» A new fan-made mod that allows players to finish Half-Life: Alyx without a virtual reality (VR) headset has been released.

While this isn’t the first non-VR mod to be created for the game, it’s the only one that lets gamers play through the entire game. The mod can be found on GitHub, appended with setup instructions.

The GitHub page also features all the keyboard and mouse control mapping, as well as walkthrough notes for sections of the game which might not play as smoothly on the keyboard and mouse. «

What a joke! Did you see how much trouble he had inserting both hands at the same time to get the gravity gloves? If there was part that would require pulling two handles placed in opposite directions at the same time, they’d be SCREWED.

Not only that, but the non-VR version displays what you don’t see in VR view, namely that the rendering practically ends right at the edge of your FOV. Notice how the in-game window is insanely small and every time you turn, the picture has to catch up?

Not only from a gameplay perspective was this game not made for non-VR, but a rendering perspective as well. The high FOV provided by monitors is too big for the FOV provided by the game, hence why the game has massive black bars on the sides (essentially).

Anti-VR gamers got what they wanted, and it looks like garbage IMO. It’s a neat little «feature», but it looks like crap.

Half-Life: Alyx non-VR mod (driver)

First driver allows to complete Half-Life: Alyx without VR on keyboard and mouse. This method allows to complete the game and try out VR mechanics. Some moments will make you sweat, but they are passable in this way. Also, this method allows you to get a very interesting and unusual gameplay (sometimes similar to Amnesia or Penumbra), which unfortunately almost never happens in ordinary games. I went through the game in VR and went through it that way, and I find both experiences very interesting.

The driver can be used for other VR games, for example, you can play DOOM VFR, Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot, and so on.

Follow each item carefully.

There are also several alternative button bindings in the driver archive. There is a profiles key binding for WASD for spectator mode (or use a different language layout, without the character «S»), for keyboards without Numpad and so on.

• Chapter 3: Is Or Will Be (fix the wheel)

First you need to pull the pipe out of the wheel. Then go down a bit using the «PageDown» button. Scroll the wheel with RShift and look. After the necessary rotation, fix the hand using the » ‘ » button. Holding «RShift» and » ‘ «, raise the pipe in your right hand (left mouse button). Mobile and DIY VR HMD

Сan play the game on a smartphone in VR, for example, through the application Moonlight (for Nvidia 600 Series +), Sunshine, OpenStream or Trinus. Head position can be transmitted using OpenTrack and FreePie IMU application (for Android, from the OpenTrack archive). More detailed settings can be seen in this video. You can also use third-party drivers for VR with an HMD from a smartphone (in the game settings will need to add a crouch button), to do this, switch TrueOpenVR to the controllers only mode.

For the new method, where only the SteamVR driver is used, it is necessary to change the HMD parameter to 0 in the configuration file «. \Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR\drivers\hlalyx\HalfLifeAlyx.ini» and install the necessary SteamVR driver for the HMD.

Для Half-Life: Alyx cделали мод, который позволяет играть без VR-гарнитуры

Моддер Konqithekonqueror переделал игру Half-Life:Alyx в шутер от первого лица, который не требует использования шлема виртуальной реальности. Свой мод под названием Pancake FPS Starter Kit он опубликовал на GitHub.

Сюжет и уровни мода полностью аналогичны оригинальной Half-Life:Alyx. Konqithekonqueror пояснил, что в нём возможны артефакты и другие баги, над которыми ещё нужно поработать, и призвал пользователей не сердиться на найденные ими недостатки. Он отметил, что это предварительный проект, который потребует значительных изменений для того, чтобы его можно было считать окончательным. Кроме того, функции и содержание мода могут быть значительно изменены. По словам разработчика, созданием Pancake FPS Starter Kit он хотел показать возможности игрового движка Source 2 в стиле, подобном Half-Life 2. Играть же в Alyx он призвал с использованием VR-гарнитуры.

Убирающий VR мод для Half-Life: Alyx получил обновление — теперь можно рисовать мышкой

После релиза Half-Life: Alyx для устройств виртуальной реальности сразу несколько моддеров выпустили свои версии игры без привязки к VR. Но большинство из таких проектов имеют ограниченную функциональность и не позволяют получить удовольствие от прохождения с привычными устройствами. Моддер SoMNst тем временем продолжает создавать более проработанный проект, где уже, например, можно рисовать фломастерами на стекле с помощью мышки.

При этом некоторые элементы всё же потеряли свой шарм — например, Аликс теперь не поднимает руки в сцене с комбайнами, или не взбирается по лестницам с усилием. Тем не менее, в комментариях пользователи заверяют, что это одна из лучших версий подобного мода для Half-Life: Alyx. К сожалению, автор пока не выпустил его в открытый доступ и продолжает работу.

Свежий ролик демонстрирует новые анимации, новую модель обзора, исправленную скорость передвижения игрока при уклонениях и некоторые другие доработки игрового процесса, которые призваны сделать игру немного более сложной, чем оригинал.

Стоит пройти даже без ВР, отличная игра, дизайн, саундтрек и сюжет. Но я настоятельно рекомендую постараться раздобыть шлем, так как это лучший ВР опыт, который есть на данный момент. Игра делалась под ВР и играется просто роскошно.

Мне больше нравится вариант с джой-конами, ВР от Сони и кинектом от Майков. Просто они так занятно сошлись поначалу для возможности поиграть более менее адекватно в эту игру.

одно дело купить консоль, другое дело приблуду которая стоит втридорога и которую потом сложно продать, разница есть. если ты молодой и тебе зрение позволяет играть в вр то хорошо, мне лично в мои 33 года такие штуки не рекомендуются по зрению.

Мой окулус обошелся мне в 35к. Моим друзъям в 28 с амазона с доставкой и налогом. ВиАр игр, как минимум в стиме, очень много. И среди тонн дешевого треша есть очень и очень крутые проекты. Кроме вышеупомянутой халфы и всем известного бонворкса в вр ты можешь (в моём случае на окулусе) поиграть в GORN, Iron Wolf, Pavlov, The RooM VR, I Expect You To Die, Karnage Chronicles, Robo Recall, Asgard Wraith, Phasmophobia, и тд. А также в кучу разной неплохой уже откровенной индюшатины, так что без дела шлем точно лежать не будет.

