My daily life of countryside
My daily life of countryside
Daily Lives of my Countryside
Daily Lives of my Countryside

The rain is 60% chance. You can save and load.
Can you include the Linux NW.JS? It works fine on Linux, but end users have to know to download nwjs and extract it into the game directory.
Thanks but It’s might appear others bugs. It will only be Windows for now.

When I downloaded this game it downloaded a notes file. How do I change that so I can open the game?
This game currently only for Windows
Oh, well I knew that. Its just when I downloaded the file it turned into a notes file and not the correct type I needed to open and run the game. I’ve since fixed my problem though. Thanks for your help anyways its appreciated.
I’ve played some of this game before on my previous device and enjoyed it so I’m looking forward to playing it again.
The teacher keeps getting stuck. As soon as I’m about to leave, the MC says that she’s waiting for me or something and I can’t get out of the class bc no phones are able to be used and I can’t leave. Had to lead up my most recent save.
Go up, you should see Emmi is waiting.
How do you save the game during encounters with other characters, and how do you open settings while in game?

Question, how do I get caught by the swim club? I check every day but nothing happens during the check..

Hey mate great news, Robert helped me find it. Go there at17:00
There’s someone at the pool later in the day that you can talk to, they’ll help you join
You should probably decorate the itch page a little, upload some screenshots and write a short description at the very least. I googled it and the actual game looks beautiful but this page makes it seem like if I click download all my data is gonna go to some Iranian hacker.
Since you finally decided to put your game on itch, I have 1 simple request. Please remove the R18+ warning or just make it so that you can just enter the game instantly without waiting for the warning to end. Wasted 30s of my life every time I launch the game.
Oh boo-hoo, it’s just 30 seconds
So your fkin point is? If it doesn’t affect you and you’re perfectly fine at wasting your time looking at a loading screen then I allow you to shut your fkin mouth
You do realize the loading screen is there because it’s literally loading the game, right? It’s not instant.
Yes, finally this game is on itch.io.
tbh, this store page looked pretty sketchy but the comments seemed genuine, so I gave it a try. 6 hours in and I have enjoyed it quite a lot, great CGs, a somewhat slow burn with some teasers to keep it from becoming chore like, and a good payoff for most of it. This game already has as much content as some «full releases» I’ve seen which leaves me optimistic for future patches. It may suffer from some RPG maker shortcomings but these are larger circumnavigated with an in game guide and cheats if you get lost or don’t want to enjoy the more gradual climb. More of the same for me please.
Been waiting a long time for your game to show up on itch.io, now it’s here I can contribute to your work. Keep it up, looking forward to more content from you in the future.
You play as a little boy that goes to a farm with your aunt/niece. You can help out on the farm, go to school, eat dinner, shower, and sleep. The main hentai in the game involves showering with them and molesting them while they sleep.
There’s a couple other women in the game, but the content isn’t finished. One of the women is at the neighbor’s farm. I believe another is a classmate and their path involves visiting the school at night.
WHAT IS THIS. (this is serious and like a joke)

Daily Lives of my Countryside
A boy back to his countryside to continue his study. Let’s follow him to enjoy beautiful rural life.
Daily Lives of my Countryside
Daily Lives of my Countryside

Daily Lives of my Countryside
Daily Lives of my Countryside

Contents
Join in [ ]
You join the CountryLife game by clicking the «Go to Application» link on the Application’s Facebook page or by clicking one of the invitations you may see on a friend’s newsfeed.
Main screen [ ]
Hover the cursor anywhere within the ranch or over the icons to see an informative popup about what you see or what you may do there.
Toolbox [ ]
Below the «view» icons is a toolbox with icons for the barn and the store and other places you need to visit frequently.
Coins and Ranch Cash for purchases [ ]
You have coins to buy seeds with, and various activities earn coins and/or experience points to take you to the next level, unlocking more types of activity. You can earn more coins by working on your neighbors’ farms: farms belonging to Facebook Friends who have agreed to be your neighbors. You get a few more coins at each level and (if you’re there) in the daily lottery.
Ranch Cash is a rarer kind of currency, optional or even essential for some purchases, and gained sparingly as a reward for advancing to another level.
Production [ ]
Unlike some games of its type, CountryLife starts beginners off with a productive ranch:
You can sell the clover, for a profit of 5 coins per batch, but it earns another 5 coins if you feed it to the cow, and the resulting milk can be further processed eventually, into cheese, for example, which sells at 32.
Similarly, wheat can be sold, but a sheep (which someone can gift you) turns it into wool for a profit, and eventually you will be able to buy a Dutch Mill and a baker (a machine, not a person) to add more value.
Neighbors [ ]
Visit your neighbors once a day to earn some more coins and experience points.
Expansion [ ]
Spend spare coins on plowing new fields (at 15 coins each), but study future options so as to leave appropriate amounts of grass for adding trees and other things that have varying space requirements. Plow spare grass for production unless you expect something else in the next day or two. Fields can be restored to grass (with no compensation) with the » Sell Tool «.
Country Life vs City Life
Posted by StrongMove on June 11th, 2019 | Comments Off on Country Life vs City Life
Last Update: 31.03.2022
The debate might be archaic, but a consensus will never be achieved. People have different preferences and are free to choose where to live. Everyone has their truth and can stick to it.
If you cannot decide whether to live in a city or a village, this article offers you an unbiased opinion on the topic.
It contains a comparison between the two, the pros and cons of each, so you can learn the differences and maybe decide where to move.
*For the sake of illustrating the city with all its good and bad sites, we’ll use London as an example.
A BBC article published recently talked about a statistic of young people moving to the big cities, London in particular, and older people leaving the big cities searching for peace and quiet, and most of all practicality.
As many asked, people said that the city is great for when you’re twenty, but when you start thinking about having a family, it’s just not that practical to stay there. House prices are crazy, and childcare is expensive. It’s hard to apply anywhere and be accepted because too many people are applying for child care, schools, etc.
To be fair, young people move to the large cities and the capital mostly for university and because of the abundance of work opportunities. Country life does not offer that to the young souls looking for career growth and adventures. On the other hand, the city doesn’t offer the space and tranquillity that the countryside offers to a young family with young children. An article in the Guardian shares several personal stories of people who love London and still decided it’s better to move to the countryside and loved their new life there.
What you can afford in the city for a certain amount of money will be approximately two or even three times smaller than what you can afford in the countryside for the same amount of money.
Living in a City
The big city offers a lot more amenities than you could ever find in the country. It’s no secret that large cities, London especially, are more developed and offer a wide range of possibilities and cultural experiences that the countryside does not have.
Advantages of City Living
The two main reasons for people to move to the cities are higher education and work:
The endless possibilities of city living attract college-aged people from smaller cities or the countryside and people from other countries. London, for example, is the city with the most cultural and religious diversity in the world. People from all over the world have moved to London in search of a better life, better work, better education. City dwellers have far more career and job opportunities, but the market is fierce. The upside to jobs from home or in-town is that they are often well paid, and people are likely to find a good match with your current skills.
Public transport:
Amenities :
Disadvantages of City Life
Overcrowded:
Probably the biggest disadvantage of the big cities. Traffic jams on main streets and boulevards. And while this is a precondition for many diverse acquaintances, often people say they feel more alone.
The busy lifestyle:
Expensive lifestyle:
Everything is expensive in the big cities. There’s no second opinion about that—house prices, rents, restaurants, shops, transportation, taxes, clothes, food, etc.
However, because it’s a competitive field with so many options in cities, many businesses offer discounts and make regular sales to attract customers so that people can take advantage of that.
Life in the Country
To city dwellers and lovers, country living may sound tedious at first. However, once the avid city lovers decide to settle down and start a family, the practicality becomes heavier than their love for city life. Of course, it’s all up to personal choice. However, there are proven benefits of living in the countryside.
Advantages of Living in the Country
Tranquillity:
Not only is it quieter there because there are no vehicles, crowds or city noises, but also life is at a much slower and calmer pace than in the city. Another benefit is the significantly lower pollution levels. Community places such as small markets in the rural environment very often are within walking distance. This allows you to ride a bike or walk any place you want. The fresh air and beautiful scenery are perfect for relieving stress and enjoying a much healthier life. Most, if not all, of the people leaving the big cities for the peace and quietness of the country have said that there is a massive difference in the community feeling. While such is missing in the city, it’s strong and omnipresent in the country.
More affordable:
As we said earlier, you can afford a house in the country for the price of a tiny flat in London. Houses in the countryside can be an excellent value with council taxes tending to be lower. In addition to the lower cost of country living, you people also get the opportunity to make some improvements to their property and its surroundings.
Home Garden:
Now more than ever, people are seeking to move out of the city to grow their own gardens. Whether it’s for BBQs, a safe place for kids to play, or a way to grow your own vegetables, urbanites are seeking out places where they can enjoy the outdoors in their backyards.
The Communities:
In the country, it’s much easier to create a friendly and supportive community. This is something that people in the cities often miss.
Disadvantages of Country Living
Lack of career possibilities:
If you have or want a job in the city but prefer to live outside of the urban scenery, you should brace yourself for long, long commutes to work. You might need twice the time to get to work than if you lived in the city.
Transportation is scarce in most areas:
Public transport is far less efficient. Aside from the long commute to and from work, you will be pretty much obligated to buy a car. Something which many people preferring the city living doesn’t buy because it’s pointless and expensive.
Country life can be less fun:
There are fewer restaurants and shops, if any, and fewer entertainment options like a movie theatres, museums, galleries, and clubs that the urban areas provide.
Power failures:
It may be that your village experiences power failures during the winter. If this happens, keep in mind that it may be days before the electricity is restored. Household appliances, TV and heating may not be available. Connectivity is vital to many people who work from home these days. Without online access, one would be unable to work remotely or take stock of developments in the outside world via social media.
House Prices in the City vs Country
The biggest and most important expense in life is buying a home. Prices vary greatly depending on location, condition, type and size, and amenities near the property.
The official UK gov. site says that “In England, the January data shows, on average, house prices have risen by 0.4% since December 2021. The annual price rise of 9.6% takes the average property value to £273,762.”
By region, the statistics look like this:
Region | Average price January 2022 | Annual change % since January 2021 | Monthly change % since December 2021 |
---|---|---|---|
East Midlands | £235,503 | 11.6 | 1.8 |
East of England | £341,629 | 11.5 | 1.4 |
London | £510,102 | 2.2 | -1.8 |
North East | £150,787 | 8.3 | 1.7 |
North West | £199,791 | 9.6 | -0.3 |
South East | £378,311 | 11.1 | 0.5 |
South West | £307,468 | 10.9 | -1.1 |
West Midlands | £235,809 | 10.3 | -0.1 |
Yorkshire and the Humber | £194,525 | 7.3 | -0.2 |
And by property type, it looks like this:
Property type | January 2022 | January 2021 | Difference % |
---|---|---|---|
Detached | £459,987 | £409,299 | 12.4 |
Semi-detached | £278,310 | £252,171 | 10.4 |
Terraced | £236,083 | £217,353 | 8.6 |
Flat/maisonette | £243,827 | £233,302 | 4.5 |
All | £291,560 | £266,588 | 9.4 |
With the prices in London being higher than the average prices for the country. You can read more about moving to London costs, pros and cons.

