The show revolves around diner owner Hattie Mae Love and her middle class family’s daily triumphs and struggles. The focal point of the show is a location known as the Love Train Diner, an old locomotive car converted to a diner that serves up all of Hattie Mae’s old recipes. It is the neighborhood hang out spot that, along with great food, serves up a whole lot of fun and offers advice to its customers in all walks of life.

In the first season of this comic tale, Hattie Mae has had enough of grown people staying in her house. First her jobless grandson, Danny finds himself on Hattie’s sofa after graduating from college. She kicks him out to encourage him to seek employment. Luckily for Danny, he soon lands a job (with the help of his best friends Sam and Drew) at the internet design firm Beagal and Steve and he also finds a place to stay (in Sam’s apartment). Shortly thereafter Hattie’s recently divorced daughter, Linda finds herself living with her mother, since her four year marriage to her husband Lionel, is now over. Hattie puts her foot down and shows the toughest love there is by sending Linda to the door. She eventually allows Linda to move back in at the behest of Danny and her brother-in-law Floyd, until she’s able to get on her feet. Subsequently Linda begins working at the Love Train Diner alongside her mother and Floyd.

LTN has worked alongside many community organizations and your toy and clothes donations to our annual events have benefitted children and families at the YWCA (homeless families in San Diego), Dreams For Change, San Diego Dream Center, Es Por Los Niños in Tijuana (organization to help children with Aids), the Los Laureles neighborhood in Tijuana, Colonia Primo Tapia in Rosarito, The Training Center (men’s home in Spring Valley Ca), Monarch School (homeless students in San Diego), Stand Up for Kids Shelter, San Ysidro School District, New Jerusalem (Haitian Refugee Shelter), Sonrisa De Angeles Orphanage in Tijuana, Lowrider Community in National City, Emilio Nares Foundation, as well as directly to the Homeless Community on the streets in downtown San Diego, and several private families with financial hardships that would not be able to provide a Christmas for their family.
For 3 years LTN curated the annual art shows for the National City’s Chamber of Commerce Tree lighting Ceremony.
In support of the SDPD, we have come alongside the Families In Motion program to share our stories at their youth diversion programs.