Я же так и сделал. Меня амазон в бан же отправил)) Я взял у перекупов, в финском магазе, нормальном, с годом гарантии, за 35. А друг заказывал два, себе и еще нашему тиммейту, а больше двух никак не заказать было. Да и ждать не хотелось) Всё таки все вместе хотели залететь в ВиАр))

У меня НЕ Ви-Фи6 и задержка в виртуал десктопе 28-30мс, попробуй развернуть роутер как-нибудь или может между шлемом и роутером что-то есть? У меня мешала коробка с кафелем)))

И редкие подергивания, небольшие, но есть. Вот ломаю голову, в чем траблос.

99% процентов это из-за роутера, у меня он стоит под столом, а стол в одном месте поддерживает кафель (я накупил сто лет назад еще кафеля в ванну, так руки и не дошли))) и когда я вставал и надевал шлем, то получалось, что он был у меня как бы за вот этим кафелем, за углом типа. Я просто выдвинул его оттуда и подёргивания прошли. Я тоже ломал голову долго, так как в первый раз я запускал и ничего не лагало, а потом через пару дней, когда я всё настроил типа, прибрался в комнате и сел (встал))) играть, то началось. Также если у тебя роутер поддерживает 2 диапазона (что, наверно, точно), то ставь его на ветку 5ггц и отрубай оттуда все девайсы. У меня мобила, планшет, нинтенда и телик на 2.4 ггц, а на 5ггц только шлем. И еще, если роутер у тебя около телевизора, то тоже попробуй отодвинуть. И кстати, что за видеокарта у тебя? И какие настройки в виртуал десктопе? Я за время владения неплохо начал шарить, могу подсказать что-то.

Alyx без VR это шутан, который в 2021 году не выдерживает никакой критики. Посмотрите на тот же HL2, который в свое время был прорывным, а сейчас это meh шутан в который зумеры не могут играть из-за скуки.

Нуууу, нет, не очень. Если ты фанат серии, конечно да. Но если человек никогда не играл до этого, то сомнительное удовольствие. Я не проходил вот хл в детстве, мне никогда особо не было интересно, но решил поиграть перед Аликс. Ну и это очень скучно. Сюжет, да, любопытный. Но на этом все заканчивается

А зумеры являются лакмусовой бумажкой для игры. Они не страдают синдромом утенка и у них нет галимой ностальгии, они оценивают продукт без поблажек. И не в его пользу.

Пусть оценивают что угодно, я привык руководствоваться своим мнением и впечатлениями, а не ориентироваться на каких-то гипотетических зумеров.

Так и не буду. И тебе не советую, и другим тоже. Те кто обломают себе всю игру этим и подобным модом, потом не смогут нормально насладиться оригиналом.

Хотя если вы бедная сельская гей мерша, которая ВР видела один раз в своем местном торговом центре, то играйте конечно. Еще можно попросить чтобы адаптировали игру на Source 1, вдруг у вас комп не тянет Source 2

Not totally sure what you’re trying to say, but if you’re wondering if they made Alyx VR only for a profit motive then I’m fairly sure they didn’t.

If Valve wanted pure profit they’d just slap together a flat screen game, slap «Half Life» on it, and sell millions of units, and could have done so at any time in the last 15 years (Slight hyperbole there, but you get the point)

They certainly didn’t do it to «keep other players away».

In short, Valve are interested in VR, have invested a lot in their own VR tech (the Index) and Gabe Newell is a big VR fan. The upshot is that they made a VR game because they wanted to.

Anecdotally Valve (and especially Gabe) had zero interest in making another Half Life game. It was only when Alyx was pitched as a VR game that it got greenlit.

That doesn’t mean they’ll never make another non-VR game, but given their investments it would seem silly to do nothing to promote VR as a platform now.

Is that the proof that it doesn’t work properly or do you think this is a appropriate way to play the game?

My favourite thing is that it shows just opening doors three times. Which lets be honest is probably the easiest interaction to deal with and it still manages to make it look awkward.

I mean I wouldn’t even have been mad if they just made it auto slide when pressing a button instead of dragging. There is no hope for the full interactivity in the flat version anyway, and we have all seen the horror of 6DoF on keyboard lol.

If someone truly wants to make a flat Half Life Alyx, they should just redesign it all instead of replication.

That’s not even close to everything they’ve invested in VR. Valve has.

— Developed the Index, of course.

— Developed Lighthouse tracking which has been used by Valve, HTC and Pimax headsets as well as some enterprise headsets.

— Aided in the development of the Vive, Rift and Reverb G2 headsets.

— Developed SteamVR and OpenVR which are open and work with all VR content, not just content available on Steam.

— Developed Unity and UE4 VR plugins which make VR implementation a snap for indie devs that might not have the capability/resources to implement VR all on their own. The plugins also come with sample scenes that demonstrate many common types of VR interactions to aid devs in development. Basically all indie Unity and UE4 games in VR were made possible by Valve.

— Developed/commissioned VR software like SteamVR Home, The Lab, MoonDust, Hand Lab and, of course, Half-Life: Alyx.

I might be forgetting some things. It should be clear, though, that Valve has and is investing a LOT in VR. Many (not all but many) of the above points have been given out for free to consumers and developers. Short-term profits are clearly not the goal.

Valve’s goal is to nurture the VR landscape, promote adoption and build a backbone that makes VR accessible for consumers and developers. They really don’t get enough credit in this regard. People just *expect* everything to work but don’t really think about the company putting in the time and effort to make everything *just work*.

Making HLA VR-exclusive was part of this goal. It wasn’t made VR-exclusive to exclude flat gamers. The fact is, if it weren’t developed to promote VR adoption, it wouldn’t have been made at all. The goal was not to make a HL game but rather to make a VR game and HL was simply chosen as the IP to use toward that end.

Как запустить Half-Life: Alyx без VR. Пошаговая инструкция

Релиз новой игры во вселенной Half-Life — большое событие. К сожалению, многие геймеры не смогут поиграть в Half-Life: Alyx из-за отсутствия шлема виртуальной реальности. Тем не менее, если вам все же очень хочется посмотреть на локации вживую, то такой способ есть.

Для начала скачайте Steam VR и убедитесь, что компьютер соответствует системным требованиям.

После того, как Steam VR установится, скачайте сцены Half-Life: Alyx из Steam Workshop.

Теперь сцены нужно распаковать специальной программой GCFScape.

Создайте папку hla по пути:
steamapps-common-SteamVR-tools-steamvr_environments-game. Т.е. полный путь для распаковки будет выглядеть так steamapps-common-SteamVR-tools-steamvr_environments-game-hla

Поочередно откройте все три файла vpk в GCFScape и распакуйте их в указанную выше папку. Кликните правой кнопкой на папке root, нажмите extract, выберите путь. В результате содержимое трех файлов окажется в папке root. Перенесите его в папку hla. Можно просто вырезать и вставить.

