Featured Character
Shirley Fenette (シャーリー・フェネット, Shārī Fenetto), 17 years old (18 at R2), is a secondary protagonist in the Code Geass series. Shirley is awarded 19th place in the 29th Anime Grand Prix for Favorite Female Character. She is voiced by Fumiko Orikasa (Japanese) and by Amy Kincaid (English).
Shirley is a cheery and upbeat student at Ashford Academy and a member of its student council. She is also in the school’s swimming club. Shirley goes out of her way to make others feel accepted, as she is the first student to try to approach Suzaku Kururugi after his transfer into the school.
She is infatuated with Lelouch, and finds it difficult to get his attention. She is described as a girl who «fishes for attention» by Mao. Although not particularly clingy, she tends to be irked when seeing Lelouch with other girls or when Lelouch suddenly hangs up the phone on her from time to time. Read more »
Featured Knightmare Frame
The ‘Shinkirō’ (蜃気楼 Shinkirō) is an Eighth Generation Transformable Knightmare Frame constructed for Zero’s (Lelouch vi Britannia’s) personal use. It possesses an integrated Air Glide System for flight and can transform into a submarine/jet fighter to move underwater and/or fly, which Lelouch uses to travel to and from Japan undetected. Its Armour is primarily black and gold, and it has several unusual physical features. Its feet are not round, instead consisting of eight large toes, and its head has four eyes. Its cockpit is also much wider. In addition to the standard control yoke system, the Shinkirō has keyboard-based controls similar to those used on the Gawain.
The Shinkirō possesses an Absolute Defense System (絶対守護領域, Zettai Shugo Ryōiki) system which uses an array of hexagonal energy shields that can be projected over any part of the Knightmare. Its Druid System, adapted from the Gawain, plots the trajectories of incoming projectiles and shifts the shields accordingly, giving the Shinkirō the highest defensive power of any Knightmare Frame. All these are controlled by the Druid system and the keyboard-based controls. The system requires incredibly complex calculations to form effective barriers, such that it takes an intellect on the level of Lelouch to use the system to its full potential. When Rolo Lamperouge attempts to use it, he is only able to erect a meagre defense with a number of weak spots. At its full potential, the Absolute Defense System can block a sustained point-blank blast from the Mordred’s Stark Hadron Cannon, albeit at the cost of much of its power reserves.Read more »

Geass
Geass (ギアス Giasu) is a supernatural ability which certain people can bestow upon others. C.C. is the most prominent character who grants the power of Geass.
Contents
Overview
The Geass manifests differently in each individual, possibly related to their inner desires and personality. The power of Geass increases with use, and should the user lack the willpower, they may be consumed by it, which was the case with Mao. C.C. calls Geass the Power of Kings, and though she is unable to use the power herself, she is immune to the power being used on her. In the final episode of the second season, Lelouch states that the Geass is a form of wish (referring to himself and C.C.). However, people who have Geass are not immune to the Geass effects of others. The Geass is represented by a glowing, bird-shaped symbol.
Every Geass, while powerful, has its own unique set of restrictions, limitations, or idiosyncrasies. These factors allow a Geass to be defeated, or its power limited, by someone who is aware of its characteristics. All Geass abilities that have thus far appeared within the canon of the television series have been related to the mind, influencing such things as will, thought, memory and perception. Geass abilities in the alternate universe manga Nightmare of Nunnally have no such limitations. All Geass, regardless of user, appear in only one eye in the initial stages. Eventually, assuming the user lives long enough, the Geass will eventually begin to grow until it shows on both eyes, seemingly as a result of repeated use, or pushing the Geass to exceed its own limits. However, overuse and/or mental instability can lead to an affliction known as «runaway Geass» that causes the user to become unable to control their Geass, making it become permanently active.
The only cases of people who manifested a «perfect» Geass are Charles zi Britannia, Dash and Lelouch (in Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection), who both showed their ability to activate their Geass at will, yet possess Geass in both eyes. Once the Geass evolves to two eyes, it is strong enough to take the Code of a Code Bearer, thereby rendering the former Code Bearer mortal again, making them an Immortal who is immune to all Geass and who loses his/her own Geass ability.
It should be noted that the death of the former Code Bearer is not a requisite for the Code transfer. This is evidenced by the fact that V.V. was still alive for quite a while after Charles already got his Code. Charles did not kill V.V., he merely succumbed to his injuries from the battle with Lelouch and Cornelia. It should also be noted that C.C. was also giving people Geass with the hopes they would render her mortal once their Geass reached maximum strength, so she could commit suicide like the nun did before her.
According to an English edition of «Newtype», the power of Geass has something to do with the very existence of humankind, and it may be used to destroy, control, or transform just about anything. This is because the «gods» of the Geass universe are actually a collection of subconscious and will that are always in conflict, and one with a powerful Geass could influence it, as Lelouch does in the series, and Charles seemingly does, and with a proper system, can also influence reality, which is the concept behind the Sword Of Akasha.
There appears to be something that connects Geass users and the ones they form contracts with, allowing them to sense certain changes in the other. C.C. was able to sense exactly when Lelouch’s Geass went runaway, while Orpheus and Marrybell were both able to sense when V.V. died through a pain they felt in their Geass.
Geass Users
A Geass user is a person who possesses the power of Geass. A person acquires Geass by making a contract with an immortal Code Bearer who formerly possessed Geass. The power of Geass increases with use, and should the user lack the willpower, they may be consumed by it, which was the case with Mao.
World History
The World of Code Geass.
The World History of the Code Geass Universe differs markedly from our own, mostly in the outcome of major battles and war, but also in the appearance of materials like Sakuradite and immortals like C.C..

Calendars
The Imperial Calendar refers to the date and setting Code Geass uses in the English version, in which years are labeled as a.t.b or «Ascension Throne Britannia». It is set to the date the first Celtic super-king, Alwin I, was elected by the united British tribes to battle Rome, becoming the first member of the modern Britannian imperial family. This calendar is used by the Holy Empire of Britannia. It functions similarly to the standard Gregorian Calendar (B.C.E./C.E. or alternatively B.C./A.D.), but starts half a century earlier.
As referenced in Code Geass: Akito the Exiled, the Europia United shown is using the French Republican Calendar. The first entry in Leila Malcal’s journal in the first episode of Code Geass: Akito the Exiled is dated as «Revolutionary Calendar, year 228, Floréal 18th» (a.t.b. May 7, 2017), and in the second episode «Revolutionary Calendar, year 228, Prairial 7th» (a.t.b. May 26th, 2017).
Following the death of Emperor Lelouch at the hands of Zero, a new calendar system is adopted from the following year on, referred to as Light Sum.

World of Code Geass
The World of Code Geass is an alternate universe where the Holy Britannian Empire, an international superpower, has expanded its influence over a large portion of the planet.
Contents
Setting
Expansion of the Britannian Empire, 2017.
The World of Code Geass is mainly divided amongst three international superpowers: the Holy Britannian Empire (shown in red), the Chinese Federation (shown in light green), and the Europia United (shown in yellow). Australia (shown in light blue) has remained independent, and is not a major player in international politics, instead becoming a neutral state akin to real-world Switzerland. The Middle Eastern Federation (shown in darker green) is not a super-nation, however, it is believed to have warm relationships with the E.U. and also being fairly democratic. The MEF is conquered quite quickly by Britannia and they soon afterwords become an imperial colony area and is likely restored to international status with the removal of the area system by Emperor Lelouch.
A map of the world, following the formation of the United Federation of Nations and the fall of the E.U. The red represents the U.F.N. while the blue represents the Holy Empire of Britannia. White nations are non-aligned.
Much of the series is set in Japan. On August 10, 2010 a.t.b., the Holy Empire of Britannia overpowered Japanese forces and conquered the country with their newly-developed robotic weapons, the Knightmare Frames, in less than a month. Japan lost its freedom, its rights, and even its name, becoming «Area 11» and its people «Elevens». The Elevens are forced to survive in ghettos while Britannians live in first-class settlements. Rebel elements persist, however, as pockets of Japanese resistance struggle against the Empire for the independence of Japan, partly due to Japan surrendering before all of its human resources would have been depleted in the struggle against the Britannian invasion. The Japanese resistance movement is supposedly unrivaled amongst such movements in other Areas, as hinted by Lelouch in episode 17 of Season 1.
After his father, Emperor Charles zi Britannia, did nothing to pursue the terrorists who murdered his mother and crippled his sister, Lelouch vi Britannia vowed to destroy Britannia after being banished from his home. Seven years later in Area 11, he encounters a mysterious girl who gives him the power of Geass. With it, he finally has the power he needs to defeat Britannia and fulfill his two wishes: to seek revenge for his mother and to create a world where his beloved sister can live happily.
The Holy Britannian Empire
Main article: Holy Empire of Britannia The Holy Britannian Empire is an imperial monarchy built from the ruins of the former British Empire and is the most prominent superpower within the world of Code Geass. Its homeland is based in North America, with additional territories spanning the western hemisphere, including the rest of the Americas, Greenland and Iceland. Britannia initially controls over one third of the world, and eventually conquered most of the world, with the rest joining UFN.
Britannian Territories
Main article: Geography of Britannia The Britannian Empire is concentrated in the Americas, holding both North and South America as its mainland.
Through various conquests, Britannia also controls New Zealand (Area 9), [1] Japan (Area 11), the Philippines (Area 12), Saudi Arabia (Area 18), and in the novels a portion of the Indochina Peninsula (Area 10), Cambodia (Area 13). Notably, contrary to its name and origin, it does not control the British Isles, having lost them to Napoleon during the Napoleonic Wars.
