Hi, I recently released a new patch for SURVIVOR that implements some bug fixes and improvements. Changes and screenshots are listed below.
— Compressed everything into VPK files.
— Added a download folder.
— Removed the Shader Editor sue to issues with the mod’s post-processing.
— Fixed the players not being able to blink.
— Added the nexttoken patch, protecting players from RCE exploits. (https://www.oneupsecurity.com/research/remote-code-execution-in-source-games)
— Implemented SourceBots (https://github.com/kolessios/sourcebots) as a replacement for the old bot AI. (fix use sound being pressed)
— The Healgun now uses a proper beam.
— Added HL2DM maps.
I’m unsure if future patches will release since I’m busy with multiple projects at the moment, but here is basically what I’ve been working on for SURVIVOR.

The game launches fine (no black screen) but the main menu is blank except for the background image (doesn’t display text items to click).. I can’t click on anything or see any text to start the game.

if you are using more than 3 bots it starts lagging really bad. Can you sort it please.
How do I play Story Mode?
for some reason am very attracted to the hl japanese version, good job =D
i have some ideas for a newer update, i hope they help.
1. AI difficulty select: it would work similar to cs source, nothing more to add.
2. player rank select: how this would work is as your creating a server you can set the player class from either E to S, and each class would give you more and more weapons, you can find more about the HL2 survivor unlockable weapons with this link: Combineoverwiki.net, you’ll find more info there
3. random player class select: since you can’t choose randomly thats kind of weird, although that would be a good addition if i say so.
4. team balance: almost everytime i do play a match the teams are underbalanced alot, as in one team would have more players than the other, and even theres no team restrictions if a team has more players than the other, which is very annoying
5. being able to get armor from collecting dog tags: this one does sort of make sense in my opinion since the only way for now to get armor is the suit chargers in the HL2DM maps, and i just don’t really understand why that’s a thing, but in anyway that is just fine enough but getting armor in the matches without suit chargers is impossible, so that change would really be good, just like all the other changes.
The newest release is unplayable, the framerate is godawful.
Not sure what causes it but jesus. This is not good, hope a patch comes soon
I am unsure of what causes the framerate issues, but I’m certain it’s due to the unoptimized maps or the new bots. I plan on moving this to source sdk 2013 base ce multiplayer (https://github.com/Nbc66/source-sdk-2013-ce) which should improve optimization and stability, but I’m busy with multiple projects right now. I will work on this again when I’m finished though.
This flew past my radar, didn’t even notice this updated!
I had that same issue, that happens when you have too many bots in your map, try to lower to count to 16. If they suddenly stop joining, that means that the maxplayers got lowered to 4 for some reason.
Open the console and input «Disconnect» «Heartbeat» «Maxplayers 16» and then «map anymapthatyouwanttoplay».
The new bots are way better than the 1.0 iteration, even if their ai is still pretty basic, this time they manage to shoot the player.

В контенте есть куча роликов из игры, половина из них присутствуют на ютубе но в убогом качестве.

Основными проблемами на данный момент являются две: язык и не слушается мышь (автоматически поворачивается влево по кругу, думаю, для многих знакомо).

Теперь о том как управлять в фирменном меню:
После запуска будет 2 заставки которые можно пропустить кинув монетку (F1) потом меню с нарисованной карточкой и монеткой, чтобы вставить монету жмем F1, потом надо нажать старт F2, появится сообщение с таймером в котором выбираем левое меню( навигация осуществляется стрелочками с клавиатуры а выбор левой кнопкой мыши либо F2).
Теперь перед нами открылось основное меню в котором есть выбор из 3х картинок:
Первая это одиночная компания (Store Mode)/ Вторая это МП(Battle Mode) / И третья миссии(Mission Mode).
Во всех бат файлах прописано оригинальное разрешение экрана от игрового автомата(не рекомендую изменять т.к. будет много глюков с интерфейсов в игре), прописан размер хип памяти(можно менять но тоже не желательно).
Консоль в этом движке вынесена из игры в отдельное окошко с названием Debug_console, необходимые команды вводить в него.
МП проверен с товарищем Shlak. Чтобы сыграть, одному человеку необходимо создать игру и открыть порты, клиентам прописать в консоле » connect IP_сервера«.

