It falls back to sorting by highest score if no posts are trending.

You have already solved it yourself: you used three backticks in the title of your question. In Markdown (including here on SO), you can put three backticks around a block of code, and that makes it use the «code block» formatting.
You can just add a line containing the three backticks in front and back of your text:
The Code from Telegram Does Not Come
Messenger Telegram uses the option to verify the user using an SMS code. What it is and what difficulties may arise with it when receiving SMS from Telegram, you will find in this article.
What is SMS Code in Telegram
The SMS code in Telegram — is a way to verify the authenticity of the user. Thanks to this method, the user confirms that he is the owner of the Telegram account. Moreover, this verification method is reliable, since a permanent password can sooner or later be hacked, despite the level of its complexity. And a one-time SMS code reduces the chances of hackers to gain access to a Telegram user account.
The SMS code in Telegram is used when registering a new account, at the end of the last session, when replacing the phone number associated with the account, as well as when logging into an existing account on a new device.
For example, you have been using the messenger on your smartphone all the time, but there was a need to use it from a tablet or PC. In this case, when you enter your Telegram account from a new device, an SMS with a verification code will be sent to your mobile phone number to which Telegram is linked, which will need to be entered on the new device.
We will describe this procedure below. And now we want to draw your attention to several important nuances:
Next, we will take a closer look at when you need to use the SMS code in Telegram
When Telegram Sends SMS Code
So, there are four cases when the Telegram service sends a code to SMS.
Registering a New Account
When registering a new account, Telegram asks the user for a verification code. This code will be sent in an SMS notification to the phone number specified during registration. The notification will contain a five-digit number. If the user registers an account from a smartphone, the application automatically copies the code from the SMS notification. If registration happen from a PC, then the user will need to manually enter a five-digit code.
Sign in From a New Device
In this case, the SMS code is a way to verify the user. That is, in this way Telegram makes sure that it is you who are logging into your account from a new device, and not someone else.
It is worth noting here that when you log into your account from a tablet or PC, the verification code comes to the Telegram application on your smartphone. But there are times when there is no Internet on the smartphone or, for some reason, the Telegram application has been removed. Then it becomes necessary to use the code from the SMS.
To do this, when you log into your account on a new device, after you have provided a phone number (to which your account is linked), you need to select the «Send code via SMS» option in the login window. After that, an SMS code will be sent to your phone number.
End the Last Session
If you end the last session on your smartphone and log out of your account, then upon re-entering Telegram will ask for a verification code. In this case, you will receive a code in SMS. If you end the last session on your tablet or PC, then upon re-entering the verification code will automatically come in the Telegram application itself installed on your smartphone. If the application is not installed on the smartphone, then Telegram will send an SMS.
Only for this it will be necessary, again, as in the case of logging in from a new device, to select the «Send code via SMS» option.
Phone Number Change
When binding a new phone number to an existing Telegram account, the messenger will ask for a confirmation code for your actions. In this case, the code will also come in the form of an SMS notification.
The Code Does Not Come in SMS From Telegram
There are times when, with a certain procedure, whether it is registering a new account or logging in from a new device, when the SMS code from Telegram does not come. Let’s take a closer look at these problems and solutions to them.
When Registering a New Account
When registering a new account, SMS from Telegram may not come for the following reasons:
When Logging in From a New Device
When entering an existing account from a new device, the code in SMS from Telegram may not come in the following cases:
When No SMS Code is Required
The SMS code may not be required only if you left the application without ending the session. That is, you closed the application without leaving your account. No verification code is required when reopening the app.
As you can see, the aforementioned problems with the SMS code from Telegram are not difficult to solve. If you do not have time to delve into the problem and figure out why the SMS code does not come, you can always immediately contact the Telegram support service. But remember that the answer can be very long.

Telegram FAQ
This FAQ provides answers to basic questions about Telegram.
Check out our Advanced FAQ for more technical information.
Telegram keeps evolving and adding new features, so this document may contain outdated information. We expect to finish updating the FAQ, Bot Manuals, and other documents by the end of Summer 2022.
Telegram is a messaging app with a focus on speed and security, it’s super-fast, simple and free. You can use Telegram on all your devices at the same time — your messages sync seamlessly across any number of your phones, tablets or computers. Telegram has over 700 million monthly active users and is one of the 10 most downloaded apps in the world.
With Telegram, you can send messages, photos, videos and files of any type (doc, zip, mp3, etc), as well as create groups for up to 200,000 people or channels for broadcasting to unlimited audiences. You can write to your phone contacts and find people by their usernames. As a result, Telegram is like SMS and email combined — and can take care of all your personal or business messaging needs. In addition to this, we support end-to-end encrypted voice and video calls, as well as voice chats in groups for thousands of participants.
Telegram is for everyone who wants fast and reliable messaging and calls. Business users and small teams may like the large groups, usernames, desktop apps and powerful file sharing options.
Since Telegram groups can have up to 200,000 members, we support replies, mentions and hashtags that help maintain order and keep communication in large communities efficient. You can appoint admins with advanced tools to help these communities prosper in peace. Public groups can be joined by anyone and are powerful platforms for discussions and collecting feedback.
In case you’re more into pictures, Telegram has animated gif search, a state of the art photo editor, and an open sticker platform (find some cool stickers here or here). What’s more, there is no need to worry about disk space on your device. With Telegram’s cloud support and cache management options, Telegram can take up nearly zero space on your phone.
Those looking for extra privacy should check out our advanced settings and rather revolutionary policy. And if you want secrecy, try our device-specific Secret Chats with self-destructing messages, photos, and videos — and lock your app with an additional passcode.
We keep evolving — check out our Brief History of Telegram and follow us on twitter and Telegram to stay in touch.
Unlike WhatsApp, Telegram is a cloud-based messenger with seamless sync. As a result, you can access your messages from several devices at once, including tablets and computers, and share an unlimited number of photos, videos and files (doc, zip, mp3, etc.) of up to 2 GB each.
Telegram needs less than 100 MB on your device – you can keep all your media in the cloud without deleting things – simply clear your cache to free up space.
Thanks to Telegram’s multi-data center infrastructure and encryption, it is faster and way more secure. On top of that, private messaging on Telegram is free and will stay free — no ads, no subscription fees, forever.
Telegram’s API and code is open, and developers are welcome to create their own Telegram apps. We also have a Bot API, a platform for developers that allows anyone to easily build specialized tools for Telegram, integrate any services, and even accept payments from users around the world.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Telegram for iOS was launched on August 14, 2013. The alpha version of Telegram for Android officially launched on October 20, 2013. More and more Telegram clients appear, built by independent developers using Telegram’s open platform.
You can use Telegram on smartphones, tablets, and even computers. We have apps for iOS (9.0 and above), Android (6.0 and up), a native macOS app and a universal desktop app for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Telegram Web can also help to quickly do something on the go.
You can log in to Telegram from as many of your devices as you like — all at the same time. Just use your main mobile phone number to log in everywhere, your cloud chats will sync instantly.
The Telegram API is open for developers, should you want to build your own applications for other platforms.
Telegram is supported by Pavel Durov and his brother Nikolai. Pavel supports Telegram financially and ideologically while Nikolai’s input is technological. To make Telegram possible, Nikolai developed a unique custom data protocol, which is open, secure and optimized for work with multiple data-centers. As a result, Telegram combines security, reliability and speed on any network.
The Telegram development team is based in Dubai.
Most of the developers behind Telegram originally come from St. Petersburg, the city famous for its unprecedented number of highly skilled engineers. The Telegram team had to leave Russia due to local IT regulations and has tried a number of locations as its base, including Berlin, London and Singapore. We’re currently happy with Dubai, although are ready to relocate again if local regulations change.
No. See this post for details.
We believe in fast and secure messaging that is also 100% free.
Our founder and CEO Pavel Durov, who financed Telegram throughout most of its history, has outlined a strategy to make Telegram sustainable in this post.
While Telegram will introduce monetization in 2021 to pay for the infrastructure and developer salaries, making profits will never be an end-goal for us.
We think that the two most important components of Internet privacy should be:
Telegram’s aim is to create a truly free messenger, with a revolutionary privacy policy.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force in Europe on May 25, 2018. Since taking back our right to privacy was the reason we made Telegram, there wasn’t much we had to change. We don’t use your data for ad targeting, we don’t sell it to others, and we’re not part of any mafia family “family of companies.”
Telegram only keeps the information it needs to function as a feature-rich cloud service. For example, your cloud chats – so that you can access them from any devices without using third-party backups, or your contacts – so that you can rely on your existing social graph when messaging people on Telegram. Please see our Privacy Policy for more information.
All Telegram chats and group chats are private amongst their participants. We do not process any requests related to them.
But sticker sets, channels, and bots on Telegram are publicly available. If you find sticker sets or bots on Telegram that you think are illegal, please ping us at abuse@telegram.org.
You can also use the ‘report’ buttons right inside our apps, see this post on our official @ISISwatch channel for details.
Note: If a scammer is pretending to be you, contact @NoToScam
The Regulation (EU) 2021/784 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2021 on addressing the dissemination of terrorist content online (Terrorist Content Online Regulation, or TCO) allows authorities in EU countries to send removal requests for terrorist content, if it is discovered on Telegram’s public platform. To reach the Telegram team with TCO-related requests, competent EU authorities can send the /tco_contact command to @GDPRbot.
Users whose publications were taken down in connection with the EU Regulation 2021/784 can contact @GDPRbot and use the command /tco_ask to ask why their publications were considered terrorist and how to challenge the removal.
All Telegram chats and group chats are private amongst their participants. We do not process any requests related to them. But sticker sets, channels, and bots on Telegram are publicly available.
If you see a bot, channel, or sticker set that is infringing on your copyright, kindly submit a complaint to dmca@telegram.org. Please note that such requests should only be submitted by the copyright owner or an agent authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
User-uploaded stickers sets, channels, and bots by third-party developers are not part of the core Telegram UI. Whenever we receive a complaint at abuse@telegram.org or dmca@telegram.org regarding the legality of public content, we perform the necessary legal checks and take it down when deemed appropriate.
Please note that this does not apply to local restrictions on freedom of speech. For example, if criticizing the government is illegal in some country, Telegram won’t be a part of such politically motivated censorship. This goes against our founders’ principles. While we do block terrorist (e.g. ISIS-related) bots and channels, we will not block anybody who peacefully expresses alternative opinions.
If you think we banned your bot, channel, or sticker set for no apparent reasons, drop us a line at abuse@telegram.org.
Secret chats use end-to-end encryption, thanks to which we don’t have any data to disclose.
To protect the data that is not covered by end-to-end encryption, Telegram uses a distributed infrastructure. Cloud chat data is stored in multiple data centers around the globe that are controlled by different legal entities spread across different jurisdictions. The relevant decryption keys are split into parts and are never kept in the same place as the data they protect. As a result, several court orders from different jurisdictions are required to force us to give up any data.
Thanks to this structure, we can ensure that no single government or block of like-minded countries can intrude on people’s privacy and freedom of expression. Telegram can be forced to give up data only if an issue is grave and universal enough to pass the scrutiny of several different legal systems around the world.
To this day, we have disclosed 0 bytes of user data to third parties, including governments.
You can write to people who are in your phone contacts and have Telegram. Another way of contacting people is to type their Telegram username into the search field – you don’t need to know their phone number to do this.
People can contact you on Telegram if they know your phone number or if you message them first.
If they don’t know your phone number, they can find you in these cases:
Your contacts, who have Telegram, are shown at the top of your Contacts. They also have pictures.
Android: Open the app menu (swipe right in chat list) > Invite Friends. Then choose an application via which you would like to send out invitations.
You can give your friends a t.me link with your username so that they can easily find you on Telegram even if they don’t have your phone number.
One check — message delivered to the Telegram cloud and your friend has been notified if he allows notifications.
Two checks — message read (your friend opened Telegram and opened the conversation with the message).
We don’t have a ‘delivered to device’ status for messages because Telegram can run on as many devices as you want. So which particular one would that check mean?
You can choose who sees this info in Privacy and Security settings.
Remember that you won’t see Last Seen timestamps for people with whom you don’t share your own. You will, however, see an approximate last seen value. This keeps stalkers away but makes it possible to understand whether a person is reachable over Telegram. There are four possible approximate values:
The last seen rules apply to your online status as well. People can only see you online if you’re sharing your last seen status with them.
There are some exceptions because sometimes it is obvious that you are online. Regardless of the last seen settings, people will see you online for a brief period (
30 seconds) if you do the following:
If you’re not sharing your last seen timestamp with someone and don’t do anything of the above, they’ll never see you online. Another way of achieving this is to block that person.
People Nearby is an optional feature that allows Telegram users to explore local groups, find friends to chat with in their area, or quickly exchange contacts with people who are close.
You can find it in Contacts > Find People Nearby, as well as directly in the side menu on Android.
While you have the People Nearby section open on your screen, people who are very close will be able to see you there. If you don’t open the section, others will never see you in ‘People Nearby’.
Note: People Nearby is never turned on by default – users must manually enable it. If you are receiving messages from someone you don’t know, see Q: Who can contact me?
You can also choose to permanently add your profile to the list of nearby people by tapping Make Myself Visible. After becoming visible, you can remove your profile from the list at any time by tapping Stop Showing Me.
To protect user privacy, ‘People Nearby’ always shows distances to approximate locations. As of February 2022, these distances are offset by 700 meters (previously 100 meters).
Yes. You can always delete any messages you sent or received for both sides in any one-on-one conversation (in groups, it’s still your own messages only). You can also clear the entire chat history on both ends. On Telegram, deleted messages do not leave a mark in the chat.
Together with privacy settings for forwarded messages, this makes exchanging Telegram messages similar to talking face to face (without a tape recorder). As a result, users no longer need to worry about the data accumulating in their chats over the years. Both parties in a conversation have full control over what does and what doesn’t belong to their online identity.
Yes! You can make end-to-end encrypted Voice Calls and Video Calls.
If you want more participants, try starting a Voice Chat in one of the groups you created. Voice Chats add a live layer of ephemeral talk to the group. They can be used as virtual office spaces for teams or informal lounges for any community. While Voice Chats are not group calls, they can achieve similar goals.
Type one word in your input field to get relevant emoji suggestions. You can also type “:” followed by any keyword to open emoji search – like :heart.
You can suggest missing keywords for emoji in your language using this interface (this will open suggestions for English, don’t forget to change to your language in the left menu).
Telegram groups can have up to 200,000 members each and are extremely powerful communication tools. Here are a few key features that make them stand out in the messaging world:
Unified history
Edit your messages after posting, delete them so that they disappear for everyone.
Cross-platform availability
Access your messages anytime, from any number of your mobile or desktop devices.
Instant search
Find the message you’re looking for, even among millions. Filter by sender to make searching easier.
Replies, mentions, hashtags
Easily trace a conversation and keep communication efficient, no matter the group size.
Smart notifications
Mute the group to get notifications only when people mention you or reply to your messages.
Pinned messages
You can pin any message to be displayed at the top of the chat screen. All members will get a notification — even if they muted ordinary messages from your group.
Moderation tools
Appoint administrators that can mass-delete messages, control membership, and pin important messages. Define their admin privileges with granular precision.
Group permissions
Set default permissions to restrict all members from posting specific kinds of content. Or even restrict members from sending messages altogether – and let the admins chat amongst themselves while everybody else is watching.
File sharing
Send and receive files of any type, up to 2 GB in size each, access them instantly on your other devices.
Public groups
Get a short link for your group and make it public, like t.me/publictestgroup. This way, anybody can view the group’s entire chat history and join to post messages.
Customization via bots
Create custom tools for any specific needs using our Bot API and Inline Bots.
Telegram groups are ideal for sharing stuff with friends and family or collaboration in small teams. But groups can also grow very large and support communities of up to 200,000 members. You can make any group public, toggle persistent history to control whether or not new members have access to earlier messages and appoint administrators with granular privileges. You can also pin important messages to the top of the screen so that all members can see them, including those who have just joined.
Channels are a tool for broadcasting messages to large audiences. In fact, a channel can have an unlimited number of subscribers. When you post in a channel, the message is signed with the channel’s name and photo and not your own. Each message in a channel has a view counter that gets updated when the message is viewed, including its forwarded copies.