Japan
Main article: Area 11 Japan is the source of over 70% of the world’s total supply of sakuradite. Under the former administration of Prime Minister Genbu Kururugi and with the shadow support of the sakuradite mining industries, Japan oppressed and dominated other countries through economic control. [2] Tensions between the Britannian Empire and Japan eventually developed into a diplomatic conflict and later open war. [3] Following Japan’s defeat, it was occupied by Britannian forces, and its name was changed to Area 11. [4] As a means of cultural suppression, Britannia has eliminated the use of Kanji in proper names. [5]
Chinese Federation
Main article: Chinese Federation Shown in teal on the map, the Chinese Federation is an imperial monarchy that spans the Asian and Pacific regions, including Central Asia, South Asia, continental Eastern Asia, and Southeast Asia which include Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand (except the Philippines and Cambodia) with Sakhalin and the Korean Peninsula. Its population is the largest of the three major powers, but most live in poverty. Its political structure and organization appears to resemble the real-world Empire of China, probably that of China under the Han dynasty as its capital is located in Luo Yang the same as where the Han dynasty capital was. The Emperor of the Federation was formerly an office that held absolute political power, but it has since been reduced to an effectively symbolic figurehead posting, «a symbol of the state and the unity of the people.» As with the real-world Emperor of Japan, the individual who holds the title is regarded as a living divinity whose sovereignty is entirely ceremonial. Prior to a civilian uprising, true control of the nation lies with the brutal governmental organization known as the High Eunuchs. Following the group’s liquidation, the territories of the Federation become politically fragmented.
Under the High Eunuchs, the Federation sought to take control of Area 11 for its own purposes. In the first season, General Cao attempts unsuccessfully to set up a puppet government in Kyūshū, using the remnants of the Japanese cabinet in exile. In the second season, a Chinese consulate is established with the agreement of the local Britannian authorities, and negotiations are held by Eunuch Gao Hai to the end of obtaining a solid Chinese foothold within the colony. The Federation has long-standing hostilities with the Europia United, but this is resolved when half of the EU was conquered by Britannia while the other half joined United Federation of Nations. After joining the UFN, it changed its name to United States of China.
Europia United
Main article: Europia United Shown in yellow on the map, the Europia United (ユーロ・ユニバース, Yūro Yunibāsu), or E.U., is a democratic union [5] formed during the time of revolution (1800s). [6] It has been to be overseen by a council that meets in a location known as the Central Hemicycle (中央会議場). It is implied that before Napoleon died, he set down the foundations for the creation of the E.U., so its capital is most likely Paris or (like the real world E.U.) Brussels. [7] It has long been in conflict with Britannia, with a legendary commander stationed at the El Alamein Front(エル・アラメイン戦線, Eru Aramein Sensen) to check the Britannian advance into North Africa. [8] It encompasses all of Europe (including the British Isles), Africa, and Russia. [9] In the second season, Schneizel leads the Britannian forces against the E.U., successfully conquering almost half of their territory. The remaining EU territory either joined the UFN, or decided to remain unaligned. It is unknown whether the E.U. still exists or it has dissolved into independent states. [10]
The E.U. apparently organizes their military into left-wing and right-wing camps, and their forces are drawn from National Guard-style units from a member nation (i.e. the German National Guard, the Italian National Guard and the Dutch Engineering Corps).
Australia
Shown in white, Australia is seemingly independent of Britannia, possibly due to the historical divergence, causing no English settlers to be sent and no penal colony established. However, this is questionable given the circumstances, as Australia was discovered by the Dutch in 1606, and the Netherlands were a separate European nation from Tudor Dynasty Britannia at this time. Furthermore, it is implied by Mao to be populated in the episode «Cheering Mao,» and is may be solely populated by native Australian Aborigines, however this seems unlikely due to the reason that to leave a large amount of land with masses of resources unconquered highly incomprehensible.
United Federation of Nations
Flag of the United Federation of Nations.
In order to combat Britannia successfully, Lelouch proposed a federation of all nations. Initially called the United States Alliance, during formal Ratification it was known as United Federation of Nations, consisting of United States of Japan, the Chinese Federation, exiled governments from the Areas, and fragments of Europia United. In total, 47 nations joined the UFN by R2 Episode 16. Its capital is based on Penglai Island.
According to analysis by the Britannian Media, the United Federation of Nations wields power that equals that of Britannia. When a country joins the UFN, the signatory agrees to resign their military power. In their stead, the Order of the Black Knights, which is not affiliated to any country, will agree to defend them in exchange for continued power and support for the United Federation of Nations. If an action were to be taken by the Black Knights, all members must agree to it.
United States of Japan
The United States of Japan is declared by Zero near the end of the first season. The country rebels against the Britannian Empire following the failed attempt at establishing the Special Administrative Zone of Japan, but is defeated when Lelouch abandons the Black Knights in search of Nunnally. [11] Upon their escape to the Chinese Federation Consulate in the second season, Zero once again declares its formation, this time as a room in the consulate. [9] While Britannia considers it to be non-existent, other countries, the Chinese Federation among them, do recognize it.
After the exile of the Black Knights, the Japanese are granted control of the artificial island of Penglai in Chinese territory, which has recently become their temporary capital. [12]
History of the World
Main article: World History The fictional history of the Code Geass universe differs significantly from real-world history, primarily in the outcomes of various famous battles. The American Revolution is said to have been crushed at the Siege of Yorktown, thus allowing the development of the Holy Empire of Britannia instead of the United States of America. Also, the Napoleonic wars ended with the victory of Napoleon, who conquered all of Europe. Other differences also include the appearance of materials like Sakuradite and immortals like C.C. Another main difference would be the calendar the world goes by. Britannia uses a calendar based on the ascension of the first Celtic super-king known as Ascension Throne Britannia or a.t.b. This event occurred in 1 A.D. making the a.t.b calendar same years as our own; So the events in Code Geass while taking place in 2017 and 2018 a.t.b, are paralleling ours at 2017 and 2018 A.D.
Geass
Geass (ギアス|giasu) is a mysterious ability which certain people can bestow upon others; C.C. is the most prominent character who grants the power of Geass. The form the Geass takes is different in each individual. C.C. calls Geass the Power of the King (王の力|Ō no Chikara) while Lelouch calls it a form of wish. It is represented by a glowing, bird-shaped symbol.
Technology
Knightmare Frames
Knightmare Frames(ナイトメアフレーム), officially designated as the Humanoid Autonomous Armored Knight, are giant mechanized vehicles designed by the Britannian Empire. Using self-propelled roller skate systems called ‘Landspinners’ to achieve high mobility and speeds on almost any terrain, they have all but replaced other ground-based combat vehicles. They are equipped with sophisticated ‘Factsphere’ open sensor cameras to gather visual data. They are powered by a Yggdrasil Drive and later models incorporate sakuradite. Verbally, the name sounds like nightmare, but in spelling, it refers to a knight’s mare. Typical Knightmare Frame armament includes hand-held rifles, shoulder or wrist-mounted wired rocket anchors called Slash Harkens, Stun Tonfas, lances, and air burst hand grenades. The cockpit, set in the protruding «hump back», is equipped with rocket engines and parachutes so that the pilot can eject to safety in case of emergency. Recent seventh generation Knightmare frames do not follow these standards and are equipped with experimental technologies.
Vehicles
Aside from Knightmare frames, other vehicles are used for tactical and strategical purposes, such as serving as Knightmare Frame carriers. High efficiency electric vehicles are the standard, typically powered by a sakuradite energy filler. Pre-modern vehicles have been known to attain 50 horsepower, and go roughly 100 Kilometers per hour at maximum. Combustion of fossil fuels as a power source for vehicles may never had became commonplace in the world of Code Geass, though it is unknown if the principle is used. Automobiles
Automatic Small Arms
Unlike real-world firearms, those found in the world of Code Geass do not use gunpowder as an ammunition propellant, eliminating the need for brass casings; instead they operate by using a strong electromagnetic pulse generated by sakuradite to fire bullets. Such weapons are used by the Britannian Military, The Black Knights, and the Chinese Federation.

Background
Prior to the start of the main events, the Eleventh Prince of Britannia, Lelouch vi Britannia and his sister, Princess Nunnally vi Britannia lived with their strict father, Emperor Charles zi Britannia, and their mother in the capital city of the Holy Britannian Empire, Pendragon. When Lelouch was ten, and Nunnally was six, their mother was mysteriously and brutally shot to death. Ultimately, Nunnally was caught in the crossfire and could no longer walk, and was blinded from trauma of seeing her mother murdered. Lelouch became angry that his father did nothing to solve the murder and renounced his anointment to the throne, and he and his sister were thereof placed in the care of the Kururugi Shrine, in Japan. In this time, Suzaku Kururugi became friends with Lelouch, but they were separated from each other because of the Second Pacific War, which, with Britannia’s introduction of fighting machines called Knightmare frames into battle, ended Japan’s existence in 2010 in the given calendar. The conquered nation’s name became «Area 11» as a mocking gesture to the month long defeat of the nation. Later they were taken in by the Ashford Academy, run by the Ashford Foundation of which their mother was a test pilot for. They were given a maid, Sayoko Shinozaki, to assist with the care of Nunnally, and they lived in hiding for years, using the false last name Lamperouge.
First Season
Lelouch is a high school student with a knack for chess and an I.Q. that well exceeds being a genius, along with a hatred for all things higher in rank or social class than him. He is generally caring, yet lazy, but has a dark desire to destroy anything and everything that pollutes the world with lies and anarchy, ultimately wanting global dominance and peace proceeding. He is accidentally trapped along with some terrorists and then confronted by the Britannian military as being involved, what which point a girl with green hair blocks a coming bullet to prevent Lelouch from taking it. She’s declared dead, but moves after the shock, bleeding from the head, and grabs Lelouch’s hand, offering him a contract that will allow him to live. She collapses and Lelouch opens his eyes to reveal a bird shaped, pink and crimson iris that releases an ability of absolute obedience. He announces his real name in a command and orders the guards to commit suicide which they do with glee.
Stealing a Knightmare frame from Viletta Nu, Lelouch uses his keen intellect to lead the terrorists in their fight, but it ends in a draw when Suzaku appears in the Lancelot, a new Knightmare frame designed by Lloyd Asplund, and easily defeats the terrorists. Lelouch escapes from Suzaku and confronts Prince Clovis, who he forces to order his forces to retreat. He uses his power to question Clovis about his mother’s death, to which Clovis tells him that their half-siblings Cornelia and Schneizel might know the truth. Lelouch, determining that Clovis doesn’t know anything more, kills Clovis and returns to Ashford.
