Протагонистом этой игры является Медвежий Король — по-настоящему крутой медведь, который живёт в космических глубинах. Он собирает команду спасателей, поскольку ему предстоит опасное и полное трудностей путешествие в худшее место во всей галактике — на планету Земля. Он разузнал, что там действует тайная организация злодеев, которые готовятся уничтожить всех прекрасных вайфу.

The dictionary meaning for the term ‘waifu’ is a fictional female character in Anime/Cartoon/Video-game franchise that one has affection and even sexual attraction for.

Ever wondered about the origin of the word ‘waifu’? Well, back in 2002 an anime series called Azumanga Daioh, Episode 15 was the first time the word was ever used.

When the side characters pick a picture of a female and enquire Mr. Kimura about who she was, to which he replied, ‘my wife’.

Now when you romanticize the same term from the Japanese syllabary (Hiragana/Katakana) we get ‘Mai waifu’.

Since the Japanese tend to vowels after English words. The term however became popular amongst English Otakus post-2006.

The term is not to be confused with the actual meaning of ‘waifu’ in Japanese as they would never refer to their actual wife as ‘waifu’ instead they will use the term ‘tsuma’ referring to their actual wife.

The term is more often used by English-speaking fans. There is also a male counterpart to the same known as ‘husbando’.

Chika Fujiwara is one of the protagonists in the popular anime series Kaguya-sama: Love is War. She is an absolute fireball of energy, always smiling and looking to spread happiness and smile all around her.

She has a very childish attitude which is why many tend to misunderstand her, but she’s also extremely intelligent who is fun-loving and tends to find joy and happiness in even the smallest of things.

Chika always knows how to keep herself well occupied with fun and games at all times. She’s also a romantic at heart and strongly believes in the idea of love.

54. Shuna (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime)

Shuna is a princess belonging to the Ogre tribe in the anime That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.

Although she’s spent most of her life being protected and sheltered from the world, she holds magical capabilities. She’s unlike an average princess and is very skilful and capable of using her magical powers.

Shuna is also very kind and caring towards her friends and trusts those that do not get sheltered. She’s also extremely capable of household activities and ends up becoming the chief executive advisor to Rimuru.

Yui Yuigahama belongs to the Sobu High School and is one of the protagonists in the anime OreGairu. She’s an extremely kind girl which is why she’s also easily accepted by people who tend to accept her help willingly.

Yui is both fun-loving and cheerful, trying to spread happiness and cheers all around her. Being an outgoing girl, she is also extremely conscious about letting people know about what’s bothering her, thus keeping a smile on her face even when she’s upset.

She has an obsession with Generals from the Sengoku Period and is fascinated by their philosophies so much so that she tries to imbibe them in her real life as well.

The tritagonist of the webcomic turned manga/anime series, One Punch Man, Tatsumaki a.k.a. Tornado of Terror is an S Class Rank 2 Esper and a professional hero from the Hero Association.

Her looks give off her hot-headed and brash nature. She may be a petite woman and often gets mistaken for being younger.

But she is packing some serious power in her tiny frame. She has emerald green eyes that match her green hair naturally curling at the ends.

Shinobu is a Demon Slayer from the Demon Slayer Corps. After her parents were killed in a freak attack by a demon, she was saved by a demon slayer whom she promises that she will become a part of the corps later.

Despite the hardship she faced, she remains a cheerful and bright young girl even if faced with perils.

However, when in kill mode, Shinobu gets her game face on and despises those very beings that once brought sadness in her life.

Belonging to the Insect Hashira, she is a petite young girl with eyes with no pupils and sports an ombre purple hair which she wears in a bun with a butterfly pin in it.

She adorns the same Demon Slayer uniform as the other characters do in the series, a dark straight-lined jacket with hakama pants tucked in a butterfly pattern.

Rei Hino or also known as Sailor Mars in the series is a kind-hearted but hot-headed young girl.

Her character was drastically changed for the anime series than her portrayal in the manga.

Rei wants to become a world-hopping business entrepreneur to even becoming a musical idol.

She may be a tad bit ignorant of others but is extremely supportive of Sailor Moon and always shows her the most affection.

She has beautiful long black locks and black eyes to complement her fair skin.

Japanese broadcasters, NHK asked their viewers to pick their most favorite characters from the Sailor Moon franchise.

44. Teletha ‘Tessa’ Testarossa (Full Metal Panic / Furumetaru Panikku!)

Teletha Testarossa is a child prodigy who lived most of her life in submarines/warships and military bases.

She rose up the ranks of becoming the Captain at the mere age of 16!

Tessa is a ditzy young girl with grey hair and eyes. She is kind and cares for her subordinates.

Tessa is a strategic planner and displays exemplary military tactical prowess in trying times.

Being at such a high rank has its ups and downs and Tessa though displays her irritation she knows it is her responsibility to perform her duties.

Tessa is the Captain of Tuatha de Danaan, a submarine that she too helped design and is the creator of the AI on the submarine known as Dana.

Another clumsy but strong character on our list is Sheele from Akame Ga Kill! She is an assassin and a member of the Night Raid.

Sheele always seems to lose her glasses and keeps tripping while doing chores.

However, on the battlefield, Sheele’s “get a loose screw” and turns into a cold-hearted killer using her Teigu making her a talented killer.

She cares for her teammates and those around her. She and Mine become close friends on and off the battlefield as well.

Sheele has a slender figure with long violet hair and a similar shade of eyes. She wears a pair of glasses and is usually seen with her Teigu.

In 2014, in a poll held at the Akihabara Gamers Main Store’s Akame Ga Kill’s Memorial Museum, Sheele ranked #7 on the popularity poll.

42. Ram (Re: Zero Series)

Lugnica is home to many immensely talented Oni’s but the most powerful of them all were twin sisters, Ram & Rem.

They each had single horns that helped them tap into their Oni abilities. Ram being the older sister, was more the more talented magic user of the two.

Rem loves her sister but also aims to become better than her. However, when Ram’s horn gets cut off in a freak attack by a cultist group, Rem secretly rejoices.

Post this incident the two girls are sent to a powerful mage’s residence where they work as maids.

Ram is exceptionally powerful despite losing the horn and is able to absorb mana around her.