It is easy to migrate existing groups to Telegram by sending people an invite link. To create an invite link, go to Group Info > Add Member > Invite to Group via Link.
Anyone who has Telegram installed will be able to join your group by following this link. If you choose to revoke the link, it will stop working immediately.
You can set up a public username on Telegram. It then becomes possible for other users to find you by that username — you will appear in contacts search under ‘global results’. Please note that people who find you will be able to send you messages, even if they don’t know your number. If you are not comfortable with this, we advise against setting up a username in Telegram.
You can set up a username in Settings and use the universal search box in the chat list to search for chats, messages, and usernames.
Once you’ve set up a username, you can give people a t.me/username link. Opening that link on their phone will automatically fire up their Telegram app and open a chat with you. You can share username links with friends, write them on business cards or put them up on your website.
This way people can contact you on Telegram without knowing your phone number.
You can use a-z, 0-9 and underscores. Usernames are case-insensitive, but Telegram will store your capitalization preferences (e.g. Telegram and TeleGram is the same user). The username must be at least five characters long.
You don’t have to get one. Remember that Telegram usernames are public and choosing a username on Telegram makes it possible for people to find you in global search and send you messages even if they don’t have your number. If you are not comfortable with this, we advise against setting up a username.
No. Neither party will see another’s phone number (unless this is permitted by your privacy settings). This is similar to the case when you message a person who you’ve met in a Telegram group.
Go to Settings and save an empty username. This will remove your username; people will no longer be able to find you via search. This will not affect existing conversations.
Telegram usernames are distributed on a first come — first serve basis.
We understand that certain usernames are part of an online identity for some of us. If your desired username is already taken, we will be happy to help you acquire it for your account or channel, provided that you have that same username on at least two of these services: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
Due to the fact that one account can register multiple bot and channel usernames, we reserve the right to recall usernames assigned to unused bots and channels, as well as openly squatted usernames.
To request a username, contact @Username_bot.
If a scammer is pretending to be you, please contact @NoToScam.
If you are an advanced user, you may find our FAQ for the Technically Inclined useful as well.
Telegram is more secure than mass market messengers like WhatsApp and Line. We are based on the MTProto protocol (see description and advanced FAQ), built upon time-tested algorithms to make security compatible with high-speed delivery and reliability on weak connections. We are continuously working with the community to improve the security of our protocol and clients.
We’ve got you covered. Telegram’s special secret chats use end-to-end encryption, leave no trace on our servers, support self-destructing messages and don’t allow forwarding. On top of this, secret chats are not part of the Telegram cloud and can only be accessed on their devices of origin.
We support two layers of secure encryption. Server-client encryption is used in Cloud Chats (private and group chats), Secret Chats use an additional layer of client-client encryption. All data, regardless of type, is encrypted in the same way — be it text, media or files.
Our encryption is based on 256-bit symmetric AES encryption, 2048-bit RSA encryption, and Diffie–Hellman secure key exchange. You can find more info in the Advanced FAQ.
Telegram is open, anyone can check our source code, protocol and API, see how everything works and make an informed decision. Telegram supports verifiable builds, which allow experts to independently verify that our code published on GitHub is the exact same code that is used to build the apps you download from App Store or Google Play.
We welcome security experts to audit our system and appreciate any feedback at security@telegram.org.
On top of that, Telegram’s primary focus is not to bring a profit, so commercial interests will never interfere with our mission.
When it comes to secret chats, you don’t — just make sure that the visualized key of your secret chat matches the one in your friend’s secret chat settings. More about this below.
Any comments on Telegram’s security are welcome at security@telegram.org. All submissions which result in a change of code or configuration are eligible for bounties, ranging from $100 to $100,000 or more, depending on the severity of the issue. Please note that we can not offer bounties for issues that are disclosed to the public before they are fixed.
Telegram can help when it comes to data transfer and secure communication. This means that all data (including media and files) that you send and receive via Telegram cannot be deciphered when intercepted by your internet service provider, owners of Wi-Fi routers you connect to, or other third parties.
But please remember that we cannot protect you from your own mother if she takes your unlocked phone without a passcode. Or from your IT-department if they access your computer at work. Or from any other people that get physical or root access to your phones or computers running Telegram.
If you have reasons to worry about your personal security, we strongly recommend using only Secret Chats in official or at least verifiable open-source apps for sensitive information, preferably with a self-destruct timer. We also recommend enabling 2-Step Verification and setting up a strong passcode to lock your app, you will find both options in Settings > Privacy and Security.
Logging in with an SMS code is an industry standard in messaging, but if you’re looking for more security or have reasons to doubt your mobile carrier or government, we recommend protecting your cloud chats with an additional password.
You can do this in Settings > Privacy and Security > 2-Step Verification. Once enabled, you will need both an SMS code and a password to log in. You can also set up a recovery email address that will help regain access, should you forget your password. If you do so, please remember that it’s important that the recovery email account is also protected with a strong password and 2-Step Verification when possible.
Check this out for tips on creating a strong password that is easy to remember.
Using a rooted or jailbroken device makes it easier for a potential attacker to gain full administrative control over your device — root access.
A user with root access can easily bypass security features built into the operating system, read process memory or access restricted areas, such as the internal storage. Once an attacker has root access, any efforts to mitigate threats become futile. No application can be called safe under these circumstances, no matter how strong the encryption.
Secret chats are meant for people who want more secrecy than the average fella. All messages in secret chats use end-to-end encryption. This means only you and the recipient can read those messages — nobody else can decipher them, including us here at Telegram (more on this here). On top of this, Messages cannot be forwarded from secret chats. And when you delete messages on your side of the conversation, the app on the other side of the secret chat will be ordered to delete them as well.
You can order your messages, photos, videos and files to self-destruct in a set amount of time after they have been read or opened by the recipient. The message will then disappear from both your and your friend’s devices.
All secret chats in Telegram are device-specific and are not part of the Telegram cloud. This means you can only access messages in a secret chat from their device of origin. They are safe for as long as your device is safe in your pocket.
Open the profile of the user you want to contact. Tap on ‘…’, then ‘Start Secret Chat’.
Remember that Telegram secret chats are device-specific. If you start a secret chat with a friend on one of your devices, this chat will only be available on that device. If you log out, you will lose all your secret chats. You can create as many different secret chats with the same contact as you like.
The Self-Destruct Timer is available for all messages in Secret Chats and for media in private cloud chats.
To set the timer, simply tap the clock icon (in the input field on iOS, top bar on Android), and then choose the desired time limit. The clock starts ticking the moment the message is displayed on the recipient’s screen (gets two check marks). As soon as the time runs out, the message disappears from both devices. We will try to send a notification if a screenshot is taken.
Please note that the timer in Secret Chats only applies to messages that were sent after the timer was set. It has no effect on earlier messages.
Unfortunately, there is no bulletproof way of detecting screenshots on certain systems (most notably, some Android and Windows Phone devices). We will make every effort to alert you about screenshots taken in your Secret Chats, but it may still be possible to bypass such notifications and take screenshots silently. We advise to share sensitive information only with people you trust. After all, nobody can stop a person from taking a picture of their screen with a different device or an old school camera.
When a secret chat is created, the participating devices exchange encryption keys using the so-called Diffie-Hellman key exchange. After the secure end-to-end connection has been established, we generate a picture that visualizes the encryption key for your chat. You can then compare this image with the one your friend has — if the two images are the same, you can be sure that the secret chat is secure, and no man-in-the-middle attack can succeed.
Newer versions of Telegram apps will show a larger picture along with a textual representation of the key (this is not the key itself, of course!) when both participants are using an updated app.
Always compare visualizations using a channel that is known to be secure — it’s safest if you do this in person, in an offline meeting with the conversation partner.
All Telegram messages are always securely encrypted. Messages in Secret Chats use client-client encryption, while Cloud Chats use client-server/server-client encryption and are stored encrypted in the Telegram Cloud (more here). This enables your cloud messages to be both secure and immediately accessible from any of your devices – even if you lose your device altogether.
The problem of restoring access to your chat history on a newly connected device (e.g. when you lose your phone) does not have an elegant solution in the end-to-end encryption paradigm. At the same time, reliable backups are an essential feature for any mass-market messenger. To solve this problem, some applications (like Whatsapp and Viber) allow decryptable backups that put their users’ privacy at risk – even if they do not enable backups themselves. Other apps ignore the need for backups altogether and leave their users vulnerable to data loss.
We opted for a third approach by offering two distinct types of chats. Telegram disables default system backups and provides all users with an integrated security-focused backup solution in the form of Cloud Chats. Meanwhile, the separate entity of Secret Chats gives you full control over the data you do not want to be stored.
This allows Telegram to be widely adopted in broad circles, not just by activists and dissidents, so that the simple fact of using Telegram does not mark users as targets for heightened surveillance in certain countries. We are convinced that the separation of conversations into Cloud and Secret chats represents the most secure solution currently possible for a massively popular messaging application.
On Telegram, you can send messages in private chats and groups without making your phone number visible. By default, your number is only visible to people who you’ve added to your address book as contacts. You can further modify this in Settings > Privacy and Security > Phone Number.
Note that people will always see your number if they know it already and saved it in their address book.
Each phone number is a separate account on Telegram. You have several options if you are using multiple phone numbers:
Most users don’t need to log out of Telegram:
If you do want to log out for some reason, here’s how you do that:
iOS: Go to Settings > Edit > Log out.
Android, Telegram Desktop: Go to Settings > … (in the top right corner) > Log out.
If you log out, you will keep all your cloud messages. However, you will lose all your Secret Chats and all messages inside those secret chats when you log out.
Note that logging out does not trigger remote deletion of your secret chat messages on your partner’s device — to do that, choose ‘Clear History’ first.
You can change your number in Telegram and keep everything, including all your contacts, messages, and media from the Telegram cloud, as well as all your Secret Chats on all devices.
To change your number, go to Settings, then tap on your phone number (just above the username), then ‘Change Number’. If you already have a different Telegram account on the target number, you’ll need to delete that account first.
If you would like to delete your account, you can do this on the deactivation page. Deleting your account permanently removes all your messages and contacts. All groups and channels that you’ve created are orphaned and left without a creator but admins retain their rights.
This action must be confirmed via your Telegram account and cannot be undone.
We recommend using a non-mobile browser for this process.
Note that you’ll receive the code via Telegram, not SMS.
As was just mentioned above, all your data will be flushed from our system: all messages, groups, and contacts associated with your account will be deleted. That said, your contacts will still be able to chat in the groups that you have created, and they will still have their copy of the messages you sent them. So if you want to send messages that can vanish without a trace, try using our self-destruct timer instead.
Termination of a Telegram account is irreversible. If you sign up again, you will appear as a new user and will not get your history, contacts or groups back. People, who have your phone number in their contacts, will be notified. The new user will be displayed as a separate conversation in their messages list and their conversation history with this new user will be empty.
Telegram is not a commercial organization, and we value our disk space greatly. If you stop using Telegram and don’t come online for at least six months, your account will be deleted along with all messages, media, contacts and every other piece of data you store in the Telegram cloud. You can change the exact period after which your inactive account will self-destruct in Settings.
First of all, sorry about your phone. Unfortunately, the phone number is the only way for us to identify a Telegram user at the moment. We don’t collect additional information about you, so whoever has the number, has the account. This means we can’t help you unless you have access either to the phone number or to Telegram itself on any of your devices.
Common thieves usually throw out the SIM card immediately (the phone is harder to locate this way), then wipe the devices and sell them, so there isn’t much risk for the data in case of regular petty theft. But if you have reasons to worry about the data on the device and are unable to log out the other device, it is best that you wipe it remotely. You can read more about it here: Apple iOS, Android. Unfortunately, this requires you to have prepared in advance for this scenario.
You can delete your Telegram account if you are logged in on at least one of your other devices (mobile or desktop). Note that inactive Telegram accounts self-destruct automatically after a period of time — 6 months being the default setting.
If you’re a developer, you may find our Bots FAQ more useful.
Bots are like small programs that run right inside Telegram. They are made by third-party developers using the Telegram Bot API.
Creating Telegram bots is super-easy, but you will need at least some skills in computer programming. If you’re sure you’re up to it, our Introduction for Developers is a good place to start.
Unfortunately, there are no out-of-the-box ways to create a working bot if you are not a developer. But we’re sure you’ll soon find plenty of bots created by other people to play with.
If you don’t want a bot to send you messages, feel free to block it – same as you would block a human user. Some Telegram clients have a ‘Stop Bot’ button right in the bot’s profile.
That said, most bot developers offer commands that silence the bot, check its /help for clues.
Yes. Bots are no different from human users that you meet in groups for example. They can see your public name, username, and profile pictures, and they can see messages you send to them, that’s it. They can’t access your last seen status and don’t see your phone number (unless you decide to give it to them yourself).
Naturally, any bot should be treated as a stranger — don’t give them your passwords, Telegram codes or bank account numbers, even if they ask nicely. Also, be careful when opening files sent by bots, same as you would deal with ordinary humans. Example: If a bot sent us a file called OpenMe.exe, we probably wouldn’t open it.
Bots can work in two modes when you add them to groups. By default, bots only see messages that are meant for them. In this case, you’ll see ‘has no access to messages’ in the group members list next to the bot.
Some bots need more information to work, so developers may disable the privacy mode. In this case, the bot will see all messages sent to the group, and you will see ‘has access to messages’ in the members list next to the bot.
If your group contains very sensitive information, maybe it’s better to avoid adding bots you don’t trust 100%.
No. While we have some official bots for specific purposes (like @gif or @GDPRbot), we don’t usually make bots. Bots are made by third-party developers using the Telegram Bot API and platform.
There is no official store at the moment, so you’ll have to ask your friends or search the web for now. We’re pretty sure you’ll find some bots to play with.
All Telegram client apps are fully open source. We offer verifiable builds both for iOS and Android – this technology allows to independently verify that the application you download from the app stores was built using the exact same code that we publish.
By contrast, publishing the server code doesn’t provide security guarantees neither for Secret Chats nor for Cloud Chats. This is because – unlike with the client-side code – there’s no way to verify that the same code is run on the servers.
As for Secret Chats, you don’t need the server-side code to check their integrity – the point of end-to-end encryption is that it must be solid regardless of how the servers function.
In a post on his channel, Pavel Durov explained why Telegram hasn’t published the server code, even as a publicity stunt.
The encryption and API used on Telegram’s servers are fully documented and open for review by security experts. We welcome any comments at security@telegram.org
Our architecture does not support federation yet. Telegram is a unified cloud service, so creating forks where two users might end up on two different Telegram clouds is unacceptable. To enable you to run your own Telegram server while retaining both speed and security is a task in itself. At the moment, we are undecided on whether or not Telegram should go in this direction.
Yes. Developers for all platforms are welcome to use our protocol, API and even source code. Check out the Getting started section of the docs.
Don’t forget about our Bot API that lets you build cool stuff on our platform.
Sure. Check this out.
Apple created privacy sheets to inform users about what data apps may collect, but information there is vague and can be misleading. You can see a detailed explanation of Telegram’s sheet here.
One is our app for macOS, the other is Telegram Lite, the macOS version of our multi-platform client. Both apps are official. Both started out as unofficial applications by two different developers and vary in design and functionality.
Telegram for macOS supports many platform-specific features, such as the MacBook Pro Touch Bar, gesture navigation, integration with the Mac’s Share menu and more. It has every feature from the iOS version of the app including Secret Chats.
Telegram Lite is a lightning-fast app, optimized for work-related tasks and handling large communities. It offers a three-column interface, perfect for multitasking and quick access to media, files and links shared in your chats. This app can also be used to export your Telegram data and chats.
Telegram is officially available in English, Spanish, German, Dutch, Italian, French, Arabic, Portuguese, Korean, Malay, Russian and Ukrainian on most platforms, and we are gradually expanding the list of languages built into the apps.
If you don’t like how a specific element in Telegram’s interface is translated in your language, or would like to help us maintain the translation, check out our localization platform. Everyone can suggest translations and vote for the best ones, making Telegram localization a community-driven effort.
If you’re looking to go beyond suggestions for individual phrases and would like to help us maintain the official translation to your language on a continuous basis, you can contact @TelegramAuditions. Please include a hashtag with the English name of your language (e.g. #Albanian) and a few links to phrases on this platform with your translation suggestions or comments. Be sure to read the Style Guide carefully before you apply.
Yes, we are always looking for volunteers to help us with user support. If you would be interested in answering questions about Telegram to users from your country, contact our auditions account.
Before you apply, please check out the Telegram Support Initiative.
Telegram Passport is a unified authorization method for services that require personal identification. With Telegram Passport, you can upload your documents once, then instantly share your data with services that require real-world ID (finance, ICOs, etc.).
Your identity documents and personal data will be stored in the Telegram cloud using End-to-End Encryption. To Telegram, this data is just random gibberish, and we have no access to the information you store in your Telegram Passport. When you share data, it goes directly to the recipient.
You can find more information about Telegram Passport on our blog.
If you’re a developer or owner of a service that requires real-life ID, kindly take a look at this manual. You can also try requesting Telegram Passport data using this page.
Please make sure you are entering your mobile phone number in the international format.
I.e.: +(country code)(city or carrier code)(your number)
If you are having registration or login problems, please contact us using this form.
For security reasons, login codes dictated via a phone call are only available for accounts that have two-step verification enabled (Settings > Privacy & Security > Two-Step Verification).
Please also note that Telegram accounts can only be connected to a mobile number. We currently don’t support landline numbers.
If you have recently used one of our apps on another device (it could also be a different app on the same device), we may send the login code via Telegram instead of SMS.
To receive such a code, just check Telegram from any of your connected devices. You will find it in the chat with Telegram, a verified profile with a blue check:
Login code sent via Telegram
WARNING! Please note that getting codes via Telegram should not be considered an alternative to using an up-to-date phone number. In case of a change in numbers, always make sure Telegram is connected to a phone number you control, otherwise you risk losing access to your account forever.
ANDROID
NOTE: Huawei and Xiaomi devices have evil task killer services that interfere with the Telegram notification service. For our notifications to work, you need to add Telegram to allowed apps in those devices’ security settings. Huawei: Phone Manager App > Protected Apps > Add Telegram to the list. Xiaomi: Services > Security > Permissions > Autostart, find Telegram and enable autostart.
iOS
If you know your friends have Telegram, but you can’t see them — or they appear as numbers instead of names.
To delete a contact, open a chat with the person, tap the title in the top area of the chat screen to open their profile, then tap on (⋮) in the top right corner > ‘Delete contact’.
If you want to delete the contact completely, make sure you also delete them from your phone contacts. Telegram stays in sync and will add the contact back if you don’t.
Secret Chats are established between the two devices they were created on. This means that all those messages are not available in the cloud and cannot be accessed on other devices.
Moreover, Secret Chats are also tied to your current login session on the device. If you log out and in again, you will lose all your Secret Chats.
When users report unwanted messages from a Telegram account, we apply a limit: Reported accounts can only send messages to people who have their number saved as a contact.
This means that if you randomly contact people you don’t know and send them annoying messages, you may lose the ability to do so in the future.
If you think that this limit was applied to your account wrongly, please visit this page.
Telegram can use the microphone in the background if you minimize the app when making a call, recording a video, or recording a voice/video message.
Permission monitors on Samsung and Xiaomi can inadvertently flag and notify you that Telegram requested access to camera in the background. This happens when the app requests info about the camera — it isn’t using the camera. Unfortunately it may look the same to the Samsung and Xiaomi permission monitors.
Camera info is requested by the app when you tap on the attachment button, or start recording a video or a video message. If you do this and quickly close the app, the already initiated request may try to run asynchronously when the app is already in the background, or be sent when the system wakes up the app to show a notification about a new message. In any case, these requests are only for the camera info, the app never uses the camera itself in the background.
Anyone can check Telegram’s open source code and confirm that the app is not doing anything behind their back. We also offer reproducible builds that can help you prove that the version you downloaded from App Store or Google Play is built from the exact same source code we publish.
If you have any other questions, please contact Telegram Support (in Telegram go to Settings — Ask a question). Note that we rely on volunteers for support.