Lelouch becomes «Zero,» the masked leader of the Order of the Black Knights, a group of freedom fighters aiming to protect the weak from the strong while also liberating Japan. He is aided by C.C., the green haired girl who gave him his ability (called Geass) and who is revealed to be immortal. Following many battles, Lelouch learns that Suzaku is the Lancelot’s pilot, and lures him into a trap on Shikine Island. However, the tables are turned on Lelouch when Schneizel decides to bomb the Lancelot while Suzaku keeps Zero hostage in the cockpit, which would result in both of their deaths. Desperately, Lelouch uses his Geass and orders Suzaku to «live.» Lelouch, Suzaku, Kallen Kozuki (the pilot of the Black Knight’s Guren Mk. II Knightmare frame), and Princess Euphemia li Britannia wake up shortly afterward on a different island. From there, Suzaku discovers Kallen’s identity and Euphemia discovers Zero’s, but both choose to keep it a secret. Lelouch and Kallen finally escape the island in the Gawain.
After a series of victories, Euphemia creates the Special Administrative Zone of Japan, an area where Elevens are given full rights and are allowed to call themselves Japanese. Lelouch agrees to support the Special Zone, but when talking privately with Euphemia, his Geass becomes permanently active, and he accidentally orders Euphemia to kill all the Japanese, resulting in her ordering a massacre. With no way to reverse the command, Lelouch is forced to kill Euphemia and uses her supposed treachery to gain the support of all the Japanese.
Lelouch begins his full-scale rebellion by attacking the Tokyo settlement, using the very foundation of the settlement to his advantage. After securing a base of operations at Ashford Academy and ensuring the safety of his classmates and Nunnally, Lelouch confronts Cornelia and defeats her in battle, revealing his identity to her. He begins to interrogate her on his mother’s death, but is interrupted when C.C. informs him that Nunnally has been kidnapped. Learning that she was taken to Kamine Island, Lelouch leaves the battlefield to save his sister, leaving the Black Knights leaderless, while at the same time, Nina Einstein, devastated by Euphemia’s death, prepares to detonate a bomb on the Ashford campus that would destroy all of Tokyo. Lelouch and C.C. are attacked by Jeremiah Gottwald in the Siegfried, with C.C. eventually committing dual suicide with Jeremiah by driving both their Knightmares into the water. Lelouch continues on foot, but is stopped by Suzaku, who reveals that he knows about Geass. He knocks off Zero’s mask and reveals him to be Lelouch to himself and Kallen. Lelouch and Suzaku fire their weapons at each other and the season ends.
Second Season
The second season logo as it appeared on the first opening.
The second season occurs one year after the defeat of the Black Knights in the Battle of Tokyo. Lelouch is shown attending Ashford Academy, but he has no memories of being a prince or Zero, and has a little brother, Rolo Lamperouge, taking the place of Nunnally. The remaining members of the Black Knights launch an operation to restore Lelouch’s memories by attacking Babel Tower while Lelouch is in the building. C.C. is able to return his memories, and Lelouch resumes his role as Zero. He destroys the tower, and uses the destruction to kill Viceroy Calares and secure an escape route to the Chinese Federation consulate. Using his Geass on one of the Chinese High Eunuchs, Zero makes his return and declares the creation of the United States of Japan within a single room of the consulate. He then continues his rebellion from the previous year, culminating in the destruction of Tokyo by the brand new devastating F.L.E.I.J.A. missile.
When Lelouch’s identity is revealed to the Black Knights, they view his efforts as being ungenuine, and attempt to eliminate him; Before this can happen, he is saved by Rolo, who sacrifices his life using his defective Geass to escape. Having his resolve restored, Lelouch then faces his father, and finds out that his mother had survived and supported his father; Knowing this he uses his Geass to command the collective consciousness of the World of C to prevent his father from «stopping the hands of time.» A month later he appears in the capital of the Holy Britannian Empire, Pendragon and declares himself the next emperor. Lelouch teams up with Suzaku in order to complete the «Zero Requiem.»
While his father’s plan would have had wanted to live in the «past,» his brother Schneizel is revealed to have his own plan for world peace, through fear, effectively living continually in the present, never moving forward. In order to complete the Zero Requiem, Lelouch takes command of Schneizel’s ultimate weapon, the Damocles, effectively eliminating all adversaries, and focusing the hate of the world on himself. Afterwards, in order to complete the Zero Requiem, Suzaku, while disguised as Zero, assassinates Lelouch, thus dispelling the hatred of the world.
Production
Code Geass began as a concept developed at Sunrise by Ichirō Ōkouchi and Gorō Taniguchi, who proposed it to producer Yoshitaka Kawaguchi while they were working on Overman King Gainer and later Planetes. The initial concept of the plot consisted of a secret organization led by a «hero,» which was later developed into a conflict between two people with differing values of morality, belonging to the same military unit.
During these early planning stages, Kawaguchi contacted the noted manga artist group Clamp, the first time Clamp had ever been requested to design the characters of an anime series. Clamp signed onto the project early during these development stages and provided numerous ideas, which helped develop the series’ setting and characters.
While developing the character designs for Lelouch Lamperouge, the protagonist of the series, Clamp had initially conceived of his hair color as being white. Ageha Ohkawa, head writer at Clamp, said she had visualized him as being a character to which «everyone» could relate to as being «cool», literally, a «beauty». During these planning stages, Clamp and the Sunrise staff had discussed a number of possible inspirations for the characters, including KinKi Kids and Tackey & Tsubasa. They had wanted to create a «hit show,» a series which would appeal to «everyone.» Lelouch’s alter ego, Zero, was one of the earliest developed characters, with Ōkouchi having wanted a mask to be included as a part of the series, feeling it was necessary for it to be a Sunrise show, and Clamp wanting a unique design never prior seen in any Sunrise series (said mask was nicknamed «tulip» for its distinctive design).
Clamp’s finalized original character design art, illustrated by its lead artist Mokona, was subsequently converted into animation character designs for the series by Sunrise’s character designer Takahiro Kimura, who had previously spent «every day» analyzing Clamp’s art and style from their artbooks and manga series. In working on the animation character designs, he focused on designing them so as to enable the series’ other animators to apply them without deviating from Clamp’s original art style.
The music for the series was composed by Kōtarō Nakagawa and Hitomi Kuroishi, who had earlier worked with the series’ core staff in Planetes and Taniguchi’s earlier work Gun X Sword. In addition to the incidental music featured in each episode, Kuroishi also composed numerous insert songs for the series, including «Stories», «Masquerade», «Alone», and «Innocent Days», which were each performed by Kuroishi herself, while «Picaresque» and «Callin'» were performed by the singer-songwriter Mikio Sakai, who had also earlier worked with Nakagawa and Kuroishi in Planetes. The bands FLOW, Ali Project, Jinn, SunSet Swish, Access, and Orange Range have provided songs for the opening and ending themes.
When the series was being developed for broadcast on Mainichi Broadcasting System, it had been given the network’s Saturday evening prime time slot, which was later changed to a Thursday late night time slot. Due to this change, the overall outlook and some elements of the series were changed and further developed to suit the more mature, late night audience.
Reception
When the first episode was shown during a special test screening, which was attended by Ōkawa, other members of the series’ staff, as well as several journalists and other media-related personnel in response to the hype surrounding the series’ upcoming release, the audience fell into immediate silence after it ended, followed by «tremendous applause.» By August 2008, over 900,000 Code Geass discs have been sold in Japan. Reportedly, Bandai Visual shipped over one million DVD and Blu-ray Discs related to the Code Geass franchise by November 2008, placing it among the most popular contemporary anime series in both Japan and North America. During 2008, the first volume from R2 was the fourth bestselling anime DVD and Blu-ray Disc in Japan according to Amazon.com.
Special magazine for «Code Geass 10th Anniversary»
Since its premiere, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion has collected numerous awards and accolades. At the sixth annual Tokyo Anime Awards held at the 2007 Tokyo International Anime Fair, Code Geass won the best TV anime series award. The second season also got the award of «Best Screenplay» in the 2009 Tokyo Anime Fair. In noted Japanese anime magazine Animage’s 29th Annual Anime Grand Prix, Code Geass won the most popular series award, with Lelouch Lamperouge also being chosen as the most popular male character and «Colors» being chosen as the most popular song. In the 30th Annual Anime Grand Prix, Lelouch won first place again and C.C. was voted most popular female character. At the first Seiyū Awards held in 2007, Jun Fukuyama won the award for best actor in a leading role for his performance as Lelouch Lamperouge in the series, while Ami Koshimizu won the award for best actress in a supporting role for her performance as Kallen Stadtfeld.
Furthermore, Code Geass won the award for Best TV Animation at the twelfth Animation Kobe event, held annually in Kobe, Hyōgo Prefecture, with R2 taking the award in the following year. In the 2009, Seiun Award, Code Geass R2 was a nominee in the category «Best Media Award».
Anime News Network’s columnist Todd Ciolek attributes the soaring popularity of Code Geass to «the series hitting every important fan sector,» with the audience appeal points ranging from a «complex cast of characters and a fast-paced story, told with Goro Taniguchi’s capable direction» for «general-interest fans» to «pretty and just-a-little-broken heroes» for «yaoi-buying female fans.» Carl Kimlinger also finds that the series «has the skill and energy to carry viewers over the top with it, where they can spend a pleasurable few hours reveling in its melodramatic charms.» He also adds that Taniguchi «executes the excesses of his series with care, skillfully intercutting events as Lelouch’s plans come together (or fall apart) and using kinetic mecha combat».
Columnist Carlo Santos of Anime News Network wrote that the franchise «in a way, [. ] reflects the malaise of a generation: the realization that old, rich, powerful people have screwed up the world and that the young are helpless to do anything about it». According to him, Lelouch’s actions exemplify the wish to see problems like «economic collapse, class conflict, political instability, radical extremism» solved by «Zero’s vigilante methods» but Santos expresses doubt in such an approach and concludes that «the series is at its best when raising questions rather than offering a final solution».
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (Game)
Code Geass Lelouch of the Rebellion for the DS platform
The game’s battle system.
‘Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion’ (コードギアス 反逆のルルーシュ, Kōdo Giasu: Hangyaku no Rurūshu) is the first Code Geass video game based on the anime and manga series of the same name. It was released on October 25, 2007 for the Nintendo DS and published by Namco Bandai Games. The story is loosely based on the story of the anime/manga series, but with many decisions left in the player’s hands along with alternate stories which can be accessed through New Game+. The player, as in Lost Colors, acts as a new member of the Black Knights, Lelouch vi Britannia’s rebel faction.
