Game Dev Story. My story.
I remembered playing this game back in elementary school. so I typed it in the App Store. I bought the game at around 10 o’clock in the morning & played. I kept playing, and playing until I saw I was in year 20. I had my phone on the charger so I wouldn’t lose my progress in case my phone died. I looked at the time on my phone and saw it was 8 o’clock at night. At that moment came to a realization that I’ve been playing Game Dev Story for 10 hours. This game is well worth the little price that they charge, believe me. It was even difficult to write this review because I missed about 5 minutes of Game Dev time to write this. Buy the game.

Just Amazing
I remember playing this game back when it was first released and loving every second of it. I decided to re download it again, and I can confidently say that it still has every bit of magic now as it did back when it first came out. Kariosoft has really captured lightning in a bottle with this game. The best part for me was being able to name all of my games; it just made the whole game come alive Play it. You won’t regret it.

Сиквелы [ ]
К играм, попавшим в Зал Славы, можно делать сиквелы (игра попадает в Зал Славы если ее оценка критиками 32 или выше). Чтобы создать сиквел, зайдите на экран Sequel и выберите платформу (не обязательно разрабатывать сиквел на той же платформе, что и оригинал), игру, для которой вы желаете создат сиквели метод разработки. С этого момента игра будет разрабатываться как обычная игра. Преимущество создания сиквелов состоит в том, что их разработка начинается с некоторого стартового уровня Веселья, Креативности, Графики и Звука. Если сиквел не попадет в Зал Славы, больше нельзя будет делать сиквелы в этой серии.
Контракты [ ]
Помимо создания игр вы можете выполнять задания других компаний. Рекомендуется выполнять задания, чтобы заработать денег и очков исследований на начальных стадиях игры. Контракты доступны из того же меню, что и создание новых проектов и доступны с самого начала игры. В середине и в конце игры прибыль от контрактов слишком низка, чтобы их выполнять.

Существует легкий способ зарабатывать много исследовательских данных в конце игры. Если у вас достаточно быстрая команда, можно постоянно выполнять контракты, у которых очень высокие требования. По завершении контракта вам дадут много исследовательских данных, имея команду, способную очень быстро выполнять контракты (за пару недель), можно быстро набрать много данных.
Улучшение офиса [ ]
После каждого улучшения вы разблокируете новые методы тренировки, рекламы и поиска работников, а также 2 дополнительных сидения.
События [ ]
Различные игровые события влияют на популярность компании и другие факторы.
Письма [ ]
Письмо может быть как хорошим событием, так и плохим. Если у опубликованной игры хорошая оценка, фанат напишет письмо с впечатлением от игры, в результате увеличится популярность компании и игры (в основном среди лиц того же возраста и пола, что и написавший).
Популярность игры может снизиться, если другая компания выпускает похожую игру, а также если фанаты стареют.

Если у компании недостаточно средств, компания может однократно воспользоваться страховым фондом в размере 150K. Если 150K недостаточно или если компания снова не может расплатиться, проекты могут быть отменены.

Окончание игры [ ]
Когда вы достигаете 21-го года игры, игра «заканчивается» и подсчитывется счет. Несмотря на то, что игра «заканчивается», можно продолжать играть сколько угодно, но итоговый счет не увеличится. Также разблокируется возможность ускорить игру (Menu > System > Settings > Speed > Fast). Когда игра закончена, можно начать новую, некоторые преимущества будут перенесены из текущей игры. Преимущества нельзя улучшить после «окончания» игры. При многократном переносе все преимущества сохраняются и складываются.