She possesses immense strength, speed, and skills. Although she makes for a really bad maid, she sure is a powerful magician!

In Crunchyroll’s favorite Re: Zero-character popularity poll, Ram had a total of 616 users vote for her.

41. Bulma (Dragon Ball Z Series)

One of the strongest and longest-running female characters in the DBZ universe, Bulma is the second most important character from the series after Goku.

Bulma is a scientist, the second daughter of Dr. Brief, the wife of Vegeta, and the mother of Trunks and Bulla.

She has changed her look in the series more than any other character and also has been given 18 different hairstyles.

She ranges from being a total tomboy to a girly girl from time to time.

She is spoilt and uses her looks as an advantage for her vain behavior. Despite being temperamental, she is a rational thinker given her high intelligence helping her become a great scientist.

She may not possess fighting abilities like the rest of the Z characters but she uses her gadgets that have proven beneficial in battle scenarios.

In the DBZ Fandom popularity poll, Bulma ranked #9 in the first poll and #17 in the forever poll respectively.

40. Mai Sakurajima (Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai)

A model, an actress, and a student, and someone who can turn invisible, Mai is an attractive young girl who is the protagonist of Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai.

She is polite, sensitive, and rational. Mai learns that her mother was using her as a tool to earn more money since she owned a photography agency herself.

After taking a sabbatical from being in front of the lens, Mai decides to attend high school where she becomes an instant hit in school and Sakuta Azusagawa’s love interest.

39. Lenalee Lee (D. Gray-Man)

One of the main characters from the series D. Gray-Man, Lenalee is an exorcist who kills Akumas.

After her own parents were killed by Akumas, the Black Order takes her away immediately against her own will.

There Lenalee tries to commit suicide but is unsuccessful, she then leads the rest of her life protecting those she considers her family and friends.

Having faced a disrupted childhood, Lenalee shows determination and drive while fighting for those whom she cares for.

She is also very calm and kind natured is easy to talk to. In the anime series, she has dark green hair and purple eyes.

She had accidentally burnt off most of her hair in one mission giving her a tomboyish look.

Her uniforms are usually comprised of fitted short jackets with long sleeves paired with shorts or skirts.

She even has a golem with bat-like wings and has a big eye with only a pupil and no irises.

38. Megumi Tadokoro (Food Wars / Shokugeki no Soma)

Ah, the list continues with some more clumsy girls; Megumi is a timid and nervous chef in the Totsuki Generation alumnus.

She is a talented chef but she cracks under pressure making her seem like the weaker one amongst the rest.

She also panics a lot but she tries to be over-cautious about saying and doing things.

In due time, she gets some encouragement from a fellow classmate and is able to unleash the “Sports Shojo Manga Mode” within herself.

She may be all of that but she is generous with her cooking and can make some delicious-looking dishes when she’s actually doing alright.

This clumsy way of Megumi makes her a cute little waifu.

37. Eru Chitanda (Hyouka and Classic Literature Club Series)

To all the young otakus out there, take some notes from Eru Chitanda. She is a well-mannered, polite, level-headed young girl from Kamiyama High School.

She comes from a wealthy family of farmers known as Chitanda but she doesn’t let her privilege define who she is.

Eru becomes the Classic’s Club’s president as well. Eru has always remained positive and rarely dwells in negativity.

She is extremely focused on topics of her interest. She is a great cook, loves matcha milk, and is physically strong as well.

However, there are some drawbacks to her, she can be extremely nosy and become hyperactive whilst also ignoring others’ personal space.

This purple-eyed girl is surely someone to look up to!

According to MyWaifuList.moe website, Eru ranks at #128 user rankings and is loved by 1339 of the users on the website.

36. Kyoko Mogami (Skip Beat!)

From the 2000’s amazing anime series, Skip Beat, Kyoko Mogami serves up the perfect cup of a revenge story.

When she learns that her childhood friend and crush, Sho Fuwa, who is now a massive celebrity in the city, ask her to live with her, not because of their friendship but because he needed her as a maid.

Kyoko decides on taking revenge on him becoming a top actress herself and makes him realize just how he has betrayed her love for him.

She is a hard-working girl, even going to the point where she has three jobs just to support Sho’s dreams.

But once the transformation takes place within her, she loses the ability to love and becomes this determined person to becoming the best actress in the scene.

Her appearance changes from time to time but she is usually seen in a Love Me jumpsuit.

In a 2007 popularity poll hosted by Hana to Yume, the shojo magazine, to celebrate Skip Beat’s 100th chapter, Kyoko ranked #1 with 2699 votes and in another character poll, she still ranked the topmost character with 2640 votes!

35. Shinoa Hiiragi (Owari No Seraph / Seraph of the End / Vampire Reign)

Sarcastic and dry-humored Shinoa Hiiragi is the female protagonist of Owari No Seraph. She comes from the affluent Hiiragi family.

When she was a human, she was the sergeant of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army until she gets possessed by Shikama Doji, stripping her of her humanity.

Shinoa had difficulties working with others due to her strong and apathetic personality. Much later it is revealed that she did have a troubled childhood and can also display a vulnerable side to her.

After becoming possessed she does become merciless and attacks quite literally anyone under Shikama Doji’s spell.

In Jump’s popularity poll in 2016, she ranked #2 and #5 in the 2019 poll held on the anime’s website.

34. Kurumi Tokisaki (Date a Live)

We have an evil waifu amongst us, Kurumi is the third, and Takoyaki the most brutal spirit to appear in the Date A Live series.

She has killed more than 10,000 people in order to consume their mana. She even transforms herself to get closer to Shido Itsuka’s school in order to consume the mana inside of him.

As evil, as she was, Kurumi is beguiling and elegant in her ways around Shido.

She has ivory skin with black hair. Having almost heterochromatic eyes, her right is red-tinted while her left eye is golden with a lifeless clockface indicating the time left for her.

On MyWaifuList.moe website, Kurumi ranks #32 as the most liked character and has 2558 users liking her.

33. Nao Tomori (Charlotte)

Nao is the main female character of the Charlotte series. A first-year student and also the President of the Student Council of the Hoshinoumi Academy.

She has mostly seen with her camcorder recording the powers of the ability users.

