Skyui error code 1
Skyrim Script Extender
X:/Steam/SteamApps/Common/Skyrim Special Edition
Где (X) – диск, на котором установлен Steam.

Fix: SKYUI Error Code 1
SKYUI Error Code 1 is an error Skyrim players encounter when they have installed and are trying to launch Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE). SKSE is used for modding and is one of the extensive mod programs out there which isn’t meant for the normal user.
SKYUI Error Code 1
SKSE is still under development which is why users might encounter the error message every now and then whenever a new update is released for Skyrim through Steam. This error message mostly points towards two things: either you have not performed the installation correctly or there is some problem with the executable SKSE64.
What causes ‘SKYUI Error Code 1’ when launching Skyrim through SKSE?
This error message is very generic and can occur to a number of different users for simplest of reasons. Some of the reasons why this error message occurs are but not limited to:
Before you move on to the solutions, make sure that you have a proper installation of Skyrim on your computer which is updated to the latest build from Steam. Furthermore, you should also be logged in as an administrator on your computer.
Solution 1: Running SKSE64 as an Administrator
Like mentioned in the causes, Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) requires administrator access in order to get installed correctly on your computer. Furthermore, it also requires elevation whenever it launches because technically it is running on top of Skyrim on Steam. To do that, it requires more permission than normal applications.
Solution 2: Installing SKSE properly
If you have not installed SKSE properly on your computer, you might experience this error message. If SKSE is missing any files or have some modules missing, it will not be able to launch. Instead of giving the specific error message, it returns the generic error ‘SKYUI Error Code 1’. Here will go through how to install SKSE properly on your computer using two methods.
Using Mod Manager
Now after you have installed the archive, you would need to make a shortcut to SKSE64loader.exe and use this to start your game. MO2 users will have no issues since the loader is already recognized in it. WB users can easily copy the shortcut we created to the Apps folder in the MOPY folder so they can have the SKSE binary available in WB as well.
Installing Manually
If you are not using the mod manager, you can easily follow this manual approach and install SKSE on your computer. Here we will copy paste a few lines.
Copy these files and paste them to your SSE game folder. This folder is usually located at the following path:
Here (X) is the driver where Steam is installed.
These are two methods which are used to install SKSE on your Skyrim. However, we recommend that you make use of the first method (Using Mod Manager) since it has much stability and is less prone to issues.
Note: SKSE is in an alpha stage is currently undergoes several developments every now and then. Whenever a new patch is released, make sure that you update it to remove all bugs and to introduce new features.

[Quick Fix] SKYUI Error Code 1, SKSE Not Running
Many Skyrim players encounter the SKYUI Error Code 1 while trying to launch Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE). SKSE is a popular modding tool that expands both scripting capabilities and functionality for mods. However, every now and then, whenever a new update is released for Skyrim through Steam, players get the error message, stating:
“SkyUI Error Code 1: The Skyrim Script Extender is not running. SkyUI will not work correctly!”
If you’re also getting this error with SKSE64 not working, don’t worry. Follow this simple guide, and you’ll get rid of the problem in no time.
What causes ‘SKYUI Error Code 1’ when launching SKSE?
After a thorough investigation, we found the following to be the most common reasons for this error:
How to fix SKYUI Error Code 1, SKSE Not Working
Here are 3 solutions that’ve proved useful to many Skyrim players:
Fix 1 – Run SKSE64 as Administrator
The Skyrim Script Extender requires administrator rights to mod the existing Skyrim game. Here’s how you run the program as an admin:
1. Go to game’s directory, right-click on the SKSE64 executable file and select Properties.
2. Click on the Compatibility tab and check the box for Run this program as an administrator.
3. Click Apply > OK to save your changes.
Now launch SKSE again to check if the SkyUI Error Code 1 has been rectified.
Fix 2 – Tweak Mod Manager Settings
Sometimes the improper settings in your Mod Manager may trigger the SKSE not working issue on your computer. Follow the steps below to properly configure these settings and get rid of the issue.
1. Open your Mod Manager as administrator and go to Settings from the menu bar located at the top of the screen.
2. In the General tab, check all the boxes present under the Associations section.
3. Click OK and then restart the Mod Manager to make sure that the settings are applied.
Launch Skyrim through SKSE, and if the error still exists, proceed to the next solution.
Fix 3 – Install Skyrim Script Extender properly
It is possible that the SKSE is not installed correctly which is causing this error message to appear. You can fix it by installing the application properly on your computer using any of the two methods mentioned below:
Using Mod Manager:
1. Launch your favorite browser and download Skyrim Script Extender from the official website.
2. Open the SKSE64_2_00_17 folder and navigate into Data.
3. In the Data folder, right-click on the Scripts folder and select Add to archive from the menu list.
4. Now select this newly created archive folder and rename it to SKSE64-Scripts.
5. Next, install the archive using whichever Mod Manager you are using with Skyrim. This method works with Vortex, MO2, and WB.
6. After the archive is installed, you will need to create a shortcut to SKSE64loader.exe and use this to start your game. MO2 automatically recognizes this shortcut whereas WB users will have to copy the shortcut into the Apps folder, located in the MOPY folder.
Installing Manually:
If you are not using the mod manager, you can easily install the SKSE manually by following the steps below:
1. Download SKSE from the official website.
2 Open the SKSE64_2_00_17 folder and locate the following two folders and three files:
3. Copy the items mentioned above and paste them into the Skyrim Special Edition folder in your game’s directory.
Here, X is the drive where Steam is installed.
4. Now go to the Scripts folder inside the SKSE64_2_00_17 folder and copy all the .PEX files present in that folder.
5. Paste them in the Scripts folder that is located in your game’s directory.
6. Now you can make a shortcut of the game’s executable file on your desktop to launch it quickly.
We hope this guide helped you solve the SKYUI Error Code 1.

Awake at stupid o’clock
That’s because you never actually download SKSE64 from Silverlock.org.
Be sure to read the install instructstions, because all you did above was install a mod that uses SKSE64, but never installed SKSE64
Thanks, I did what you said and it all works out.

Skyui error code 1 как исправить
I recently decided I wanted to do another modded play through of Skyrim after not touching it for a while.
I use Nexus Mods and Nexus Mod Manager for all my mods so I installed the mods I wanted, many of which use SKSE, I updated SkyUI, as it was my only mod still on my NMM (Nexus Mod Manager) and after I went and installed SKSE from the website, and finalized everything.
When I started a new game I got an error message that said «SkyUI Error Code 1: The Skyrim Script Extended (SKSE) is not running. SkyUI will not work correctly.» I experienced several glitches at the opening sequence of the game including my alternate start mod not working. I also experienced a glitch of the horses and carts at the opening sequence bouncing around and the horses killing themselves, resulting in me getting stuck in one place and me not getting to Helgen.
I went back to the main menu, opened the console, and typed GetSKSEVersion, which gave me «SKSE version: 1.7.3, release idx 48, runtime 09200000
Could this problem be caused be an outdated SKSE? Would it be a good idea to install via steam instead?
Notes:
I know I installed the SKSE correctly, I also have the most up to date Skyrim, and have the most up to date SKSE from the website skse.silverlock.org current build on website is 1.7.3
Sorry for long post.
Steam workshop is bugged so install from another site if possible, like nexus.
And yes theoretically it could be down to an outdated SKSE, though I’m not sure what the latest version is.

I installed SKSE straight from the website, not using the installer bur rather extracting it with WinRar and moving the files to their appropriate place.
Also I use launch the game using the SKSE launcher and not the NMM launcher or the normal steam launcher
I believe with the current NMM you need to launch the game through NMM. Try the installer version.
Ahh, a messed up Enderal uninstall, that changes things.
1. Uninstall all Skyrim related tools. LOOT, NMM or MO, Wrye Bash, TES5Edit, etc.
4. If you already have a registry cleaner use it now. If not then CCleaner does a good job and has a free version. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
5. Shut down your computer, not just a restart but a full power down. Wait 5 minutes.
6. Reinstall Skyrim, Dawnguard, Hearthfires and Dragonborn. (If you had a vanilla game to begin with just validate the files.) Do NOT install the Official High Resolution Pack. From your Steam Library right click Skyrim and install. Once it installs it is a good idea to validate the files, just follow this guide. http://steamcommunity.com/app/72850/discussions/0/535150948617437868/
7. From your Steam Library launch Skyrim and play through the tutorial (you can use tgm in the console if you want). Once outside the Helgen caves make 5 seperate hard saves.