Gameplay [ edit ]
Story Mode [ edit ]
The Story Mode offers a single-player campaign that approximates the original game’s storyline. In order to make it more suitable for playing on an arcade machine, substantial parts of the game were removed with just the combat sections left behind. Some of the main plot elements are outlined in skippable cut-scenes.
Battle Mode [ edit ]
The main Survivor’s game mode, featuring most of the custom content and the only mode to receive content updates after the game’s initial release, the Battle mode is essentially four-on-four team deathmatch. The players can choose from five playable characters: Ranger, Soldier, Sniper, Engineer and Medic. Each character can be of either Combine or Resistance faction with different stats and available equipment, additional items could also be unlocked by playing.
Mission Mode [ edit ]
In Mission Mode a team of up to four players fights against various enemies from Half-Life 2 in order to complete a certain objective within given time. A total of three missions are available, their objectives being to collect gems dropped by the killed Antlions, destroy Zombie houses and escape the level while avoiding traps and fighting Combine forces. Each mission is available in three difficulty levels.
Network system [ edit ]
Like several other Taito’s arcade games, Survivor uses the NESYS game network. Special NESYS smart cards were required to save data like the results of the played games for the online ranking, player’s name and character. [6] Each card was limited to a single character only, who was chosen during the card registration process and could not be changed later. While it is possible to play without the card, some of the features are inaccessible without it, most notably the accumulation of Battle Points and Survivor Gold. Initially the card was also required to advance past the third chapter of the Story mode and to unlock a difficulty higher than normal in the Mission mode, however these requirements were removed in update 2.07. [7] Each NESYS card was limited to 100 uses, after which a new card would need to be purchased, insertion of a card with no uses into the arcade machine would trigger the process of transferring the saved data onto a new card, during which character’s name could also be changed. [8] Cards also had an expiration period: if a card was not used for 90 days, it became unusable and its data could not be recovered.
Survivor camp [ edit ]
An online service called the Survivor camp was available to all NESYS card owners, accessible by mobile phones and personal computers. [9] Up to 20 NESYS cards could be registered to a single camp. Players could view the results of their previous games and browse the global leaderboards, as well customize their characters: [10]
Expired cards were allowed to be used with the Survivor camp, however if none of the cards were used for 90 days all the camp data was removed with no possibility to restore it. [11]
Development [ edit ]
Half-Life 2: Survivor was announced on November 1, 2004, 15 days prior to the public release of Half-Life 2. [12] In a self-published press release Taito stated that they are aiming for realistic first-person shooter experience with the help of their new Type X arcade hardware featuring 5.1 digital surround sound and widescreen display. The game was first revealed to the public at Taito’s private exhibition in Tokyo on November 29, 2005. [13] It was originally meant to be released in summer of 2005, [12] but was later pushed back to March 2006 [13] and then to June 28.
The space-saving version of the arcade machine was showcased at AOU Amusement Expo on February 17, 2007 [14] and began operation after March. [2]
Half-Life 2: Survivor version 2.0 [ edit ]
On July 6, 2007 a massive update named Half-Life 2: Survivor version 2.0 was announced. [15] Public testing was held from July 13 to July 26 in 5 Taito-managed stores and 6 third-party stores, [16] on September 15 Survivor 2.0 was showcased again at the 45th Amusement Machine Show. [14] Testers were required to have a special Survivor 2.0 NESYS card, which did not work with the regular Survivor, but could be used after the release of the 2.0 update. [16]
Half Life 2: Survivor version 2.0 started operation on November 29, 2007, adding the following features into the game: [16] [17]
Several more updates were later added, named 2.01, 2.02, 2.03, 2.04, 2.05, 2.07, and a game balance adjustment update without a version number. [7] In total, these updates added 3 more maps and 11 weapons.
End of the network service [ edit ]
On October 1, 2009 an announcement was made about the network service termination soon after the launch of the Cyber Diver – Taito’s new arcade FPS and a spiritual successor to the Half-Life 2: Survivor. [18] The last random map week began on January 22, 2010, [19] after which since February 1 NESYS cards can no longer be used.
Half-Life 2: Survivor players were able to obtain special titles for the Cyber Diver. [20] Since the Survivor Camp ID was required, registration remained possible until February 25, [18] after which the Camp was shut down.
The official website was shut down in 2016. [21]
PC port [ edit ]
On June 18, 2013 the complete Half-life 2: Survivor 2.0 content dump was released, [22] soon after that the game was modified to run on a regular Windows PC. The port gives access to the developer console which was disabled in the original arcade version, therefore making multiplayer possible through the use of console commands.
The game requires the screen resolution to be at least 1360×768, as the position of most of the user interface elements was optimized for the arcade machine’s resolution and cannot be changed.
Reception [ edit ]
The game was met with a generally positive reception. Reviewers found it interesting to play the game in an arcade environment, and considered the shift to an arcade setting an excellent introduction of the Half-Life series to Japan.
Most reviewers agreed that the control scheme, while seeming unusual at first, behaves very intuitively, allowing even people unfamiliar with first-person shooters to play with relative ease. [13] [23] Game Watch reporter Kazutaka Toyotomi felt that pressing the floor pedals to crouch and jump «makes [him] feel like ‘doing something’ rather than just pressing a key». He also praised the developers for paying maximum attention to reducing the possibility of the motion sickness. [13] 4Gamer concluded that the arcade machine might be an interesting opportunity to enjoy the game without having to invest in a new computer or sound system, and encouraged the owners of powerful computers to also try out the experience of Half-Life 2: Survivor. [23]

