WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU DON’T WANT THE CUSTOM WEAPONS AND COMBINE SKINS?
Then you need to delete them which is very easy;
Change weapons back to original Hl2 ones, go to and delete the entire Weapons folder here;

Change all combine skins back to the original HL2 ones by going to Models folder here and delete all files that start with “combine_. ” in there name;

How fast time flies by. Almost to the day it has been exactly 1 year after
Episode 3: «The Closure» was released. So i thought that maybe today would be a great moment to talk about what happened after its release.

Let me start with the installation of the mod, many people have problems with that.

The main problem is that you need to install «Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer» and set it to: «upcoming beta mode». Without this the mod will crash right at starting up. It is very easy to do, just read the install intructions at the bottom of this page, or watch the install video that i linked to above.

How well was the mod receeved?

As soon as the mod was released the hard core HL2 community started to bash the mod. It was HL(2) unworthy, it should never have been named Ep3. It was by far the worst mod many people ever had seen. Now that i think of it, it is a real miracle that i haven’t receeved even one death treat, (honestly.) Many people had huge expectations because they had followed this mod over the years. I don’t think i could ever have even come near what they expected in the end. A few comments have stuck in to my mind, one said

for instance; «I played the full mod, and when it was finished i was so mad! Valve would never have made such a shit like this.» A lot of comments said something like; «The mod was ok, but because it is titled Ep3 it is really bad.» I have asked myself for quit some time, did i hype the mod to much, am i to blame for this? But then i do come to the conclusion that i really didn’t go overboard with releasing articles. Between some of them were months. I guess it has to do with the overall lenght of the development, which was 5

years. People had to wait 5 years. As always were there people who didn’t play it but jumped on the wagon of bashing this mod. Some even admitted that they didn’t play it. All is ok, that is internet these days. It is that i have experience with releasing mods, otherwise it really would have broken me, all this negativity. But through the years i have learned that i just need to wait and see what happens. Which brings us to today. A year later the mod still does very well. By now the hard core community knows about the mod, and

maybe even played it. So it seems it is now time for those who aren’t hard core so to say. And they see the mod for what it is. The overall number people give this mod is quit good, specially when you considder all those times people gave it a 1. On Moddb the people give it a 6.5 (out of 10), and on RTSL 3.84 (out of 5). I understand that this means ‘average’, but taking in all the very low numbers like the 1 it really isn’t that bad. Ofcourse may people think that this is a bad mod, but it doesn’t deserve a 1. Guess it is the same as always, it has all to do with a matter of taste. About the download amount. As i already said, the amount of

downloads is probably the most important tool for a developer to see how succesfull and or popular his work is. It is always hard to know exactly how much downloads you have, simply because i can’t track all mirror servers over the whole world. And i forgot to write down the number each time when i uploaded a new version. But all in all the mod is downloaded by now around 100.000 times. A huge number, even when my CtoA mod had around 350.000 downloads. To be honest was a very afraid that by now the HL(2) community would be so small after all these years that the download wouldn’t come above 30.000 or so. The sites i uploaded the mod to are ofcourse Moddb and then RTSL. But many people, specially in Asia and Russian sites have added mirror download servers to the list. And because i can’t read those sites its hard to follow what is going on there. It even seems someone in Russia is selling this mod, in box!

Making my profile complete on Moddb;

My first few years on Moddb i let a friend of mine upload my work, simply because it didn’t matter to me who did upload it, as long as people could play it. But only a year ago or so i realised that this did mean that not all my work did show up in my profile. I asked Moddb if they could change this for me, otherwise it ment that i had to upload it all again and that would mean all comments would be deleted, same as the download accounts. And ofcourse does every modder wants to know how much his work is downloaded. Although in these cases all these mappacks were already released years ago on other sites. This means you can now find all my mods in my mods section, and all my sp-mappacks in my Addons section here, (all my Cod1+2, Sof2; Quake2, Mohaa, Prey sp-maps / mappacks);

Please check them out if you are interested in them, some of them are good for many, many hours of gameplay fun!

A lot of people had and or have questions, to answer them ones and for all i will place at the bottum of this article a Q & A.

Q & A:

Why did you use Star Trek assets (and other game assets for that matter in this HL2 mod?

To be honest is the answer as short as it is silly, because i didn’t had any other assets to use. As some of you know is this my 5th HL2 mod and i really had seen, played and used already to many times the original Hl2 assets. I really needed new content for me to be able to work 5 years on this mod, i simply can’t stand the old weapons, zombies and combines anymore. I have asked on many sites many times for help. A few people said they would help but in the end hardly anyone did. There were a few mods that weren’t released and worked on anymore, so i asked those developers if i may use them. They all gave permission and some of them uploaded all there assets for anyone to use. And one of them was the Star Trek HL2 mod. I can imagine that it may sound strange for some, but i rather wanted to use Star Trek material which is completely out of place as to use HL2 assets again.

Why did you not follow the HL2 lore?

Again, quit a silly answer. It all comes down to how i play games i assume, and therefore make maps/mods. I love fpshooters like the first 2 COD games, the FEAR series, etc. To me a story is not that important. So i knew something about the HL2 story, but because it has been 7 years or so ago that i played it i had forgotten most about it it seems. Because after the mods release and reading all comments it is clear that i made quit a lot of mistakes for instance with the characters. All i wanted was to make a very large mod, with lots of action, and a story that linked it all together. At the same time i wanted to make some kind of follow up on the original ep2. So i don’t fully agree with those people that say that this mod has nothing in it that makes it a follow up on ep2, and therefore it deserves the ep3 title. Because you do find the Borealis in this mod and it does give a answer to how the whole HL sage ends. Ofcourse it is not what Valve would have made, thought that was such a silly remark many people made. I am a one man show, Valve has so much more to work with. And, probably most important, they will earn money on it. I don’t, which is fully ok. (Yes, i do think it is silly that Valve wants to try to sell mods again through steam, don’t they already make enough money as it is? To ask 40% of mods is just making money while other people do the work. But i get off topic here.) For me it was very important that what i had in mind i also could make, if it was logical or not, relealistic or not didn’t matter to me. To be able to work for 5 years almost daily on a mod i needed to have the option to do whatever i wanted with it, and that i did.

Why did you use cutscenes, and even showed Gordon in them?

