CookiePLMonster выпустил новый патч для Scarface The World is Yours. Этот неофициальный патч исправляет основные графические сбои, возникающие на современных ПК, и повышает общую производительность. Кроме того, появился Remaster Mod от моддера ‘Killah’.

Начнем с неофициального патча от CookiePLMonster. Это обновление исправляет графические ошибки игры, делая игру играбельной на современных многоядерных машинах. Благодаря этому CookiePLMonster смог улучшить производительность и оптимизировать игру на современных конфигурациях ПК. Так же патч вводит кеш для некоторых D3D-ресурсов, используемых в игре, значительно уменьшая заикание при движении по городу.

Впрочем, в отличие от названной выше игры тут имеется и много невиданных ранее механик. This will change Tony’s black suit into a badly made Santa outfit. It also includes a candy cane(swapped with the machete) and a candy cane launcher(swapped with the SAW).

ScarfaceHook is a plugin for PC version of Scarface: The World Is Yours. It adds an ImGui powered menu with access to many features that allow customizing the gameplay experience. Any type of vehicle can be created, camera can be fully controlled and its also possible to play the game in first person perspective!

A mod that enables you to play as NPCs instead of Tony, each skin of Tony will be a different character.

Называется игра Scarface: The World Is Yours.

Проект рассказывает события а что если бы. не буду говорить, ибо для тех кто не смотрел фильм, это будет огромный СПОЙЛЕР!!

Действие разворачивается с того момента, когда на особняк главного героя фильма, кубинца по происхождению, которого зовут Тони Монтана, нападают наёмники Алехандро Сосы.

Главному герою удаётся сбежать, попутно положив полсотни наёмников, но оглядываясь назад, герой понимает что вся его наркоимперия уничтожена и он остался без жилья.

Конечно, спустя несколько миссий, мы возвращаем себе имущество при помощи знакомого адвоката (на сколько помню, вроде он адвокат), за небольшую по игровым меркам сумму, и вот тут-то, снова начинается подъём на вершину пьедестала.

По сути, игра является Grand Theft Auto подобной песочницей, главное отличие которой, это отмывание денег.

Во время сделок, на экране появляется некий индикатор, с помощью которого, игрок может контролировать сумму и граммы наркотиков, если перестараться сделка будет провалена.

Самих наркодельцов на улицах Майами много, порой некоторые из них с охраной, на этот случай можно всех перестрелять, но, денег вы получите мало.

Как и к примеру в Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, в Scarface можно скупать всевозможные здания, только тут, сначала придётся избавиться от местных авторитетов в кровавой бойне, а после, поговорить и убедить владельца что вы лучший вариант на роль ‘крыши’.

Здания регулярно приносят прибыль, но, их иногда пытаются отбить вражеские банды, тем самым, нанося вред заведению, чем больше вреда нанесли противники, тем меньше прибыль, забрать себе они здание не могут.

По этому поводу, иногда придётся ремонтировать свои купленные магазины, фабрики и прочее.

При достаточном количестве денег, можно положить их в банк.

Немаловажную роль, играет особняк Тони, мы можем полностью менять интерьер, покупать вещи, ставить их под разными углами, наборов всевозможного имущества очень много, и в отличие от некоторых частей Assassin’s Creed (где тоже можно было покупать вещи), тут это передано куда лучше, и несёт чисто эстетическое удовольствие, получается такая мини версия The Sims.

За деньги можно покупать автомобили, начиная от обычных и заканчивая шикарными спорткарами, в любой момент, вам может подвезти машину личный шофёр, если позвонить ему с карманного телефона.

У меня один раз случился кинематографичный случай по этому поводу, при подъезде шофёра, я подходя к машине, увидел как она взорволась, вместе с водителем, а Тони отлетел от взрывной волны, я так и не понял что это было, в особенностях игры, вроде не указано что вашу машину могут заминировать.

Перестрелки с врагами сделаны круто, при чём очень, тут можно автонаводиться на врага, как в играх The Godfather или Grand Theft Auto IV, или V.

Герой может прижиматься к укрытиям, но, эта способность абсолютно не нужна

Стрельба в разные части тела, даёт свой результат, можно снести противнику: голову, руки, или ноги, попасть в пах и при этом на экране будут выводиться надписи, куда вы попали.

При выстреле в из пистолета по врагу в лицо, он хватается за него и умирает.

Самому Тони, тоже могут отстрелить, практически всё.

Из арсенала в игре доступны: Разных моделей пистолеты, автоматы, дробовики, пистолеты-пулёмёты, базука, ракетная установка, снайперская винтовка, мачете, а также бензопила!

Можно драться и кулаками.

С бензопилой, вообще связана одна из самых запоминающихся миссий в игре.

Тони может входить в режим ярости, при достаточном множителе убийств, в этом режиме вид переключается на вид из глаз и персонаж крошит врагов с усиленной злостью и яростью, и ни какой Кратос рядом не стоит.

В игре имеются различные равлечения и дополнительные задания.

Битвы в клетке, ставим на кого-нибудь.

Петушиные бои (можно заработать, как не удивительно, большие деньги), выбираем пернатого, на которого хотим поставить сумму и в перёд.

Гонки на машинах, тут всё ясно.

Можно прыгать на всяческих трамплинах.

Уничтожение целей, обозначенных на карте черепом.

Тони, может пригласить жить у себя в особняке различных девушек, для этого нужно накапливать очки либидо (даются за разнообразные убийства врагов), после этого поговорив с ней, девушка украсит собой ваш особняк, привести можно несколько роковых красавиц.

Герой, может общаться с людьми на улице.

Что-бы избавляться от полиции, если вы привлекли к своей персоне слишком много внимания, можно дать им взятку через меню телефона.

Есть возможность покупать персонажу костюмы, в частности все те, что были в фильме 1983 года (написал 1983 для уточнения, потому, что фильм является ремейком картины 1932 года).

Сам же особняк, с точностью воссоздан, какой был и в фильме.

Аль Пачино, отказался от участия в озвучке игры, а главного героя вместо него озвучил (при чём сделал это на высшем уровне)

Андрэ Соглюццо.

При нажатии буквы T (если играете на компьютере), можно послушать многочисленные фразы главного героя, также, он во время таких вот мыслей в слух, ещё и жестикулирует руками.

При перестрелках с врагами, можно кричать и материть их, от этого повышается либидо.

Альтернативное развитие сюжета прописано здорово, в игре масса отсылок к фильму.

У нас имеется возможность, послушать радио, как в машине, так и вне её (на манер Watch Dogs), особенно классно перестреливаться с врагами, под песню Killing Zone-All My Life, или других.

Вообще о песнях.

В игре представлена вся музыка из фильма, в частности его композитора Джорджио Мородёра, а также множество специально лицензированной для игры, и это один из самых богатых саундтреков к играм.

Монтана умеет плавать, но если заплыть далеко без лодки, его убъёт АКУЛА.

Кстати о лодках, с них тоже можно вести огонь.

Звуки и стрельба звучат реально, в этом плане под стать музыкальному сопровождению.