Note: these are the stats that are displayed in the menu and on the official website, not the ones used in the game. They do not precisely indicate how much a certain character is better than another, they are mostly used to indicate just who is better.
Weapons and items [ edit ]
The Battle Mode features all 12 weapons from the Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, and adds another 38 new and unique only to the Battle Mode, making it a total of 50 weapons and usable items available to the players. [3]
Maps [ edit ]
The Battle Mode features 14 playable maps, [4] two of which are modified Half-Life 2: Deathmatch maps and 12 were created specially for the Half-Life 2: Survivor. Most maps are based on the different locations visited during the Half-Life 2 storyline.
Unlike Half-Life 2: Deathmatch or Half-Life with its expansions, all Half-Life 2: Survivor’s online servers were always running the same map, which was changed once per week. Occasionally random map weeks were announced, usually on holidays or other special events; during a random map week the map changed every day. Map schedules for both normal and random map weeks were decided based on map popularity votes.

Development [ edit ]
On release, the available inventory consisted of the weapons already seen in Half-Life 2: Deathmatch and 7 new weapons: Smoke Grenade, Sniper Rifle, Fire Grenade, Paint Gun, Shake Trap, Provisional Shield and Spark Generator. Water Gate and Lockdown were the first playable maps included in the game.
Battle Mode’s first updates focused solely on the maps. First, Collapsed City, Truss Bridge and Sunset Coast were added. Several updates were made to the maps, each time a new revision number was added and all of the existing maps were updated to that revision, in some revisions new ones were also added: revision 1.1 did not introduce any new maps, Grit Lake and LostTown were added in revision 1.11, and revision 1.2 added Dark Fortress.
Survivor 2.0 update was released on November 29, 2007, introducing significant gameplay changes. A new Medic playable character was added, all of the existing characters had their equipment reorganized, Survivor Gold in-game currency was introduced. A total of 22 new weapons became available: Poison Crossbow, Recovery Injection, Stun Sniper Rifle, Dual Enhanced Pistols, Silenced Enhanced Pistol, Gatling Gun, Laser Rifle, Double-barreled shotgun, Energy Battery, Capture Grenade, Poison Grenade, Whiteout Grenade, Mind Drink, Power Drink, Special Magazine, Health Charge Disk, Hand Shield, Tornado Trap, Sentry Gun, Wave Canceller, Stungun and Pulse Knife. Finally, three new maps were added: Station C17, Silent Sanctuary and Nexus Building. Update 2.0 and all the further updates also featured various balance adjustments.
Update 2.02 was released on February 13 of 2008, [5] it updated the game’s maps to revision 2.1 and added two new maps: Steam Lab and Combine’s Nest. Update 2.04, released on August 5 of 2008, [5] updated all maps to revision 2.11. Update 2.05 was released on December 17, 2008 [5] all of the existing purchasable weapons had their price reduced and 9 new were added to the item store: Jump Drink, Charge Bow, Dual RPG, Surprise Box, Decoy Bomb, Powershake, Energy Injection, Timer Grenade and Marking Sniper Rifle. Update 2.07 was released on April 7, 2009, [5] it updated the maps to revision 2.2 and added Last Garden.