In the middle of the night, Laura Benson is alone in the house with her daughter Erin when she is awakened by the frantic barking of dog Fred. She goes to see what is going on and finds two burglars, one of whom is pointing a gun at her. She runs to protect Erin and call the cops.
When husband Jim gets home from a business trip, he refuses to leave his family again, despite a deadline. Laura goes back to work as a counselor for St. Agnes (we’re never told just what that is), but it soon becomes clear SHE is the one in need of counseling.
With just Jim’s income, selling the house and moving to a gated community doesn’t seem the most logical course of action, but it is necessary for Laura to regain her sanity. Or at least that was the theory. Jim sells airplanes, and the more he can be away, the more money he can make, so maybe this will work out after all.
The family’s first visitor is an affectionate feline who gets the name Fred. He is followed by the annoyingly friendly Janice Rivers and her shy daughter Jenny. Janice is divorced because of abuse (and Jenny’s father wants custody), and she tries a little too hard to make sure her new neighbors like her. Jenny and Erin do become friends and try out for the soccer team.
Will this ideal community turn out to be better than the «real world»? Well, if it did, what would be the point of the movie? There are a lot of problems that need solving, and plenty of twists that may or may not be the result of what one might expect.
Shannon Lawson is the biggest reason to watch. She does a great job as the perky yet disturbed neighbor. She seems like a cross between Edie McClurg and Kelly Bishop in «Gilmore Girls». No, make that Joan Crawford. Yeah, that’s better.
Ksenia Solo makes a likable but slightly edgy teenage daughter. And Alexandra Paul is quite good-looking, and a capable actress too.
Sean Baek doesn’t spend much time on screen, but he’s scary enough as one of the burglars.
There is some violence, but for the most part it’s not too graphic. Language is tamer than in most theatrical movies, but one word that seems to trouble broadcast networks gets used quite a bit. I don’t recommend this movie to pet lovers who might be easily upset.
It’s actually a pretty good thriller. For a Lifetime movie, anyway.
**SPOILERS** It’s when Erin Benson, Ksenla Solo, made the high school womens succor team at the expense of her daughter Jenny, Michelle Killoran, Janis Rivers, Shannon Lawson, who wasn’t that stable to begin with completely flipped out of her skull. Determined to get Jenny on the team Janis started to hound Erin’s mom Laura Benson, Alexandra Paul, into having her daughter reject her position on the team in favor of Jenny. This was just the beginning of the damage that Janis caused in the movie not only to the Benson’s who at first were her best friends but everyone else whom she felt was a threat to her perfect lifestyle.
We already saw what an overbearing nut case Janis was at the beginning of the movie but as time went on she went from silly to obnoxious to murderous in trying to get her way at the expense of anyone whom she felt threatened the perfect world that she created for herself. When in fact it was Janis who was threatening everyone in the movie including her daughter Jenny and estranged and severely battered husband Allen, John Jarvis. As for the Bensons, Laura Erin and Papa Jim, played by Gary Hudson, they just moved into this supposedly safe and gated community of the Arbor Eden Etsates thinking all the trouble they went through in the old neighborhood was behind them. That’s when they were the victims of a home invasion where their pet dog Fred was killed. With the crazed Janis Rivers now out to get her, and her daughter Erin, Laura is in far more danger now then when was when she ever was back then! With Janis pulling out all stops to destroy her and her daughter’s future in the world of women’s soccer as well as getting a collage scholarship and education!
***SPOILERS*** What struck me as a bit ridicules is how Janis was able to convince Erins succor Coach Brand, Scott Wickwere, that Erin was on drugs and have her kicked off the team without a stitch of proof at all! What’s even more ridicules is when the coach didn’t put Jenny back on the succor team Janis then plants a story that he was having an affair with the mother of one of his succor players, obviously Mrs. Benson, and has him canned by the school principle Rennet, Paul Stevens. Why the hell would Rennet listen to this obvious nut-job and not to Coach Brand whom he’s known for some 20 years! And if anybody in the movie would have just had done a background check on Janis they would have known right away that she’s someone not to be taken seriously in her accusations against anyone!
As usual the good part in the movie is saved for last with a now totally crazed and out of control Janis,in seeing her entire fantasy world collapsing all around her, go for it in trying to do in a at first a terrified Laura Benson who quickly ends up getting the upper hand and finally puts an end to Janis reign of terror at quiet and peaceful Arbor Eden Estates.
After a violent break-in and robbery, crisis-counselor Alexandra Paul (as Laura Benson) is disturbed by flashbacks. Her soccer-playing teen daughter Ksenia Solo (as Erin) has nightmares. Husband and father Gary Hudson (as Jim), often absent due to his work, decides to move the Illinois family of three to a gated community. Idyllic «Arbor Eden» is heavily secured; it has an entrance officer, coded doorways, and super-tough windows. As this is a «Lifetime» TV-thriller, you can assume they will be needed.
At first, all seems well. The family adopts smart cat «Fred» to replace their likewise named, and unfortunately murdered, dog. Problems involve missing furniture and overbearing neighbor Shannon Lawson (as Janis Rivers). In a custody battle with her ex, Ms. Lawson lives with painfully shy daughter Michelle Killoran (as Jenny), in a perfectly decorated house. As chicken-fed chubby as Paul is attractively thin, Lawson gets on her neighbors’ nerves. Lawson deliciously bites into her role, helping make this one fun.

He’s handsome, a Brit (oh, accents does it every time), strong chisel face, hair begging to be grabbed. yup. that hunky, smart neighbor who has beautiful models going in and out of his loft. He’s handsome, a Brit (oh, accents does it every time), strong chisel face, hair begging to be grabbed. yup. that hunky, smart neighbor who has beautiful models going in and out of his loft. Oh, yes. and he is a photographer. shooting these lovelies all day long. but wait.. here is the best part. he longs for a real, curvy, non-plastic woman. someone who isn’t all boney and stick figured. someone he could hold on to.
Well, interior designer Nikki Norris is his neighbor and low and behold is the perfect replica of his womanly wish list. She is smart, beautiful with legs, curves and everything our fella dreams about. Nikki finds herself there as she is overcoming all kinds of drama; her ex business partner ran off with all of the funds and fees from clients, leaving Nikki to deal with all of the mess. She has had to go bankrupt and figure out how to reinvent her business. Then her fiance of five years left her with the parting comment of «she was boring». and hooked up with a barely legal.
Nikki is just trying to put all her pieces together and start fresh. But she still has a nagging feeling the fiance should come back to her. she is right for him, etc. As she starts to figure out her surroundings. she has a episode of stuck in elevator with hunky Brit neighbor. sparks and currents run high while there. and as they emerge and are going to their lofts. ex see Nikki all friendly with Dallas. Dallas knows all about the ex. they shared some personal stuff while in the elevator. Dallas acts a little more touchy to Nikki leaving an impression on the ex. Turns out he is there to break more bad new to Nikki. he is taking his new girlfriend to the wedding of best friends both of them are close with. Nikki acts like she doesn’t care. but when Dallas runs across her later. it all comes out of how crappy it is making her feel.
Dallas is highly attracted to Nikki. but he does not do relationships. been burned by women in so many ways he gets cold sweats at the idea. but there is something about Nikki. and so a plan is set. He will take her to the wedding as her guy. ex will be jealous and «see the light». Both will be cool. both know the deal. no commitments; friends to the end. and no hard feelings.
I enjoyed the chemistry between these two. there were plenty of scenes which we knew were coming but were written for maximum pleasure. Any time a man can show a woman what she has been missing from a former lover. I am there. Dallas got an A plus in my book 😀
This tackled a couple of issues which are real today. women and their body images. How marketing shapes how we think we should look. It also expressed the seriousness of damage done to us as children. how parents make serious mistakes. do things. and how it can impact who the children become later. what issues they fight until they can make peace with it.
What I really appreciated was eventually every one took responsibility of who they were and what they wanted out of life. This also had secondary characters I liked and if they end up having their stories told in the future. then I will be back for more.