1. Text «The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse» (текст на английском языке из учебника английского языка, 5 год изучения.
Words for the text:
Once upon a time, there was a little brown mouse. He lived in a small cottage in the country. He was very happy there. His cottage was very warm and comfortable with lots of flowers in front of it and a few apple trees behind. He even had a bathroom and a toilet in the cottage, and there was a fireplace downstairs. In his living room the brown country mouse ate good fresh food. One day his cousin from town came to visit him. He was a smart grey mouse, who lived in a large town house. The country mouse was very glad to see his cousin. «It is so nice to see you,» — he said. «Come in. Sit down! Let’s have supper!»
The grey town mouse went into the living room and the brown country mouse to the kitchen to cook supper. Soon he brought in some bread, bacon and corn for supper and they drunk fresh clean water. After supper they sat and talked. «My friend!» — said the town mouse. «How can you live here? Country is so quiet! Your life is not interesting. And I’m sorry, but I don’t like the food very much. Come and stay with me!»
So next morning the mice went to town by car. The town mouse’s house was beautiful, but he didn’t use the key to open the front door. They got into the house by going under the back door. They were very hungry, so the town mouse took his cousin to the dining room. There was a lot of food on the table. «Look at that! — said the town mouse. The mice jumped onto the armchair and then onto the table. They began to eat some fine French cheese, some very tasty cakes and biscuits. They drunk lemonade and milk. Suddely they heard something in the hall of the flat. The door opened and the man walked in. He came to the table to get some fruit. «Be quiet! — whispered the town mouse.
The man took an apple and went out of the room. The town mouse began to eat again, but the country mouse couldn’t eat anything because he felt so afraid. Suddenly he saw a big cat near the sofa in the corner of the room. The cat was large. It was sleeping, but then it heard something. It opened its eyes and saw the mice. The country mouse began to cry: «Help, help! A cat.» The cat looked up and jumped onto the table. It tried to catch the mice.
The mice ran into a hole in the floor. The cat couldn’t get in. «Oh, dear! — said the country mouse. «Your food is good, but your life is not. I feel afraid in this beautiful house. I feel afraid upstairs and downstairs, I feel afraid in the living room and in the bedroom, I feel afraid on the sofa and on the floor.» The country mouse didn’t like the town. The next morning he said to his cousin: «Goodbye! I’m going back to the country. Life is quieter there, but it is safe!»
2. City and Country Life
Ben lives in Oxford, a famous town in England. He thinks life in the city is fantastic. There are always places to visit and lots of thins to do. Ben likes visiting musuems and going to the cinema or to the theatre. He loves eating out too. He is crazy about Mexicam food and often goes to a Mexican restaurant with his parents. One thing he dosn’t like about the city is the traffic. There lots of cars and buses in Oxford and it is sometimes difficult to move around in the streets.
Ben’s best friend Susan lives in a village near Oxford. She likes living in the country because there is no traffic and people can work outdoors. There air is healthy because there are a lot of trees around. Susan likes to go to the forest and to the river, which is not far from her place. She likes swimming and bathing in the river.
When they visit each other, they talk about things they did and share their opinions about city and country life. It is always fun.

