Code Vein: Best Blood Codes

I n this Code Vein Guide, we’re going to take a hard look at the Blood Codes of the game, and see just which ones are the best to use. Not all Blood Codes in Code Vein are created equal, and many you find later in the game simply out perform those found earlier. It’s not always clear which Blood Code is the best to use, because there are many variables that can make things complicated, and sorting through it all takes an unhealthy amount of time. Luckily for you, I have not slept in over a week, and have done a lot of testing and math during that time.

Code Vein: Best Blood Codes

There are many things that may make you decide to use a Blood Code in Code Vein, but it really boils down to about 2 reasons. First is the scaling of the Blood Code, and how that will affect your Weapon & Gifts. And second is the unique Gift that some Blood Codes have, that you cannot use if you don’t use that specific Blood Code. There are other factors of course, most notably Mobility, but these are the primary two reason to select a Blood Code.

Each Blood Code in Code Vein is usually going to excel at either Strength, Dexterity, Mind or Willpower. Some Blood Codes excel at more than one of these things, or don’t excel at anything in particular, but generally each Blood Code has a theme. Determining what the theme is is pretty straightforward in many cases, but wading through all the details, and comparing them to other Blood Codes that share the same theme can be difficult. Let’s begin with Strength Blood Codes first, and which are the best in that category.

Best Strength Blood Codes

There are many good Strength Blood Codes in Code Vein, and you can’t get them all right away, so you’ll need to use one early on until you can gain one of them later. For this reason I’ll begin with the best early game Strength Blood Code, and that is: Atlas.

Atlas allows you to use Adrenaline, Overdrive, Gift Extension and Blood Sacrifice with just one passive into Willpower/Mind. This frees up all other passives for Weapon Mastery, Swift Destruction, and Strength/Dexterity Up, taking you all the way to S rating, and later S+ when you get Somatic Zeal. You will also be in the Normal Mobility range with lighter Blood Veils, which makes Dodging much easier. The downsides of this Blood Code is that you cannot use Bridge to Glory without sacrificing other passives, and you have very low Ichor (10).

Later in the game, when more Blood Codes become available, you’ll look to replace Atlas with either Hades or Ishtar. Hades has more overall damage per swing by about 8%, since it can reach S+ scaling, and it has more weight allowing for heavier Blood Veils and still remaining in the Normal Mobility range. However, it has half the Max Ichor than Ishtar, making it a toss up on which you’d rather use. Do you want more damage per hit, or more Ichor to spend on Skill Gifts? It’s really up to you.

Best Dexterity Blood Codes

Like Strength, there are many good Dexterity Blood Codes, but there are a couple that stick out from the rest. Let’s take a look at what the best early game Dexterity Blood Code is first, and that is Prometheus. It has the stat spread to get all the buffs you need, out performs Artemis by about 20% in terms of damage, and has better Mobility.

Later in the game both Queenslayer and Scout are excellent choices, as is Heimdall. Queenslayer will dominate with any Weapon that has good Dexterity Scaling unless you are running Heimdall and using Sacrificial Edge. However, Final Journey in Queenslayer outperforms even this when activated, but you cannot use it all the time. Scout allows for high damage with lesser Scaling Dexterity weapons and better Mobility and Ichor. You can use any one of these, but it will be regulated by which weapon you choose to use. Queenslayer should always be used for Boss fights.

Best Willpower Blood Codes

When it comes to Willpower Blood Codes, early on in the game you’re going to want to look for Artemis. It has A in Willpower Scaling and has exceptional all around stats that help meet the requirements of many different Weapon types. It’s unique passive also allows you to gain Ichor via dodging if you want to use it, which is nice.

Late game there are really a few choices you can go with: Queen’s Throat, Queen and Harmonia. You will not be able to get all these in a single run because you cannot gain Queen or Harmonia until NG+ if you get Queen’s Throat, and vice versa. Of the three, Queen’s Throat is the best suited for maximum pure spell casting damage because you can have Quick Mobility, which increases damage from Swift Destruction. This is about 5% more damage than Harmonia.

Harmonia has better all around stats than Queen’s Throat, allowing you to use a few more Weapons, but not many. The Queen Blood Code has even better all around stats, allowing for the use of even more weapons, but has the lowest spell casting damage of the three and is about 5% less than Harmonia, and 10% less than Queen’s Throat. This means you’ll have to decide what is more important to you, pure spell damage, or more weapon variety.

Best Mind Blood Codes

Mind Blood Codes are a bit different than others because they boost some melee attack buffs in the game, and high Mind is a requirement for Bridge to Glory which is one of the best of these. This means that if you use a Mind-based Build, you naturally gravitate to some sort of melee Build, or you loose out on a huge chunk of what makes Mind such a great Stat. For this reason, it’s a bit more complicated when selected and Mind Blood Code, but let’s take a look at what are arguably the two best early game Blood Codes for Mind: Hermes and Darkseeker.