Game Dev Story was Kairosoft’s first mobile game. In it, you run a game company and create games with the attributes Fun, Creativity, Graphics, and Sound. Many other factors also impact how popular a game is, how well it sells, how large your fan base is, and whether your game can have a sequel.
While your primary goal is to make great games, there are many aspects to work on to make this possible, such as training staff, building a console, and unlocking new genres and types.
Office Upgrades [ ]
After every upgrade, you unlock new methods of training, Advertizing, and hiring methods, as well as 2 more seats.
Development [ ]
Making a Game [ ]
Games are what make you money and let the game progress. There are many factors in how popular it will be, such as consoles, employees, and luck. If a game is really good it could potentially have a sequel.
Sequels [ ]
Games that enter the Hall of Fame are eligible for sequels (a game enters the Hall of Fame when its total critic score is 32 or higher). To make a sequel, enter the Sequel screen and choose the Platform (a sequel does not have to be developed on the same platform as the original), the game you wish to create a sequel of, and the development method. At that point, the sequel will be made in the same way as any other game. The advantage of making sequels is that they start out with extra levels in Fun, Originality, Graphics, and Sound. However, if a sequel does not make the Hall of Fame on its own, no more sequels can be made in that franchise.
Contracts [ ]
In addition to making games, your company can also fulfill contracts for others. Contracts are available from the same menu through which you make new projects and are available from the start of the game. Contracts are useful in the beginning phases of the game as a relatively easy way to generate money and develop research points. During the mid- and end-game, contracts generally do not pay enough to be worth the effort.
While the particular story behind each contract is different (translate a game into a new language, develop a new game engine, complete special effects for a movie, and so forth), the mechanics of each contract are identical. All contracts include:
More difficult contracts will pay more, but will require the production of higher levels in each category over shorter periods of time. Failure to fulfill a contract involves loss of the fee and a loss of reputation for your company.
Consoles [ ]
Staff [ ]
There are many employees you can choose from, some that need to be unlocked, some only obtainable from different Hiring Methods, and each with a pun in their name. All employees have different careers inside the company.
Training Methods [ ]
There are many training methods that your employees can use, with more and more being unlocked as you progress through the game. The training methods do stop having effect after a while, so keep this in mind.
Pinball never stops working (6 to each stat), but it fails to do anything most of the time (3/4).
Items [ ]
Items are obtained from Pumpkin Products, who appears every M5 W2 (first time on Year 2). Prices of all items go up as you upgrade to a new office. For every item you buy, the cost of the others goes up (this is not true for Dead Bull or Career Change Manual).
Moving Seats [ ]
Switching your employee’s seating arrangements is primarily for aesthetic or entertainment purposes. However, you can gain a small performance increase by putting employees with smaller Power bars closer to the door so that it will take them less time to walk between their chair and door when they leave for home.
Advertising [ ]
Advertising will increase your number of fans and the Hype for any game currently in development. More expensive ads will increase fans and hype by larger amounts. If you use the same type of advertisement too often, however, it ceases to have any impact on the number of fans. Also, post-game launch advertising will increase sales.

Research Data [ ]
Research Data points are gained by employees while both doing work and sitting idle. You are also granted research points upon completion of a contract, with the amount varying by the difficulty of the contract. Research Data is very important and can be used for leveling up employees (up to level 5, with progressively more points being used every time) and performing Boosts. Using a Boost item requires differing amounts of data depending on how many Boosts have been used. Boosts requested by an employee, however, allow you to use more Research Data in order to increase the change up success (up to 80%). The amount of data needed for certain percentages of success depends on the employee’s skills (more skills need less research points).
An easy method to quickly gain Research Data points later on in the game once you have a very fast team is to continually complete contracts that have high point requirements. You are granted a bulk of Research Data points upon completing the contract, and because you should be able to complete even the most complex contracts quickly (within a couple of weeks), this is a very effective way to gain masses of Research Data.
Events [ ]
Letters can be both good or bad events. If a game that was published had a positive score a person will send a letter in increase the popularity in the age group and gender according to the top of the letter.
The opposite effect will occur in a decrease in popularity among the age group and gender
Staff are paid annually at the start of March. At that point, the combined salaries of all staff members will be deducted from the company’s funds. The one exception is at the end of the first year; all salaries for the first year are covered by the «government» in an effort to encourage game development.
He appears annually on M5 W2 to sell you items starting the 2nd year.
These include such things as magazine reviews.
Global Game Awards
The Global Game Awards is an annual show in Game Dev Story every December. Your company first enters the Global Game Awards when a game has got into the Hall of Fame, or a total review score of 32 or more. After that, even if no other game produced has a review score of 32 or over, your company’s games will still be entered to the Global Game Awards to compete against those of rival companies.
To have a chance of getting Game of the Year Award, a game must have a total review score of 36 or more. Even a review of 40 does not ensure winning this award.
Gamedex is an annual show in Game Dev Story that allows your company to gain popularity through different fan bases or a game to gain hype for a current game either in development or released. The event is at the start of every July (M7 W1). The first Gamedex appears after you upgrade your office for the first time. Having a booth a game Dex can increase the popularity of your game company.
Gamedex is probably parodying the Electronics Entertainment Expo or E3 as the expo also happens every July.

