Here are the requirements to Unlock the Safi’Jiiva Siege Quest:
1. Reach MR24+ and unlock the Guiding Lands.
2. Complete special assignments «Reveal Thyself, Destroyer» and «Across the Lost Path» to unlock volcanic and hoarfrost region in the Guiding Lands.
3. Complete «Point of No Return» in . Recon assignment from Pub Lass in the Gathering Hub.

Once you completed these steps «The Red Dragon» quest will apear in the Gathering Hub.

Begin the siege alone if you are comfortable enough or want to take a challenge ೭(❛▿❛)೨

Don’t have friend to play with? (☍﹏⁰) Do the following:
Go to Quest Board/Handler > Online Session > Search for an Online Session > Filter Search > Set Quest Preference to Safi’Jiiva > Confirm

Before start, take attention to the Secluded Valley Energy. This energy are shared among all of the present party members in the Gathering Hub. The more people, the lower the energy levels become, the easier the fight will be!

Note: Four groups of four hunters in the same Gathering Hub session will essentially be attacking the same instance of Safi’Jiiva. However, you do not need 16 players in order to complete the siege.

Do Not get discouraged if you fail or Safi’Jiiva left the area in your first hunt as the hunt will continue for the second time and the depleted energy will be carried over giving a chance for hunter to slay Safi’Jiiva

Partbreaker skills can be very usefull as you required to destroy all possible parts. Party with members lacking in Partbreaker skill are tend to take a lot of time and eventually fail to break Safi’Jiiva’s body parts.
► Safi’Jiiva’s roar can be i-framed by rolling right before Safi thrust his head.
► Safi’Jiiva’s head can be destroyed twice.
► Safi’s part can be tenderized by just a single clutch claw attack with any weapon.
► It’s encouraged to bring Lifepowder or Dust of Life to help your teammate.
► Use Flashpods when your teammate in pinch. Some player forgetting the existence of flashpods so I put this on the list as a remainder.
► Bring a Smoke Bomb, why? Read the next section. ( •⌄• )

Ruiner Negigante’s weapon is a good starting choice as it has high elderseal which can drain more energy from Safi’Jiiva which eventually forcing him to absorb energy from a level sooner.

Note: If the dragon attuned weapon imbued with stronger Elderseal, its effectiveness will increase to 3 star.

► This area has 3 environmental traps consisting of 2 boulders in the North East and North West area and a vine trap in the South area of the map. Flinch him on the top of the vines to trap him down.

▸ Please DO NOT stand under the boulder or on the top of the vine waiting to lure the Safi’Jiiva into the trap. Safi will utilize his beam attack instead of getting closer to the hunter who’s waiting for him.

▸ Instead, attack him until he flinches as he will get knockback pretty far away. The direction of the knockback is respective to the position of the hunter and the body part that the hunter attacked to flinch him. Meaning, if you flinch him by attacking his head, he will knockback backward.

▸ If the hunter used one of the traps, the Safi’Jiiva will suffer from a huge damage loss, hence, he will immediately go to the center of the map to gain energy from this level. Anticipate and use this opportunity to clutch claw and weaken his body parts!

After the energy from this level drained, Safi’Jiiva will move to the next area.

► Your best friend is waiting in this area! Boulders! Use the boulders to block all of Safi’s beam attack and to avoid his «Sapphire of the Emperor» ultimate attack! These boulder are INDESTRUCTIBLE in level 2.

► Similar to Behemoth’s agro mechanic, from this area Safi’Jiiva are able to focus on a single hunter. This ire can be triggered to those who deal the most damage or hunter who flinch shot him on his head. The red line indicates which hunter is being targeted.
▸ Safi’Jiiva’s ire can be redirected to another hunter by flinch shot him on his head. If a non-tank or non-shield user being targeted, the tanker should seize his attention! If there’s no tanker, read through the guide. ( >⌄• )
▸ Safi’Jiiva’s ire can be erased using Smoke Bomb or Farcaster (Obviously). Remember that you can’t erase his ire by flashing or mounting him!

▸ For those who being targeted should lure Safi to the ledge for aerial attack and mount him.
▸ Whether a tank or non-tanker who gain the Safi’s ire, they should NOT wondering around, running towards his tail or his hind legs! Your job is to prevent Saji’s body from rotating so your teammate could focus on one body part especially the tail!
▸ The longer his ire active, the more energy Safi’Jiiva will use! If the targeted hunter fails to continue attracting Safi’jiiva’s attention, Safi’jiiva will become more aggressive and use AoE attack more frequently.
▸ The tanker should deal enough amount of damage to maintain his ire.
▸ A non-shield tanker can be bitten easier than those who has the shield by Safi to one-shot them if the tanker has a certain distance from Safi’s head. From my testing, if you are not close enough (at least in melee range), it will be more likely Safi will bite and one-shot you! (Comment below if this statement is misleading) and you will end up like this idiotic man. ༼ ಠ ͟ʖ ಠ ༽
▸ If your teammate bitten, use your Lifepowder or Dust of Life after your teammate knocked down and on his last breath burning to death, showed in the last screenshot above. (•́⌄•́๑)૭✧

► You can use flashpods to prevent him from using his «Sapphire of the Emperor» attack. Make sure to flash him right after he jump into the air! This apply when Safi is in the bottom level too.

► Lastly, hide behind the boulder to avoid «Sapphire of the Emperor» ultimate attack.

Again, after the energy from this level drained, Safi’Jiiva will descend to Level 3.

► Safi’Jiiva can enter Super Critical State which indicated by his glowing body. During this state all of his body will become a weak point, use this opportunity to BREAK his CHEST!

► In this area, boulders can be destroyed (•́ ︿ •̀ ) after Safi’Jiiva using his ultimate attack.
▸ Destroyed boulders can be restored after Safi’Jiiva uses his breath to hit the ceiling, this will drop some boulders and can knock your butt out! So watch out!
▸ It’s better TO NOT crowd control Safi (Mount, Paralyse, Stun, Sleep) after the boulders get destroyed as there’s a possibility for Safi to skip his breath attack preventing him to drop the boulders and proceed to annihilate the team by using his second «Sapphire of the Emperor».

► After he used his first ultimate attack in this area, the gas will start to seep out from the ground. These gases located in north, west, and south which can be ignited (Just hit the ground with your weapon) to deal 1000+ damage each! Hunter who took the ire should take Safi to these gases.
DO NOT ignite the gas arbitrarily for maximum knockdown! Make sure the Safi is not in the middle of any animation (While attacking) before igniting the gas. If the gas ignited during the animation, Safi will just flinch not knock down!

▸ If you want a certain body parts, you must destroy a correspond body part! You want Safi’jiiva Hardhorn? Break his head!
► Dracolite to awaken your Safi’s weapon
► Safi’Jiiva’s weapon
▸ Unlike Kulve’s weapon reward, Safi’s weapon is limited up to 6 weapon choice depending on your reward level.
▸ The weapon type reward will be guaranteed of one of your equipped weapon upon reporting back to Pub Lass. If you want to get Safi’s LBG but your main is IG, you can slay Safi using your IG but just switch to LBG right before you report back to Pub Lass.

The higher Reward Level you get, the more Safi’s weapon and dracolite you could get!

Reward Level will be maxed out at Level 17. Level up by completing the action or breaking Safi’s part.

Introduction

Safi weapon raw data first, no “meta” or “best wep” stuff. It focuses on Element and Raw attack modifiers. Bowgun lists and special weapon augments are not covered.

I’ve been irritated with early 2020 documentation of Safi’s weapons. Yes, Honey Hunter’s buildmaker has all of these weapons and awakened abilities accurately documented, but if someone looks up “safi jiva weapon list” it does not exist anywhere at top search results, or is buried behind inside a long video, and that video may not detail the weapon you want, OR… it’s one of only 9 weapons listed as best long sword build Safi Jiva… That’s not informational or easy to digest if you want to collect and determine your own meta for weapons.

Weapon Ability Totals Comments

Last bit of augment info- I won’t be covering special augments for each weapon class. I’d be here too long. These are just for value increases for raw and element.

You can only have 1 slot awakened ability, and getting it to level IV counts as if it were 1 level VI boost.

Sharpness V allows you to reach purple sharpness with handicraft +4. Going further potentially wastes other potential, but having 1 other level V gives 10 hits of natural purple.

Here is a legend in case something may be misunderstood (I’m assuming you know weapon nicknames):

Each base status is there, however status buffs aren’t covered due to the nature of how status is calculated. I placed two sets of it to the side for blast augment for gunlance and bow, but these numbers are so low that they do not compare to what else you could be possibly using. It only looks viable for gunlance status if you want to inflict your status a bit easier on pokes.

At the bottom of the list, I have a comparison chart for percent increases with different conditions for raw only.

The first can be pretty irrelevant, since I was just seeing how attack buffs percent increase compared to purple sharpness increase (which successively gets lower with each attack V you add, as attack is additive, not multiplicative).

Second, I show some no buff math to conclude that going for purple sharpness can lead to more damage for ultra high raw sets, but has heavy drawbacks if you can’t keep it.

I do not have the math for it, but super element may benefit from purple, but this might only be relevant for dual blades using a polisher jewel. Purple sharpness does give about a 10% boost compared to white for element.