Unlike the other games in the series, Hangyaku no Lelouch plays as a traditional RPG. The player must choose from options like attack, skill, and item to defeat their enemy. The battles in the game are always fought with Knightmares, with different frames representing different characters, though the enemies usually vary (an assault copter is fought in the first battle). Additionally, different characters can be called by using the DS’s microphone feature.
Character birthday event has featured. This game has R1 settings at time, the character’s details have officially settled in R2 before. Therefore, Schneizel and Tohdoh have different birthday from official.
Castor rui Britannia and twin brother Pollux rui Britannia are introduced as Britannian princes in one unlocked game scenario. They serve as the antagonists of the alternate storyline, allowing Britannians and Britannian knights such as Cornelia, Euphemia, and Jeremiah to be recruited.

Read more »

Code Geass Wiki:Canon Policy
Code Geass Canon: consists of materials that are thought to be genuine (or «official») and those events, characters, settings, etc., that are considered to have inarguable existence within the fictional universe established by the anime series Code Geass.
Canocity can only be Sanctioned by Ichirō Ōkouchi specifically stating that the material in question is canon.
The Code Geass Universe is expanded through other additional materials such as novels, promos and video games which do not necessarily take place in exactly the same fictional continuity as the Code Geass anime.
Contents
Canon
In fiction, canon is the conceptual material accepted as «official» in a fictional universe’s fan base. It is often contrasted with, or used as the basis for, works of fan fiction, which are not considered canonical. It is used in two slightly different meanings:
1.) «it refers to the overall set of storylines, premises, settings, and characters offered by the source media text».
In other words all the information presented from source material of the anime and databooks are considered canon as they are the source material.
2.) it is used «as a descriptor of specific incidents, relationships that take place within the overall canon»; thus certain incidents or relationships may be described as being canon or not.
In other words the relationships, and incidents presented in the anime are considered canon.
Canon listing
Anime
Anime is considered canon in so far that it is a T.V. media depiction of the storylines that take place in the anime. When the content is based on filler (In media, filler is material that is combined with material of greater relevance or quality to «fill out» a certain volume), the content has less credibility, as while it is based on concepts and characters that are canon, the storyline itself is not the original author’s creation and bares no connection to the established timeline featured in the «Source» material. (Unless otherwise indicated).
Expanded Universe
The term Expanded Universe (sometimes called an Extended Universe) is generally used to denote the ‘extension’ of a media franchise (i.e. a television show, series of feature films, etc.) with other media (generally comics and original novels). This typically simply involves new adventures for existing characters already developed within the franchise; however in some case entirely new characters and complex mythology are developed.
Although there are some exceptions, Expanded Universe works are generally not accepted as canon, or part of the ‘official’ storyline. They are generally seen as ‘apocrypha’.
Apocrypha
This includes those fictional stories that do not belong within a fictional universe’s canon, yet still have some authority relating to that fictional universe.
Often these materials might contradict the continuity that has already been established by ‘canon’. Even when no such contradictions occur, such materials may still be deemed apocrypha possibly because they might have been produced largely independently of the creator of the fictional universe.
Video Games
Video Games are not considered to be canon.
Novels
Novel’s that are not written by the author of the series are not considered to be canon.

Official Language
The content of this wiki is expressed in English. This is an English language wiki and all edits are expected to be carried out in English (with exception to the Japanese, Spanish and German content required via technique, powers or skill names determined by the content of the series). This includes articles, forum posts, blogs and talk pages. If a users second language is English and they are not apprised of correct grammar and sentence structure we can only ask that you have someone help you with the content you wish to provide here as editing will be extremely difficult if you can not properly understand or converse with others in the community. Such edits would likely end up undone as they cannot be understood. There are various Code Geass Wikis which are done in other languages that may be more toward what non-native English speakers are looking for (German, Spanish, Russian, Polish, Japanese and Vietnamese).
Trivia
The Trivia section is for actual relevant proven facts related to the article. Fan speculation and “what ifs/maybe” as well Junk Trivia type of information is not to be included in this section.
Talk Pages
The talk page is for conversations on maintenance and article correctness only. General conversations, questions and speculations are to be only placed in forums (see Forum).
Quotes
The quotes section is for relevant quotes that showcase the character’s personality or personal feelings. Not for random words that anyone could have said in the same situation. Also while there is cussing in Code Geass, it is only necessary to use it in the quotes section in use with relevant quotes. Adding non-relevant quotes with random cuss words and or just putting down random cuss words that may have been said is not acceptable.
Translations
When dealing with the translation of terms on the site we deal in translation of only certain terms. Only Items and techniques are commonly listed in the native language that the series provides. While predominately Japanese some do exist in Spanish and German respectively. As far as character names and titles the western structure as well as the English translation is all that should be used. Organizations can be either or with the most common and familiar usage being the accepted version.

Moving Existing Pages
When renaming page X to Z, we need to track down all the links to X and change them to Z as well, in addition to all incidences of X being used in the articles which are not links. Due to this, and often questionable romanizations of character names, article pages may not be moved without discussing it on the relevant article’s Talk Page first. Before a page move can be initiated, you must present the reasons for your belief behind the move on the article and obtain approval for it before moving the page. If you move an article page without discussing it first, your move will be undone and you will be warned not to do it again. The G-1 Base (G-1ベース, Ji-Wan Beesu) is a Britannian landcruiser commonly employed by the known members of the Imperial Family as a mobile command center and a field hospital. Since these mobile bases are almost always carrying someone important, they are always surrounded by motorcades of police, medical vehicles, and escorted by the regular military in the form of tanks, armored vehicles, and Knightmares
Britannian shuttle
Lelouch’s Personal Shuttle
The royal family uses a shuttle for personal transportation. Lelouch had a personal shuttle of this kind, and it served him throughout his reign as Emperor. Schneizel also had one of these shuttles on board the Damocles on which he attempted to escape. There are many shuttle types that Brittania utilizes to transport their officers and royals.
Knightmare VTOL
Knightmare VTOL’s in action
The Knightmare VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) are craft used by the Britannian Military to transport individual Knightmare Frames into battle. These vehicles are very numerous and seem to be controlled from the knightmare it is carrying, rather than having an on-board pilot or crew. These vehicles are used mostly for tactical purposes; whereas the larger aerial battleships like the Caerleon-class and Logres-class are optimized for strategic purposes.
VTOL Gunship
Britannian VTOL gunship
Generally dubbed VTOLs, these aircraft are designed for close support of Britannian ground units. They appear regularly in the anime and manga. Each is armed with a ventral cannon as standard, along with at least two hard-points on the wings, which generally carry rocket pods.
United Federations of Nations models
Longdan
Longdan (竜胆/龍蛋, Rindou, lit. Gentiana or Dragon Egg) is pyramid-shaped land-cruising mobile fortress controlled by the Chinese Federation, capable of deploying dozens of Gun-Ru Knightmares. It has two large cannons and thirteen normal cannons. Certain models are equipped with tank treads for land mobility, while others have hover systems to levitate across bodies of water.
Da Longdan
Da Longdan along with several Longdans and several Akatsukis.
Da Longdan (大龍蛋) is a mobile fortress belonging to the Chinese Federation and its successor the United States of China. It has a similar design as the Longdan though of a much larger scale. It is also noteworthy for its large bow cannon, which is perhaps the largest conventional gunnery weapon in Code Geass.
Black Knights’ Submarine
The Black Knights Submarine
Prior to giving the Black Knights the Ikaruga, Kyoto provided them with a high-speed submarine, which is simply known as «Black Knights’ Submarine» (黒の騎士団潜水艦, Kuro no Kishi-Dan Sensuikan) which served as the Black Knights’ base during their time in Area 11. It has torpedo launchers and cruise missile launchers, as well as cargo storage for Knightmares. It also has two Slash Harken-like anchors.

Featured Knightmare
The AVF-00 Voulge is a Black Knight prototype seventh generation knightmare frame and the personal knightmare of Feite Avalon during the events of R1 Lost Colors.
The frame is significantly larger than most Knightmare Frames of its class. The size of the frame is nearly twice that of the Z-01 Lancelot, but due to technological marvels it stands to be a step in the right direction for future Knightmare Frame production. The armor was traditionally white with gray highlights prior to it being rolled out for use with the Black Knights.

Code Geass: Renya of Darkness
Code Geass: Renya of Darkness (コードギアス 漆黒の連夜, Kōdo Giasu: Shikkoku no Renya) is a side-story of the Code Geass series. Appearing in Japan to find a new partner to form a covenant, her attempt to bestow her power on Renya goes awry and becomes a curse instead.

Nomination Procedure
Members of this Wiki can nominate themselves for a seat on the Committee. In the end it is the Admins who decide whether or not to allow someone on the Committee. However, the Admins allow the committee members to vote and voice their opinions on a nominee. Whether the nominee is approved or not, the Admins vote either way.
Reasons for Disapproval
Reasons for Approval
Removal from the Committee
A procedure for removing a Committee member has been written. Below this has been written and explained in detail. When a member has been removed for whatever reason, another member will fill his slot.
Removal of Seated Member
Conditions under which an involuntary removal would be considered, members can always resign.
Removal of the Captain
Only thing different here is that the period of in-activity is three months, instead of six. Basically, the Captain is suppose to keep the thing running. If the Captain is not here. the absence should be more notable then the absence of a Seated Officer. So, three months of inactivity and the Captain gets dropped down to a Seated Officer. Three months more of inactivity and the person gets dropped from the Committee entirely.
As for how to remove, all members have to agree on the removal of the Captain AND, this is very important, agree that the Vice-Captain should take over as the new Captain. If the Vice-Captain doesn’t want to, then another Committee member has to be picked and the Vice-Captain should be dropped to a seated position. Then the Admins are to be contacted to ask for the removal of the Captain and the seating of the new Captain. The Admins will of course have the final say.
Code geass wiki
A physical representation of the gods.