What Do You Usually Do in the Countryside?
The routine you set yourself in the countryside is very closely connected to the amount to which you will actually enjoy country life. To some, the routine may involve waking up early for a jog or ride through the countryside before work.
Others might spend their days tending to the farm animals or even taking up a hobby like painting.
Table of Contents
My Daily Routine in the Countryside
I like to rise with the light. Therefore, I’m usually up at 5 or 6 in the morning in the summertime. I make sure I have had a nap while the sun is still waking up and I’m showering, then I head out for my morning routine.
As the day breaks in, so do I break into the day slowly. I spend the first hour or two having a light breakfast, browsing the internet, catching up with a bit of news, and often listening to music or studying.
Sometimes I’ll go for an early morning walk or do some fitness training in virtual reality if feeling motivated. I like to do shadow boxing and other conditioning exercises in VR in the morning.
After breakfast, I settle into my writing routine. I write at least one article per day, which takes me 3 to 4 hours to do properly. Therefore, I can generally predict the amount of time I will spend in my office throughout the day.
In the late morning, my partner and I will typically go to our local woodland in the Exmoor national park and do a walk. For us, walking alongside the river is a tremendous pleasure and privilege when living in a rural area like this. Afterward, we usually do some light shopping to get fresh groceries, for our house is not adjacent to any stores.
We go to the local village or our local small town to stock up on groceries and some fresh produce (shopping locally means supporting the local rural community) and then head back home to prepare a meal. This is one of our favorite parts of the day, where we get to relax and enjoy our work from the morning.
After lunch, I often take a nap. There you go, that’s an honest confession! But, in truth, I’m not ashamed. I recommend this pastime to anyone. These naps are perfect for your health as well as your mind and creativity.
In the second half of the day, I will generally do research, work on developing my online business, and look for topics associated with my writing. Of course, I like to spend some time on social media and blogging platforms as well. Unfortunately, job opportunities are limited in the countryside. Therefore I feel grateful to have my own business.
At around 5 or 6 o’clock in the afternoon, we will start cooking our main course for dinner. After that, we usually have dinner early in the evening, around 7 p.m. After which, we usually settle in to watch a movie or series on Netflix or Amazon Prime, or we’ll sit down with a book and have some quiet time together.
I’m a believer in the early nights, so I usually head to bed around about 10:30 in the evening. However, knowing that tomorrow will be another full day is very pleasing to me.
Relax!
The countryside is a beautiful opportunity to engage in slow living, compared to city life.
The ability to slow down and be present with nature is truly profound. You will find that you can spend less time doing busy work when rural living and more time relaxing in the company of nature.
Doing so will significantly increase the amount of energy that you have available for your daily activities.
By adapting yourself to the pace of nature and observing it all around you, you do your body and mind an excellent service, both physically and mentally, and spiritually. When you do this, you will see those little things like the sound of the birds chirping and the gentle breeze brushing past your skin are genuinely delightful.
The stress melts away, and for a while, at least, you can fully find yourself and enjoy your surroundings. The most important thing to remember is that there is no such thing as overdoing this.
You learn to appreciate small things in rural places, whether it’s a flower, a relaxing walk in the countryside, a simple hike through some trees, or other outdoor activities.
True enjoyment comes from slowing down and taking it all in as you go. The more you do this, the more enjoyable life in rural parts becomes for you.
The gentle ambiance of the countryside becomes the music of the day, and you’ll find yourself listening to it actively.
You can also eat better than usual because the food is fresh and you’re not stressed about having it on time, as can the case in city living.
Country Pubs
In normal times, going to a country pub at the weekend for lunch or enjoying the quiet pint in the evening is a tremendous pleasure in rural life. There is no better place to relax and unwind after a busy (relatively speaking!) week.
Country pubs are the “people places.” There is no such thing as an over-served pub; everything is done with care and attention given to each individual.
Part of the enjoyment is the continuation of very long traditions. So many of the pubs have history is going back 100 years or more. And some are very old indeed.
There is an amicable and social spirit in the country pubs. This is because, to enjoy the authentic atmosphere, you have got to be willing to talk to people you do not know.
Country Walks
Country walking takes every form, from a 10-minute stroll through the local greenery to full-on hillwalking and even mountain trekking. However, there is something exceptional about walking in the greenwood. There are many beautiful aspects of it, such as the great smell of nature, the fresh air, and exercise.
There is something about a long walk in the countryside that reduces stress levels wonderfully.
I happen to live in the area where the famous poets Samuel Coleridge come up with his friend William Wordsworth. The cottage in which he lived is about 15 minutes drive from where I live. It’s evident looking at the local landscapes why Coleridge spent so much time walking in it.
History is very much part of the area. There are many cottages close to where I live with historical records and maps from the 18th century. These are preserved in a nearby museum which is an absolute treat to visit.
It’s a fantastic mix of woodland, seascapes, hills, and vistas. There are so many things to enjoy and see that you don’t want the time to end.
I always take my iPhone with me, not to use as a phone or internet device, but as the best portable camera. Along the way, while walking, I will usually document scenes that strike my eye and mind and particularly memorable or beautiful moments.
Sometimes I will take pictures of farms, hedgerows, and cattle. I love to capture these little things, as it adds another dimension to what you see when looking at your photographs later on.
In this way, my photo album becomes my walking diary and map – because every photo is tagged with metadata so that I know the precise location later on. In this way, I can recreate my walks.
The health benefits of countryside walking are huge, of course. Your mood improves, blood pressure and heart rate go down, and everything is breathed in, and you are generally better for it. Effectively, there is zero air pollution and significantly reduced respiratory diseases.
A faster pace of walking will make you sweat and cause your heart rate to go up. This is good, as it means that you are burning calories while you’re out walking.
Archery
My local archery club shoots next to a local village – a truly wonderful place. It’s on a tiny practice field with the clubhouse immediately adjacent to it.
I’m a member of the club and have been practicing archery since I was a teenager. There is something extraordinary about the sport, which I cannot easily capture in words.
Once a week, I drive the 10-minutes over to the archery field, and we shoot for a couple of hours.
Although I shot competition archery in the past, nothing too competitive, I shoot now for the sheer enjoyment of the sport and the exercise.
All of this is set within a beautiful little community, and there’s something wonderfully social about it. There are many friendly people in the club, and we all get on very well together.
Sometimes, in this area, the weather can turn sharply. But that’s all part of the fun!
Check Out the Local Beauty Spots
One of the great pleasures in the countryside is to discover and visit local beauty spots. For me, it’s definitely part of having a rural lifestyle.
I will often check out an area in virtual reality before we actually go to visit it.
I like to know about the history of the places we visit and research the locations before we go there.
In the summertime, it’s fun and cheaper to take a picnic with you.
Visit the Coast
If lucky enough to live near the coast, like us, exploring the local beaches and coves is a great way to go. Later this summer, we plan to go down to some of the beaches on the North Devon Coast.
Wild swimming is one of the best things you can do in the countryside. But, of course, sea swimming is equally enjoyable. Just make sure that you check out whether the beach is safe to swim in.
And whether there are any riptides or anything like that.
Have a Lazy Day In
Sometimes there is no better way to spend a weekend day in the countryside than to have a lazy day in.
Today, for example, it was raining most of the day, so we relaxed watching a series on Netflix.
I find it very relaxing and meditative to read while the rain beats against the window.
Invite Friends to Drop by or Stay Over
One of the advantages of living in the countryside compared to an urban area is that you have more space for friends and guests.
We enjoy thinking about and planning the visits of friends from other parts of the UK.
It’s fun to think about the various activities that we can do when they visit. Including the pubs that we will see!
Gardening
We have a small garden, therefore doing some gardening is a necessity. Once we approach the summer, the grass starts to really shoot up. Meaning out comes the mower!
Although I would not claim to have the greenest fingers in the world, I get stuck into some weeding. Plus, the hedge normally needs a trim!
Around here, we tend to let hedges grow a bit wilder to allow the local wildlife more space.
Foraging
It’s a great pleasure to forage in nature. So, along the walks, if I spot blackberries, then I will gather a few. Usually, after eating several!
Exmoor Ponies
Here in Exmoor, we have the world-famous Exmoor ponies. These are wild horses, reputed to be the oldest breed in the world. So there is some debate about that.
And so part of the fun is keeping an eye out for them on longer drives. Then, when we see them, we pull over and take a few photos and admire their beauty in the landscape.
Appreciate the Season and How It Plays on the Landscape
In the countryside, you get a much closer connection to the seasons. It’s not only the seasons’ direct impact on you, whether cold, rain, or sun.
It’s the way that the seasons play on the landscape all around you.
Stargazing
We are lucky enough to live in an area of Dark Sky. So when the sky is clear, the stars really are visible in the sky.
I bought a spotting scope for archery, birdwatching, and observing the moon when it is clear.
It’s well worth learning about the constellations if you live in a rural setting.
For my money, stargazing reminds me that we are creatures of the Universe, not just of one Planet.
What are the advantages of living in the countryside?
The main advantages of living in a rural region are significantly reduced stress, a strong connection with nature, and an overall very healthy lifestyle.
What kind of people should live in the countryside?
People who know or feel that they can enjoy a slower pace of life while also living a more fulfilling life should live in the countryside. Especially if you don’t need the employment opportunities of the big city.
How has life changed over time in the countryside?
One of the great things about the countryside is that life does not change too much over time. Memories of going up in the British countryside in Lancashire and Somerset more than 40 years ago do not differ too much from the experience of living in the country now.
What do you like about the place where you live?
What I love about the place in which we now live in the tremendous variety of nature. And landscapes. We are genuinely privileged to be able to enjoy some of the most beautiful Woodlands, seascapes, and hills in the entire UK. All on our doorstep.