Safi’Jiiva is a limited time Elder Dragon that can be hunted through the ‘The Red Dragon’ quest. Each points in this guide are important and could help you to improve your performance through out the siege. It’s brand new and some people are missing some understanding of the siege and hence.

How to Unlock ‘The Red Dragon’ Quest

Capcom finally released the mature form of Xeno’Jiva in Monster Hunter World which the community has taken to calling Safi’Jiva. The encounter with Safi’Jiva originally started a few weeks back as a recon mission but with the latest game update, the full Monster Hunter World Safi’Jiva Siege is also available to play.

Those familiar with the Kulve Taroth Siege earlier in the game will know the Safi’Jiva siege is going to be a very tough fight, but you will see the rewards that you get from defeating Safi’Jiva are worth the effort as you can craft some of the best and unique sets of armors and weapons.

The Safi’Jiva Siege in MHW is a limited-time event and in the guide below we will show you how to complete it.

Monster Hunter World Safi’Jiva Siege

Safi’Jiva Siege started on Dec 13 and will keep on running till four weeks. You can begin it by speaking to the Captain when he has a purple question mark over his head. Now, if you miss this event which is quite a difficult scenario, but still if you do miss it there is nothing to worry about as the developers have mentioned the event will return at a later date.

Safi’Jiva Siege Recon
First, complete the Master Rank 24 special assignment and you will unlock the Tundra region of Guiding lands and Stygian Zinogre as well as Practice quest. This new practice quest will be available from the clerk on Lunar Terrace. From there you have to select ‘Recon’ or ‘Safi’Jiva Recon’ and this practice quest will start.

This will be a mature version of the Xeno’Jiva that you have already faced, it will be a huge dragon and will stand on all four legs while also swiping, tackling and shooting beams of energy from its mouth.

It will also create cracks in the earth by slamming its tail and claws on the ground, so keep an eye for those cracks as they will explode after a while and can give large amount of damage.

Unlike Xeno’Jive though, you can mount the dragon, which means that Insect Glaives is a great choice for avoiding the ground attacks. You can get 100 siege points for your whole party by breaking its back spikes so it also favors the Insect Glaive selection.

After dealing enough damage to Safi’Jiva it will just heal itself by absorbing energy from the ground and will go to the new floors as well after eating too much. Don’t worry as it just means your fight I going through phases and you are progressing.

The layout is quite simple and unlike the Xeno’Jiva fight, this time the transfer will not be automatic and you will have to follow it down the lower sections by manually attaching to a wingdrake at the edge of the arena.

This huge monster will sometimes also focus its attacks on specific players and you will get the on-screen text log on the right of screen to tell who is the target of the monster. Safi’Jiva will also target the player with the red laser line. So the players who are using shielded weapons will draw more attention.

Keep an eye for an instant multi-directional energy beam as it can kill any player who is not behind those big black boulders, it is just like that ecliptic meteor.

The location of boulders will be fixed and you will see the blue energy spilling off from your character which is quite handy to indicate when and where the blast is coming to.

In the practice match, Safi’Jiva will leave after firing this attack but in the real siege, the monster will fire this attack multiple times and will also be able to destroy those rock at the third level and you will have to be very quick with your movements to get to the safe spots.

Siege Tactics and Weaknesses
Safi’Jiva is a unique monster and that makes its weaknesses quite unique as well. It has a two-star weakness to all the elements in the game. But it does get some effects from Elderseal. All fire, thunder or dragon damage will do the same effect but the muting property of dragon damage will have some heavy effects.

Safi’Jiva is also very susceptible to Poison damage just like Xeno’JIva and it takes almost 100 tick points of damage per poison tick. Blast damage has three-star damage while Sleep has one-star damage.

You can knock the big boulders onto the head of the creature, as the monster reels back a very large distance when you flinch it so just focus of getting it below the convenient stalactites and then use the slinger ammo.

Safi’Jiva also has a supercritical form that will come at the end of third phase. It is just like when Kulve Taroth removes its outside plating and become fully enraged in first MHW siege. It is also similar to Xeno’Jiva in its raged state.

In supercritical, its attacks can give maximum critical damage but also its chest become a weak point so keep an eye on that. Use this chest opening and attack with piercing ammo and dragon piercer to the chest and deal loads of damage.

Safi’Jiva head is susceptible to blunt attacks and cutting attacks while not very weak towards piercing attacks. Its wings are weak to piercing attacks and not very weak towards cutting attacks.

Keep in mind that even if you have all the right weapons, you need to continuously soften the beast by Clutch Claw attacks as its hide is very tough and it will reduce your damage and it also regrows every time Safi’JIva absorbs energy. Your attacks will have much more damage when its weakened.

You will be able to use aggro system and flinching to be able to drag Safi’Jiva into the gas pockets in the third phase.

You will be notified by the support NPC when these gas geysers are available. First, bait Safi’Jiva to hover over the gas geyser and just attack inside the geyser to ignite it. This will give you 1000 damage which is a healthy amount at the final phase.

Transforming Armor
This new Safi’Jiva armor comes with totally unique set bonus. It has some new unique armors and this Transforming armor changes state when you draw your weapon which indicates that you have activated the power.

You will get the bonus affinity in this state but your character will also take damage whenever they attack.

Siege Awakened Weapons
This is a quite new concept in MHW and you can think of them as randomized drops from Kulve Taroth in the previous siege.

They are like that but there are obviously different and better perks which they can be upgraded with. We have a special guide on awakened weapons from where you can get all the information about this new special concept of the MHW.

The Safi Jiva setup coming in two days may not be purely meta, but offers an insanely interesting playstyle that changes in risk factor based on how you play.

-3 setpieces of Safi jiva’s armor is 20% affinity and +80 element/status
-5 is 40% affinity and +150 element (120 status I believe? it isn’t quite as high)

However, the biggest factor of Safi jiva seal setups is that you lose health every time you attack. You regenerate this health after achieving a set number of hits depending on your weapon. Health loss is the same between both sets, and the amount of health you lose varies between weapons. However, you will always get a regeneration proc after receiving about 40 HP of self damage on each weapon.

Starting with most hits needed to proc- (multi hits do not count towards the total, hitting TWO or more targets at once DOES count to the total [without making you lose more health])

What weapon will benefit most from Safi Jiva sets?
-If you go mostly full raw, Dual Blades and Bows can highly benefit by receiving a 50% boost in stamina (both sustained and 50% cut from dodging). This boost will come after dealing 180 self damage to yourself. I did make a critical element bow set below, yes True Critical Element can theoretically go higher with pure element (Sᴜᴘᴇʀ Kᴀᴍɪ Gᴜʀᴜ: Bᴜᴛ Sɪʟᴠᴇʀ Rᴀᴛʜ’s sᴇᴛs sʟᴏᴛs SUUUUUUUUCK) It’s still debatable that latent power’s boost could still overcome in viability compared to pure element. For non-stamina heavy sets, latent power will give you more stamina to evade too, allowing you to dodge more often. It will also benefit you with guarding.

Does Resentment work with Health Regen augments?
-Yes and no. Health loss happens the moment you SWING/FIRE your weapon. Meaning, ranged will theoretically ALWAYS calculates resentment if you aren’t shooting the monster point blank. Bows can use this to keep their health above dangerous levels while sacrificing very little power. Large sweeping attacks may still receive resentment if it lags after the initial swing.
You will NOT receive resentment bonuses if the swing and the connection happen at the exact same frame.

Doesn’t health loss make it easier for me to die to playing bad?
-Yes. If you use the set poorly, you can fall into 1 shot range and die almost instantly from getting greedy. Using the wrong attacks can also get you killed by self damage if you don’t observe your health.

Does the health regeneration always restore health I lost?
-Yes, well within the amount you lost. the regeneration proc acts like a mega potion, restoring about 65 HP. It can be boosted by geming in medicine jewels Any form of sheathing resets your proc counter!

Is the Safi-jiva setup for me?
-It depends on if you want to play with the risk reward playstyle with the possibility of inching marginally past current meta sets while holding a ton of comfort skills on hand. If you want to feel as if you are playing with your health as a damage resource, you will love these setups.

Here’s a list of builds that I dabbled with that you can modify based off of. These are assuming some high tier decos, so you may not be able to get the same level of stuff I mention. All of this was made using Honey Hunter’s MHW set builder.

[All of these setups do not use Masters touch, but mitigate with use of Polisher jewels and 1 point into grinder, each set features practically 100% affinity when they ramp up]

Pure Safi set- 5 pieces of safi always end up having slightly more element, but you lose skill flexibility. Only use this with setups that don’t need special skills

safi’jiiva recon is nothing more than a taste of the battle to come. the ONLY rewards it drops are standard consumable items: potions, bombs, etc.

you HAVE to do the recon to be able to do the actual quest itself. but you ONLY have to do it once.

you do not get dracolite from the recon. only from the siege event. the recon is merely a taste of it. just like the behemoth recon.

I don’t get why you’d wanna go to the GL, because after every completion of the main siege, you get 2 reward boxes back at the gathering hall. One for the weapons, one for Dracolite only. If you can mine Dracolite, it’s probably not as easy as running the full siege multiple times, which can give a lot, and excess junk weapons can be converted into Dracolite.

pretty sure you can’t get dracolite for Safi stuff in GL. I said to the GL because of content’s sake. I gotta farm up stuff in the guiding lands for augments eventually.