Can’t tell you how many people asked me this question. Ofcourse am i aware that Valve doesn’t use cutscenes (beside at the start of ep2), but i love making them, and watching them myself. But, that is not the only reason why i made them. A lot of people said that the use of them did harm the immersion, and that did amaze me quit a bit. Because i always feel much more immersed in a game when i do see cutscenes. And even more when i see the player figure in it. I really don’t make this up, this is the thruth. So that is why i used them, and why i showed Gordon in them. Also is it much easier to tell a story this way because as developer you have to do a lot of extra work when you give the player freedom to move while the story is told. Although i have to admit that i did went a bit overboard with the amount of cutscenes.

The cutscenes were silly, why show Gordon walking from one door to another?

Also a many heart comment. And i have to agree here. Those are simply silly. Let me first explain why i did add them. As you know, when you played the mod, are there a lot of very large, detailed levels in this mod. And when i work on them i have to cut them up in parts. Because otherwise i hardly can see what is what in the editor while i make the maps. Also does it work quicker, very large detailed maps do make a computer slower while working on it. Even a powerfull computer as i have, (8 core 3.1 Ghz, 8 Ram, 64 bits). Ones everything is made in a map i place all parts again in the one level. So i had to make Gordon jump you could say from one part to another part in the map. And at that time i thought it would be best to use a cutscene for this, were Gordon walks through a small hallway. Should i now make that level again i would do it differently. When i played the level after nearly a year i too thought it felt strange.

What are you working on now?

Well, nothing really. Quit strange because the last 16 years i always was working on some mod or mappack, with different games. But it just takes to much time and effort, it really started to take crazy shapes the last 5 years. My complete life was modding, from the moring till the evening. And that had to stop. I don’t say i will never make another mod or map. But for now i am focussing on work and drawing, (looking in to making a Youtube cartoon channel of some sort, and drawing a cartoon book for adults.)

I want to thank all those people who have followed my work, and played it. It was a real pleasure to be some sort of a «famous person» in the modding world. Quit odd to realise something like that, really! Ofcourse could so much have been done so much better in my work, and ofcourse is it far from perfect. But, all i wanted to do was having fun making levels that i would like to play. And it was only a huge surprice to find out that so many people did like them to. Only the future will tell what will come next. Ofcourse, should HL3 see the light of day, at one moment, then i will be mapping again. And my dream is still making my own indie game, but also that is something for far in to the future.

В заключении хотелось бы сказать, что отсутствие картинки (причем даже на странице автора), говорит не об неуважении, тут всего на всего собирают моды отовсюду, и если автор не удосужился сделать скрин, за него делать его никто не будет, а так как любой уважающий себя симовод знает прогу S4Studio через которую всегда можно посмотреть как выглядит предмет и если необходимо внести небольшие коррективы для себя (по своему усмотрению), то я вообще не вижу в этом проблемы.

— Комбины прячут жуткий мега-телепорт на Бореалисе, Фримен отправляется чтобы изъять этот артефакт с судна.

ОБЩЕЕ ВПЕЧАТЛЕНИЕ:
— До уровня ощущений от добротной коммерческой игры не дотягивает, это просто очень качественная комьюнити-работа, выполненная профессионалами своего дела. О чем красноречиво свидетельствует их внушительный послужной список: Раз и Два ;
— Играя в этот фанатский «третий эпизод», всё же задним умом жалеешь, что так и не вышел оригинальный, от самой Valve; (подробнее см. «Атмосфера»)

ГОЛОВОЛОМКИ:
— Встречаются головоломки, но они обычно связаны с поиском комнаты и тумблера, открывающего проход дальше по уровню;
— Классических физических головоломок стиля второго Халфа («положи стиральную машину в корзину, чтобы получить плюшки») здесь, к сожалению, нет;
— Иногда головоломок нет там, где их хотелось бы видеть: типа в той большой серверной с кучей небольших передвигаемых металлических ящиков;
— В качестве пасхальных яиц я лично встретил два типа: фигурка рождественского гномика, и попадание в комнату с рисованными комиксами (видимо, авторства кого-либо из создателей игры);

ТЕКСТУРЫ И ДИЗАЙН:
— По дизайну уровни напоминают «повзрослевший» второй Квейк или очень навороченный мод под первую Халфу, и совсем мало напоминают собственно HL2;
— Справедливости ради, слегка похожи на Оригинал открытые локации и пещеры;
— Дизайн, особенно коридоров, упрощенный, «квадратненький», и по этому признаку мод больше напоминает первый Халф (чем второй). Однако в силу большой детализации помещений выглядит всё весьма прилично;
— Цветовое оформление довольно пестрое (многоцветное), используется много новых текстур;
— Зачем-то позаимствовано несколько текстур из Doom 3, это смотрится каким-то жлобским плагиатом на общем роскошном и самобытном фоне этого мода. Особенно не в тему логотипы UAC;
— Используется просто гигантское количество новых объектов обстановки, от самых простых до сложных техногенных объектов, движущихся, испускающих пар, искрящих, горящих, взрывающихся, интерактивных. Заменены кнопки и звуки дверей, вагонетки монорельсов. Вообще легче сказать, что там не заменено. Абсолютно новая игра, свежесть ощущений гарантирована;
— Есть отдельные вещи, которые трудно понять, как реализованы, например, переставная (в две разные позиции) комната, передвижная по сложной траектории. Естественно, такие вещи вызывают эпизодическое чувство восторга и удовольствия от прохождения;

ВРАГИ:
— новые комбины, визуально напоминающие зомби-пехотинцев из Doom 3;
— зомби-комбины;
— тяжелые штурмовики;
— хедкрабы всех известных мастей;
— обычные зомби. Встречаются редко.
— быстрый зомби;
— муравьиные львы, стражи муравьиных львов;
— вортигонты;
— охотники (хантеры);
— снайперы, засевшие в окнах (выносятся по-прежнему гранатами и из РПГ);
— турели из игры Portal;
— внешний вид сканнеров (летающих фотоаппаратов) также другой;
— вертолеты, БТР-ы и манхэки такие же, как в Оригинале;
— более детализированные страйдеры;
— автоматическая лазерная турель, которая сильно поразила меня в техническом плане. Такое редко увидишь в экшенах (в стратегиях, разве что);

ВИЗУАЛЬНЫЕ ЭФФЕКТЫ:
— Очень богатая работа, даже по современным меркам: расширенный набор шейдерных эффектов, пар и дым весьма реалистичны, вода больше не «бестелесная», а подсвечена голубым шейдером в глубину, линзовые блики камеры даже чересчур вычурны, огонь и лазеры такие же как в Оригинале;

ИГРАТЬ СТОИТ :
— Если вы фанат визуальной навороченности;
— Если вы были фанатом навороченных модов под ПЕРВЫЙ Халф;
— Если вы поклонник больше экшена и стрельбы, чем атмосферы;
— Огромное количество боёв с вертолетами, «стрекозами», охотниками в последней трети игры.
— Если вы хотите часто видеть Гордона со стороны во всевозможных кат-сценах ))) (впрочем, безмолвного, как и всегда);
— Для расширения культурного кругозора.