My daily routine»
«My daily routine»-
Some people call their life a ground-hug day; others think it is what stability is supposed to be. Anyway, it is all about our daily routine. It is difficult to define it as a good or a bad thing, as it is a part of our life and we should just accept it.
As all other people I have a daily routine. It may differ from other people’s routine but it is still a routine. My daily routine consists of waking up at a certain time, having breakfast, walking to the university and many other everyday “rites”. Even the fact that I always listen to music on my way to and from the university can be called a routine.
However, my routine is not always the same. It may change depending on the period of the year and the place where I stay in. Nevertheless, daily routine always plays its usual role rarely giving place to something new and unusal.
Frankly speaking, I do love my daily routine. I feel more confident and balanced. It goes without saying, I do not do exactly the same things every single day and at the same time. However, I have some responsibilites, chores and hobbies I usually do and they fill my life with harmony.
Moreover, the shifts from stable and unstable periods make us value life in all of its aspects. That’s why I believe we should not complain about the things we have to do every day, such as work. It is better to enjoy everything in our life.
Ground-hug day – день сурка
Daily routine –
To accept – принимать, соглашаться
To give place to – уступать место чему-то
Shift –
To complain about – жаловаться на что-то

All About the Countryside – The Pros and Cons of Living Rural
*If you are interested in starting a blog yourself, be sure to join my Facebook page, Blogging for the ordinary, but fearlessly awesome person. It’s a place you can ask questions and learn a ton about blogging!
When you think about living in the country, you think peaceful and serene. You picture being surrounded by nature without a care in the world. But, is it really all it’s cracked up to be? Today I’m going to be talking all about the countryside, and the pros and cons of living rural.
I’ve lived in all kinds of environments – cities, small towns, and in the country. There really are perks with each, however my favorite place to live is in the country. Given my blog name, I’m sure that’s no surprise to you!
But, living in the country isn’t all roses and sunshine every single moment. There are some days that are hard. There are some days that I know would be easier if I lived closer to amenities.
Thankfully, the pros outweigh the cons to me in country living. But honestly, it’s really personal preference and what’s important to you when it comes to the best place you and your family should live. Let’s dive into the good AND the bad about the countryside.
ALL ABOUT THE COUNTRYSIDE
This post contains affiliate links. See our full disclosure policy HERE.
PROS ABOUT LIVING IN THE COUNTRY
It’s quiet and peaceful.
Some people love the buzz of the city. Me? I love to sit out in my backyard and hear absolutely nothing but the birds or the wind swaying through the trees.
If you love a quiet environment, the country is a perfect place to live. No sound of constant traffic and there isn’t people everywhere. You don’t often hear sirens or construction.
When I need to be alone with my thoughts, when my heart feels heavy because the news is all bad, I go outside and take in a sunset in utter quiet, or I walk down my road and soak in all that is around me in the peaceful moment.
For my heart, the quiet and peacefulness is perfect.
It gives you many outdoor opportunities.
Country properties make it easy to do things outdoors like have bonfires, start a garden, raise some animals, go atving, and more! There is no limit to all the things you can do in the country!
Even if you don’t have the means to do everything you want on your property, often you can find it close by. If you live in the country you may be closer to a lake for fishing, boating, or swimming. Or you may live close to trails to go hiking and exploring. There’s definitely plenty to do in the country that you won’t find yourself bored!
You might save money.
When I lived in the city there wasn’t much we could do that was free. We often spent weekends shopping, going out to eat, or going to the movie theatre. On top of that, there was the convenience of being able to hop to the store whenever we felt like it, or wanted a late night snack (and for foodies like us, that’s a serious temptation we struggled to avoid!)
When you live in the country many things you want to do, like I listed above, are free. As well, it isn’t convenient to just run to the store. You aren’t going to run to the grocery store at 9:00 at night just because you feel like a snack when it takes you 30 minutes to get there.
You learn to improvise, be prepared, and just stop spending as much money as when you had easy access to the stores.
Also, you may save money on housing as it is often cheaper in the country if it’s further enough away from the city.
It helps you slow down your life.
Life is busy no matter where you live these days, but there’s a certain type of “slowness” in the country that isn’t as easy to attain in the city. For us we really limit extra-curriculars that the kids are involved in or even commitments we make ourselves because it takes a lot longer to drive anywhere. We moved to the country to ENJOY the country and not to spend all our time driving around.
There’s a different kind of culture.
One of my favorite things I loved when we moved to the country is the way people loved to invite others over for a meal, or our church did the good ole’ fashioned potlucks. In fact, since moving to the country I have only went out to eat at a restaurant a few times (and we’ve been here three years!) Of course, our family goes out to eat because we enjoy it, but the culture out in the country is more of inviting someone into your home to share a meal instead of going out to the restaurants. Let’s not forget how this saves you cash as well. 🙂
It’s an introvert’s dream
If you are an introvert the country can be a dream for you. I once was an extrovert but over the years changed into an introvert and I have to say, I very much enjoy being alone. I do enjoy hanging out with my friends, but I am pretty content to be alone too. Living in the country gives me more time to be on my own (of course, when I say on my own, I mean with my three kids, cause, when you are a mom are you ever really alone?
BUT, LIKE I SAID, IT’S NOT ALL ROSES AND SUNSHINE. LET’S BE REAL HERE AND LOOK AT THE CONS OF LIVING IN THE COUNTRY.
CONS ABOUT LIVING IN THE COUNTRY
It takes more time and gas money to get anywhere.
Driving anywhere in the country seems to take time and extra gas money. Our closest stores to drive to are only 15 minutes away but they are tiny, small town stores that often don’t have what we need so we drive to the closest city which is 40 minutes away. We knew by living in the country we’d have to be okay with the long distances to go anywhere and everywhere.
When we first moved out here we only had one vehicle which meant when my husband was at work I couldn’t go anywhere, so that can be an issue too if you are a one vehicle family. We know have two vehicles and I gotta say, it’s really nice to have when you live in the country.
There’s a different culture out here.
Wait, Amanda, didn’t you just put this in the pros? Well, yes I did. But it can be a pro or a con, depending on your personality. If you love fast-paced, and enjoy hanging out in the restaurants with your friends, well, then you might not enjoy the country as much if you can’t find anyone to do those things with.
Services take longer to get out here.
When it snows our road is one of the last to see a snow plow. When the power gets knocked out our area is one of the last on the priority list. When I’m expecting a package it often gets delayed because it’s the last one on the route and didn’t make it in time, or they decide they don’t even want to come out this far and call me to arrange a pick-up instead.
Oh, and speaking of the power going out, if you have no power your toilets don’t flush. That’s fine for an hour or two, but after 30 hours of no power, things get pretty dicey. (Ask me how I know.)
We’ve learned to expect things take longer out here. It’s just the way it is.
Slow internet – need I say more?
One of the major frustrations in this day and age is slow internet in the country. Many of us use the internet for more than just pleasure. We use it for work. Our kids use it for school. And so the slow internet is no longer a minor inconvenience, it actually affects some pretty important stuff.
It can be lonely.
If you love connecting with people, then living in the country can be lonely. Heck, there can be times living in the country is lonely even for introverts who love being alone. You definitely have to make a bigger effort to connect with others when you live in the country.
IS THE COUNTRYSIDE RIGHT FOR YOU?
Now that we’ve talked all about the countryside, the pros and cons, the question is – is it right for you? Well, only you can answer that. While I adore the country and plan to live out here as long as I am physically able, I have friends who would just never be happy living in the country, and that’s okay. We’re all different with unique personalities. It would be pretty boring if we were all the same.
I do think, however, that we need to be careful not to romanticize country living without ever considering the negatives. Every kind of life comes with some hardship and you have to decide what kind of trials you can live with.
Ultimately I believe the country is a peaceful, wonderful place and even if you can’t see yourself living there, maybe you can enjoy getting away from it all and taking a vacation in the country.
If you are seriously contemplating leaving the city and living in the country, check out this book to give you all the stuff you need to know on country living.