Теперь найдите файл gameinfo.gi по пути steamapps-common-SteamVR-tools-steamvr_environments-game-steamtours. Откройте его блокнотом. Найдите блок SearchPaths и вставьте следующий текст.

i tried searching the forums for a recent discussion on this but found nothing. workshop is also devoid. so ill start a new thread to ask what might have been asked before; is there a decent mod to play this game without VR? im a massive hl fan and ive played mostly every user made campaigns for hl2 and hl1. i just want to play this game so bad for the story but i have no interest in VR what-so-ever.

so anyways is it still to early to hope for a mostly functional non-VR mod?

Depends what you mean by «decent» 🙂

There aren’t any I’m aware of that are complete that fully make the game non-VR (i.e. without weird camera artefacts / replacing 6dof interactions with traditonal controls), so if you’re looking for something akin to a regular non-VR FPS you’re going to be disappointed.

That said there are options:

— The most complete I know about is this one: https://github.com/r57zone/Half-Life-Alyx-novr which works by emulating the motion controller input (see videos on that page for caveats).

— There’s another somewhere (sorry no idea of link) that is more like a traditional FPS, but uses console commands to straight up skip whole sections of the game that aren’t translatable.

— I also believe there’s a full de-make in the works to rebuild the game as non-VR but they’ve only done a couple of chapters so no telling when or if that’ll be completed (it’s been in development for a year now I think)

If you really just want the story and you don’t want/can’t play in VR I’d mostly recommend just watching a playthrough on twitch/youtube etc

Anti-VR gamers got what they wanted, and it looks like garbage IMO. It’s a neat little «feature», but it looks like crap.

You’d have to remake the moving options, all the mechanics for aiming, and grabing stuff. There might be puzzle or interractions in the game that require precise manipulation of object in space, wich would be very hard to do without motion controllers.

And more importantly, it would suck. Because even if you replaced all the mechnics by their standard FPS equivalent, all the game would still have been designed, tested, and scalled with VR in mind.

Porting something designed for VR in 2D screen and gameplay would be technically possible, but it would make a mediocre game at best.

People have to understand. This is not a 2D game that was made into VR just to promote the tech. This always was a VR game, that would not really work in 2D.

I know Valve says that too but I don’t believe this same as when companies said they couldn’t offer a demo of a game when it was absolutely possible should they have actually tried. People have been just fine playing 3D in 2D. Companies have been just fine supporting both 2D controls and 3D controls and games with both can be completely fun when including both and in both ways.

Realistically, if it backfires and they don’t recoup the costs then you can be sure they will either put out a 2D patch or hope it makes profit in x years. There’s no way that x percent of the low percent of VR users will make profit in short time (unless it didn’t cost much to make).

Half-Life: Alyx

Моддер r57zone опубликовал модификацию для Half-Life: Alyx, позволяющую полностью пройти игру на клавиатуре и мышке. Ранее с этим были связаны проблемы и были ограничения из-за VR-направленности тайтла.

Модификация использует все необходимые игровые механики, однако некоторые реализованы через специальные режимы, вызываемые нажатием определенных клавиш. С процессом установки и настройки управления можно ознакомиться на странице мода.

По словам r57zone, с прохождением некоторых локаций и решением загадок могут возникнуть проблемы. Для этого моддер опубликовал инструкцию, как преодолеть все трудности без VR-гаджета.

Пару дней назад геймдизайнер Робин Уолкер рассказал о том, что в Valve не исключают, что в будущем какой-нибудь энтузиаст сможет выпустить модификацию, которая позволит играть в Half-Life: Alyx без VR-шлем. Судя по всему, прогноз стал реальностью.

Недавно основатель YouTube-канала Valve News Network Тайлер МакВикер провел трансляцию на Twitch, в рамках которой он продемонстрировал, как Alyx работает без VR-шлема. Результат получился далеким от идеала, но зрители все равно были впечатлены.

При этом блогер управлял персонажем при помощи мыши и клавиатуры. Как выяснилось, в игре есть консольная команда «vr_enable_fake_vr_test». Это значительно упростит работу модерам, так как все необходимые для доработки инструменты уже имеются.

I still think it says it all that while Oculus was buying exclusivity and closing off their systems, Valve made a statement that they would invest in VR games regardless of which platform they are developing for to reduce the need to go with exclusivity deals and to promote a more open VR environment.

Pair that with the Open software and Hardware designs as well as working with other companies and you really can see how much they seem to want to invest into this just to get VR moving.

To be honest valve already has that Gaming monopoly and oculus just came in new. If all Vr games would be available on steam, most people would just never even download the oculus client and buy games in their store. So valve didnt really needed to make stuff just exclusive, every development in Vr would very likely push steam Vr the most. That being said i think it was a super strange business decision for oculus to not support other Vr headsets on their store. Epic is paying a lot of money to get people to use their store and oculus is just excluding 40% of the pc Vr market. Little bit weird

Valve does not and has never held a monopoly. It is however basically a market hegemony due to it’s early influence in the industry and the amount of Steam Keys that are already being distributed through out the market from multiple parties.

But Valve is in that position by earning it, not by using any monopolistic tactics. It was one of the first and best PC Gaming platforms/stores and has became as big as it is through it’s user base enjoying it. Other markets and developers chose it as the PC distribution platform of choice but there has never been any reason why other distributors could not attempt to deliver a service like Steam other than, at the time, they saw no real reason to.

As soon as the PC gaming market boosted, competing against other gaming platforms financially more consistently, other companies wanted a piece of that pie. Except they don’t want to do any of the work.
So instead of companies using their name and finance to offer a good service to build up their reputation and rival Steam, they instead use exclusivity and underhand tactics to try to boost themselves and then citing Steam as being the bad monopolistic company to garner favour, which in all but position, is far from the truth.

Look at Epic, who loves to make Steam sound bad (Though I do agree the 30% cut is a lot) but itself pays for exclusivity rights even for games releasing on Steam within weeks, gives out free games to try to buy their userbase and yet still doesn’t have a cart in their store to buy multiple games at once, or took forever just to have simple things that should have been the basics of a store. Hell, they even tried to bypass an agreement with Apple just to get a bigger cut on Fortnite MT’s by not paying for the service. It is greed.

Facebook could use the fact that the Quest has on board hardware to get most of it’s Oculus Store Userbase. Not having exclusivity for games, but releasing their special versions to run well on their system, using convenience as a good platform to sell from their store. They could keep up with their advertising and marketing to persuade people to use their store as it is tailored to their systems, but they don’t, they just buy exclusivity and use that to cut out the competition in a market that is yet to even fully adopt.
I mean they even have had problems with compatibility with the store between their own systems, but was buying exclusivity rights instead.