She may be hardworking and smart but she can also be hot-headed and a narcissist as well.

Nao is also fond of children and loves playing with them. She does have one amazing ability, that is to disappear at her own will limited to one person at a time.

Pretty cool, eh? Standing at #90 on MyWaifuList.moe website most loved waifu character, Nao has long grey hair with blue eyes.

She is mostly seen in her school uniform.

32. Emilia (Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu Series)

The main female character, an elf and also a potential future King of the Dragon Kingdom of Lugnica of the Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu.

Being an integral part of the series, as most of the anime series revolves around her.

Emilia is a sweet and selfish young girl who loves looking after those around her.

Even though she is a young girl, she uses these archaic words that only the elderly seem to use.

She does come across as a childish and introverted girl but this was before she lived outside the woods.

Emilia has beautiful long silver hair and purple-blue eyes. She wears a purple and white outfit with a white flower in her hair.

A shocking fact, she is sequentially 115 years but mentally a teen. According to MAL’s top Re: Zero’s character’s list, Emilia ranked #2!

31. Onodera Kosaki (Nisekoi: False Love)

Onodera Kosaki is one of the key characters in the Nisekoi series. Belonging to a family of pastry and candy makers, Kosaki lives with her eccentric family in Japan.

Instead of complimenting her family, she becomes introverted, innocent, kind, and timid. She does show signs of low self-esteem and requires assistance from the rest of the characters.

She is also very problem amongst the boys in school and even becomes close friends with her classmates.

She takes immense care of Raku Ichijo when gets critically wounded. She possesses natural abilities like an affinity towards animals, a great decorator, a brilliant chef.

Kosaki is one of the most popular characters in the series.

30. Mine (Akame Ga Kill!)

From the critically acclaimed, Akame Ga Kill! Mine is another key member of the Night Raid.

Adorning bright hot pink hair tied in twin tails, huge pink eyes and also wears a pink outfit with a high collar and a pink shawl.

She is hot-headed and can get easily irritated. She can normally also seem aggressive, cold, and overemotional.

She would tease Tatsumi in the beginning since he was the newest member of the assassin’s group but later, well let’s just say many shipped their relationship.

29. Kyoka Jiro (Boku no Hiro Akademia / My Hero Academia)

From the popular anime series, My Hero Academia, we have Kyoka Jiro. A quirky character from the series who is an efficient swordsman is very intelligent scoring great results in the school exams.

To add to that, she can also play the bass guitar and the guitar as well.

Kyoka comes across as a no-nonsense and chill-out personality, but she loves to tease others around that can seem a little irritating.

One of her quirks is that she has these Earphone Jacks hanging from her earlobes that when connected to a surface can create a violent vibration attack just from her heartbeat!

How cool is that! Apart from that, she also has these other super moves such as the Counter Balance, Heartbeat Distortion, and Heartbeat Surround.

She always wears this lazy look on her face with triangular onyx eyes.

She has short dark purple hair and has these reflections shaped like heartbeat monitors on either side of her head.

In her hero costume, she wears a black leather jacket, and a long t-shirt, and black pants with boots.

In a Weekly Shonen Jump’s Second character popularity poll, Kyoka ranked #7 amongst the rest of the characters.

28. Raphtalia (Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari / The Rising Shield Hero)

The first actual companion of the Shield Hero, Raphtalia was initially brought in as a slave by her master, Naofumi.

He never treated her badly that helped her forge a strong relationship with him. During her time with him, she seemed sickly and timid due to the trauma experienced by the destruction of her village.

She wants Naofumi to become a hero but gets disappointed when he isn’t able to reach the goal.

Eventually traveling to another, she obtains the revered, Vassal Katana and becomes the Katana no Yuusha.

Raphtalia also becomes the Heavenly Emperor after overthrowing the predecessor. From being this shy young girl, Raphtalia’s character graph in the series only goes on higher as she becomes a force to be reckoned with.

Who wouldn’t love a waifu like that?

27. Kagami Hiiragi (Lucky Star)

One of the main characters from the 2007 hit anime series, Lucky Star, and the older twin sister of Tsukasa Hiiragi, Kagami Hiiragi.

She is a little ball of fire who can go from being this tsundere, egoistical girl to intolerant and lonely at times.

Unlike her sister, Kagami cannot cook well, despises household chores. Despite that Kagami makes for a great friend and she deeply cares for every one of them, especially Konata.

However, she tries to hide that fact. Kagami has long purple hair tied in twin tails with red ribbons and is almost always seen in her school uniform that accentuates her tiny little frame.

26. Megumin (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! / Konosuba)

An Arch-Wizard in the fantasy world, Megumin belongs to the Crimson Demon Clan.

Being one of the main characters from the series and sharing eccentric traits from the Demon Clan, Megumin has a flair for being a little too extra most of the time.

She often boasts about her powers which irritates Kazuma on many occasions. Even though she is very powerful she is slightly childish as well.

She is hell-bent on using Explosion magic so much so that she uses all of her strength only for this particular move.

Being naturally gifted, Megumin is the better team player in Kazuma’s team. On the MyWaifuList.moe website, Megumin has 10560 users like her as their waifu!

25. Zero Two (Darling in the Franxx)

A human-klaxo sapiens hybrid, Zero Two is the deuteragonist of the series, Darling in the Franxx.

Zero Two had a rough upbringing being a hybrid as many viewed her as a monster, but those who know her and who did not treat her like a monster, she comes across as a happy and cheerful girl.

However, Zero Two is a dangerous character and can be pretty ruthless, unruly, and smug.

Even though her memories of the darling were erased. Her eyes shine red when she’s pissed even though she’s wearing a limiter headband with two horns jutting out.

She is often seen wearing a signature red military uniform, white boots with black leggings.

She has 5893 likes on MyWaifuList.moe website and ranks at #5 on the same. Those who live dangerously will love her as a waifu, so it seems.

24. Ino Yamanaka (Naruto Shippuden Series)

Ino Yamanaka, a kunoichi from Konohagakure’s Yamanaka clan. The only daughter of Inoichi Yamanaka has been a strong, confident, and outspoken child.

But of course, she’s friendly and compassionate with those she is close to. Like most of the girls from the Academy, Ino too had an attraction towards Sasuke.