From your Steam Library right click Skyrim and install. Once it installs it is a good idea to validate the files, just follow this guide. http://steamcommunity.com/app/72850/discussions/0/535150948617437868/

SkyUI isn’t abandoned. It is ready. There is nothing more to be added there, unless something drastically changes. It has been that way for a very long time.
It sounds more like SKSE64 isn’t running correctly. I trust you installed SkyUI through MO2 and you are also running SKSE64 through MO2?
Down load SKYUI manually and add via mod manager
SKSE64 is this version
Current SE build 2.0.17 (runtime 1.5.97): 7z archive
(Make sure old version or new is removed prior reinstalling) Meaning the 2 SKSE DLLs and loader
Also open SKSE64 and zip Data folder and add it to game via mod manager
XPMSSE check to make sure correctly installed

Your right, I think I know what might be wrong, something in the recent file on the SKSE website isn’t the right version, the most recent version should be 2.0.17, the one on the website shows the version as 2.0.12
When you open the SKSE program there is a folder at the top called Data, zip and archive it and add it through MO2 into left pane (disc icon in MO).
XP32 Maxium Skeleton Special Extended (XPMSSE) may need to be set correctly. Found this may cause some issues if not set right, but this is only a check.
If not using FNIS then may not be needed.
There is no reason why game wouldn’t run SKSE scripts from Data folder, when being run through MO2.
However, Skyrim SE has apparently started to behave somewhat differently than 32bit game. I have no idea why and I have honestly dropped out a bit.
It might be worth to just recommend that players archive those scripts and install them to MO2. I have always done that myself, so. might have missed some problem there.

I’ve had skyui for about a week now and same as SKSE.
The error code says that SKSE isn’t running or it needs updated.
Is there some update going on with SKSE, SkyUI, or the game that I missed?
I doubt it was any of that. I have downloaded a few additional mods but this what a while ago (yesterdayish) and all was well.
Any help would be much appreciated! Let me know if you need any other info to help me with this. =D
Are you using SKSE as a standalone, or as Steam application?
Also, are you running the game through SKSE launcher? Steam should detect it from default launcher, but that haven’t always worked as it should.
I have SKSE through steam.
Also, I’ve been running the game through the Skyrim launcher..
(Thanks for the quick response.)
Then try running it through SKSE launcher. As said, Steam does not always recognize SKSE, if you use the default Skyrim launcher.
If that does not work and Steam version is acting up, then disable SKSE from Steam and install a standalone version from silverlock. They have installer version there.
Sorry. I completely forgot to reply, when another problem got in the way.
Try activating SKSE memory tweak, by creating the skse.ini file, as explained in the following post. You may just copy the example directly to your Notepad and save it as presented. Other information there is to tell what these tweaks are actually doing.

After further investigation (and a lot at that) the crashes were indeed due to memory allocation. This worked very well. At least so far. Thanks all!

SKSE doesn’t work | SKYUI ERROR CODE 1
I took the SKSE Data folder and just re-put it into my Skyrim folder, then poof no more problems. (running as admin and other things didn’t work for me)
Install skse was complete but Error Code 1 still popup. Run as Administration didn’t work for me? any other thoughts?
Install skse was complete but Error Code 1 still popup. Run as Administration didn’t work for me? any other thoughts?
Same here. It was working until I updated Nexus, now all I get is error 1
[SLOVED: Run skse_loader.exe as admin.]
I get the SKYUI ERROR CODE 1.
I installed it correctly, followed 3 different tutorials step to step.
I always get this error, since i play this game on pc (before xbox). Now i want it to work.
My Skyrim, SkyUI and SKSE Versions match to the Installation Guide of SKSE or SKyUI.
Skyrim: 1.9.32.0 | SkyUI: 3.4 | SKSE: 1.6.13
I already did a reinstall of Skyrim, i deleted everything that belogs to the game, even my savegames.
Also i noticed in the tutorials, after running the skse_launcher the game starts without the skyrim launcher.
If i run the skse_launcher i get a admin-request to start steam (but i am already logged in) and the skyrim launcher opens.
Please, if anyone had this problem or could know how to slove it, help me.
I deserve to, since i always give 1 gold to old veterans.
Excuse my english.
I tried to do all the fix/run as admin/reinstall possible and didn’t work.
After 2 days of headach i finnaly found how to get it work. Just came here to share!
-Take the Skyrim folder (all of it) out of the Steam directory and creat a C://game/ and put it there.
-Star the game using SKSE (Run as administrator), now steam will pop up and tell you that files are missing.
-Right Click on Skyrim in Steam, select properties and in the Local Files tab, select browse local files select the SKSE
again in the new Skyrim directory.
I did that and it worked. No more error 1!
I think it’s best to put Skyrim in it’s own directory to avoid conflict when using mods and all.
I tried both of these options, with reinstall via NMM and manual. Entering into the game «getskseversion» shows current version and is working as HDT physics and other Mods work.
Not sure where to go from here does anyone have any ideas or could help?
My SKSE Loader just says: Couldn’t find TESV.exe.
Can somepody help?
You must have the SKSE Loader in the same folder with the TESV
I have the same code SKYUI error code 1 I hope there is way to remove hole message out of the game
It’s crazy how long this issue has existed and keeps resurfacing! There are countless threads online (mostly outdated by new code releases) discussing it. Many of them have a kernel of truth, but most of them miss an essential point. However, let’s be very clear about a few environmental concepts first.
Yep. I have tried just launching F4SE directly, which then launches steam, but, that simply does not work. Launch Steam, let it do its thing, THEN launch the game from my shortcut, and it works perfectly. Same for Skyrim.

You may have to wait a few seconds for the configuration manager system to re-initialize.
Follow the steps below for the corresponding error code.
Different error causes, but the solution is the same: Install or re-install SKSE, either from http://skse.silverlock.org/, or directly from Steam.
One, or more, of your Papyrus INI variables are set to invalid values. There are several tweaking guides and INI generators out there that propagate setting these to out-of-range values. As a result, SkyUI or other event-based mods can start behaving erratically.
To fix this, open My Documents/My Games/Skyrim/Skyrim.ini with a text editor and reset the following values to their respective defaults
You may also have to reset these values in SkyrimCustom.ini, if it exists, which is in the same directory.
For details on the meaning of these settings, see http://www.creationkit.com/INI_Settings_(Papyrus)
There’s another mod that overrides a particular menu file SkyUI is using as well. You’ll have to pick one of the two mods. If you want another mod to be able to override certain menu files of SkyUI while keeping the rest, you can disable these warning messages individually in the SkyUI configuration menu (Advanced page).

skyui error code 1
Hey guys, im brand new to forums and stuff so im very sorry if im missing critical info or its not everything needed. I didnt even know what CTD meant until about 30 minutes ago while i was researching trying to figure out my issue. NOTE: while trying to write as detailed a post as possible i disabled all my mods and reinabled them one at a time to try to get a specific mod for support and noticed that without the widescreen patch for skyui I got skyui error code 1 when starting a game
versions: (everything is current at the time of this post)
Now, i know I have JUST started playing sse (i use to only play sle because no mods worked on sse originally and i never made the move) but i have a massive monitor and games need widescreen or everything looks bad and the taskbar gets in the way and a bunch of bs
point is getskseversion reports that i do in fact have skse installed and it is in fact running (i always start it with the skse_loader) but since i just started running sse i dont know if this is a «bethesda broke s*** again and you have to wait until everyone fixes it for the uimpteenth time» or if skse64 has been shelved or if skyui needs to be updated. or if god forbid i really did screw up the mod installs
Sorry if i missed a fix in my research and this is a dupe
EDIT: i just noticed that skyui se has not been updated since 2017 so it is likely not compatible with current version of skyrim se which was updated last month.

I recently updated my skyrim, and in the menu it says my current version is 1.9.32.0.8, so i assume thats latest update, and i downloaded the latest SkyUI and SKSE, but whats wrong now?

Sorry if this is a stupid/self-explainatory problem, but I really have no experience with Skyrim modding whatsoever.
Are SkyUI and Amazing Follower Tweaks somehow incompatible? The problem seem to be missing files, if I understood the error messages correctly?
I tried re-installing SkyUI with NMM already, but the problem persists. Disabling Amazing Follower Tweaks in the mod menu also doesn’t seem to help.
Load order is:
AmazingFollowerTweaks.esp
SkyUI_SE.esp
SKSE version: 2.0.6, release idx 55, runtime 01050170
Code 5 means that a file is overriding SkyUI’s. It can be on purpose if you installed map/inventory mods (QD Inventory SSE, Pastel Map Markers, etc.) and if so you should just uncheck the warning in the MCM.
If you didn’t install that kind of mods, check Data/Interface folder for loose files. Then delete them or try to find which mod installed them (SkyUI files are packed in a BSA so it isn’t SkyUI). Maybe 60 FPS Interface (as far as I know, it isn’t necessary with SkyUI since its files are set to run at 60 FPS in SSE).