Графически, игра была не лучше и не хуже большинства игр, разве что тени и солнце (которое иногда было странной формы), выглядели не очень.

Главные её плюсы: Анимация, взрывы, оформление локаций, дух Майами 1980 годов и сам Тони Монтана, который удивительно похож на свой прототип.

Физика автомобилей и катеров, без нареканий.

Radical Entertainment, были закрыты и расформированы, после выхода Prototype 2, который не оправдал кассовых надежд Activision, Call of Duty и World of Warcraft, им видимо мало денег приносят. Сарказм.

В итоге, одна из лучших (как по мне игр) с открытым миром, шикарным главным героем и восхитительной озвучкой.

Если кто-нибудь, знает как запустить игру на современных системах, без отключения дополнительных ядер и прочей ерунды,

Recently there’s been some silly drama on our site that was sparked by someone uploading a mod for Spider-Man Remastered. The mod replaced the very few Pride flags the game actually has with the already prevalent USA flag texture from the game. The mod was removed from Nexus Mods and the author was banned.

To address the banning, which is what a lot of people want to focus on, the mod was uploaded by a sock puppet account (i.e. a newly made account by someone who already has an accou.

Morrowind is turning 20 today! To celebrate this anniversary, our good friend darkelfguy is running a special edition of his yearly Morrowind May Modathon and we’re also giving away fabulous prizes in our Morrowind quiz!

Did you know that our site started out as a fansite for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind? That’s right, and that was back in 2001 when the site launched under the name «Morrowind Chronicles» in anticipation of and leading up to the game’s release exactly 20 years ag.

As some of you may already be aware, the Bethesda.net launcher is being shut down next month and players are being offered the chance to migrate their games and other content to Steam.

Luckily, Bethesda has already made both the Fallout 4 and Skyrim Sp.

Starfield, the first game in a brand new series from Bethesda Game Studios, is coming to PC and Xbox in November and while that may seem to be a long way off yet, we’re already excitedly preparing for the release.

Update 12 May 2022: Bethesda has announced on Twitter that Starfield has been delayed until the first half of 2023.

If you haven’t heard about it yet, Starfield is going to be the debut entry in an entirely new franchise and marks the first single-player RPG.

In the feature, we are looking at a very special project for the game Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. The mod in question is called «Life in Calradia» by the author OneDrop. If you haven’t played Bannerlord, it is a medieval-style action strategy game involving the huge world map of Calradia, several factions inspired by human history, hundreds of Nobles, and an assortment of beautifully created towns, castles, and villages.

However, those of you who have played will know that one.

I’m sure you’re all aware of the horrible assault on Ukraine that started on 24 February. Along with the leadership and people of the vast majority of countries in the world, we strongly condemn this unprovoked attack on another sovereign nation at the orders of Russian president Vladimir Putin.

The Frostbite Engine is one of the most powerful game engines around, and the backbone of many of the most popular games. Unless you only play indie games, you’ve likely played a game running on the Frostbite Engine. Up until recently, however, modding Frostbite Engine games was a daunting task (and by daunting I mean near-impossible).

When GalaxyMan2015 (known as Ehamloptiran here on Nexus Mods) couldn’t find the tools to dig into the Frostbite Engin.

This week we have enlisted the help of one of our moderators, Jokerine, to fill in for BlindJudge while he is away. She takes a look at cleaning up with command console in Fallout: New Vegas, while SirSalami decides to play The Witcher 3 with some help from Geralt’s friends. Our guest submission adds a unique and lore-friendly set of armor to Morrowind and I’ll be trying to beat the summer heat in Stardew Valley!

SirSalami has found an incredible dodge mod for Skyrim that not only adds an ability for you to dodge attacks, but also your enemies. I have a Star Wars based mod from nubyplay that I have had great fun checking out (frazzling enemies with lightning or sending them skyward never seems to get old), Terrorfox1234 has multicolored torches with a variety of uses, and Robbie922004 has come through again yet with a great pick and wri.

We’re back and have some brilliant mods for you to take a look at. SirSalami goes back to try out a mod for Morrowind, I check out Elianoras latest Fallout 4 abode, and Terrorfox… well, he just wants some kind of freedom within his Fallout 4 world, our community pick this week adds a lot more content into Skyrim and looks like a great expansion.

As some of you may already be aware, the Bethesda.net launcher is being shut down next month and players are being offered the chance to migrate their games and other content to Steam.

Luckily, Bethesda has already made both the Fallout 4 and Skyrim Sp.

Update 12 May 2022: Bethesda has announced on Twitter that Starfield has been delayed until the first half of 2023.

If you haven’t heard about it yet, Starfield is going to be the debut entry in an entirely new franchise and marks the first single-player RPG.

Applications are now closed for this position.

We’re naming this role the «Office Manager» role, however, it will involve a range of different tasks that could fit into all sorts of job descriptions, including «Facilities Manager».

We’re very happy to say that the community came out strong in support of Ukraine raising over £6,500 (

At this moment the people of Ukraine are suffering the consequences of Putin’s war of aggression which is bringing nothing but death, destruction, and displacement to countless familie.

Мой конфиг: i3 2100 + Intel HD 2000, 5 Gb DDR3 = игра идет без каких либо графических артефактов. ЗЫ: Win 7 Home Premium (x64) полёт нормальный ЗЗЫ: интереса ради запустил игру не через «bat» а через «exe», у меня чуть глаза не лопнули, какое всё отвратительно не играбельное, ХВАЛА автору.

Фикс FPS Победил низкий FPS таким способом: 1. Запускаем игру 2. Сворачиваем и заходим в Диспетчер задач 3. Ищем процесс и нажимаем Подробно 4. Щелкаем правой кнопкой мыши по процессу игры и жмем Задать сходство 5. Щелкаем Все процессы и возвращаемся в игру Все, FPS в порядке.

Update 12 May 2022: Bethesda has announced on Twitter that Starfield has been delayed until the first half of 2023.

If you haven’t heard about it yet, Starfield is going to be the debut entry in an entirely new franchise and marks the first single-player RPG.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition dropped in May and since then almost 400 mods, saves and presets have already been shared with the community. While Bioware has not provided any official modding tools, the community found a way! Legendary Explorer (LEX) is a developer tool kit for ME:LE created and maintained entirely by fans of the series. It features around 30 powerful tools to make creating mods for Legendary Edition significantly easier. We’ve been talking with Mgamerz and Audemus about the ex.

Scarface: The World is Yours: Обзор

Видимо, кому-то из больших шишек стало мало игр по мотивам современных блокбастеров. Действительно, второсортной ерунды должно быть много. Посему издатели с разработчиками принялись охаживать классику мирового кинематографа. И если конвейер под названием Star Wars давно и не безуспешно работает по одобрению самого Джорджа Лукаса, то вот добраться до других шедевров получилось не сразу. Сначала какие-то умники продали EA лицензию на легендарного Godfather («Крестный отец» в российском прокате), так еще и не менее легендарный Scarface («Лицо со шрамом») попал под раздачу. Обидно, очень обидно.