She even dreams of handsome men fighting for her love! Despite these factors, Ino is skilled in Ninjutsu, Chakra Control and possesses immense intelligence as well.

Ino is fair-skinned with platinum blonde hair and bangs on the right side of her face.

Maybe one of the coolest characters on the list, Minori is this fun, hardworking, and idealist little girl.

Captain of the softball team who holds at least four jobs to support her dream of one day joining the national softball league.

She is athletic, always positive, and knows how to turn a bad set of events and still remain positive about it.

You could say that she does all of these things to hide the sadness beneath her, that’s what makes a supremely strong character on the series.

She is a beautiful young teen with amaranth hair and eyes who is normally seen in her school uniform.

In a Crunchyroll, Toradora popularity poll, Minori ranked #3 with 40 votes amongst the rest of the characters.

22. Rem (Re: Zero)

Of course, she had to feature on this list! Rem is probably the waifu-est of all waifus ever!

Rem may seem sweet and polite on the surface but she acts without thinking most of the time.

She holds the guilt of wanting to feel important after the incident with Ram making her accept the fact that she may be the weaker of the two.

After Subaru saves her from a near-death experience, Rem falls in love with and supports him no matter what.

Being a magic user just like her sister, Rem has healing abilities but she can be pretty fierce in her Oni state.

She wields a Morningstar that helps her attack enemies from a distance and engage in close combat as well.

You know you want someone like her in your life, right?

21. Uryuu Minene (Mirai Nikki / Future Diary)

Minene, holder of the Ninth Diary known as the Escape Diary. Minene would often write possible escape routes in her diary in areas that planned on attacking.

She is a great tactician and makes deductions pretty quick in her head. Living most of her life alone, Minene feels like she needs nobody in her life and also ends up self-loathing herself.

She is an expert terrorist and is skilled in C4 bombs and other explosives. She is great with disguising herself as whoever she needs to be in order to carry out her attack without being noticed.

She is a young woman with a patch over her beautiful purple eyes that she loses during a battle.

She has purple hair and is seen wearing a sleeveless jacket with jeans and a tank top.

In a QFeast Mirai Nikki character popularity poll, Minene ranked #3!

20. Kyou Fujibayashi (Clannad)

The main protagonist from the saddest anime ever! We have Kyou Fujibayashi from Clannad. Despite the show being depressive, Kyou is this fierce, aggressive girl and also a potty mouth.

She is talkative and never runs out of quite literally anything to say. She is tsundere and is very popular amongst the guys.

Violent and difficult to approach Kyou does have a calmer side when it comes to her romance with Tomoya.

She takes her school responsibilities well and is an A-grade student and very athletic too!

Oh, not to mention, she’s an amazing cook too. Is this what you call waifu perfection?

19. Mikoto Misaka (A Certain Scientific Railgun)

A level 5 Esper and ranked #3 by the Academy City, Mikoto is one strong waifu and also the main female character of A Certain Scientific Railgun series.

Having so much power means that she can exude tsundere-like characteristics and can be selfish and immature.

Many consider Mikoto very ladylike but she isn’t exactly so, she has a tomboyish side to her and is prideful too.

She loves her own company and hates the idea of restrictions and rules. She is intelligent and is a quick problem solver.

Mikoto has light brown hair with a clip on the side and their eyes are brown as well.

She is mostly seen in her school uniform.

18. Ochaco Uraraka (Boku no Hiro Akademia / My Hero Academia)

A family girl on the list, Ochaco is also known as ‘Gravity is one of the main female characters of Boku no Hiro Akademia.

A funny, cheerful, and open-minded girl, does everything she can do to support her family members who form her strongest support system.

Her quirk is that she can manipulate gravity, how cool is that! But she can’t use the power for too long since it causes her to become nauseous, her costume is attuned to allowing her to use the power for long though.

The only reason she wanted to become a hero was to earn money, enough money to help her family out through tough times.

17. Rin Tohsaka (Fate Series)

The deuteragonist of the Fate Series, Rin Tohsaka comes from the imminent Tohsaka Family. She is the Master Archer who participates in the Fifth Holy Grail War since her father succumbed to mortal injuries in the Fourth War a decade ago.

Rin is level-headed, competitive, and is a model student in her school. She hones this deep sense of honor to respect the family and the legacy of the Tohsaka family and will go to any lengths to protect it.

When you watch the series, you can see how arrogant and elitist she can be but in all to keep her privacy intact and to protect those around her.

According to Manga Tokyo Poll held in 2018, Rin was the third most popular character from the entire franchise!

16. Akame (Akame ga Kill!)

A slave turned assassin, Akame is undoubtedly the most popular character from the series.

However, over the course of her training, she decides to join the rebels and becomes a part of the Night Raid.

Those who have watched the series know how important she is to the Ga Kill universe.

She comes across as this deadpanned and apathetic girl due to her assassin training, in reality, she is socially awkward.

She tends to hide her feelings from others since she can’t express them properly whatsoever.

But the only time you see a reaction from her is on the battlefield, she is absolutely ruthless!

On the lighter side of Akame, she has a ginormous appetite like her sister Kurome and is the calmest around food.

She has long black hair and has red eyes. Her attire consists of a dark sleeveless dress with a red tie and white collar and also wear a black skirt cover.

Akame also goes by the name ‘Akame of the Demon Sword Murasame’.

15. Rias Gremory (High School DXD)

Known as the ‘Crimson Haired Ruin Princess’, Rias is the main female character of the series and is the heiress to the Gremory Clan.

Being a princess is not fun most of the time and Rias does want normalcy, especially from the prying eyes of the men who want her only because she is an heiress.

She is a cheerful young girl and cares very deeply for all those around her but can get extremely fiery if anyone teases her of her class.

She is a competitive girl, somewhat spoilt, and loves participating in ‘Rating Games’. Rias’s abilities comprise of the Demonic Power, allowing her to become a High-Class Devil.

She even holds the Power of Destruction and Castling. Oh, did we mention, the entire series is a fanservice series!

14. Yoko Littner (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann)

From the popular series, Gurren Lagen, Yoko Littner is your girl if you’re into a girl wielding a wide range of firearms.

Yoko is portrayed as this level-headed, calculative and knowledgeable woman who is mature and caring at the same time.