Love Thy Neighbour was a British sitcom which ran from 1972 to 1976, with seven series in total. The sitcom was produced by Thames Television for the ITV network. The principal cast were actors Jack Smethurst, Rudolph Walker, Nina Baden-Semper and Kate Williams. In 1973, the series was adapted into a film of the same name, and a later sequel series was set in Australia. It came in at no. 68 in a popular vote for Britain’s Favourite Sitcom.
The show is extremely politically incorrect, and because of its language and attitudes could never be repeated on mainstream TV today. Because of the racist language used, readers are advised that looking up excerpts on YouTube or elsewhere would be considered NSFW.
Retrospective opinion is beginning to be kind to this show and acknowledges that it was in some respects intelligently funny and like Till Death Us Do Part, the ignorant racist was the Butt-Monkey who always came off worst. Examples exist on YouTube if you want to judge for yourself.
If you are looking for the American TV sitcom Love Thy Neighbor, this is probably the wrong page. note The American series of the same name is unrelated and totally different. is pleased to announce our partnership with Heart of the City, Lewisville. They are a well-run, growing organization driven to serve those in need. LTN is excited for the opportunity to share in that growth and they are ready to welcome us as a new partner. As mentioned in the video below, you can find some great information on their website and Facebook pages. News videos are also linked at the bottom of this announcement.
Volunteers are definitely needed going forward, so please consider volunteering with us. Plans for a welcome party and tour are in the works for mid-December. Existing Love Thy Neighbor volunteers will be contacted by their Program Manager with more details!
The Love Thy Baby program will continue without changes into 2022. The new Board of Directors will be keeping you up to date on all of the goings-on with Love Thy Neighbor and Heart of the City.

Heart of the City-Lewisville:
Since opening their first food pantry in 2019, HOTC has been growing rapidly. Their mobile food pantry allows them to serve other locations in Lewisville and Carrollton. The North Texas Food Bank has awarded them the Growth Champion Award for 2021. This news footage shows their compassion.
Heart of the City has also opened a clothing closet at their main location and hosted clothing events at the other locations. The West Lewisville location will soon have a clothing closet of their own!

Love Thy Neighbor is a North Texas non-profit, with no paid staff. Virtually all donations go to support our programs. We have been fortunate enough to receive a few grants to assist us in delivering our programs, but we rely on our donors. Over 95% of donations go directly to assisting those in need, the remainder is for office supplies, insurance, and fundraising.

Tyler Perry Studios Ups Mark Swinton To SVP Scripted Programming
Exclusive: Mark Swinton has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Scripted Programming at Tyler Perry Studios. In his expanded role, Swinton will oversee the creative department which includes current programming, casting and development. Serving as head of scripted, Swinton reports to Tps’ Chief Operating Officer Robert A. Boyd II. He will also continue to write, produce and direct.
Swinton is a film, television, and theater writer, producer, and director who has been working in the entertainment industry for 25 years, the past 14 years with Tps. During that time, he has produced several of Perry’s shows that are currently on-air, including The Oval, Sistas and Ruthless on BET, Bruh on BET+ and Young Dylan on Nickelodeon. He serves as an Executive Producer, writer, and director on BET’s House of Payne and Assisted Living.
On the film side, he has produced features including Nobody’s Fool with Whoopi Goldberg and Tiffany Haddish,
Jackie Mason, One of the Last Borscht Belt Comedians, Dies at 93
Jackie Mason, the sometimes-controversial standup comedian who unapologetically embraced Jewish themes and political incorrectness, achieving a national profile through a series of successful one-man shows on Broadway without substantial work in film or television, died Saturday in Manhattan. He was 93.
The New York Times said his death was confirmed by his friend Raoul Felder.
Mason was one of the last of the Borscht Belt comedians, and he married that sensibility to strong views on racial and ethnic politics.
He also recurred on “The Simpsons” as the voice of Rabbi Hyman Krustofsky, the father of Krusty the Clown, winning his second Emmy for his efforts in 1992 and most recently voicing the character in a 2014 episode. He also appeared as himself in a 2007 episode of “30 Rock.”
In the 2004 TV special “Comedy Central Presents: 100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time,” he was ranked No. 63.

