It was used as an alternate maintenance screen starting in 2009 but was also the screen when Roblox was forced offline besides maintenance (connection issues, DDoS, etc.).

It has 6 buttons, each one containing a letter and spelling out «ROBLOX»; clicking on any of the buttons would reload the page.

From 2014 to 2015, this page would be seen for a short time before you would be redirected to the then-latest maintenance page, presumably so Administrators could log in. And if you visit this link, however, it is no longer officially used by ROBLOX.

ROBLOX is down for maintenance right now.

This maintenance page is first known to have been used at the start of August 2014 and was last officially used towards the end of the year.

This maintenance page still exists, and you can see it if you visit this link, however, it is no longer officially used by ROBLOX.

There is no exactly known time range as to when this maintenance page was in use due to the lack of records.

ROBLOX maintenance is complete. You must restart your browser to get into ROBLOX.

The third one only appears after maintenance is finished. This tells players to restart the page, but may sometimes not work on the first try. This page will pop up when the first servers on Roblox go back online. It is the same image as the former login screen but with the words «BACK ON TRACK«. The third image is no longer used since September 2015, and Roblox no longer has a maintenance completion screen since then. The end of the maintenance page still exists, and you can see it if you visit this link, however, it is no longer officially used by ROBLOX.

The fourth one was an early variant, likely used in early 2015 as seen here. This specific maintenance page had Builderman wear the «OH NOES» hat, similar to the maintenance screen in 2008. This maintenance page was replaced with the second image when maintenance occured on April 7, 2015.

Quick, Pretty and Easy Maintenance Page using Cloudflare Workers & Terraform

Maintenance pages are a neat way to inform your users that there are operational changes that require downtime. Cloudflare Workers allows you to execute Javascript and serve HTML close to your users and when Cloudflare manages your DNS it makes it easy to create a Worker and let it manage all traffic during a maintenance period. This makes a great solution for smaller teams/applications that do not want to invest time into creating and displaying maintenance pages. Terraform is a tool that enables provisioning infrastructure via code and it integrates great with Cloudflare APIs.

Cloudflare Worker

The Worker’s javascript is simple and it is found and explained in depth in this blog post. The snippet forwards the request to the Web Server if the connecting IP is whitelisted, otherwise it returns a html response that you’ve defined which in our case is the maintenance page.

Terraform

We’ll now use Terraform to create the script and to create the worker route. Creating a worker script with Terraform can be done with the cloud_worker_script resource:

All users that visit the /maintenance/ path will be shown the maintenance page except the whitelisted IPs.

Terraform Module

The solution presented above is neat, although we’d like a resuable module. Therefore, I’ve created a Terraform module that does the creation and deployment of a Cloudflare Worker. However, for the module to be reusable we need dynamic html content as:

Cloudflare supports key/value storage which we can define in the Terraform module. We’ll adjust the previous cloudflare_worker_script to add the key/value storages:

Question: Q: «Store Unavailable. The store is currently down for updates. We’ll be back shortly.» Error when trying to Buy Book.

I’ve made a photo book project in the new Photos app and when I click Buy Book this is the error I receive, «Store Unavailable. The store is currently down for updates. We’ll be back shortly.» This has happened for the last 24 hours or so.

I have had this message for two days now!! Had my books returned to Apple as they do not deliver to the Channel Islands so trying to get them delivered to my daughter in London and she will have to post them again to me. Daft! But now I cant even order them! Apple say check your updates are up to date and my computer says they are. Shall try the adress retype but please Apple show us your supposd IT expertise and get your postal system and Photo help up to date. I see this has been going on for years!

Seriously considering not buying Apple next time. I also do not like how they do not pay tax!

Same issue here! Very Frustrating. I called apple support and they said the servers had too much traffic. They asked me to try early in the morning. which i did but still no use!

Two days later and still the same problem as have many others. Have retyped address as suggested by some and put in London delivery address, all updated but no joy.

Apple Support to the rescue! I talked to a photos application expert named Rob. He asked me to reboot into safemode, type a command into terminal in safe mode which unfortunately I didn’t write down and even if I had I would be reluctant to pass it along in case it caused other issues. That fixed everything. He said that there was some third-party software that can cause this issue. Once that was removed everything seems to be working again. Rob said that Apple is working on this issue. My advice is to contact Apple support and ask to speak with an application specialist. My faith in Apple has been renewed.