She is touted as an excellent rifleman; a reputation is proud to have earned. Yoko has long red hair tied into a ponytail with bangs on the right side of her face, she has amber eyes and very mature features.

You also see her wearing a cracked skull as a hair accessory and two yellow chopsticks that use as melee weapons.

On the MyWaifuList.moe website, Yoko ranks at #95 and has 1528 users like her as their waifu!

13. Holo the Wise Wolf (Spice and Wolf)

One of the nicest waifus on this list, Holo is a wolf harvest deity. She is responsible for providing plentiful harvest in the village she has settled in.

But over time the villagers become self-sufficient and do not need her anymore. She then decides that she needs to get back to her homeland, with the help of the merchant named Kraft Lawrence.

We then follow Holo on this journey and learn that she is as human as can be.

She is also a bit of an alcoholic and gets drunk very often. She mocks Lawrence’s manliness on many occasions, which he doesn’t appreciate.

Apart from that, Holo is a sweet woman who cares. Who wouldn’t want a caring waifu like her?

12. Kallen Kozuki / Kallen Stadtfeld (Code Geass)

This feisty character from the Code Geass universe is maintaining a stronghold in your hearts just as she has in the series.

Kallen is a bold, rebellious and determined fighter. She is half Britannian and Japanese. Kallen had a rough childhood after the loss of their brother, which also affected her relationship with her parents.

But over time, she manages to fix things for the better. Kallen is instrumental in the fight for Japan’s liberation, something that her brother was aiming to do.

She is kind and caring but is a fearful fighter as well being a great tactician and pilots the Knightframe brilliantly.

11. Mirajane Strauss (Fairy Tail)

We are introduced to Mirajane as ‘The Demon’, she was feared amongst everything that could move.

She even had a rivalry with Erza as a young girl. She was a loudmouth and would disrespect quite literally everyone.

During this time, she was quite confused if she really was human. But after the death of Lisanna, her younger sister, Mirajane changed.

She became calmer and began losing her magical powers. She is now this loving and kind person.

She even becomes this maternal figure for the guild. Now, a changed Mirajane’s only aim to protect those she considers close to her and even those who are strangers.

According to Comicbook.com Fairy Tail’s character popularity polls, Mirajane stood at #12 behind!

10. Kurisu Makise (Steins; Gate)

Kurisu’s motto of life is to treat the way you are treated and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that!

Kurisu is one of the main characters of the hit anime series, Steins; Gate. She is intellectual, mature, and very straightforward.

She hates it when people act petty and she makes sure she gives them her peace of mind.

Kurisu can be nice if you’re nice to her, if you’re perverted then you are in trouble.

Kurisu has managed to accomplish a lot at a very young age making others jealous of her success.

Including her own father! Kurisu is a popular character from the series, she has red hair and dull violet eyes.

She is usually seen in her lab coat and white shirt tucked into her shorts and a khaki jacket.

Kurisu has a MAL member popularity of 73,011! That’s a huge number!

9. Saber (Fate Universe)

Of course, Saber had to make it to the list. The Saber Class Servant of Kiritsugu Emiya from the Fourth Holy Grail War and Saber Servant Class for Shirou Emiya in the Fifth War, Saber has seen it all.

One of the strongest servants in the whole of the Fate universe. She has the highest stats of any other character in the series and her magic resistance is beyond belief.

Saber being a key character is portrayed with this unrelenting thirst to protect those who she cares for.

She is kind, generous, and an extremely intelligent woman. She is an independent thinker yet loyal and is seen hiding her emotions on many occasions in the name of her duty.

She is a beautifully etched-out character and fits the mould of a waifu really well too!

It’s safe to say, Saber tops all the character polls for the Fate universe.

8. Sasha Braus / Sasha Blouse (Attack on Titan)

Hey, the ‘potato girl’ from the AOT series made it to the list! Sasha Braus /Blouse in English, a member of the Survey Corps and 104th Training Corps.

She joined the force after witnessing Eren’s deep desire to eliminate all Titans. She’s kind, courteous, and is a foodie!

She loves eating potatoes. You’d always see a piece of potato or bread or some kind of food throughout the series.

This friendly and fun-loving girl but on the field, she was a merciless killer. She did seem to show hesitance while aiming the gun at children, however.

In the First Character Popularity Poll held on the official website, Sasha ranked #4!

7. Yoruichi Shihouin (Bleach)

The supporting character of the Bleach series, Yoruichi is the former Captain of the 2nd Division of the Gotei and also the former commander of the Onmitsukido.

Phew! That’s a tough girl right there. But she abandons those posts to work at Urahara Shop, in the human world.

She holds a tonne of information about the Soul Society and is extremely witty yet calm and mature.

Yoruichi is also able to transform into a human from her black cat form as well.

She is the most powerful Hoho master in all of Soul Society as well as a Hakuda Master, is efficient in Shunko, and Shank swordsman expert.

Her Zanpakuto has achieved Bankai but she relies on her abilities most of the time during battles.

Oh, you can only be in awe of such strong waifus making it on the list!

6. Rukia Kuchiki (Bleach)

Followed by another iconic character from Bleach, we have Rukia Kuchiki. Rukia grew up from very humble beginnings and then later got adopted into nobility.

She is very respectful of others and doesn’t forget her roots. Rukia is often seen as this cold and cucumber-like cool character, often leading her to hide her true emotions from others.

Rukia is a key but the underrated character in the series and is the current Captain of the 13th Division.

She is an excellent swordsman, is a Kido and Shunpo expert, and also a great Hakuda Combatant.

Rukia has the Sode no Shirayuki Zanpakuto. In Shonen Jump’s first Bleach character Poll, Rukia ranked #2 behind Ichigo!

5. Yuno Gasai (Mirai Nikki / Future Diary)

The main female protagonist of Future Diary, Yuno Gasai is the owner of ‘Yukiteru Diary / the Diary of Future Love’.

Yuno’s obsession with Yukiteru, the hero of the series in a little weird. Yuno is like two sides of the same coin.

Around Yukiteru she is this shy, timid almost feminine-like girl. But when he isn’t around, she is this cold, deadpan and calculative personality.