The Gods is one of the many and most common used terms for C’s World, a collection of human consciousness living and dead and supposedly where people go after death, throughout the Code Geass Universe. The world is visually represented many ways at different points, though all are consistent. Common images are children with the Geass symbol on their foreheads, two round planet-like objects with round runes being connected by light, white masks with red circular runes with one eye, feathers, a broken pendulum clock, a cloud of skulls or faces that appear to be in agony, aimlessly wandering black humanoid figures, and a planet-like orb that looks similar to Jupiter. As a setting, it is shown as a blank white space, an area of endless sky and rippling reflective solid but water-like ground, as a platform underneath the Jupiter-like sphere (or a black and grey sun-like structure when corrupted). Due to their belief that humans are by nature unequal and this cannot be fixed any other way, Charles zi Britannia, Marianne vi Britannia, C.C. and V.V. formed a contract with each other to activate the Ragnarök Connection via the Sword of Akasha to destroy the Gods. In Code Geass Akito The Exiled, the Dimensional Supervisor viewed certain humans as threats as they demand Gene Smilas kill Shin Hyuga Shaing for his «corrupt Geass». They also believe that the Geass is a power that most if not all humans are undeserving of and was willing to let humanity go extinct.
Originally, references to the Gods were considered some sort of metaphor or vague religious allusion. However it is later revealed that there is a sort of God that is C’s World as a collective of every human’s consciousness.
Charles intended to use the Sword of Akasha to trigger Ragnarök, that would destroy the Gods and once destroyed, every human that has ever existed, living or dead, will be united and exist as one mind, thereby creating what Charles deemed as true equality, as he saw ordinary human equality as impossible. Lelouch, realizing that such a world would be stagnant and without a future, rejects this plan in favor of accepting reality. He then uses his fully-evolved Geass to give the Gods the request to deactivate and destroy Ragnarök, therefore causing the Gods to turn against his parents and dissolve them into nothing.
Despite this turn of events, it appears that the World of C can still influence and be influenced. As the World of C can be entered via the afterlife, all humans will inevitably go there when they die, as C.C. noted when killing Mao. Following his death, Lelouch was able to influence the World of C in order to say goodbye to Suzaku, Rivalz, Nunnally, Nina, and Kallen and will them various messages.
In Code Geass Lelouch of the Re;surrection, the access to C’s World is cut off after the failure of the Ragnarök Connection, initially assumed to be because of Lelouch’s request, but subsequently realized to be because of Charles’ lingering emotions and will creating a barrier. His influence seems to have only reached the entries he tampered with in life, as the untouched Aramu Gates in the Kingdom of Zilkhstan were able to be used as an entry point. However, Shamna attempted to access and manipulate C’s World through the use of Nunnally as a makeshift gate and pseudo-Code since she is a proper candidate as a conduit due to her connection to Lelouch and Charles who both have strong connections to C’s World. This connection apparently makes her close enough to use as a second Code, which Shamna needs as two Codes are much better at manipulating C’s World than one, especially one as corrupted as Shamna’s.
Code Geass: Nightmare of Nunnally
‘Code Geass: Nightmare of Nunnally’ (コードギアスナイトメアオブナナリー Kōdo Giasu: Naitomea Obu Nanarī) is a manga spinoff of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion that is set in a different universe.
Though some of the basic plot points remain the same, the storyline revolves around Nunnally, Alice and Nemo instead of Lelouch, Suzaku and C.C.. One of the key differences is that people can be born as «Wired», meaning that they have a latent Geass ability without forming a contract, though they can still gain an additional Geass ability through a contract. Lelouch’s Geass is also different in this spin-off as instead of absolute obedience he has the power of invulnerability, gained through a suit of black armor that resembles a more heavily padded version of his wardrobe as Zero in the original series.

Nunnally Lamperouge is a blind and wheelchair-bound girl who was once Nunnally vi Britannia, a princess of the Holy Empire of Britannia, until she was exiled to Japan with her older brother Lelouch. Years later, when Japan is conquered and renamed Area 11, Lelouch is caught in a terrorist attack by Japanese rebels in the Shinjuku ghetto, where encounters a girl named C.C. and disappears with her before an explosion destroys the area.
Worried about her brother, Nunnally attempts to investigate the Shinjuku as the governor of Area 11, Clovis la Britannia, orders all the ghettos to be destroyed to hide C.C.’s existence. As Nunnally gives into her rage and despair that Britannia has taken everyone she loves and left her helpless in the world, a strange doll with a Geass symbol on it emerges. The doll, named Nemo, offers Nunnally the power to make Britannia pay for taking everything away from her, but in exchange, Nunnally must fulfill Nemo’s wish. When Nunnally accepts the contract, Nemo fuses with her, causing a humanoid Knightmare Frame to appear in a flash of light, and grants Nunnally’s revived body the ability to «read the lines of the future».
As per their contract, Nemo tells Nunnally that from now on she will protect Nunnally as her knight. From there on, Nunnally and Nemo work together to discover Lelouch’s whereabouts while fighting various enemies such as the Britannian Special Honorary Foreign Legion «Irregulars», honorary Britannians with Geass powers; and the Order of the Black Knights, led by the mysterious masked man Zero.
Characters
Main Characters
Nunnally Lamperouge
Nunnally Lamperouge is the main protagonist of this manga, and younger sister of Lelouch vi Britannia and Rolo vi Britannia. A former princess of Britannia, she enters into a Geass contract with the entity known as Nemo, and obtains a Geass ability that allows her to read the futures of people. She also gains the power to summon a highly advanced Knightmare Frame, using both of these she hopes to find her missing brother.
Better known as Magical Device Nemo, Nemo is an entity that gave Nunnally Lamperouge her Geass power, under the terms that she would be Nunnally’s knight. Nemo first appears as a mushroom-like doll that was with C.C. in the capsule at the Shinjuku Ghetto. After fusing with Nunnally, Nemo takes on the appearance of an albino Nunnally and is invisible to everyone except for Nunnally. She calls herself Nunnally’s reserved anger, the side of Nunnally that is never outwardly shown. When Nunnally activates her Geass, Nemo possesses her body, allowing her the use of her eyes and legs, and piloting the Mark Nemo. Combined with her future-reading Geass, she is now able to easily defeat other Knightmares, but Nunnally’s pacifist conscience prevents her from killing all her opponents. Nemo was in fact created from C.C., a fact which she despises and seeks to become whole, not just a clone of C.C.
Alice
Alice is Nunnally’s best friend at Ashford Academy. While she may seem like an average girl with some attitude, Alice is in fact a member of the Irregulars, sent to spy on Milly Ashford, and she has a Geass called «The Speed». Nunnally reminds Alice of her crippled sister, which leads her to care about Nunnally deeply, especially when the latter calls her her best friend. Alice discovers from the Ashford’s secret files that Nunnally is a former Britannian princess, but decides to delete the file for Nunnally’s protection. After an incident with Mao, Alice is determined to capture either Zero, the Mark Nemo and its pilot, or both in order to earn a title of knighthood, in which she can be Nunnally’s knight, so she can keep her safe. Alice and Nunnally’s relationship is the same of that as Suzaku and Lelouch’s, where the two are close friends, but also secretly enemies.
Order of the Black Knights
A masked man who leads the Black Knights against Britannia. In reality, he is Lelouch whose black suit is created from a Geass that grants him immunity. His Geass also allows him to take control Knightmare Frames, and his cape can function as wings for mobility and as a weapon, when in use a Geass symbol appears in his left eye. Lelouch received his Geass from C.C. just as the two were about to be caught in the explosion of the ghettos, which explains how he survived. He takes a more active role in leading his group as now he has brains and brawn, but still maintains Nunnally’s safety in mind, albeit being more serious with her. He revealed his identity to Nunnally at Saitama and told her not to get involved, saying he would destroy Britannia for her, and also revealed himself to Suzaku at Narita saying he had powers and asked him to help destroy Britannia.
Irregulars
The antagonists of the manga are the Britannian Special Honorary Foreign Legion «Irregulars» (特殊名誉外人部隊イレギュラーズ, Tokushu Meiyo Gaijinbutai Iregyurāzu?), an elite covert operations unit consisting of non-Britannians who have been granted capabilities far exceeding the human norm by way of ethically questionable medical augmentation. Some members have obtained Geass abilities as a result of cell matter transplants from C.C. The Irregulars unit insignia resembles the bird-like sigil of the Geass, and in combat they pilot the experimental seventh generation series Knightmare Frames called the GX 01 Alpha, which are equipped with a Geass Conduit (ギアス伝導, Giasu Dendō?) system that allows them to channel their abilities into their Knightmares.
Dalque
Dalque (ダルク, Daruku) is a dark-skinned girl who serves as point man for the Irregulars. She possesses a Geass ability known as «The Power,» which augments her physical strength by exaggerating the magnitude of macroscopic forces. When her ability is active, a Geass sigil appears upon her forehead. Her Knightmare Frame cockpit is installed with synchronization receptors that allow expression of this ability as a highly effective frame strength enhancer.
Lucretia
Lucretia (ルクレティア, Rukuretia) is a pale-haired girl who is a member of the Irregulars. She possesses a Geass ability known as «The Land,» which accurately maps three-dimensional terrain within a given range. The results of her perceptions are instantly submitted to her Knightmare Frame via a cockpit neuro-imaging device and collated with GPS data before being distributed to her team for tactical purposes. When her ability is active, a Geass sigil appears upon her forehead. She is typically partnered with Sancia, whose tracking Geass ability complements her own. Of the three, she is the calmest of them all and regards her team as siblings as she had lost all her relatives in the war.
Madd (マッド, Maddo) is an unpleasant male cyborg who serves as the Commander of the Irregulars.
Sancia
Sancia (サンチア, Sanchia) is a dark-haired woman who serves as a field captain for the Irregulars. She possesses a Geass ability known as «The Order,» which accurately identifies the positions of targets within a given range and precisely calculates their probable movement trajectories based on all known variables. The results of her calculations are instantly submitted to her Knighmare Frame via a cockpit neuro-imaging device and collated with radar information before being distributed to her team for tactical purposes. When her ability is active, a Geass sigil appears upon her forehead. She is typically partnered with Lucretia, whose terrain-mapping Geass ability complements her own. She is older than her subordinates.