Some DEV like to use word uncensored as uncut. meaning add lewd stuff back to the game but still has mosaic.
Already played japan version. so if this has mosaic then there is no point to buy this. mosaic is a deal breaker.

Например, если вы говорите о себе, значит употребляйте слово «my», если о ком-то другом, то «her», «his», «their», «our» соответственно: I brush my teeth. She combs her hair.

4. My Daily Programme
My every day activities are quite routine. On weekdays the alarm clock wakes me up and my working day begins. I usually get up at 7 o’clock. If it is spring or summer I jump out of bed, run to the window and open it wide to let the fresh morning air in. I do my physical jerks, wash, clean my teeth and comb my hair. Then I have breakfast. For breakfast I usually have toasted bread, bacon and eggs, tea or coffee and some jam. While I am having breakfast, I switch on the radio and listen to the news. It takes me 10 minutes to get to school. School starts at 8 sharp and I have lessons till half past 12. I usually have six or seven lessons a day. I return home at 2 o’clock and take a short rest and I have lunch at 3. After doing my homework I go for a walk with my friends. I often play chess with them. I am a member of a chess club. Sometimes we go to the pictures or the theatre but not very often. In summer I like to get out more, so in the evenings I go to the tennis court for a few sets of tennis, or take out my bike for a run in the country. My parents usually return home at 19 o’clock. We have dinner at 19.30. As usual dinner consists of soup, fish or roast chicken, potatoes, vegetables and dessert. After dinner we go to the sitting room. There we read books, newspapers and magazines, watch TV, chat with the friends on the phone. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday I attend preparatory courses at the University. I leave home at 4.30 afternoon and come back at 8.30. At 10 o’clock I take a shower, brush my teeth and go to bed. I fall asleep fast and have no dreams.

5. My daily schedule
Our dynamic life is full of different activities, and I believe that it is very helpful when you have a scheduled daily routine because it can save your time. I am a schoolboy at present, so let me tell you some words about my daily schedule.
I am not an early bird but as a rule I have to wake up quite early, at 6.30 (six thirty, or half past six) on weekdays. I stay in my bed for 5 or 10 minutes and then I get up. I open the window to let some fresh air enter the room. My morning routine consists of making the bed, taking a shower and having breakfast. At 7 o’clock I go to the kitchen where my mother has already made breakfast for me and my dad. I prefer boiled eggs, a sandwich and a cup of tea in the morning. After breakfast I go to the bathroom again to clean my teeth and comb my hair. I get dressed next. Our school uniform is a shirt and black trousers.
At 7.30 (seven thirty, or half past seven) I leave home and go to school. It takes me about 15 minutes to get there on foot. I often surf the Internet on my phone before the lessons start at 8 a.m. I usually have 5 or 6 lessons every day, so at about 2 o’clock my school is over. We have a long break after the 4th lesson, so I can have lunch in our school canteen.
On my way home I always enjoy my walk. If I am not in a hurry, my friends and I visit a shop or a café before going home. We eat ice-cream and take funny pictures of ourselves. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I attend additional Maths courses at the university, and I also play basketball on Wednesday afternoons. When I get home I try to find some time for a little rest. I watch TV, play computer games, chat on the phone or just listen to music. At about 4 o’clock I start doing my homework. It generally takes me 2 or 3 hours to do that, though sometimes I sit with my homework till late at night.
When my parents come home from their work we usually have dinner. Then I often do the washing-up and take the rubbish out. I go to bed at about 11 p.m. I am usually so tired that I fall asleep at once.
I don’t have enough time for my hobbies during my weekdays, so they seem a bit boring probably. But I often devote my weekends to reading, doing sports and studying English. In winter I mainly go skiing or skating, and in summer I usually go roller-skating, playing football or riding a bicycle.

6. My Daily Routine
As a rule, I get up at half past six. I put on my dressing-gown, go into bathroom and turn on the bath taps. Good health is better than wealth, so I do my morning exercises. I get breakfast at seven-thirty and listen to the news over the radio.
I like to begin the day well, so my breakfast is always a good one. For breakfast I usually have hard-boiled eggs or an omelette, bread and butter, tea or coffee.
Then, I say «Good-bye» to my mother, take my school-bag and go to school. I don’t live far from my school, so it doesn’t take me long to get there. The lessons start at half past eight. Each lesson lasts for 45 minutes. The classes are over at two o’clock.
I come back home, have dinner, wash up and go shopping. I buy foodstuffs for the family. Coming back I begin to clean the house and get the vegetables ready for supper. We have supper at seven. I do my homework for the next day. It usually takes me several hours to prepare well for the lessons.
In the evening, I always try to spend at least an hour at the piano. As a rule my parents and I sit and talk, watch a film on TV, read newspapers and magazines. Sometimes, we go to the cinema or to the theatre. Once or twice a month, I visit exhibitions in my home town. I go to bed at about eleven o’clock, but my parents like to sit up late and write letters or read.