This is because of her parent’s death before the Survival Games began. Yuno is a character shrouded in mystery and you’d never know how she’d strike next, so much so as to even giving death threats to the person who comes in between her and Yukiteru.

She has long pink hair tied in pigtails and pink eyes. She is normally seen in a blue shirt and skirt with high socks.

If crazy if your jam, Yuno is your waifu.

4. Lucy Heartfilia (Fairy Tail)

Lucy once belonged to a wealthy family but due to her unfurling relationship with her father, she runs away from the wealth and the estate to make a life of her own.

Despite giving vanity more importance, Lucy is also kind to others and also her Celestial Spirits.

Unlike the others, she actually takes efforts in wanting to make her spirits happy! Lucy is a beautiful and voluptuous girl with blonde hair and brown eyes.

Her Fairy Tail stamp is located at the back of her right hand. In the Weekly Shonen Magazine’s 26th issue’s popularity poll, Lucy ranked #1 with 8987 votes!

3. Hinata Hyuga (Naruto)

The wife of the famed Naruto and a powerful ninja herself, Hinata Hyuga is finally on the list if you were waiting to see her.

Hinata was to marry Naruto from the very beginning as he was her crush.

She has two Nature Types, Lightning Release, and Fire Release, both of which she doesn’t use too often but are proven beneficial on the battlefield.

Hinata has also completed a total of 33 missions in her time as a Shinobi.

She is also known as ‘Byakugan Princess’ and also has the title of ‘Legendary Queen of Gluttony’.

The latter is something she actually earned. In a Naruto popularity poll, she was #6 amongst the rest of the characters!

2. Asuna Yuuki (Sword Art Online)

From the debatable anime series, Sword Art Online, we have Asuna Yuuki. A friend and also the love interest of Kirito.

A sub-leader of the Knights of Blood and a skilled player in all of Aincrad.

She is one of the fastest characters in the game, is master with the rapier, and can also use daggers in a close combat situation.

She is a tsundere type girl who is kind and caring. She has a very pretty face with brown hair and amber eyes.

But let’s face it, all the girls in the Top 10 including Asuna are all fierce and that’s what makes them our top waifus of 2021!

1. Erza Scarlet (Fairy Tail)

A fan favorite from the Fairy Tail series and to top our list is Erza Scarlet!

Essentially one of the strongest characters in the Fairy Tail universe who quite literally has the ability to become a hero and also go to the dark side.

That’s how complex her character is. Erza has an unbridled affinity toward weapons and armor.

Her battle stats are near perfect! She is a powerful swordsman, and excels in speed, power, and intelligence as well.

Erza can also be a girl, she is also insecure about herself, and most of all, she cannot hold her drink straight!

Of course, she is kind and caring as well, but on the battlefield, you need to steer clear of her!

Erza defines strength and is a beautiful woman, which is why she tops our list!

Что такое «вайфу» (waifu) и почему этот термин всё чаще употребляют пользователи Сети? Понятие, пришедшее из японской культуры, прочно закрепилось в русском лексиконе, став обозначением недостижимого идеала. Люди используют слово «вайфу» в отношении вымышленных героев и реальных персон, к которым испытывают романтическую привязанность.

Кто такие вайфу и откуда пришло понятие?

Японское слово «вайфу» произошло от английского слова wife, в переводе означающего «жена», и вошло в употребление примерно в 1980-х годах. Тогда многие молодые люди, посчитавшие оскорблением традиционный способ обращения к жене Kanai (в переводе с япон. «в доме». — Прим. Medialeaks), решили заменить его на англицизм. Под адаптацию попало и японское слово Danna («муж», «господин»), и некоторые пары начали использовать иностранные слова husband и wife (с англ. «муж» и «жена»), переделав их под более удобное произношение — huzu и waifu («хазу» и «вайфу»).

Многие пользователи твиттера отмечают свою приверженность к колоритным персонажам из популярной компьютерной игры Genshin Impact в жанре приключения (action-adventure).

Например, кому-то нравится героиня Сёгун Райдэн — девушка с длинными тёмными с фиолетовыми переливами волосами и мини-платьем в виде кимоно. Она обладает мощью грома и может нанести противнику серьёзный урон, но, видимо, это не самое главное.

The waifu wars have been going on for years now, with small victories across the map, but no overall winner.

And it’s easy to see why, considering how many new soldiers enter the ring each season.

So who truly are the best waifus in all of anime?

Well we’re gonna do our best to at least look at some of the better competitors, and hopefully we don’t start another war in the process.

35. Chelsea

Anime: Akame ga kill!

Chelsea was one of my favorite characters in the show, as she gave off that cool older sister vibe.

She was also the only proper assassin among the bunch.

She puts up a strong exterior and likes belittling her teammates, but we all know it comes from a good place.

They do risk their lives every day, so it’s smart to keep your teammates grounded and realistic. And while she might have not had the most screen time, she definitely left a big impression.

34. Kallen Stadtfeld

Anime: Code Geass

A characteristic you’ll find quite often on this list is that of a badass.

Sure, the damsel in distress can be attractive from time to time.

But female characters that take names and kick ass are usually a lot more memorable.

And Kalen is quite the badass herself.

Regardless of how slim her chances in battle are, she never hesitates to go all-out in the pursuit of victory.

Even when she’s caught off guard while fully naked, it’s a matter of seconds before a knife is at your throat.

33. Ryuuko Matoi

Anime: Kill la Kill

Ryuuko is another battle ready veteran, although she’s far from a soldier.

With her trusty sidekick in the form of a skimpy outfit, she charges into battle headfirst and figures out the details later.

And her tenacity is admirable, as she can be knocked down a dozen times and still find a way to stand on her feet.

She might not be as cheery and optimistic as Mako, but she gets the job done.

She also works that tomboy style like it was nobody’s business.

32. Shinobu Kochou

Anime: Demon Slayer

Shinobu is the type of character that really nails the “don’t judge a book by its cover” mentality.

She seems like the kindest, bubbliest person ever. Always smiling, talking in a low soft voice, and talking up her teammates.

But this butterfly has some bite to her.

It turns out that she’s an incredible warrior who utilizes poison to take down her foes.

And she can be quite sadistic while doing her duty.

But hey, at least you know she can protect you. Just never get on her bad side.