В отличии от оригинала, в аркадной версии отсутствуют скриптовые ролики, головоломки, есть ограничения во времени на прохождение уровня, присутствуют метки-ориентиры, куда надо идти. Сюжет, в целом, повторяет оригинал. Озвучка в игре на английском языке, с японскими субтитрами.

Естественно, управление тоже отличается, т.к. это автомат, в котором нету мышки и клавиатуры.
Левый джойстик отвечает за перемещение, правый за стрельбу и управление камерой. Снизу расположены педали, одна отвечает за приседание, другая за прыжок.
Автомат оборудован объемным 5.1 звуком.
Сохраняться можно, только если у игрока есть специальная карта, которую выдают перед началом игры.

Gameplay [ edit ]
Story Mode [ edit ]
The Story Mode offers a single-player campaign that approximates the original game’s storyline. In order to make it more suitable for playing on an arcade machine, substantial parts of the game were removed with just the combat sections left behind. Some of the main plot elements are outlined in skippable cut-scenes.
Battle Mode [ edit ]
The main Survivor’s game mode, featuring most of the custom content and the only mode to receive content updates after the game’s initial release, the Battle mode is essentially four-on-four team deathmatch. The players can choose from five playable characters: Ranger, Soldier, Sniper, Engineer and Medic. Each character can be of either Combine or Resistance faction with different stats and available equipment, additional items could also be unlocked by playing.
Mission Mode [ edit ]
In Mission Mode a team of up to four players fights against various enemies from Half-Life 2 in order to complete a certain objective within given time. A total of three missions are available, their objectives being to collect gems dropped by the killed Antlions, destroy Zombie houses and escape the level while avoiding traps and fighting Combine forces. Each mission is available in three difficulty levels.
Network system [ edit ]
Like several other Taito’s arcade games, Survivor uses the NESYS game network. Special NESYS smart cards were required to save data like the results of the played games for the online ranking, player’s name and character. [6] Each card was limited to a single character only, who was chosen during the card registration process and could not be changed later. While it is possible to play without the card, some of the features are inaccessible without it, most notably the accumulation of Battle Points and Survivor Gold. Initially the card was also required to advance past the third chapter of the Story mode and to unlock a difficulty higher than normal in the Mission mode, however these requirements were removed in update 2.07. [7] Each NESYS card was limited to 100 uses, after which a new card would need to be purchased, insertion of a card with no uses into the arcade machine would trigger the process of transferring the saved data onto a new card, during which character’s name could also be changed. [8] Cards also had an expiration period: if a card was not used for 90 days, it became unusable and its data could not be recovered.
Survivor camp [ edit ]
An online service called the Survivor camp was available to all NESYS card owners, accessible by mobile phones and personal computers. [9] Up to 20 NESYS cards could be registered to a single camp. Players could view the results of their previous games and browse the global leaderboards, as well customize their characters: [10]
Expired cards were allowed to be used with the Survivor camp, however if none of the cards were used for 90 days all the camp data was removed with no possibility to restore it. [11]
Development [ edit ]
Half-Life 2: Survivor was announced on November 1, 2004, 15 days prior to the public release of Half-Life 2. [12] In a self-published press release Taito stated that they are aiming for realistic first-person shooter experience with the help of their new Type X arcade hardware featuring 5.1 digital surround sound and widescreen display. The game was first revealed to the public at Taito’s private exhibition in Tokyo on November 29, 2005. [13] It was originally meant to be released in summer of 2005, [12] but was later pushed back to March 2006 [13] and then to June 28.
The space-saving version of the arcade machine was showcased at AOU Amusement Expo on February 17, 2007 [14] and began operation after March. [2]
Half-Life 2: Survivor version 2.0 [ edit ]
On July 6, 2007 a massive update named Half-Life 2: Survivor version 2.0 was announced. [15] Public testing was held from July 13 to July 26 in 5 Taito-managed stores and 6 third-party stores, [16] on September 15 Survivor 2.0 was showcased again at the 45th Amusement Machine Show. [14] Testers were required to have a special Survivor 2.0 NESYS card, which did not work with the regular Survivor, but could be used after the release of the 2.0 update. [16]
Half Life 2: Survivor version 2.0 started operation on November 29, 2007, adding the following features into the game: [16] [17]
Several more updates were later added, named 2.01, 2.02, 2.03, 2.04, 2.05, 2.07, and a game balance adjustment update without a version number. [7] In total, these updates added 3 more maps and 11 weapons.
End of the network service [ edit ]
On October 1, 2009 an announcement was made about the network service termination soon after the launch of the Cyber Diver – Taito’s new arcade FPS and a spiritual successor to the Half-Life 2: Survivor. [18] The last random map week began on January 22, 2010, [19] after which since February 1 NESYS cards can no longer be used.
Half-Life 2: Survivor players were able to obtain special titles for the Cyber Diver. [20] Since the Survivor Camp ID was required, registration remained possible until February 25, [18] after which the Camp was shut down.
The official website was shut down in 2016. [21]
PC port [ edit ]
On June 18, 2013 the complete Half-life 2: Survivor 2.0 content dump was released, [22] soon after that the game was modified to run on a regular Windows PC. The port gives access to the developer console which was disabled in the original arcade version, therefore making multiplayer possible through the use of console commands.
The game requires the screen resolution to be at least 1360×768, as the position of most of the user interface elements was optimized for the arcade machine’s resolution and cannot be changed.
Reception [ edit ]
The game was met with a generally positive reception. Reviewers found it interesting to play the game in an arcade environment, and considered the shift to an arcade setting an excellent introduction of the Half-Life series to Japan.
Most reviewers agreed that the control scheme, while seeming unusual at first, behaves very intuitively, allowing even people unfamiliar with first-person shooters to play with relative ease. [13] [23] Game Watch reporter Kazutaka Toyotomi felt that pressing the floor pedals to crouch and jump «makes [him] feel like ‘doing something’ rather than just pressing a key». He also praised the developers for paying maximum attention to reducing the possibility of the motion sickness. [13] 4Gamer concluded that the arcade machine might be an interesting opportunity to enjoy the game without having to invest in a new computer or sound system, and encouraged the owners of powerful computers to also try out the experience of Half-Life 2: Survivor. [23]