Each message in a channel has a view counter that gets updated when the message is viewed, including its forwarded copies.
iOS: Start a new message (tap the icon in the top right corner in Chats) > ‘New Group’.
Android: Tap the circular pencil icon in the chat list > ‘New Group’.
Telegram Desktop: Click the menu button in the top left corner > ‘New Group’.
You can add administrators to help you manage your group and define their privileges with granular precision.
iOS: Go to Group Info (tap the photo in the top right corner on the group‘s chat screen) > Edit > Administrators.
Android: Go to Group Info (tap the name in the header) > the pencil icon (in the top right corner) > Administrators.
Telegram Desktop: When in the group, click ‘…’ in the top right corner > Manage group > Administrators.
You can add your contacts, or using search by username.

Be careful, we don’t have any other support accounts on any social media platforms.
If anyone on Facebook or any other platform is telling you they’re us, they are not.
Taking Back Our Right to Privacy
For us, your private data is sacred. We never use your data to target ads. We never disclose your data to third parties. We store only what is absolutely necessary for Telegram to work.
In 2013, we gave millions of people power over their data with end-to-end encryption.
Today, we are giving hundreds of millions of users complete control of any private conversation they have ever had. You can now choose to delete any message you have sent or received for both sides in any private chat. The messages will disappear for both you and the other person – without leaving a trace.
The “Unsend” feature we introduced 2 years ago was only available for messages sent by you and only for 48 hours. Now you can remove messages you have sent or received, and there is no time limit. You can also fully delete any private chat from both your and the other person’s device in just two taps.
To make your privacy complete, we’ve also introduced a way to restrict who can forward your messages. When this setting is enabled, messages you send that are forwarded by another user will no longer lead to your profile – instead they will show your display name in plain unlinked text. This way the messages you send can’t be used to verify that you were their author.
You can enable this option in Settings > Privacy and Security > Forwarded Messages.
By the way, you can now also restrict who can view your profile photos.
Since the Settings section keeps getting bigger, we’ve added a search tool that allows you to quickly find the settings you’re looking for.
You can also use this tool to find answers for Telegram-related questions based on our FAQ.
GIF and Sticker Search has been upgraded on all mobile platforms – with an updated interface that looks better (and finds more cats). You can press and hold to preview a GIF before sending.
Sticker packs now have unique icons, which makes it easier to select the right set. Large GIFs and video messages on Telegram are now streamed, so you can start watching them without waiting for them to fully download.
On Telegram for Android, you can now use keywords in many languages to find a specific emoji. If we are missing a keyword for an emoji, you’re welcome to suggest it here – emoji search results will constantly update and improve in real time, without the need to update your Telegram app.
You’ll also see a list of related emoji when typing a message. If you like an emoji enough to send it without any accompanying text, the emoji will appear larger in the chat.
We’ve added support for screen-reading features – VoiceOver on iOS and TalkBack on Android. These accessibility platforms give spoken feedback so that you can use Telegram without needing to see the screen.
Tell us what you think the next update should be.

The Telegram Team
Translating Telegram
We’ve worked hard to make Telegram’s English version as smooth as possible in terms of language. Now we’re looking for equally smooth translations into the rest of the world’s languages. If you’re a linguist, pro translator or language geek and would like to help us get closer to perfection, you’ve come to the right place.
To get started, simply log in, find a phrase in your language that you can improve and suggest a new translation – or vote for an existing suggestion. As soon as your suggestions are reviewed and accepted, the new phrases become immediately available in Telegram apps, no updates required.
We’re gradually expanding the list of languages available to all users from the “Language” menu in their apps. If you would like to help us maintain the official translation to your language on a continuous basis, see this page.
We think a good translation should be:
The same things need to have the same names everywhere. Not just within one app, but also on all platforms. Telegram features should have the same names on Android, iOS, Windows and macOS – unless they have to do with platform defaults. For system features, we should always use platform defaults (unless they are truly ugly or don’t fit).
You don’t have to always stick to the English original. Sometimes it makes more sense to simply describe what the app does in your own language.
But please don’t get carried away:
It’s no longer 2001 and our users have seen many other apps. It will be much easier for them to use Telegram if familiar concepts have familiar names here. Whenever you’re looking for a word, focus on those that people are used to seeing in relevant context. What does Apple use in this case? What does Google use? What do Telegram’s main competitors in your region use?
Use good language that would make the app look as if it was built in your region. Respect your language’s grammar and style where possible. Avoid abbreviations. Try to find ways around gender problems instead of going for things like o(a), unless the workaround looks even more awkward. In most cases it’s possible to find a way of saying anything without hurting the language.
This last one is never easy. Sometimes you need to look to the surrounding phrases and change them for the problematic phrase to fit and work.
An example: the German team couldn’t make the secret chats description fit into the lines on an empty chat page. The English text says: ‘A user has invited you to a secret chat. Secret chats:’ then comes a list that has this item: ‘use end-to-end encryption’. The maximum length for the list items is 25 characters. The problem with German is that the term for end-to-end encryption is ‘Ende-zu-Ende Verschlüsselung’ and is 28 characters long even without the ‘use’. An anglicized version would have been ‘End-to-end Verschlüsselung’ — but it’s still too long at 26 characters.
What we’re looking for is not just linguistic, but also typographic and aesthetic correctness. The text is inseparable from design. Text is design and we need to make sure it works. So approach the text as a magazine editor would:
This takes some effort, but it really makes you feel proud when you’re done.
On the whole, we’ve worked hard to make the English version as typographically sound as possible. So as a rule of thumb, if your phrase is the same length as the English one, it will fit well. If it is shorter — not too much of a problem, but beware of hanging words and gaps.
Note for iPhone Plus users: When checking strings in-app, try iOS Settings > Display & Brightness > View > ‘Zoomed’. Using this mode you can make sure that strings will fit the screens of the narrower models.
And that‘s about it. Let’s bring perfection to the localized versions of Telegram, together.