31. Akatsuki

Anime: Log Horizon

I can’t say that I would even mind if Akatsuki murdered me, as I feel like it would be the most kawaii way to go.

She’s a bite-sized assassin that’s loyal to a fault, and excels at gathering information and taking out enemies from behind.

She’s also quite the goofball.

Expressing emotions is a foreign concept to the little ninja, and she even managed to get a rival who is in middle school.

But we love her for it nevertheless.

30. Morgiana

Anime: Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic

To this day I’m fascinated that Alibaba had to save Morgiana and not the other way around.

Sure, Alibaba is quite handy with a sword.

But Morgiana can kick you with the power of a thousand suns, and then finish you off with a glare that’s just as powerful. And it’s not just her thunder thighs that you should be worried about, either!

She’s incredibly fast, can probably arm wrestle a bear to a draw, and has senses so keen that she can smell death itself.

You honestly can’t get any more “self-reliable” than that.

29. Tatsumaki

Anime: One Punch Man

Tatsumaki is a high risk/high reward type of waifu.

She holds immense power, and I truly do mean immense, as she can drop meteors from the sky if she chooses.

She’s also very irritable, so even talking to her is a death wish unless you’re the protagonist of your respective anime.

However, on the plus side, she has the cutest smile!

Given, the only time I saw her smile was when she was drunk and repeatedly stabbing a person… but it still counts!

28. Rem

Anime: Re: Zero

Rem has been a strong waifu contender for quite some time now.

So much so that the war devs literally had to nerf her.

And it’s simple to see why:

When she likes you, she’s like a cold breeze on a sunny day, spreading nothing but cheer and kawaii around her. And when she doesn’t like you, well, you have to carry an extra pair of pants in case you royally soil yourself.

It’s that kind of duality that really allows for certain waifu soldiers to stand tall above the rest!

27. Sasha Blouse

Anime: Attack on Titan

Sasha is very special to me for two main reasons:

Firstly, she’s the only character in Attack on Titan that has made me laugh.

And secondly, she’s the only female character that I don’t fear from the bottom of my heart.

Don’t get me wrong, she can still kick some butt. Especially if you’re between her and a five-pound ham.

But at least she won’t spit on your grave afterwards.

She’s just genuinely friendly, and you just have to admire her devotion to the art of stuffing your face.

26. Raphtalia

Anime: The Rising of the Shield Hero

When Raphtalia was first introduced, she was so cute and little that I just wanted to wrap her in a blanket and give her some hot chocolate.

Now that she’s more grown, at least physically, I want to give her a blanket and a wet towel so that she can wash the blood off her sword.

She’s extremely loyal, and would go to the ends of the earth if it meant protecting those she cared for.

And I am not just saying that. She has definitely shown us that side of her.

Plus, look at how cute and puffy her ears are.

25. Taiga Aisaka

Anime: Toradora!

Who doesn’t love a tiny tsundere?

There’s just something so adorable about a five-foot ball of poor communication skills and pent up anger, and Taiga is definitely among the most famous characters in this category.

Since everyone likes to downplay her because of her size, she took matters into her own hands and built up a reputation that’s based on both fear and respect.

But when she does have her girly moments, especially in the latter part of the series, it truly is a blissful experience.

24. Zero Two

Anime: Darling in the Franxx

Zero Two was basically birthed into the waifu world.

I mean, her introduction literally had her jump out of a river naked with a fish in her mouth.

So not only is she comfortable with her body, but she can also catch you some dinner!

When she’s calm, she’s the bubbliest of the bunch. And when she’s angry, I expect a death scene to be nearby.

I have also never heard someone say a single word in such an alluring way as when Zero Two says “darling”.

23. Haruhi Suzumiya

Anime: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Haruhi is definitely one of the S-class waifus, not only by legacy, but also her difficulty rating.

Slight spoilers here:

She is basically a god, and a very picky one at that.

She’s constantly bored and bouncing off the walls to feel fulfilled. Some days this results in hot bunny girl costumes and other days just straight blackmail.

But you’ll never be bored.

So get out your Queen Haruhi bible and I’ll see you on Sunday.

22. Esdeath

Anime: Akame ga kill!

If dominance was a person, it would be in the form of Esdeath.

She’s a terrifying leader who can squash entire armies by herself, and then have the opposing captain lick her boots before dinner’s ready.

In love, she is a bit more squeamish and girly. But don’t think that means she’s submissive.

Even in love she’s the alpha dog, and you have to either accept that or prepare to become a popsicle. So if you like your fair share of dominatrix waifus, she suits the role perfectly.

21. Revy

Anime: Black Lagoon

Revy is just a glorious loose cannon.

She’s like the Grim Reaper when she’s holding a gun, and she has stared death in the eyes so many times that she hardly even reacts anymore.

She obviously never believed in the whole “being girly” concept, as she’ll outdrink, outeat, and probably beat up any dude who steps in her way.

It’s not like she’s evil or anything. In fact she can be quite sweet.

But you really have to work hard if you want to get to the center of this Tootsie Pop.

20. Miria Harvent

Anime: Baccano!

Miria and Isaac make for such a perfect couple that people seldom bring up Miria in the waifu wars.

And I can’t just sit here and ignore an obvious “best girl” competitor.

She’s just beyond sweet, kind, and naïve, and she also dishes out more support than the Canadian healthcare system.

Whatever Isaac wants to do, Miria is in it 100%, no questions asked!

And since she isn’t really bound to the law, she makes for the perfect partner in crime! So stop sleeping on this overpowered pick and join the cause.

19. Hitagi Senjougahara

Anime: Monogatari series

Senjougahara is quite the tough customer.

In fact, the first time she met the protagonist, she put a stapler in his mouth.

Isn’t that a great story to tell the kids?

But once she softens up, she is pure waifu material.

Now she isn’t going to be a doormat, and will fight with you if you’re in the wrong. But she will also place her faith in you when all the chips are down.

She’s level-headed, incredibly clever, and can even do some wicked voice acting!

18. Mirko

Anime: My Hero Academia

If you’ve only watched the anime, this pick might come as a shock since she has only appeared briefly in the final season.

However, if you’ve read the manga, I don’t have to tell you anything.