Half-Life 2: Survivor Arcade Maps
These are maps from Half-Life 2: Survivor, a Japanese arcade version of Half-Life 2. They work in most Source games (specifically CS:S and GMod). It includes all 2.2 versions of the battle and mission maps with extra models and materials. Half-Life 2: Survivor is an all-but-obscure arcade game that’s an FPS stuffed into a flight cabinet, making it a rather strange experience for those familiar with the PC or console versions of the game.

As well as this, there is a photo of what appears to be someone with their arm extending towards a PC with the game running on it.
Unused Weapons
Present in the game’s files are a few unused weapons, some of which are functional.
Unused Sounds
Present in the sounds folder is a subfolder called Vehicles, which only contains two sounds.
These files may have been used for a vehicle shown in early gameplay. In Half-Life 2, this is the sound used when getting in and out of the crane.

В связи с тем, что игра переиздается на иной платформе и ориентирована на иной контингент игроков, она во многом отличается от ПК-версии. Дабы адаптировать игру для автоматов, из неё были вырезаны физические головоломки и скриптовые сценки с лицевой анимацией, а на уровнях появились неоновые стрелки, указывающие путь.
Сохраняться в игре можно только с помощью специальной карты памяти, которая даётся в начале игры и вставляется в игровой автомат. Вместо привычных клавиатуры и мыши игрок управляет Фрименом с помощью двух встроенных джойстиков, один из которых отвечает за передвижение игрока, а другой за управление обзором и прицеливанием. Прыжок и приседание выполняются с помощью двух педалей.