Начнем, пожалуй, с графики. Благодаря устаревшим консолям прошлого поколения, картинка Scarface: The World is Yours выглядит, прямо скажем, несовременно. Говоря точнее, местная графика недалеко ушла от Vice City – игры, которой c момента выхода на PS2 стукнуло ни много, ни мало 4 года! Модели отвратны, текстуры «замылены» и расплывчаты, спецэффекты кошмарны. Старье, рухлядь, прошлый век. Кроме всего прочего, Scarface прямо-таки «радует» неслабыми системными требованиями. На вопрос «за что такое счастье?» получаем один единственный ответ «потому что порт консольный». Однако проходящие легендарный Fallout ни один десяток раз и после выхода всяких там Oblivion’ов смело и без тени сомнения заявляют, что графика это дело десятое. Сущая истина, но в случае со Scarface такое отношение не подходит.

Сюжет просто поражает воображение своей несуразностью. Но для начала, проясним ситуацию тем, кто фильм не смотрел. Главный герой Тони Монтана – жуткий подонок и самый отъявленный мерзавец. Вспомнили незабвенного Риддика? Что вы, лысый циник-убийца и рядом с героем Аль Пачино не лежал. Наш добрый Тони делал все, чтобы получить безраздельную власть. Устранить конкурента – не проблема, хоть для этого и придется руки замарать. В оригинальном кинофильме все кончалось смертью Тони. В него всаживали крупную очередь, на чем, собственно, его славный жизненный путь и заканчивался. Сценарист же посчитал, что тупо копировать события фильма несколько не актуально (концовка, к примеру, будет известна заранее), потому лучше припаять к творению Брайна Де Пальмы здоровущий кусок отсебятины. Привет, Мозг – Тони Монтана остался жив после кровопролитной бойни, однако, ему пришлось залечь на дно и залечить раны, в то время как самодовольные ироды пировали на заработанных им потом и кровью харчах. Но ничего, Тони сказал, что вернется и отомстим, так что можно быть уверенным: он действительно вернется и действительно отомстит. Вот такая, в общем, сюжетная завязка. Фанаты фильма в ужасе, обычные игроки в размышлениях о том, кто же такой наш Тони, ведь никакой, даже самой завалящей предыстории здесь попросту нет.

Очень интересно обстоит дело с полицией. Если совсем уж сильно напакостить и не успеть скрыться, то от жестокой кары местного правосудия уже не уйти. Управление отключается, игроку демонстрируется развеселая надпись «you are fucked up» (надеюсь, в переводе не нуждается) и Тони получает свинцовый заряд бодрости, теряя вместе с тем драгоценное содержимое своих карманов. С пешеходами дела обстоят еще интересней и воистину захватывающе. Полигональных буратин из Майами, как поется в песне «не задушишь, не убьешь», так еще и машиной не задавишь. Живучие попались. Странное решение, если учесть, что в жестоких сценах игре не отнимать, особенно когда в арсенал геймера попадает бензопила.
Обиднее всего то, что разработчики никак не поймут в чем же сила неповторимой серии GTA. Вот недавно вышедший Just Cause обладал неплохим графическим движком и шикарным игровым миров, однако, делать в нем было просто нечего. Так и в Scarface, гулять по низкополигональному Майами крайне нудно и неинтересно.

А вот экшен часть игры выполнена на удивление качественно. Кроме описанного выше параметра Respect Points у Тони есть еще измеритель крутизны (Balls Meter). Если много шалить и пакостить, то ваша крутизна поднимется до небес, а главный герой перейдет в местный вариант «берсерка». Игра переключается на вид от первого лица и Тони начинает творить самый настоящий апокалипсис, кроша противников направо и налево. Жаль, что картинка убогая. Лицезреть происходящие побоища с видом от первого лица, удовольствие для тех еще извращенцев.

Без внимания осталось лишь звуковое оформление. Тут все сделано на твердую пятерку. Голоса подобранны отлично, жаль лишь сам Аль Пачино не смог озвучить своего персонажа, но подобранная на его место замена не вызывает никаких нареканий. Музыкальных композиций в игре и того больше сотни, что, мягко говоря, немало. Звучавшие в фильме треки изрядно дополнены музыкой того времени.

Клон GTA, позарившийся на классику криминального кино. Местами неплохо, но, в общем ужасно. Одним словом – провал.

Геймплей: Вы играли в GTA? Тогда и объяснять нечего. Город, живущий по своим законам, использование транспорта и занятные перестрелки вот и все.
Графика: Vice City, только 4 года спустя. Сейчас такая картинка выглядит ужасно.
Звук: Отличный саундтрек и хорошая подборка актеров кидают неслабый плюс в общую оценку.
Надолго ли?: Здешний мир не цепляет. Его не хочется исследовать, в нем не не хочется искать «пасхальные яйца» или просто бродить.

После сделки Тони должен отмыть деньги в местном банке и перевести их на свой счет. Затем он может купить «экзотику» для своего особняка, как дорогую вазу или новую машину с водителем.

Когда вы разговариваете с дилером или пытаетесь разогреть полицейского, игрок должен сыграть в мини-игру, которая определяет, успешен ли Тони и, если да, сколько он получает за наркотики или сколько тепла он теряет.

Уважение можно заработать, увеличив территорию Тони, покупая экзотику и зарабатывая «шары» в боях и за рулем. У врагов есть разные целевые зоны, которые дают разное количество шаров при попадании. Это также заполняет «шариковый метр» Тони. Как только он заполнится, он может войти в своего рода режим бога, в котором он неуязвим и имеет неограниченные боеприпасы. randyknapp: Thanks for having me! I’m Randy, I’m 33, I live in Seattle with my wife and kids. I’m a professional video game developer with 10 years of industry experience.

In this feature, we’re chatting with Aragas (aka Aragasas), one of our top Bannerlord mod authors. While you might not have heard of him, if you’ve played Mount & Blade II with mods there’s a good chance you’ve used at least one of the mods he and the other members of the Bannerlord Unofficial Tools & Resources (BUTR) team have worked on.

Deadpool2099: You’re welcome 🙂 Well, I don’t know what would be interesting that I can tell about myself. I was born in a family fu.

Mangaclub: Thank you! It’s good to have the opportunity to answer your questions. The weather is actually the.

Skyblivion is a name that most modders of Skyrim or Oblivion may have heard at one time or another over the last 9 years. It’s an incredibly ambitious project which aims to recreate the entirety of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in the newer game engine used by Skyrim. The team have recently released their first «Development Diary» which gives us a taste of what’s to come. In this feature, we’re chatting with Rebelzize and the team about this exciting venture.

Hey! My name is Alex, I’m a full-time software developer and a fairly recognisable member of the Blade & Sorcery Discord server.

In this feature, we’re chatting with KospY. The brains behind the massively popular VR game, Blade & Sorcery, who began his journey into game development as a modder tinkering with his favourite games.

I am the developer of Blade & Sorcery, a physics-based medieval fantasy VR combat game which was released in Early Access end.