I Live in the Japanese Countryside: This Is What It’s Like
Table of Contents
Welcome to the “Inaka” (Countryside)
There’s more to Japan than just the cities. Although a hard majority of the country lives in urban areas (and over 30% of those people are in Tokyo alone!), a lot of those urban areas end up being small cities in the countryside. These are cities of 100,000 to 200,000 people, dense at the core but only several kilometers from rice farms and forested mountains. Going further out from them, you’ll find small towns and hamlets. These are communities with 50,000 or less people who all live close together in residential clusters interspersed with agriculture and thickets of trees. For a lot of people, this is Japan.
Many who come to Japan do so imagining life in Tokyo without considering these many small towns and cities. Life in these small towns is different from life in the big city, but this is often for the better, as countryside life comes with many unique advantages that many don’t realize exist. As an American English teacher working at a Japanese school in the countryside, I can talk to these benefits. Through looking at a day in my life, we can uncover many of the hidden charms the Japanese countryside has to offer.
Who Am I?
The name’s Joe, I’m an Assistant Language Teacher who works in the countryside area of a midsized prefecture in Kanto. I teach classes and assist English teachers at three prefectural high schools. My job is full-time, and for the most part, I switch between planning lessons in the teacher’s office and teaching students in the classroom. It’s a fairly relaxed job in a fairly relaxed area of the country.
How Did I End Up in The Countryside?
Like most people who come to Japan to teach English, I didn’t have much of a say in where I eventually ended up. My program allowed its participants to name their top three locations in Japan, with the heavy implication that the requests were very much secondary to the program’s priorities. Request Tokyo as much as you want, there are only so many spots in the city while there are thousands elsewhere. Personally, I didn’t put down any particular requests as I was happy to be placed anywhere in the country.
What Are The Good Things About The Countryside?
I was quite happy to be placed in the countryside. Having grown up in suburbia, I lived very close to a major metropolitan area in America. I’ve never really lived anywhere where I wasn’t surrounded by people. Ever since then though, I’ve found more and more to love about living in the countryside. Here are the things that stand out to me the most.
What Do I Like Specifically About Where I Live?
Besides the rather broad strokes above, my city is quite lovely for a number of unique reasons. I consider it an “urban-rural” area, which might seem a bit strange but it makes sense in context. My city (like a lot of Japanese countryside cities) is serviced by a main rail line. What this means is even though I live out in the countryside, I’m about a half-hour away from my prefectural capital of 200,000 people and all its urban amenities. It also means that if I pay for the express train I can visit Tokyo in less than an hour and a half. Essentially, I live where it’s quiet, but I’m not cut off from the urban world. When I want to I can easily dip my toes into both; I get to have my cake and eat it too.
Along with easy access to urban areas, I also still get most of the big city amenities. Amazon and other websites deliver next day, I have an affordable high-speed internet connection, and there’s a variety of great restaurants and shopping is within easy reach. The countryside has everything you need to live a modern life.
Finally, although my city is small, it isn’t tiny. This means that although there are not many people around, at the same time, there are still plenty of people to interact with. It’s the perfect size where I can run into people I know quite often while at the same time blend into the background when needed. The sort of population where festivals feel like both an impromptu meetup with friends and an opportunity to meet new people. Since the population is low, social networks are tight and relationships strong. Make one friend and you suddenly find yourself with an entire web of friends.
What Is My House Like?
I’ve rented two apartments since I’ve arrived in my countryside town. The first I lived in for three years, and the second for about a year and a half.
My first apartment was an older building, built in the ’70s presumably during my town’s boom-era. It didn’t show much age though. All the floors were hardwood, I didn’t have a washitsu (a Japanese room with tatami), and I had plenty of space. I had three rooms of about equal size, each being a rough square: one dedicated kitchen and dining area, one living room, and one bedroom. Attached to the kitchen I had a shower, toilet, and laundry area. On the far side, past a sliding glass door, I also had a balcony with a view over the city and room to hang my clothes. I had the living space of several single Japanese apartments combined into one for only about 50,000 yen a month. A steal, basically.
My second apartment is in a building that is about twenty years old but with a renovated interior that was, at the time I first started to rent it, less than a year old. I get a modern toilet, new hardwood floors, a built-in stovetop, and a massive balcony with two air conditioners (one for the living room and one for the bedroom.) Along with this, and unusually so for Japanese apartments, I have a ton of floor space, over 70sq meters despite it being the same layout as my previous apartment. All of this for only 60,000 yen a month is what I like to call peak countryside. It’s cheap, big, and very modern. In comparison, most city apartments at a similar price are far older and out-of-repair.
What’s My Daily Routine?
During the workweek, I switch between teaching at three different schools. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I work at my main school, located in my town. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I visit schools in other towns, a bit further away. This changes my daily routine slightly.
What Do I Do In My Free Time?
Hobbies and socializing! I enjoy collecting a variety of different hobbies, so no matter what’s going on I usually have some sort of project I’m working on. From biking to 3D printing, board games to DnD, camping to Japanese archery, there’s always something to do! During the work week, for the most part, I tend to go home and relax/do hobbies. Usually once or twice during the work week I’ll visit friends, either to grab dinner at our favorite local curry place or to go to one of our apartments. The weekend on the other hand is for hanging out, whether or not it’s a camping trip in the woods, a board game session at a cafe, or a cooking party, I spend it doing shared hobbies with friends. Being on a train-line means most everyone is in easy reach and getting people together is never a problem.
Who Do I Spend My Free Time With?
Friends, almost always. Making friends of course comes different to everyone, but it’s almost always a matter or just meeting people who introduce you to more people. Most people who come over to Japan will do so through a program or a company which already sets you up with a decently sized social circle. They’re the easiest to reach out to and hang out with. Beyond them, it’s a matter of getting involved in your community. Go to festivals, do events, sign up with the community center. In my second year, I taught a cooking class on traditional Jewish food. Through just that one event I can trace meeting a majority of my current Japanese friends. The rest came from visiting local restaurants/bars, the local Japanese class, and work.
Conclusion
Living in the countryside is great. From the Kanto plain to nestled mountain villages, life in the countryside is quiet, relaxing, and modern. Compared to urban life, living in the countryside nets you all the benefits of modern life with very little of the cost associated with cities. You also get fresher food, cleaner air, closer relationships, and the greenery and quiet required to understand it all. Living in the countryside in Japan isn’t just an experience, it is the experience.