I seriously believe that the exclusivity is not just to bring new users in, but to keep them there for fear of losing their library when the next headset decision comes around.

I know what you are basically getting at is that it is easy to ignore exclusivity when you are the default distributor, but I still see no excuse for paid exclusivity, especially for VR at all as it just harms VR more than helps. They should compete in a healthy way.

I’m not even fully against 1st party exclusivity as it should be the developers choice what platform to sell on. (Though there is a grey area with buying out third party to become first just to force exclusive rights)
So it’s not like they can’t have any unique games on their platform.

It’s just a big company trying to get money in the fastest, cheapest way possible. I don’t think they care about VR’s future beyond how much it will put in their pocket.

Распаковываем скачанные сцены, они лежат в вашей папке со стимом по пути Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\250820, если у вас нет других подписок для SteamVR, то в этой директории должно быть всего три папки, если нет — они на скриншоте ниже.

После распаковки всех файлов, вырезаете содержимое папки root и вставляете в папку выше, то есть в \steamapps\common\SteamVR\tools\steamvr_environments\game\hla

Далее, нам нужна папка \steamapps\common\SteamVR\tools\steamvr_environments\game\steamtours и файл gameinfo.gi

Открываем его, ищем блок SearchPaths и приводим его к виду ниже (добавляем Game hla)

Почти готово, осталось создать ярлык для SteamVR\tools\steamvr_environments\game\bin\win64\steamtours.exe

Мы готовы запускать сцены, может получиться не с первого раза, в крайнем случае — пересоздайте ярлык, мне помогло. Во время запуска нажмите

для запуска консоли и введите map c17_alleyway или map russells_lab

«Ну веселитесь!» так сказать..крутите мышкой и т.д

Не рекомендую. Без VR выглядит так себе, нет звука (или только у меня так было), и перемещение noclip-ом. Лучше посмотреть на YouTube.

Теперь осталось с помощью других консольных команд научиться двигать фейковые виртуальные руки XD

You get posts like that pretty much everyday in VR communities. VR is just plain amazing and naysayers really need to drop the sour grapes act. It’s really sad.

To be fair, VR isn’t for everyone (for a variety of reasons), and that’s fine.

If people try it and don’t want to use it, that’s fine. Although that only applies to like 0.0001% of people. People like the OP have clearly never even tried it.

i tried VR once randomly when i was in downtown tel aviv on a vacation to israel, it was an oculous rift and all of the games were 2d puzzle games and i quite liked it as a joke thing to try once. i cant imagine playing an fps with anything but a mouse tho. im not against using a vr headset on my head if they werent so overpriced. ut my main gripe is the controls. im never going back to controllers like when i was a child playing on the OG xbox. keyboard and mouse is where its at. dont call me sour just cuz you cant stand my taste. weeb profiles get out of my thread.

i was kind of hoping there would be a mod by now that makes the game play like hl2. i want to play the new half life but i dont want to play a VR game. its a really sad situation for me lol.

dude i live in the woods if i want realistic gunplay ill go outside and shoot some soda cans in my driveway. also can’t you realize some people might have OTHER gripes with VR? eyes glued to the screen like that cant be fun for long play sessions, not to mention you lose your periphery to the outside world. i like being able to see from the corner of my eye to let my cats in through my bedroom window. they usually hang out there on the windowsill to get let in when they know i’m on my pc. also plenty of other reasons besides my responsibility to my kitties’ wellbeing to want my peripheral vision unobstructed.

На Github опубликовали мод для Half-Life: Alyx, позволяющий играть без VR-шлема

Пользователь Github с никнеймом r57zone выложил мод, который позволяет сыграть в Half-Life: Alyx без VR-гарнитуры. Об этом пишет PC Gamer. Автор также выпустил семиминутное видео с процессом настройки и демонстрацией.

Вероятно, новый мод позволит игрокам полностью пройти Half-Life: Alyx с использованием мыши и клавиатуры. Автор также опубликовал подробное описание пересмотренных инструментов управления. Например, движение осуществляется при помощи стрелок, а не привычными WASD. Судя по видеоролику, мод работает небезупречно — система с задержкой подгружает окружение при переводе взгляда персонажа в другую сторону. Скачать его можно на Github.

Half-Life: Alyx вышла 23 марта 2020 года на PC. Проект получил крайне восторженные отзывы прессы и набрал 93 балла на Metacritic. Пользователи также тепло встретили проект — 9,1 из 10.

Плюс есть люди у которых от VR головокружение и тошнота. Часть людей даже на 3D в кино не может ходить по сходим причинам. Поэтому 99.99% 3D фильмов имеют 2D аналог

К слову очень многие фильмы собраны в стерео с ошибками, тут же на хабре есть статья об этом. Насколько я помню кроме Аватара толковых фильмов в стерео то почти и нет.

На геймдев.ру, когда HL еще не вышла — я топил за то, что игра скорее всего будет хорошей.
Ни я, ни оппоненты еще не играли в неё. Но народ топил, что VR не нужен и будет хрень.
Когда игра вышла, я поиграл и начал топить за то, что игра средненькая. И тут пришли опять же люди не игравшие и начали топить, что игра отличная!

Всегда есть кто-то, кто будет рассуждать не попробовав. В случае с VR это вдвойне актуально. т.к. различия очень серьезные, но не все могут это прочувствовать и попробовать.

Отдельно доставляет непонимание народа что такое вообще VR.
Господа, VR — это не про «надел шлем и ты в VR». VR — это комплексное погружение. Шлем — лишь доля этого всего. Важно взаимодействие с предметами. Важно перемещение. Важна возможность присесть, подпрыгнуть, походить. Чем выше иммерисвность, тем больше это VR.
Нельзя делать о VR выводы по одной(любой) игре и по одной конкретной гарнитуре(особенно если это не самая лучшая гарнитура).

As I stated in my post, first party exclusivity is not the same as Paid exclusivity.
It should be down to the developer what system to build for.
But if money changes hands to hold exclusivity to a third party game, then the game would have sold elsewhere, or why buy exclusivity at all? It is paying to keep it away from other systems.

Funding is also not the same nor inherent to exclusivity. Oculus can fund a game the same as Valve can without asking for exclusivity. This is how it should be. Just because not every game is exclusive (Which could be the developers decision rather than Oculus), does not mean those that are exclusive, are suddenly okay.
They should benefit from funding games by putting products into market to raise VR adoption, they do not need to put that at risk by hoarding the games via exclusivity deals.