Players become paralysed by getting hit by a Stungun or shot from the Stun Sniper Rifle.

Players get the Paint status effect after being shot with the Paint Gun. Players affected become covered in light-green paint, which blocks their field of view, and are constantly displayed on the enemy radar. The body part being hit does not seem to have any effect on the paint overlay size or position in first person view. This effect can last for up to 20 seconds. It is indicated by a green paint splash icon.
This status effect can also be cured by submerging in water.

Players get the Whiteout effect by being near the Whiteout Grenade’s explosion. When under this effect, player’s screen becomes completely white, except for the HUD. This status effect has no HUD icon and doesn’t affect the player’s model, thus other players have no easy way to determine whether a player is blinded or not.
This status effect can not be cured by the Recovery Injection.

Restart Invulnerability [ edit ]

Restart invulnerability is the second of the two status effects that does not require specific weapon or item (the first one being poison due to the poisonous gas barrels). It is applied automatically upon player’s spawn, and blocks all incoming damage to the player. It will also prevent any negative status effects from being applied to the player, positive effects, however, can still be obtained. Other players will see a «RESTART» text floating in front of the player, in first person view the effect is indicated by a circle with «RESTART!» text in it that rotates around the crosshair, this same circle is also displayed on the HUD. This status effect can stay active for only 5 seconds.
Drink effects [ edit ]
Status effects obtained from drinks are unique in that only one drink’s effect can be applied to a player at the same time, if a drink is used or picked up while some other drink’s effect is already active, the first effect will be canceled. All of these effects also have two levels, the second can be obtained by using or picking up a drink while the same drink’s effect is already active. If a third drink of the same type is used or picked up after that, it will be consumed, but will only prolong the duration of the effect.

Half-Life 2: Survivor is an arcade game based on Half-Life 2. It was released on June 28, 2006, on Taito’s Type X+ arcade system, with a 32″ widescreen high definition LCD running at 1360×768 resolution.

Players control their movement using two joysticks (one for each hand) and floor pedals. Three gameplay modes are available: Story, which approximates the events of the original game; Mission, which forces networked players to work cooperatively toward a goal; and Battle, which parallels the deathmatch content of the original game. Up to eight players—either local players or individuals in other networked arcades—can participate in the Battle and Mission modes.
In Story mode, players advance through partial combat scenes from the original game, following neon-lit guiding arrows. Each chapter has several levels with goals such as «Kill Combines» or «Find your way to the goal». When goals are completed, the player is taken to the next level. When players finish all the levels of the chapter, the game ends. Progress can be saved on a removable card to allow the player to choose a new chapter at the next visit. Aside from the G-Man introductory cut-scene, Half-Life 2: Survivor does not incorporate any of Half-Life 2′s story elements, levels, or physics-based puzzles.
In Mission mode, there are three objective maps with three difficulties: normal, hard, and super hard. Map goals include «Collect gems», «Destroy Zombie spawning points», and «Escape». A Battle mode is also available in the game. It is essentially four-on-four team match. Players can choose between two different factions: the Combine and the Human Resistance. Both factions have four classes of troops: Ranger, Soldier, Sniper, and Engineer.
The game uses content common to the Xbox and PC releases, although the game focuses on the set pieces that characterized the original game. Half-Life 2: Survivor was first revealed to the public by Taito in a private exhibition in Tokyo on November 29, 2005. It was originally meant to be released in March 2006 but it was pushed back to June 28, 2006. The game is only available in Japan.
The game runs on a machine based on Taito’s Type X unit, an arcade system built with PC components, which runs on the Windows XP Embedded operating system. The game machine’s cabinet uses a 32 inch LCD screen which runs at a resolution of 1360×768 pixels. The machine also has a 5.1-channel surround sound system, and it uses a smart card for storing player data. Because the game is network-enabled, players in different arcades are able to play with each other. A maximum of eight players can play in the same match; robots are used to fill in empty player slots if there are less than eight human players.
In June 2013, Marphy Black, ben1066, and several other members of Facepunch ported a working version of Half-Life 2: Survivor v2.0 to PC. It is completely working except for online gameplay. It can be downloaded freely here: Facepunch Forums