Telegram Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy sets out how we, Telegram Messenger Inc. (“Telegram”), use and protect your personal data that you provide to us, or that is otherwise obtained or generated by us, in connection with your use of our cloud-based messaging services (the “Services”). For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, ‘we’, ‘us’ and ‘our’ refers to Telegram, and ‘you’ refers to you, the user of the Services.
Telegram has two fundamental principles when it comes to collecting and processing private data:
This Privacy Policy explains the following:
If you live in a country in the European Economic Area (EEA), the Services are provided by Telegram, which for the purposes of applicable data protection legislation is the data controller responsible for your personal data when you use our Services. However, as Telegram is located outside the EEA, we have designated one of our EEA-based group companies, Telegram UK Holdings Ltd (71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, England, WC2H 9JQ), as a representative to whom you may direct any issues you have relating to our processing of your personal data.
We process your personal data on the ground that such processing is necessary to further our legitimate interests (including: (1) providing effective and innovative Services to our users; and (2) to detect, prevent or otherwise address fraud or security issues in respect of our provision of Services), unless those interests are overridden by your interest or fundamental rights and freedoms that require protections of personal data.
Telegram is a communication service. You provide your mobile number and basic account data (which may include profile name, profile picture and about information) to create a Telegram account.
To make it easier for your contacts and other people to reach you and recognize who you are, the screen name you choose, your profile pictures, and your username (should you choose to set one) on Telegram are always public. We don’t want to know your real name, gender, age or what you like.
We do not require your screen name to be your real name. Note that users who have you in their contacts will see you by the name they saved and not by your screen name. This way your mother can have the public name ‘Johnny Depp’ while appearing as ‘Mom’ to you and as ‘Boss’ to her underlings at work (or the other way around, depending on how these relationships are structured).
When you enable 2-step-verification for your account or store documents using the Telegram Passport feature, you can opt to set up a password recovery email. This address will only be used to send you a password recovery code if you forget it. That’s right: no marketing or “we miss you” bullshit.
Telegram is a cloud service. We store messages, photos, videos and documents from your cloud chats on our servers so that you can access your data from any of your devices anytime without having to rely on third-party backups. All data is stored heavily encrypted and the encryption keys in each case are stored in several other data centers in different jurisdictions. This way local engineers or physical intruders cannot get access to user data.
Secret chats use end-to-end encryption. This means that all data is encrypted with a key that only you and the recipient know. There is no way for us or anybody else without direct access to your device to learn what content is being sent in those messages. We do not store your secret chats on our servers. We also do not keep any logs for messages in secret chats, so after a short period of time we no longer know who or when you messaged via secret chats. For the same reasons secret chats are not available in the cloud — you can only access those messages from the device they were sent to or from.
When you send photos, videos or files via secret chats, before being uploaded, each item is encrypted with a separate key, not known to the server. This key and the file’s location are then encrypted again, this time with the secret chat’s key — and sent to your recipient. They can then download and decipher the file. This means that the file is technically on one of Telegram’s servers, but it looks like a piece of random indecipherable garbage to everyone except for you and the recipient. We don’t know what this random data stands for and we have no idea which particular chat it belongs to. We periodically purge this random data from our servers to save disk space.
In addition to private messages, Telegram also supports public channels and public groups. All public chats are cloud chats (see section 3.3.1 above). Like everything on Telegram, the data you post in public communities is encrypted, both in storage and in transit — but everything you post in public will be accessible to everyone.
Telegram uses phone numbers as unique identifiers so that it is easy for you to switch from SMS and other messaging apps and retain your social graph. We ask your permission before syncing your contacts.
We store your up-to-date contacts in order to notify you as soon as one of your contacts signs up for Telegram and to properly display names in notifications. We only need the number and name (first and last) for this to work and store no other data about your contacts.
Our automatic algorithms can also use anonymized sets of phone numbers to calculate the approximate number of potential contacts an unregistered phone number may have on Telegram. When you open the ‘Invite friends’ interface, we display the resulting statistics next to your contacts to give you an idea of who could benefit most from joining Telegram.
You can always stop syncing contacts or delete them from our servers in Settings > Privacy & Security > Data Settings.
If you are using Android, Telegram will ask you for permission to access your phone call logs (READ_CALL_LOG). If you grant this permission, Telegram will be able verify your account by transmitting a phone call instead of asking you to enter a code. Telegram uses this permission only to confirm receipt of the confirmation call by verifying the number in the call log.
If you share a location in a chat, this location data is treated like other messages in cloud or secret chats respectively.
If you share your Live Location in any chat or turn on ’Make Myself Visible’ in People Nearby, Telegram will use your data to display your location to those users with whom you are sharing it, even when the app is closed – for as long as you keep these optional features activated.
The only cookies we use are those to operate and provide our Services on the web. We do not use cookies for profiling or advertising. The cookies we use are small text files that allow us to provide and customize our Services, and in doing so provide you with an enhanced user experience. Your browser should allow you to control these cookies, including whether or not to accept them and how to remove them. You may choose to block cookies with your web browser, however, if you do disable these cookies you will not be able to log in to Telegram Web.
If you signed up for Telegram from the UK or the EEA, your data is stored in data centers in the Netherlands. These are third-party provided data centers in which Telegram rents a designated space. However, the servers and networks that sit inside these data centers and on which your personal data is stored are owned by Telegram. As such, we do not share your personal data with such data centers. All data is stored heavily encrypted so that local Telegram engineers or physical intruders cannot get access.
Your messages, media and files from secret chats (see section 3.3.2 above), as well as the contents of your calls and the data you store in your Telegram Passport are processed only on your device and on the device of your recipient. Before this data reaches our servers, it is encrypted with a key known only to you and the recipient. While Telegram servers will handle this end-to-end encrypted data to deliver it to the recipient – or store it in the case of Telegram Passport data, we have no ways of deciphering the actual information. In this case, we neither store nor process your personal data, rather we store and process random sequences of symbols that have no meaning without the keys which we don’t have.
Unless stated otherwise in this Privacy Policy, the personal data that you provide us will only be stored for as long as it is necessary for us to fulfill our obligations in respect of the provision of the Services.
Telegram is a cloud service. We will process your data to deliver your cloud chat history, including messages, media and files, to any devices of your choosing without a need for you to use third-party backups or cloud storage.
Telegram supports massive communities which we have to police against abuse and Terms of Service violations. Telegram also has more than 400 million users which makes it a lucrative target for spammers. To improve the security of your account, as well as to prevent spam, abuse, and other violations of our Terms of Service, we may collect metadata such as your IP address, devices and Telegram apps you’ve used, history of username changes, etc. If collected, this metadata can be kept for 12 months maximum.
To prevent phishing, spam and other kinds of abuse and violations of Telegram’s Terms of Service, our moderators may check messages that were reported to them by their recipients. If a spam report on a message you sent is confirmed by our moderators, your account may be limited from contacting strangers – temporarily or permanently. You can send an appeal using @Spambot. In case of more serious violations, your account may be banned. We may also use automated algorithms to analyze messages in cloud chats to stop spam and phishing.
We may also store some aggregated metadata to create Telegram features (see section 5.5 below) that work across all your devices.
We may use some aggregated data about how you use Telegram to build useful features. For example, when you open the Search menu, Telegram displays the people you are more likely to message in a box at the top of the screen. To do this, we calculate a rating that shows which people you message frequently. A similar rating is calculated for inline bots so that the app can suggest the bots you are most likely to use in the attachment menu (or when you start a new message with “@”). To turn this feature off and delete the relevant data, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Data Settings and disable “Suggest Frequent Contacts”.
Unlike other services, we don’t use your data for ad targeting or other commercial purposes. Telegram only stores the information it needs to function as a secure and feature-rich cloud service.
Telegram offers a tool for advertisers to promote their messages in public one-to-many channels, but these sponsored messages are based solely on the topic of the public channels in which they are shown. No user data is mined or analyzed to display ads or sponsored messages.
Telegram has an API that allows third-party developers to create bots. Bots are apps that look like special Telegram users: you can talk to them from your chat list, add them to groups or use a special “inline” interface to access their features. By performing any of these actions, you will be sending some of your data to the respective third-party bot developers.
You can send data to bot developers when you interact with their bots in one of these ways:
In any of the above cases, the developers of an automated user (bot) can get your public account data (see section 3.1 above): your screen name, username and profile picture(s).
Bots can also receive the following data when you interact with them.
Other than our own bots, no other bots or third-party bot developers are affiliated with Telegram. They are completely independent from us. They should ask you for your permission before they access your data or you make it available to them.
The Payment Platform for Bots is available to users as of Telegram 4.0. Telegram does not process payments from users and instead relies on different payment providers around the world. It is the payment providers that handle and store your credit card details. Neither Telegram nor the merchants on the platform (bot developers) have access to this information. Although we work with payment providers they are completely independent from Telegram. Please study their relevant privacy policies before making your data available to them.
When making a purchase, you enter your credit card details into a form supplied by the payment provider that will be processing the payment, and this information goes directly to the payment provider’s server. Your credit card information never reaches Telegram’s servers. We do not access and do not store your credit card information. When you save your credit card info, it is saved on the respective payment provider’s servers and the payment provider gives Telegram a token that you can reuse for future payments. It is not possible to reconstruct your credit card info from the token.
When you enter shipping information in the process of placing an order, we send it directly to the merchant bot developer. We can store your shipping information for you if you choose to save it for future purchases. We will delete this information immediately if you ask us to.
You can clear all payment information associated with your account at any time by going to Telegram Settings > Privacy & Security > Data Settings and selecting ‘Clear Payment & Shipping Info’. If you choose to remove your payment information, we will delete your stored shipping info and payment tokens from all providers and ask the payment providers to remove your credit card information that they store.
Due to the fact that Telegram doesn’t store any credit card details or transaction information, it is impossible for us to handle complaints or cashbacks – any disputed payments are the responsibility of the bot developers, payment providers, and banks that participated in the exchange.
Other users of our Services with whom you choose to communicate with and share certain information, who may be located outside the EEA. Note that by entering into the Terms of Service and choosing to communicate with such other users of Telegram, you are instructing us to transfer your personal data, on your behalf, to those users in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We employ all appropriate technical and organizational measures (including encryption of your personal data) to ensure a level of security for your personal data that is appropriate to the risk.
We may share your personal data with: (1) our parent company, Telegram Group Inc, located in the British Virgin Islands; and (2) Telegram FZ-LLC, a group member located in Dubai, to help provide, improve and support our Services. We will implement appropriate safeguards to protect the security and integrity of that personal data. This will take the form of standard contract clauses approved by the European Commission in an agreement between us and our relevant group companies. If you would like more information regarding these clauses, please contact us using the details in section 12 below.
Users can choose to translate a specific text message into a different language by tapping “Translate” in the action menu of the message (to enable this option, a user should first turn on Translation services in the Settings > Languages section of the Telegram application). Since Telegram may rely on a third-party, Google LLC, subsidiary of Alphabet Inc, for automatic translation of messages, the text of specific messages that users choose to translate may be shared with Google in order to obtain their translated versions. The third-party service owner (Google) may also receive the IP of the user requesting the translation – this is true for any equivalent translation service and the IP cannot be traced back to any Telegram user account or ID. Google will only access the data to provide a translation and will not use it for any other Google products, services, or advertising.
Some users can choose to convert a voice message to text by tapping on the Voice-to-Text icon (“->A”) displayed in voice messages (to be able to use this option, users should subscribe to Telegram Premium in the Settings > Telegram Premium section of the Telegram application). Since Telegram may rely on a third party, Google LLC, subsidiary of Alphabet Inc, for voice-to-text conversion, the audio data of voice messages that users choose to convert to text may be shared with Google in order to obtain their transcribed versions. Only audio data may be shared for this purpose (no other data, such as the user’s IP address or any information about their account is shared). According to the agreement between Telegram and Google, Telegram will pay for the transcriptions on behalf of its users and Google will only access the audio data to provide a transcribed version – it will not log audio data or transcripts, and will not use the data for any other Google products, services, or advertising.
Under applicable data protection legislation, in certain circumstances, you have rights concerning your personal data. You have a right to: (1) request a copy of all your personal data that we store and to transmit that copy to another data controller; (2) delete (see section 10 below) or amend your personal data; (3) restrict, or object to, the processing of your personal data; (4) correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data we hold on you; and (5) lodge a complaint with national data protection authorities regarding our processing of your personal data.
If you wish to exercise any of these rights, kindly contact us using the details in section 12 below.
You can control how your data is used (e.g., delete synced contacts) in Settings > Privacy & Security > Data Settings (using one of our mobile apps).
Sadly, if you’re not OK with Telegram’s modest minimum requirements, it won’t be possible for us to provide you with our Services. You can delete your Telegram account by proceeding to the deactivation page.
If you would like to delete your account, you can do this on the deactivation page. Deleting your account removes all messages, media, contacts and every other piece of data you store in the Telegram cloud. This action must be confirmed via your Telegram account and cannot be undone.
Messages in Secret Chats can be ordered to self-destruct. As soon as such a message is read (2 checks appear), the countdown starts. When the timer expires, both devices participating in a secret chat are instructed to delete the message (photo, video, etc.). Media with short timers (less than a minute) are shown with blurred previews. The timer is triggered when they are viewed.
By default, if you stop using Telegram and do not come online for at least 6 months, your account will be deleted along with all messages, media, contacts and every other piece of data you store in the Telegram cloud. You can go to Settings to change the exact period after which your inactive account will self-destruct.
We will review and may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes to this Privacy Policy will become effective when we post the revised Privacy Policy on this page www.telegram.org/privacy. Please check our website frequently to see any updates or changes to our Privacy Policy, a summary of which we will set out below.

How to Send a Message to Yourself on Telegram?
Want to know how to send a message or file to yourself on Telegram from any device? This guide has the 2 best ways to do this.
So, the question is…
Why send messages to yourself on Telegram?
Since your chats are stored to the cloud, you can use Telegram to save just about any file. To give you an idea, you can store:
Moreover, you can install the Telegram app across all your devices. Thus, you can open files sent from your phone on your PC and vice versa effortlessly.
Nonetheless, at the time of posting, messaging yourself on Telegram isn’t as straightforward as tapping New Message and choosing your username.
Table of Contents
Method 1: Through Telegram’s “Saved Messages” Feature
Plus, it might be tricky locating the Saved Messages feature since it’s not on the opening page straightaway. However, it’s just a few taps away.
So, the following steps will show how you can access Saved Messages on Telegram. They may vary across different devices and with time due to updates.
However, the steps are generally similar to the following:
On Android: Firstly, tap the menu icon at the upper-left, and choose Saved Messages from the side menu.
And that’s all it takes! Now, Saved Messages should appear on the opening page, and you can begin messaging and adding files to it.
Method 2: Create a New Channel
Thus, you can create a few custom channels with unique names for different purposes. For example, you can create separate channels for photos, GIFs and videos. Doing this makes your saved messages more organized and easier to identify.
That being said, the following steps show how you can create a private channel on Telegram to save your messages:
On the Mobile App (iPhone/iPad/Android)
On the Desktop App (Windows/macOS)
Now, you’ve successfully created a channel to save and access your files from anywhere. With that done, you can repeat these steps to create multiple custom channels to categorize your uploaded files.
Conclusion
You can log in to your same Telegram account on any device, and still be able to see the saved messages and files.
With that said, let us know, which method did you find more appealing, 1 or 2? Did you face any errors with the steps?
Lastly, we hope you’ve found this guide to be insightful 😊. Feel free to share it with a friend who could use this nifty cloud storage hack with Telegram.
How to Get Out of Block & Report on Telegram
Table of content
This message means that you can only send messages to mutual contacts. (Mutual contacts are the people who have already chatted with you or saved your number on their phone.) In this article, we are introducing you to several ways to get out of Telegram report and block.
Methods to Get Out of Block & Report on Telegram
If you have been reported in Telegram for any reason, join us in the following so that you can solve your problem by introducing 5 ways to fix the Telegram report.
Use Spam Info Bot
All the steps mentioned in this method are fully tested and 100% practical. You have to do them carefully, in the order stated, to get the desired result.
In this method, you use the official Telegram bot to remove the report and submit your request to the bot.
Step 1
To get started, in Telegram search, type @spambot.
Step 2
Click start to start the bot.
Step 5
The next message asks you if you have sent unsolicited advertising messages and inappropriate content to others. Select No! Never did that!
Step 6
Finally, you will be asked to write your complaint and send it to Telegram Support. An example of your message might be: Dear Telegram Support,
My Telegram account has been restricted suddenly. I have several Telegram accounts, and I am doing the same activities with all these accounts. It is strange that this particular account of mine is in trouble. Please examine the issue and fix my problem. I request you to remove the spam from my account. Thanks in advance!
Step 7
Finally, Telegram will confirm your complaint and will investigate your case as soon as possible.
Replace your Telegram account details with someone else’s account details
Request anonymous people to message you
One of the simplest and oldest ways to get out of Telegram report & block is to ask other anonymous people in a Telegram group to send you at least 10 messages or stickers in private for 4 to 7 consecutive days. If at least 10 people who are not your mutual contacts do this. Note that you have to be patient and never read these messages to have about 100 unread messages in your Telegram every day. After 4 to 7 days, your Telegram will automatically regain its full functionality.
Contact Telegram Support via chat and request a report fix
One of the most effective methods is to chat with Telegram support team members. To use this method, you only need to be somewhat familiar with English. Follow the steps below.
Step 1
Enter Telegram and tap the three horizontal line ( ) icon at the top left of the screen.
Step 4
In the page that opens, select ASK A VOLUNTEER so that you can talk directly to the operator.
Step 5
Then tap start to begin your conversation. Write the problem you have and the operator will guide you if possible.
Send a request to Telegram via email
If you did not succeed with the above methods and your Telegram is still limited, it is better to try sending an email as well. In this method, you send your request to remove Telegram report via email to Telegram support. Send your email in English to this email address: spam@telegram.org. This department is solely responsible for investigating Telegram account report requests and may check your request sooner. Write Spam as your email subject and write your email carefully so that they can address your problem.
Be sure to mention in your email that your account was misreported and you did not do anything against Telegram guidelines and terms. It is better to include the phone number with which you have a Telegram account and your Telegram username in the email so that they can check your account details if necessary. Usually, if Telegram makes a mistake in restricting your account, they will remove your Telegram report in less than 24 hours.
You can solve your Telegram report problem by trying the methods we have taught you in this article. Keep in mind that sometimes, despite all your effort, you may still not be able to release your account from Telegram report. Do not forget that due to the large number of messages sent to the Telegram support team, requests may take several days to be investigated.
Bots FAQ
If you are new to Telegram bots, we recommend checking out our Introduction to Bots first.
You may also find the Bot API Manual useful.
Creating Telegram bots is super-easy, but you will need at least some skills at computer programming. In order for a bot to work, set up a bot account with @BotFather, then connect it to your backend server via our API.
Unfortunately, there are no out-of-the-box ways to create a working bot if you are not a developer. But we’re sure you’ll soon find plenty of bots created by other people to play with.
Here are two sample bots, both written in PHP:
Many members of our community are building bots and publishing sources.
We’re collecting them on this page »
Ping us on @BotSupport if you’ve built a bot and would like to share it with others.
The bot API is still pretty young. There are many potential features to consider and implement. We’ll be studying what people do with their bots for a while to see which directions will be most important for the platform.
All bot developers are welcome to share ideas for our Bot API with our @BotSupport account.
1. All bots, regardless of settings, will receive:
2. Bot admins and bots with privacy mode disabled will receive all messages except messages sent by other bots.
3. Bots with privacy mode enabled will receive:
Note that each particular message can only be available to one privacy-enabled bot at a time, i.e., a reply to bot A containing an explicit command for bot B or sent via bot C will only be available to bot A. Replies have the highest priority.
Bots talking to each other could potentially get stuck in unwelcome loops. To avoid this, we decided that bots will not be able to see messages from other bots regardless of mode.
There are currently two ways of getting updates. You can either use long polling or Webhooks. Please note that it’s not possible to get updates via long polling while an outgoing Webhook is set.
The getUpdates method returns the earliest 100 unconfirmed updates. To confirm an update, use the offset parameter when calling getUpdates like this:
All updates with update_id less than or equal to offset will be marked as confirmed on the server and will no longer be returned.
If you’ve set up your webhook successfully, but are not getting any updates, please remember:
Please check out this new WEBHOOK GUIDE to learn all there is to know about webhooks!
Please take a look at this self-signed certificate guide we made just for you. If you’ve read it and still have a question, ping us on botsupport.
If you’d like to make sure that the Webhook request comes from Telegram, we recommend using a secret path in the URL you give us, e.g. www.example.com/your_token. Since nobody else knows your bot’s token, you can be pretty sure it’s us.
This is possible if you’re using webhooks. The upside is that you need less requests, the downside — that in this case it’s not possible to know that such a request was successful or get its result.
Whenever you receive a webhook update, you have two options:
1. Issue POST to https://api.telegram.org/bot /method
2. Reply directly and give method as JSON payload in the reply
You may also want to look at our sample HelloBot, it offers a PHP implementation of this.
Use the getFile method. Please note that this will only work with files of up to 20 MB in size.
Bots can currently send files of any type of up to 50 MB in size, so yes, very large files won’t work for now. Sorry. This limit may be changed in the future.
Yes, file_ids can be treated as persistent.
When sending messages inside a particular chat, avoid sending more than one message per second. We may allow short bursts that go over this limit, but eventually you’ll begin receiving 429 errors.
If you’re sending bulk notifications to multiple users, the API will not allow more than 30 messages per second or so. Consider spreading out notifications over large intervals of 8—12 hours for best results.
Also note that your bot will not be able to send more than 20 messages per minute to the same group.
Unfortunately, at this moment we don’t have methods for sending bulk messages, e.g. notifications. We may add something along these lines in the future.
In order to avoid hitting our limits when sending out mass notifications, consider spreading them over longer intervals, e.g. 8-12 hours. The API will not allow bulk notifications to more than
30 users per second, if you go over that, you’ll start getting 429 errors.
If you’ve got questions that are not answered on this page, ping us at @BotSupport in Telegram.
We welcome any suggestions for the Bot Platform and API.