My daily routine — Рассказ 1We all have our own daily routine. I want to talk about my typical day. Every morning I get up at 7 o’clock and make my bed. Then I go to the bathroom where I wash my face, have a cool shower and brush my long hair. My brother has short hair so he combs his hair. Then I do some exercises to feel great all day. I usually watch music clips on TV while I have breakfast. For breakfast, I like scrambled eggs and sandwiches with a cup of tea. Sometimes I put on some make-up. Then I take my school backpack and leave the house. My school is not far from home, so I go there on foot. Our lessons begin at 9 o’clock and finish at around two or a little later. My friend and I love to chat a bit before going home. When I come home, I walk and feed my dog at first. Then I have lunch and rest for a while. I like reading books about teenagers, especially fantasy books. After that, I do my homework, tidy up the room, and go for a walk with friends. In the evening I like playing computer games. I also check emails, chat with friends, surf the internet or watch a movie. My daily routine — Рассказ 2On weekdays, I usually get up at 6:30. I like to get up early to do my jogging in the park, so I get my pyjamas off and put on my sportswear. There is a very beautiful and quiet park not far from my home and I go jogging there every day, even on weekends. Then I go back home and have a shower. Then I get dressed and go to the kitchen for breakfast. My mother usually cooks breakfast, but sometimes I do it myself. I prefer a large cup of coffee and a sandwich, but my mother often cooks porridge. She believes that the porridge is the most healthy and useful breakfast for the whole day. Then I shine my shoes and call my friend who lives next door and we go to school together. The school is quite close to our house. Lessons start at 9 o’clock and finish at two or three, it depends on the schedule. Then I come home and have lunch. After lunch, I have a little rest and then I start doing my homework. Usually, the homework takes me two hours. If mom asks me, I take the rubbish out or go grocery shopping for supper or do another simple daily routine. Then I go for a walk with my friend and his dog. We go to the park and throw a ball, and the dog brings it back to us. My daily routine — Рассказ 3Every day I usually do the same things such as going to school, tidying up the flat, preparing food, washing clothes and do some other daily routines. In the morning at 7 o’clock, the alarm wakes me up and I go to the bathroom. I have a shower, brush my teeth, then dry my hair. Then I make my bed and put on my school uniform. Usually, at this time I listen to my favourite music. After school, I go home, have lunch and rest for a while. We always have a lot of homework, so I try to do it faster. As a rule, it takes me about two hours to finish my homework. Sometimes I do some housework such as vacuuming, sweeping, washing, or hanging the clothes out to dry. Fortunately, nowadays we have many modern appliances that help us do our daily routine. My parents return home at about seven o’clock. We always have supper together. We share all the news and I tell about the school and my friends. In my house, I usually do the dishes after supper. Three times a week I go to the swimming pool. When I do not go to the swimming pool, I stay at home and play my favourite computer games or read books. In the evening I usually go for a walk with friends. At eleven o’clock I go to bed and usually fall asleep very quickly. My daily routineI would like to start by saying that all my days from Monday to Friday are very much alike. That’s what we call “daily routine” when the same things are repeated from day to day. In the morningI usually get up at 7 o’clock in the morning and that’s quite early for me. Then I make my bed, wash my face, brush my teeth, get dressed and put pens, pencils and textbooks into the bag. After that I go to the kitchen to have breakfast which is usually prepared by my mom. She makes a lot of everything but I prefer something light, just a cup of tea and a sandwich. In the afternoonThen I go to school, where I spend half of the day. However, I should notice that I really enjoy this time, getting knowledge and meeting my friends. I come back home at two or three o’clock and always have a substantial meal for dinner as I’m extremely hungry after school. In the eveningAfter eating, I rest for about an hour listening to music, watching TV or just lying on the bed with my eyes closed. Then I do my homework for the next school day. My choresI have my chores in the house. In the evening I usually sweep the floors, clean the dust and sometimes clean the carpet with the vacuum-cleaner. I can’t say I’m excited about this work nevertheless I simply have to do it. Free timeWhen I finally have some free time I go for a walk with my friends or just stay at home and play my favourite computer game. At nightMy day habitually ends at ten or eleven o’clock. This is the time when I go to bed in order to get up and start everything again the next morning. My Everyday Life / Моя повседневная жизньPart oneOn week-days I get up at seven o’clock. The alarm-clock wakes me up every morning. I cannot say that I like its ringing. Then, though sleepy, I do my morning exercises and in a few minutes I feel bright and cheerful. After that I am ready for other activities: I take a cold shower, wash and dress, and prepare my breakfast. I have to do it myself because when I get up, my wife isn’t in: she has to take our children to the kindergarten. So I have breakfast alone. My everyday breakfast is the same: some cabbage salad, two soft-boiled eggs and a cup of strong coffee with cheese sandwiches. I don’t like coffee with milk, so 1 have it black. It takes me fifteen minutes to have my breakfast. At 7.45 I leave my home and go to the office. I get to the office by bus which is always overcrowded. It affects my spirits badly. But when I come to my office and see my colleagues, I feel happy. All my days in the office do not vary greatly, so to have an idea of my business life Г11 tell you about my yesterday’s working day. Part twoAs usual, it began at nine o’clock with some formalities. I was responsible for the test our laboratory made. So I prepared and checked up thepapers for it. It took me about an hour. At ten o’clock we began the test. Twelve people were busy in it. At one o’clock we had a break for dinner. It lasted forty-five minutes. During the break we went downstairs to have dinner in the canteen.. Then my friends and I had a smoke, discussed yesterday’s news and after the break we went on with our test. The test results were excellent. I wrote them down and handed the report to our chief. At five o’clock I got in touch with some specialists of the Research Institute by telephone and informed them of the test results. At 5.45 p.m. my working day was over. On my way home I did shopping. My wife was glad to see me with my hands full of foodstuffs. That was yesterday. Part threeBut now I am in my office. My working day will be over in half an hour. What shall I do in the evening? I’ll come back home at seven o’clock. As usual, I’ll greet my wife and children; we’ll exchange news and then at about eight o’clock we’ll have supper together. I’ll help my wife to lay the table. After supper, though 1 don’t like it, I’ll wash up. It is my duty. At nine, as always, I am going to watch the TV news programme. Then a feature film will be on and my wife will join me by all means. Besides, I’ll answer some telephone calls and ring somebody up myself. At half past eleven I’ll go to bed, and the next morning the alarm-clock will wake me up very early. My son does well at school and his teacher is never cross with him. He is busy at school till 3 o’clock. Sometimes he stays after classes to have some extra lessons. He has a lot of friends and they often go to the sports ground to do sport. My son’s favourite subject is English and I am proud of his good marks. I always tell him how important nowadays to know English well. I try to do my best and he seems to understand. In the evening we meet at the dinner, we talk and share our news. After dinner he plays computer games or watches his favourite sports programme. Sometimes my wife asks him to help her about the house or take out our dog. He always gives her a hand. When she makes her bed and gets dressed, she joins us at the kitchen table. She is a little slow and my wife sometimes tells her to eat quickly. When she finishes, she kisses her mother, takes her school bag and is ready to go. She kisses us goodbye and leaves home for school at about 8 o’clock. Her school is not far from our house and she usually goes on foot. She doesn’t like school and doesn’t do well at school either (тоже). Her favourite subject is Music. So, she puts on headphones and listens to music at the lessons too. Her teachers are cross with her. When she comes home from school, she is always very tired and in a bad mood. She does her lessons very quickly. She can’t concentrate on the work and seems to think about something else. When she finishes her lessons, she plays the guitar or listens to music. When I come home from work early, I always have a talk with her about her school progress. Sometimes it helps. She goes to bed at 12 o’clock. Problems of Сity and Сountry LifeProblems of Сity and Сountry LifeRead and speak about the advantages and disadvantages of city life and country lifeWhere would you prefer to live in the city or in the country? If I could choose where to live I would have the best of both places as each of them has its own advantages to say nothing of disadvantages. What are the advantages of living in the modern city?Life in the city is much easier than in the country – developed transport system, sewerage system, information, sports, shopping malls, etc. Modern men are too sophisticated for simple country pleasures. There is far more entertainment in the city than in the country. Cities offer high concentration of good things in life: big stores, restaurants, theatres, cinemas, art galleries. Life is more convenient in a city: services are always better here. In the city people are more open-minded. It is possible to go out, make friends and never be cut off from them by weather conditions. Generally, people do not mind what you do in the city. In the city people have more chances to be employed, as the range of jobs is greater than in a village. Besides in the city people have more chances to succeed. Moreover, life is never dull in the city, people always have something to do here. The objections to city living are not convincing enough. People easily adapt to various inconveniences of city life. For example, noise and traffic are hardly noticeable to city-dwellers. In the city especially in our country people live in apartments with central heating, telephone, gas, electricity, radio, TV and the Internet. Most people love cities. In 330 BC Aristotle wrote that by nature man belonged to a city. Many people love the busy city life. It is enough for them to visit a country at weekends. What brought about the growth of cities over the centuries?Cities grew over the centuries because they served aims that could not have been served otherwise. Two thousand years ago most people lived in the countryside. It was not their choice. Today, almost half of humanity lives in cities. It does so because it wants to. Man has always lived in groups. It makes life safer and easier. Geography – rich soil, a safe harbour or navigable river, ample fresh water, easy defence, coal – was the start of many towns. In Europe towns grew over the strongholds of a local lord. Most of them developed as buying and selling centres; trade needed a market, and markets needed people. How did towns serve their inhabitants?Towns served their citizens very well if they in turn were served by them. During the Middle Ages when harvest failed, the nearby town offered hope of survival. All successful towns satisfied economic needs. For a peasant town was the only place where he might make a fortune. In the new industrial order, the city was the nerve centre, brining to a focus all dynamic economic forces: vast accumulation of capital, business and financial institutions, spreading railroad yards, factories, and armies of manual and clerical workers. For example, in the USA villages, attracting people from the countryside and from the land across the seas, grew into towns and towns into cities almost overnight. Are there any disadvantages of living in the city?Pollution is the greatest disadvantage of the