История создания и состав

Группа Bee Gees была создана в Австралии в 1958 году тремя братьями Гибб.

Старший Барри и близнецы Морис и Робин родились в городе Дуглас на острове Мэн. Их отец Хьюи Гибб был барабанщиком и лидером джазового биг-бенда.

Братья Гибб в детстве не смели и мечтать, что войдут в пантеон величайших поп-звезд ХХ века.

Творческая биография коллектива началась в 1955 году в Чарлтон-кум-Харди в Англии. Братья Гибб организовали группу Rattlesnakes, которая состояла из Барри (гитара-вокал), Робина и Мориса (вокал) и их друзей Паула Фроста (барабаны) и Кенни Хоррокса (бас). В 1957-м они собирались выступить под фонограмму в местном кинотеатре, но перед концертом обнаружилось, что аппаратура сломалась, и молодым музыкантам пришлось петь вживую. Они понравились публике и решили продолжить музыкальную карьеру.

В мае 1958 года Фрост и Хоррокс покинули коллектив, и Rattlesnakes распалась. Братья Гибб собрали новую группу Johnny Hayes and the Blue Cats.

В августе 1958-го семья Гибб переехала в Австралию и поселилась в Брисбене, где начался новый этап истории создания группы. Братья посещали государственную школу Нортгейт, а в свободное время зарабатывали музыкой на карманные расходы.

Вскоре Барри, Мориса и Робина представили диджею местной радиостанции Биллу Гейтсу и организатору гонок Биллу Вуду. Последний нанял молодых музыкантов для развлечения публики на автодроме во время соревнований «Redcliffe Speedway» в 1960 году.