Today we are talking to DeserterX a long time member of our Nexus Mods community and author of many incredibly detailed armour mods for Fallout 4 and Skyrim.

I love this game. The graphics look really good. It captures the look and feel of early 1980s Miami. The soundtrack is good but not as perfect as Vice City. I love the voice acting. Every taunt is badass, funny and taken straight from the movie. The Balls Rage is one of the coolest concepts ever. The story is an altered follow up to the 1983 film and its so fun. It has side missions, drug zones, races and compounds. This game makes you feel like you are Tony Montana. This is the only game to have it’s actual movie soundtrack in the game.

It is very faithful to the film.

The biggest flaws are money balancing and hit detection. The hit detection is not much of a problem depending on the gun you use. Money is the main issue as it is needed for you to build up your respect meter by buying exotics for Tony’s mansion and assets that you constantly need to save up to buy them as the last two areas are the most expensive.

Scarface The World is Yours

Scarface: The World is Yours – трехмерный шутер, использующий концепцию открытого мира, вид камеры от третьего лица и аркадные покатушки по городу на разномастном транспорте. Глядя на эту далеко не новую идею даже для 2006 года, на ум приходит лишь сравнение этой игры со славно известным творением компании Rockstar Games – The Grand Theft Auto. Игровая адаптация Лица со шрамом на всю катушку эксплуатирует практически все механики ГТА.

Сюжет игры лишь косвенно связан с событиями одноименной киноленты. Непосредственно введение пользователя в суть дела начинается с последней сцены фильма, где главный герой Тони Монтана устраивает безумную перестрелку с неприятелями. Казалось бы, на этой сцене должно было бы все и закончиться, поскольку в оригинале наркоторговец итальянского происхождения отправился к праотцам, но нет. В игре же наш протагонист отделался парой тройкой пулевых ранений и залег на дно. Залечивая свои раны, Тони долгое время вынашивал план мести и планировал возвращение в мир преступной жизни. И в этом вы должны будете ему помочь.

Today’s subject is Scarface: The World is Yours. This tie-in game to a 1983 movie Scarface was developed by Radical Entertainment and released in late 2006.

Naturally, by now you likely know where it’s going – what is wrong this time? As always, PCGamingWiki page provides an answer – at the time of writing this post, you can see the issue listed as one of the key points:

Graphics are corrupted on modern versions of Windows

This doesn’t tell much about how bad is it, so what does it look like?

It is… very bad. While results vary across different PC’s greatly, nearly every modern PC displays this broken mess, rendering the game unplayable. Of course, community came up with workarounds, but they sadly have their drawbacks:

While these might suffice for casual play, neither of these workarounds address the root cause of the issue. However, we want to know what exactly went wrong, so those aren’t enough – armed with a debugger and a virtual machine, I can proceed to figuring this issue out.

Part one – critical bugs

Step one to figuring out such issues is of course attaching a debugger. This time, since the issue seems to be specific to D3D, I aided myself with DirectX Wrappers from Elisha Riedlinger. Having a minimal d3d9.dll wrapper is excellent for prototyping, since it allows me to instantly and reliably tap into game’s rendering code without any game specific hacking.

That said, this issue could really be anything. That’s where experience helps, so I was able to come up with theories by just observing how the bug looks visually:

I theoretized that this issue relates to vertex buffers not updating properly. At this point it’s worth to mention that people thought this issue shows up only on multicore CPU’s. If this is true, then it could mean that the issue is a classic race condition – which also would explain why it looks different every time. Conceptually, it also makes sense – game could be loading models on multiple threads, setting up D3D resources concurrently and I imagine that failing to do so in a thread safe manner could result in artifacts looking like that.

That theory is trivial to confirm or debunk via a DX9 wrapper. Set up additional code to verify that all calls to IDirect3DVertexBuffer9::Lock and IDirect3DVertexBuffer9::Unlock are done from the same thread. If they are done from multiple threads, it could be a possible culprit.

I set up verification, and… nothing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Theory debunked.

Let’s take another look at vertex buffer locks though. I spotted that some (not all) locks are done with a D3DLOCK_DISCARD flag. Looking at MSDN docs, it’s defined as (emphasis added by me):

The application discards all memory within the locked region. For vertex and index buffers, the entire buffer will be discarded. This option is only valid when the resource is created with dynamic usage.

I don’t know about you, but I see possible room for error here. It is possible to lock only a part of the buffer, so I can imagine somebody not realizing that locking a part of the buffer with discard flag would throw it away entirely.

However, game always locks entire buffers:

Analyzing the code further though, I was not fully convinced that after discarding game always fills the entire buffer. So what if we assume the flag is added there wrongly and remove it?

It works! It doesn’t seem to be a fluke either – the game was consistently fixed for me and several other people who tested.

A cautious reader might stop right here and ask a few questions:

Proving correctness

With a DX9 wrapper and knowledge on when D3DLOCK_DISCARD is supposed to be used, I could come up with proof that this flag was used wrongly. In principle, you’d use this flag when locking a buffer if you did not care about the buffer’s past contents and intended to fill it with new data. If the game used this flag, but also expected the buffer to retain its old contents, then the flag was misused.

To test whether the game really cares about previous buffer contents, I deliberately filled it with garbage if the game locked it with D3DLOCK_DISCARD :

Much to my relief, the result was more or less what I expected:

Graphics were once again broken, which proves that game locks buffers with a D3DLOCK_DISCARD flag and expects the contents not to be thrown away! For me that’s a satisfactory enough proof of API misuse, and a proof that removing this flag is not a workaround, but a correct fix.

What about PIX and dgVoodoo? The latter is a wrapper, so I can imagine it not emulating the behaviour of the discard flag. PIX on the other hand is a graphics debugger, and in order to be able to capture the frame it likely preserves past and current buffer’s contents. While I can’t prove it for certain, I wouldn’t be surprised if PIX just ignored this flag overall.

Are we done? Well…

Part two – performance

I could technically finish here, as the most important issue has been fixed, and the game is playable. However, something was still off…

I have a i7-6700K and GTX 1070, mind you.

My PC is nowhere close to “bad”, yet I was unable to maintain stable 60 FPS – in the area presented on a screenshot, I in fact got consistent 40-45 FPS. To say it’s “terrible” would be an understatement.

However, looking up process affinity in Task Manager reveals something… interesting:

It is like this on every game launch.

Looking into the game’s code again, it seems like the game voluntarily sets itself to run on only one core. Why? I don’t know for sure, but I theoretized that this might have been a workaround for the aforementioned graphics corruption bug. Recall that people claimed this bug occurs only on multicore CPU’s – and so I theoretized perhaps in WinXP days limiting CPU affinity to one core “fixed” this issue, and on newer systems it stopped being the case due to changes in how drivers work (eg. if WDDM drivers manage buffers out of process, then affinity settings would not affect them). It’s a very long shot, but hey – we’ve seen this before already.

Remove this code so game runs on all cores, and sure enough – it’s smooth as butter now. It also does not seem to have any visible race conditions (which could have been “hidden” by setting CPU affinity), because people tested it for hours and encountered no crashes or new bugs.