This can happen if these mods are not deployed correctly, you should check that. For me I use vortex it happens to me a lot when I installed a mod and did not redeploy the mods.

Secondly, a quick google search shows the solution to this.
You’ve got SKSE64 installed wrong.
All of the EXEs and DLLs from the SKSE64 zip should go in the game root directory, right alongside the Skyrim.exe
The DATA\SCRIPTS folder in the SKSE64 archive should go in the Game DATA folder

Sky UI Error Code 7
So I’ve been having a SkyUI error code 7 message pop up every time I load a character on Skyrim.
I’m on the most recent versions of Skyrim, SkyUI and SKSE and have all the DLC. I have about 20 mods but nothing that drastically changes the game.
I believe it (the error) is preventing a couple of mods from working correctly. Also the MCM doesn’t work either. When I click on it in the system tab of the pause menu it just shows the MCM logo. I’ve reinstalled SkyUI and SKSE a couple of different ways but it hasn’t worked. I’ve also googled for SkyUI error code solutions but I can’t seem to find anything.I’m not sure if this is the same problem causing both or if they are separate issues but help for either would be greatly appreciated Thanks!
ugh skyui.jpg 75.89KB 8 downloads
ugh MCM.jpg 63.29KB 7 downloads
It’s the same problem. The MCM can’t work without the SKSE scripts.
If you’re using Mod Organizer you may not have the resources loading in the right order. The STEP team have some instructions for installing SKSE with Mod Organizer that you should read.
There’s also a How to Install SKSE (non-video) guide and plenty of other video guides, I don’t care for many of the video guides because they make the process far more complicated that it needs to be by having you package the SKSE scripts and install them through a mod manager.
Daoris Path of Light Modder and Leader
Did you extracted the interface bsa in the data folder?
If you did that is where your error is comming from.
I am having this very same problem, I have tried every one of these suggestions to fix it and nothing changes, I played it for about 4 hours with that error and the game ran fine (some mods weren’t working to their full potential, but game was running fine otherwise) then all of a sudden I logged into the game, got this same error and when I clicked ok, I had every available action available except for the mouse looking option, I don’t turn, look up or down, can only walk in a straight line or strafe left and right, but can’t turn, also if I open my menu (items, map, etc) and exit out of menu, my screen goes baby blue and can’t see anything at all but baby blue.
I have tried uninstalling completely, reinstalling a fresh install of the full game (tested it and runs absolutely perfectly), then freshly installed all the mods (9 in total, not counting SKSE), once finished, tried opening one of my saved spots, same issue, no changes. The only ones I can load and still pan with the mouse is an old save from before I even tried using mods, however I still get the error 7 and guessing it would be a matter of time before I lose the panning feature again.
I have checked to see if SKSE is running on the first screen when entering the game, where you select continue by using the
key and typing getskseversion and it shows skse version: 1.7.3, release idx 48, runtime 09200000. Also says the SKSE version when I go into the quit screen when I am quitting out of the game. Please can someone tell me what is wrong and how to fix it? I have spent the last 4-5 hours trying various different solutions I have seen in various different sources and nothing is working so far.
ok, so I loaded up the original skyrim loader, unchecked skyui (disabling it) opened up the game using the skse loader and the game ran perfect, no errors, nothing, I reinstalled the skyui mod and then ran the game again using the skse loader and got the error again with the same panning issue, what is wrong with the skyui mod? do I have it installed incorrectly, does it have issues in the files? I have no idea what the problem is, but I do know now that the problem absolutely with the skyui in some way, hopefully someone can help me with this issue
SkyUI error code 7 isn’t about whether SKSE is running (if you’re getting that error it is) it’s about the SKSE script files not being installed correctly. Without the script files the SKSE functions SkyUI (and many other mods) need won’t actually be available causing all sorts of problems.
The typical problems people have are simply not installing the SKSE scripts correctly, people letting Steam refresh their game files (which overwrites the SKSE scripts so you need to reinstall SKSE each time), having a bad configuration entry in the archive section in the game’s INI file, or using Mod Organizer and having the resources loading in the wrong order. In my first post in this thread I linked two guides that should help you get the SKSE scripts installed correctly and the SkyUI FAQ lists the specific INI entry that can cause problems.
ok, I fixed the error, when I log in, I no longer get the error 7 notice when I log in, I had to install MO and use it to organize my mods which seems to have removed the error, I can even open the mod option in the esc menu. However, I log into the game, I mouse around for about 2 secs and it locks, I open the items, map, etc menu and exit it and the screen turn a solid color, nothing else. Here is a list of the Mods I am using, maybe someone can give me help on this.

is there a way to organize the mods without using MO? So that I can load from the skse loader and not have to run the MO to run the game.
After reading your posts, I looked over the installation (which I have done 15 various ways), none of that was my problem, however after installing MO and seeing if that would help, it made the difference in the error message, but not in the skytweak issue and now to play the game, I have to have skytweak disabled and have to run the game through MO.

— While SkyUI requires SKSE, it is not SKSE plugin as such. It uses Elder Scrolls Plugin file. This means that load order comes to play.
The problem you are describing is usually not happening because of poor order, but there are rare cases where overwriting scripts have made SkyUI unable to properly detect SKSE. To fix this problem, make sure that your load order is set by LOOT.
— Make sure that you have Steam open and active, before using SKSE launcher. Otherwise Steam will launch the game without SKSE. Otherwise scripts are not properly included to your game.
— If neither was your problem, then either SKSE or SkyUI was not installed properly, or something is wrong with their files. Reinstall SkyUI and SKSE. See Gophers (a bit old, but still valid) video about SKSE installation, if you are unsure about doing it correctly.
If you need any help, then ask.
It looks like everyone here don’t actually know how they solved their problem. Because of that, the issue will come back to hunt you guys for sure.
I first got this issue through a guide: i had to overwrite my skyrim.ini’s with an optimized preset to make my game run at 60 fps.
Well, come to find out that those 2 skyrim.ini presets had something disabled in them which actually prevents me from using sky ui or skse correctly.
I forgot what it was in the ini, but i know i always back-up my ♥♥♥♥. So reverting to the old ini files was the fix for me.

Conversation was from 2015. I believe that everyone has moved to manage their FPS through applications or ENB binaries since then.
I have no idea why anyone would overwrite Skryim.ini file with any other INI-file anyway. Each computer is unique, so tweaks are unique as well. I believe that you would have gotten better result by visiting STEP forums and edited your settings manually, as per their explanations.
You might want to try that, if you encounter more problems with FPS. 🙂
I think what you refer to is Error Code 4. I do not see that error code in this thread. That would pointed to invalid Papyrus fixes in INI-files, which had potential to cause the problem.
I don’t recall any other vanilla INI-tweak causing issues with SKSE. I might be forgetting something, but none of my notes or quick search didn’t bring up any cases.

SKYUI ERROR CODE 1 (SKSE is not running)

‘SKYUI ERROR CODE 1’ (please help)
I’ve followed gophers video exactly on how to install SKSE and I’ve even installed it as a mod but every time I go onto skyrim, it comes up with a message saying that I’m not running SKSE. I have the latest version of skyrim and I tried installing SKSE both through NMM and replacing the Data file. Please help!
Make sure you are launching the skse_loader.exe, not the default TESV.exe.
Make sure you are launching the skse_loader.exe, not the default TESV.exe.
As far as I last knew, SKSE is not designed to be installed through NMM. Download the latest version of SKSE into a folder, extract the files to the folder then copy the skse files to the game directory (i.e. \Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim). NMM will automatically detect SKSE. In NMM, there is a drop-down arrow next to Launch Skyrim at the top, left corner. Click on the down arrow and select Launch SKSE to run Skyrim.
Both options are available: NMM and manual installation. The error comes up with both. There’s no question that SKSE was installed correctly, but SkyUI fails to detect it after launching through SKSE. It appears that SkyUI is incompatible with the latest SKSE, or perhaps with some specific combination of patch and operating system (Windows 7 Home, 64-bit). The SkyUI interface is still present, though I don’t know what elements don’t work when it fails to detect SKSE.
Skse_loader.exe needs to be run as administrator and you need to disable any anti-virus programs from looking in your Skyrim directory. The latest version of SkyUI works with the latest version of SKSE on Windows 7 and Windows 8. The problem is not with them.
Running as administrator, Users and Administrators have Full Control. I had not seen mention of anti-virus in any other thread on this subject, and thank you. That’s a somewhat ominous requirement and I haven’t a clue how to do that with Norton Internet Security or SUPERAntiSpyware. Any idea if this is likely to clear up the significant lag when opening the inventory? I’m starting to wonder if SkyUI is worth this much trouble.
Excluding drives, files or folders in Norton Anti-Virus:
SkyUI works perfect if you have SKSE installed properly.
Inventory lag can be caused by using carry weight increaser mods.
Excluding the Skyrim folder from Norton seems to have done the trick! This also solved the lag problem.
Thanks for the help!
I have the most bizarre error with my current modding experience.
SkyUI defines error 1 as an issue with an SKSE install. However, when I launch my Skyrim SE (using NMM and then selecting SKSE) and attempt to start a new game, I am met with ERROR CODE 1.
This wouldn’t be an issue by itself. However, whenever I use the console command ‘GetSKSEVersion’ it will always come up positive, informing me that I am currently running version 2.0.7 of SKSE. This means that SkyUI is somehow not seeing that I have SKSE at all, since the game itself tells me that I am running it.
If that wasn’t enough, I can actually start a game and play as usual. When I select my inventory, it will freeze for about 5 seconds and then present me with the SkyUI interface, as if there was no error at all. So I’m here scratching my head wondering why:
1. SKSE isn’t being detected by SkyUI when it blatantly says it is running
2. It takes 5 seconds for the SkyUI Interface to show up when the error code was given, being a huge annoyance when trying to play
Solutions I have attempted:
-Running SKSE/NMM as an administrator
-Re-installing both SKSE and SkyUI after the error was detected
-Running SkyUI as my only mod to try and see if there were conflicts