ИГРАТЬ НЕ СТОИТ :
— Если вы ищете атмосферу оригинального Half-Life 2 и эпизодов, ее здесь практически нет;
— Если вам НЕ нравится обилие ПОДЗЕМНЫХ локаций (в первой половине игры).

Моя оценка моду: (субъективность зашкаливает!)

Трансдименсиональная организация из дохрена самых разнообразных рас, которой рулит непонятно кто (в еп3 обещали прояснить, в еп1, еп2 показали часть иерархов НЕ связанных с ксеном) и непонятно что с ними будет (опять же в еп3/хл3 обещали прояснить) и непонятно с какой целью сунувшаяся на Землю (ну вы поняли).

И комбайны они именно за счёт такого «комбинированного» из разных рас состава войск.

Some people missed the ladder in level 8, which can be seen on the screen below at the right side;

This made that the player didn’t find the sniper rifle on the catwalk above the road, and also did he miss a trigger there which spawned 2 combines higher up. This caused that 2 floating guns could be seen lateron. To make this side path more clear i have added the ramp that can be seen above on the screen, (left of the ladder). Should the player still miss this ladder/ramp now then he can find near the end of level 8 a second sniper rifle, and also are those 2 combines triggered with another trigger higher up the mountain road;

All other changes have to do with that there were some troubles with the credit text on screen when the mod was played with a FOV of 90. And although most people don’t play on FOV 90 i still decided to fix those issues. They are to minor to name then all here, but i could show some of them through a screenshot. Just to show how minor these errors were;

In level 1 the Gordon player figures shoulder goes through the camera, (see screen above left corner down).

The top left corner of the screen above shows the rocks through the black credit screen.

For some odd reason the text didn’t show well on wide screens, as show above.

Gordons head was for a part of the second going through the camera, as can be seen in the screen above on the left top corner.

So, as you can see are most of the changes in this 2.0 version to small to name. I will also release a Patch Ep3 v.2.0 for those people who already did download and install the previous (v.1.0 or 1.1) version. For some people there seems to be a problem with Patch Ep3 v.1.1 or Mod version 1.1. Map 08 seems to cause a AI_disabled error messsage. So should you play any of the previous versions of the mod then please just install the small 2.0 Patch and make it override everything.

And for those who never played this mod and would like to give it a try, please use this version 2.0 Patch v.2.0 is then ofcourse not needed.

A warning, for those who dislike HL2 sp-mod which not follow exactly the HL universe, this is such a mod. Meaning, this mod makes use of cutscenes in which is shows Gordon. It has all original HL2 weapons and combine skins changed in to custom made ones.

Nearly 6 years ago after i finished my previous Hl2 Ep2 sp-mod Final Projecti stumbled on Roofville mappingcompetition of RTSL and i decided to joinwith 2 levels. The competition gave 1 month and i succeeded in completing them.But as soon as i did sent them in i knew i wanted to work some further with moremaps, and this mod was born. A lot of things have changed over the years, fromjust 2 linked together levels it all became a follow up on Episode 2. These 2 Rooftop Ville levels were after all taken out again of the mod, with the exception of a courdyard and a wooden building, which present about 20% or so of both levels.

So many people, as i myself, were waiting for Valve to come up with a new ep or even better a new game. Valve has released the news of never to release a ep3, and when HL3 would see the day of light was and still is not clear. So why not fill this cap, and make my own Ep3. But, in a way as i think would be fun, and, would be possible. Ofcourse can i never come up with Valve quality of MOCAP, coding, etc. Probably more important, also not how they would tell and show there story. I can only develop such a large project when i have absolute development freedom.

Only when it is fun for me, then i will be able to come up with a mod like this. That it isn’t consistent with the HL universe and takes the liberty to change characters in any way i see fit, is not a big thing for me. As you maybe know is the mod now out there for a couple of days and quit a lot of hard core HL fans have a huge problem with how i presented this as a Episode 3. I understand there feelings and i have underestemated the amount of greef that they would have. I should have explained right from the start much better what this mod is all about.

This is a fan made mod and is not meant to be taken as canon in any way, shape or form. And although it is loosely based off the Half-Life universe and going on were Episode 2 left off, it is not always consistent with the Half-Life lore.

LINUX:On RTSL «Asterixer» said he did get the mod after some work to run under linux:-rename all files to lowercase– delete or disable this line in gameinfo.txt: ( with // ) gamebin episodic/bin– copy all bin files from singleplayer 2013 bin to bin in the mod– copy server.dlib and server.so, client.dlib and server.so from hl2 ep2 bin to the bin folder of the mod. ( I haven’t tested this, nor am i familair with Linux. So i am not responsible for any problems that could cause this, sorry.)

That leaves me for now with thanking you for reading and hope you decide to give this one a try. And when you decide to play it, then please play it as just a fan made Ep3 mod and not a Valve made Ep3, because it will only frustrate and or disapoint you.

Well at last a reply!
I had given up. I found a site/link where I read a series of (in my opinion) generalized steps one must complete for game installation and to install something called (I think), it was a month back «source mod 2013», and also to add and or subtract items from some folders that I don’t remember the names of.

I do need help, if I were to proceed, I’m afraid I’d require in-depth step-by-step instructions so I install the correct item in the correct file/folder and not screw up my computer. If you have and play «Closure» and are willing to help I would appreciate it big time, if not that’s OK too, as I mentioned I had given up on it.