Yes, I would like like to echo that. My problem was that Photos (2.0) gave the “Store unavailable” mistake and “Print Product Store Account” was greyed out. Apple support took me thtough the following steps:

Make sure payment info is correct

1.4 Check Payment info

1.5 Open App Store

1.6 Buy something for free and install (if that works, payment info is correct)

2. Delete certain cookies in the system

2.1 Boot in safe mode

2.1.1 Shut down Mac

2.1.2 Start holding down Shift key (at least until Apple logo appears)

2.1.3 Login screen should show “Safe Boot” in red in top right corner

2.2 Open Terminal

2.2.2 OR you can try spotlight search

Note: My MacBook Pro 2015 ( MacOS 10.12.6)

2.3 Copy the following command

/Library/Containers/ com.apple.Photos /Data/Library/Cookies

2.5 Open Photos, see if you can order, if yes, do it now

2.6 Restart normally, issue was fixed for me

Final Note: Obviously, this is just my experience, and things can go wrong when doing stuff in Terminal, so use at your own risk.

Cloudflare: No Maintenance Mode Still a Maintainace Mode

There are many cases where the website should be temporarily brought down like Moving server, reboot, software upgrade that requires an outage, you name it. It would be natural and logical if Maintenance Mode could be turned on for the customer visiting the website should display a static landing page to all users trying to access the website.Cloudflare by default do not provide any maintainace mode.

But we can create our own maintenance mode easily with help of CloudFlare workers feature.

In Feb 2018 Cloudflare announced the general availability of Cloudflare Workers, a new feature which compliments the existing Cloudflare product which permit the execution of JS(JavaScript) at the edge of Cloudflare’s CDN prior to the request hitting your own web server.Basically, Cloudflare Workers provides a lightweight JavaScript execution environment that allows developers to augment existing applications or create entirely new ones without configuring or maintaining infrastructure.

For CF workers to work we need to create a simple rule which intercept the request, if the contents of the cloudflare’s connecting ip header is a trusted IP address then allow them to website for testing purposes and if not then show the static Maintenance page. (replace XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX with your trusted ip and mail@example.com with your mail id. )

2. Add the above rule into the script body and save.

3. Select the Routes tab and individually add the routes you want to display the maintenance page. (Note: We can also create exceptions as wild card entry)

Now you can only have to toggle route button to enable Maintenance page whenever required.

I had to rebuild my Rackspace VPS last night where my Django app runs as I wanted to downgrade it because it was underutilized. Since I was already at the lowest tier for that category of servers, there’s no option to resize it down, I would need to spin up a new server from a different server category.

Thanks to Ansible, though, provisioning a new server with all the applications and configurations I needed only took about 5 minutes. But because of the new public IP that was assigned to this server, I had to change the A record for my domain which could take hours to fully propagate across DNS servers around the world.

I configured Nginx on my old server to display an “Under Maintenance» page while I wait for the DNS change to take effect. I figured this is something that would be really nice to be able to turn on and off quickly so I looked for a solution to do so.

Here’s the solution I found (my configuration is a little bit different from the original source):

1. Create a custom maintenance page and call it maintenance_off.html

I forgot where I got this example from, but here’s what I use:

What the configuration above will do is to check whether a file called maintenance_on.html exists in the specified path and if true, Nginx will return a 503 error.

‘Down for Maintenance’ error in WHMCS? Here’s how to fix it

Maintaining business systems can be really hard.

When it comes to Billing software like WHMCS, periodic reviews and upgrades are required to integrate new feature enhancements, advanced security updates, etc.

Upgrades work well in most cases. Sometimes, the WHMCS database version conflicts with the release files version and result in errors like “Down for Maintenance“.

At Bobcares, we often resolve such errors as part of our Outsourced Technical Support for web hosts.

Today, let’s see the top 2 reasons for the WHMCS error “Down for Maintenance” and how we fix them.

What’s WHMCS error ‘Down for Maintenance’?

When the WHMCS software is updated, the message “Down for Maintenance” is displayed.

This prevents changes to the data during the upgrade process.

WHMCS compares the version of PHP files with the WHMCS version in the database.

If any mismatch is noted, it assumes that an upgrade is in progress and the maintenance message is displayed.

“Down for Maintenance” – This status message is helpful during an upgrade process. But, what if you see this message all the time? It’s quite annoying.

What can be the problem? Let’s take a quick look.

‘Down for Maintenance’ error in WHMCS – Causes & Fixes!

Based on our experience in managing servers and providing support to web hosts, let’s see the common reasons for this error and how our Support Engineers fix them.

1) Maintenance mode enabled in WHMCS

We’ve seen cases where web hosts enable Maintenance mode during WHMCS upgrade process.

This prevents users from accessing the client area and displays the custom maintenance message set by the web host.

How we fix?

Our Support Engineers disable the Maintenance mode from WHMCS panel using the below steps.