I recently decided I wanted to do another modded play through of Skyrim after not touching it for a while.
I use Nexus Mods and Nexus Mod Manager for all my mods so I installed the mods I wanted, many of which use SKSE, I updated SkyUI, as it was my only mod still on my NMM (Nexus Mod Manager) and after I went and installed SKSE from the website, and finalized everything.
When I started a new game I got an error message that said «SkyUI Error Code 1: The Skyrim Script Extended (SKSE) is not running.

The first rule of modding will come in.
You have not read as you was told, second you cant remove SkyUi after you have installed it and play on, you WILL break your game.
Read the link I did give you, follow the guides there.
And do as it says there.
It is not that hard you dont need to be one rocket scientist for doing it. And start Skyrim from the extender, you may also have need for one Achivment enabler to.
For some reason I see so many with SKYUI problems and it’s fairly easy if you take some basic steps. Take a look here

andrej did you know you can now install skse64 with Vortex and that is it? I have not done so yet as I am stuck in my ways lol but you can and there is a video by Gopher that shows how easy it is.
The video uncle gave you is great but it’s a tad outdated for new mod users only because there are now easier ways. I used Apoqsi videos myself and he’s spot on and to the point. The way I install it the past few years is different as I archive my data folder that comes with skse64 then install that part of it with mod manager. BUT like I said, now you can 100% install SKSE64 with Vortex. The video is in the SKSE64 guide I gave you.

TLDR; launch your Steam client before SKSE64
We’ve all seen this at some point and there are countless threads online discussing it. Many of them have a kernel of truth, but most of them miss an essential point. However, let’s be very clear about a few environmental concepts first.
The second major issue that people thrash over is where they’ve installed their games and mods. It’s perfectly fine to install Steam itself in the default location of C:\Programs. However, this is less than ideal for your games and mods. Windows security is very picky about security privileges in systems directories. Script injection engines like SKSE64 (and mods that depend on them) do a couple of things that require admin privileges.
1) If your normal Windows login has admin privileges (very poor cybersecurity practice), then you’re home free and everything will run fine if installed in C:\Program (or anywhere else).
2) If you’re logging into your PC with a non-administrator account AND you installed your games in C:\Programs, you’re going to need to follow the admonitions of the various threads and use the properties tab of the SKSE_loader.exe to «Run this program as an administrator».
3) You really should install Skyrim, SKSE and everything other game on a separate drive or partition. This enables all of the executables to function normally without needing elevated privileges and keeps you less vulnerable to rogue mods and other threats.

skyui is the best though Make sure you are running SKSE and not skyrim launcher.
I did it until 3:39 am. Installed and done. I can not get further

I hate to labern again and again the prob — okay hier it is:
SkyUI always tells me that my papyrus settings are wrong. I do not know what it is.
And here are my ini-settings:
Please dear schlangster remove this nerving error message from SkyUI or tell it SkyUI-Team. This cruelty is build in since version 3.2.
Reseting the papyrus doesnt wörk. I have already done nearly everything but nothing helped. This is pity because this mod is very useful. SkyUI seems (though error messages) to wörk correctly.
And another thing: I hate to write in English (hätten we won WW2 than this prob would not be there)
I have already written that I have done SkyUI Troubleshooting and this
DOES NOT WÖRK
Whether reseting Skyrim INI and PrefsINI to default or modifying it with your recommended settings DOES NOT WÖRK.
Other ones: what is your opinion why SkyUI always to insist upon that are user papyrus settings are always wrong? Please post complete program code.
It is right there in your first post.
That is why you are getting SkyUI error 4.
Change those 3 settings to the ones I gave you and error 4 will go away.
If you spent some of the time wasted typing multicolour rants full of angst and emotes on actually trying the advice you are given, people like me would be less likely to think «I’m not going to bother helping this ignorant pig-headed fool again».
I noticed that this error can also be triggered if your SKSE scripts have been partially overwritten. This can happen, if Steam restores the original scripts for whatever reason and you don’t re-install SKSE after that. What happens in this case:
A slow-boiling frog that eventually jumped.
You have set ridculous values for your Papyrus memory settings and corrupted your savegames.
I have tried this already, and this does not work.
You are the one that I want to talk to. Thanks for your advice. And how could I solve this problem? How can I re-install SKSE? And this is not the only problem what I got. I have noticed that Mods like «Deadly Dragons» are not configurable anymore (does not appear in ModConfiguration). What should I do so that SkyUI works correctly? Please dear schlangster tell it more in detail and for mod-learners.
A slow-boiling frog that eventually jumped.
By following the installation instructions in the SKSE readme.txt
Or by watching this video
both which are linked from the official SKSE page
Or is there another chance that I am able to make SkyUI «DeadlyDragons» to recognize again?

SkyUI SKSE problem
SkyUI and SKSE were both working fine for me until I installed the Nexus Mod Manager. The problem is that, after launching SKSE (which should go straight into the game and skip the launcher), the launcher would start up and make sure the mods are synced, and then entering Skyrim would produce the SkyUI Error Code 1 indicating that SKSE wasn’t running.
Running SKSE as an Administrator fixed the problem, but created others. My mouse button config wouldn’t work with Skyrim at all.
Go directly to the Nexus Mod Manager main file folder. Right click > Properties > Security tab. Click on the «Edit. » button underneath the Group or user names: box. Select «Users» in the top box, then make sure the following Permissions are Allowed in the bottom box:
You don’t need to check off «Special permissions». Or rather, I didn’t need to.
im having problems when installing skyUI version 4.1
im running the latest version of skyrim ( i believe its 1.9.32.0)
and the letest version of SKSE 1.6.16
and AM installing the skse mod correctly
BUT skse is saying that the scripts arnt installed and iv’e re installed and removed and re installed the mod 5 times over and it wont work
i dont know what to do any more please help me!
This solution worked for me, so I’ll share. I got the same error that prodigyskill has. I also made the changes instructed in DukeFred’s suggestion.
«SKYUI ERROR CODE 1

In response to post #8757310. #8765315 is also a reply to the same post.
My account setup is a non-admin in Windows 7 Enterprise. When I downloaded the latest SKSE and installed it in the main Skyrim folder, Run as Administrator was already checked. I highly doubt I installed SKSE incorrectly, so after exhausting my options, I just unchecked the Run as Admin option and voila. I just couldn’t go back to the regular interface anymore! I had to get SkyUI working!
Do not use «Run as administrator» option for Steam. It was reason.
This worked for me! You are a genius! Thanks so much for posting this. I had tried everything and then saw this. Thanks.
Hi i had the same problem and i fixed it after hours of trying many methods! Sorry if I’m re-posting the same fixes, just want to help people out in the same situation because it sucked.
So my problem was whenver I’d load a game of Skyrim i would get the:

2. Re-install Manually ( I did it automatically the first time)
To install manually watch this video:
3. Run Steam In Background (Greenluma)
5. No more error code
(IGNORE the fact the video is old, the same method is still used)
Also try unchecking and checking the Admin box in SKSE propoerties.
How to Fix SKYUI Error Code 1
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, developed by Bethesda Game Studios, is a Fantasy Role-Playing game (RPG) that lets the users add custom modifications (mods) to the game with the help of extensive mod programs like the Skyrim Script Extender.
Sometimes things may not work out as expected and show you error codes. If you wish to use the SkyUI mod, which helps you play the game with a mouse and a keyboard and also modify the screen size. We’ll help you deal with the SkyUI error code 1 in this article.
What causes the SkyUI Error Code 1 issue?
The Skyrim Script Extender is used to add mods and includes more functions to the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim video game on a computer. If there are certain troublesome factors that can prevent you from launching and using the SkyUI mod installer, you will face a small window that specifies the error code of the problem and some details about the issue.
In case of the error code 1, these are the possible situations that can cause the SkyUI Error Code 1 when the SKSE64.exe is launched on Windows:
Methods to fix the SkyUI Error Code 1
Fixing the SkyUI Error Code 1 on Windows
Before you follow the below steps, make sure that the skse64_launcher executable file is named “SkyrimSELauncher.exe”. If you have the Skyrim Special Edition and try to use the Enderal mod, you will need the 2011 Skyrim version to avoid compatibility issues.
Run SKSE64 with administrator privileges
The Skyrim Script Extender tool needs administrator privileges and elevation to run properly as it draws the application on top of the Skyrim application and the Steam application. This means that for the extender to perform overall these applications, it needs higher access than other applications.
These are the steps to provide admin privileges to the SKSE64:
After following these steps, launch SKSE to see if it works properly without the error message.
Reinstall the Skyrim Script Extender application
If the SKSE has not been properly installed, it might lack some necessary files for the addition of mods. You will have to install SKSE properly again to fix this issue by making it work correctly.
These are the two ways to perform the SKSE installation correctly:
C:/Steam/SteamApps/Common/Skyrim Special Edition
This is the default location. Adjust this directory, accordingly.
C:/SteamApps/Common/Skyrim Special Edition/Data/scripts
You will need archiving software to create this.
The Mod Manager fix
There is a way to fix the SkyUI error code 1 error message using the Mod Manager tool. This is what you have to do:
Shift the game folder to a new location
If not, create a new folder named Games and move the Skyrim folder into this location.
This should stop you from seeing the SkyUI error code 1 error message again when launching the mod application.
The Work-around
For this workaround, you will need the Skyrim Script Extender and the SkyUI. This workaround is quite simple if you follow these steps:
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I fix Error Code 1 on Skyui?
To fix the SkyUI Error Code 1, you can reinstall the SKSE on your computer, and change the location of the game files in the computer from the default steam directory and use steam to detect the change in the file location. You can also open the plugins text document and simply place a * before the names of the installed mods in them, as a workaround.
How do I fix Skyui?
The best way to fix any SkyUI error is to provide it with administrator privileges. Right-click on the application > select Properties > Go into Compatibility tab > Check the Run this program as an administrator. You can also uninstall and install SKSE again, in case you haven’t installed SKSE properly.
Why is SKSE not working?
SKSE may not work properly on your computer because of the absence of admin access, incorrect installation, and misconfigured settings. This issue can also come up when the game is not installed correctly, in the correct location. If it doesn’t work, you’ll see the SkyUI error code 1 error message.
How do I launch Skyui?
To launch the SkyUI, launch the Skyrim Special Edition game and press Esc to open the pause menu. Under the save section, click on the Settings and then go into mod configuration. Here, you’ll be able to add and manage mods to the game, directly. To avoid the SkyUI error code 1, you need to be installing SKSE properly on your computer.
Skyui error code 1 как исправить
SKYUI not working
I tried to take SkyUI in use, but i just doesn’t work.
I have the correct (i suppose) version of SKSE installed (skse64_2_00_12) and i installed then SkyUI_5_2_SE-12604-5-2SE.
Now when i load the game and open the inventory i get «SKYUI ERROR CODE 5, incompatible menufile»
and «skyui/inventorylists.swf» and «skyui/bottombar.swf».
I first made the mistake that i installed the wrong version of SkyUI (i didn’t know there was an own version for Skyrim SE) but i removed those files.
When i installed SKSE there was no folder Data/Scripts under my SkyrimSE installation, but i created that folder. SKSE seems to work fine.
What is the issue with SKYUI?
Actually i know now what caused the issue. I’m using a 3440×1440 display and i installed the current Data/Interface folder to fix issues related to the normal UI and wide screen.
Renaming that folder fixed the SKYUI ERROR CODE 5, but now i have the issue that SkyUI doesn’t understand my screen resolution.
I found this https://www.nexusmod. /1778?tab=files but there is nothing about 3440×1440.
It seems that i have to give up for SkyUI at least for time being unless someone knows a solution for this.
I install my mods manually without MO or Vortex, Don’t question why but I just prefer it.
Hope this fixes your and anyone else’s problems.
Thanks a lot for this advice, it really helps. But does anybody know why this is happening? I have to repeat this process everytime i instal new mod.
Thanks a lot for this advice, it really helps. But does anybody know why this is happening? I have to repeat this process everytime i instal new mod.
It’s happening because the game’s «Mods» tab disables SkyUI- that’s why it is un-asterisked in plugins.txt. You can fix it manually all you want, but every time you use the game’s «Mods» controls it will re-disable SkyUI.
There are two ways to permanently fix this:
I install my mods manually without MO or Vortex, Don’t question why but I just prefer it.

THANK. GOD. Finally someone gives me something I can try other than «Install a mod manager». Literally every other option was that. And since the launcher got rid of the «data files» part in SE. this was the only thing that worked. Thank you.
Something that worked out for me it was closing and reopening the nexus mod manager after installing the SkyUI
For me Borderless window mode was causing issues with SkyUI. Changing to full screen solved my issues.
Worth a try if you still have the issues.

Fix SKYUI error code 5
SKYUI is an PC-friendly UI mod for Skyrim which is an action role-playing video game. It has many advanced features and was developed by Bethesda Game Studios. The good thing with it is that all its advancements and improvements easily integrate with the original interface.
Its version 5 has better crafting, enchanting, alchemy and smithing menus with many other advancements with a feature rich panel that enhance full-text search, sorting and extended data columns. But it is not completely fault free, the users face issues like SKYUI error code 5 which is a common error and could be solved easily. The common symptom of this error is whenever the user is playing and open up favorites, spells or inventory, they got an error message saying SKYUI error 5 with incompatible items. This problem can be resolved by a fresh install.
The common reason of SKYUI Error Code 5 is a file overriding SKYUI. If the user has installed map/inventory mods like QD Inventory SSE, Pastel Map Markers etc. he should check the warning in MCM otherwise check Data/Interface folder to find any loose files. Either delete those files or find out which mod has installed them. Also, disabling the favorites menu in the mod manager section from the settings will work out.
Another reason, for which SKYUI_SE gets disabled is when it has no master file set or there is an issue with bethesda’s in the manager of game mod. When the user tries to load the game and go to the mods menu, SKYUI gets disabled. A third-party manager will also work out if the user has decided to use complex mods such a skse and SKYUI.
Also There is very much possiblity that you might be facing an Internal Network Issue. In this Senerio,
SkyUI Error Code 4
Upon trying to load a game, I receive a SkyUI Error Code 4, stating that my Papyrus INI settings are incorrect.
I have no mods besides the Skyrim Legendary Edition, SKSE 0.1.6.16, and the latest SkyUI.
This is my Skyrim.ini file found in my documents folder:
If anyone knows why this is happening that would be great. Another thing, is the MCM menu has no options, even when I run the game with mods that most certainly use SkyUI.
*EDIT*: Deleted my Skyrim.ini file and it fixed it.
It seems so simple, but this was my fix as well. Fixed files for 11 hours before i deleted the skyrim.ini. Thank you.
Hey. it says the same error (error code 4) but i have no skyrim.ini. i have 3 fimilar files
ive tried deleting all 3 of them (together and saperatly) and nothing changed. still get errog 4. anyone can help me please?

Are you looking in the correct folder. Its located in your MY DOCS folder. mine is here>>>E:\Users\Dark\Documents\My Games\Skyrim
The Game folder, where Skyrim_default.ini is located, is the wrong folder.
the problem is that Memory stuff you put on Papyrus section, don’t know why though.
I don’t have a skyrim.ini file.
It’s this line in the Archive section:
That forces the game to use the original game scripts and ignore the SKSE scripts. I don’t know why anyone ever thought it was a good idea to completely reverse the game’s logic on how resources should be loaded but that setting has been showing up a lot lately. Remove that line or change it back to a value of 1.
I had a title once, but I forgot what it was.
I don’t have a skyrim.ini file.
Then the game cannot work. A Skyrim.ini file is required or lots of things in the game are just not possible. My guess is you haven’t looked.