Half-Life 2: Episode Three — компьютерная игра в жанре шутера от первого лица. Серия игр Half-Life невероятно популярна. И это неудивительно: прекрасный сюжет, интересные герои, оригинальные технические решения, проработка мира. Здесь здорово все. Кроме одного. Фантазия разработчиков оказалась столь безграничной, что вторую часть пришлось разбить на три отдельных игры-эпизода. Не “помещалось” все задуманное в одну игру.

И все бы хорошо, что только Half-Life 2: Episode Three (Халф Лайф 2 Епизод 3), который должен был стать финалом истории, сильно «задержался». Его планировали выпустить в 2007 году, через полгода после второго эпизода. Однако релиз затягивался.

А ведь это завершение истории Гордона Фримена, развязка истории. Но ожидание того стоит. Разработчики компании Valve сделали все, чтобы не обмануть ожиданий своих поклонников.

Третий эпизод — самый большой в серии и самый напряженный. Действие разворачивается сразу после событий второго эпизода. Однако изначально главным героям помешали, убили отца Аликса, а вертолёт разбился где-то по пути в Арктику. Неизвестно, нашлись ли выжившие в крушении главные герои «Борей», однако по попадающимся в сети отрывком известно, что они неведомым образом оказались в пограничном мире Зен. Других подробностей о сюжете игры неизвестно.

Гейплей, согласно слухам, практически не отличается от предыдущих частей, однако некоторые разработчики недовольны уменьшением напряжённости атмосферы. Но пока не выйдет по крайней мере бета-версия игры, никто, кроме разработчиков, не может высказать своё мнение.

Достоинства и недостатки версии игры для компьютера

It’s been just over ten years since Half-Life 2: Episode Two released, and the sense that its cliffhanger ending will be resolved with the release Episode Three – or even a full-fledged Half-Life 3 – is close to zero. However, that hasn’t stopped enterprising mod teams from filling the previous decade with their own attempts at providing closure to the Half-Life 2 story with a plethora of Source mods that provide their own interpretations of what Episode Three could be.

Although those mod teams have been working away separately for years, the recent departure of Half-Life series writer Marc Laidlaw from Valve and his cheeky leak of the official Half-Life 2: Episode Three plot has prompted a resurgence of interest in the Half-Life story. A game jam themed around this leak, the Epistle 3 Game Jam, was recently held – resulting in over 30 new continuations of the Half-Life story; some comedic, some dramatic, and many in between.

Consider this a collection of all the available directions that the community has taken the Half-Life story. These efforts are spurred by a strange combination of Valve fostering a dedicated community of modders with strong tools and assets, as well as by Valve’s own lack of motivation to continue the series of games itself.

Half Life 2: Episode 3 may never come out. And now, with these mods and game jam entries, there is no one single version of the story’s continuation. The game will remain an abstract possibility, and if it continues to sprout creative works such as these, that might not be such a bad thing after all.

Half-Life 2: Aftermath

This mod pulls together content that was previously leaked in 2007. This includes multiple Valve-created levels that were used as testbeds for new gameplay ideas, new weapons, a few new enemies, and more. It’s not an entire story continuation, but it’s a glimpse at what Valve actually had in the works for Half-Life 2: Episode 3.

The last update was 8 July this summer and therefore it was time to release new screens and a movie again. It is not that i didn’t work on the mod in.

Сюжет
Half-Life 2: Episode Two, которая увидела свет осенью 2007 года, но перед ее выходом уже были заметны некоторые детали сюжета для следующего эпизода. Итак, события происходят после того, как была запущена спутниковая ракета в Белом лесу. Портал над Сити 17 был полностью закрыт. И наши персонажи собираются отправиться в экспедицию в Арктику. Там они хотят отыскать Джудит Моссман и ледокол с названием «Борей». Этот ледокол принадлежал раньше компании с названием «Aperture Science». Доктор Вэнс проводит в ангар наших героев, чтобы отправить их в столь небезопасное приключение. Ив тот же миг двое сторонников Альянса забегают в ангар и сразу убивают Вэнса. Попытка уехать за пределы Сити-17 на поезде провалилась. Теперь нам придётся выбираться из города, как и всем остальным жителям: пешком к железнодорожному вокзалу.

Обратите внимание, что на этом уровне очень просто получить несколько достижений. Одно из них — «Зомби-кью»: поджечь 15 зомби с помощью фаеров. Внимательно запоминайте расположение каждого попавшегося вам осветительного пакета. Постарайтесь собрать в одном месте побольше зомби, хватайте файер и тычьте им во врагов, чтобы поджечь их. Будьте внимательны: импровизированная свечка горит недолго, а её могут выбить из рук близко подобравшиеся мертвяки, придётся бегать и искать, теряя драгоценное время.

Итак, плавно продвигаемся вперёд по туннелю, давая Аликс отстреливать зомби. Можно также воспользоваться прыгучими минами, которые попадаются на пути: притягиваем их гравипушкой и швыряем во врагов. Ныряем в дверь в конце туннеля и сразу налево в темноту коридора, подсвечивая путь фонариком (кнопка F). В конце справа — решётка вентиляции, которую вынимаем гравипушкой. Заползаем в дырку и ползём вперёд. По пути прямо видим аптечку и осветительный пакет, до которых можно дотянуться гравипушкой. Первую съедаем, второй несём перед собой для освещения (и экономии батареек в фонарике).

Разворачиваемся, подходим к решётке, выстрелом из пистолета сбиваем замок с двери, проходим, слева на стене открываем электрощиток и включаем свет (а также дверь, отделяющую нас от Аликс).

Дверь напротив щитка перегорожена машиной, освобождаем проход ударом гравипушки.

Выходим в дверь. В темноте шляются несколько зомби, просто высвечиваем их фонариком и Аликс расправится с ними. Слева в темноте — батарейка и дробовик. Далее идём направо, по пути расправляемся с зомби. Обращаем внимание, что весь путь буквально усеян трупами муравьиных львов, не к добру это. За очередным поворотом видим и пару живых тварей — ну, Аликс в курсе что делать.

Проходим прямо и, уткнувшись в вагон очередного поезда, видим первого на нашем пути Зомбайна (зомбированного солдата Альянса), правда, дохлого. Спустя пару секунд объявит о себе ещё один за стеклом, но живой и с гранатой. Отходим подальше от стекла — бумс! Ни стекла, ни зомбайна. Проходим прямо до упора, собираем патроны, разворачиваемся и ныряем налево во тьму.