Holy Empire of Britannia
Suzaku Kururugi
Rolo vi Britannia
Lelouch’s twin brother that looks like Lelouch himself. Rolo had been taken from Marianne when he was a baby, due to the superstition of twin princes bringing misfortune. Therefore, his existence is unknown to Lelouch and Nunnally. He is involved with the Geass Order and known as The Cardinal. He pilots his very own customized Vincent Knightmare Frame and his piloting skills are somewhat ruthless and cold. He first appeared in chapter 10 with Schneizel, who is heading to Area 11, and later meets Suzaku, who can tell that he’s not Lelouch. Like Nunnally and Lelouch, Rolo has access to Geass powers, and is able to summon his own personal Vincent Knightmare Frame. His Geass, «The Ice», possesses the same ability as the original Rolo’s (to halt one’s experience of time) and as the name implies, encases its victims in a layer of ice. He plans to kill Nunnally and Lelouch so that he can take their powers to become the true Demon King and overthrow the Emperor.
In reality, he is not Lelouch’s twin at all, but rather a clone created from the DNA of Charles and Marianne, and then brainwashed into believing he was the twin brother of Lelouch.
Chapter Summaries
Chapter 1: The White Witch and the Black Demon Awaken
After Lelouch disappears amidst the destruction of the Shinjuku ghetto, Nunnally attempts to find him, but instead she finds an entity called Nemo who gives her the Geass ability. Summoning a Knightmare, she defeats the Britannian military, but spares Clovis after realizing that it is not what Lelouch would have wanted. Elsewhere, Madd, a cybernetic man, observes the battle and transfers the information on to a dark-haired woman, Sancia, who tells him that the maneuvers performed are impossible for a standard Knightmare frame, and that the presence she felt from its pilot was not human. Madd asks if it was C.C. or Nemo, as both of them depend on their host, but Sancia does not know, only replying that the pilot was a Geass user.
Madd, excited from the news, orders all members of their group to report to Area 11 once they are done with their mission in Area 5. Curious about a Knightmare that runs on the heresy of something called the Eden’s Vital, he asks another member in the shadows, «Wouldn’t it be an adequate opponent for the Irregulars?». The member, wearing a uniform with a Geass symbol, does not reply.
At a government complex, Clovis is told to sign a report for the Shinjuku incident, but he refuses out of embarrassment. A shadowy figure appears, stating, «If the Emperor finds out about the Shinjuku massacre, the C.C. project being exposed, and the defeat of 18 Knightmare Frames, you might be disowned.» A shocked Clovis tries to call for help, but the figure has shut down the electronic system. The figure tells Clovis that he will suffer the same fate as the residents of Shinjuku. Terrified, Clovis attempts to gun the man down, but the bullets have no effect. The man then pulls out a gun and reveals himself as Zero, the one who will destroy Britannia.
Chapter 2 and Chapter 3: Nemo and the Irregulars
Cornelia li Britannia and her knight Andreas Darlton are surprised by the events taking place in Area 11. Cornelia asks the status to which Darlton replies that Clovis’s body has been taken in for an autopsy and that the crime seen has not been touched as she requested. Cornelia satires at the blood writing on the wall and asks what it means, her other knight Gilbert G.P. Guilford translates it into «to smite evil in heavens name». Cornelia orders for all information regarding Clovis’s death to be withheld from the public, she deduces by the words on the wall, and what the security cameras caught on tape that Britannia is being challenged, she also orders the mysterious masked man to be brought to her. At Ashford, Milly Ashford informs Nunnally that there is still no word from Lelouch, and that it will be almost impossible to obtain a search warrant to find him. She tells Nunnally that she has told the student body that he has enrolled in an exchange program and has returned home, but reassures her that they will find Lelouch. Nunnally thanks her for all that Milly and the Ashford family has done for them, once alone she is told by Nemo that «their» brother is not dead, but that she is also unsure if he is alive. A confused Nunnally asks what she means, who she is, why even though she is blind why she can see her, and why she looks like her. Nemo responds that it is because of the contract, she reminds Nunnally that she wanted power, so for that she gave her a Knightmare Frame and a Geass that allows her to read the future, but in return she took something from Nunnally. When asked what, Nemo says that she took the darkness in Nunnally’s heart, emotions born from that darkness such as anger, sadness, and vengeance she used to evolve from a mud doll to a higher state of being. Nunnally begins to ask more, but Sayoko Shinozaki, her maid, enters and asks who she is talking to. She leaves Nunally breakfast and leaves, Nemo then explains that she was created from the cells of a witch and that only Nunnally can see her. She reveals herself as Magical Device Nemo and says she is the other Nunnally and following their brother’s wishes she has become Nunnally’s protector, she finishes up by telling Nunnally to eat or they will be late for school. As she leaves three other students begin to bully her, but Nunnally just ignores them, causing the leader to knock her out of her wheelchair. Nemo prepares to interfere but out of nowhere another student appears in the blink of an eye, she tells them that they are just bullies and shows that she has stolen their skirts. They run off and she helps Nunnally up and she is revealed to be Alice, Nunnally’s friend, Nunnally thanks her and Alice takes her to class. Elsewhere the Japanese resistance meets with their ally from the Shinjuku Ghetto, who turns out to be Zero, and explains that they have the same goal, the annihilation of Britannia. Alice and Nunnally chat about how Alice has stood up for Nunnally ever since the first day they met, Alice explains that she has a younger sister that is also in a wheel chair so Nunnally reminds her of her. Alice apologizes if Nunnally does not like it when she feels bad for her, but Nunnally corrects her saying the reason she comes to school is because of her best friend, Alice. Alice assures her that her brother will come back soon from his studies and since her best friend is here, she should cheer up. Nunnally thanks her, they return home and Nunnally invites her in, but Alice says she has something to take care of, so they say goodbye and Alice recalls what Nunnally said about her being her best friend. In Area 5 a sub Britannia military group is being wiped out by three Knightmares bearing the Geass symbol. Two of the pilots themselves use unusual Geass powers called «the Odd» and «the Land» to locate the remainder of the Britannia group, the third one finish them off using a Geass called «the Power» to lift a building and flatten them. With that done, the leader, Sancia, announces that it’s time for their next mission. Another member, Lucretia, asks where their next mission is, Sancia says it is in Area 11, the third member, Dalque, asks whats the target, Sancia replies it is a Geass user.
Chapter 4, Chapter 5 and Chapter 6: Incident at Lake Kawaguchi
Deciding a trip would help lighten the atmosphere, Milly organizes a trip to Lake Kawaguchi for the entire student council. However they along with the other guests are soon taken hostage by the Japanese Liberation Front, and Nunnally is brought in for questioning by the leader, who recognizes her as the a princess of Britannia. When Japanese terrorists sees Nunnally friend Alice they shot her point-blank and she falls out of the tower, her rage causing her to summon the Mark Nemo and fight back. However, Alice survives the shot with the power of her Geass and races back to the hotel in her own Knightmare Frame to rescue Nunnally, only to find herself facing the Mark Nemo. She jumps to the conclusion that the Mark Nemo is an enemy and starts fighting it, but their fight is interrupted when Zero appears and reveals the Order of the Black Knights to the world. Alice manages to escape and regroups with the irregulars who came to help, revealing that is she is also a member. Piloting a unique human shaped Knightmare Frame exclusive to the Irregulars, the Alpha, she goes in alone to rescue Nunnally. Nemo summons the Mark Nemo, when the leader threatens Alice’s life, but before she can kill him, Nunnally, with encouragement from Lelouch in her mind, finally makes Nemo submit to her will, and they leave to save Alice. The two friends encounter one another, and not knowing it is them believe that the other has hurt the other, resulting in a duel. The pair are evenly matched; Alice’s Geass, The Speed, gives her blinding speed, which allows her dodge Nunally’s attacks and Nunnally is able to avoid being hit thanks to her future reading Geass. The fighting is brought to an end when the building collapses, but the hostages are saved, the ones who saved them are revealed to be Zero and his new Order of the Black Nights. Zero introduces them as heroes who protect those without power from those who have it, and declares war on Britannia.
Chapter 7: The White Knight
In the aftermath of the Lake Kawaguchi incident, Zero and the Black Knights begin getting much recognition. Kyoto questions whether Kaguya Sumeragi should give the Black Knights Burai Knightmare Frames as well as the Guren MK-II, but she reassures them that it is alright. Back at Ashford, Nunnally has a nightmare about Alice’s death, but Alice is able to calm her down. Madd meets with Lloyd Asplund, who finds the Alpha impressive. Madd is surprised to find Lloyd and his team in Area 11, but Lloyd says it should be obvious as Princess Euphemia li Britannia is there as well and her knight is their test pilot. He also requests information on the Mark Nemo, but Madd says all they know is that its an unknown Knightmare Frame, but tells Loyd they will send more data later. Content, Lloyd leaves, but not before telling Madd his team has also completed a seventh generation Knightmare with a muscle framing system and same features as the Alpha, angering Madd. At the government building, Euphemia’s knight, Suzaku Kururugi, gives his report to Princess Cornelia li Britannia, he also tries to talk about the scheduling for his meeting with Euphemia, but Cornelia remarks that she has a much worse schedule as she is the Governor. On the way out, Cecile Croomy acknowledges that she knew Cornelia would be cold towards him, Suzaku comments on how the only way he became Euphemia’s knight was because he had Schneizel’s approval, and that Cornelia more than likely hates the idea that an Eleven is her little sister’s protector. Cecile is still surprised that even though he is her knight that Cornelia would still deny him an audience with Euphemia, but Andreas Darlton appears and comments that Cornelia draws the line between Nobles and numbers, and that he too does not approve of Suzaku’s knighthood, and challenges him to a duel, to see if he deserves it. In the Ashford Academy basements, Alice discovers from the servers that Nunnally is a former princess of Britannia, and her mother the late Marianne vi Britannia.Knowing it’s her mission to report anything the Ashfords might be hiding, she instead decides to delete the file as Nunnally «Lamperouge» is her only friend. Suzaku, piloting the prototype moble suit Z-01 Lancelot, begins his duel against Darlton, who’s more than confident he will win. Lloyd, who’s finished greeting Clovis’s stand alone unit, also watches the duel. Darlton attacks but Suzaku easily outmaneuvers him, angering Darlton and asks why Suzaku hasn’t drawn his sword. Suzaku answers that there is only arrogance and greed in Darlton’s weapon, the two things that do not recognize him, an eleven, as a knight, and that which insults him, for that reason Suzaku does not see it as a duel between knights and that is why he will not draw his sword. Darlton accuse him of wimping out, but Suzaku retorts that since he is Euphemia’s knight, he will fight to uphold her honor, but still refuses to draw his weapon against Darlton’s tainted one. An enraged Darlton lunges at him, ready to kill, however the duel is stopped by none other than Euphemia, reprimanding the two for their actions.
