where he disappears to at night. Chester supposes that’s the difference between an alpha and omega that share a bedroom and an alpha and an omega that each have their own.

А в чем тренд?

Фанфикшн — жаргонизм, обозначающий продукт любительского творчества (рассказ, рисунок, арт, видео) по мотивам популярных оригинальных литературных произведений, фильмов, мультипликации, комиксов, компьютерных игр. Термин закрепился в обиходе примерно в 1956 году, однако явление существовало и задолго до этого. Увлечение фанфикшн объединяет огромное количество людей по всему миру. Некоторые русскоязычные сайты, аккумулирующие фанатское творчество, существуют уже около 20 лет, а один из самых популярных — Ficbook включает более 25 тыс. фэндомов (сообществ фанатов каких-либо произведений).

Гарри Поттер стал ученым, сестры Беннет из романа «Гордость и предубеждение» Джейн Остин борются с зомби, Илья Обломов практикует онлайн-дейтинг. Дерзкая и забавная игра, нежелание расставаться с любимыми героями, попытка исправить «ошибки» классиков и переписать «плохие» финалы — все это фанфикшн: читательские и зрительские фантазии на темы литературной и киноклассики. С одной стороны, творчество фанатов опирается на культурные образцы. С другой — борется с ними и предлагает собственные ориентиры. В любом случае, высокое искусство уже не может не замечать фанатские практики — и как собственное отражение в зеркале, и как пространство новых возможностей.

Переписать Толстоевского

Фанатские произведения, будь то фанфики, фан-видео или фан-арт, свидетельствуют о сложном комплексе чувств к литературной и киноклассике. Lovehate, любовь-ненависть — так можно обозначить это отношение к культурным канонам. Что угодно, только не равнодушие. В магнетических мирах, созданных в произведениях Пушкина, Толстого, Тургенева, Достоевского, Конан Дойла, Толкина и других богов литературного пантеона, все же хочется что-то переделать. Например, не дать умереть Андрею Болконскому, подружить Онегина и Печорина, научить Базарова вести детективные расследования, познакомить Раскольникова с Холденом Колфилдом из романа «Над пропастью во ржи».

В фанфикшн, по словам культуролога Натальи Самутиной, уникальная конфигурация художественного мира выстраивается «из заимствованных и самостоятельных фрагментов, крупных и мелких кластеров общепринятой и новой информации». Авторы фанфиков, что называется, «типичные представители» дженкинсовской «культуры соучастия». Они воспринимают себя как сотворцов произведений.

Смелые ходы в фанатских текстах говорят о влюбленности и — одновременно — отторжении от «сакральных» образцов. Фанфикшн произрастает на почве классики, но при этом приносит диковинные плоды, порой с шокирующим вкусом. Любопытно, что в этом странном саду нередко блуждают и профессионалы — именитые писатели и режиссеры. Фанатские чудеса могут давать им вдохновение и направлять.

Культуролог, доцент Института образования НИУ ВШЭ Ксения Романенко отмечает парадоксальное устройство фанфикшна: «Он зиждется на специфичном каноне — коллективно отобранных кино- и литературных текстах, — движется поклонением, эмоциональной привязанностью и вниманием, при этом изначально работает как борьба с каноном, критика канонов и изменение канонов».

Фанфикшн в системе культурных иерархий

Слово «канон» в исследовании Ксении Романенко понимается как в «высоком», исследовательском смысле, так и в фанатском, сленговом. Общий знаменатель здесь — «кодекс» определенных правил, который полагается соблюдать.

Основанные на сюжетах других произведений, фанфики, фан-арт и фанвидео невольно посягают на законы об авторском праве. В связи с этим появилась практика «дисклеймеров» — предупреждений о некоммерческом характере фанфикшна. Впоследствии «дисклеймеры» органически встроились в фанатские тексты: они включают в себя описание сюжета, историю создания и мнение фикрайтера, а также предупреждают о «триггерах» — потенциально шокирующих моментах в тексте.

Поскольку фанатское творчество — некоммерческое, оно выбивается из массовой культуры с ее фокусом на рейтингах и прибыли. Однако у фанфикшна есть собственные индексы популярности, например, внутренние конкурсы. А в ряде случаев — и собственные способы коммерциализации, например, через продажу сувениров и выпуск фанфиков «по требованию» (print on demand) с помощью средств, собранных на краудфандинговых платформах.

Впрочем, в кейсах, когда сходятся популярность и отсутствие ответственности в связи с авторским правом, фанатские практики могут вырастать в развитые индустрии развлечений. Так, в другом исследовании Романенко показано, как успех романов Джейн Остин в 1990–2000 годы привел к появлению туристических маршрутов, исторических балов, выпуску тематических предметов интерьера и написанию сиквелов. Причем эти произведения «остиноманов» массово продаются и экранизируются.

Что касается высокой литературы, то она противостоит фанфикшну своей профессиональностью, эстетическими установками и, в терминах французского социолога Пьера Бурдье, монополией на литературную легитимность. Чтобы «войти» в культуру фанфикшна, специальное образование не нужно. А литературные объединения, премии и фестивали заменяются регистрацией на фанатских сайтах, соблюдением фандомных конвенций, организацией фанатских встреч и бескорыстной помощью в редактировании. Появляются и «самиздатовские» статьи с советами для начинающих фикрайтеров.