The majority of exclusives on Oculus are third party developers and paid exclusivity, which is nothing like Valve.
Valve has a couple of Valve made games that are 1st party exclusives only on their store. That is all.
They even went out of their way to ensure they work on a multitude of headsets and did not stick to their own alone, unlike Oculus who keeps it to their own system.

There are zero SteamVR paid exclusives.

You assume that the oculus funded games would exist without oculus and they just paid for exclusivity but that isn’t the reality. Oculus fully funded the development and usually produced those games. There is oculus stuff directly involved in all (or at least most) of their games (executive producers are usually from oculus for example). This is not a epic games situation where they pay for exclusivity of games already made shortly before release, oculus was involved in the development of all of these games from the very beginning and had a huge influence on those games. Without oculus, those games wouldn’t exist.

Think of it like oculus being the architect to built a house but the construction worker (development studio) is actually doing the work (following the architects plan).

Games like Gears of war are made under similar conditions and nobody would call this paid exclusivity.

Valve also bought the Campo Santo developer to help develop alyx, so using former third party developers to work on a now exclusive game to their plattform isn’t something only oculus is doing. Valve made one game that also works on oculus and oculus made one+ games that even fully released on steam (medal of honor). So they are at least even here.

I already said multiple times that the issue is not oculus games only being on the oculus store but that the oculus store doesn’t nativly support other headsets. Those are 2 different things. There is still access through revive though (I’m personally using the oculus quest and virtual desktop to access the oculus store (similar to revive) and it works flawless anyway).

They can fund things without having exclusivity. They should be funding growth. There is also no evidence that those games would not exist anyway, especially with Valve offering to fund games themselves to avoid exclusivity.

They are clearly pushing exclusivity to force people to their systems. Even if bought from their store, they are so closed off with no thought for other HMD’s. They don’t even have one universal store for their own headsets and have to make transfer deals to allow people to own it on both versions of their own store.

Truth is, they are paying developers to keep games off other systems. I don’t know why you would defend that.

I’m sorry JNK, I often agree with you but this is way off the mark. It is not the same nor even in the slightest.
For one, Half Life is their own IP.

Not forgetting that Oculus DID ban ReVive originally and only changed it due to backlash, ensuring that they announced that they where not supporting it and it could break via updates.
You know, just to give you uncertainty if you own a different headset. (Not that a third party solution should even be needed)
All the while Valve gives native support to all.

2 thing wrong with your arguments here imo:

1. oculus having multiple stores is nothing special. The oculus rift/pc and oculus quest/mobile are different products. One is based on X86 architecture, the other on ARM. Both can’t just run the same games (Apple did made a very Good Emulator recently though). So 2 different stored are required, those are not the same coded games. Oculus offers crossbuy on all their first/second party games though. External developers can do whatever they want, but this is the very same for steam. On steam you have to buy the same game twice as well in some cases, for example Skyrim = Skyrim VR, Fallout 4 = fallout 4 Vr etc.)

2. it seems like you know only about first party and third Party development but there is also second part development.

1. first party development = you own the development team, pay then directly their monthly wages and develop a game. Oculus and valve are both doing that but their first party development capabilities are limited.
Industry examples: Nintendo = Zelda, Sony = God of war, valve = half life Alyx, oculus = lone echo 2

2. second party development = you work together with an external dev team, pay that dev team for a certain time of the games development (that money will then be used to pay the wages of the developer) and develop a game. Mostly oculus does this but it’s very similar to first party development with the only difference being that you are just paying the wages of the developers temporary for a certain project.
Industry examples: Xbox = gears of war, housemarque = Returnal, Oculus = Stormland

3. third party development = A game is funded and developed fully external and shortly pre release you pay some money to have this game exclusive come to your store. This is something epic games is known for.
Industry examples: Epic = Borderlands 3, Sony = final fantasy 7 remake

I see nothing wrong in a second party development game to be exclusive to your specific store. It’s very strange opinion to ONLY having first party development games exclusives to your store. Either vote for no exclusivity at all and critic valve for not releasing Alyx on the oculus rift store or don’t complain about oculus games only being on the oculus store. It’s the very same thing. If company X is making a product (even if they contract external workforce for that) it’s totally ok to only selling it on their own store and not giving other stores the extra 30% cut per sale.

Like I already said multiple times the oculus store not natively supporting other headsets was/is the true issue but scince there are very easy workarounds it isn’t a huge issue. I own a oculus product but I’m still using a external third party program to access that store (because wireless Vr) and it works perfectly fine.

Crossbuy was introduced after the separate store sections existed even with shared games. There was a moment when it was expected to repurchase the same games. I did in fact mention that they introduced the ability to do so down the line but do not understand why they still cannot make a simpler store which actually labels which games are or are not crossbuy on their storepages if discovered outside of their special category.
My friend who is an Oculus user got burned by this a few times when it was first introduced, so I know it caused issues.

Is not the same thing at all. As Alyx is a first party IP. You are getting this completely wrong.

Secondly, again, you seem to think funding = exclusivity.
It doesn’t.

There is no reason why «second» or third party games need to be exclusive to their system.
Also your idea of second party development is mostly just funding. You seem to think an exclusivity deal within funding doesn’t count as paid exclusivity which is wrong.
Money for exclusivity usually goes towards the funding, so does that make a third party deal second just because they used that exclusivity deal to pay towards the game? Because that is almost all exclusivity deals.
It does no need to happen after a game is fully funded to be classed that way.

Second party developers usually work on contracts with another developer to create that developers own or joint IP’s. (Think Game Freak and Nintendo). Not their own IP.
If someone is hired to work on your 1st party IP, I can understand keeping it to a store, as whether you wish to call it second party or not, it is still first party and can’t exist without you.
But paying another company to make one of their IP games to be on your system, basically can be covered by anyone anyway as that IP exists already and is therefore just another form of paid exclusivity.
It is also one thing hiring a studio to work for you, and another hiring (Or which has been happening more recently, acquiring) a studio just to gain exclusivity for an existing IP. Which is that grey area I mentioned earlier.
These situations could still be solved by funding them without demanding it to be on your system.

Put it this way, if a company was looking to make their game Popular Game 3, and you wanted it on your system, you can easily make an agreement to fund them to make it for your store, but that is still paying for exclusivity. Even if you say «Oh but Popular Game 3 wasn’t going to be made without us as that money went towards it».
If you hired them to instead make Overhyped Game 4 which was your own IP, then you are not paying exclusivity as only you have the rights to that game anyway.