Здесь на нас выйдет сразу группа зомбайнов, причём они очень любят доставать гранаты и играть в шахидов. Гранаты удобно выхватывать из рук гравипушкой и подбрасывать назад противникам. Предоставим основную работу Аликс, а мы поможем ей разрывными бочками.

Поднимаемся по лестнице и в комнате сталкиваемся с тройкой ядовитых хэдкрабов (ненавижу тварей!) Валим сами или пускаем Аликс вперёд. В закутке слева — батарейка.

Подходим к вентилю на стене и слегка приподнимаем ворота слева (кнопкой E). Из-под створки поползут два ядовитых хэдкраба — придавливаем их воротами или пропускаем внутрь и предоставляем расправу Аликс. Теперь крутим вентиль, пока ворота не откроются полностью и бежим за них.

При приближении к ящикам с потолка спрыгнут два хэдкраба — убиваем. Забираем бонусы из ящиков и идём вперёд. Слева проход, но с потолка свисает куча барнаклов. Убиваем, оставляем на волю Аликс или же тихо ждём пока все зомби, привлечённые нашим появлением, будут бежать прямо на липкие языки подпотолочных тварей. Расчистив путь движемся дальше. Проходим прямо и налево и убиваем ещё тройку зомбайнов. Слева дверь, входим и ступаем вверх по лестнице.

Сразу бежим к бордовой машине слева и заваливаем ближайшую дыру. Теперь поднимаемся на второй этаж по наклонной балке в центре зала. Прямо по курсу — зелёный запорожец. Обходим слева, разбиваем ящик и выталкиваем гравипушкой машину на первый этаж. Заваливаем ещё одну яму и снова бежим наверх. Идём налево, ещё два раза налево и по аналогичной балке поднимаемся на третий уровень. Снова налево, по балкам переходим на другую сторону, прямо мимо вывернутой решётки и вниз к третьей машине. Убиваем зомбайна, подбираем аптечку и крутим вентиль до упора, чтобы открыть ворота. Скидываем машину на первый этаж и заваливаем последнюю дыру.

Теперь добиваем остатки чужеродных насекомых, собираем патроны и аптечки и снова поднимаемся на третий этаж. Слева от решётки, за которой был спуск к последней машине — вентиль. Крутим его до упора, подняв очередные ворота и проходим направо на лестницу.

Спускаемся вниз до двери (ниже есть один зомби и ящик с патронами) и заходим в затопленный подвал. Убиваем группу встающих зомбайнов и проходим чуть вперёд. Сзади открывается дверь, откуда выходят ещё трое. В закутке откуда они вышли находим кучу аптечек.

Проходим вперёд к темной двери и включив фонарик идём дальше к лифту. Аликс пытается вызвать лифт и тут свет гаснет совсем. Играли в Doom 3? Ну сейчас начнётся.

Повернувшись спиной к лифту идём прямо. Увидев левее закрытые на засов ворота, идём к ним. Сбиваем засов гравипушкой и открываем дверь. Там нас ждёт зомбайн, хэдкраб и электрощиток. Включаем питание на щитке и идём назад к лифту.

Half-Life 2: Episode Two mod | Released 2016

So, have you played the recently released Half-Life 2 : Episode 3?

Just kidding, it’s actually a mod, and the real name is «The Closure«.

The mod was created over the course of 6 years by SPY-maps, who is known for a lot of cool-looking HL2 mods (among others).

Now, while the mod itself was actually pretty enjoyable (some irks here and there, but i guess that is his «style»), there are a lot of things that are unfavorable to the experience and have deterred players from moving on the actually well made mod : Random custom weapons, orchestral movie/other games music, loud sound effects, inconsistent models.

Well, this Remod tries to do some changes to it.

Unlike my previous Remods, this particular Remod is going to be separated in addon packs in order to ease my uploading speed while giving people even more options.

You can find the original mod here, it is pretty much the ultimate requirement for most of the addons :

All of the downloads in this section are stackable, you do not need to download them in a certain order.

You still require the original «The Closure» mod first before these addons can work though.

First trek to Source territory

A mod that devided the many.
A Remod that devided the rest.

It’s been more than a decade now since we all saw Eli Vance die to a Combine Advisor, Alyx crying on his lifeless body as the screen goes black.

From what it looks like at the beginning, Valve seems to be working hard on finally doing HL2EP3, before they decided to mix it with HL3, which then proceeded to what is basically complete radio silence for years.

Turning the more-than-a-decade wait itself a bigger internet meme than «When It’s Done».

Some of us have lost hope, saying that it’ll probably be another DNF case IF it even got released, some was a bit more hopeful, waiting for the day when HL3 is finally confirmed.

Some of us went through the line. And made his own version of what EP3 is.

The Closure, created by one «SPY-maps» is what he wanted EP3 to be like (in a way), taking 6 years to finish by himself (at least, when it comes to mapping/project lead) with a pretty large 35 maps under this mod’s belt.

All seems perfect, with Valve ignoring any lines of communication, the fans have finally decided to do a «for the fans, by the fans» kind of deal.

That is until we realize that Leon has his own visions of what he wanted EP3 to be like.

The first thing noticed was the cutscenes, no matter what the situation is like, HL have never really taken away our point of view, when Valve wants us to see or do something, it’s all done behind the scenes with subtle hints/gestures, and even when we are locked, there is valid reason for it.

This mod tears that design choice apart.

And then the music, something about it was odd, like it was not Kelly Bailey’s.

Taken straight from movies or even other games like CoD or FEAR, YouTube players beware!

And then the story, the enemies, the level design, the design choices.

The biggest offender was the fact that the iconic crowbar was replaced with a wrench, as if trying to poke that new OP4-based game that seem to lack a wrench (that apparently will actually get one in an update, thankfully).

People were angry, they feel betrayed, and lied to.

Some didn’t get past the first map, others fall as their journey continue.

But then again, we can’t really blame Leon, since this is only what HE wanted EP3 to be similar to, and of course, all of us have different tastes and preferences when it comes to what pleases us.

He said that working on the Source engine for years have made him seriously tired of vanilla stuff, and mix things up just to make things not dull in his eyes.

Of course, there are still people who liked it, or at the very least appreciate the work done.

I wasn’t any of them.

I wanted to appreciate the work done, but at the same time, i am bitter with what the mod changed.

So i took a crowbar and tampered with it.