I got a dracolite from the first recon/fight, what’s it for?

It’s a material you’ll need for when Safi’jiiva Siege goes live in its fullest. Basically when you finish the siege, you’ll get straight up BiS weapons to choose from (with a pleasantly minimal amount of RNG). These weapons are godlike because you can add up to five «Awakened Abilities» to them of increasingly high ranks/qualities. One of those abilities being a 6th Set Bonus piece.

Anyway, the way to get and upgrade these Awakened Abilities is by spending your Dracolite fragments on these Safi’jiiva weapons the same way you spend Armor Spheres on your armor to upgrade it.

A main difference, however, is that every time you fill up the weapon’s Awakening meter with Dracolite, you’re given 3 random abilities to choose from. If you don’t like any of them, however, you can «Store Potential» instead, increasing the chance for higher quality/rank abilities the NEXT time you roll, stacking (endlessly?) until you finally lock in an ability.

Trust me, it’s a lot less complicated than I’m making it sound. It’s really quite intuitive, and you’ll understand it when the event actually rolls around. You’ll be swimming in lv25/26 Awakened Safi weapons in no time. 🙂

Replace Safi’jiiva Siege quest with a version for solo player:

Changes:
-Monster’s Health is divided by about 2.55 (this is usually by how much solo monsters’ hp get scaled up for their 3-4 players versions).
Timer is increased up to 50 minutes
-Part’s Health is reduced (might be too low but it should allow for the player to break everything)
-Status and stuns resistance is lowered (except to mount)
-This quest is limited to one player

Attack, defense and quest reward stay the same.

With Safi’Jiva around the corner about to turn everything on its head, I thought I might pontificate a bit about how this will affect the community at large.

What the armor set does:

The set will provide a massive DPS buff with the caveat that every swing, hit or miss, will damage the player. The upside is after a number of successful hits players will heal for more damage than they would take if every swing hits. This set will have interesting synergy with the previously useless skills ‘latent power’ and ‘resentment’, making for some very interesting builds. However, these builds will be incompatible with health regen augment as it will interfere with the ‘resentment’ skill.

1) Wannabe speedrunners, who lack the necessary skill (important detail), will try to use the set and fail a lot of SoS hunts.

2) There will be drama between wannabe speedrunners and support players. Support players will end up using more potions then they want to, and the wannabe speedrunners will be annoyed by their resentment buff being constantly ruined. What was once disdain for support players will turn to hate and animosity between the two groups, so grab some popcorn ^_^

3) After a couple weeks the set will be mostly abandoned on account of being impractical for most players, except maybe in the grinding lands where failure doesn’t really matter.

i’m gonna say yes and no Safi»Jiiva is solo-able but not in a sense that you would solo farm him for his gear/weapon

you can keep trying but it’s not very efficient

there’s video of soloing him on youtube and few thing in common is they using either LBG/HBG

and it’s a Safi armor and weapon that means to solo safi you need to slay him enough time to get his gear

and purpose of solo safi isn’t for farming but more like for flexing

aside from specific set of gear/weapon they also running very advanced strategy for soloing him and player need to be skilled enough with to do so they don’t screw up

he’s similar to behemoth in a sense that they are very difficult but safi has a ton of aoe attack you need to watch out,constant dps check so he doesn’t leave area and time limit of 20 minutes

but honestly if you’re on pc and you don’t really care either just installed mod that make him scale hp to 1 player or straight up shop mod and buy everything

but if you’re not looking to cheat well good luck

despite it looks safi is very complex monster with a lot of mechanics that not really visible on screen (which i’m not gonna go into look up reddit thread safi jiiva datamining if you’re interested)

Level 1 is enough for ground attacks.

For anyone that wants to do aerial attacks like ig, only the last hit activates regen augment. No amount will prevent the armor from eating your hp while in the air.

Can you explain why?

extra ranks of health augment do so little it’s not worth the slots.
but for Safi armor as long as you don’t get hit or whiff attacks often you regen HP as you hit.

Health Augments in High Rank used to be 10% what you hit you’d get back in HP.

It’s just generally not worth it, but there’s nothing stopping you going all in and making a Super Vitality build or something with Recovery Up and Recovery Speed 3 along with multiple health augments etc.

For general play though, a single health augment is all you need.

Can you explain why?

The first health augment heals for 7.5% of your damage. A second augment heals for 9%, only a 1.5% increase. A third will heal for 11% and finally a fourth will heal for 14%. You don’t even double your healing. If you really want to improve your heal rate then you would probably be better just taking recovery up but honestly even that isn’t really necessary. Just 1 health augment is usually more than enough, especially on a weapon like greatsword which heals for massive chunks of health with each hit.

The first health augment heals for 7.5% of your damage. A second augment heals for 9%, only a 1.5% increase. A third will heal for 11% and finally a fourth will heal for 14%. You don’t even double your healing. If you really want to improve your heal rate then you would probably be better just taking recovery up but honestly even that isn’t really necessary. Just 1 health augment is usually more than enough, especially on a weapon like greatsword which heals for massive chunks of health with each hit.

i myself just stack hasten recovery with it if i want more healing.

This Mod only modifies the SAFI JIVA SIEGE time from 20 minutes to 50 minutes, without modifying any of its original damage or health values. The 20 minutes that are initially given is not enough for many hunters, sometimes due to lack of improvements in it or not being able to do it in cooperative due to the number of hunters who currently connect on PC to carry out this mission. The objective is to have a good hunt, which is good and not easy, thus compensating for the short time despite doing little damage.
Only the Streaker charger is needed.

Copy and paste the QUEST folder into the Nativepc folder.

another guy who didnt bother to read the damn update notes that the game literally smashes right into your face upon startup once you downloaded the update which clearly says :

special event quest «the red dragon»

safi’jiiva recon is nothing more than a taste of the battle to come. the ONLY rewards it drops are standard consumable items: potions, bombs, etc.

you HAVE to do the recon to be able to do the actual quest itself. but you ONLY have to do it once.

you do not get dracolite from the recon. only from the siege event. the recon is merely a taste of it. just like the behemoth recon.

I don’t get why you’d wanna go to the GL, because after every completion of the main siege, you get 2 reward boxes back at the gathering hall. One for the weapons, one for Dracolite only. If you can mine Dracolite, it’s probably not as easy as running the full siege multiple times, which can give a lot, and excess junk weapons can be converted into Dracolite.

pretty sure you can’t get dracolite for Safi stuff in GL. I said to the GL because of content’s sake. I gotta farm up stuff in the guiding lands for augments eventually.

I got a dracolite from the first recon/fight, what’s it for?

It’s a material you’ll need for when Safi’jiiva Siege goes live in its fullest. Basically when you finish the siege, you’ll get straight up BiS weapons to choose from (with a pleasantly minimal amount of RNG). These weapons are godlike because you can add up to five «Awakened Abilities» to them of increasingly high ranks/qualities. One of those abilities being a 6th Set Bonus piece.

Anyway, the way to get and upgrade these Awakened Abilities is by spending your Dracolite fragments on these Safi’jiiva weapons the same way you spend Armor Spheres on your armor to upgrade it.

A main difference, however, is that every time you fill up the weapon’s Awakening meter with Dracolite, you’re given 3 random abilities to choose from. If you don’t like any of them, however, you can «Store Potential» instead, increasing the chance for higher quality/rank abilities the NEXT time you roll, stacking (endlessly?) until you finally lock in an ability.

Trust me, it’s a lot less complicated than I’m making it sound. It’s really quite intuitive, and you’ll understand it when the event actually rolls around. You’ll be swimming in lv25/26 Awakened Safi weapons in no time. 🙂

Monster Hunter World Iceborne has introduced Awakened Weapons. The Safi’Jiva Siege, which is only available for a limited period, offers a variety of new weapons known as Awakened Weapons. In this Monster Hunter World Safi’Jiva Weapons guide, we will tell you how to get these Awakened Weapons.

Monster Hunter World Safi’Jiva Weapons

These Awakened Weapons distinguish themselves from other weapons in the game, and offer a variety of new tricks to players… assuming that players are able to get their hands on them in time.

In this guide, we will talk in comprehensive detail about the Safi’Jiva weapons and every bit of information related to them.

Safi’Jiva Event
These are an entirely new system of weapons with seemingly unlimited customization options that can augment and buff the weapons in a plethora of ways.

However, these awakened weapons are only available during the Safi’Jiva event, so make sure not to dawdle and get to it as soon as you can, lest you venture further without the aid of such magnificent weaponry.

Now you’re probably wondering what this event actually entails. This event, which begins on 13 th Dec 2019 and lasts until 5 th January 2020, features Iceborne’s second siege monster – the “mature form of Xeno’Jiva,” rumored to be called Safi’Jiva by the community.

Now don’t fret over the dates too much. Capcom has confirmed that the event will return eventually, however, the dates have not yet been disclosed, so ‘soon’ can mean many things. Best to play it by ear and participate in the event right now.

Fun fact: you can actually battle the creature in Practice Mode. Assuming that you’ve completed the Master Rank 24 Special Assignment “Across the Lost Path.”

You unlock a great deal more by completing this assignment, so definitely do that before the event starts.