On top of that, I also identified the game was creating the D3D device with a multithreaded flag – which is said to degrade performance, and was absolutely unneeded for the game. Another performance gain!

More performance

Is there more we can do? Turns out, yes.

When testing these fixes, aap observed that the game ran really poorly on his PC – technically, it was full speed, but when driving around it’d hitch a lot. I also observed the same when debugging the game on a virtual machine, sometimes having the game pause for seconds at a time!

I checked it in a debugger, and much to my surprise, during those hitches the game spent a lot of time… releasing buffers! I fired up PIX and immediately noticed how happy the game is to create new buffers (and thus unload old buffers) when driving around:

Load it all.

This is really unhealthy. There is no reason the game can’t reuse buffers instead of throwing them away and creating new ones. Luckily, the game has only two types of vertex buffers (static buffers in a managed pool, dynamic buffers in a default pool), and one type of index buffer, which makes the buffer cache relatively simple to implement. It looks like this game might really need it.

I settled on implementing a simplistic cache with the following behaviour:

I implemented the cache and ran the same test – it was really smooth in comparison for both me and aap! PIX graphs also looked much, much better now:

Reuse it all.

With this fix implemented, I finally was satisfied with the state of the game. Few final touches, and SilentPatch for Scarface is good to go!

The the colors and lightning are better. But the models and textures are still the same as from the original.

Will we get after every texture done a model remaster too? (or at least some touch up)

I had to install the game off of another site that deals with retro and honestly forgotten games, but I don’t really have a gaming laptop or pc so I kinda figured it wouldn’t work. But I opened up the vanilla version of the game and it ran well so I figured, why not try the remastered project. And omg it is the most beautiful thing I’ve seen! You can tell lots of love and time went into this project!

Однако The World Is Yours собрала неплохую прессу, кое-где получив даже девятки и десятки, и в целом неплохо была принята аудиторией. Что представляет собой сама игра — вы в подробностях можете узнать из «Разбора полётов», а сейчас давайте посмотрим, что же писали критики о Scarface в момент её выхода.

«А какие здесь [будут] перестрелки!»

Мы берёмся доказать, что именно Scarface лучше всего справляется с ролью GTA-киллера: здесь более красивая графика, богаче геймплей, и — отличие на миллион долларов — вместо «Busted» честно пишут «You’re fucked!».

Отмечу, что журналистам Scarface впервые была показана в 2005 году на E3 и тогда игра отхватила сплошь негативные отзывы. Для презентации игры Vivendi Games, издатель «Лица со шрамом», даже соорудил в выставочном павильоне копию кабинета Тони Монтаны, но это не особо помогло. Игровой процесс журналистов не впечатлил, а от красот местной графики рецензентам хотелось то ли смеяться, то ли плакать. Разработчики из Radical Entertainment сразу же уловили негативный настрой и выводы из произошедшего сделали правильные:

После той презентации на E3 многие говорили, что Scarface выглядит стерильно, не привлекает внимания». Ничего не оставалось, кроме как начать всё заново.

Судя по всему, за год игру неслабо так прокачали — в превью от мая 2006-го журналист «Страны Игр» отзывается о графике довольно тепло:

Честно говоря, комплиментарный тон автора «Страны Игр» оставил меня в недоумении, потому что ставить игре в плюс настолько банальные вещи уж слишком странно:

К середине нулевых отечественный бумажный игрожур достиг пика своей популярности — тиражи некоторых изданий исчислялись чуть ли не сотнями тысяч копий, а свежий выпуск можно было купить практически в любом ларьке. Авторы колесили по миру, посещая десятки презентаций, и, как правило, счета за весь этот праздник оплачивал издатель в рамках маркетинговой поддержки игры. Отсюда у простых игроков частенько возникал вопрос: а не проплачено ли мнение этого автора? Можно ли ему доверять?

Примечательно, что в обзоре Scarface Ник Данн (Nik Dunn), автор Gaming Age, тоже затрагивает эту тему:

Самое сложное — это публично критиковать кого-то, с кем ты лично знаком. Игру гораздо проще разнести в пух и прах, когда её авторы обезличены. Что ж, это и произошло с Radical Entertainment и её последним проектом — Scarface: The World is Yours. Я считаю необходимым сказать, что компания прилетела в Ванкувер, устроила нам вечеринку и пыталась повлиять на нас своими коварными предложениями. Релиз, как всегда, всё расставил по своим местам, однако мнения рецензентов довольно сильно разделились. Да, по большей части игру ругали, и ругали заслуженно, однако примерно треть авторов остались не просто довольны Scarface — некоторые были от неё в неподдельном восторге.

«Весь танцпол состоял из одного и того же чёрного парня»

Полагаю, и так понятно, что игровой процесс в «Лице со шрамом» практически полностью копирует серию Grand Theft Auto. Но делать чистый клон без капли своих идей — это чересчур даже для нулевых годов, поэтому разработчики попытались добавить разнообразия при помощи новых механик — экономики и репутации:

Начинается всё с обычной продажи весёлого порошка каким-то болванчикам, а уже потом главный герой сможет толкать более крупные партии. Больше товара — больше доход, другого здесь и не придумаешь. Еще одним действием уважения является отношение банд к вашей персоне.

Параметр запредельно мал? Получайте восторженный приём из всех огнестрельных орудий только заехав не на свою территорию. Так что выполнять дополнительные задания и толкать порошок всё равно придётся, иначе проезд из одной части города в другую превратится в ещё один фильм из серии «Миссия невыполнима».

Beast_Extra, StopGame (Маковеев сказал, что застал даже этот дизайн!)

К сожалению, необходимость и в добыче денег, и в увеличении репутации не разнообразит геймплей, а жёстко его ограничивает, запрещая игроку выполнять сюжетные миссии и вынуждая постоянно «фармить» ресурсы — совсем как в третьей «Мафии»:

Набрав достаточно сил и капитала, Тони начинает скупать недвижимость, постепенно овладевая всем городом и восстанавливая тем самым свою былую империю. Продвижение по сюжету, кстати, «прибито» к потолку параметром Respect Points. Мало «респекта» — до потолка ты не допрыгнешь и новую сюжетную миссию, хоть тресни, не получишь. Заработать уважения можно за счёт продажи кокаина или выполнения побочных и крайне нудных заданий.

The World is Yours вышла под самый закат PlayStation 2 и спустя год после старта продаж Xbox 360, но, несмотря на это, технологически была далека от совершенства:

…Scarface не соответствует современным технологическим стандартам. Признаюсь, что поначалу мне было тяжело играть на телевизоре из-за нестандартного разрешения. Мне даже пришлось напомнить себе, что люди до сих пор играют на [первых] PlayStation и Xbox, так что я попридержал свои эмоции относительного нового поколения [консолей], чтобы справедливо оценить игру.