Пересборка миров

Фанфикшн трансформирует отношение к культурному канону и с помощью восприятия литературных миров не как текстов, а как «космологий для вхождения». Поклонники относятся к героям кино и литературы как к живым. По словам Генри Дженкинса, фанаты «входят в царство вымысла, как если бы это было осязаемое место, в котором они могут жить».

Фикрайтеры могут «высвечивать» отдельных, незаслуженно обойденных героев. Так, в ходе исследовательского интервью одна из авторов фанфиков заметила: «У главного треугольника Пьер / Наташа / Андрей очень много времени в „Войне и мире“. А моим любимым княжне Марье с Николаем Ростовым досталось только полтора тома, и то на фоне 1812 года, когда всем не до них». По сути фикрайтер пыталась «реконструировать» ту линию событий, которой «не успел» уделить время Лев Толстой.

Количественное исследование корпуса фанфиков показало, что в них наблюдается и деприоритизация главных героев (в центр помещают других персонажей), и значительный перевес женских персонажей по сравнению с каноном (часто фанфики пишут женщины). Исследователь Дерек Джонсон отмечает феномен «фантагонизма» (от «фанатство» плюс «антагонизм»): конфликты внутри фандомов, желание фикрайтеров поправить авторов, ненависть к одним героям и стремление реабилитировать других.

Так, можно дать слово волшебнице Цирцее из «Одиссеи» (так поступила специалист по античной литературе Мадлен Миллер). А можно сосредоточиться на Элен Безуховой, антигероине Толстого. Можно женить Айвенго на Ревекке, как сделал с героями Вальтера Скотта другой классик, Уильям Теккерей, еще в 1849 году.

«Браконьерство» и «осквернение»

На сайтах фанфикшна есть и рефлексия над внутренними жанрами, и перепубликация исследований фан-арта, и руководства по созданию фанфиков. Одно из таких эссе советует, как «посылать» канон.

Канон сильно ограничивает преобразования текста-исходника. В то же время, без канона нет фанфикшна. О создателях фанатских текстов нередко «судят по тому, насколько хорошо они придерживаются канона или отходят от него». Не случайно Дженкинс описывал фанфикшн и фикрайтеров одновременно и как «культуру соучастия», и как «браконьерство» (textual poachers).

Одна из участниц исследовательского интервью заявила: «Слова о том, что своим творчеством я оскверняю классику, лишь больше меня подстегнули». Отчасти это «протестная» мотивация, вызов. Но и это понятно: у многих — сложные отношения со школьным каноном.

В фанфикшне есть свои внутренние классификации: некоторые жанры копируются у кино и литературы (драма, приключения, детектив и пр.), некоторые — изобретаются. Например, «флафф» (англ. fluff — пушок) о приятных событиях или «ангст» (англ. angst — тревога, страх) о страданиях персонажей.

Существенная часть «местных» жанров связана со способами трансформации изначального произведения. Среди них — «пропущенная сцена», «фиксит» (англ. fix-it — исправить), фанатское исправление логической нестыковки или сюжетной неясности в каноне. Есть жанр «OOC» (англ. out of character — что-либо нетипичное для данного персонажа) — герой сильно меняется по сравнению с каноническим образом. Есть AU (англ. alternative universe) — «альтернативная вселенная». Исследовательница фанфиков Шина Пью замечает, что вышеназванные жанры отвечают на два вопроса: «Что если?» и «А что еще?».

Иные вселенные

AU-фанфиками могут считаться и истории, которые содержат неожиданные повороты сюжета (персонаж, вопреки канону, не умирает, и это старт для новой вселенной), и эпизоды, которые переносят героев в другой контекст. Один из ярких примеров AU-фанфикшна — довольно популярный роман «Гарри Поттер и методы рационального мышления» американского эксперта по искусственному интеллекту Элиезера Юдковского. Расхождение с сюжетом Роулинг заложено еще в предыстории. Тетушка Гарри Петуния Эванс выходит замуж за университетского профессора, Гарри растет в интеллектуальной среде, а магию оценивает с позиций научного познания.

В фанатских историях воображаемые миры становятся более полифоничными. Фикрайтеры обращаются не только к конкретной книге или сериалу, но и к иллюстрациям, адаптациям, черновикам, биографиям и высказываниям писателей, режиссеров и актеров в СМИ.

Обсуждая твиты Джоан Роулинг или сравнивая биографии Пушкина и Гоголя, «фанаты расширяют границы канона для собственных историй», отмечает Ксения Романенко. К тому же благодаря фанатам каноны изучаются детальнее.

В сериале «Убийства в одном здании» (2021) обыгрывается это свойство фанфикшна, когда фанаты помогают раскрыть дело авторам своего любимого детективного подкаста, поскольку пристально следят за деталями. Генри Дженкинс трактует это свойство фанатов в терминах коллективного разума — с его помощью фан-сообщество выясняет для себя нюансы канона.