To give you a little taste of what to expect – the creature is an odd mix between a Xeno’Jiva and the Behemoth (from the Final Fantasy 14 crossover).

It’s a large dragon-esque entity that shoots beams from its mouth, swipes its claws at you, and has a propensity to tackle you when you’re too close. Like Behemoth (but unlike Xeno’Jiva) you can also mount it.

Once you’ve dealt the creature enough damage, it will retreat to a different location and absorb energy from the ground.

The battle is divided into phases, and you’ll go through several different regions. You just need to follow it down to lower sections whenever it leaves by manually attaching to a wing drake at the edge of the arena.

We won’t spoil the whole battle for you, but you get the kind of endeavor this whole thing is now. Head into practice mode and try this out for yourself.

The reason why we’re encouraging you to do all this is so that you can obtain the unique items from the monster during the event. These are rare, useful items that will aid you immensely as you journey further into the depths.

How to Get Awakened Weapons
The event is similar to the Kulve Taroth, in that the Safi’Jiva randomly drops loot as Siege rewards. This loot is what we so desperately seek.

Unlike Kulve Taroth, however, they do not have random stats based on rarity. Every single Awakened Weapon comes with identical stats as the next.

In other words, one Awakened Hammer has the same stats as another Awakened Hammer.

Furthermore, you are guaranteed one weapon of the same type as the one you use to slay the Safi’Jiva; you can get the exact Awakened weapon you desire if you plan it out properly.

Awakened Weapons
As mentioned earlier, the Awakened Weapons work are similar to the drops obtained from Kulve Taroth. However, unlike those items, the Awakened Weapons can be infinitely upgraded with different perks.

Once you have the weapon you want, you can pump a new resource called Dracolite into each one. Doing so randomly rolls perks for you to select from.

You can mix and match up to five of these abilities onto the weapon at will — upgrading some of them up to five levels.

The one randomized feature of the Awakened Weapons is their element or status. Although each weapon of a given type will deal the same amount of damage, what kind of element or status effect they’ll have is completely up to chance. It’s actually possible for a weapon to have every single damage type.

You’re only allowed to take pick up from a few dropped items. At the end of the run, you may be given the option of several different Awakened Weapons, but you can only choose to appraise and keep a few of them.

Dracolite
Alongside the Awakened Weapons, players will also get their hands on a new item: Dracolite. These function in the same way as Armor Spheres, except they upgrade weapons instead.

They are of 4 different varieties (based on the information currently available):

With the aid of Dracolite, players can level up their Awakened Weapons, with each individual level offering a different benefit.

Instead of boosting the stats of that weapon, a new level instead offers players 3 Perks to choose from.

These Perks can be extra damage, Bonus Affinity, even entire armor sets. The more basic skills can also be upgraded from Level 1 to Level 5.

If you equip bonus elemental damage, for instance, you can roll for the perk again and again to raise it to Level 5.

Note that you can only equip 5 Perks at any given time. This may seem like a hindrance, but you are allowed to change them at any point. You will need more Dracolite to keep rolling for more Perks.

You get a little bit of Dracolite just for “repelling” Safi’Jiva for the first time, after the Master Rank 24 Special Assignment “Across the Lost Path.”

But wait, there’s more! You actually have the option of not picking any of the 3 Perks offered to you, instead you can opt to ‘Store’ these Perks.

Each Perk has a Rarity Level, and by storing these Perks, you increase the odds of obtaining an ultra-rare Perk when you raise your Awakened Level further.

And that’s all there is to it. By fighting Safi’Jiva, it will drop loot (which includes Awakened Weapons and Dracolite) and you can use that loot to obtain new Perks and Abilities.

Starting on the 2nd floor and onward safijiva has an aggro mechanic similar to behemoth where 1 player, usually the top damage dealer (although hits to the face generate more aggro than other parts). When this happens DO NOT PANIC, DO NOT CHASE THE TAIL. Stay calm and ask yourself

‘can I tank safijiva?’:

If yes, then consider your arena. On the 2nd floor there are small ledges party members can use for easy air time (for those not familiar with the clutchclaw method) to get mounts in. On the 3rd floor before the first saphire star bomb there are ridged walls, if there are SnS, DB’s, Hammers, or even bows, they will love you long time if you can line safi up with the wall. After the wall is destroyed by the first star bomb there will be green puddles of mist, try to guid safi to them as each can be detonated for 1k damage and a decent chance of getting knocked down.

If the answer is no you have two options, wait for a teammate to grab aggro from you or use a farcaster to run to the tent, which will break aggro. But, do not try to run to the sides or rear, it is important to keep the boss steady so everyone else can maximize their damage. Having the boss spin in circles puts everyone in danger and is incredibly frusterating for team members.

On a side note, when a player who does not want aggro, or can’t handle it, grabs aggro it can be taken by yeeting safi (cltutch to the face and flinch shot). Each arena has at least 1 rockpile, there is a rockpile at the tent (and crystal burst to the side). Even if you are not confident in your ability to tank, if you have the tempura mantle and a farcaster consider popping the cloak, grabbing aggro, then caster out when the cloak is used up. Whoever has aggro is going to have a hard time getting hits in and benching your top damage dealer is generally not ideal. These are all judgement calls, but assessing the situation and controlling it can go a long ways towards having a smooth hunt.

Edit: As other people mentioned, you can use smoke bombs to lose aggro. Also, when enraged, having someone take aggro helps a lot as well.

Elder seal helps in draining energy faster; but there’s plenty of other tools in stage 1 and 2 to make safi drain its energy faster.

Save all dragon weapons till stage 3 and with the right teamwork it can net a completed run in just 1-2 tries.

Yeah I took an Elderseal boosted Stygian weapon to Safi’Jiiva for my first three runs but it felt kinda lackluster so I just went back to my old faithful elementless. I was mashing that dragon constantly but I couldn’t really tell a difference. maybe you need more than one guy with Elderseal to really get those speedy drains, I dunno.

I figured everyone would be using Safi weapons within a day or so, so I may as well not get used to Elderseal since it’ll be pretty much gone, etc.

partbreaking doesn’t complete the quest tho. It’s all health based and the energy is the barrier.

its a similar concept as kulve, speed wins the day where killing safi as fast as possible in 1 hunt for medium rewards is more efficient than going through the points checklist through multiple hunts.

unlike kulve however safi has no part break mechanic locking your progression so in this senario it’s optional. and if there is one thing large monsters hate its elemental ammo. ripped through stage1 kulve and it does the same to safi.

otherwise yeah part break and even the slightest attempt to organize your group into breaking the parts are actually worth points helps get things going.

now for elder seal its not really worth putting too much thought into. it helps dragon edge out over the other elemental options but it isnt a reason to swap your your raw weapons outside of possibly for nergi gear since those weapons tended to be around top 3 to begin with.

For a while, Safi weapons were the best ones.
But now that the Kjarr (Kulve Taroth) weapons can be upgraded to R12, that has changed, especially for elemental, given the ‘built-in’ critical element skill on Kjarr weapons.
But to take full advantage of that, you’re going to need a full Safi armor set.
I can screenshot some glaive comparisons for you (Safi vs Kjarr), if you can tell me which ones you’re specifically interested in.

Safi armor technically one of the strongest high-risk play armor now. Either in full 5 set or just partly 3 set combined with other set. The slotting and skill given are good as well.

On the other hand, the new currently running Kulve MR armor set gives more safer, utility play with same slotting level.

For weapons, it depends on category. Safi weapons mostly offer more «slotting» potential compared to other weapons. Especially great for deco based weapons like bowguns (those ammo capacity awakenings are absurd into your DPS calculation), lance and IG part. Building a debuff-based bow also good.

If there is anything to catch on, it is depends on how you awakened/upgraded the Safi weapons. For example, Safi lance practically weaker from the lightbreak lance at base. But with 2 sharpness V, 1 Attack V, and Slot Upgrade III then add one set skill you like, it gives you more utiity instead. Gone already the need of having one of those crap nergi / vaal set, you just need 1 more piece to activate hasten / super recovery instead.

Highest damage for elemental weapons would gofor Kulve crit element weapons. But the armor most likely still using Safi set to achieve best potential.

Tldr: You missed a high damage set, so reaching damage meta may not possible right now (depends on your weapon choice). But if you are utility based player instead, one that plays casually low skill for fun and getting hit left-right, you only missed little.

Raging Brachydios weapons, an endgame monster, is pretty damn close to a full awakened safi weapon. His armor is also pretty good. People are using his boots and chest and teostra’s helm, gauntlets and coil.

safi’jiiva recon is nothing more than a taste of the battle to come. the ONLY rewards it drops are standard consumable items: potions, bombs, etc.

you HAVE to do the recon to be able to do the actual quest itself. but you ONLY have to do it once.

you do not get dracolite from the recon. only from the siege event. the recon is merely a taste of it. just like the behemoth recon.

I don’t get why you’d wanna go to the GL, because after every completion of the main siege, you get 2 reward boxes back at the gathering hall. One for the weapons, one for Dracolite only. If you can mine Dracolite, it’s probably not as easy as running the full siege multiple times, which can give a lot, and excess junk weapons can be converted into Dracolite.

pretty sure you can’t get dracolite for Safi stuff in GL. I said to the GL because of content’s sake. I gotta farm up stuff in the guiding lands for augments eventually.