Setup > General settings > General > Uncheck the ‘Maintenance mode’ check box

How to disable Maintenance mode?

2)Version conflicts

This error can occur if the version of the WHMCS database doesn’t match the version of its release files.

For example, the files uploaded might be for version 4.4, but database hasn’t been updated and is still in version 4.3.

The files to perform database upgrade are present in the WHMCS “install” directory.

We’ve seen customers upgrade WHMCS without running the “install.php” script in the install directory.

As a result WHMCS database hasn’t been fully upgraded or not upgraded at all.

Result is “Down for Maintenance” error all the time.

How we fix?

i) First, we look at the WHMCS core files like init.php and cart.php and check the version number.

ii) We, then compare the version number to the WHMCS database version from the tblconfiguration table using the below command.

iii) If the database is from a newer version than the PHP files, we’ll download and upload the full release files of the newer version from WHMCS official site.

iv) If the PHP files are from a newer version than the database, we’ll upload the /install folder and run the upgrade process once again.

v) Once the upgrade is complete, we remove the /install folder from the server.

That’s it. Everything should be working now!!

Conclusion

WHMCS upgrades are necessary to keep the system secure. Sometimes, the WHMCS database version conflicts with the release files version and result in errors like “Down for Maintenance“. Today, we’ve discussed how our Support Engineers fix this problem.

i got this message maintenance mode.

I got this message after restoring glpi database im currently using glpi 9.1 Sorry, this service is down for maintenance. It will be back shortly.

Here is my installation step.

1. sudo apt-get install glpi (im using ubuntu 14.04)
2. delete the folder /usr/share/glpi
3. download glpi 9.1 and extract to /usr/share/glpi
4. setup glpi using new installation
5. after installation is done I delete all tables in glpi database by using phpmyadmin and import my glpi database backup using import tools in phpmy admin. succesful operation.
6. i logout to glpi and try to login and i got this message. Sorry, this service is down for maintenance. It will be back shortly.

the other way that i still got this message
same step to 1-4.
5. after installation is done I place my glpi backup generated by glpi maintenance utility into /usr/share/glpi/files/_dumps and restore the backup files. After succesful restoration of backup i get this message again when i try to login again.

Im using apache2 and mysql with php5.6/5.5 got the same result.

Redirect when server is down for maintenance and back when up?

I’ve got a main production server hosting multiple domains call them site1.com, app.site1.com, and shop.site1.com ( I am using nginx as the web server).

I want to redirect to another domain, say, maintenance.site2.com, when the main production server (site1.com) is down (for maintenance, when i’m staging upgrades, or when something just straight up fails).

I’ve seen several posts mentioning solutions in this arena for windows based servers, however, I am running all Linux servers on multiple cloud providers (digitalocean and vultr).

I am the only member of my company’s «tech» infrastructure and DNS is not my strong suit. Can someone please point me in the direction of the solution i’m looking for? I’m afraid I just don’t have the right google keywords to find a solution.

So, my question is exactly this: When my main production server is down, how do I point my DNS to a simple static site on another domain and then once the main domain is active again, point back?

А я-то думаю, почему в «каталоге» новые работы не появляются с 20 февраля.

Явно глюк. Я картинку заменить хотела. Удалила легко. А вот загрузить третий день не удается.

Я очень скучаю по иллюстраторсу.

Странновато как-то всё это выглядит. Ведь функциональность сайта напрямую зависит от возможности добавлять новые работы. SSRS: App_Offline.htm, taking site down for maintenance

There is much simpler and graceful way to shut down a site while doing upgrade to avoid the problem of people accessing site in the middle of a content update.

Basically, if you place file with name ‘app_offline.htm’ with below contents in the root of a web application directory, ASP.NET will shut-down the application, and stop processing any new incoming requests for that application.

SSRS has two web sites: Report Manager and Report Server. This means that the “app_offline.htm” web page has to be deployed to both web sites in order to bring the SSRS web site down for maintenance.

ASP.NET will also then respond to all requests for dynamic pages in the application by sending back the content of the app_offline.htm file (for example: you might want to have a “site under construction” or “down for maintenance” message).

Then after upgrade, just rename app_offline.htm file to app_offline_html or delete app_offline.htm file…and the site would be back to normal.

Just remember that the size of the file should be greater than 512 bytes, doesn’t matter even if you add some comments to it to push the byte size as long as it’s of the size greater than 512 – it’ll work fine.