Is there any solution?
This may be a shot in the dark. but you might need SKSE64, who knows.
PS: Seems you also have to launch it from the SKSE64_Loader
I struggled with this for about 3 hours. Tried 3 different mod managers, all of them still didn’t load side. Turns out all you had to do was start SKSE64 as an admin.
I’m sending this message if it can help someone who looks for it. I have been looking for the error for 3 days, and in the end I solved it in the following way: changing the name of the exe of skse64_launcher.exe by SkyrimSELauncher.exe and replacing it.

solarr
Ну хз, может SkyUI не той версии
Теперь работает? через сксе нормально запускается?
airstorm

SKSE/SKYUI: Potential false error code 3.
So, I’ve spent about 48 hours straight trying to work around a problem I have been having. I’m uncertain of what it actually is, but here’s what I THINK I know.
The game is also NOT pirated. This I DO know.
Here’s what I don’t know:
This is my load order:
My settings are ultra quality.
My operating system is windows 8.
This is my scripts folder:
I have used the installer of SKSE.
I have used the installer for SKYUI on the Nexus mod manager.
Game: Skyrim: Legendary edition.
If it is needed: Here’s my skyrim install directory:
Please help me fix this.
To confirm: The game tells me that the SKSE scripts are out of date and I may not have installed them or updated them.
You need to run BOSS and make sure you’re running skse_loader with administrator privileges and turn off any anti-viruses from looking in the Skyrim directory.
It seems like your mods are in order halfway through but SkyUI is at the bottom when it shouldn’t be. This could very well be a load order problem.
You need to run BOSS and make sure you’re running skse_loader with administrator privileges and turn off any anti-viruses from looking in the Skyrim directory.
Anti-virus software depends. The stuff built into Windows 8 has never had any quarrel with my Skyrim folder, and will actually leave my stuff alone (it asks me before it bans stuff from running). So if you’re on Windows 8 and not running a resource-hogging unnecessary alternative AV program, the anti-virus thing doesn’t quite apply.
Well, I’ve run BOSS and it set Skyui’s place differently. Everything else is the same. Skyui is now the 12th mod loaded.
The problem has not gone away or changed.
Perhaps I should change skyui’s place manually? How far up or down should it load?
Start a new game with 0 mods. Save at helgen. Enable skse and skyui and check if its working.
If no reset your skyrim folder back to original either bei new install or using the step guide to revert to vanilla and try again.
Without extra mods I now get error code 4.
Error code 4 there is a thread about this:
Oh man, thank you for linking that. I actually got everything to work.
I am having the exact same problem, Error code 3 keeps staring me in the face every time I load one of my save files. I tried changing SkyUI’s load order to the top, but it didn’t work. It all started when I got an error code saying that SKSE was outdated, and that I needed to upgrade to the newest, supported version, 1.07.03. It worked fine until today, when the error message popped up. I tried reinstalling SKSE, didn’t work. Tried reinstalling the older version. Didn’t work. I looked at the Readme of SKSE and went through the steps, and in the process noticed that the exe. files for SKSE were missing. How do I get it back? Please help me.

I’ve updated the SKSE to version 2.0.7 ans SKIUI 2 seems to work fine except for an error code three message and the MOD menu configuration not working. I moved the SKYUI as high as possible in the load order, and re-copied my SKSE data folders into the SKYRIM SE data folder. Is there something else I can do? I am not very good with computers so please make any suggestions as simple to follow as possible.

Thanks all!

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition
never had a problem with the two working together but it seems like you have it now working.
is it a Code 5 or something like that?
Usually means there’s another mod/file that is overwriting a menu file that SkyUI is using.
Usually you either have to pick one of the two mods or, depending on what they are and of course how your game is running, you can disable the warning messages individually in the Advanced section in the SkyUI MCM
I’m surprised few people know of the search bar (or your choice of search engine). Since you don’t specify what mods you are using or what error code it is giving, here’s the official guide on it.
Edit: The mod will not give an error code 0, it doesn’t exist in the thing’s script.
yep listed right on the mod page and in the pinned topics in my SSE help guide.
I’m surprised few people know of the search bar (or your choice of search engine).
You don’t have to read to mod, and that’s besides the point. Though reading may make it easier/ faster.
The point is he didn’t give us the exact error code or what other mods he’s using that may conflict. Any other UI mods would obviously be suspect. It could also be ini settings. Without the proper code, he can’t really be helped.

«Another mod seems to be overwriting one of this module’s essential files. Please ensure you’re using this module’s version of scripts/ski_playerloadgamealias.pex.»
I’ve read it’s a common issue but that it doesn’t really affect anything as far as I’m concerned. Maybe I should «fix» it, maybe I shouldn’t, that’s what I’m asking, if I should.
For me SKUUI simply disables itself and refuses to load.
Otherwise SKSE64 works fine, shows it is loaded on the load/save game menu.
No error message. The SKSE log does not even show SKUUI on the list of mods even though I enable it on the mods window, and the game reloads.
There is no inbuilt issue between SkyUI and SKSE. Several members of SkyUI contributed directly to SKSE/SKSE64 development, so code between them is as clean and stable it can get.
I do not use a ‘mod loader’, I move the files directly to the data folder.
If I extract the BSA, it works fine. So, the issue is the game does not like the BSA file and assumes there is no data to go with the ESP, so it is disabled.
If I add the BSA file to my settings or extract it, the mod ‘works’ sort of, but is slow, taking upwards of 2 seconds just to open my inventory screen.
I do not have ‘third party’ files or applications, as I run my computer very clean. Also, this is a new computer I built, where on the old computer SKYUI worked fine. That was an old i7 with IDE drives, where I now have an i9 with M2.SSD drives.

So, i installed skse64 for special edition today, along with a few mods that require skse.
Then, when i go on and start up skyrim and try to go into my inventory (or any menu that uses skyui except for mod config) it gives me an error msg, error code 5 wich means that either there is an existing version of the mod from before, or there’s a mod conflict.
Here’s the thing though, i tried disabling every single mod except for skyui, and i still get the problem, also i don’t have any other version of skyui anywhere on my pc to my knowledge, just searched for any other possible skyui files, so. i just seem to be stuck with the old skyrim menus, if anybody can help or know anything about this, i’d be grateful.
Also, happy new year.
I had a problem with SkyUI, the way I fixed it was by editing the plugins.txt file manually and ensuring there is a star beside the plugin name.

Fix SkyUI Error Code 1
SkyUI is a mod designed for Skyrim. It enhances the user interface for PC users by adjusting the screen size and making the game playable with the use of a mouse and keyboard. The mod lifts the overall look of Skyrim, an action-role play game. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an award-winning best game of the year 2011 developed by Bethesda Game Studios. You can play the game solo or team up with your mates, both versions are great. Users usually encounter the SkyUI error code 1 after installing or trying to launch the Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE). The SKSE is a specific mod program developed for the player of the game Skyrim.
SKSE is not a fully perfected program and is undergoing development, which causes the mod to experience error whenever a new Skyrim update takes place through Steam. What does the error mean? It usually indicates towards one of two things, either you have not installed the update correctly or the executable SKSE64 has become corrupted.
What leads to the SkyUI Error Code 1?
Now, what are the causes of the error? This is a general error that can arise at any point of time due to a number of minute reasons. The two we have identified that users across platforms agree with are:
Before we proceed with the fix ensure that the game is installed correctly and is updated to the latest version via Steam. Also, you are the admin of the PC and are using the admin account and not Guest.
Fix 1: Run the Program as an Administrator
As mentioned earlier, this game requires that you run it as admin, so run SKSE64 as an admin and ensure that it always open as an admin. Here are the steps to do it.
Launch the program and check if the error message is still visible.
Fix 2: Install Skyrim Script Extender Correctly
Now, let’s take care of the second cause that could be giving rise to this error. Reinstalling the SKSE has fixed the problem for most users, so follow this step exactly as instructed. Here are the steps.
With these two methods, you can easily fix the error code 1 in SkyUI.

SKYUI ERROR CODE 1, pause opening menu, SKSE64 working for other mods.
After trying to install SkyUI on Skyrim SE I get «SKYUI ERROR CODE 1» on startup saying that SKSE64 isn’t installed properly.
SKSE64 is being run as admin.
getskseverion returns in the main menu and other mods depending on SKSE64 are functioning. SkyUI is functioning normally other than the strange delay.
I’ve seen some other comments about this, but no solution that works for me. Has anyone found something?