И если графически игра выглядела не особо привлекательно, то вот саундтрек понравился практически всем:

Игра насыщена музыкой: библиотека треков включает в себя как поп-музыку 80-х и оригинальный саундтрек Джорджо Мородера (Georgio Moroder), так и более современные композиции — в стиле рок, хип-хоп и реггетон. Чтобы проверить, что собой вообще представляет игра, я в неё немного поиграл. Что ж, могу лишь подписаться под каждым словом Дениса Дронова с сайта BestGamer — управление в Scarface преотвратное:

Некоторые журналисты находили в The World Is Yours и положительные стороны. Вот Лия Новикова из «PC Игр» хвалит боевую систему и продуманный интерфейс:

Помнишь раздражающие «пешие» миссии из GTA? Их реализация была просто чудовищной. Главный герой частенько склеивал ласты, угодив в случайную перестрелку. Дизайнеры Radical учли это и как следует продумали боевую систему. Тони умеет фиксировать прицел на жертве и выбирать в какую часть тела пальнуть.

…В любой момент, просто нажав волшебную клавишу «Tab», ты выполнишь все те действия, ради которых Си Джею и Верцетти приходилось носиться по всему городу. Забудь об изнурительной волоките, когда половину игрового времени ты тратишь на бессмысленные перебежки!

И хотя аналогии с Vice City в «Лице со шрамом» читаются сразу же, Scarface всё же игра с другим темпом и подходом к повествованию. Далеко за примерами ходить не надо: несмотря на всю жестокость и непрекращающийся поток ругательств (для которых здесь предусмотрена отдельная кнопка), устроить такую резню, как в GTA, в The World is Yours не выйдет:

Scarface заметно отличается от прочих подобных игр об угоне машин и преступных сообществах. Игроки, жаждущие тотального разрушения и массового геноцида, удивятся, обнаружив, что подобное отвратительное поведение здесь невозможно. Моральный кодекс Тони остался нетронутым.

«Сочно. Жестоко. Неотразимо»

Листая журнал «Шпиль!», я долго не мог понять: это автор с сарказмом пишет или всерьёз?

Получилось настолько сочно и смачно, что тебя просто захлёстывает с первых же секунд. Ты — уже не ты, а Тони Монтана. Игра цепляет вмиг, сразу и бескомпромиссно, не оставляя ни одного шанса на спасение. Выключить машину и лечь спать в шесть утра после десятичасовых похождений Антонио примерно так же легко, как отрезать себе ногу зубочисткой. Сочно. Жестоко. Неотразимо.

Шайтан и прочие гламурные зверьки, «Шпиль!»

Не знаю, что уж такого сочного в Scarface, но состарилась она гораздо хуже тех же GTAIII и Vice City. У меня, по крайней мере, желания играть больше десяти минут не возникло.

А вот в чём сошлись мнения практически всех критиков, так это в оценке озвучивания персонажей. Особенно отмечали работа Андре Сольюццо (Andre Sogliuzzo) — актёра, озвучившего Тони:

Лучшее, что связывает игру с фильмом, — это великолепная репрезентация Тони Монтаны. Пускай Аль Пачино и не смог озвучить такое гигантское количество диалогов (хотя он и помог подобрать актёра), озвучен Тони Монтана просто невероятно. Всё передано абсолютно точно — от акцента и интонаций до лёгкой, но заметной эмоциональной окраски ругательств в середине сказанных предложений.

Но ладно озвучка, вы просто почитайте, как презентуют Монтану в «Шпиле!». Честное слово, хотел бы я уметь так писать:

Ты — Тони — держишь в руках М16 и, поливая неверных отборной руганью, перекрашиваешь стены и потолок своего имения кровью и мозгами. Киллер, который пытался подкрасться к тебе сзади — а в киноленте он сделал это с большим успехом, — валяется в твоём кабинете, остужая в пузе горячий металл из автомата.

Шайтан и прочие гламурные зверьки, «Шпиль!»

Тони — персонаж многослойный, и, несмотря на то что сделать его таким же одномерным, как прочие протагонисты «песочниц», было бы очень просто, Radical смогла уловить тонкости игры Аль Пачино и каким-то образом сумела превратить его в играбельного персонажа, не надоедающего за десятки часов геймплея.

Вон Смит, Cheat Code Central

С «Мафией», но уже третьей Scarface роднит и глобальная цель протагониста — создание собственной криминальной империи. В серии GTA (до пятой части уж точно) главные герои не были настолько амбициозны и большей частью играли роль мальчиков на побегушках, выполняя задания боссов. По крайней мере, так считает мистер Роупер из IGN:

[В игре], безусловно, имеется сюжет, но сосредоточен он вокруг мести и возвращения утраченной собственности, поэтому большей частью [история] остаётся где-то на фоне и не двигает повествование вперёд. Вместо того чтобы помогать какому-то непонятному главарю преступной банды потому, что так написано в сценарии, вы делаете вполне логичные вещи, которые идут вам на пользу. Разумеется, здесь всё гораздо проще, чем в похожих играх, но этот приём хорошо работает, делая происходящее более естественным.

«Обалденная игра с незабываемой атмосферой»

Сейчас мы уже отвыкли от такого, но лет 15 назад в ходу было понятие «игра по фильму». Чаще всего оно использовалось исключительно в негативном ключе и служило клеймом, так как зачастую издатели вместо качественного продукта предлагали игрокам кучу мусора, выезжающую исключительно на громкой лицензии. Вот и Scarface, судя по некоторым отзывам, — типичная «игра по фильму»:

Но, увы, перед нами снова хоть и относительно неплохая, но всего лишь «игра по фильму».

Не понимал смысла существования Scarface и Олег Ставицкий из «Игромании»:

Проблема в том, что The World is Yours выглядит и играется абсолютно так же, как и рокстаровский шедевр. Этими самыми миссиями, атмосферой, саундтреком, заездами на лодках и влажным закатом сквозь пальмы мы уже отвосхищались несколько лет назад.

К нему же присоединялся Денис Кублицкий, автор «Страны Игр»:

Затерявшись на полпути между GTAIII и GTA: Vice City, на каждую ложку мёда Scarface предлагает свою каплю дёгтя. Удачные находки соседствуют с позорными недочётами, тусклая графика оттеняет безупречное звуковое оформление, а однообразные побочные задания заставляют забыть о драйве основных миссий.

Примечательно, что в западной прессе «Лицо со шрамом» встретили гораздо теплее. Средний рейтинг игры в отечественных изданиях застыл на отметке в 60 баллов, а вот на Metacritic дорос до неплохих 75. С чем это связано — не совсем понятно, но своя версия есть у Ставицкого:

Некоторые наши западные коллеги отчего-то хвалят Scarface за привнесение свежих идей в привычную GTA-схему. Нам тут остаётся только посоветовать уважаемым авторам измерить температуру собственного тела ректальным способом.

И действительно, заключения некоторых иностранных коллег заставляют задаться вопросом: а они точно играли в ту игру?

Radical предлагает высокобюджетный, первоклассный опыт, стирающий грань между фильмами и видеоиграми. Сейчас уже недостаточно просто скопировать популярную игру. Жанр необходимо обновлять и освежать, внедряя в него новые идеи, и всё, что я могу сказать на этот счёт, — Radical с этим справилась.