Edit, also beware of a similar named site who is actually scammer, theres a site with almost same URL and same page, please be careful as this is a scam from others i have heard there only 1 xiam and hopefully it will be up shortly ( i wanna play OW but i can’t be bothered without xaim running )

Ever since the update to Firefox 57.0 (64 bit), and even though I click the exit or shut down button on Firefox, every single time I launch Firefox, I get, «Sorry, We’re having trouble getting your pages back.» page instead of my homepage. I usually am not interested in restoring or starting on the pages I last looked at when I last used Firefox. I would much rather start at my homepage instead. What can I do to fix this?

Under Privacy settings, I switched my History settings to: Firefox will use custom settings for history Then I checked «Clear history when Firefox closes» and now every time I close and reopen Firefox, I get my homepage (which is set to Google Advance Search) and the annoying «Sorry, We’re having trouble getting your pages back.» is gone. I had my history set like this originally before the update decided to switch all my stuff back to default.

Thanks Firefox Dev team for resetting my privacy settings to defaults. I don’t appreciate having to go through my settings, trying to remember what I had things set at before your update reset them for me.

Type about:preferences#general in the address bar.

There are two settings;

When the browser is started, what do you want to display? Many of us choose Show My Home Page.

When a new page is opened, what do you want to be displayed?

You can use any of these that you wish;

about:home (Firefox default home page), about:newtab (shows the sites most visited), about:blank (a blank page),

or you can enter any webpage or about: page you want.

Hey everyone, we have been down for a good 2 weeks now, but as of about noon today, I was informed that our server is FINALLY ready, so we will begin moving to our new server, which can handle the massive amounts of push notifications that we distribute on a regular basis, as well as new articles. We are currently on a very unstable old server which can barely handle what we have.

So, during this week, you may see our site go down again, edited, and all. This is because we are moving to a new server.

Hopefully, we will be back on Monday December 6th at full speed again. We are also getting ready to announce some pretty exciting stuff here soon, so we’ll keep you updated on that as well, but that’s all I will say today about that.

So thank you for sticking with us during this very bleak time in which we have been unable to do what we do. However, we have not stopped working for a second, as you may have seen, I have periodically been posting YouTube videos on our channel as well as tweets on our Twitter account, while we get back on our feet.

Angel: trust us, we missed you guys too. We’re working hard in finishing the transfer and everything, but it looked very bleak for a while. We had NO back ups left when this thing happened. All of our hard drives went “boom”.

We have a new server and are working to getting as much as we can get, back online, as well as our Push Notifications system & our emails as well (which are totally gone, good thing I have a back up of my emails on my Mac).

We’ve been trying to keep you guys up to date on our situation, but I’m really glad that people stuck around with us even in our most bleak of situations, thank you very much! 😀

However, we’re not just coming back empty handed, we are almost ready to announce our latest creation, something that we’ve been working on since about January. It is a major update to our most popular product.

We’ve been working on it since January because if you were to see our development process, we scrapped it a few times and really shuffled around a ton of ideas and designs that aren’t even close to what we have as a final product today, internally.

I wanted us to really get this right and think you’ll all be pleased. 🙂

We’re really sorry about being down for about 2 weeks now, these have been very sad and frustrating times internally as well. Sawpaw: lol, sorry to say but all of those emails were for nothing. Our mail servers went down as well as I had said before. I’m sorry. I’m stressed about all of the emails that people have sent us the past 2 weeks or so, they were never delivered to us. 🙁

Here’s what I can do, since I don’t know your email address (I usually get an email giving me details of who comments and the email given, etc. but since I have no access to that information yet, I’m going to have to ask people to just send me a direct message through Twitter.

I have a site/theme running on server-1: http://www.j-dsgn.nl/Test1/

It is originally nightclubbing Theme from oxwall and I adjusted the theme settings and adjust some theme files (images).

Next I installed also oxwall succesfully on my server-2 true my cpanel:

Owall was default availlable true my cpanel to install so i not had to install it true FTP server.

Next i exported with the oxwall export plugin the data on server-1.Then i imported with the import plugin the export from server-1 to server-2.

I also have ajdust the config.php with my password what shows in the warning while import the export from server-1:define(‘OW_PASSWORD_SALT’, ‘54115c21be06a’);

Also i replaced trough ftp server on servert-2, the adjusted image files form server-1.

At last i changed the general settings in admin from theme-2, to the same images and settings as in the theme on server-1.

While adjusting in admin the new theme on server-2, the preview is showing and when i viewed the site in the same browser (google chrome) i just showed perfectly.

When i was done with all, i logged out the admin on server-2 and try to see the site on www.hobbydetectie.nl\

The site was not visable anymore and showed message:UNDER MAINTENANCE.