Of these two Blood Codes, Hermes is more oriented for Strength/Mind Builds and Darkseeker is the better option for Dexterity/Mind Builds. What weapon type you use will very much determine which of these is best for you, so select either of these based on your Weapon’s Scaling.

Late game there are really two Blood Codes that work and these are Eos and Queen’s Throat. Eos has much better all around stats, making it ideal for hybrid Builds that use spells and weapons. You can also find it much earlier on in the game, making it more appealing. Queen’s Throat does roughly the same thing, it just needs different Gifts to set it up. Of the two I highly recommend Eos, because it gives you a better weapon selection for the same damage, and the extra Mobility from Queen’s Throat is wasted because you can use the Noble Silver Blood Veil with either and still be Quick.

Final Thoughts

The best Blood Code in Code Vein is somewhat dependent on the weapon you select, because though both Scout and Queenslayer are excellent Blood Codes for Dexterity Builds, you’ll find that which one is better will vary depending on which DEX weapon you use. I’ve narrowed down which are generally the best here, but be sure to test each of the ones I’ve listed to see what works best with your exact setup.

There are other workable Blood Codes that, though not quite as good as the ones I’ve listed, are a small percentage from being there. You will not have access to every Blood Code until you have completed the majority of the game on NG+, so sometimes the best Blood Code for you will be one that you have access to. It’s totally fine to use these and then “upgrade” when you get the ones I’ve mentioned.

Lastly, Queenslayer is the pound for pound “queen” of Blood Codes in Code Vein when it comes to Boss fights. It will out perform any other Blood Code while you have Queenslayer exclusive Gift: Final Journey activated, and that’s not just for Strength and Dexterity Builds. That also includes Mind and Willpower Builds as well. It will increase the damage of Builds by about: 25% (Dexterity), 50% Strength, 25% (Mind), and 15% (Willpower), over the Blood Codes I’ve listed earlier. However, you will die when the effect ends so this Gift cannot be used easily outside of Bosses. For this reason, it’s best to find a Build that works for levels, and then switch to Queenslayer for Boss Fights.

There are 20 Blood Codes in Code Vein. The following is what you need to know about them:\

Fighter

This Blood Code boasts endurance and is great for melee combat. It will raise abilities that are based on strength and dexterity. The following is how this Blood Code is described in Code Vein:

The blood code of a warrior who wields a sword longer than they are tall. It holds the will of one who risked their lives using every ounce of strength they had in Operation Queenslayer. This code boasts endurance for melee combat. Raises abilities based on strength and dexterity.

This Blood Code is unlocked by default so you do not need to unlock it. The Blood Code has 5 gifts and the following is what you need to know about them:

The downside with this class is that you get low Ichor. If you master parrying then that is not going to be an issue. The following is how this Blood Code is described in the game:

You will need to defeat the first boss, Oliver Collins in order to unlock this Blood Code. It has 6 gifts which are as follows:

The owner of the Blood Code is Miguel Garcia and you can get it by defeating the Ashen Cavern boss. It has 6 gifts and the following is what you need to know about them:

A blood code received from Karen. It holds her merciful will to sacrifice herself for those who suffer the torment of thirst and carry the burden of sins caused by a cruel fate. Features gift based support with its high ichor stock, or high strength-based damage.

The owner of this Blood Code is Karin and you can get it under the Successor of the Ribcage boss room after defeating all hour Successors. It has 4 gifts and the following is what you need to know about them:

Io is the owner of this Blood Code and in order to unlock it you need to talk to IO after defeating Successor of the Ribcage. The Blood Code has 8 gifts and the following is what you need to know about them:

Fionn

This Blood Code has high endurance and total weight. The Ichor stock is low but that is not going to be an issue if you have mastered parrying. The following is how it is described in the game:

Features high endurance and total weight. Its low ichor can be offset with tough armor.

The owner of this Blood Code is Nicola Karnstein. You can unlock it by collecting Fionn Vestige A, B, C and D and handing them to the woman in front of the boss room. The Blood Code has 8 gifts which are as follows:

You can unlock the Blood Code by defeating the Successor of the Breath without restoring the memories of Nicola during the final memory sequence. Note that you will not get this option if you do not have all the Fionn vestiges.

A blood code inherited from a repaired vestige core. It holds the proud will of a veteran warrior who kept swinging their weapon until the very end.