I got a dracolite from the first recon/fight, what’s it for?

It’s a material you’ll need for when Safi’jiiva Siege goes live in its fullest. Basically when you finish the siege, you’ll get straight up BiS weapons to choose from (with a pleasantly minimal amount of RNG). These weapons are godlike because you can add up to five «Awakened Abilities» to them of increasingly high ranks/qualities. One of those abilities being a 6th Set Bonus piece.

Anyway, the way to get and upgrade these Awakened Abilities is by spending your Dracolite fragments on these Safi’jiiva weapons the same way you spend Armor Spheres on your armor to upgrade it.

A main difference, however, is that every time you fill up the weapon’s Awakening meter with Dracolite, you’re given 3 random abilities to choose from. If you don’t like any of them, however, you can «Store Potential» instead, increasing the chance for higher quality/rank abilities the NEXT time you roll, stacking (endlessly?) until you finally lock in an ability.

Trust me, it’s a lot less complicated than I’m making it sound. It’s really quite intuitive, and you’ll understand it when the event actually rolls around. You’ll be swimming in lv25/26 Awakened Safi weapons in no time. 🙂

Staying in the quest after stage 2 with less than 10 minutes left is useless. Save your time and restart the run simultaneously with everyone.

You lose no rewards for leaving the quest.
This is not kulve taroth. All rewards are kill and partbreak based. Just reset and get a chestbreak in the final run,

require coordinate Attacks and CCs (para/sleep/KO/environments) but it’s very efficient for mats farming. (and little room for mistakes, each run take 16-19 minutes)

edit: my party was running 4 aquashots tho. it’s a bit harder to break the chest which gives big score, but not impossible)

I would already be happy if people could stop going after the legs first.

In first stage that’s kinda mandatory as that’s the best way to shift safi around to traps so you can get the energy sapped as fast as possible.

In 2nd stage it’s still the best things to hit for damage for melee weps because his head and tail move too much (tail is a bit easier, but it still shifts upwards too much for consistent damage sometimes).

Stage 3? Yea, there’s a ton of other hitzones with better values available.

Am I the only one who finds the Safi’jiiva siege even more boring than Kulv Taroth? Why can’t you pack a new feature like the Awakening weapon in a more interesting way? The big dragon looks cool, but if the path to ultimate equipment is so boring, then why the whole thing?

Multiple levels with different Safi’jiiva-influenced biomes and monsters to hunt for would have been cool. Subspecies that can only be found in the Safi’jiiva level. Similar to the Guiding Lands just keep going down. At the end the nest with Safi’jiiva, which you then do once.

The biomes and monsters should be different every time. With beautiful waterfalls, cool-looking monsters. So that you don’t just go in for the reward. But also because it’s just fun.

Stupid Grind is rather boring. You have shown that it is possible with the Guiding Lands.

In the end, everything is a lot of grind, but you can at least pack it nicely so that it is fun for longer.

I actually prefer Safi to Kulve.

While Kulve is a great fight and a fairly original monster to fight, I found his siege in general to be rather grindy and much less interesting as a whole when compared to Safi.
Safi can be done in 2 runs as long as the players are communicating and are properly equipped for the task.
Kulve usually took several runs to complete for me and my friends and the random factor added to it’s rewards made it even more frustrating as you had to it over and over again for a chance at that one desirable weapon that you craved.
Most of the weapons I wanted from Safi were obtained in 3 runs.

Safi’s fight is visually amazing and all the mechanics just click for me and it really keeps me on my toes throughout the fight. I especially adore his sapphire star move!
The mechanics in his fight are diverse in a similar manner to Kulve, but way less frustrating to deal with. I really hated Kulve’s first phase.

I think your idea is very original, though it might be a bit grindy which is exactly what most people hated about Kulve Taroth.

Safi can be done in 2 runs as long as the players are communicating and are properly equipped for the task.
Kulve usually took several runs to complete for me and my friends and the random factor added to it’s rewards made it even more frustrating as you had to it over and over again for a chance at that one desirable weapon that you craved.
Most of the weapons I wanted from Safi were obtained in 3 runs.

Wasn’t a fan of the old timey track sniffing then kill phase unless you ran p1 premades in which case those are also boring because there’s only 1 correct way to do those. I agree KT is grindier than safi, but that doesn’t paint safi in a better light, that just means its less grindy.

I like that KT was more accessible to more people. If you dont deal enough damage to safi it’ll just nuke the stage and end the fight.

and about the grind, please tell us what the devs can do to make the grind more «interesting» beside boring grinding

They could start by removing rng on top of rng for a start. It’s just unnecessary that you have to roll the right weapon and also roll the right awakened power. They should just remove the starting awakened power.

The less rewarding grind is, the more tedious it feels. I heard that the Kulve grind was even worse and therefor many are happy with the improvement. But for me it is still ♥♥♥♥ and I can only imagine that Kulve must have been ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garbage.

Yes, I’ve seen this nuke as well.
It occured only on one occasion though and this was with randoms.

I’ve been doing the siege three times in a row with a pre-made group and we suceeded every time. It took us 2 runs to kill him and everyone had a good understanding of the siege itself and the mechanics of the fight.
If you’ve got a group of friends to play with then this is definetly the way to go for Safi.

If youre struggling to hit the DPS checks to prevent the nukes then you might have to check whether your gear or team composition are appropriate for Safi.
Partbreaker 3 is essential for example.
Make sure that the team is well balanced and keep in mind that support builds aren’t very usefull for the Safi fight and you might be better off switching to a more offensive build.

They could start by removing rng on top of rng for a start. It’s just unnecessary that you have to roll the right weapon and also roll the right awakened power. They should just remove the starting awakened power.

The less rewarding grind is, the more tedious it feels. I heard that the Kulve grind was even worse and therefor many are happy with the improvement. But for me it is still ♥♥♥♥ and I can only imagine that Kulve must have been ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garbage.

It was a nightmare. I wanted the ice CB and even after 20-25 runs it never dropped for me.
AT Kulve was also really grindy as the emperor nuggets needed to craft the gamma armor weren’t guaranteed to drop and it took me almost 10 tries just to get the nuggets.

It was a prime example of a grindy experience.

I actually prefer Safi to Kulve.

While Kulve is a great fight and a fairly original monster to fight, I found his siege in general to be rather grindy and much less interesting as a whole when compared to Safi.
Safi can be done in 2 runs as long as the players are communicating and are properly equipped for the task.
Kulve usually took several runs to complete for me and my friends and the random factor added to it’s rewards made it even more frustrating as you had to it over and over again for a chance at that one desirable weapon that you craved.
Most of the weapons I wanted from Safi were obtained in 3 runs.

Safi’s fight is visually amazing and all the mechanics just click for me and it really keeps me on my toes throughout the fight. I especially adore his sapphire star move!
The mechanics in his fight are diverse in a similar manner to Kulve, but way less frustrating to deal with. I really hated Kulve’s first phase.

I think your idea is very original, though it might be a bit grindy which is exactly what most people hated about Kulve Taroth.

True, its less frustrating then kulv. The Reward System is by far better.

Poison is overall a great abnormal status effect that will slowly drain a targets health. It is known to even affect monsters with strong poison resistance which cannot be said for any elemental damage or other status attacks. Because of this any poison buffing Awakened Ability or stapling builds with poison attacks is always good.

The Brachydios Essence effect is unlocked by equipping 3 pieces of Brachydios Alpha or Beta armor. This awakens the skill Agitator Secret which raises the maximum level of the Agitator Skill to Lv7. While active, Agitator increases your damage as well as affinity when monsters become enraged. This is a great addition to any build that relies on attack power and raw attack damage as well as crit hit percentage.

The extra damage when a monster is enraged is great because it is much harder to hit so higher damage hitting will compensate for hitting less. And higher crit percentage affinity is great for skills that rely on crit hits to proc such as Critical Status which increases abnormal status effect damage every time a crit is landed.

The savage bloody Nargacuga will have you wanting to throw the towel in especially after getting pummeled with his tail made of sharp porcupine like quills. But his armor is worth the grind and activating Nargacuga Essence will grant you the valuable skill True Razor Sharp/Spare Shot which alternates for sharp weapons as well as bowguns.

True Razor Sharp greatly reduces sharpness loss while using sharp weapons and Spare Shot chances when unloading your clip for bows and bowguns that your ammo or ammo coating will not be spent virtually giving another bullet or bow. So keeping your weapon sharp is very valuable for attack damage and extending your clip as much as possible for bowguns is useful because the ammo in clip reserve is usually very low in MHW.

Unlocking elemental power can be very powerful and totally change the game for some weapons. Although this skillneeds to be procked by attacking successively and doesn’t stay active the whole battle, it does still stay procked most of the time as when it does activate it will stay on 45 seconds with short cooldowns in between. Also elemental damage itself will be increased.

Bow or bowgun users will definitely want to keep an eye on the Ammo Up skill as it increases ammo magazine capacity by one or two for ammo making the clip last longer so reloads are less frequent. Ammo Up is a rare valuable skill but this Awakening is mostly used for its elemental buff.

It is often argued whether or not critical hits, affinity or crit percentage is better to use over base attack damage. Which one do you prefer? Crit hits or raw attack? I always go for attack.? CHARGE.