Вон Смит, Cheat Code Central

В Scarface: The World is Yours присутствует множество мелочей, добавляющих ей увлекательности, но именно сумма всех её частей делает [из Scarface] отличную игру. В игре было исправлено множество присущих жанру проблем, а работа по адаптации мира Scarface для геймеров проделана поистине колоссальная.

Это огромная игра, которая глубоко погружает игрока в тёмный и завораживающий мир Тони Монтаны. Я помню как на одном старом стриме кто-то написал в комменты «А чего это у меня реклама эротики на СГ, вы что там вообще офигели?!» На что Макс Кулаков ответил, что реклама высвечивается таргетированная, то есть не то, что СГ предлагал, а то что вы сами искали, гуглили, смотрели. Орали, как грица, всем селом.

Вполне себе годная игра категории б по лицензии. Пару раз проходил.

Поиграл в неё, когда уже была Сан адреас. Чем-то Scarface зацепил больше чем детища rockstar

А ведь классная игрушка. Перестрелки весёлые, система отмыва денег мне прям очень понравилась, постройка своей империи. Прошёл году в 13-м с удовольствием, а от воспоминаний аж снова захотелось погонять

По мере прокачки «шаров» существенно растут как цены на взятки полиции и конкурентам, так и прирост их озлобленности по итогам каждой отгрузки товара. Плюс, проценты от QTE-переговоров тоже ломаются. По итогу ты за сколько-то покупаешь тонну товара, везешь его на континент с боем, потом так же с боем развозишь по точкам, половину из которых еще постоянно атакуют конкуренты, а почти вся выручка уходит на откупные. И всё равно тебя атакуют постоянно. На какой-то раз меня эта цепочка так утомила, что я просто взломал деньги, скупил всё-всё-всё и пошел заканчивать сюжет.
В остальном же игра именно что неплоха. Неплохое вождение, неплохая стрельба, но только с автоприцелом, неплохая система покупки-доставки-реализации кокса, которая меняется по мере роста объемов. Озвучка и саундтрек просто великолепны. Мог получиться приличный ГТА-клон-проходняк, но из-за гриндволла перед последними несколькими сюжетными миссиями, допроходить игру просто не хочется.

Вы, должно быть, прочитав абзац выше, решили, что игра мне не понравилась, однако это далеко не так. Несмотря на описанные моменты, Scarface оставил у меня скорее положительные эмоции. Да, приходиться заниматься гриндом, однако желание приобрести дорогую тачку или обновить свой особняк перевешивало все отвращение к данному процессу. То, как ты шаг за шагом строил свою собственную империю, расширяя рынки сбыта и устраняя конкурентов, заставляла просиживать в игре долгие часы. В конце концов, в игре была шикарная музыка — оборонять заведение от волн врагов под «Caribbean Queen» Билли Оушена было особенным удовольствием 😊

Игру сильно пытались растянуть и в какой то момент я взвывал от однообразия. Играл не без удовольствия, но реально, лучше она была бы короче раза в три и более концентрированной.

Ну в отличии от гта сан андреас, в скарфейсе можно найти НЛО и это меня удивило, когда сам на нее наткнулся. Если бы вышла вторая часть, мне кажется была бы у нее и своя фан база и ошибки они учли. Но.

Насколько я понял, движок, что у ГТА, что у Scarface один и тот же, а именно Renderware, хотя местами лицо со шрамом выглядит лучше гта, особенно на боксе. Ну и в некоторых аспектах она с геймплейной стороны лучше, больше чувствуешь себя воротилой бизнеса, а не шестёркой захватывающей власть.

Душевная была игра. Много хороших идей, которые потом перекочевали в GTA (например, возможность по телефону машину себе вызвать — удобно). Жаль, что ближе к концу гринд предприятий становился очень занудным.

Какие типы игр являются популярными на рынке? Безусловно, немалую долю от их общего числа составляют так называемые «проекты по мотивам». Если же брать направленность таких продуктов, то многие из них предлагают погрузиться в истории про преступников, гангстеров и прочих негодяев. В Radical Entertainment предприняли попытку совместить два типа в одном проекте. «История о насилии, да еще и по известной кинолицензии почему бы и нет?», подумали в компании и выдали в сентябре экшен Scarface, продолжающий сюжетную линию одноименного фильма, едва ли не лучшей гангстерской кинокартины всех времен и народов.

Казалось бы, как можно дополнить сюжет фильма, известного россиянам по названию «Лицо со шрамом» (режиссер Брайан де Пальма, 1983 год)? Ведь сие произведение кинематографа является полным, логически завершенным и не требующим продолжения. Каждая попытка дальше растягивать историю (в любом виде, будь то игра или даже книга) наверняка окажется провальной. Поэтому геймерское сообщество (да и ваш покорный слуга тоже) с изрядной долей скепсиса относилось ко всяческим заявлениям разработчиков о Scarface. И вот игра вышла. Коробка на разделочном столе журналиста, сосредоточенные глаза, пальцы на клавиатуре. О результатах изучения я вам сейчас расскажу.

Если бы да кабы

Scarface-игра кинокартину не повторяет, она ее, как упоминалось выше, продолжает. Сценаристам Radical Entertainment, видимо, так понравился Тони Монтана (а скорее, все-таки сыгравший его Аль Пачино), что прощаться с ним им никак не захотелось. Поэтому в дело вступила фантазия. Что было бы, если бы Тони остался жив в адской финальной перестрелке? На этот вопрос нам и попытались дать ответ девелоперы.

Помните, что оказалось смертельным для главного героя? Некто в черных очках и с дробовиком в руке выстрелом в спину окончательно повалил с ног Монтана. Поэтому разработчики сделали так, чтобы до этого рокового момента дело не дошло. Получив возможность управлять персонажем за несколько мгновений до сего страшного события, мы оборачиваемся и укладываем этого самого опасного врага. Начало положено, но впереди добрая сотня разбушевавшихся южноамериканских охотников. Ничего себе первый уровень! Однако создатели сделали его довольно простым, хотя уже в первые минуты ясно дали понять: дальше нас ждут жаркие поединки.

Вообще, интересное замечание: все мысли, пришедшие мне в голову во время стартового уровня, впоследствии только подтвердились. Первая такова: где-то это я уже видел. Долго вспоминать не пришлось: начало Scarface почти полностью копирует финальный поединок великой GTA: Vice City (если, конечно, не брать в расчет сложность прохождения). Такое же построение особняка, схожая схема ближайшей местности и море противников повсюду. Плюс аналогичное управление героем. Вторая мысль приходит уже ближе к концу первого уровня: мне не дали разгуляться. При помощи многочисленных препятствий и невозможности прыгать (да-да, Тони не умеет прыгать! Неужели виноваты наркотики?) разработчики пускают игрока по определенному предначертанному пути. Списываем все на старт игры и погружаемся в мир с головой.