It is really simple. It is about who owns the rights to the IP.

They could, and should be boosting VR as an industry, not segregating games between platforms dictating who can and can’t play games on their system.

This will only blow up in their faces when other stores begin to follow suit and even Oculus users will miss out on games.

I don’t know if you see nothing wrong with it because you have access to all titles without a third party work around, but I assure you, especially in the case of VR trying to build up adoption rate, exclusivity is damaging.

I don’t blame Oculus owners, I blame Oculus/Facebook.

Also Half Life Alyx is NOT the only good game in VR, it doesnt have overwhelmingly positive reviews because oh this is the only good thing we have lmao. I will say its the most polished game for VR but you dont have a body in this game, some of the physics can be iffy and some of the features and even pitfalls this game does have or at least had at launch, games like Robo Recall and Boneworks did better/avoided before it. There are plenty of great games to play in VR, the only thing you can say that is objectively true is that this is like the most AAA like game we’ve got in VR atm, a lot of VR games while amazing are more indie than this game is and i mean thats fair enough, theyre still amazing. You havent lived until you’ve played games like LoneEcho, Skyrim VR (they fixed the issues), The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners, and the loads of simulation games like MSFS in VR, theyre all amazing and have some amazing things to offer the player in terms of the experience you have while playing them, the immersion in games like Skyrim, TWD, and MSFS is off the charts. Give VR a try man, or at least dont write it off until you have tried it cause Im telling you, nothing beats shooting a TIE fighter out of the sky in SW Squadrons VR, just nothing beats that man, you feel like a badass X-Wing pilot as is your right!

Great. I’m making another long post lol.

First of all, second party is an unofficial term. So your definition is likely going to be skewed.
Really, there is no such thing as a second party. It was made up to try to distinguish between two types of third party contract deals. One that is clearly third party, and the other that behaves more like a first party due to the IP ownership.

First party developers are studios who are directly, or are owned exclusively by, the platform holders. The platform owns their own IP’s, being the platform holder and developer themselves.
First party exclusivity is when those owned IP’s are released solely on the owners platform. No exclusivity deals need to be made.

Third party developers are studios who are independent, who can release whatever they wish on a platform of their choice. They own their own IPs.
Third party exclusivity is when a platform holder pays for exclusivity of a release, so an instalment of the third parties IP can be exclusive to their platform, either timed or permanently.

Now second party is a little more complex as it has aspects of both as it is a way to describe and encompasses both first and third party situations. It is rare that this term is needed and is why you usually do not hear it.

Second party developers are studios who are contracted to work exclusively for a platform holder, but is not owned or a subsidiary of them.
This can be due to a developer who is only partially owned by a platform owner but not wholly, or due to a third party, accepting a contract.

This «usually» means that a second party developer will not release games for another platform at all. You often do not buy exclusivity of individual games in this case, you buy exclusivity of the studios releases for a set period without buying them out and contract them into what to work on. (Be it brought forward by the second party or ordered by the first party)

A second party developer usually does not own the IP rights to the games that they are asked to develop, working on the platform holders behalf as stated in their contract. They can make unique IP’s for the studio, or the platform’s existing IP’s, but rarely hand over their own. This makes them behave like a first party, but keep their independence.
If they do release their own IP to that particular platform through contract, they have either sold the IP rights to the platform holder (Making it first party), or have made a paid exclusivity deal of that IP’s release (Making it third party)).

For all intents and purposes, they are third party developers who act similarly to a first party acquisition without losing ownership to their studio or it’s IPs.

That list you sent are indeed games created by external studios, but all can be described as first party or third party.

I said it multiple times now, but what matters is who owns the IP. If the platform owner owns the IP it is first party, if an external developer owns the IP it is third party.
There really is no inbetween.

You have continually used a vague term to try to push paid exclusivity closer to first party, but it is dishonest. Paid exclusivity is paid exclusivity. It is spending money to keep games off of rival platforms.

As for headsets, ReVive is not an easy work around. Oculus should at the very least incorporate other headsets into their store. You agree to that.
Revive existing does not forgive their inability to do it themselves. Are we supposed to be proud they reverted on a block for a third party solution? That’s barely the minimum they can do.

Да мне кажется пройдет какое-то время и Valve сами анонсируют Half Life Alyx для монитора, игру заточенную под мышку с клавиатурой. Просто у них такой маркетинговый ход: сначала выпустим игру для VR, а через. ну максимум год, выпустят и для нас нищебродов клавомышек. Я сам не против был бы купить VR, но с нашей убогой экономикой в стране. нет, спасибо! Да и брать ее из-за одной лишь игры, я думаю оно того не стоит. Re7 это обычная игра, которой прикрутили вр. Alyx это игра которая создавалась специально для вр, с учетом особенностей управления вр, неужели такие элементарные вещи недоступны здешним экспертам.

Если и сделают, то не скоро. Надо будет кучу механик переделывать, баланс править. Я думаю что Valve сами это сделают, возможно не в этом году, слишком уж концовка важна для возможной третьей части.

Вполне подходит, ибо даже так мозг воспринимает такую реальность вполне реалистичной. Например, если человек в реале боится высоты, то ему в VR игре тоже будет не по себе на больших высотах. А в том же RE7 некоторых людей тошнило при первом появление кишок с кровищем на экране. Вроде люди понимают, что всё это не настоящее, но мозг человека картину видит иначе. Я бы не сказал, что VR нынче для избранных. Стоимость бюджетных VR очков, поддерживаемых HL Alyx, колеблется в районе 30-70 тысяч рублей. То бишь цена не выше топовых и предтоповых видео карт. Ну а дороговато это всё может показаться лишь по одной причине. Других VR игр уровня HL Alyx сейчас нет. Все остальные игры проще. Поэтому дороговато покупать VR ради одной игры. Но с другой стороны. Раз уж HL Alyx игрокам зашла, игра имеет ошеломительный успех, значит в будущем топовых VR игр станет больше. Рано или поздно всем придётся купить VR. Ну а когда игр станет много, то и цены упадут ещё ниже. Хотя и сейчас цены упали неплохо, учитывая тот факт, что раньше за VR ты отдал бы минимум 150-200 тысяч, а сегодня можно ограничиться в районе 30-70 тысяч, в зависимости от уровня выбранной VR гарнитуры.

Моддер r57zone первым выпустил драйвер, позволяющий пройти Half-Life: Alyx без использования SteamVR. С некоторыми ограничениями, конечно.

«Таким методом можно полностью пройти игру и попробовать VR механики. Некоторые моменты заставят вас попотеть, но и они проходимы данным способом».