The Blood Code can be found at the Crypt Spire. From the entrance mistle, head in. At the split, you need to take the right path to the ladder and make your way up. You will then get to a platform with a hole in the middle. Go to the door on the other side. At the split, take the right again. In the next room, go to the left outer ring and use the ladder to go up. You will find the vestige in the middle.

This Blood Code has 4 gifts and the following is what you need to know about them:

Сюжет там про ревенантов, которые по сути вампиры (ну или мертвые люди накаченные специальными то ли наномашинами, то ли паразитом, то ли еще чем-то получившимся в ходе эксперимента, которые после смерти получили сверхспособности и им нужна кровь, чтобы функционировать, но легче писать «ревенанты», потому что они так называются и это в разы короче), а «потерянные» это те же ревенанты, которые просто обезумели от нехватки крови и/или миазмы, оставшейся после эксперимента, которая усиливает её жажду. In Code Vein, your character will have their own “Blood Code”; this represents their character class. A very interesting feature of Code Vein is that instead of having the traditional character class mechanics, players are free to level up different Blood Codes at the same time. We have explained this unique character class system in this Code Vein Blood Codes guide below.

Code Vein Blood Codes

You will start the game with three Blood Codes available: Fighter, Ranger, and Caster. More Blood Codes will be unlocked as you progress in the game and in this guide we will show you how.

You can switch around your Blood Codes any time you want, enabling you to strategize in real-time. The actions of your character, their stats, available gifts and the ability to wield different weapons will depend on these Blood Codes. This opens up the door for a crazy number of unique builds in Code Vein.

Every Blood Code possesses multiple Gifts which provide useful effects. Code Vein also allows you to equip any passive and/or active gift you want, depending upon your playstyle.

Most of the Blood Codes currently available in the game can be obtained by just progressing through the story. However, there are some codes which may be found by exploring certain locations.

Another thing to note is that as you acquire Vestige items in the map, you can travel back to Home Base and give them to Io. Once you give them to her, she will upgrade the codes you have, or even let you acquire some special new codes.

Now that you know what the Blood Codes actually are, let’s talk about each individual Blood Code and its benefits.

Fighter

Fighter is one of the three Blood Codes which are available at the start of the game. The main focus of this code is raw strength and melee power. The abilities of this Blood Code are as follows:

Assassin

The Assassin Blood code is owned by Riki, and it provides boosts that are good for melee combat. It also boosts surprise attacks. It can be obtained by going to the Howling pit.

Atlas

The Atlas Blood codes will allow you to utilize heavy armor, great for close range combat. This Blood code is owned by Yakumo and can be obtained by activating the first Mistle in the Hollow Pit. It has the following gifts.

Dark Knight

The Dark Knight Blood code is owned by Miguel Garcia, and it provides high strength and endurance boosts. It can be obtained by defeating the Ashen Cavern Boss.

Demeter

Demeter Blood code provides high Ichor, which will do high strength damage and is good for support. It is owned by Karin and provides the following gifts.

Eos blood code has gifts perfect for support. It is owned by Io and is unlocked when you defeat Successor of Ribcage. It has the following gifts.

Fionn

Fionn Blood Code provides really high endurance. It is owned by Nicola Karnstein and can be obtained by collecting Fionn Vestiges from different locations. It has the following gifts.

Hades

Hades Blood Codes has high strength and dexterity, which results in high attack power. It is owned by Gregorio Silva and unlocks by defeating the final boss. It has the following gifts.

Harmonia

Harmonia Blood Code provides dark gifts. It is owned by Eva Roux and can be obtained by defeating Successor of Throat and the restore all Harmonia vestiges. It has the following gifts.

Ishtar

Ishtar provides gifts that help both attack and defense. It is owned by Cruz Silva and can be unlocked by beating the Queen’s knight. It has the following gifts.

Astrea

Astrea Blood code is an alternate blood code for Mia. It features stability and balances gifts. It is unlocked as part of the deluxe edition/season DLC. It has the following gifts.

Harbinger

This Blood Code has high power and unique gifts. It is a pre-order bonus and has the following ability.

The Queenslayer Blood Code provides high endurance and HP. It is unlocked by defeating Queen’s Knight in Memories of Player.

Survivor

The Survivor Blood code provides dexterity gifts and is owned by Carmilla. It can be obtained from Ashen Caverns. It has the following gifts.

Queen’s Ribcage

Queen’s Ribcage provides great ranged gifts. This Blood code can be obtained by defeating the Successor of Ribcage and then not restoring her memories. It has the following gifts.

Isis blood code provides ranged gifts and is owned by Aurora Valentino. It can be unlocked by defeating the Ribcage Successor and then restoring Isis vestiges. It has the following gifts.

Survivor

The Survivor Blood code provides dexterity gifts. It is owned by Camilla and can be obtained by going to Ashen Caverns. It has the following gifts.