Hi friend, I apologize since I do not speak your language, but I had the same problem I hope you understand.
After all installation is just go in the folder where the game is installed, and run it by » skse64_loader.exe »
I hope it all right

I’m using a DS4 but have also tried with a keyboard and an Xbox 360 controller and they didn’t work either.
Only follower mod is Amazing Follower Tweaks and disabling it didn’t do anything. Neither did disabling Controlmap Fix, Better Dialogue Controls, Better MessageBox Controls or messing around with the controls section on the menu.

Hey guys, I just bought The Elder scrolls skyrim, and wanted to download some mods.
I wanted to download SkyUI and read it required SKSE Script extender.
So, I watched this video, and followed the steps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-l2nzKhqHAk
I succesfully installed LOOT as well.
LOOT says, that my SKSE is working, and I can launch Skyrim via the shortcuts and everything without crashing the game.
However, when I try to download SkyUI, it first of all doesn’t let me use the NMM direct link.
It says:
«Unrecognized Game Mode
Nexus Mod Manager is not set up to work with Skyrim.
If Skyrim is installed, rescan for uninstalled games from the Change Game toolbar item.»
when I do this, I get the same error over and over again.
when I try to download it manually, it gives me this message:
«This report informs you about potential problems with your SkyUI installation.
————
Problem #1:
————
The Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) is not installed.
Solution:
Get the latest SKSE version from ‘http://skse.silverlock.org/’ and install it.»
what do I do now, I have no idea how to fix this!
Anyway, thanks for your help guys.
[Edit] I tried to install Race Menu and then start skyrim from SKSE launcher, but then the game wont open, as soon as I deleted the mod, I could play again. I assume that SKSE is just not working for me. /

SkyUI Compatibility error: 4.1, not 5.1
the mod itself works fine, but I downloaded a mod called ‘A quality world map’ through nexus as well, and while its supposedly supposed to be compatible with SkyUI in some way, whenever I start the game and open up my map, it says that there’s an error with SkyUI and its versions, saying that its version 4.1 and not 5.1. I reinstalled the mod, nothing happened. I checked the in-game mod configuration and it said that it was 5.1, but the error still continued. I reinstalled ‘A quality world map’ and this time configured it so that the compatibility feature would not be present, and my game crashed when I opened it. I tried installing SkyUI through steam workshop, and my game crashed. if I were to actually be asking a question, it would be these two: how are these two mods compatible? does it really matter at all? because if its not necessary I would like to just ignore it (both mods work perfectly fine if you don’t count what they do when put together, so if I don’t need it I don’t want it) if its actually useful I would like some help. Second question: How do I fix this? Simple question, long answer. I hope you guys can help me! Thanks
The map menu didn’t change between 4.1 and 5.1 so just go into the advanced page of the SkyUI MCM and turn off the warning about the map menu and everything will be fine.

I get an error message saying skse64 isn’t running. But when I check it shows skse64 version 2.0.15. I checked in the system menu and shows skyui version 4. But I downloaded version 5.
Any idea how to fix it?

*Simplified* Go into the Skse64 Folder File, (where you copied and pasted the files into the Skyrim special edition folder, where you access from steam by browsing the games files.) and click on data, copy the script folder file, and paste it into the data folder in Skyrim special edition file.
Not sure what is going on. I am not the most computer savvy person, but just cannot get SKUI to be recognized and work. I have used it for a long time, but my hard drive crashed and I had to reload everything. My old game will not work and neither will a new game. Of course I am getting the famous Error Code 1. I have many YouTube videos on how to correctly install but nothing has changed. When attempting to open any saved game (yes I did a clean save and it worked, but when the mods are activated it shuts down). I get these four different error codes:
«moreHUD: SKSE is not Detected!»
«SKUI ERROR CODE 1
The Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE64) is not running.
SKUI will not work correctly!
«RaceMenu Error(s): You are runnign SKSE Version 0.0.0.0 expected 2.0.7.56 or greater. NiOverride plugin not detected, various features may be unavailable. «
Of course all of this worked before the computer crash. and I had no help. Now nothing. Do any of you know of a good resource that will give me a step-by-step way to get this up and running. I am about to just uninstall Skyrim and move on out of frustration.

Fix SkyUI Error Code 1 [Solve with Verified Techniques 2022]
Getting the error message SkyUI Error code 1 while trying to launch the extended edition of Skyrim (SKSE) has been quite common nowadays. Still, getting any kind of error seems irritating, no matter how simple the solving methods are.
Here, in this article, I will be sharing the most efficient solutions I had tried when I encountered the SkyUI error.
But, knowing the causes of facing the SkyUI error should be your initial interest.
So, What activates the SkyUI error code 1 on your computer?
So, how are you planning to get rid of all the issues? Keep reading if you still haven’t thought it through.
But before that, go through our epic guide on How to Fix Minecraft Not Update Error
Why do I keep Facing SkyUI Error 1?
The SkyUI error is not complicated as you thought it would be. But the point is, an error shouldn’t be solved without investigating properly.
There are several reasons behind encountering SkyUI error 1 on Skyrim SKSE. Following the previous section, I will be explaining the causes briefly.
Here are the possible reasons behind SkyUI error 1:
These are the most common reasons why you face error code 1 on the Skyrim script edition. Check out the following section if you are still interested in solving the error efficiently.

How to Solve SkyUI Error 1 in Skyrim?
Now that you know why you are having the issue in Skyrim let’s fix the problem with a proper workaround.
Before you do that, I must remind you that you should follow the methods in an orderly. Don’t jump between the methods randomly; that would weaken the potential of solving the issue. My recommendation would be; Implement a method then test whether it provides the desired output or not. Move on to the next if that doesn’t.
Here are the methods to resolve SkyUI error 1 in Skyrim:
Method 1: Run SKSE64 as an Administrator
It is extremely important to have administrative access to the Skyrim script extender, as explained earlier. Higher access permit than the regular application is required if you are to install additional files in the game.
Here are the steps to run SKSE64 as an admin:
Relaunch the SKSE now and check if error 101 has been settled.
Method 2: Install Skyrim Script extender64 Properly
If you haven’t installed the SKSE64 appropriately, you will likely face error 1 while launching the game. Here, I have arranged two sets of techniques you can utilize to install the SKSE64. You can choose either one of the aptitudes.
Here are the procedures to install the SKSE64 adequately:
With Mod Manager
Follow these steps to install SKSE64 with the mod manager.
You are all set. If this method seems a little complicated, try following the manual installation technique.
Manual Installation
Manual installation is always satisfying if you are a techie like me. Track the following steps if you want to install the mod in your preferred way.
Here’s the process to manually install SKSE64:
Launch the game from the desktop application and check if the issue has been rectified.
But before that, go through our epic guide on Fix Roblox Errors on macOS & MacBook
Method 3: Change Settings in Mod Manager
If the settings of your mod manager are faulty or not compatible with the game files, tweaking the settings might change the scenario. No matter which mod manager you are using, you can modify the settings in the following order.
Here’s the process to tweak in mod manager:
Relaunch the mod manager and ensure the applied settings have been executed perfectly. Hold on! Your error 1 on SKSE is about to be adjusted.
Method 4: Move the Game Folder to Another Location
If the game directory can’t seem to find the mod location, SkyUI error 1 will probably find you. For avoiding such incidents, move the game folder to another location.
Here are the steps to move the Skyrim folder:
Executing this step should help you with the SkyUI error 1 when launching the SKSE.

Method 5: Edit the Skyrim Directory Files
Editing a few txt files in the game directory will help you to get rid of the issue. If you don’t know which files to edit, keep reading this method.
Here are the processes to edit game files:
Relaunch the game if you have successfully implemented every step.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is SkyUI not working?
skyUI won’t work if you don’t provide administrative access to the script extender. Additionally, if the SKSE64 mismatches with the skyrimSE.exe, SkyUI won’t work properly.
Do you need SKSE for SkyUI?
SkyUI does not work if you don’t use the SKSE. So, SKSE is a must for SkyUI.
Is Solving SkyUI error 1 going to be complicated for me?
You can simply re-install the SKSE and find out if the error has been gone.

I just installed the SE edition of Skyrim, and I cannot get the SkyUI to work. I have the newest SKSE installed and using the loader, but I think it is SkyUI that is the problem. It disables it on the mods list every time I restart the game.
Does anyone know what the issue might be?
I’m not really sure if it is the SKSE that has a problem with SkyUI or if it’s the other way around.
I’d imagine it is because Skyrim SE updated on Steam because of the creation clunk.
You’ll need to youtube a guide on rolling back your skyrim SE to the version that your SKSE was created for.
Keep in mind I said I imagine that is the problem. I am not certain.
I have my Skyrim SE set to no longer accept clunk updates and it is working for me.
Its going to come down to people deciding whether they want to use the script extender or Bethesdas Creation Clunk.
The easy answer is stop updating SkyrimSE until SKSE updates and use the Nexus for mods. Otherwise you will have to keep Skyrim SE updated for Bethesda mods and break your script extender constantly.
Its a no brainer for me. Sorry Beth.