Did you find a solution yet? Cause I had the same problem but it happened when I use the same number over and over. However, using a different number worked fine.

Thx @mahdizolqadr for your answer. We are currently experiencing the same issue. If we request the code over the App, everything works fine but as soon as we request the code over Telethon, there is no SMS arriving. Even though the response from client.send_code_request() returns a phone_code_hash and says that the current auth_type is SMS. What exactly do you mean by «we must use phone device config»? We tried passing a device_model to the TelegramClient without luck.
Lonami commented Sep 1, 2021
I don’t know why Telegram decides when or not to send an SMS, but in order to debug this more easily, you may use the raw API call SendCodeRequest (and the resend variant). Perhaps this way (using and receiving raw data from Telegram) one can get more insight.

i know why telegram decides this work, because it was a security bug and we report it 🙁
Lonami commented Sep 1, 2021
Well, it’s good to know these limits have actual reasons to exist then 🙂
Given this, I doubt Telethon can do anything to «fix» it but I’ll leave the issue open for a bit longer in case anyone finds it or wants to discuss further.

I assume that the bunch of arguments in connection request affects the sending of SMS from the telegram side. even beta doesn’t want send SMS BUT from a regular telegram it is sent
I don’t remember exactly where to enable or disable debug to change the parameters in

I think api_id is one of the parameters due to which it does not want to send SMS.
you can search for currentApiId here and see what parameters it additionally sends when connecting
I also had an idea to take the jni folder from the android tg and try to replace the connection to the server in the telethon. but so far I have neither knowledge nor time

Проверяем путь /Storage/Emulated/0/Telegram/Telegram Image, картинки автоудалились.
The «delete for» feature in Telegram before 5.11 on Android does not delete shared media files from the Telegram Images directory. In other words, there is a potentially misleading UI indication that a sender can remove a recipient’s copy of a previously sent image (analogous to supported functionality in which a sender can remove a recipient’s copy of a previously sent message),
я принял решение снова поработать с Telegram. Согласно программе bug bounty на Hackerone
5.03.21 я отправил отчет по уязвимости на security@telegram.org. К моему удивлению
7.03.21 я получил ответ (далее по тексту пунктуация и орфография сообщений полностью сохранены):
Thank you for your email. We will send you an update soon.
All the best, Telegram Support
месяца тишины (вышло очередное обновление мессенджера, в котором уязвимость “автоудаление сообщений” все еще не была исправлена), и я снова напомнил Telegram о своем письме.
3.04.21 получил следующий ответ:
Thank you for your email and sorry for the long wait. We will reply soon.
All the best, Telegram Support
We are sorry for the long wait. We will send you an update soon.
All the best, Telegram Support
We don’t have automatic responses here. Please wait, we will send you an update soon.
All the best, Telegram Support
Я согласился подождать, обычное дело. Через полтора месяца Tg снова обновился до новой версии и снова уязвимость не была исправлена. Я написал в Tg, что уязвимость в новой версии мессенджера все еще не исправлена и
29.06.21 получил ответ:
I’m sorry for the delay. Thanks for the details.
You can send the logs to Saved Messages, open the file and make sure that it does not contain any sensitive information.
All the best, Alex Telegram Support
7.07.21 Я создаю приватный, групповой чат и приглашаю для тестирования бага и наглядности представителя Tg присоединиться к нему.
8.07.21 получаю ответ:
Thanks for the details. There are two different files on your screenshots: they have different names and sizes, and they have been sent in two separate chats.
All the best, Telegram Support
Thank you for vert long wait. We would like to award you with a bounty of EUR 1,000 for your findings. Could you share the following info for the agreement please?
1. Your bank account details:
* account number or IBAN for payments in Euro
2. Your full address including the postal code.
3. Date of birth.
Telegram!
Telegram.
Мы не хотим платить журналистам и исследователям, чтобы они рассказывали о Telegram.

Scheduled Messages, Reminders, Custom Cloud Themes and More Privacy
In our previous update, we added a handy menu when you hold the send button. Today we’re populating this menu with a new option that helps you plan ahead.
Hold the ‘Send’ button in any chat and select ‘Schedule Message’ to automatically send things at a specified time in the future (DeLorean not included).
Scheduling also works in your ‘Saved Messages’ chat, turning your planned posts into reminders. Be your own time-travelling secretary – whether it’s about a dentist appointment next week, or waking up in time for pizza delivery.
Whenever a scheduled message or reminder is sent, you get a special notification marked with a , so you don’t get caught off-guard by messages you planned in the past.
You could first customize Telegram’s appearance way back in 2017. Today’s update makes this easier than ever across all platforms, including our native desktop apps.
Choose a pre-set accent color or pick something unique from the color wheel, and the app will adjust all elements accordingly. See how it looks in your favorite color, blue – no, yellow!
You can now easily create new themes based on your color and wallpaper choices, then fine-tune them manually or share right away. Each theme has a sharing link which allows anyone to switch to your theme and wallpaper in just two taps.
When you change your theme, it gets updated for all its users. This way you can update your app’s looks to evolve as Telegram updates – or to change with the seasons.
To try out cloud themes, take a look at Sky Blue or Desert. These will work for both iOS and Android, and we solemnly swear to update them to acid green on orange when you least expect it.
On iOS, we have condensed message options into a single menu for forwarding, replying and more. You can now also select any portion of the message to copy or share, instead of only the full text.
Telegram groups can be public and may hold up to 200,000 members each. When launching them, we were thinking of campuses, conventions and spaces where you could properly brag about your cats. However, Telegram communities are also increasingly used by people to organize themselves in the face of oppression.
We believe that all people have a right to express their opinions and communicate privately. To further protect these rights, we‘re expanding Telegram’s arsenal of Privacy Settings today.
If you set Who Can See My Phone Number to ‘Nobody’, a new option will appear below, allowing you to control your visibility for those who already have it. Setting Who Can Find Me By My Number to ‘My Contacts’ will ensure that random users who add your number as a contact are unable to match your profile to that number.
If, like the majority of our users, you rely on uploading phone contacts to identify friends and family members on the app, this setting won’t get in your way.
Regardless of whether you‘re fighting for freedom or queuing for coffee, you’ll likely find a use for the new additions to our animated emoji family.
As before, send a single ,

And that’s all, folks! While waiting for our next update, check out this brief history of Telegram. Or, if you’re not into reading, run a bath and enjoy these animated rubber duck stickers.

Periodic messages with cron
We can combine telegram-send with cron to periodically send messages. Here we will set up a cron job to send the Astronomy Picture of the Day to the astropod channel.
We create a cron job /etc/cron.d/astropod (as root) with the content:
Supervisor process state notifications
Usage from Python
Cron job output
Cron has a built-in feature to send the output of jobs via mail. In this example we’ll send cron output over Telegram. Here is the example cron job:

Что делать, если в Телеграмме пришел код подтверждения без запроса
Телеграмм – это безопасный мессенджер, в котором не используется логин и пароль. Для входа каждый абонент вводит номер своего телефона, а для подтверждения используется специальный код, который генерируется на сервере и отправляется по СМС. Что делать, если пришел код Телеграмм без запроса – давайте разбираться.
Как используется код подтверждения в Telegram
Payment in Telegram bot
And in this tutorial we will create a simple bot with Node.js on the Telegraf.js framework that can accept money from the client and send them to your account through Sberbank.
Payments 2.0
Payment bots have existed on Telegram since 2017. With their help, you can safely pay for goods and services like pizza delivery without leaving the app.
From now on, merchants can accept credit card payments using 8 built-in payment systems in any chat, including groups and channels.
At the moment, payments from more than 200 countries are supported through the following payment systems:
Telegram does not process payments from users and instead relies on different payment providers around the world. It is the payment providers that process and store all confidential information, such as credit card information. Neither Telegram nor bot developers have access to it.
You can use any application for payment, including Telegram for computers. A customer can also leave a tip to support a favorite author, cafe or store.

Telegram Actions
Methods
Overview
One of the great things about Flow XO is that you can build bots that will work the same across multiple channels, such as Telegram, Facebook Messenger, or WhatsApp. To enable this «build once deploy anywhere» functionality, we must limit the capabilities of our core messaging tools to features that are shared by all of the channels we support. This is great if you’re building for multiple channels, but it can be limiting if you want to take full advantage of a particular platform, such as Telegram. Please note that we have similar integrations for Facebook Messenger and our Web Messenger.
Telegram as a messaging platform is a powerful and feature rich platform complete with quizzes, an in-chat multi-processor payments system, the ability to edit previously sent messages, and much more. You can even ask it to generate a random number and send your users one of a variety of fun dice rolling animations.
User Friendly Access to the Telegram API
Flow XO has always allowed users to take advantage most of each channels special features using our Custom Request action. This allows you to call a particular channels API using raw JSON code. It works, but it requires some technical skill and makes it very easy to make mistakes. So while we still provide the option of sending a Custom Request for highly technical Telegram power users, we now offer a much more user friendly way to access Telegrams powerful features, the Telegram Actions integration. You can find this powerful tool under More Services, along with our third party integrations and chat utilities:
Filtering By Platform
Since the methods in this integration will ONLY work on Telegram, you can only use them in a flow that you only intend to deploy to Telegram OR you must use a filter to only execute the task when the current channel is Telegram. Each trigger provides a ‘Bot Platform’ field that can be used for this purpose:
Messaging Actions
There are a LOT of different types of messages you can send in Telegram. They all have several properties in common, most of which you’ll rarely use. Here they are:
1. Parse Mode
Whenever a message includes free text, such as when sending a text message or send a caption along with some media, you can set the ‘Parse Mode’, which tells Telegram how to interpret any formatting you have applied. Your two choices are HTML and Markdown.
2. Disable Web Page Preview
Normally when you send a link in a message it is «expanded» by Telegram, meaning it will try to find a good thumbnail and summary of the link to show in the chat. If you don’t want this to happen, you can set Disable Web Page Preview to true.
4. Reply To Message ID
If you want to specifically indicate that the message you are sending is a reply to another message you can put the Message ID of the other message in this field. You will find the Message ID of the user message that triggered the current flow in the Metadata of the trigger, so if you need to you can pull it out of there.
5. Allow sending without reply
If you DO set a Reply To Message ID, but that ID is not a valid message on Telegram, setting Allow sending without reply will cause the message to be sent anyway, not as a reply but as a new message.
6. Keyboard
You can send a custom keyboard with every message. This is an extremely powerful feature with a lot of options, and Telegram offers several types of keyboards, a Reply Keyboard, and Inline Keyboard and a Remove Keyboard. Each has different properties and can be used in different situations. One amazing feature of Telegram is that you can edit the keyboard of a message in place, which means you can change the option buttons presented to simulate a hierarchical menu. Please see this article for more on working with keyboards: Telegram Keyboards. For the most simple use case, you can add a row of buttons on each line of the Keyboard input field, and on a single line separate buttons by the pipe symbol ( | ). Here is an example:
would result in the following keyboard:
7. Keyboard Type
There are three kinds of keyboards you can use:
Getting User Input
When using the usual Flow XO messaging tasks, if you want to gather input from the user you would use an Ask a Question task. This send the user a message, some optional quick reply options, and then pauses the flow until the users responds. Once they do, the data they sent is available as an output of the Ask a Question.
The Telegram Actions integration does not have a concept of an Ask a Question, but it DOES give you the ability to prompt the user for input in more ways than Ask a Question, using custom keyboards, for example, or when sending a user a non-anonymous quiz. To gather user input in these contexts, please use the Wait for a Response task. It behaves exactly like Ask a Question, except that it is lacking the validation features. You will have to handle any validation on our own.
As an added bonus, we have modified how file attachments are processed, and you can now ask your user to submit a file and then place a Wait for a Response action immediately afterwards. When your user uploads the file, be it an image, a video, a contact, or any other media that their messenger can send, the Wait for a Response action will capture the file info as metadata. It is no longer necessary to have separate flows and New File Triggers to collect uploads from users!
You can use this to collect media from your users and then grab the File ID from the received metadata and post that media in another group or channel, or you can simply store the file URL in a database for later use.
Send Message
Send message is as simple as it sounds. It sends a text message into the chat.
See: https://core.telegram.org/bots/api#sendmessage
Forward Message
Forward message will forward a previously sent or received message to another user/group/channel.
See: https://core.telegram.org/bots/api#forwardmessage
Copy Message
Copy message will copy a previously received/sent message to another user/group/channel, and also allow you to modify the caption or reply keyboard as needed.
See: https://core.telegram.org/bots/api#copymessage
Send Photo
Send photo will deliver an image into the chat, along with an optional caption. As with all the various «send media» commands, you can identify the photo you want to send with a publicly available URL or a Telegram File ID. Using a Telegram File ID will be more efficient and perform better. You can get the Telegram File ID of an image or any other piece of media by sending it to your Telegram Bot directly and using a «New File Trigger» to listen for incoming files. The Telegram File ID will be present in the trigger metadata.