Warrior

The Warrior Blood Code provides gifts for fighting and focuses on strength. It is located at Crypt Spire. It has the following gifts.

The Vali Blood Code is owned by Lord of Thunder, and you need to have the ‘Lord of Thunder’ DLC in order to get this Blood Code. It provides the following gifts.

The Ymir Blood Code is owned by Ymir the Frozen Empress. It is part of the Frozen Empress DLC and can be obtained by defeating her in the fight. It has the following gifts.

How to Use Blood Codes in Code Vein
To use these Blood Codes, open the character menu by hitting the Options button, then select the central slot.

Once you do this, a list of all Blood Codes in your possession will be displayed. From here, you can pick whatever Blood Code you want to equip.

After equipping a code of your choice, remember to equip your Gifts as well.

Hunter Blood Code
The Hunter Blood Code is one of the best Blood codes that are available to the players early in the game. It provides gifts that give you a great advantage in ranged combat while also having a couple of gifts that benefit bayonet rifles as well. All in all, it is a versatile blood code and is available early in the game.

Prometheus Blood Code
The Prometheus Blood Code is the best Blood code for melee combat. It provides great mobility and also boosts dexterity and strength. It also has gifts that give boosts to dodging and one-hand weapons.

Isis Blood Code
The Isis Blood Code provides boosts in range combat while also focusing on dark damage, which makes it one of the best Blood codes available in the game.

Atlas Blood Code
The Atlas Blood code is the best choice for players who prefer a slower playstyle. Atlas Blood code allows players to equip heavy armors, which slows the player’s movement speed but also increases the defense very much

How to Use Blood Codes

To use these Blood Codes, open the character menu by hitting the Options button, then select the central slot.

Once you do this, a list of all Blood Codes in your possession will be displayed. From here, you can pick whatever Blood Code you want to equip. After equipping a code of your choice, remember to equip your Gifts as well.

Code Vein is the latest action role-playing game developed by BANDAI NAMCO Studios. In this game, you will be playing as a revenant who has lost his blood code. Blood code is the special power that can be equipped by the revenant to change its class.

Code Vein Blood Code List

During your tutorial, you will be taught about blood codes and how to equip them. Each revenant can only equip one type of blood code, but you are special and belong to the void type according to Louis. Therefore you can obtain and equip multiple blood code.

Fighter/ Ranger/ Caster

Fighter- Boasts endurance for melee combat. Raises abilities based on strength and dexterity.

Ranger- This code excels at providing support and defense buffs with Gifts.

Caster- Specializes in powerful attack-type Gifts that can be used from a distance.

After completing the tutorial, you will these obtain 3 blood pact. Don’t worry even if you skip the tutorial, you will have these blood pact from the beginning of the game, but we recommend you to complete the tutorial in order to learn all about the equipment, blood pacts, gifts, and items.

Berserker

Features high strength and endurance. Its low ichor stock can be offset with heavy armor.

This blood code belongs to Oliver Collins who was your partner at the beginning of the game where you have to find a blood bead. Oliver will turn into lost and you need to fight him once you get out of that underground into the surface.

After defeating him, you will obtain his blood code “Berserker”.

Prometheus

Well-balanced for combat, but fragile. Its Gifts bolster dodging and parrying.

This blood code belongs to Louis and after defeating the first main boss Oliver, you have to talk to Louis to get his blood code.

Hunter

Excels at ranged combat. Features Gifts that support ranged attacks with the bayonet.

To get this blood code, you need to visit Area E-13 Ruined City Center. Go to the location shown in the image above and you get the hunter blood pact. After obtaining it you will encounter some lost who will come hunting you searching for blood. Kill them all to earn a huge amount of Haze.

Harbinger

Boasts high power and unique Gifts that can only be used by those with determination

This blood pact can only be obtained if you have pre-ordered the Code Vein game. After defeating the first main boss Oliver, you will visit Louis place, there you need to go underground where you will obtain the blood pact “Harbinger”

Queenslayer

А в чем конкретно проблема? Делаешь стандартную комбу пока цель не уходит в стан, жмешь дрейн, среднистатистический моб при этом обычно умирает. Особой необоходимости в этом нет если честно, бекстаб обычно быстрее и дает больше очков.

During the gameplay in Code Vein, your character will have his/her own «character class». It is expressed with the help of so-called Blood Code. This section of our guide contains an overview of this mechanics in the game.

In the game, instead of a standard character classes model, you will witness the so-called Blood Code. This is the basis for the defined active and passive abilities. In this case, you do not have to choose one particular specialty. Instead you can freely choose the skills from different Blood Code categories.

Initially you have access to only three character classes, but over time you will gain access to other Blood Code categories.