First was the music, i returned the original OST.

Then i replaced the weapons.

No more FEAR Combines, no more Metrocop headcrab-less zombies, no more white painted vorts/fast zombies, no more Portal turrets or the Mustafar headcrabs.

Gone are the UAC labels on the doors, or the out-of-place Black Mesa Combine chargers.

I never used the hints, and as a result, removed them.

Wasn’t a fan of the adult comics, and that is now swimming with the fishes.

And last, but not least, removing Gordon from the cutscenes so as to not «technically» ruin my «point of view» things (with some story blows, but nice enough for the purists).

With all of this done, the result of chaos was reduced, i don’t feel too bitter anymore, and can actually truly appreciate the work done.

The maps are well done (at least the later ones, earlier chapter really are pretty weak), and i can see the reasons for some of the «pointless» cutscenes (turns out to either be trigger points or hidden teleporters, as Leon didn’t really care for architecture).

(In a way, maybe Leon could have done something similar to «Alchemilla» or «Cry of Fear» and have opening teleport specific doors by using teleport once a sound and a fade is done ingame?)

The moving catwalks in the middle chapters are pretty awe to look at, the combat are varied, the final chapters are a bit atmospheric, and the change of environments between chapters are cool to break the monotony, the ending is pretty okay, and i appreciate the change of code to make the sniper actually hitscans.

And i liked it, for the most part anyway.

Maybe you will too with these addons, maybe not.

I still hope you enjoy it in some way though.

Played abit of it so far.
Still too early to give a solid opinion. In anycase, i was impressed by the amount of work you put into it already.

Though, i’m heart broken to see the rudeness that’s unfolding over on RTSL.

It seems alot of it comes from people expecting a Valve tier game. Which made me wonder, why is the mod called «Half-life 2: Episode 3» in the gameinfo?

Hi Josh,
well, when i started the mod 6 years ago it was called Rooftop Tetreat, as you maybe know. After a year or 2 i believe i changed it in to The Closure because this mod for now is the last big mod i am making. Will focus now first on indie game dev. Also is it following the story line of the original ep2 and will it close the HL saga. So, that is also a closure. But, 2 years ago or so i started to think why i should not call it Ep 3, because that is what it is (also is it my 3th huge mod with source, Final Project mod was a small one). So, why not call it as what it is, Ep3. That the mods Moddb page still is called The Closure is because all links to this site will not work anymore when i change it. Otherwise this mods page also would have been named EP3. And, i will be honest. Ofcourse do i think that the mod will get much more atention in the media when it is called EP3. So, those are the answers. Glad you are liking it so far. The further you get the better the mod gets, that is at least my opinion.

And i’m excited to play some more.

Though i’m still sad to see all those rude comments, i feel many people have been spoiled by mods like Underhell or Black Mesa.

What i really like about your mods, is that they take me back to when insane graphical, or engine overhauls, weren’t necessary to make a great mod.

I think the biggest art of your mod work so far, is just how much you manage to do, with stock Source assets.

I did notice that The Closure has some new code, that’s a first, right?

Yes, the mod has a custom code now. Didn’t want to use that indeed for a long time. But in the end there were some troubles with the sniper rifle that caused very wierd but big errors. Malortie the code had to write a code for that so it was fixed.
The error that was caused by the sniper was that when held in hand while a levelchange took place it caused the player to go in to god mode, which couldn’t be undone anymore. Also when the player is stripped from his weapons the sniper wouldn’t disapear and it made it impossible to pick up any health and or batteries. Strange he, but, its fixed. I don’t understand, why set Source SDK 2013 SP to beta? The latest version of the Source SDK 2013 should work with the latest HL2 mods.

Something tells me that this release would have re-written/edited the code with the latest version of the Source SDK 2013.

Yes indeed, your right. The mod runs now on a custom code. Didn’t want to use one because each time Valve releases a update mods with custom code ALWAYS have trouble then. But because the sniper rifle has a issue the mod needed to run on this new code.

When I run, after the Valve logo, it flashes the loading screen for a split second, then closes and displays this:
«Engine Error

Could not load library client. Try restarting. If that doesn’t work, verify the cache.»

I have SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer installed, with the Beta enabled. I have verified that, restarted Steam, to no avail. Is this a common problem? Any idea how this can be fixed?

Sorry to hear this Orang3dragon612. Your the first also with this error message. Did you run source 2013 SP after you did set it to beta. Malortie made a great install video and when you do exactly what he shows in there the mod really runs fine. So would you please go over ones more to the RTSL download site of the mod and check out that video, then all will play fine.

I have run all Half-Life 2 games, even though E3 does not require them, and run Source 2013 SP Beta. And yet, I get the same error. I ran your own Strider Mountain and Nightmare House 2 as a test, and both of those worked fine. The mod was installed correctly.

For some reason, it seems if I run SP Beta, then verify the steam files, it will say a file is missing, and will be reacquired. However, if I run the Beta again, and verify again, it will say the file is missing again.

If you have any clue on this, it would be appreciated. Such a long wait for E3, and it seems I’ll have to wait a little bit longer :3

So please install first Episode 2 and i am quit sure all will then work fine. Please let me know, if not then we need to look more in to this.

All Half Life games are currently installed, and they all have been launched at least once.

Out of curiosity, is E3 supposed to have a little Steam Icon?

To be honest, i wouldn’t know how to change that icon, would love to give the mod a own steam icon though.

Finished playing HL3: closure. 1june2017.
i played thru 7 maps. the first 6 and then i jumped to the end map and played that. overrall it was ok. 50/50. i liked some of the metallic emerald look of the antlions. the zombie combine cops were interesting. by the time the 6th map was completed, i really felt like the whole thing was cobbled together out of bits and pieces of other maps. other games. flet like it was dragging on.
really was disjointed, it didnt flow. it got confusing. one moment im in a dark underground cave, then i take an elevator to an office?? alot of elements were trying to be jammed into each map.
Tho it didnt follow » half life lore», there were no puzzles to solve. At all. which is Defintiely part of HL lore.
it went on and on for 35maps. probably coudlve told the same story with about half that amount.