With a limited amount of armor set ability selection per build and gem slots to equip skills it is wise to know which skills are better to leave out or weaken to make room for the more powerful skills. Crit or attack? Crit or attack? Wait I know. BOTH!!

Are you getting stomped on, flipped around then tossed up and hit like a grunting overhead Olympic skirt blowing tennis serve back to your tent? I mean do you die a lot? It probably means you need to chill on the attack builds and work on your defense. Yes it may mean your battle will last longer but that’s what we call patience. AHHHHH!! NO HE SAID PATIENCE.

Yes I did and Gold Rathian Essence with a two piece armor set raises the maximum level of the Divine Blessing skill which is a great defense perk and with four pieces gives True Critical Status great for buffing status damage which also is a patient ploy. AHHHHH. HE SAID IT AGAIN. KILL HIM! (Ok yea I didn’t need to say it twice, kill me now.)

The better than Kulve siege Safi Jiva comes in swinging fast dropping shinies and offering godlike equipment that just might be worth attempting getting fired from your job cheating unemployment so you have the time to board yourself up in your room to farm this monster a few months. (Does that sound really good to anybody else?)

The armor itself is styling red dragon leathery magnificence and the three-piece set grants a huge crit damage bonus with blight abnormal status resistance while the five piece has the same effect but enhanced. However and that’s a big however, you will receive small amounts of damage for each hit which does regenerate a good amount back but nevertheless the ability siphons your health and brings it back almost like some sort of HP gambling scenario.

And what does every good boy need to do with his big sword? Keep it sharp, sharper and the sharpest and MHW is not playing around with this thing. Teostra’s technique grants the ability Master’s Touch which prevents your weapon from losing sharpness during critical hits. So a sharper weapon means more damage. It kinda makes sense. Ouch put that thing down. Scaring me.

This ability is granted when wearing three pieces of Teostra’s Alpha Armor Set and pairs well with two piece Safi Jiva’s Dragonvein Awakening effect which boosts affinity. This will give you mega meta DPS.

Ok so I’m a Heavy Bowgun user and I have to sit through two to five second animations everytime I reload which is often and very painful. So I definitely feel your pain blade sharpeners every time your blade goes dull and you have to stop to sharpen all while keeping an eye on an enraged monster and sometimes having to cancel or worse yet get smacked mid-animation having to restart the sharpening. (Oh the piercing agony.Ahhh, my PTSD…. just need…. ahhh… whiskey).

MHW is full of sharpening tactics and buffs and ways to use your blade anyway even if it’s not completely that sharp. But it looks like just stacking the basic sharp Awakening Ability itself in your awakening build slots is mucho-grande powerful.

That’s right hunter boys and girls. Attack, attack, attack takes the main stage in MHW. With the ability to stack the Attack Awakening Ability in your build’s Awakening slots it makes room for some serious damage. So have at it.

Attack is just so important and versatile with so many builds. With impact builds it increases the chance of procking a KO; Blast builds it increases the chance of breaking parts. And I think raw power damage is just awesome for Heavy Bowguns.

So yea get in there and do some raw attack damage. Be dumb and have fun. There’s nothing wrong with that.

safi’jiiva recon is nothing more than a taste of the battle to come. the ONLY rewards it drops are standard consumable items: potions, bombs, etc.

you HAVE to do the recon to be able to do the actual quest itself. but you ONLY have to do it once.

you do not get dracolite from the recon. only from the siege event. the recon is merely a taste of it. just like the behemoth recon.

I don’t get why you’d wanna go to the GL, because after every completion of the main siege, you get 2 reward boxes back at the gathering hall. One for the weapons, one for Dracolite only. If you can mine Dracolite, it’s probably not as easy as running the full siege multiple times, which can give a lot, and excess junk weapons can be converted into Dracolite.

pretty sure you can’t get dracolite for Safi stuff in GL. I said to the GL because of content’s sake. I gotta farm up stuff in the guiding lands for augments eventually.

I got a dracolite from the first recon/fight, what’s it for?

It’s a material you’ll need for when Safi’jiiva Siege goes live in its fullest. Basically when you finish the siege, you’ll get straight up BiS weapons to choose from (with a pleasantly minimal amount of RNG). These weapons are godlike because you can add up to five «Awakened Abilities» to them of increasingly high ranks/qualities. One of those abilities being a 6th Set Bonus piece.

Anyway, the way to get and upgrade these Awakened Abilities is by spending your Dracolite fragments on these Safi’jiiva weapons the same way you spend Armor Spheres on your armor to upgrade it.

A main difference, however, is that every time you fill up the weapon’s Awakening meter with Dracolite, you’re given 3 random abilities to choose from. If you don’t like any of them, however, you can «Store Potential» instead, increasing the chance for higher quality/rank abilities the NEXT time you roll, stacking (endlessly?) until you finally lock in an ability.

Trust me, it’s a lot less complicated than I’m making it sound. It’s really quite intuitive, and you’ll understand it when the event actually rolls around. You’ll be swimming in lv25/26 Awakened Safi weapons in no time. 🙂

Yes, as this mod is a simple modification of the siege quest.

No, it forces the quest to be played solo, meaning if YOU pick the quest then no one can join you. You can still join other’s people safi but from the insignificant amount of testing I’ve done on this you won’t deal much damage, if any. If you want to do the siege quest in multi then simply rename or remove the quest file.

Yes, all of the siege mechanics are still there, despite the increased timer. Meaning you could drain all of the energy if you wanted.

I saw a lot people using safi weapons, does safi provide the strongest weapon now?

For a while, Safi weapons were the best ones.
But now that the Kjarr (Kulve Taroth) weapons can be upgraded to R12, that has changed, especially for elemental, given the ‘built-in’ critical element skill on Kjarr weapons.
But to take full advantage of that, you’re going to need a full Safi armor set.
I can screenshot some glaive comparisons for you (Safi vs Kjarr), if you can tell me which ones you’re specifically interested in.

Safi armor technically one of the strongest high-risk play armor now. Either in full 5 set or just partly 3 set combined with other set. The slotting and skill given are good as well.

On the other hand, the new currently running Kulve MR armor set gives more safer, utility play with same slotting level.

For weapons, it depends on category. Safi weapons mostly offer more «slotting» potential compared to other weapons. Especially great for deco based weapons like bowguns (those ammo capacity awakenings are absurd into your DPS calculation), lance and IG part. Building a debuff-based bow also good.

If there is anything to catch on, it is depends on how you awakened/upgraded the Safi weapons. For example, Safi lance practically weaker from the lightbreak lance at base. But with 2 sharpness V, 1 Attack V, and Slot Upgrade III then add one set skill you like, it gives you more utiity instead. Gone already the need of having one of those crap nergi / vaal set, you just need 1 more piece to activate hasten / super recovery instead.

Highest damage for elemental weapons would gofor Kulve crit element weapons. But the armor most likely still using Safi set to achieve best potential.

Tldr: You missed a high damage set, so reaching damage meta may not possible right now (depends on your weapon choice). But if you are utility based player instead, one that plays casually low skill for fun and getting hit left-right, you only missed little.

Raging Brachydios weapons, an endgame monster, is pretty damn close to a full awakened safi weapon. His armor is also pretty good. People are using his boots and chest and teostra’s helm, gauntlets and coil.

Safi armor technically one of the strongest high-risk play armor now. Either in full 5 set or just partly 3 set combined with other set. The slotting and skill given are good as well.

On the other hand, the new currently running Kulve MR armor set gives more safer, utility play with same slotting level.

For weapons, it depends on category. Safi weapons mostly offer more «slotting» potential compared to other weapons. Especially great for deco based weapons like bowguns (those ammo capacity awakenings are absurd into your DPS calculation), lance and IG part. Building a debuff-based bow also good.

If there is anything to catch on, it is depends on how you awakened/upgraded the Safi weapons. For example, Safi lance practically weaker from the lightbreak lance at base. But with 2 sharpness V, 1 Attack V, and Slot Upgrade III then add one set skill you like, it gives you more utiity instead. Gone already the need of having one of those crap nergi / vaal set, you just need 1 more piece to activate hasten / super recovery instead.

Highest damage for elemental weapons would gofor Kulve crit element weapons. But the armor most likely still using Safi set to achieve best potential.

Tldr: You missed a high damage set, so reaching damage meta may not possible right now (depends on your weapon choice). But if you are utility based player instead, one that plays casually low skill for fun and getting hit left-right, you only missed little.

For MP, blast will be kinda useless, especially once raging brachy launches cause everyone will be using it, and monsters gain resistance per proc.

But it doesn’t really matter since the raw portion is where the weapon shines. It’s not worth it to take status up awakenings instead of attack. So sure blast is “technically” better, it really doesn’t matter. The base blast will barely even get one proc per hunt, same with poison. Blast’s only windfall is the Teo legs bonus would otherwise be entirely wasted.

Avoid any blast safi weapons. Brachydios looms.

wrong. brachy is a sidegrade over safis blast ls. not an upgrade sadly. its about 99% as strong as safi blast ls but not BETTER overall sadly. it looks cool tough.

but i wouldnt farm my ass off for a safi blast ls anymore with that information.

but purple sharpness is still overrated. and still bounches on stuff like jang arms during super rage unlike minds eye deco.

as for the tc : literally ANY safi ls with 5 attack awakenings is better than luna ls by default.