Game Dev Story. My story.
I remembered playing this game back in elementary school. so I typed it in the App Store. I bought the game at around 10 o’clock in the morning & played. I kept playing, and playing until I saw I was in year 20. I had my phone on the charger so I wouldn’t lose my progress in case my phone died. I looked at the time on my phone and saw it was 8 o’clock at night. At that moment came to a realization that I’ve been playing Game Dev Story for 10 hours. This game is well worth the little price that they charge, believe me. It was even difficult to write this review because I missed about 5 minutes of Game Dev time to write this. Buy the game.
Needs More Micromanagement!
Just Amazing
I remember playing this game back when it was first released and loving every second of it. I decided to re download it again, and I can confidently say that it still has every bit of magic now as it did back when it first came out. Kariosoft has really captured lightning in a bottle with this game. The best part for me was being able to name all of my games; it just made the whole game come alive Play it. You won’t regret it.
Very Addicting
This game is great! There are a lot of combinations for game customization and it’s a good challenge.
The only improvements I’d make are scaling up the award prizes to how far along you are. The grand prize was great to win after so long but the prize money was negligible. Also, they could scale up the games of the week rankings. After a certain point you just win #1 game every time which is kind of boring. Also, they could change up the popular games every so often so the most popular choices don’t get stale.
The one that started it all
I purchased this game when it first came out and after having played the demo. It does not disappoint at all. Perfect pocket sized sim and especially if you’re a fan of simulation with cute graphics and actual depth to the gameplay. Kairosoft are the masters of the phone simulation/tycoon game and that reputation is for good reason. Any time a game is available on the App Store i buy it immediately and Game Dev Story is in my top 3 favorite Kairosoft games.
Amazing Game!
This game is Awesome. It’s well worth the five dollars. If you looking for a heavy narrative driven game, this probably isn’t what you’re looking for, but a fun game overall.
This game is a sort of sim rpg where you choose game elements and design a game. However, it requires no coding skills, as the games are all “made” by the computers. It has fun dialogue and lots of spoof names for real world games, consoles, and companies. You won’t hear anything but the best about this game from me!
Best game I’ve ever played
Has to be the best game I’ve ever played. Nothing can probably beat this game. I remember in high school years ago when I’d stay up all night playing this game hoping one day I could make my own video games. Still a dream I have as a 27-year-old man. Skip Jones studios Will go down as one of the greatest companies to ever exist in the meta-verse. Thank you pokelawls for reviving this game for me and others.
The Best Game on The App Store
I LOVE Game dev story and i think the price is very much worth the experience the game takes a relatively implement idea and adds strategy and planning, and just joking around. My one small problem with the game is word limits for games and consoles and maybe how there’s only one console icon, other then that problems are very minor like running out of places to go and running out of good new employees, with some polish it could become undoubtly the BEST game on the App Store.

I first got this game clear back in 2011. I didn’t think they’d continue supporting it for this long, but I’m glad they do.
Paradoxically, I have become basically incapable of receiving the Grand Prize. My games sell millions of copies and consistently rank at #1 but that Grand Prize always hovers just out of reach. In my latest save, it took over 20 years to get the GP. I don’t know if this is a bug or unfavorable RNG.
One of The Greats
So weird to know I’ve been playing this game on and off since I was in middle school. This game was WAY ahead of its time and has aged great. So much fun, no micro transactions. Yes it’s a loop, but like I said, these idle type games didnt exist. Plus, you can name each game, hire your own staff, make your own console, etc. You have total agency and create your own story. Wonderful game for people of all ages.