Засекреченный Half-Life 2: Episode 3

На E3 компания Valve представила вторую часть популярного командного боевика Left 4 Dead 2. Многие фанаты оригинала остались недовольны. Во-первых, как выяснилось, они еще не наигрались в первую часть (и им кажется, что разработчики перестанут должным образом поддерживать ее и выпускать обновления), а, во-вторых, стилистика и персонажи продолжения им категорически не понравились. Но у них хотя бы есть какая-то информация и пища для размышлений. А вот фанатам Half-Life 2 куда труднее. Долгожданный «третий эпизод» нам так и не показали. И никакой новой информации не предоставили. Завершающая глава легендарного шутера так до сих пор и не вышла. И, судя по всему, в ближайшее время ждать ее не следует. А ведь с момента релиза Episode 2 прошло уже почти два года (игра была включена в состав The Orange Box, который, напоминаем, поступил на прилавки магазинов в октябре 2007-го года).

В чем дело? Почему Гейб Ньэлл (Gabe Newell) хранит гробовое молчание? Сам он говорит: «Каждый день мне приходят сотни, нет, тысячи, писем с одним и тем же вопросом – когда появится Episode 3? И, знаете что, у нас есть причины, по которым мы не раскрываем информацию об игре. Говорить об этом я не могу и не стану. Узнаете все сами. Но позднее». Видимо, в недрах Valve готовится что-то грандиозное. Может быть Episode 3 – это полноценная новая Half-Life 3?

Played abit of it so far.
Still too early to give a solid opinion. In anycase, i was impressed by the amount of work you put into it already.

Though, i’m heart broken to see the rudeness that’s unfolding over on RTSL.

It seems alot of it comes from people expecting a Valve tier game. Which made me wonder, why is the mod called «Half-life 2: Episode 3» in the gameinfo?

Half-Life 2, Episode 3 The Closure v. 2.0 news

Some people missed the ladder in level 8, which can be seen on the screen below at the right side;

In level 1 the Gordon player figures shoulder goes through the camera, (see screen above left corner down).

The top left corner of the screen above shows the rocks through the black credit screen.

For some odd reason the text didn’t show well on wide screens, as show above.

Gordons head was for a part of the second going through the camera, as can be seen in the screen above on the left top corner.

And for those who never played this mod and would like to give it a try, please use this version 2.0 Patch v.2.0 is then ofcourse not needed.

Why this mod is good:
1. Huge amount of content to play. BUT people reviewed it perfectly : quantity over quality. If you would focused more on beautiful level design instead of putting huge empty rooms it would be much more interesting to play.
2. Nice looking light effects and lens flares.
3. Some cool new models.

Now a long list of why this mod was bad:

1. Terrible sound design I mean TERRIBLE, completely out of place. Music sounds like you play some action movie or watch Jurrasic Park instead of Half Life, even cinematic mod had better song pieces. Music is good BUT NOT FOR HALF LIFE. I don’t want to even mention ear raping gunshots. DO NOT PLAY THIS MOD IN HEADPHONES, YOUR POOR EARS WILL BE SEVERELY RAPED. As of music it should have consist of a mix of techno and horror themes. That is what made Half Life so special. Either author have never played any Half Life game before or he had terrible sound designer.

2. As mentioned above because of this terrible music choice this mod lacks solid atmosphere.

Summary : I’m not a hater, I was really hyped for this mod. It was a good mod to play and I know how much time author spent to make all of this that’s why I rate this five. I won’t give higher rating because it’s called Half Life 2 Episode 3 which is a huge lie. It is a good mod but I have played EVERY Half Life game and I would never, ever call it a Half Life 2 Episode 3. Author could add more to the story and create better atmosphere, Black Mesa and Nightmare House 2 is the perfect example how to make good mods.

Leon should really learn from those mods.

My review for this mod is in the comment section, but I’ll quote it to be fair.

«I’ll give a very honest review on this mod. It is really disappointing and very out of place in the HL2 universe, even if it’s a mod. This is one of the worst mods I’ve seen in years. First off, the Player starts in a mineshaft, which doesn’t even make sense considering Eli has a damn helicopter. Why would they have a helicopter if they can’t drive it, huh? Next, the cutscenes are very unneeded and ugly. I shouldn’t have to see the objective more clearly. If I see a weapon or keycard, of course I’m going to pick it up, why do I need to see it even more. It’s blatantly an unneeded addition. The weapon models are very out of place too. I mean, the AR2 is an HK G36! so you’re telling me, the Combine switched an earth weapon between Episode 2 and this. You should really take in account that the Combine have their OWN technology. Even if they use earth weapons like Grenades, SMGs and Shotguns, it makes no sense. To added insult, the new SMG viewmodel has Gordon’s arm in the wrong position, they’re backwards. Next are the Combine models, which make no sense. The soldiers turned into HECU soldiers and the other units turned into a SWAT team. The new models even use the original sounds, which sounds really out of place on a HECU soldier. Next is the laziness. Some of the models you just took from Gamebanana. The SWAT Combine and Metrocop Zombi are from Gamebanana. You also didn’t even bother giving the Metrocop Zombie custom gibs. They STILL use the Classic Zombie gibs, which is pure laziness. I have a feeling a lot of the models, textures and animations are from Gamebanana. Why don’t you take the time to make your own models or find someone to make them for you. Next are the maps. Okay, first Gordon starts in a mineshaft. Okay, nothing to simple. Then he’s outside. Makes sense. Next, he goes into a shack and the shack has a vent that leads to a Combine base. This makes no sense. One of the portions also has the player go to an airport. Why? Episode 2 has a perfectly fine helicopter, but somehow you make the player travel to an airport instead. Why would Eli have a helicopter if only Alyx can drive it? Could you at least take in consideration the HL2 story arc, even if it’s a mod? This mod makes it look like you’ve never played a Half-Life game. I’ve also been informed the game has a gallery with the Jeep and your life story. You don’t need to include this. This isn’t Duke Nukem, mate. I can’t even find any upsides in this mod because it’s so badly made. Lastly, I find it funny that you actually included Aperture Science stuff. The fact is that, just because the Borealis is owned by Aperture, does NOT mean stuff like turrets and Aperture tech is on it. Please be more consistent. That’s my big review. I give this mod, overall, a 2.8/10. I can give you credit for at least trying to make an Episode 3 mod, but you did a damn bad job at it. Thank you for your time.»

It’s not bad and it gets better but it never shines. I’ve never stopped to say “wow” so I’ll say it’s “Average”.