Вечное возвращение к классике

В дотошном знании канонических произведений прочитывается желание фанатов возвращаться к знакомым мирам, получая от них все больше. Это напоминает практики просмотра культового кино, где культовое кино — это «стратегия зрительского восприятия», а не свойство самих фильмов.

Иногда специфика произведений, вынесенных фанатами в канон, усиливает это желание уютной повторяемости. Кроссоверы по русской классике, объединяющие «Героя нашего времени», «Евгения Онегина» и «Войну и мир» в воображаемый холистический мир XIX века, или сиквелы к роману «Гордость и предубеждение», в которых бесконечно фигурируют балы и свидания, но отсутствует присущая Остин социальная сатира, предлагают исключительно комфортное, терапевтическое «общение» с воображаемыми мирами.

В целом фанфики по русской классике, авторы которых описывают свой опыт через категории ответственности и вины, несут в себе больше, чем фанфикшн на другом материале. Особая ответственность выражается в фактчекинге исторических деталей, имитации «старинного» языка, а иногда и авторских приемов, типа онегинской строфы. Обычно повествование в фанфиках эротизировано, но авторы работ по русской классике себя явно сдерживают (из уважения к оригиналу).

Чувство вины у фикрайтеров проявляется, когда они сравнивают свои повести и романы с актами уничтожения «культурного наследия», литературного канона. Но в то же время канон постоянно прокручивается. Через это прокручивание появляется и фанон.

Фанатский «кодекс»

Фанон — вся совокупность типичных сюжетов фанфиков, популярных фанатских историй, внутренних правил и типов преобразования оригинала. Типичный фанон показан в третьем сезоне сериала «Шерлок», когда поклонники гениального сыщика строят версии о трагических событиях серии «Рейхенбахский водопад». Они, по сути, и работают в жанре «фиксит» (объясняют исчезновение Холмса), и создают альтернативные вселенные.

Чересчур шаблонные решения, разумеется, периодически высмеиваются. Так, частые фанфики о внезапно похорошевших героинях дали начало мему «Гермиона сильно изменилась за лето». И все же фанон сохраняет устойчивость. Каждый новый фанфик отсылает ко всем предшествующим фанатским текстам и дискуссиям. Часто фикрайтер прямо выстраивает свой рассказ в соотнесении с коллективным фаноном. В этом смысле фанфикшн — еще и линза для восприятия канона и «настройки» фанона.

Оригинальные миры

Каждый фанфик должен демонстрировать что-то новое и одновременно соотноситься и с исходным каноном, и с фаноном. Этот баланс оригинальности и повторяемости фанона заметен в таком жанре фанфикшна, как «ориджинал» (англ. original). Подобные тексты предлагают собственные воображаемые вселенные. Таков, например, роман «Лето в пионерском галстуке» Елены Малисовой и Катерины Сильвановой о любви двух подростков. Роман, сначала выложенный на сайте Ficbook.net, был в 2021 году опубликован издательством Popcorn Books. Однако и в «ориджиналах» соблюдаются конвенции фанона — жанры, типичные сюжетные ходы, эмоции.

Баланс новизны и традиционности фанфиков во многом достигается благодаря комбинации коллективного и индивидуального. Фанатское восприятие всегда формируется за счет вклада других фанатов и мотивируется желанием дальнейшего взаимодействия с более широким культурным сообществом.

Какова механика трансформации правил? Есть единый канон, выбранный фанатами. Его преобразует фанон — через серию хэдканонов (индивидуальных решений) и посредством множества реакций коллектива авторов–читателей. Кстати, эта коллективность нужна не только для коммуникации, но и для удовлетворения максимума читательских запросов.

Зеркало новой культурной матрицы

Равноправием альтернативных версий одного и того же сюжета фанфикшн напоминает мифологию. Возможна и ассоциация с академическими текстами. В них тоже сбалансировано уже известное и новое (есть теоретическая рамка и цитаты, но присутствует и научная новизна — свежие результаты).

Важно, что такие способы обращения с культурными продуктами, как фанфикшн, постепенно оказываются повсеместными. Практики, которые ранее считались «предметом локального интереса фанатов» (включение медиатекстов в нарративы о личной идентичности, творческое переписывание текстов), становятся все более распространенными.

Массовая культура сознательно включает в себя трансмедийные продукты и истории со множественными концовками или активной ролью зрителей в развитии сюжета.

Так, во франшизах Marvel или «Звездных войнах» стирается разница между канонным и фанонным. Авторы последних сезонов «Доктора Кто» признаются, что в детстве были поклонниками сериала и теперь могут воплотить свои фантазии в жизнь. Так произведение становится фанфиком на самого себя.

Очевидно, что, с одной стороны, фанфикшн рифмуется с уже существующими культурными феноменами — от сиквелов и приквелов (предысторий) популярных фильмов до жанра литературной пародии. С другой стороны, фанфикшн с его движением от индивидуального к коллективному, от подчиненного воле автора-творца — к управляемому авторами-и-аудиторией «становится самым ясным зеркалом для пересоздаваемого культурного канона», резюмирует Ксения Романенко.