Sorry, the site is undergoing planned maintenance. We’ll be back soon.

Also i could not get to the admin login page anymore and the url:http://hobbydetectie.nl/admin, changed to:
base/base-document/maintenance/?back_uri=admin

How can i turn this message off so the site is showing right again and i can login admin again?

Redirect when server is down for maintenance and back when up?

I’ve got a main production server hosting multiple domains call them site1.com, app.site1.com, and shop.site1.com ( I am using nginx as the web server).

I want to redirect to another domain, say, maintenance.site2.com, when the main production server (site1.com) is down (for maintenance, when i’m staging upgrades, or when something just straight up fails).

I’ve seen several posts mentioning solutions in this arena for windows based servers, however, I am running all Linux servers on multiple cloud providers (digitalocean and vultr).

I am the only member of my company’s «tech» infrastructure and DNS is not my strong suit. Can someone please point me in the direction of the solution i’m looking for? I’m afraid I just don’t have the right google keywords to find a solution.

So, my question is exactly this: When my main production server is down, how do I point my DNS to a simple static site on another domain and then once the main domain is active again, point back?

Its seems like many Facebook users like me across the globe are not able to log in as the server seems to be down 27th March 2015 14:00 UTC.

Facebook Will Be Back Soon

Facebook is down for required maintenance right now, but you should be able to get back on within a few minutes. In the meantime, read more about why you’re seeing this message. Thanks for your patience as we improve the site.

While trying to login to my Facebook Account I got the above message, It seems like Facebook servers are down for maintenance purposes and should be back in some time. Facebook seems to be making some improvements to its database in certain regions of the world.

This will not affect your account and you’ll be able to log in to Facebook with the same password. The help page adds that they do not carry site maintenance on all accounts at the same time, so it’s possible that your friends will be able to access the site while your account is unavailable.

So let’s be patient, the site should be back soon!

Update: There seems to be an outrage with hashtag #facebookDown on twitter, though Facebook handle on twitter has not yet twittered anything about it

Update: 28th March 2015: Facebook servers are up and running.

2. Несколько слов о том, ку­да soon сле­ду­ет ста­вить в пред­ло­же­нии.

Вообще, наречие soon до­пус­ка­ет зна­чи­тель­ную гиб­кость в пла­не по­ста­нов­ки в пред­ло­же­нии.

Обычно soon ста­вит­ся пе­ред смыс­ло­вым гла­го­лом, на­при­мер:

4. В конструкциях ‘the sooner (…,) the bet­ter’ и ‘the soon­er …, the soon­er …’ по­сле пер­во­го the sooner для обозна­че­ния бу­ду­ще­го вре­ме­ни упо­треб­ля­ет­ся на­сто­я­щее вре­мя, на­при­мер:

The sooner we give up smok­ing, the bet­ter – Чем рань­ше мы бро­сим ку­рить, тем луч­ше

The sooner we start work­ing, the soon­er we’ll get re­sults – Чем раньше мы нач­нём ра­бо­тать, тем быст­рее по­лу­чим ре­зуль­та­ты

Дело в том, что пер­вая часть этих кон­струк­ций ана­ло­гич­на при­да­точ­ным пред­ло­же­ни­ям ус­ло­вия и вре­ме­ни, в ко­то­рых бу­ду­щее вре­мя, как пра­ви­ло, не упо­треб­ля­ет­ся (вмес­то не­го упо­треб­ля­ет­ся на­сто­я­щее время):

The sooner we start work­ing, the soon­er we’ll get re­sults ≈ If we start work­ing soon enough, we’ll soon get re­sults ≈ When we start work­ing, we’ll soon get re­sults

Если это правило с при­да­точ­ны­ми ус­ло­вия и вре­ме­ни вы зна­е­те, то проб­лем с ука­зан­ны­ми кон­струк­ци­я­ми у вас не бу­дет. Ес­ли же столь важ­ное пра­ви­ло вы под­за­бы­ли, то обя­за­тель­но по­вто­ри­те его по лю­бо­му учеб­ни­ку ан­глий­ско­го язы­ка. Без не­го ваш ан­глий­ский бу­дет од­но­знач­но ущерб­ным.

Что касается нейтраль­но­го об­ра­ще­ния Ms/Ms., то та­ко­вое воз­ник­ло в 1950-е го­ды как сли­я­ние об­ра­ще­ний Mrs/Mrs. и Miss имен­но для то­го, что­бы из­бе­гать ка­кой-ли­бо ссыл­ки на се­мей­ное по­ло­же­ние да­мы. Очень удоб­но в ре­аль­ной жиз­ни и край­не упот­ре­би­тель­но.