Send Sticker
Send a Telegram sticker into the chat or an image in the new WEBP format.
See: https://core.telegram.org/bots/api#sendsticker
Send Audio
Send Audio lets you send a playable audio clip into the chat with an optional caption.
See: https://core.telegram.org/bots/api#sendaudio
Send Document
Send an arbitrary file into the chat for your users to download.
See: https://core.telegram.org/bots/api#senddocument
Send Video
Send a video into the chat, with an optional caption.
See: https://core.telegram.org/bots/api#sendvideo
Send Animation
Use this to send an animated GIF, with an optional caption.
See: https://core.telegram.org/bots/api#sendanimation
Send Voice
Use this to send a voice encoded audio file using a URL or a Telegram File ID. A good way to get such an audio recording is to use the audio recorder within Telegram and send an audio file to your bot. Using a New File Trigger, you can capture the metadata in Flow XO and extract the File ID in the Interactions tab, which can then be used to send the file to your audience.
See: https://core.telegram.org/bots/api#sendvoice
Send Video Note
Use this to send a video you recorded on the Telegram video recorder. Send the file to your bot and use a New Message trigger to catch it and capture the metadata, which will be available in the Interactions tab and which you can use to extract the correct File ID to send the video note to your audience.
See: https://core.telegram.org/bots/api#sendvideonote
Send Location
Send Venue
This is very similar to Send Location, but you can include other information about the venue, such as its Foursquare ID or Google Place ID, among other things.
See: https://core.telegram.org/bots/api#sendvenue
Send Contact
Send contact information into the chat. You can include a rich set of contact information, including an entire vCard if you like.
See: https://core.telegram.org/bots/api#sendcontact
Send Poll
This powerful function lets you send your users a poll or a quiz. They are both a single question with up to 10 answers. The poll can be single or multiple response, and displays the poll results to users once they have completed it. The quiz is like a poll, but has a single right answer, and your users will be told if they got the question correct or not. Polls will be most effective when sending messages to a Telegram Group or a Telegram Channel, as a poll of 1 may not yield interesting results. Quizzes can be useful in a group and private setting. Note that Flow XO can receive the poll response from the user only if the poll or quiz is NOT set to be anonymous. If you want to wait for the user to answer a poll and then process their response, make sure to put a Wait for a Response task AFTER your Send a Poll task.
See: https://core.telegram.org/bots/api#sendpoll
Editing Messages
Telegram provides a number of functions that allow you to edit or delete messages you have already sent. The most common use of this feature is to provide navigation within the chat window without cluttering up the chat window with buttons as your users navigate a menu hierarchy. To edit a message you must have a Telegram Message ID, a unique identifier that Telegram assigns to every message sent on the platform. The standard Flow XO messaging tools, such as Send Message, Send Video, etc, do not return the Telegram Message ID in a way that you can use. However, each of the tools provided by the Telegram Actions integration DO return the Message ID, so as long as you are using this toolkit to send your Telegram messages, you can edit them.
Example Flow
Install this sample flow into your account to see how to combine Edit Message actions with Wait for a Response to edit the message and keyboard of a message based on the users input.
Where to Find the Message ID
When you send a message with the Telegram Actions integration, the Message ID (along with quite a bit of other potentially useful information) is returned in the Response Data of the task. The Message ID is also returned in the Response Data when you send a Custom Request. Here’s what it looks like in the Interaction explorer for messages sent with the Telegram Actions integration:
You can use this ID in any of the edit tasks by using a variable, like this <
Edit Message Text
As you might have guessed from the name, you can use Edit Message Text to change the text of a message. As with most of the edit methods, you can also change the keyboard when editing the message. If you ONLY want to edit the keyboard, there is a separate command for that.
See: https://core.telegram.org/bots/api#editmessagetext
Edit Message Caption
If you sent a media message, and you want to change the caption of the media, you can do so with Edit Message Caption. As with Edit Message Text, this will edit the keyboard as well.
See: https://core.telegram.org/bots/api#editmessagecaption
Edit Message Media
In addition to editing the text or caption of a message, you can also edit the media of any media message you send, replacing the picture, video, etc with another. You can only replace a media file with another media file of a similar type. For example you can replace one audio file with another, but cannot replace an audio file with a video.

Payments
Telegram provides an easy to integrate, easy to payments platform that allows you to sell your products using a range of payment providers that service many different international regions. While Flow XO includes a built in Payments feature, it is limited to Stripe and uses a web-based workflow that requires your users to complete payment outside of Telegram’s messenger. If you are selling mostly within Telegram, the Telegram Payments platform provides a much more streamlined user experience, and a wider range of payment providers.
The Flow XO Telegram Actions integration can help you sell both digital and physical products, including dynamic shipping information.
Telegram provides documentation on getting set up on their platform which we won’t replicate here. Please follow the instructions here, and once you’re done you’ll have a payments token that you can use to send invoices with Flow XO. For the majority of use cases, processing payments with Flow XO is as simple as:
In more advanced scenarios, if you choose flexible shipping, you will also have an additional step:
Send an Invoice
Send an Invoice is the main method you will use when working with Telegram Payments. It includes a large number of options, and lets you set your product title, image, description, pricing, etc. You can also indicate if you require email address, phone number or shipping address before accepting an order. For a complete description of each parameter and how it should be used, please see: https://core.telegram.org/bots/api#sendinvoice
Custom Payment Button
Responding to the payment confirmation
When the user clicks your Payment button and completes the payment process, Flow XO will receive a message with the text «payments:success» as the message, and in the metadata will be information about the order, including a confirmation code from your payment provider. To respond to your users after they have made a payment, you have two options. You can create a trigger with the trigger phrase «payments:success», or you can wait for the confirmation in the same flow you sent the invoice using a Wait for a Response task:
After the payment is made, you can access information about the order in the metadata:
Answer Shipping Query
If, in your invoice, you set the «Is Flexible» parameter to true, then Telegram will need to present the user with shipping costs. This feature is only used if you plan to dynamically calculate the shipping pricing based on the shipping address provided by your customer. In this case, you will need to wait for Telegram to send a shipping query using a Wait for a Response task, like so:
Once you receive the shipping query, you can examine the metadata to help you calculate shipping costs (possibly on a per carrier basis):
Once you receive this query, you must respond with an Answer Shipping Query Message:
You will need to reference the ID of the Shipping Query, and provide the pricing information. Specify prices with the fractional component as the last two digits as with invoices:
Misc Functions
In addition to the main functions described in the article above, we also support a handful of lesser used miscellaneous functions you can use to get information about a specific channel, pin or unpin chat messages that the bot has sent, or even answer inline queries. The last one, inline queries, is a powerful feature in Telegram that can help you spread your bot virally if you have useful content users can search for and share with each other. Why aren’t we featuring our support for it more prominently? The reason is that the normal chat mechanisms of Flow XO are not ideally suited to inline queries for a couple of reasons. The most import of which is that it would be very expensive for you to run inline queries using our normal pricing model, because Telegram will send an inline query every several keystrokes while users are typing out their search. Each one will cause an interaction to be counted. Another reason is that for inline queries to give a great user experience, they should get a very fast response as they are searching. Our system is not optimized for that, but is optimized for passing messages and executing bot logic. We may in the future provide more robust, special purpose support for inline queries, but in the meantime we provide the Answer Inline Query tool in case you are a very advanced user and want to use it with Flow XO despite the drawbacks just described. If your use case must have inline queries and you have coding skills or a developer available to you, we have an experimental feature that would allow you to handle inline queries using a cloud function (even a free one like Pipedream can work). Please e-mail support@flowxo.com to discuss if you are interested in exploring this feature.
Without further ado, here is the list of miscellaneous functions we support:
Get Chat Info
The Get Chat Info method is actually three telegram commands rolled into one. All three are mostly relevant to groups and channels:
Send messages using Telegram and Node-RED
We learned here how to send notification using Pushbullet. In most cases this should be enough but in my case I wanted a little more.
With Telegram and Node-RED you can receive and send messages/photos/videos from and to your automation system.
In this article I will show you how to send a message from Node-RED to your phone using Telegram, let’s begin:
1.Creating a Telegram bot
Open Telegram and search for “BotFather”. Using this bot you can create, delete and manage all your bots.
Start creating your bot using the /newbot command.
You will receive a token that will be used by Node-RED to access Telegram
2. Install Telegram plugin to Node-RED
Click on the menu icon on the top right corner then “Manage Palette”.
Search for “telegrambot” and click Install.
You will now have 5 more nodes in the left palette.
3. Configure your bot
Add a Telegram sender node to your flow and click on it.
Click the pencil icon to add a new bot to your Node-RED
Next we have to enter a “Bot-Name” and a “Token”. You created them in step 1.
All done. Your bot is ready!
4. Find your Telegram ID
We created a bot that could tell you your Telegram ID. Ask it for your ID using /myid command.
Click here to chat with our bot.
5. Send your first message!
First you have to start your bot. Search for it in Telegram and click on Start.
To send a message to Telegram, add an inject node and an function node. You should have something like this:
In the function node we have to create the message. It should contain:
msg.payload = <>
msg.payload.chatId = your-id-here
msg.payload.type = ‘message’
msg.payload.content = ‘hello from node-red!’
return msg;
You can now click on the left of the inject node to send your first message!
Sending Message to Telegram Members Using Telethon
In this tutorial, we are going to use the CSV file that we generated in Scraping Telegram Members tutorial to send bulk messages to our scraped Telegram group members using Telegram API and Python Telethon library. So if you did not already checked that, visit this tutorial and learn how to get this file. Basically we will feed our new Python script with that CSV file to read usernames or user IDs from it and send a message to them.
Get Telegram API Key
As stated in the previous tutorial you need to get your Telegram API credentials to be able to use the API. So don’t hesitate and check the previous tutorial and use the guide to get your own Telegram API credentials, or simply follow these steps:
• Sign up for Telegram using any application.
• Log in to your Telegram core: https://my.telegram.org.
• Go to ‘API development tools’ and fill out the form.
• You will get basic addresses as well as the api_id and api_hash parameters required for user authorization.
Install Telethon
Note: If you are on Linux or Mac, you might need to use sudo before pip to avoid permissions issues.
Let’s get started.
Create Client Object and Login
Whenever you want to use Telethon, first step should be logging into the API. So you have to create a client object and check if it’s already authorized otherwise ask for an OTP password.
So create your client object first.
Connect and check if the client is authorized. Otherwise prompt the user to enter the code they received from Telegram.
Read Members from CSV File
Now you have the name (or path) of our CSV file and you can use Python’s csv module to read the file and create a list of users.
Import the required modules
Create a dictionary for every user and append that to our user list.
Note: You need to cast the user id and access hash to integer type.
Note: We skip the first row in the CSV file (header) using the next function.
Prompt to Send by User ID or Username
As I mentioned in the previous tutorial, not all telegram members have a username. Also, access hash for every user is different for every Telegram account. It means that if you scrape users with a Telegram account and you want to send messages with another account then you cannot use those access hashes to get the users. But you can use usernames. To solve this problem and avoid errors we will ask your Python script user whether he/she wants to use Telegram username or user ID to send the messages.
Telegram Text Formatting: Tips, Font Tricks, and Shortcuts
Plain text is simply not enough. Sometimes, you need to put emphasis on a certain word or prioritize one idea over another, and that’s when Telegram text formatting comes in handy. Make your messages and posts more readable and expressive — here’s how.
Overview of Telegram text formatting options
Telegram has a few basic built-in formatting options that aren’t exactly easy to find. Also, there are simple shortcuts to make your message look the way you intend.
First, let’s see what’s available:
There are five different Telegram font styles — bold, italic, strikethrough, underline, and monospace. Also, there is an option of adding a hyperlink. You can’t change the font itself, only its style. Because many people don’t know about these formatting options or use them only sporadically, there is a chance for you to make your messages stand out.
Telegram formatting helps you highlight keywords and set off commands or quotations:
Now, we’ll show you how formatting text in Telegram works.
How to format text in Telegram
Let’s go through all of the essential Telegram font tricks, one method at a time.
Want to create a chatbot?
Design and set up Facebook, WhatsApp, or Telegram chatbots without needing to code with SendPulse. Create message flows including not only text, but images, lists, buttons with a link, and much more.
The built-in Telegram panel
This is the easiest way to play with your Telegram font style, and it works on both desktop and mobile.
To access the panel, select the text you want to format. Then, click on the three-dot menu in the top right corner if you use Android. In iOS, right-click the text and choose “B/U.” And in the desktop version, right-click the text and choose “Formatting.”
After that, you’ll be able to change the style of your selected text or turn it into a hyperlink. Also, nothing is stopping you from combining different font styles.
Hotkeys for Telegram formatting
These simple hotkeys will help you make your text look more professional in no time. They are not Telegram-specific — you can use most of them in other programs and apps when working with text.
Here’s the list of options you have:
You can also add a link using hotkeys — select the text and press Ctrl (Cmd) + K.
When inserting a hyperlink, you can remove the preview to give your message a cleaner look before sending it.
Special characters for formatting text in Telegram
Using special characters is a less obvious way to change your Telegram font style, but it’s still more convenient than going the extra mile and copy-pasting a text from another app.
Insert special characters when you write your message, and it’ll be formatted automatically when you send it:
Here’s how your Telegram text becomes bold:
Making bold text in Telegram
Advanced way to share formulas and pieces of code on Telegram
Monospaced text is great for highlighting a piece of code, number, address, or a formula in your text. But did you know that it’s also easier to copy? Thanks to another Telegram feature, you can click on any monospaced text, and it’ll be immediately copied to your clipboard. Use this formatting option to share important data with your subscribers faster.
A monospaced font is perfect for code and formulas
How to do Telegram formatting in the web version
If other options aren’t available, your last resort is to use Telegram Markdown — it’s a third-party bot that allows you to turn a “raw” text with HTML tags into a nice formatted text, which you can just copy. No worries, you won’t need to code anything. It works like this:
How to change the font style in Telegram with Markdown bot
Remember that you always need to use an opening and a closing tag with your text in between, just like in our examples. Here are the most useful HTML tags for Telegram text formatting in Markdown:
And here’s the result you get:
Is it the most convenient way? Probably, not. But it’s a simple alternative if, for some reason, you can’t use the methods we’ve described earlier. With the help of this bot, you can format big paragraphs of text by simply adding the right HTML tags where you want them to be.
Check out some examples of Telegram chatbots businesses use to engage with their customers.
One more thing
If your business isn’t on Telegram yet, it’s time to change that. Using SendPulse, create your Telegram bot to send messages in bulk and set up automated replies. You can send up to 10,000 messages per month for free. Also, you can enable seamless online payments and turn your chatbot into an effective sales channel. Give it a try!

How to create elegant messages with buttons in Telegram
In the following practical tutorial, better said practical video tutorial, I am going to teach you how to create stylish and eye-catching button messages so that you communicate in a different way with your friends, family and groups of friends in Telegram, which for me and more and more people is the best instant messaging application in the world.
Far from what many people believe or think that this can only be done in groups, supergroups or Telegram channels Today I am going to show you step by step how to create those beautiful messages with buttons so that you can use them whenever you want, just by clicking on the «Share» option that we ourselves are going to enable in the button panel created to our liking. I advise you to take a look at the video that I have attached to this post since, although it seems a somewhat difficult matter, it is easier than it seems a priori.