Подробная инструкция по установке есть на Youtube. В частности, нужно откалибровать SteamVR для маленькой комнаты, а также запустить игру с рядом параметров командной строки. Для активации мода нужно нажать клавишу F7.

Конечно, многие моменты, сильно заточенные под VR, таким способом пройти проблематично. Самые большие сложности возникнут при открытии бункера в седьмой главе. При желании можно скачать сохранения после каждого из таких моментов.

Также мод позволяет стримить игру в 3D через смартфон.

Тоже может быть не очень — стример то видит гораздо больше, чем попадает в экран, из-за чего могут теряться многие детали. Он может что-то делать руками на грани своего поля зрения, а зрителю это вообще будет не видно. Плюс верчение бошкой в ВР для зрителя выглядит очень хреново — многое упускается из виду и постоянная тряска изображения — такое-себе развлечение)

я вижу вариант прохождения только путём выбора наиболее интересного стримера и у него просмотреть

Half-Life: Alyx New Mod Allows Game to Be Played Without VR Headset

It didn’t take very long. In just five days, Half-Life: Alyx has become playable without a VR headset and with mouse and keyboard controls.

The first Half-Life: Alyx is still very rough around the edges, as it uses Half-Life 2 models for weapons and jumping doesn’t work properly. Still, this is a great way for those without a VR headset to enjoy the first entry in the series in a very long time.

For the mod to work, players will have to install these files and follow the instructions shared by Icedwhisper in a video that you can find below.

Please make sure you add them AFTER the quotation marks!

There are some limitations to this, such as not being able to see the hands, which can be fixed by using the command: vr_enable_fake_vr_test 1

But by using this command, collisions get turned off and you are unable to walk on the floor.

You can also enable weapons by using the following command: impulse 101

I’m going to try and find ways to fix all these issues, until then, you’re going to have to play like this! p.s: Some objects can’t be interacted using this method, I’m trying to fix it and will post a video soon after I find a way to do it!

The release of a no VR Half-Life: Alyx mod was something that Valve anticipated. According to designer Robin Walker, no VR mods will make players understand why they made a VR game.

The answer to this diverges significantly depending on which members of the team you talk to, so this answer is definitely just from me. There are a set of people on the team that are concerned about that. Personally, I’m not concerned about it at all. It will clearly demonstrate to people why we did Half-Life: Alyx in VR. It will be a very crisp way of seeing all the stuff we got for the move into VR. If people play a modded version on a standard display and say this is is just as good, that will teach me a lot. I will realize I’m wrong, and we didn’t get as much as we thought, and I love to know whenever I’m wrong.

Just amuses me the strategy these trolls deploy:

1.
Make up some standards or goals and make out that the developers or fans were aiming for these

2.
State these were not achieved and claim they therefore failed

3.
Claim that your target platform/game/developer is therefore a failure and is going nowhere despite all the obvious evidence to the contrary

4.
The funniest and most disingenuous of them all, then go on to claim that you feel bad for people who believed all the stuff you just made up, because it didn’t work out

All you actually achieve is the assassination of your own supposed good character and humiliation of yourself publicly.

It really is the strangest of pastimes and beyond the comprehension of most rational people.

This coming from the person who was trolling people for playing on “pancakes”. Suggesting anyone who didn’t buy VR was broke. You have a hard time accepting that not everyone who owns VR is excited about it or impressed with Half Life: Alyx. You made this too personal.

Enough time has gone by to suggest this isn’t the direction fans want.

I have stated publicly in these forums previously that I have a lot of sympathy for previous HL fans who would dearly like to play more games in the HL franchise. Would be painfully boring. The virtual reality mechanics are what make this game fun. Pushing bottles and cans out of the way to grab ammo and manually reloading the gun are mundane activities in a typical shooter game that are exciting in VR.

People that haven’t tried VR just don’t understand

yeah i think it’s their problem, their brain don’t seems to be able to understand that

I’m glad this is happening because it will suck in non VR and all the salty snowflakes will spend £50 to play an absolutely terrible non VR version of the game lmao

so they will be crying all day now because they don’t have VR and in a few weeks they will all be back crying because the game sucks and they are £50 down, I can’t wait.

I don’t want it to be bad, I just believe it will be.

I mean even with the mechanics changed, how would people propose you make the most out of the environmental design and game pacing being aimed towards VR without VR itself?

Surely you will just speed through this game in half the time and miss out on the tension. You know, like a poorly designed Half life 2 but with better graphics. It goes beyond technical limitation and more into design?

Unless they redesign the game, but by then, it won’t be Alyx anymore.

Maybe they could hybrid it. Slow the player down to a crawl, keep the same weapons types and make a resi style aiming system where accuracy is lost if moving. Might save a little bit of the tension.

Half-Life: Alyx на GearVR и без VR

Но без VR гарнитуры игру, очевидно, не запустить. Даже ради такого ожидаемого проекта приобретение дефицитной нынче VR аппаратуры оправдано не для всех. Авторы сознательно ограничили возможность запуска, чтобы только игроки с виар гарнитурой по достоинству оценили их разработку. Без этого эффекта игра сильно теряет свой шарм. Однако многим все равно хочется попробовать, хотя бы для оценки того, насколько эффект погружения в виртуальную реальность значителен.

В таком режиме удалось не без удовольствия прогуляться по начальной локации HL:A. Эффект глубины пространства вкупе с объемным звуком создали отличные ощущения, почти не уступающие полноценной VR гарнитуре. Слегка более выразительная москитная сетка перед глазами быстро перестала отвлекать, а сниженное до 60гц обновление экрана и вовсе не было проблемой, как и незначительная задержка (около 80мс). Однако отчаянно хотелось потрогать окружение и хотя бы дотянуться до кнопки, необходимой для продвижения в игре.

И тут я погрузился в пучину С++ кода, где и провёл всю неделю, терзая саргасовы путы логики программы и ища ответы в мутных водах документации, не соответствующей местами реальности. Удалось пересобрать программу ALVR с вычислением линейной скорости по измененному положению контроллера и передачей этих данных в структуру OpenVR. И, о чудо! Именно данные о линейной скорости и были необходимы. Жест заработал легко и интуитивно. Удалось даже схватывать объект на лету с первой попытки. Более того, это вернуло в игру возможность бросать объекты с сохранением импульса. Я добавил заодно вычисление угловой скорости используя навыки работы с кватернионами, и это открыло возможность бросать объекты с кручением.