Jackie Mason, the stand-up comic whose career spanned several decades and became a template and poster child of sorts for Jewish self-deprecation, died Saturday at New York’s Mount Sinai Hospital the age of 93. His friend, lawyer Raoul Felder, confirmed Mason’s death to the New York Times.
“He died peacefully with several close friends and family at his side,” Felder told CNN, adding that he had been hospitalized for two weeks with breathing difficulties.

Allow her to reintroduce herself: Mabel, a series exploring the untold origins of Tyler Perry‘s Madea character, is being developed at Showtime, our sister site Deadline reports.
“Every great story has to start somewhere and every legend has a beginning,” reads the series’ official logline. “Long before she was the force of nature known as Madea she was a smart, fierce, irresistible, dangerous, crazy 20-something black woman named…Mabel Simmons. ‘The Prom’ Choreographer Casey Nicholaw Shares How Transferred Broadway Musical Moves to Netflix’s Adaptation
When Ryan Murphy called Broadway choreographer Casey Nicholaw to oversee the dance numbers on his film adaptation of “The Prom,” about a group of self-absorbed theater actors who go to a conservative Indiana town to support a lesbian high school student’s dating choice, it was a sort of return engagement. After all, Nicholaw, whose credits include “Mean Girls,” “The Book of Mormon” and “Aladdin,” served as choreographer on the 2018 Broadway production of “The Prom.” And when he walked onto what had been an empty lot in downtown L.A., he got a familiar thrill — the sight of the New York Theater District.

grown-ish is going back to school in the new year, with the latter half of Season 3 set to premiere on Thursday, Jan. 21 at 8/7c on Freeform.

Among the shiny, bouncy, madly infectious musical numbers that are a big part of what make Ryan Murphy’s “The Prom” such an old-fashioned newfangled blast, one of the show-stopping highlights is “Love Thy Neighbor,” which Trent (Andrew Rannells), a struggling Broadway drama queen who has landed on the distant planet known as small-town Indiana, sings to a bunch of clean-cut and pious Middle American teenagers from James Madison High School. They’re at a shopping-mall food court, where one of the students tells Trent, “We don’t have a drama program,” causing Trent to snap, “That explains your general lack of empathy.”

Netflix and Sony Music Masterworks have announced the release date for The Prom (Music From the Netflix Film), the soundtrack for Ryan Murphy’s cinematic Broadway adaptation of the same name. The album will be available digitally on December 4th and on CD on December 18th, following the film’s release date on December 11th only on Netflix.

Hulu, Discovery Ink Deal for Live TV Channels, Exclusive On-Demand Shows
After well over a year of haggling, Hulu clinched a pact with Discovery to bring five of the cabler’s networks to Hulu’s live-streaming internet TV lineup along with thousands of on-demand episodes.
The companies had been in talks on an agreement since before Hulu launched its over-the-top streaming TV service in May 2017.
The multiyear deal will bring five additional Discovery networks to Hulu With Live TV, set to be available to subscribers starting in December 2018: Discovery Channel, TLC, Investigation Discovery, Motor Trend (the rebranded Velocity) and Animal Planet. Hulu has an existing distribution pact with Scripps Networks Interactive — now owned by Discovery — for Hgtv, Food Network and Travel Channel.
Under the pact, Hulu will boost its on-demand lineup with Discovery shows, expanding to nearly 4,000 episodes from the non-fiction programmer. 2018 Emmy Awards nominations ballot: See the 117 Best Comedy Series hopefuls from A (‘A.P. Bio’) to Y (‘Younger’)
On the 2018 Emmy Awards nominations ballot, TV academy voters must consider a whopping 117 comedy series; that is up from 104 last year. Until last year, Emmy voters could pick only 10 comedies on their nomination ballots. Now, the TV academy tells its members to “Vote for as many achievements in this category that you have seen and feel are worthy of a nomination.”
Remember, only seven of the shows below will earn bids for Best Comedy Series when the nominations are announced on July 12. And with HBO’s two-time reigning champ “Veep” out of the running, we are guaranteed to have a new winner this year. Will it be one of last year’s other six nominees: “Atlanta,” “Black-ish,” “Master of None,” “Modern Family,” “Silicon Valley” or “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”? Or will a rookie contender make it to the stage on September 17?