Speaking in total generalities, if you’re the only person running it, blast is better than poison, largely because of the rule that you can’t apply status to something already affected by that status. What that means, for poison, is that you can’t begin to build up the second poison on a monster until the first has elapsed.

Since blast is instantaneous, it has no downtime and you can immediately begin working towards the next one.

There are somewhat diminishing returns on a lot of people running the same status, though, because while you’ll trigger the procs much faster, you’ll build up resistance faster as well, so while you might get 4 blasts in a solo hunt, you certainly won’t get 16 in a 4-player hunt.

Blast does more damage over the course of a hunt than poison due to additional procs being possible immediately instead of only building up once the status wears off like other status weapons. That having been said, Blast weapons are meta for all non-element focused gear, so poison can be better in group play because if you’re the only poison, it will do more than a third or fourth blast weapon.

Poison is a perfectly acceptable substitute. The damage loss is not particularly significant, and imo it looks cooler atop being better for group play.

The reason why blast is better is that teo three pieces come with blast attack. That’s all.

this is incorrect. the 2 levels of blast barely matter imo.

this is the correct answer. blast is instant. it also helps with staggers and partbreaks. poisen does neither of these things. hence why blast is meta. poisen on luna was just meta because of lunas silly god stats at the time. but these days are numbered for good.

alatreon likely wont be meta for ls due to his ls by nature haveing dragon element dmg and elderseal. unless they massivly buff its raw and purple and give it lvl 4 slots or something like that it wont be anywhere close to raging brach or safi blast ls options.

mr kulve is the only other thing because it could allow the old NEB meta to raise from its grave if they overbuff taroth sword fire. but maybe only the kajarr ones are upgradeable. its hard to tell. pc gets kulve same day as console tough so we wont know till april 23th at the earliest. (this wont come out any sooner as we get raging and furious on the 9th. one week later makes no sense. may aswell release it all at once then for pc. and the 30th of april is a bit too late. plus safi siege ends on 22th. makes the most sense for kulve siege to return there aswell for its mr 4 player fight.

clearing the recon is a requirement to access the real siege. the name is unlocked either way but you cannot join the siege in other sessions if you havent done the recon.

tc just doesnt know how to get infos for events ingame and simply doesnt know how to actually access a siege lobby once unlocked. user issue entirely.

You literally have no idea what diversity is do you? How is having one set of weapons far above the rest diverse? holy sh.

They’re the only weapons in game that allow you to have 2x 3-piece set bonuses, or 3x 2-piece set bonuses, or 4-piece+2-piece set bonuses, so that opens up a lot of build possibilities for people who don’t care about meta. They also come in every element/status.

The worst thing is that everyone will have the same weapon looks.

Safi was supposed to come back mid-may but they are rescheduling everything because of Covid so it’s not sure anymore.

NEW updates are being rescheduled. Safi’s already in the game so I doubt that will be delayed.

They are also extending current event because of it so it might push Safi away, if they don’t want it and Kulve to be on at the same time.

I did go to check on their event schedule on main site but it’s gone saying it’s being changed because of covid.

Yes, the initial Safi’Jiiva launch is essentially a taste of the full-blown siege fight for practicing purposes. Safi will most likely launch a week later.

The update itself still has the Hoarfrost GL area which is more than enough extra content to last the week.

Wait, you’re saying we arent getting all the content on the 12th? Why? We’ve had 2 months at that point to reach endgame some of us have done it quicker than others and the content has become stale already on deco farm. :/ our content has already been throttled enough as is and we still have to wait a month of brachio jang after consoles spoil everything.

Consoles got the exact same deal. Remember that for consoles, Safi’Jiiva itself came completely out of nowhere. (the monster was teased, but not for an imminent update. Most of us believed it was coming AFTER Stygian) Stygian and the Hoarfrost GL zone was the update’s actual advertised content and Safi was just a bonus.

Would not be so fast to dismiss Raging Brachy armor. Agitator is one of the best skills in the entire game and Agitator Secret is legitimately incredible. It being attached to more efficient armor is a big deal.

Base Rajang armor also had some great pieces for mixed sets including pieces packing WEX so it’s entirely possible Furious Rajang armor will have an efficient WEX-building piece.

Also bear in mind that with Safi weapons, there is now room for Master’s Touch/TCE and Agitator Secret in the same build.

For a while, Safi weapons were the best ones.
But now that the Kjarr (Kulve Taroth) weapons can be upgraded to R12, that has changed, especially for elemental, given the ‘built-in’ critical element skill on Kjarr weapons.
But to take full advantage of that, you’re going to need a full Safi armor set.
I can screenshot some glaive comparisons for you (Safi vs Kjarr), if you can tell me which ones you’re specifically interested in.

Safi armor technically one of the strongest high-risk play armor now. Either in full 5 set or just partly 3 set combined with other set. The slotting and skill given are good as well.

On the other hand, the new currently running Kulve MR armor set gives more safer, utility play with same slotting level.

For weapons, it depends on category. Safi weapons mostly offer more «slotting» potential compared to other weapons. Especially great for deco based weapons like bowguns (those ammo capacity awakenings are absurd into your DPS calculation), lance and IG part. Building a debuff-based bow also good.

If there is anything to catch on, it is depends on how you awakened/upgraded the Safi weapons. For example, Safi lance practically weaker from the lightbreak lance at base. But with 2 sharpness V, 1 Attack V, and Slot Upgrade III then add one set skill you like, it gives you more utiity instead. Gone already the need of having one of those crap nergi / vaal set, you just need 1 more piece to activate hasten / super recovery instead.

Highest damage for elemental weapons would gofor Kulve crit element weapons. But the armor most likely still using Safi set to achieve best potential.

Tldr: You missed a high damage set, so reaching damage meta may not possible right now (depends on your weapon choice). But if you are utility based player instead, one that plays casually low skill for fun and getting hit left-right, you only missed little.

Raging Brachydios weapons, an endgame monster, is pretty damn close to a full awakened safi weapon. His armor is also pretty good. People are using his boots and chest and teostra’s helm, gauntlets and coil.

Staying in the quest after stage 2 with less than 10 minutes left is useless. Save your time and restart the run simultaneously with everyone.

You lose no rewards for leaving the quest.
This is not kulve taroth. All rewards are kill and partbreak based. Just reset and get a chestbreak in the final run,

I would already be happy if people could stop going after the legs first.

In first stage that’s kinda mandatory as that’s the best way to shift safi around to traps so you can get the energy sapped as fast as possible.

In 2nd stage it’s still the best things to hit for damage for melee weps because his head and tail move too much (tail is a bit easier, but it still shifts upwards too much for consistent damage sometimes).

Stage 3? Yea, there’s a ton of other hitzones with better values available.

it should be taking you 2 runs MAX unless if you’re garbage or your team is garbage.

Then either you or your teammates were doing something awfully wrong.

Questions:
1. Are you using the meta Aquashot build (water ammo)?
2. Are you breaking stuffs that were broken in the previous round?
3. Can you solo cut the tail with LS/GS/SA within 20 minutes?

I mean, I played with random most of the time. Out of my 30-35 safi kills with random, I rarely reach anything below Lv14. I mean, to be fair, there are teams that is just TOO HEAVY. Like no health boost (king of carting), no part breaker, players with bows / spread 3 HBG etc. But most of the time, safi is killed within 2 rounds.

Some are even SWAT teams that knows how to break Safi’s chest.

Tips:
Level up the weapons to Awaken Lv6 (usually takes 8 to 16 points) before you turn them into dragonites. At Awaken Lv6, you get 2x 20 points dragonites instead of 1×20.

So, I’am having problems to break Safi’s cheast. To be more precise, it’s unbreakable for my team. We are pretty experient hunters and used to do a lot of Kulve p1s. So we are funding it strange.

Only in P3? But there are p1 runs speedruns on console that they break it. Could it be only on pc?

They break it on super critical state
P1 run also aims to hit chest constantly to get chest stun

You can break it alone in MP game with 5k damage, use great sword to get it easier
Get tails while you’re at it

As its already mentioned, its easier to break it during super crit state in the bottom level. Otherwise, you will take forever to break the chest making it impossible. Team composition is a key in Safi siege if you wann max reward. 4 players (With all partbreaker) must focus on the chest during the crit state. Also, use the gas properly in bottom level, detail in my guide

*3 players w all sticky safi LBG and 1 baiter is my fav. composition. Sticky LBG deals a huge constant dmg resulting in an easier break.

Safi Jiva’s armor coming in about an hour will offer a totally new risk-reward playstyle. It also allows us to use skills like resenment (raw boosts when redbar healing is present) and latent power (triggers after taking 180 damage from any sources). While safi’s armor naturally provides health regen after about 40 HP loss on every weapon if you hit every hit, health augment can still be a great benefactor for certain weapons.

Having Health Boost 3 is highly crucial if you don’t use health augment.

However, Resentment requires you to still have a redbar to activate. The issue is who should forgo health augment to make sure resentment is activating near 100% of the time?

Dragonvein health drain happens the instant you swing your weapon. Health regen happens the moment you hit the monster. The question you must ask for your preferred weapon is whether the swing and attack arc/shot happen at a different time. Resentment will only trigger if its between those periods.