GAMEPLAY
Anything that works is simply because of the game that is Half Life, which is still fun today and that gameplay hasn’t been augmented by the author in any way. On the contrary, it has been hindered by the way to frequent, way to annoying and way to amateurish 3rd person cutscenes. I understand what Leon and fans of his work say, and I respect those opinions. But this is my review, based on my experience and I must say it’s lacking. The 3rd person cutscenes are annoying as hell, they interrupt the gameplay flow and force an exposition on the player, without adding anything meaningful, in part because Source Engine simply hasn’t been made for it.

SOUND
I don’t like when a music is forced on me. The first time I heard an out of place music in this mod (taken from another game by the way) I hurried to mute the music altogether, only to find out I just couldn’t. Even if I muted it completely, the music continued on with the same volume as before. I had to quicksave and reload to make it go away. That’s shoddy.

OVERALL PRESENTATION
It is sadly a collection of out-of-topic assets slapped together, not because it had a modicum of sense (it didn’t by the way, Star Trek shuttle I’m looking at you) but because the author simply could do it, and so he did – because this was his artistic view. Fair enough, but this artistic view didn’t tell me anything, didn’t convince me, and left me uninterested.

And until now I avoided to mention the elephant in the room: the pretentious title “Episode 3”, and even if I will continue to avoid it, I will say this:

Think twice if you expect a Valve-quality Episode 3 mod. Think twice if you expect a visually coherent, well-thought-out mod contained within the Half Life 2 universe. You also must be a fan of the author’s previous work to be able to appreciate it. Tastes matter here, more than anywhere else.

I won’t say you should avoid it, but I will certainly say again that you should think twice and temper your expectations if you decide to give it a go.

I think Leon did a good job on the mod yet the problem I find with it is that it just doesn’t have a Half-Life feel to it much at all. I’m okay with some of the changes then others like the combine don’t make sense, at least make a story around why these things have suddenly changed then it would make more sense and I would have given this mod a higher rating but overall it is a good mod I hope Leon doesn’t get trashed for the lack of HL theme.

Let´s start with, GOOD:

-Good looking places
-Borealis
-Barret 50.cal
-Some ost
-Gordon´s model
-Kleiner´s model
-Funny noises
-Koskenkorva hidden-ad, kjeh ;´)
-Ending song
-One or few choice(´s)
-Some cool effect´s in world, guns..
-Relaxing songs even in dangerous places

-The whole plot
-Pointless cutscenes (like the ones where Gordon just walks like 2 meters and then u can play again, what the **** was the point in that?)
-So less talking
-Terrible voice acting
-SO much stolen/re-used content from other games and mods.
-Borealis is more like that spaceship from Alien movies
-Some of the textures.. They really don´t fit in Source engine. (like ones what looks like VR training from MGS-series, jesus christ)
-Fast headcrabs, fast headcrabs everywhere
-Antions, antlions everywhere..
-Spaceships, from nowhere, since when rebels knew to made spaceships and everything and use them in earth?
-Kleiner was an *******, what was the point saving him and even when he dies anyway?
-Easter eggs, worst what i ever seen, they were not easter eggs, easter eggs are supposed to FIND but they just came to my way even when i was not looking for them..
-WW1-2 music
-So much re-used songs from other mods and games
-Sometimes i felt like, was the Gordon in mentality problems
-Shoot the zombie cop that doesn´t have headcrab in the head, pukes headcrab from nowhere.
-Ugly poison headcrabs
-Ugly green blood
-Ugly antlions
-Pre-credits and end-credits, horribliest **** i ever seen.
-Menu
-Hard mod, even in easy difficult
-Stupid puzzles and locations to solve those.
-Portal turrets, what was the point of using those, and they were combine´s turrets?
-Combine´s models..
-GAAAAAH why no crowbar ;_; i´m not a Shepard that uses Wrench plz..
-Vortigaunts were enemies without reason and sometime later they were friends again, what the ****?
-Glitchy hud, disappears sometimes after cutscenes etc.
-Glitchyes, everywhere.
-Sometimes maps were buggy, they had black **** on them and i couldn´t see what was what and i had to approach them so they could go away. The black **** i mean.
-HNNNNGHHH soldiers all the time and everywhere.
-Why would CP have HECU suit. wtf.
-Slowmotion sometimes and for no reason.
-Loud-*** guns #earrape
-Re-used and re-textured locations from other HL games and some other mods.
-Why would Glock-18 from CS:GO be re-used in this?
-«Gordon, i loved u like my own son» Why the **** Kleiner would say that to Gordon, they were just partners in BM and he has never did father kind of things to Gordon.
-Gravity gun likes to appear everywhere, how?
-No hint´s for what i´m gonna do next wtf. Got stuck for many times.
-Gordon sounds more like Citizen, /_\
-Breen was back, how, why, what was purpose of him? How could he have survived from that falling in Citadel etc?
-G-man, even he had no purpose on this at all, he was like, ghost all the time.

Okay, i waited for like 4-5 years or so? And got this? Well, it was okay, same old Leon´s gameplay style. But still.. No 🙁
I finished this in like, 10 hours and now i´m mad.
I was expecting something else but got game that feels like Dark Souls. So much rage.
I don´t know what to say anymore but people, if u dont have hope for HL3 and need something. Here is the only thing.. But dont play if you need Official game´s
I can´t recommend this almost to anyone, but only for those who needs something to continue HL2:EP2, here is the thing to you then..

Some thoughts that would be nice to see in the future:

-THIS NEED CO-OP ASAP would be funny with friends after all. (This could fit for Obsidian Conflict or Synergy or have it´s own thing just think it.)
-In the future.. Do all by yourself, not using other´s things etc. I know you have permission to use those but still..
-Better voice acting, like the ones from Underhell or 1887 EP1

This mod is quantity of quality. It throws all of Half-Life’s major themes and mechanics out the window in favor of poorly executed maps/cutscenes and assets from the Gmod workshop. I don’t know what putting star trek ships, SWAT metropolice, and unwarranted developer commentary in a mod is for, but it’s not Half-Life 2: Episode 3 like it’s named when you fire it up on steam. The characters are poorly re-written, suddenly White Forest is only steps away from a combine city, and Alyx just dies randomly at the end and is completely glossed over.

I don’t suggest this mod to any Half-Life fan unless you have time to kill, love hand holding, button pressing, and a complete disregard of Half-Life lore.