Но можно ли вовсе отказаться от очков, если заставить драйвер отправлять фейковые показания игре? Для удобства тестирования управления хотя бы. Конечно! Тут меня ждало несколько подводных камней в коде ALVR которые больно ударили загадочными проблемами, похожими на race-condition при инициализации классов для виртуальных устройств, но методом пристального всматривания в код удалось изобрести необходимые изменения в порядке вызовов.

Теперь при запуске ALVR сразу инициализирует HMD и контроллер, и начинает получать данные через FreePIE, давая возможность управлять персонажем. А при подключении реального GearVR передача данных пополняется поступившими сетевыми пакетами.

Но играть в Alyx с клавиатуры и мыши без VR не очень интересно, что ожидаемо. Мешает и специфическое управление, и крайне узкий угол обзора в режиме наблюдателя, что вынуждает вращать камеру будто осматриваешь мир через трубу. Пока никакой консольной команды для изменения угла обзора не нашлось. Можно только поискать и изменить в памяти игры матрицу проекции камеры, но на этом этапе я удовлетворен экспериментом и оставлю столь изощренные поиски возможных припарок для улучшения качества жизни виар-инвалидов на будущее.

Подобную эмуляцию можно задействовать и в любых других виар приложениях, если это будет иметь смысл.

В этом уверен Робин Уолкер — один из действующих сотрудников Valve, когда-то создавший первую версию Team Fortress на движке Quake.

Правда, он уточнил, что это исключительно его мнение. Некоторые члены команды обеспокоены тем, что после выхода такого мода игроки могут разочароваться в Alyx, потому что игра создана для прохождения только в VR. Но Робина это совершенно не волнует.

При чем тут физические импульсы, лол, что за чушь ты несешь? Дело в визуальном восприятии. Ни один монитор не может реализовать ту степень погружения, которую сейчас обеспечивают VR. Если бы ты хоть раз попробовал его в нормальной игре, а не в каком-то дешевом мусоре, ты бы понял о чем речь и такой ахинее не писал.

Ну они писали ранее (Valve), что каждая часть Half-Life была чем-то инновационным и именно это стало причиной отмены разработки новой части именно в VR — чтобы привести в серию что-то новое, дающее уникальный экспириенс.

Да и популяризировать VR-шлемы хотят. Надо же аудиторию увеличивать, будет больше игроков с такими шлемами, будет больше спрос, как следствие будет увеличиваться количество хороших VR-тайтлов.

А по-теме — перенести Аликс в обычный формат более чем реально — там нет ничего такого, что нельзя было-бы реализовать через обычное “нажми Е а персонаж сам все сделает”. Да, естественно не будет такого погружения, как в ВР, но никто вроде не страдал играя в ХЛ2, где интерактивность с предметами так-же присутствует, просто в стандартном виде.

Вот скорее всего так и сделают, только это будет тотальная переделка игры, ведь движка Source 2 нет в открытом доступе? (или есть, поправьте) Так что будет на каком-нибудь Unity/UE.

Самый новый последний Окулюс стоит 400 баксов. Совсем недавно полный комплект можно было взять прям с доставкой через пару часов за 39. Если заказывать за границей то вообще в районе 30. При этом максимально качественный VR за такие-же небольшие деньги как с телефона.

Вальвы обещали выкатить редактор вместе с Аликс.

Если шлем vr не обладает тактильной отдачей на голову, то фраза “ монитор никогда не передаст вам ощущения прыгающего на голову хэдкраба или неприятную субстанцию, стекающую на вас” является откровенным введением заблуждение, для привлечения к покупке — не более.

That said there are options:

— The most complete I know about is this one: https://github.com/r57zone/Half-Life-Alyx-novr which works by emulating the motion controller input (see videos on that page for caveats).

— There’s another somewhere (sorry no idea of link) that is more like a traditional FPS, but uses console commands to straight up skip whole sections of the game that aren’t translatable.

If you really just want the story and you don’t want/can’t play in VR I’d mostly recommend just watching a playthrough on twitch/youtube etc

Чтобы запустить Half-Life: Alyx без VR шлема, загрузите Steam VR, а после скачайте главы Half-Life: Alyx из Steam Workshop:

Half-Life: Alyx — City 17 Alleyway;

Asset Pack — Half-Life: Alyx;

Half-Life: Alyx — Russell.

Чтобы открыть главы, загрузите программу GCFScape. Затем запустите ее и перейдите по следующему пути: «Steam, далее steamapps, потом workshop и content250820». Там вы найдёте три папки: «2006662466», «2006656803», «2006661698». Загляните в каждую и отыщите файлы «vpk» – они скоро понадобятся.

Теперь нужно создать папку: «steamapps-common-SteamVR-tools, далее steamvr, потом environments и game-hla».

После этого поочерёдно скопируйте «vpk» файлы и вставьте в только что созданную папку. Далее нужно найти файл gameinfo.gi по пути: «steamapps-common-SteamVR-tools-steamvr, потом environments, далее game и steamtours».

Выделите файл, кликните на него ПКМ и выберите открыть с помощью блокнота. Далее нужно найти блок SearchPaths и вставить туда этот код:

Выделите ярлык и нажмите Enter. Потом вызовите консоль разработчика при помощи тильды вставьте – map c17_alleyway или map russells_lab. Теперь можете насладиться игрой в Half-Life: Alyx без шлема.

skyrim, hl:a and pavlov(sort of) are the only games there that i would consider playing. lolz

You are too closed-minded. I’m not typically the type of person to like arcades for example, but Space Pirate Trainer was surprisingly exciting when I put on my Valve Index & started playing. It’s not rated «overwhelmingly positive» in the Steam reviews for nothing. Ditto for many of the others like Beat Saber.

People have preconceived notions that they will only enjoy certain types of games (in my case, story-driven RPGs like Mass Effect or Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic), but they come out of their first VR experiences pleasantly surprised & excited.

Games you think you will like often aren’t as fun as games you didn’t think you’ll like. Everything is a new experience in VR because of the new gameplay mechanics which make something as simple as an arcade like Space Pirate Trainer a completely different gameplay experience compared with a similar-looking arcade game on a flatscreen..

Most people seem to agree with me as evident by the great reviews for those games I listed. So there are plenty of games there to justify getting a VR headset for most people. And that’s also evident by the Valve Index being the #2 top seller on the Steam store right now.

Your comment doesn’t even really make sense either, because you say you would like Pavlov but there are other FPS games on that list like Contractors that are very similar that you claim you wouldn’t like. Ditto for the RPGs. you say you’d like Skyrim VR, but not the many other RPGs on that list like Asgard’s Wrath, The Wizards, the Wizard’s Dark Times, etc.