All bows and bowguns using raw/element will always benefit with health augment. There is plenty of space by staying just a few feet away from the monster. Your resentment buff will always go off. The one exception that needs testing is mutlihit attacks. Pierce shots and spread fire on bow may not calculate resentment if your health gets back to full. This needs testing.

Melee weapons that will benefit because their active attack arcs are large.
Great Sword
Long Sword
Switch Axe (sword+ axe mode, zero sum spamming should not have health aug)

Melee weapons that may benefit, but have stabbing or short active frame arcs. They will likely benefit less with health augment.
Sword and Shield
Charge Blade (sword hits are short, savage axe mode is multihit)
Hunting Horn
Insect Glaive
Hammer
Gunlance (safi poses no boost to shelling, if you are using slapstick normal strategies, safi armor may provide some boost to your setup. Shelling counts in the health loss/regen system)

Melee weapons that will likely not benefit at all with health augment because their attack active frames are so short in comparison when connecting hits on the monster
Dual Blades
Lance (virtually instant attacks)

This is the primary bit of information you will need if you want to make latent power-resentment safi jiva setups.

You can also use status damage from poison, heat damage, effluvium gas (environmental type is less dangerous), and lava damage to proc latent power faster and ensure resentment is always active.

try to change the online lobby search to Safi instead of any. You should be able to find a few groups who are doing it.

Also, I have tried bow in Safi hunts. I would say it is less ideal to use it. I use Safi bow in the hunts to upgrade it, but I feel the damage is just less than others.

For MP, blast will be kinda useless, especially once raging brachy launches cause everyone will be using it, and monsters gain resistance per proc.

But it doesn’t really matter since the raw portion is where the weapon shines. It’s not worth it to take status up awakenings instead of attack. So sure blast is “technically” better, it really doesn’t matter. The base blast will barely even get one proc per hunt, same with poison. Blast’s only windfall is the Teo legs bonus would otherwise be entirely wasted.

Avoid any blast safi weapons. Brachydios looms.

wrong. brachy is a sidegrade over safis blast ls. not an upgrade sadly. its about 99% as strong as safi blast ls but not BETTER overall sadly. it looks cool tough.

but i wouldnt farm my ass off for a safi blast ls anymore with that information.

but purple sharpness is still overrated. and still bounches on stuff like jang arms during super rage unlike minds eye deco.

as for the tc : literally ANY safi ls with 5 attack awakenings is better than luna ls by default.

Speaking in total generalities, if you’re the only person running it, blast is better than poison, largely because of the rule that you can’t apply status to something already affected by that status. What that means, for poison, is that you can’t begin to build up the second poison on a monster until the first has elapsed.

Since blast is instantaneous, it has no downtime and you can immediately begin working towards the next one.

There are somewhat diminishing returns on a lot of people running the same status, though, because while you’ll trigger the procs much faster, you’ll build up resistance faster as well, so while you might get 4 blasts in a solo hunt, you certainly won’t get 16 in a 4-player hunt.

Blast does more damage over the course of a hunt than poison due to additional procs being possible immediately instead of only building up once the status wears off like other status weapons. That having been said, Blast weapons are meta for all non-element focused gear, so poison can be better in group play because if you’re the only poison, it will do more than a third or fourth blast weapon.

Poison is a perfectly acceptable substitute. The damage loss is not particularly significant, and imo it looks cooler atop being better for group play.

The reason why blast is better is that teo three pieces come with blast attack. That’s all.

this is incorrect. the 2 levels of blast barely matter imo.

this is the correct answer. blast is instant. it also helps with staggers and partbreaks. poisen does neither of these things. hence why blast is meta. poisen on luna was just meta because of lunas silly god stats at the time. but these days are numbered for good.

alatreon likely wont be meta for ls due to his ls by nature haveing dragon element dmg and elderseal. unless they massivly buff its raw and purple and give it lvl 4 slots or something like that it wont be anywhere close to raging brach or safi blast ls options.

mr kulve is the only other thing because it could allow the old NEB meta to raise from its grave if they overbuff taroth sword fire. but maybe only the kajarr ones are upgradeable. its hard to tell. pc gets kulve same day as console tough so we wont know till april 23th at the earliest. (this wont come out any sooner as we get raging and furious on the 9th. one week later makes no sense. may aswell release it all at once then for pc. and the 30th of april is a bit too late. plus safi siege ends on 22th. makes the most sense for kulve siege to return there aswell for its mr 4 player fight.

TLDR: Safi weapon raw data first, no «meta» or «best wep» stuff. It focuses on Element and Raw attack modifiers. Bowgun lists and special weapon augments are not covered.

I’ve been irritated with early 2020 documentation of Safi’s weapons. Yes, Honey Hunter’s buildmaker has all of these weapons and awakened abilities accurately documented, but if someone looks up «safi jiva weapon list» it does not exist anywhere at top search results, or is buried behind inside a long video, and that video may not detail the weapon you want, OR. it’s one of only 9 weapons listed as BEST LONG SWORD BUILD SAFI JIVA. That’s not informational or easy to digest if you want to collect and determine your own meta for weapons.

Here’s Safi weps in one easy to munch on list that you can view as a reference. I’d love to take another day creating an actual Google docs list with all of this info, but if you are the fellow nerd that does this, please feel free to reference this. This is all just material all in MHW Iceborne that I took a day to gather for people’s convenience, so I don’t feel wronged if you copy this info for your sake of ease and spreading this information.

If you want to know what to collect without looking at a picture, here’s the TLDR.

-All weapon types except for bow, light bowgun, and heavy bowgun have 9 weapon types for every element and status effect. All elements are the same value in each weapon class. Status has its own value sets.

-Bow has 6, the only status bow being blast
-Light Bowgun has 5, one for each element. Each has rapid for their respective element except for dragon element which has auto-reload on dragon (dragon LBG does have rapid normal 2)
-Heavy Bowgun has 5, 2 for element, 3 for raw

Ok that’s the collection bit.

Last bit of augment info- I won’t be covering special augments for each weapon class. I’d be here too long. These are just for value increases for raw and element.

-You can only have 1 slot awakened ability, and getting it to level IV counts as if it were 1 level VI boost.

-Sharpness V allows you to reach purple sharpness with handicraft +4. Going further potentially wastes other potential, but having 1 other level V gives 10 hits of natural purple.

Here is a legend in case something may be misunderstood. (I’m assuming you know weapon nicknames)

Atk V- boost from 1 attack V
Attack VI- boost from 1 attack VI
4 V’s- weapon damage total from for attack V’s
3V’s+VI- weapon damage total from 3 V attacks and 1 VI.
Full RAW- weapon raw (without any buffs or augs) with maximum attack awakened abilities

Base Elm- base element for each weapon
ELM V- element V awakened ability boost
Elm VI- element VI awakened ability boost
1V Total- element total if you just want 1 Element V boost instead of an attack V
Full Element- if you used maximum element boosts (no augs or element buffs)

Each base status is there, however status buffs aren’t covered due to the nature of how status is calculated. I placed two sets of it to the side for blast augment for gunlance and bow, but these numbers are so low that they do not compare to what else you could be possibly using. It only looks viable for gunlance status if you want to inflict your status a bit easier on pokes.

At the bottom of the list, I have a comparison chart for percent increases with different conditions for raw only.
The first can be pretty irrelevant, since I was just seeing how attack buffs percent increase compared to purple sharpness increase (which successively gets lower with each attack V you add, as attack is additive, not multiplicative).

Second, I show some no buff math to conclude that going for purple sharpness can lead to more damage for ultra high raw sets, but has heavy drawbacks if you can’t keep it.

I do not have the math for it, but super element may benefit from purple, but this might only be relevant for dual blades using a polisher jewel. Purple sharpness does give about a 10% boost compared to white for element.

THIS MOD REQUIRES THE STRACKER’S LOADER TO WORK

This mod is NOT intended as a cheat, but as a way to make Safi’Jiiva’s siege scale in stats, since the recon quest actually scales, but the actual siege doesnt and tbh, I don’t get why capcom keeps making some monsters not scale, its just a bad design at this point even for a siege fight.

The vanilla stats remain the same when you get on a 3 player party or 4 player party, but they scale down when you are in a 2p party or solo. As I said, this mod isn’t intended as cheating, so the stats don’t go really far down, just a small amount that compares to what other present scaling in the game are, like HP, which doesn’t go from 4p to 1p as a 25% decrease, but only a 50%, from 40k hp to 20k hp, because the game scaling for hp tend to go from x1.8 to x2.5 between quests, not a x4, and the x2 seemed as the more fitting to this siege. Same thing to the rest of the stats.

Important note: This mod works fine with other people when they dont have it at any circumstance except at a 2p party. Solo runs wont involve others, and 3p or 4p runs will have the vanilla stats, but if you want to do a 2p run of safi with this mod, both players need to have it for it to work properly, because if not, the stats would be different to each person and it could lead to a non-intended behaviour like a crash.

— Health goes from 40000HP in 4p to 20000HP in 1p
— Stun multiplier goes from 350% in 4p to 100% in 1p
— Part HP multipliers go from 350% in 4p to 140% in 1p
— Exhaust multiplier goes from 180% in 4p to 100% in 1p
— Status buildup and mount multipliers goes from 250% in 4p to 100% in 1p
— Base status tresholds, player attack and monster attack stats remain at the same values