How to create messages with buttons in Telegram to send them to whoever we want
We have several bots to get these things done, I am using at least two at present since they seem the best to do it. In this specific case we are going to focus on the Aitor bot, a bot that responds to the name of Ban | Hammer which is one of the best bot for Telegram supergroup moderation.
The first thing we will do is find Ban | Hammer’s bot simply using the Telegram search engine and typing the following @ xxdamage2bot, we can search for it manually or if you prefer clicking on this same link.
Once open the bot will ask you to start it, you start it and you will be in a position to follow the practical tutorial with which in a very simple way and from the bot itself, you will be able to create your own messages with buttons that are going to blow away all your Telegram contacts.
The syntax to send a message with the keypad is the following:
! inline [?] (here address image to be seen)
Text that we want to look like title plus description
«1 button«=»link to where button 1 leads«,
«2 button«=»link to where button 2 leads«,
That code that I have left above as a template, is a template to make a message with an image, a descriptive text and that includes two buttons which will be links that can be to web pages, a file from a group or Telegram channel, a link inviting or redirecting to any channel or group Telegram public, or even to a shared link of our cloud accounts to for example share in a different way our family photos hosted for example in MEGA. The fact is that its usefulness is practically unlimited to what it allows us to create our imagination.
Example of a message with multiple buttons combining parallel buttons plus elongated buttons and the option share and reactions
If you want to start rehearsing with this message with buttons and follow the video tutorial that I have left you at the beginning of the post where I explain everything to you in detail, you just have to copy and paste the template that I have left a little above in a text note in your terminal and thus be able to use it whenever you want by just filling in the fields that I have left you in bold, knowing that each field marked in bold corresponds to the following concepts that will be displayed in your message with buttons:
To finish tell you that the composition of the buttons depends on whether or not we include a comma at the end of the buttonSo this example would be of a keypad with two buttons, one up and one down, plus the share button and the reactions button:
«Button 1» = «link to where button 1 leads»,
«Button 2» = «link to where button 2 leads»,
If we wanted the buttons were next to each other, then the composition of the keypad of our message with buttons would be the following:
«Button 1» = «link to where button 1 leads»
«Button 2» = «link to where button 2 leads»,
This would be the composition of example of a message with three more buttons share with the first two buttons in parallel and the Share and Reactions button:
«Button 1» = «link to where button 1 leads»
«Button 2» = «link to where button 2 leads»,
«Button 3» = «link to where button 3 leads»
Finally, tell you that the image that we want to be shown in our message can perfectly be an image taken from the Internet, for this we will only have to select the image from the browser and select the option of copy image address.
If we want to further personalize our message and put an image from our gallery for example, then tWe will end up sending the image in question to the Ban | Hammer botThis is done in the same way that we send any photograph to any of our contacts, with the difference that once uploaded to the Ban | Hammer bot chat, we will have to click on it gently to select the answer option and enter the following command:
This what he will do is upload the photo in question to the Imgur cloud to host it on your server and send us the link we need to place the image as an image to show in our message with buttons.
Although you have if read it all seems a bit confusing, I can assure you that as soon as you do it a couple of times and you get the practice and the syntax or composition of the message with buttons, it is a matter of just 30 seconds before you send a message with a button panel with a button plus a reaction or like button and a share button, the latter essential to be able to forward it to whoever you want.
Apart from reading this post carefully so that you understand the concepts that I want to explain in it, I advise you to take it as a kind of practical exercise and do practice while watching the video since that way you will see everything much easier.

How to send a message to a Telegram channel using the HTTP bot sendMessage API
Here’s a practical example how to send a message to a Telegram channel using a Telegram Bot and the HTTP bot sendMessage API.
In order to be able to do so, you will have to the following:
After you’ve completed the steps above, we can now go ahead and send a message to the channel by issuing and HTTP GET request to the Telegram BOT API at the following URL (you can do this in your browser):
BOT_API_KEY is the API Key generated by BotFather when you created your bot
CHANNEL_NAME is the handle of your public channel (e.g. @channel_name)
MESSAGE_TEXT is the message you want to send (URL-encoded)
Example HTTP API call response:
So far, so good, but let’s consider that you’ll want this new channel to be private so that only you and the bot (and whoever you decide to invite in the channel) will see the messages.
So we need to make the channel private, however in doing so our above HTTP API call will stop working and this is what trying to prublish a message will look like:
So now the API call becomes:
And voila, you now have a private Telegram channel, where you can send messages via the HTTP bot sendMessage API. This can be very useful when you have some online services that provide you with a callback mechanism and can call you HTTP API endpoint so that you get notified of whatever in real time.
Send and Receive Messages with the Telegram API
Telegram is a modern cross-platform messaging app that I use frequently for group messages. Since I use it everyday and it has an open API, I thought it would be a convenient interface for some small project ideas I’ve had recently.
To register a bot, you need to talk with “TheBotfather” in the Telegram app.
You can find it here https://telegram.me/botfather or by searching for “botfather” in the Telegram app.
In the chat with The Botfather, enter “/newbot”. It will ask you for a name then a username for your bot. Once you provide both, The Botfather will provide you with a link to your bot and an API token.
Follow the link to your bot by clicking the link that looks like t.me/
Go ahead and send a message to your bot. To prevent spam, bots cannot initiate a chat, so we need to send it a message to enable the bot to message us back. We will read this message via the Telegram API to get the chat_id in the next step.
Next, lets call the Telegram API to get our chat_id. If you have curl installed, you can read the message you just sent via the terminal with the getUpdates method:
Note: the format is /botXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX/, there are no backslashes or delimiters between the word bot and your API Token.
or with Python 3:
It should then return a JSON payload that looks something like this:
If you just got this, you might have forgotten to send a message to your bot:
Take the
Now you can send messages in a similar fashion using the sendMessage method:
or with python3
and you should get back a receipt, but more importantly you now have a message from your bot in the Telegram app!
Up next, we will run a basic Telegram bot from AWS Lambda. Check it out here: Running a Serverless Telegram Bot from AWS Lambda

Below you can quickly go to the desired section of the Telegram FAQ:
General Questions About Telegram
Telegram is useful for everyone who appreciates reliable communication and high-quality calls. Telegram chats and groups can be a very good option for doing business and communicating between colleagues. And the reliability of communication via Telegrams and the security of correspondence are excellent bonuses when communicating with your family and your loved ones.
Telegram also boasts numerous graphical features, powerful file sharing capabilities, and ease of account management.
Why Telegram Doesn’t Work And What to Do?
If Telegram doesn’t work, read this article:
Who is Telegram For?
Telegram is suitable for everyone who needs a fast and reliable way of Internet communication. Be in touch with family and loved ones all the time, do business or have an always available source of information, music or books at hand. Telegram is suitable for all of the above. In addition, the Telegram platform provides ample opportunities for sending files (including very large ones), and also gives the user the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of animated elements (gifs, stickers and emojis) that make communication more lively, vivid and emotional.
How Does Telegram Differ From WhatsApp?
Unlike WhatsApp, Telegram is a cloud messenger with seamless synchronization. As a result, users have access to their own correspondence from any device, including tablets and computers, and can exchange an unlimited number of photos, videos and other files (doc, zip, mp3, etc.) within two gigabytes.
That is, if you do not want to store all this data on your device, you can always save it in the cloud of the Telegram messenger. In general, Telegram gives users a much more convenient and flexible interface for managing their own messages than the WhatsApp messenger has. And unlike WhatsApp, the delivery of messages to Telegram does not lag when the Internet is weak.
We recommend watching the video where we have prepared the reasons why Telegram is better than WhatsApp:
Why Telegram is better than WhatsAppHow Does Telegram Differs from Viber
It is important to note that Telegram takes up much less space on mobile devices than the Viber application. In addition, a mobile device is the primary device for creating a Viber account. It is impossible to create an account on the desktop version in Viber, it can only be synchronized if you have already created an account on a mobile device.Telegram is free from such restrictions – you can create a new account from absolutely any device.
Another important advantage of Telegram is the complete absence of any advertising and subscription fees. The functionality of secret chats is also simpler, clearer and more convenient in Telegram.
How Old is Telegram
The first client version of Telegram was presented to the public on August 14, 2013. It was intended for iOS. The alpha version of Telegram for Android was officially released on October 20, 2013. Since then, the Telegram messenger has been constantly improving and developing for 7 years already.
What Devices Can I Use
Telegram is suitable for absolutely any device: personal computers, smartphones and tablets. You can also use the web version and log into Telegram online or install a desktop application.
Our API is open to developers, in case you want to create your own application for other platforms.
Who is Behind Telegram
The Telegram project arose thanks to the successful teamwork of the brothers Pavel and Nikolai Durov. As part of the work on creating and improving the platform, Pavel Durov took over the media, ideological and business part of the project, while Nikolai Durov is the chief architect of the technical part of the Telegram project.
While creating the Telegram architecture, Nikolay developed a unique data transfer protocol that is open, secure and optimized for working in the most dispersed storage of information. As a result, Telegram combines security, reliability and speed on any network.
Pavel Durov. Facts about the creator of TelegramIn Which Country is Telegram Based
The Telegram development team works in Dubai. However, most of the team was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. The developers were forced to leave Russia due to a conflict with the Russian authorities, seeking to gain access to the Telegram databases.
Having tried several cities as a place of work, including Berlin, London and Singapore, the guys settled in Dubai.
Will Telegram Show Ads? Or Sell User Data?
No, Telegram has existed without ads for many years, and no one, including the developers themselves, has full access to user data at the moment. This situation was one of the guiding ideas of the Telegram project.
How Does Telegram Make Money
The source of Telegram’s existence for many years has been the generous sponsorship of Pavel Durov. Making a profit has never been the direct goal of Telegram.
What is Telegram’s Position On Online Privacy
The Telegram team considers one of its most important tasks to be the protection of personal data and people’s conversations from encroachments from third parties, as well as protecting its users from unsolicited advertising.
Unlike other big internet companies (like Facebook or Google) The position of the Telegram development team is that it is not enough to create superficial privacy tools in the form of the ability to optionally hide your messages. Confidentiality should be initially built into the structure of the messenger and effectively exclude the possibility of unauthorized people accessing other people’s information.
Therefore, instead of distracting public attention by creating minimal security settings, and leaving the rest as before, the Telegram development team from the very beginning of the project builds a consistent system that does not allow concentrating too much information about the user in one hand.
What About GDPR
Telegram stores only the information that it needs to work as a multifunctional cloud service – for example, chats in the cloud so that you can access them from any devices without using third-party backups or your contacts so that you can freely communicate with all people via Telegram.
You can also use the @GDPRbot bot to request a copy of all your data that Telegram stores, or contact the Telegram team about data privacy.
Since Telegram initially stood on the position of non-interference in privacy, the European GDPR rules were observed in practice by Telegram even before the rules themselves appeared.
Please see our Privacy Policy for more information.
There is Illegal Content on Telegram. How to Deal With This?
All chats and group chats in Telegram are private for their members and the Telegram team does not process requests for them.
However, when it comes to public content: sticker packs, bots, and channel content, a different principle works here.
If you find sets of stickers or bots in Telegram that, in your opinion, violate the law, you can contact the Telegram team at:
You can also use the «Complain» button by right-clicking on content that is questionable from your point of view. In the event that any fraudster tries to pretend to be you, contact @NoToScam
Wait! So Does Telegram Process Requests From Third Parties or Not?
The mission of Telegram is to provide a reliable and secure means of communication for residents of as many countries as possible. Due to this, the platform is forced to reckon with the requirements of the legislation of various states and, to process requests for the removal of illegal public content.
Stickers, bots and emojis uploaded by users are not directly part of the Telegram interface, but in theory they may violate local legislation. In this case, Telegram is forced to take action. Whenever we receive a complaint to abuse@telegram.org or dmca@telegram.org regarding the legality of the content, we carry out the necessary legal checks and remove them when we deem appropriate.
However, this rule does not apply to restrictions on freedom of speech. Telegram is never engaged in political censorship anywhere.
Does Telegram Process Requests For Data?
Secret chats use end-to-end encryption, so Telegram has no information to disclose at all.
A distributed infrastructure is used to protect data that is not covered by end-to-end encryption. Cloud chat data is stored in multiple data centers around the world, located in different jurisdictions and controlled by different legal entities.
The decryption keys are split into parts and are never stored in the same place with the data they encrypt. As a result, it is almost impossible to demand any information based on a court order from only one jurisdiction. Any unprotected information is always distributed across several jurisdictions. Thanks to such a structure, Telegram can ensure that no government or even their bloc can interfere with people’s privacy and freedom of expression.
To date, Telegram has exposed exactly 0 bytes of user data to third parties, including governments.
Telegram Main Features
Telegram provides a lot of opportunities for communication with people you are interested in, as well as access to a lot of useful content that is generated by other users of the messenger in public channels.
To Whom Can I Write?
You can write to those people who are in your phone contacts, who have their own Telegram account.
An additional way to find a person is to enter the Telegram username in the search field. In order to make it easier for other people to find you in Telegram, we advise you to choose a username for your account. Other people will be able to find you by this name, even if they do not know your number.
How to Find Out Which Of My Contacts Has Telegram Installed
People from your phone book who already have Telegram are displayed in the list of your contacts when you log into your account.
How Can I Invite Friends
When using Telegram on iOS, the main invitation method is SMS messages. They can be sent via iMessage or as standard messages at your carrier’s rate.
But there are other ways to invite to telegram. So, you can send your friends a download link: https://telegram.org/dl/ — on Facebook, WhatsApp, email or any other messaging client.
Android makes it even easier. First, open the menu of the Telegram application, click on the three bars in the upper left and select «Invite friends». And then select the application with which you want to send invitations.
On Windows Phone, click “Contacts,” and then “Invite Friends.” Then select the application with which you want to send invitations.
You can also give your friends the t.me/ link with your username so that you can be found in Telegram without even knowing your phone number.
Why Enter a Code From SMS
The SMS code is a confirmation that the phone to which the Telegram account is linked really belongs to you. Thus, along with a password, this is one of the ways to protect your account from hacking. After sending you an SMS, enter a one-time password from there, or wait for the operator to call (who will dictate a password to you).
What Do The Green Check Marks Mean
We do not have the «delivered to device» status for messages, because Telegram can work on any number of devices.
Can I Hide My «Last Visit»?
Yes it is possible. You can choose in your privacy and security settings who will see this information.
Remember, though, that if you don’t share your last visit with people, you won’t see their timestamp details either.
There are four possible statuses:
Who Can See Me «Online»
People can only see you online if you share your latest status with them.
There are some exceptions to this rule because sometimes it is obvious that you are online. For example, if you read a person’s messages or wrote back in a private or public chat, then it is obvious that at that moment you were online.
Regardless of the latest settings, people will see you online for a short period of time (
30 seconds) if you do the following:
Can I Delete My Messages?
Yes, you can delete your message at any time by simply clicking on it and choosing the «delete» option. At the same time, you can delete this message not only from yourself, but also from the interlocutor, simply by selecting the appropriate checkbox. In the same way, you can clean up the chat in general.
Can I Make Calls Via Telegram
Yes, calls via Telegram are very convenient and available for free to users all over the world. You can read more about calls to Telegram in our article.
Can I Make Video Calls
Video calls to Telegram will be available until the end of 2020, expect updates.
How to Share My Contacts Into Groups (Colleagues / Friends)
Unfortunately, there is no such function in Telegram yet.
How Can I Use Emoji In Telegram
Our article will tell you more about emoji in Telegram.
Telegram Username
In this section, we will tell you everything about the username in Telegram.
What is Username? How Do I Get It?
Telegram has a function that allows you to select a public «username», that is, a nickname. If you configure this function, then other users will be able to find you by this name and will be able to send you messages even if they do not know your phone number. Accordingly, if this does not suit you, you should not configure this function and choose your public username.
How t.me Works
Once you’ve set up your username, you’ll be able to give people a link to t.me/username. Opening this link on the device of your interlocutor will automatically launch the Telegram application and open a chat with you. You can share your username links with your friends, place them on your business cards, or place them on your website.
Thus, people can contact you via Telegram without even knowing your phone number.
What Name Can Choose
The letters of the English alphabet from a-z, numbers 0-9 and underscore are the possible components of your name in Telegram. In addition, usernames are not case sensitive, but Telegram will save your settings for entering capital letters. Username must be at least five characters long.
Do I Need a Username?
It is not necessary, but convenient. However, if you do not want people to be able to find you by searching even without knowing your number, then we do not recommend setting up this function.
If Someone Finds Ne By My Username, Text Me Messages And I Answer, Will My Number Be Recognized?
No, that won’t happen. Properly configured privacy settings will protect your phone number in the same way as if you were communicating in a public chat.
How Do I Delete My Username
Just go to Settings and save a blank username. People will no longer be able to find you through search, and this will not affect existing dialogs.
What To Do If My Username is Taken
Priority is given to the one who first took such a name. In this case, you can try to pick another one for yourself. However, Telegram takes into account the possibility of a situation when this particular name is an important part of your identity on the Internet. And you can claim this name for yourself, provided you have the same username on at least two of these three platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
In exceptional cases, Telegram can revoke usernames from unused bots and channels, as well as openly «stolen» names.
What If Someone Pretends To Be Me?
Be sure to contact @NoToScam.
Safety
Security is one of the main competitive advantages of Telegram and you can safely entrust the most confidential correspondence to this messenger.
How Secure Is Telegram
Telegram is based on the MTProto protocol, which is based on time-tested algorithms that provide security along with high delivery speed and reliability even with weak connections.
Thus, Telegram is safer than other popular instant messengers such as WhatsApp and Viber.
What If I’m Paranoid?
Special secret Telegram chats use end-to-end encryption, do not leave traces on Telegram servers, support self-destructing messages and do not allow their transfer. In addition, secret chats are not part of the Telegram cloud and are only available on devices from which correspondence is being conducted.
Since You Encrypt Data
Telegram boasts two levels of secure encryption. Server and client encryption is used in chats whose information is stored in the cloud, while secret chats use an additional layer of client-to-client encryption.
All data, regardless of its type, is encrypted in the same way — be it text, media, or other files.
Data encryption in Telegram is based on 256-bit symmetric AES encryption, 2048-bit RSA encryption, and secure Diffie-Hellman key exchange. You can find more information in the Advanced FAQ
Why Should I Trust Telegram?
Anyone can check the source code, protocol and API, see how everything works, and make an informed decision. Due to the fact that the Telegram code is open, experts can independently verify whether the code published on GitHub is the same code that is used to build applications downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
We invite security experts to audit our system and would be grateful for any feedback at security@telegram.org
What If I Hacked Telegram?
Can Telegram Protect Me From Everything?
Telegram is irreplaceable when it comes to data transmission and secure communication. This means that all data (including media and files) that you send and receive via Telegram, cannot be decrypted when intercepted by your Internet provider, the owners of the Wi-Fi routers to which you connect and other third parties.
But please remember that Telegram is helpless to protect you from family members who read non-password messages on your own phone or from employees of the IT department at your work, if they gain access to your computer, or from any other people who gain physical or root access to your phones or computers running the Telegram application.
If for some reason you are worried about your personal safety, then use only secret chats in the official Telegram application, and also choose a strong password for your device. Both options are available in the «Settings» column, subsection «Privacy and Security».
How Two-Step Verification Works
Logging into your account using the code received via SMS is a standard and basic security measure, however, you can always strengthen it by additionally setting an entry password, that is, a cloud password in Telegram.
You can do this by going to Settings> Privacy & Security> Two-Step Verification. After setting a password to enter the system, you will henceforth need both the SMS code and your password to enter.
You can provide for the possibility of password recovery through a mailbox specially tied to the account, but remember that such a mailbox itself must be well protected from hacking.
Check out these tips for creating a strong password that’s easy to remember.
Your Telegram Account
Now we will tell you about the interesting moments of using your Telegram account.
Who Can See My Phone Number
In Telegram, you can send messages in private chats and groups without making your phone number public.
By default, your number will be visible only to those who are in your phone book. This can always be changed in Settings> Privacy & Security> Phone Number.
Note that people will always see your number if they already know it and have saved it in their address book.
I Have a New Phone Number, What Should I Do?
Each phone number is a separate Telegram account. You have several options if you are using multiple phone numbers:
How Can I Log Out Of Telegram
If you want to log out of your Telegram account for some reason, here’s how you do it:
IOS: Go to Settings> Edit> Sign Out.
On Android, Telegram Desktop: Go to Settings> three dots (top right corner)> Sign out.
How Can I Change My Phone Number
To change your number, go to Settings, then click on your phone number (just above your username), then Change Number.
If you already have another Telegram account on the target number, you need to delete this account first.
How Can I Delete My Telegram Account? What Happens if I Delete My Account?
You can delete your account on the deactivation page. Deleting your account permanently deletes all your messages and contacts. All groups and channels you create remain without a creator, but administrators retain their rights. For more information on how to delete a Telegram account and what the consequences will be, read our article: how to delete a Telegram account.
This action must be confirmed with your Telegram account and cannot be canceled.
How Does Account Self-Destruction Work?
If you do not use Telegram for at least 6 months, the account will be deleted automatically along with all its contents: messages, chats, contacts and any other data.
You can change the timeline for auto-deleting an account in the settings, and this is described in detail in our article on deleting Telegram.
My Phone Was Stolen, What Should I Do?
If at the time of the theft of your phone you are still logged into your account on one of your remaining devices and you have two-factor authentication installed when you log into your account, then, perhaps, you will have time to enter your account settings from any device under your control and terminate the telegram session on the phone stolen from you.
However, for a long time this is not a solution, since linking an account to a number is the main method of authentication in Telegram, and without regaining control of the phone number itself, you will be severely limited in the future use of your account. In such a situation, you can advise either to get a phone number recovery from the operator, or to link a new phone number to your Telegram account, as described above.
In case the phone was the only device on which you were logged into your account – without restoring access to the phone number, it will not be possible to save the telegram account.
Groups and Channels
In Telegram, you can communicate not only in individual chats, but also create entire groups, even from a large number of users, make open or closed chats, and, most importantly, create your own telegram channels in order to broadcast your knowledge, skills or point of view to the largest possible audience.
Secret Chats
For people who want to further protect their correspondence in Telegram, there is an opportunity to communicate in secret chats. All messages in secret chats use end-to-end encryption.
Bots are actually small programs that run right inside Telegram and exist in order to perform various useful functions and simplify the lives of users.
Their purpose can be very different: from games, searching for information and news to advertising and trading. Bots are created by third party developers using the Telegram Bot API.
Although Telegram has several official bots for specific purposes (like @gif or @GDPRbot), bots are usually created by third-party developers. It is not difficult to create bots for Telegram, but it requires at least minimal programming skills. If you have them, you are quite capable of creating your own bots for Telegram.
Other Questions
In this part we will try to briefly touch on the rest of the questions about Telegram.
Why Not Open All The Code
The goal of the Telegram team is to fully open the code. It started with the discovery of a well-documented API that allows users and external developers to create new Telegram applications on their own.
Is It Possible to Run Telegram Using Your Own Server
Telegram architecture does not yet support such integration.
Telegram is a unified cloud service, so the artificial creation of forks in which two users can be in two different Telegram clouds is unacceptable.
Can I Use Telegram API
Indeed, third-party developers can use the Telegram API protocol and even the source code. Do not forget about the API bot, with which you can create very interesting things on the Telegram platform.
Does Telegram Have a Privacy Policy?
Telegram privacy policy is contained on its official website. Its main principle is the protection of users’ personal data.
Can I Help?
Telegram is looking for volunteers who are ready to help users. If you are interested in answering user requests in your country, you can contact the Telegram team and have an interview.
Check out Telegram’s support initiative before submitting your application.
Telegram Passport
Telegram passport is a unified authorization method for receiving services that require mandatory identification. Having uploaded your documents to the Telegram cloud once, you will be able to share your data with services that need your identifier in the future.
At the same time, secure, distributed encryption will reliably protect your documents from access by any third parties (including the Telegram command itself).