Chapter 8, Chapter 9 and Chapter 10: The Disaster at Saitama
Alice discovers Nunnally’s true identity as a Britannian princess, but declines revealing her identity to her superiors, believing that her friendship with Nunnally is more important. Suzaku also makes an appearance as he joins the Britannian military and is chosen to be Princess Euphemia’s knight. Suzaku decides to pay Nunnally a visit, but the Princess decides to stay outside, saying she doesn’t want her to get dragged back into Britannian politics. Afterwards, the Empire tries to spring a trap at Saitama in order to wipe out the Black Knights. Nemo coaxes Nunnally into joining the battle, saying that the alternative is to watch as hundreds of people die. As the Japanese resistance forces suffer many casualties, Zero springs a counterattack, taking on a few Knightmare Frames by himself and disabling them with some strange handheld device while the Black Knights provide support. As Nemo joins in the battle, the Irregulars spring a trap of their own, using a Gefjun Disturber to paralyze the Mark Nemo. The Irregulars prepare to snipe the cockpit of the downed Mark Nemo so that they can collect the DNA of the dead pilot, while Cornelia comes face to face with Zero and prepares to take her own life before giving Zero the satisfaction of victory. However, Suzaku appears in the new Lancelot model, saving Cornelia from Zero while the Mark Nemo breaks free of her own constraints and manages to block the sniper shot.
Eventually, the Black Knights inflict enough damage that the Britannian forces are forced to withdraw from the area. Alice is angry because she wanted to finish off the Mark Nemo once and for all, but doesn’t get the chance. After the battle, C.C. reveals that she was wearing the suit of Zero the whole time, and confronts Nemo alone as Nunnally lies unconscious from the day’s events. Nemo claims that she was actually derived from an aspect of C.C., yet has her own agenda now that she has been feeding off the anger and strong emotions of Nunnally. She claims she wants to be free from «this mud puppet» and will do whatever it takes to get her own identity, while C.C. chides her. Near the end of the story, after Prince Schniezel has a talk with Princess Cornelia, he exchanges words with another young man who appears to be Lelouch vi Britannia.
Chapter 11, Chapter 12 and Chapter 13: Prison of Happiness
Both the Black Knights and The Irregulars have word of some drug called «Refrain» that is spreading around the Japanese population, a drug that traps people within their past memories and continuously loops them until they suffer permanent brain damage. The Irregulars believe that it could be connected to Mao, «The Refrain,» a Geass-user who deserted the unit some time ago. Back at school, Nunnally has a chat with Nemo, who tells her that C.C. is actually a copy of Joan of Arc (or perhaps even the original) who survived the Hundred Years War because she is an immortal witch. That same witch apparently entered a contract with Lelouch, who asked her to protect Nunnally. While Nunnally mulls over this, Mao appears behind her, and unwraps bandages on her own right arm. She reveals that the Geass is slowly eating away at her body, even though injecting herself with C.C. cells helps temporarily she will die without help. Apparently, Mao’s Geass allows her to read minds. Just as the Mark Nemo is about to appear to fight her, Mao opens up her left eye and plans to trap Nunnally in a «Prison of Happiness.» While under this effect, Nunnally recalls a childhood experience of her first meeting with Suzaku and time spent in the Kururugi household, and how C.C. was involved directly or indirectly with all of them.. While she is reliving her memory, Suzaku is simultaneously telling Euphemia the same story.
Mao tries to absorb Nemo’s power, but the entity somehow turns into Lelouch, and then C.C. herself, and rejects Mao. Finally, Alice shows up with a gun and a briefcase containing C.C. cells. Mao pleads with her for the drug, but Alice’s speed is too much for Mao to handle. Then, in an act of cruelty, Alice simply shoots the drugs with her gun and watches Mao crumble into dust. As Mao slowly withers away, she tells Alice that this will be the fate of all Irregulars. Alice retrieves the unconcious Nunnally and vows to protect her.
Meanwhile, a hooded figure reports Mao’s death to the character resembling Lelouch vi Britannia.
Chapter 14, Chapter 15 and Chapter 16: The Battle at Narita
When Suzaku meets Alice during his second visit to Nunnally, he offers a friendly handshake to her; but when the two hands come into contact, Alice gets a strange feeling and retreats, puzzling both Suzaku and Nunnally. Alice later remarks that the feeling is the same as when she came into contact with Zero back at Saitama, leaving her to wonder what Suzaku is. After Suzaku leaves, Nemo reveals to Nunnally that, through reading Suzaku’s future lines, learns that the next Britannian operations will take place at Narita, the Japan Liberation Front’s headquarters.
At Narita, the Japan Liberation Front is easily annihilated by the Britannian Army, despite putting up a good fight. However, it is soon revealed that the operation is an ambush set up by the Black Knights, who immediately cause an avalanche that wipes out most of the Britannian forces, isolating Cornelia who is confronted by Zero again. As Cornelia prepares to let herself be killed rather than captured, Suzaku, piloting the Lancelot, arrives and rescues her on behalf of Euphemia. After Cornelia reluctantly retreats, Suzaku engages Zero in combat. Zero tells Suzaku that he(Suzaku) is a Wired and shows him what his powers meant by showing him the history of C.C. In the flashback, Suzaku first witnesses C.C. fighting Jeanne D’Arc (who is portrayed as evil in this version), the Witch of Orleans during the Hundred Years War and afterwards betrayed by the country she served by being burned at the Stake on false charges of witchcraft. However, C.C. survived due to being cursed by Jeanne prior to the latter’s execution, which allows her to live on for eternity. Having been betrayed by the world she previously held dear, C.C. renounces her humanity and becomes the new Witch, determined to become the Demon King. The flashback then changes to a scene where Marianne, prior to her assassination, entrusts the lives of her children, Lelouch and Nunnally, to C.C., hence the reason why C.C. killed Genbu Kururugi, as he tried to kill the two children in an act of desperation to end the War on Japan. Finally, Suzaku witnesses Lelouch’s encounter with C.C. at the Ghetto, in which Lelouch accepts a contract with her, gaining the powers to become a Demon King.
When the flashback ends, Zero takes off his mask, revealing himself as Lelouch! Lelouch explains to a surprised Suzaku that his (Suzaku) being a Wired possesses the power to become a Demon King and offers Suzaku a chance to join him so they can create the “kind and gentle” world that Nunnally wished for. However, Suzaku furiously claims that the Lelouch in front of him is an illusion created by the Witch and attacks him, easily defeating him. As Suzaku prepares to arrest the defeated Zero, Mark Nemo arrives and engages Suzaku in battle, but they are soon interrupted by Alice piloting her Knightmare Frame, who is determined to defeat Zero and Mark Nemo in order to obtain a knighthood and protect Nunnally. Alice easily overpowers Mark Nemo, but the battle is soon interrupted by an unknown Knightmare Frame which fires energy particles towards the ground, scattering the combatants. As the smoke clears, Alice crawls out of her wrecked Knightmare Frame, revealing herself to Nunnally and Nemo. Nemo claims that Alice has revealed herself to be a traitor to them and urges Nunnally to kill her, but Nunnally refuses, and her refusal to give in to her anger results in her contract with Nemo being cancelled, causing Nemo to revert to her original doll form and the Mark Nemo to be dissolved, revealing an unconscious Nunnally to a shocked Alice.
Chapter 17, Chapter 18 and Chapter 19: The Genealogy of Witch
The story opens with a flashback depicting Nunnally and Alice’s first meeting and the start of their friendship. It then fast forwards to the present where Nunnally is revealed to have been captured and imprisoned by the Britannian Government. Alice, while trying to prove Nunnally’s innocence, learns that Nunnally has been handed over to the Heretical Trial Division of the Eden Vital Religious Order, where she will most likely be executed, despite her royalty status. As Alice confronts the Cardinal of the Eden Vital Order (who strongly resembles Lelouch), he easily knocks her out and places her under arrest. The Cardinal then visits Nunnally in her cell and reveals himself as Rolo vi Britannia, the unknown twin brother of Lelouch. Rolo explains that, being one of the ‘twin princes’ and considered a curse, he was forced to live an unknown existence until the ‘deaths’ of Lelouch and Nunnally at Japan allowed him to reclaim his royal status and his current position as Cardinal. He declares that his purpose is to deliver death on both Nunnally and Lelouch.
In the meantime, Suzaku learns of Rolo’s identity through a file obtained by Euphemia, and later encounters Lelouch, who reveals Nunnally as the pilot of the Mark Nemo and asks for his help to save her. Suzaku immediately passes the information to Euphemia, who contacts her sister to plead for her help to save Nunnally, their half-sister and the daughter of the late Marianne, whom they both held a deep respect to. However, Cornelia is reluctant to act due to the Cardinal’s authority surpassing her own, and Euphemia decides to take matters into her own hands: Interrupting the execution, Suzaku, following Euphemia’s orders, pilots the Lancelot to save Nunnally, but finds himself locked in combat with Anya Alstreim, Rolo’s knight. Lelouch, in his Zero disguise, uses the opportunity to retrieve Nunnally, but he also finds himself blocked by Rolo, who reveals his own Knightmare Frame and engages battle with him.
While the battle is happening, Nemo approaches Alice in her prison cell and explains to her Nunnally’s Geass and powers. She asks Alice to form a deal (not a contract) with her if they are to save Nunnally. Alice is initially hesitant out of fear for repeating the same mistake she made on failing to protect her little sister, but with convincing from Nemo, Alice finally agrees to the deal and gains new abilities as a result. She then breaks out of her cell and reaches the execution site just as Suzaku and Zero are being defeated by their Eden Vital opponents. Alice reveals her newly-gained abilities in the form of a new Knightmare Frame called “Code Geass.” Unleashing its powers, Alice causes a huge explosion of light that wipes out a large part of the government facility building (but not killing anyone). When the light has cleared, Alice, Nunnally, as well as Zero, have vanished. Angered at this, Rolo shouts out “CODE GEASS! KNIGHTMARE OF NUNNALLY!”