That is not the case, the current SKSE64 2.0.6 matches the current skyrim SE version (1.5.23). That said if that were the issue he wouldn’t be able to start the game at all, using the SKSE64 launcher, it would jsut throw a popup stating something about the game version being wrong compared to the SKSE64 version (a while since last update, so dont remember exactly what is said).
Now sadly never had an issue like this, uses SKSE64 and SkyUi and both works perfectly for me and always has (as long as I keep backups of old SkyrimSE.exe for when the updates happen), so cant really help otherwise with a solution
EDIT: did you use Nexus Mod Manager to install SkyUI? (should use that for ALL mods you use really). Should also use LOOT (Load Order Optimzer Tool), if you dont already.
Also check if you have a «skse64_2_00_06» folder in your Skyrim SE’s game folder. in that case you basically need to take that things in there folders and files and move it on up so the files go directly into the Skyrim SE folder and not the subfolder it is in, and the folders in there should then merge with the respective Skyrim SE subfolders

SkyUI saying SKSE is not working.
Yeah, I got that. We should all know what this is by now, At least I do, all too well now.
So, I have been tooling around with this now for two days, here is the deal.
With me so far? Good. Now, I install SkyUI and run the game.
Uh oh, Error code 1.
Now what? What is going on here? I know for a fact I did this correctly. I have done it before with Skyrim(oldrim), hundreds of times. And in the last 2 days I have unistalled my skyrimSE and reinstalled it twice. I have tried this in so many different combinations. I even tried doing this all through Mod Organizer 2 and still I got nothing.
I am stopping just short of declaring that SKSE is broken, but only because I know there are people who it is functioning fine for.
Honestly, I wouldn’t even know that SKSE wasn’t functioning properly if SkyUI had not told me so. I mean, the game is launching just fine using the SKSE loader shortcut/exe. If I remove the SkyUI mod I have no evidence at all that SKSE is not working.
And even then, when I am in game, despite the warning, SkyUI mostly functions, except an insane 3-5 second lag when opening inventories/chests.
And by the way, just in case you are wondering, SkyUI and SKSE are the ONLY things I have going on right now and will not go any further until those two mods are working properly. Also, just to squash this before it is even brought up, the inventory is not even remotely full, we are talking about rag armor and rag shoes, and that is it, even before I pick up the dead guy’s equipment.
When I Google the problem I get topics on full inventory and incorrect installation of SKSE, but neither of those apply to me, as my inventory is not full and I have obviously installed SKSE correctly and run it as administrator.
-SkyUI5 is installed via the NMM AND/OR MO2 (both and both are tossing the error code 1 message).
-Nothing in inventory to lag the inventory, I haven’t even unlocked the door yet.
-ONLY SKSE64 and SkyUI are installed, with absolutely nothing else.
-Nothing, not Steam, not the NMM, not MO2, not anything to do with any video game is installed in a windows controlled folder, everything is installed in a custom folder on my PC, C:\Games
-And as to my computer, well, I am running a GTX 1080 8gb, 16gb DDR4 RAM and i7 7700k and my OS is on an SSD. More than enough to crush this game, hell I can record in 4k while the game is running with no noticeable problems.
So I need some help here people. Got any suggestions that have not been covered in Google searches?
Your best bet is probably to leave a note on the Posts tab asking what that particular error code means.
According to the Skyrim version of SkyUI, the recommendation for Error Code 1 is to reinstall SKSE, which you’ve already done. It could be that the version of SkyUI you’re using doesn’t recognize the latest version of SKSE.

The problem with this is that the only place I can post is to the SkyUI page. And it seems their standard response is «if there is a problem it is with SKSE». And when the error code pops up for SkyUI, it makes it absolutely clear what the trigger of the error code is, its says it is because SKSE is not functioning. Which is odd to me because the skse_loader.exe operates just fine, int hat it boots the game, at least.
The most frustrating part is that I can hop onto YouTube right now and see people playing Skyrim Special Edition with mods, including SKSE and SkyUI, just fine, with no problems at all. And I have done what they have done yet it is not working for me.
However, I suppose, I will go into the archived builds of SKSE and dig up something slightly older than 2.0.7, maybe try the older 2.0.4, which is the minimum version that is listed for SkyUI as compatible.
Edit: 2.0.4 is not compatible with the current build of Skyrim Special Edition itself, so I will just have to do some further investigation. Though, I am beginning to think I may have messed up somewhere, somehow, that the problem may in fact, in the end, be me.
I have no idea what’s causing your problem but can say SKSE64 2.0.7 works fine with the latest SkyUI so it is your installation. It’d be a pain but I’d just start again from scratch and move steam & skyrim out of x86.

To be honest here, you are the exact reason why I haven’t posted to the mod page itself. #nothelpful
This issue is resolved. And just in case you were wondering, the problem is very vaguely stated in my original post. If you are observant enough you will see it as clearly as I do now. Such a stupid mistake on my part, especially given all the experience I have and how many times I have done it in the past.
A free cookie to anyone who can find my error. I will check back in a few days to congratulate anyone who observed my error, I even bookmarked this page so coming back will be easy. See you in a couple days.
Without further information, it’s pure guessing. Please be more specific.
In general, exactly follow the installation process as described here. Basically, this tutorial contains everything you need to know about SKSE64:
thats the tutorial i followed, went ingame and it said its running fine (as shown in the video) but skyui wont install, says skse is not installed. same problem ive had for a bit, done a few reinstalls of the game and etc. any ideas?

SOLUTION FOR ME WAS:
1) Make sure u have SKSE Installed
2) Make sure u have SkyUI Installed
3) Open Plugins.txt in (C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Skyrim Special Edition)

For example here is section from my Plugins.txt

This worked for me! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
I had this problem, and I found that the plugins.txt was not the issue for me, it looked how it was supposed to already
I fixed mine by copying the src folder into Skyrim Special Edition>Data
skyui error code 5 favoritesmenu.swf
hey i’m new to the forums here so i hope i posted this on the right spot :3
when i start TESV with skse launcher (via NMM) just normal nothing wrong,
i press continue to play then first time when i open my quick favorites menu with Q(default)
then i get the error code 5 favoritesmenu.swf that the file is corrupted or damaged or whatever
and everytime i restart the game and go into favorites i get this error tried reinstalling with NMM and deleted it completly from the mods folder
even last update didnt fix it either anything
any solution or anyone els is in this situation
this is what the SKYUI mod tells me to do (what i did allready)
Error Code 5: Incompatible menu file.
There are two potential causes of this error.
You didn’t uninstall an old version of SkyUI before upgrading to 3.0 or newer.
Make sure you really removed all traces of older SkyUI versions, then install the new version again.
Installing SkyUI with the Nexus Mod Manager can help you with that, because it will detect and list conflicting files from SkyUI 2.2 and 3.1-alpha.

I have the same issue but my favorites menu is all fudged. Pretty sure option B is the likely culprit.
Now to go about solving it. well I’m still a bit new at this lol
Same problem but this is a fresh install, I’ve never had Skyrim let alone SkyUI installed before.
I had the game freshly installed and the newest SkyUI freshly installed. Everything worked well. After I installed the Categorized Favorites Menu Mod I had the same issue. After unistalling it the problem was gone. Do you guys also have Categorized Favorites Menu installed?
I’ve found the solution. Well it’s not evene a real problem 🙂 You have to disable the favorites menu of skyui in it’s MCM menu. See also this thread:
Thanks so much! I was having the same problem as well (brand new install of Skyrim + SkyUI). I turned off the notification like others suggested, no more pop ups. Nice to know it isn’t something that actually impacts functionality!
Alright. i have yes tried uninstalling and re-installing, both skyui and skse several different ways.
2: skyui installer says skse is not install, i have tried several different ways of installing skse and still didn’t work.
3: i can not fully uninstall skyui thru NMM / or manually, i have tried.
If anyone would like to give me a detail list of what i need to do it would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. i have watch enough youtube videos to make you go cross eyed, and search my OS, PC, programs, files, folders, downloads, and so on to make myself sick. also i have windows 8.
EDIT: I went and checked my backup game and found I was incorrect. There is an interface folder created by game. But all that is in it is a translate file. Nothing else. Been awhile since I have looked. So forgot about this. All other info is correct.
I’m having this same issue, but only happens when I open the map. I have SkyUI 4 and Warburg’s paper maps mod. It started doing that recently though, so I don’t know.