Telegram writes: “Too many attempts, try again later” – what to do?
Intensive life in messengers and social networks has the reverse side of the coin: sometimes you get so carried away with any actions in the service that the system unwittingly begins to see you as a spammer. Or it’s not about the actions of the user, but about the flaws of the site’s program code and Internet glitches. As a result, many have already encountered the message “too many login attempts” from Telegram. We will talk about this problem today, about its causes and solutions.
Well, before we start, we want to recommend our SMS activation service «Grizzly Sms» to you. With it, you can purchase virtual numbers for any messengers and social networks, and use them to register and successfully log in to the selected sites. Only from a few cents for receiving SMS with a verification code! You are guaranteed to get rid of problems like “too many attempts». Telegram, VK, Google, Facebook – all popular services will open doors for you simply, quickly and completely anonymously!
Many attempts to log in to Telegram: the main causes of the problem
If you are faced with the warning “too many attempts, try again later” from Telegram, it means that a moment earlier you performed one of the actions:
Let’s take a closer look at each situation.
Telegram error: many attempts to send messages
If you are a mega-active messenger user and are fond of sending short messages frequently, get ready to receive a message from Telegram “sorry, too many attempts, repeat later». It will mean that in a minute you have tried to send more messages than the system limit has set (i.e. more than 50 messages).
In addition, if you send advertising messages, another user may complain about you, which will also lead to a temporary restriction of your activity.
Tip: Don’t break long messages into pieces. And if you really do promotional mailings, do them inside a reliable group.
Telegram error “many attempts» in case of a security glitch
When the messenger servers are overloaded, and at the same time someone is trying to create an account in it, this type of error occurs when there are too many attempts from Telegram to get a message with a verification code. The user, without waiting for the SMS with the code, presses the “Repeat” button, and does so several times.
The same situation occurs when trying to log in to an existing account (which also happens by verifying by phone number). As a result, a security system is triggered, which regards your actions as an attempt to hack your account.
Tip: if you do not receive an SMS for a long time, you should not request it again several times from Telegrams. Too many attempts, try logging in later (after about 10-15 minutes).
Telegram error: Many login in/out attempts
If you exceed the limit of login in/out to one account, the user will also face a restriction of activity. Too many attempts in Telegram to perform these actions can lead to a ban for 24 hours, which is very unpleasant. But don’t get upset. At the end of the restriction period, the system will return you full control over your account.
If you have received a similar notification from Telegram “too many attempts”, how to fix the situation? Unfortunately, in this case, only time will solve the problem.
Many attempts to log in to Telegram: how long to wait?
Very often time plays an important role, and every hour, every minute or even a second is important. Therefore, many who have received a notification from Telegram “too many attempts” will want to know how long to wait. You can do this in the web version of the messenger.
You will need to open the page web.telegram.org and try to log in to your account. This action will not be successful, but the “show technical data» button will appear. Clicking on it, you will see the entry “Flood_wait_XXXX”, where XXXX will be the number of remaining seconds of waiting until the possibility of a successful re-entry.

A simple, but extensible Python implementation for the Telegram Bot API.
Both synchronous and asynchronous.
Supported Bot API version: 6.2!
This API is tested with Python 3.6-3.10 and Pypy 3. There are two ways to install the library:
It is generally recommended to use the first option.
While the API is production-ready, it is still under development and it has regular updates, do not forget to update it regularly by calling
Writing your first bot
A simple echo bot
Note: Make sure to actually replace TOKEN with your own API token.
After that declaration, we need to register some so-called message handlers. Message handlers define filters which a message must pass. If a message passes the filter, the decorated function is called and the incoming message is passed as an argument.
Let’s define a message handler which handles incoming /start and /help commands.
A function which is decorated by a message handler can have an arbitrary name, however, it must have only one parameter (the message).
Let’s add another handler:
This one echoes all incoming text messages back to the sender. It uses a lambda function to test a message. If the lambda returns True, the message is handled by the decorated function. Since we want all messages to be handled by this function, we simply always return True.
Note: all handlers are tested in the order in which they were declared
We now have a basic bot which replies a static message to «/start» and «/help» commands and which echoes the rest of the sent messages. To start the bot, add the following to our source file:
Alright, that’s it! Our source file now looks like this:
To start the bot, simply open up a terminal and enter python echo_bot.py to run the bot! Test it by sending commands (‘/start’ and ‘/help’) and arbitrary text messages.
General API Documentation
You can use some types in one function. Example:
content_types=[«text», «sticker», «pinned_message», «photo», «audio»]
General use of the API
Outlined below are some general use cases of the API.
A message handler is a function that is decorated with the message_handler decorator of a TeleBot instance. Message handlers consist of one or multiple filters. Each filter must return True for a certain message in order for a message handler to become eligible to handle that message. A message handler is declared in the following way (provided bot is an instance of TeleBot):
name | argument(s) | Condition |
---|---|---|
content_types | list of strings (default [‘text’] ) | True if message.content_type is in the list of strings. |
regexp | a regular expression as a string | True if re.search(regexp_arg) returns True and message.content_type == ‘text’ (See Python Regular Expressions) |
commands | list of strings | True if message.content_type == ‘text’ and message.text starts with a command that is in the list of strings. |
chat_types | list of chat types | True if message.chat.type in your filter |
func | a function (lambda or function reference) | True if the lambda or function reference returns True |
Here are some examples of using the filters and message handlers:

Additional API features
There are other examples using middleware handler in the examples/middleware directory.
There are class-based middlewares. Basic class-based middleware looks like this:
Class-based middleware should have to functions: post and pre process. So, as you can see, class-based middlewares work before and after handler execution. For more, check out in examples
Also, you can use built-in custom filters. Or, you can create your own filter.
Also, we have examples on them. Check this links:
You can check some built-in filters in source code
If you want to add some built-in filter, you are welcome to add it in custom_filters.py file.
Here is example of creating filter-class:
The last example yields this result:
Working with entities
This object represents one special entity in a text message. For example, hashtags, usernames, URLs, etc. Attributes:
Advanced use of the API
Using local Bot API Sever
Since version 5.0 of the Bot API, you have the possibility to run your own Local Bot API Server. pyTelegramBotAPI also supports this feature.
Important: Like described here, you have to log out your bot from the Telegram server before switching to your local API server. in pyTelegramBotAPI use bot.log_out()
Note: 4200 is an example port
New: There is an asynchronous implementation of telebot. To enable this behaviour, create an instance of AsyncTeleBot instead of TeleBot.
Now, every function that calls the Telegram API is executed in a separate asynchronous task. Using AsyncTeleBot allows you to do the following:
Sending large text messages
Sometimes you must send messages that exceed 5000 characters. The Telegram API can not handle that many characters in one request, so we need to split the message in multiples. Here is how to do that using the API:
Or you can use the new smart_split function to get more meaningful substrings:
Controlling the amount of Threads used by TeleBot
The TeleBot constructor takes the following optional arguments:
The listener mechanism
As an alternative to the message handlers, one can also register a function as a listener to TeleBot.
NOTICE: handlers won’t disappear! Your message will be processed both by handlers and listeners. Also, it’s impossible to predict which will work at first because of threading. If you use threaded=False, custom listeners will work earlier, after them handlers will be called. Example:
Using web hooks
When using webhooks telegram sends one Update per call, for processing it you should call process_new_messages([update.message]) when you recieve it.
There are some examples using webhooks in the examples/webhook_examples directory.
You can use the Telebot module logger to log debug info about Telebot. Use telebot.logger to get the logger of the TeleBot module. It is possible to add custom logging Handlers to the logger. Refer to the Python logging module page for more info.
You can use proxy for request. apihelper.proxy object will use by call requests proxies argument.
You can disable or change the interaction with real Telegram server by using
parameter. You can pass there your own function that will be called instead of requests.request.
Then you can use API and proceed requests in your handler code.
custom_sender. method: post, url: https://api.telegram.org/botololo/sendMessage, params:
API conformance limitations
Asynchronous version of telebot
We have a fully asynchronous version of TeleBot. This class is not controlled by threads. Asyncio tasks are created to execute all the stuff.
Echo Bot example on AsyncTeleBot:
As you can see here, keywords are await and async.
Why should I use async?
Asynchronous tasks depend on processor performance. Many asynchronous tasks can run parallelly, while thread tasks will block each other.
Differences in AsyncTeleBot
AsyncTeleBot is asynchronous. It uses aiohttp instead of requests module.

How can I distinguish a User and a GroupChat in message.chat?
Telegram Bot API support new type Chat for message.chat.
How can I handle reocurring ConnectionResetErrors?
Bot instances that were idle for a long time might be rejected by the server when sending a message due to a timeout of the last used session. Add apihelper.SESSION_TIME_TO_LIVE = 5 * 60 to your initialisation to force recreation after 5 minutes without any activity.

Each message in a channel has a view counter that gets updated when the message is viewed, including its forwarded copies.
iOS: Start a new message (tap the icon in the top right corner in Chats) > ‘New Group’.