city life of today. Polluted air is hanging like a brown cloud over cities. Dirt and smoke are pouring from the buildings of cites and factories. Polluted urban air causes respiratory distress, particularly in children, and elderly people. The increased number of motor vehicles not only jam the city streets but pollute the city air as well. Cars give a collection of pollutants. In bright, calm weather, sunlight turns the chemicals into a poison smog. All big cities have problems with air pollution. There was still nothing anywhere like “killer-smog” which caused some 3000-4000 deaths in London in December 1952. Mexico city’s air is famously filthy, as is that of many Indian, Chinese, and East European cities. The exceeding output of industries and urban communities is harmful to the city aquatic systems. The result is a foul-smelling body of water running for a bath or dish washing. Noise pollution is the problem of big cities too. Urban garbage – like food, paper, and cans – on the ground or in the street is one more problem of cities. People don’t always put their garbage in the garbage can. Urban garbage is ugly. It makes the city look dirty, and it spoils the view. What are other disadvantages of living in a big city? There are lots of other disadvantages of living in a big city. Today’s cities are ballooning. Bombay in 1960 was a jam-packed city of 4m people. Now Mexico city holds around 18m people. “The rush-hour” with crowded streets, packed trains, full buses that happens twice a day is one of them. Cost of living is very high in the cities. In addition, people live under constant threat; life is not quiet in the cities, it causes stresses and heart disease. In the city people lose touch with land, rhythms of nature. Everyone who cares about his health tries to move out from the city. Cities are not fit to live in, man are born for countryside. Most people in Europe and America try to live in non-industrial cities, which are set down near big cities and can not be killed by pollution and traffic. Do you like to stay in the countryside?Yes, I do. I like to stay in the countryside. Why do you like to stay in the countryside?Well, in the countryside I enjoy such simple things of primary importance as sunlight and fresh air. Besides, living in the countryside is cheaper and safer than in a city. It provides people with more security. There is less crime and, of course, there is less traffic there. Life in the countryside is quiet, peaceful, and healthy. I like to be close to nature. Here people are friendly and it is much more pleasant in the countryside than in the city. Unfortunately, life in the countryside is rather hard. Working and living conditions are difficult, social and cultural life in the countryside is not full of entertainment. And annually more and more young people flee from the countryside for a better life in the city. Is it difficult to find a job in the countryside?Certainly, the problem of employment in the countryside is very crucial today. It is especially acute for the young people and professionals. As a rule there are few labour places for skilled agricultural workers and less for professionals. Although villages do need teachers and physicians, they can not provide them with the necessary facilities. There are few schools and clinics in the countryside. Sometimes there is one secondary school for several villages and children have to walk ten kilometres to study there. Usually either the village community is too poor to provide the children with a bus or the roads are too bad for the bus to run off them. Can this problem be solved?Surely, people should always be optimists and hope for a better life. Where there is a will there is a way. Nowadays we can witness the revival of some villages. So far they are few but annually their number is increasing. Vital Part of Daily Life for Many PeopleWhen I was searching for some information in the Internet I visited www.britishcouncil.org and found a very interesting article titled “Mobile Phones”. I liked the contents of the article and decided that it could be very informative and useful to English learners. I have made up some tasks which can be done after reading the material. When Scotsman Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in 1876, it was a revolution in communication. For the first time, people could talk to each other over great distances almost as clearly as if they were in the same room. Nowadays, though, we increasingly use Bell’s invention for emails, faxes and the internet rather than talking. Over the last two decades a new means of spoken communication has emerged: the mobile phone. The modern mobile phone is a more complex version of the two-way radio. Traditional two-way radio was a very limited means of communication. As soon as the users moved out of range of each other’s broadcast area, the signal was lost. In the 1940s, researchers began experimenting with the idea of using a number of radio masts located around the countryside to pick up signals from two-way radios. A caller would always be within range of one of the masts; when he moved too far away from one mast, the next mast would pick up the signal. (Scientists referred to each mast’s reception area as being a separate “cell”; this is why in many countries mobile phones are called “cell phones”.) However, 1940s technology was still quite primitive, and the “telephones” were enormous boxes which had to be transported by car. The first real mobile telephone call was made in 1973 by Dr. Martin Cooper, the scientist who invented the modern mobile handset. As soon as his invention was complete, he tested it by calling a rival scientist to announce his success. Within a decade, mobile phones became available to the public. The streets of modern cities began to feature sharp-suited characters shouting into giant plastic bricks. In Britain the mobile phone quickly became synonymous with the “yuppie”, the new breed of young urban professionals who carried the expensive handsets as status symbols. Around this time many of us swore that we would never, ever own a mobile phone. But in the mid-90s, something happened. Cheaper handsets and cheaper calling rates meant that, almost overnight, it seemed that everyone had a mobile phone. And the giant plastic bricks of the 80s had evolved into smooth little objects that fitted nicely into pockets and bags. In every pub and restaurant you could hear the bleep and buzz of mobiles ringing and registering messages, occasionally breaking out into primitive versions of the latest pop songs. Cities suddenly had a new, postmodern birdsong. Mobile phones, once the preserve of the high-powered businessperson and the “yuppie”, are now a vital part of daily life for an enormous amount of people. From schoolchildren to pensioners, every section of society has found that it’s easier to stay in touch when you’ve got a mobile. Over the last few years mobiles have become more and more advanced, with built-in cameras, global positioning devices and internet access. And in the next couple of years, we can expect to see the arrival of the “third generation” of mobile phones: powerful micro-computers with broadband internet access, which will allow us to watch TV, download internet files at high speed and send instant video clips to friends. Alexander Graham Bell would be amazed if he could see how far the science of telephony has progressed in less than 150 years. If he were around today, he might say: “That’s gr8! But I’m v busy rite now. Will call U 2nite.” By Craig Duncan email – a system that allows you to send and receive messages by computer or a message that is sent from one person to another using the email system. Task 1. Say if these statements are true or false. 1) When Scotsman Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in 1876, his invention was considered to be unimportant. T/F Task 2. Write the words and word combinations under the headings below. Summarize the contents of the article using them. Task 3. Answer the questions. 1) Why do people use mobile phones? Task 4. Read what different people say about mobile phones. Give your own pros and cons. “I can’t live without my mobile phone. Thanks to it I can be reachable everywhere and I can never miss something important. If I need some help, I just call my friends and they rush to rescue me. If I have a meeting and I’m late, I can send an SMS with my excuses. It is very fast and convenient. I’m fond of taking photos and sending them to my friends. The only problem is that I spend too much money on my mobile phone.” “I have two children and a mobile phone makes my life much easier. If I worry about my kids, I can call them and make sure they are all right. But I begin to hate my mobile phone on weekends and on holidays. I feel that I have no privacy when I know that every minute my friends, colleagues and my boss can call me and find me wherever I am. Sometimes I feel so exhausted that I go to bed earlier and forget to turn off my mobile phone. As a rule I’m awakened as soon as I fall asleep because somebody has forgotten to tell me something unimportant or to ask me to render him a service. Some people don’t understand that I’m not obliged to answer their calls 24 hours a day.” Katherine, 35, shop assistant Task 5. Read some quotations by famous people about mobile phones and comment on them. “I love the freedom of movement that my phone gives me. That has definitely transformed my life.” (Richard Branson) “You’d be surprised how difficult it is to relinquish a cell phone.” (Adrien Brody) “Would I buy a cell phone for my 12-year-old. No. I should have closer control over my child than that. He really shouldn’t be in places where he needs to contact me by cell.” (Stephen Baker) “I would say 90 percent of my mail and phone calls are from people who want some kind of help or succor or commitment from me to do something.” (Peter Coyote) “It’s getting harder and harder to differentiate between schizophrenics and people talking on a cell phone. It still brings me up short to walk by somebody who appears to be talking to themselves.” (Bob Newhart) “To be happy in this world, first you need a cell phone and then you need an airplane. Then you’re truly wireless.” (Ted Turner) How I spent my summer holidays. I like summer very much. This doesn’t mean that I don’t like spring, winter or autumn, but the fact that you do not need to get up early to go to school and you needn’t do your homework every day makes summer my favorite season. During my summer holidays, I do everything I like most of all. I play football, spend time with my parents and friends. Usually, I spend my summer holidays in the country. I like growing fruit and vegetables. My dad always tells me something interesting about plants and nature. I like to walk in the summer forest with my friends or with my parents. We often go to the river. This year we went fishing with my dad. We got up early, took our fishing rods and went to the nearest lake. We caught a lot of fish. That was amazing. Summer is the most wonderful time for me. I always look forward to summer holidays. Summer is the most beautiful time of the year. The three summer months give us a lot of new impressions. Summer is the time when I can do everything I like. I like to play football, swim in the river, go to the forest, and travel. This summer I did a lot of sports — I played football in the school stadium almost every day. During this summer holidays, I walked, bathed and sunbathed much. When it rained, I read books. One of them was Jack London’s «White Fang». I really liked the book. It is about a wolf dog, very devoted and fair, capable of great and sincere affection. Many people today lack these qualities. I would like to have such a four-footed friend. This summer I also went to the sea, visited my grandmother, and spent the rest of the time at home. In July, I had a trip to the sea with my family. The weather was nice, so we swam and sunbathe. The water was warm and transparent. We also saw the sights of Anapa and took photos. We also went to the zoo, which left a lot of good impressions. At the entrance, we were offered to buy different treats for the zoo pets. I liked to feed birds and animals from my hands. It was funny to observe the monkeys, toucans, raccoons, and ostriches. In August, I stayed with my grandmother. I liked it because my grandmother allows me absolutely everything. I read books, went rollerblading and cycling. The last summer days I spent preparing for the first of September. Summer has ended, but I will never forget my summer holidays. My holidays were excellent.