Tyler Perry’s Love Thy Neighbor, the new situation comedy by writer and director Tyler Perry is a wonderfully fresh show about a middle class family, and their daily joys, struggles, triumphs, and fumbles. Hattie Mae Love (Patrice Lovely) lives in the simple home that she and one of her husbands bought some time ago. Linda (Kendra C. Johnson) her daughter, splits her time between Hattie’s home and the apartment she sometimes shares with her on-again off-again husband, Lionel. Danny (Andre Hall), Linda’s son, is his mother’s pride and joy. He is young, handsome, smart, and looking for a job. After graduating from college, Danny finds himself on his grandmother Hattie Mae’s sofa. Floyd (Palmer Williams, Jr.), the uncle, through his late brother’s marriage to Hattie Mae, is an ever-present thorn in the family’s side. Like old luggage, they can never seem to get rid of him.
In the first season of this comic tale, Hattie Mae has had enough of grown people living in her house. She puts her foot down and shows the toughest love there is by sending Linda and Danny to the door. Danny moves in with his friend Sam, and Linda eventually helps out down at Hattie Mae’s Love Train Diner.
The Love Train is an old locomotive car converted to a diner that serves up all of Hattie Mae’s old recipes. It is the neighborhood hang out spot that, along with great food, serves up a whole lot of fun. As Linda and Floyd commit to help Hattie Mae with the family business, blessings abound. Soon the customers multiply, and so do the laughs, the drama, and the love of a very comical family.
With the help of Danny’s new roommate Sam (Jonathan Chase), Danny soon lands a job at an internet design firm. Danny proves to be a star there. However living and working with Sam, a 30-year-old who is trapped in his teens, will prove to be more of a nightmare than Danny could ever imagine. As the parties get wilder, the women get crazier, and Danny’s young life becomes a humorous tale of dodging fanatical friends, and eccentric family members.
Nevertheless, Danny begins to excel at his new position when the Chicago office sends the beautiful Marianna to take over as boss of the Atlanta office. Marianna quickly falls in love with Danny’s work ethic and virtuous character. As a close knit team and family, the young twenty & thirty something’s embark on a number of adventures that go along with being young professionals in a contemporary & technical society.
All in all, Tyler Perry’s Love Thy Neighbor is a collection of stories that warm the heart, provoke thought, and always serves up a heap of laughs. Through all the changes, there is one constant, and that is the universal language called Love. It’s all about love.

Jack Benny and Fred Allen, in their respective popular and long-running shows in the golden age of radio, carried on probably the most famous and well-loved comedy mock-feud in history. The battle, carried on in snide remarks and guest appearances on the two series, was at its height around 1940, and «Love Thy Neighbor» capitalized by extending it to the movie screen.
The result is a slightly strange-feeling but enjoyable musical that seems torn between being an extension of the Benny and Allen radio series and being a standard-issue Hollywood musical. The two leads carry over their characters, but in spots seem to be playing toned-down versions of them. Jack Benny is still the butt of countless jokes for his vanity and cheapness, but he also, uncharacteristically, is the romantic lead who get the girl.
It’s a little unbelievable for Jack Benny to be falling for Fred Allen’s niece, but the niece is very engagingly played by Mary Martin. As a musical, though, this suffers from the fact that the soundtrack seems to be pushing one not-to-special song, «Isn’t That Just Like Love,» a little too hard to be a hit.
There are some off moments of humor here as well. Fred Allen absurd and witty barbs are just as funny as ever (I would be surprised if he did not contribute heavily to his part of the script), but he also seems to be a trigger-happy madman. He shoots the neon sign for Jack’s upcoming show through out through his bedroom window (helps him get to sleep). Then later he seems to get on a motorboat and chase Jack’s boat around while firing a gun and trying to shoot him dead. All this is played off breezily and they then briefly even make up, but having Fred try to kill Jack in cold blood seems a little over the top. We also have him taking about 60 sleeping pills in an attempt to alleviate the insomnia Jack has given him. He survives, and I suppose the filmmakers missed the suicidal implications.