Chapter 20, Chapter 21 and Chapter 22: Demon King Rolo
Following the escape, Cornelia and Euphemia hold an emergency meeting with Rolo to question his role on the destruction of the government facility building. However, at the moment the clock stroke midnight, Rolo has the Governor Generals arrested, acting on an order from Emperor Charles in which the Governor Generals of all the areas are to be arrested on charges of treason and their positions replaced by the Cardinals of the Eden Vital Order. When Schneizel el Britannia, as Imperial Prime Minister, informs Charles that the Imperial Senate had moved to veto Charles’ order, the Emperor responds by dissolving the Senate and placing all its members, including Schneizel, under arrest. Charles then declares that the Holy Britannia Empire shall be re-organized into the “Holy Nation of Eden Vital.” Cornelia and Euphemia, along with all their subordinates (including Suzaku, Guilford, Lloyd and Cecile) are put into prison, but they are later broken out by the combined forces of the Black Knights and the House of Kyoto, with the latter’s leader, Princess Kaguya, offering a negotiation with them.
After bringing Nunnally to a secret hideout, Alice notices a geass reaction on Nunnally’s arm. Knowing that Nunnally would end up like Mao, Alice figures out one possible solution – Rolo. In the meantime, Rolo enlists the Irregulars to help him hunt down Alice, but as they near the hideout, the Irregulars reveal that they have lured Rolo into a trap, out of loyalty for their friend Alice. However, Rolo reveals his Wired Geass – The Ice, which freezes time, and overpowers the Irregulars. Alice arrives in time to prevent Rolo from destroying her friends and a battle commences between the two of them. Both Alice and Rolo are equally challenged with their geass powers, but Rolo soon reveals the captured Nunnally, whom he managed to obtain by using the Irregulars as a decoy. Believing that he has gained the upper hand, Rolo prepares to kill Nunnally, but Alice reveals the ultimate technique of her geass – The Code Geass Godspeed, and uses it to destroy Rolo’s Vincent Knightmare. After being beaten, Rolo notices a geass reaction on his arm and realizes the truth of his birth – An artificial clone created using Charles and Marianne’s DNA and injected with C.C. cells, and then brainwashed into believing he was the Demon King. Afterwards, Rolo crumbles into dust in Anya’s arms. Anya tells Alice that the answers to all her questions lie on Kaminejima and tosses her a locket before departing. Both Alice and Nunnally later discover that the locket contains a family photo of Nunnally with her family – her mother and brother.
Chapter 23, Chapter 24 and Chapter 25: Island of God
Meanwhile, Alice and Nunnally also arrive at Kaminejima on the Code Geass Knightmare Frame. They enter a mysterious dimension where Nunnally meets with her father as well as her mother, who is revealed to have been alive due to transferring her soul into Anya, the assassin originally sent to kill her by her political rivals, through her Geass, and has been posing as Anya since then. Charles and Marianne explain to their daughter of their early beginnings as idealistic youths who had dreams for a peaceful world, only to have them shattered when they were assassinated by political rivals. However, through their deaths, they were able to be reborn due to their newly-acquired Geass powers and use them to bring the whole world under their control. They also reveal that Nunnally’s ability to see the lines of the future was merely a side-effect of her true Geass: «The Zero.» Nunnally’s Geass allows her the ability to interact with C’s World to open Heaven’s Door in order for all people to become one, which her parents claim will bring true peace and happiness to the world. Nunnally approaches Heaven’s Door, but after hearing Alice explain on what she (Nunnally) means to her (Alice), she refuses to carry out her parents’ plan, stating that there is no future in the plan that her parents want, and that she chooses to accept herself, regaining her sight and mobility in the process. This causes Heaven’s Door to collapse, as well as Charles, Marianne and Mark Nemo to disappear forever, which they accept as their daughter’s choice. Charles’ defeat also causes the Knights of Round to disappear as well, bringing the battle to a victory for Britannia and the Black Knights.
As Alice and Nunnally emerge from C’s World, Alice tells Nunnally that she is willing to believe in the future of the world she chose, and Nunnally thanks Alice for it.
Chapter 26: Zero of the Demon King
Following the defeat of Charles the Absolute, Euphemia officially succeeds him as Empress of Britannia. Although she upheld her vow and liberated all the Areas, it turned out to be a completely difficult task, as the transferring of power had to be handled gradually, during which public order had to be handled by both the Britannian Forces and the former Rebel forces. However, skirmishes still occurred between them, and with the world having lost Charles as its enemy, once again focused their hatred towards Britannia, proving a new challenge for Euphemia. Thus, the world was thrown into chaos once more.
It was also announced that Zero had perished at the Battle of Kaminejima, however, on the day of Euphemia’s official crowning and the signing of the peace treaty with Japan, Lelouch appeared in front of Suzaku and Euphemia to bid them farewell as it is his last day as Lelouch. He then meets with Nunnally, who is now a goodwill ambassador of Japan, and discusses about their Geass. Lelouch explains that from Nunnally’s Geass, «The Zero», he had been freed from C.C.’s duties by death, as her soul had now returned to Eden Vital and he has been made as her successor like many others before her and all the Geass that she bestowed upon have now disappeared. When Lelouch asks Nunnally’s reason for not opening Heaven’s Door, Nunnally explains that when she came into contact with it, she saw countless alternate realities, one of which is the “Lelouch of the Rebellion” anime. Through this, Nunnally realizes that their world was just one of many universe possibilities, and that Eden Vital is only of the past, but as long as there’s a future for humanity, then the ideal for the peaceful world will definitely be achieved. Lelouch remains upset that she did not accept their parents’ plan, but acknowledges her dream for a peaceful world, to which he gave her a hug and bids farewell before saying that her brother will still love her. As Lelouch leaves, he asks his sister to help someone else who is also lost like him.
At Ashford Academy, which is now operating as a refugee camp, Alice and her now ex-Irregular friends are shown working there for a living following the loss of their Geass and the disbandment of their military unit. When Alice gets the rest of the day off after work, she goes to the rooftop where she meets with Nunnally. Alice explains that she left Nunnally shortly after their rescue because she realized that although she helped Nunnally make the right decision of not destroying the world, it was still, in Alice’s view, not a peaceful world for Nunnally, as it was one where all those dear to her – her mother, father and brother no longer existed, as well as Nunnally being a target of the world’s hatred due to her role as Britannia’s ambassador to Japan, and Alice feels that she had failed as Nunnally’s Knight because it would be a painful experience to Nunnally. However, Nunnally explains that no matter how painful the experience is, the world still has a future with hope. She then presents Alice a knight’s emblem, asking Alice to be beside her if she still believes in the future she chose. This time, Alice accepts.
At the series’ conclusion, Lelouch gives a monologue about Eden Vital and Geass, before emerging as C.C. the Demon King, and goes forth to spread Geass and to promote conflict around the world.
Differences from Lelouch of the Rebellion
Lelouch also receives a different Geass ability than in the anime. In this version, instead of gaining the power to make others obey his commands, he gains a suit of black armor with multiple capabilities, the foremost of which is immunity from attacks and the ability to hack into and take control of Knightmare Frames.
The manga follows some of the same basic events as the original story line, but in a different sequence. In the anime, the Lake Kawaguchi hostage crisis comes after the Saitama disaster, but in this version, Lake Kawaguchi happens soon after Nunnally meets Nemo and then the story goes into the confrontation with Mao.
While both Rolo and Mao appear in this manga, they appear as completely different characters from their anime counterparts. Mao appears as a young girl previously aligned with the Irregulars, while Rolo appears as Lelouch’s twin bother that looks alike, separated at birth, but still affiliated with the Geass Order.
Charles and Marriane are also more understanding, like when Marianne doesn’t protest against Nunnally’s decision to go against their plan, and Charles only rages for a bit, unlike his anime counterpart where he keeps yelling.

Purpose of the project
The purpose of the project is to add a detailed plot summary to every episode of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2. If you have any questions you can contact the unit leader J two (Talk).
How to participate
Below is a list of the remaining episodes that still need a plot summary added to them. If there is a particular episode you would like to write a summary for then just put your name by it in parenthesis. After that, simply watch the episode and write down a summary of what happens (the first few episodes are great examples of how it should be written and some guidelines are listed below as well). Code Geass Lost Colors for the PS2 system.
In Code Geass: Lost Colors the video game there are several different endings and clips of Lelouch that involves the main character Rai. In the first scene of the game, Lelouch, along with Milly, were the first people Rai meets when he enters the school before he went unconscious. After Rai woke up several days later, Lelouch immediately had doubts about him and was shocked that Milly made him a student, but was reluctant to accept him.
If the player decides to use Rai’s Geass on Suzaku to make him join the Black Knights, Lelouch becomes angry, having wanted Suzaku to join him of his own accord, and uses his Geass to put Rai into an eternal sleep, resulting in a game over.
If the player follows the Blue Moon route and make Nunnally and Rai fall in love, Lelouch will be reluctant to accept their relationship and will be with them during their first date, watching them closely as they go visit the Ashford Academy’s garden.
If the player chooses to pursue Lelouch as a best friend, ending scenes will vary depending on which route the player is on. For example, in the Geass route Lelouch and Rai both learn of each other’s past and identities though they ultimately cannot be together, Lelouch learns that Rai is all too much like himself and understands him because of it. The Black Knights route involves Zero asking Rai to join him permanently in his fight against Britannia. Rai refuses, interpreting the words as an order, upon which Zero finally reveals his true identity as Lelouch and asks the player to join him not as a pawn, but an equal and true partner.
In the Geass route ending scene, after Rai sealed himself within the Thought Elevator and uses his Geass to erase his existence, a scene shows Lelouch seeing a spark of light flowing through the sky from out the window in sadness. The next scene later shows the student council preparing for the school festival. When Lelouch talks about Milly’s performance, he suddenly speaks out to someone else. Milly questions who he was speaking to, which Lelouch doesn’t know but felt like he knew someone was missing.