Итак, Тони Монтана цел и невредим. Что делать? Снова идти в забегаловку и батрачить целыми днями, занимаясь мытьем посуды? Это дело не для короля наркоимперии, пусть даже бывшего, и он предпринимает вторую попытку штурма кокаинового государства. Ответы на вопросы «как мы будем это делать?» и «как вообще играть?» дать очень просто, ибо концепция Scarface мало чем отличается от популярной серии Grand Theft Auto. Здесь все то же самое: картина мира перед игроком, в общем-то, легко описывается двумя словами: я и город. Бороздим доступные просторы, занимаемся, чем хотим, и взбираемся ввысь в бандитской иерархии. А теперь поподробнее.

Город не очень большой по размерам. Разделен он на четыре района, причем посетить можно сразу все. Но возвращаться на былые позиции мы будем все-таки систематически, подчиняя себе квартал за кварталом. Для того чтобы стать эдаким хозяином территории, нужно заработать репутацию. Это и есть главный параметр, на который мы всю игру будем обращать внимание. Репутация ключ к восстановлению наркоимперии Тони Монтана. При достижении определенного числа очков репутации повышается уровень (всего их восемь), а вместе с ним и наши возможности.

Очки зарабатываются, в первую очередь, выполнением миссий. Последние в большинстве случаев ставят перед игроком задачу присоединения новой «точки». Выполнив очередное подобное задание, получаем возможность купить эту самую «точку». Все просто и понятно для тех, кто не один день провел наедине с GTA (я имею в виду Vice City и San Andreas, именно они близки по духу к Scarface). Такое вот «пошаговое» прохождение каждого района, естественно, включает в себя еще много чего интересного, мы же живем в свободном городе и можем в любой момент заняться чем угодно. Расплывчатое «что угодно» имеет вполне конкретные примеры. Бродить без дела, теряясь в догадках по поводу своего занятия, геймеру не придется. При нажатии одной единственной кнопки вызывается меню список доступных действий, состоящий из различных частей. Таким образом, бегать из одного конца города в другой в поисках какого-либо предмета нужды нет, и можно выбрать себе дело по душе.

Деньги, деньги, дребеденьги…

Отличный способ заработать деньги торговля наркотой, причем как мелкая (простые операции с уличными дилерами), так и крупная (при наличии необходимого склада). Есть и другой род занятий: силовой. Защитить кого-нибудь от бандитов, положить нескольких гадов, избить до смерти с целью получения нужной информации таковы основные типы подобных заданий. Эти, с позволения сказать, побочные миссии тоже приносят Тони хоть и небольшое, но все-таки повышение репутации. Однако гораздо больше очков добавит приобретение так называемых Exotics. Это может быть очередная современная лодка (если хотите, яхта), новый суперскоростной кар или даже мебель (!) для резиденции Монтана. В пункте Exotics возможно еще и вложение инвестиций в какое-либо предприятие и (внимание!) наем людей. Собственно, завербовать можно троих: водителя, вышибалу и киллера. Для пущего разнообразия нам предоставили замечательную возможность влезть в шкуру каждого и заниматься их собственными делами, соответствующими «профессии». А когда надоест, перейти снова к Тони не составит труда, вырученные же деньги полностью идут в карман хозяина.

В городе для Тони Монтана найдется еще парочка дополнительных источников дохода. Так как довольно долгое время в Scarface мы будем проводить за рулем, со стороны разработчиков было бы глупо не сделать автомобильные соревнования, и они тут есть. Чтобы начать гонку, нужно всего лишь подъехать на одной из улиц к организатору. Стоит отметить, что чемпионаты на колесах удались на славу, причем неважно, с чем бороться: со временем, которое неумолимо тает, или с противниками, которые себя очень агрессивно ведут. Гонки в Scarface по интересности дадут фору даже многим современным рейсингам.

Стоит упомянуть и еще об одном способе заработка, носящем развлекательный характер. Речь идет о зеленых бумажках, выигрываемых в покер или на игровых автоматах. Добавка неплохая, но язык мой не провернет такой кульбит, чтобы назвать ее существенным элементом геймплея.

Такие разные половины

Конечно, не все так плохо и не совсем уж однообразно. Radical смогла вшить в геймплей Scarface несколько интересных (ну, по крайней мере, уместных) идей, которые позволяют игре представляться настоящим хитом хотя бы поначалу. И тут я не преувеличиваю. Разработчики добавили к репутации еще парочку параметров, как то: ярость гангстеров и ярость полиции. Если, к примеру, «кидать» своих деловых партнеров, увеличится первый параметр, что приведет в дальнейшем к враждебному отношению со стороны всех гангстеров (улучшить его можно удачными торговыми операциями). Отношение полиции к нам серьезно меняется в результате переговоров с копами (удачные-неудачные). Еще одна любопытная деталь: после смерти все деньги геймера и наркотики отбираются, а чтобы не потерять финансы, их можно положить в банк. Проценты могут быть разными, и снова это зависит от переговоров. В банке, кстати, возможно и сохранение.

Все эти идеи звучат опять-таки очень заманчиво, но на деле реализованы не так замечательно, как хотелось бы. Самое плохое заключается в том, что однообразие добралось и сюда. Разговоры с копами, переговоры в банке по поводу процентов, торговля наркотиками все это зависит исключительно от ловкости ваших рук. Разрешение ситуаций происходит в виде эдакой мини-игры, где главное отпустить клавишу вовремя. К середине прохождения такое безобразие уже начинает откровенно раздражать, скажу я вам.

Визуально Scarface очень и очень похожа на GTA: San Andreas. Наверное, это идеальный вариант для подобного проекта. Декорации выглядят не бедно, но и не шикарно. Тормозов никаких, все сделано в режиме максимального благоприятствования для игры. Этому способствует и великолепная озвучка. Правда, Аль Пачино хоть и предоставил свою внешность, но голоса его мы не услышим. Но, к счастью, пострадают фанаты несильно: актеры поработали на славу, и кубинский акцент Тони Монтана просто безупречен.

Ну и что мы видим? Многое в Scarface соответствует проекту высочайшего уровня. Многое, но не самое главное. Хочется сказать в адрес разработчиков фразу из фильма, произнесенную Сосой на встрече с Тони: «Don`t try to f**k me!». Не надо игроков обманывать, нехорошо это. Свобода, говорите? Да нет ее, это всего лишь иллюзия, мираж. Да, город, да, ходим и ездим, где душе угодно. А надо? Совсем нет, в Scarface банально неинтересно исследовать территорию, игровой мир. Потому что незачем, у нас все есть, нужны только лишь деньги. На первый взгляд, деятельность Тони насыщенная, разнообразная. Занимательно восстанавливать былую наркоимперию, выполняя миссии, нанимая людей, контролируя районы, торгуя наркотиками… Но не дальше, чем до середины прохождения, а потом все занятия наскучивают. Идея очень хорошая, фундамент есть, да и подобие живого мира тоже (окружающие реагируют на наши действия), нет главного достойной реализации.

Посмотреть на проект все-таки стоит, а вот серьезно увлечься им не получится. Как-нибудь в следующий раз.