For the anime watchers, let’s just say that this woman has the charisma and the tenacity to rival big man All Might himself.

Like seriously, this woman cannot be stopped once she gets going. Plus, she’s an incredibly strong bunny girl. That should be enough reason in itself.

17. Celty Sturluson

Anime: Durarara!!

We’ve gotten to a point where anime can even make headless characters insanely hot and likable.

Celty is honestly such a babe and a sweetheart at the same time.

One the one hand, she can kick some serious butt. And just watching her zip around the city on her bike gives me the chills.

On the other hand, she’s so goofy that you just can’t help but love her.

Whenever she gets embarrassed she’ll just trap her boyfriend in a ball or darkness and angrily punch the pillow.

So innocent, so sweet.

16. Abigail Jones

Anime: Great Pretender

Just on the account of how hard she’s rocking the short hair, Abigail is definitely on this list.

But she’s also an incredibly tenacious and capable person, quickly mastering crafts that would take most people years or decades.

However, she hasn’t had the most ideal childhood. So there are going to be a lot of walls before you ever see even a glimpse of her true character.

But hey, good things come to those who wait. And preferably also know how to help someone going through trauma.

15. Shouko Nishimiya

Anime: A Silent Voice

Since A Silent Voice is a movie, I’m not going to say much in order to avoid any spoilers.

All I will say is that Shouko makes my heart melt whenever I see her.

Rarely do you see a character as untainted and as kind as Shouko, while simultaneously having a believable personality.

She has the tenacity of a god, and honestly humanity would be a lot better off if it had more people like Shouko around. Man I love this character.

14. Himeko Inaba

Anime: Kokoro Connect

Himeko is a slow burner.

At first she seems completely cold and analytical, at times even down-right rude. But the more comfortable she gets, the more approachable she becomes.

Because when you take away all of her logical jibber-jabber, you’re left with a clumsy girl who’s just deathly afraid of being left all alone.

She’s willing to sacrifice her own wishes if it means that the people around her are happy. And I think that’s a trait a lot of us can relate to.

13. Megumin

Anime: KonoSuba

There’s no other way to describe Megumin other than as adorable.

Her antics are always so childish, and yet so oddly relatable that you just can’t help but love her.

I mean just count it all:

Her obsession over blowing things up instead of actually being useful, her petty fights with Yunyun, her definitely normal cat, her evil smirk when she finally realizes how to get what she wants… it’s all too perfect.

So she might not be the most useful or skilled adventurer out there. But she is definitely the most loved.

12. Emilia

Anime: Re: Zero

When the first season concluded, Emilia was nowhere near the waifu race.

She was so far back in Rem’s dust that not even a blue shell could save her.

But then season two came around and that all changed.

Suddenly she wasn’t just this shy girl who may or may not become a Queen. Her backstory really fleshed out why she is the way she is, and suddenly it all seemed genuine.

She’s honestly a trooper for even being sane at this point. So at the very least in terms of mental strength, she and Subaru are a match made in heaven.

11. Maki Oze

Anime: Fire Force

Maki just puts most Instagram fitness personalities to shame.

The girl has the body of Zeus, is drop dead gorgeous, and can probably make you drop dead as well.

She’s extremely skilled in hand-to-hand combat, and her level-headedness is a major plus of the battlefield.

This description would definitely make you think that she’s some cold and unapproachable character. But she is actually quite the sweetheart.

She’s a true romantic, and commonly uses her powers to make little fiery friends and just mess around.

10. Merlin

Anime: The Seven Deadly Sins

Merlin feels like the rarest card in the waifu deck, because man is she a difficult woman to catch.

Don’t believe me?

She negotiated with two gods to join their side, tricked both of them, and then ran off with their powers.

If literal gods can’t hold this woman’s attention, then who could?

Okay, manga readers already know the answer to that one…

Plus, she is a stone-cold fox. And I refuse to be told otherwise.

I mean, she made a man who can create suns with his hands get hot under the collar. She just has too many feats to ignore.

9. Tsunade

Anime: Naruto: Shippuden

Usually when picking a representative, here’s a few characteristics that aren’t often preferred:

Liking to gamble, liking to drink, having a short fuse, being able to crush a mountain with just bare hands, and having a giant pet slug.

And yet Tsunade somehow made for an excellent Hokage!

And sure, people like to dog on the female characters in Naruto.

But at the very minimum, Tsunade has the tenacity of 100 men.

You can split this woman in two and she’ll still look for a way to kick your butt. And that type of mentality my friends is waifu material.

8. Akane Tsunemori

Anime: Psycho-Pass

Akane is the type of character that had to grow up really quickly, and really drastically.

At first, she was just a naïve girl with a good head on her shoulders and strict morals in her heart.

By the end of the series, however, she was a cunning woman who single handedly posed a threat to an entire system.

And I loved seeing it!

She became a pure badass, but still kept part of her original kind-heartedness. Plus she’s a hoot at parties, and the hero the city needed, all at the same time.

7. Ikumi Mito

Anime: Food Wars!

Food Wars has more waifu and husbando characters than one can count. But Ikumi definitely stood out for me.

I’m a sucker for the nemesis-turned-ally trope, and Ikumi was among the first to jump ship.

The woman knows her meats like they were the back of her hand. And she never disappoints when the gang needs her expertise.

She’s still very headstrong, and her clothing choices probably break several health regulations, but who cares!

And don’t you dare make any meat jokes in your head.

6. Rias Gremory

Anime: High School DxD

If you took a picture dictionary and looked up the word “babe”, you would probably see Rias.

I mean, let’s not kid ourselves: she is smoking hot.

She has the power to absolutely annihilate those who dare oppose her, but she’s also kind at heart and can make you feel truly loved.

Granted she does get a bit jealous, but who doesn’t these days?

Plus, with the success of Queen’s Gambit, it’s the perfect time to learn chess!

And why not have an anime babe do the explaining?

5. Miia

Anime: Monster Musume

I generally tried to keep the monster girls to a minimum on this list, as they might not be for everybody.

But Miia is too iconic to leave out.

Monster Musume has more than a handful of monster girls, each interesting and alluring in their own ways.

But I always liked Miia the best.

Is it because she was the original, or because she seems like the most reliable of the bunch?

Judging from my last pick, I might just like the color red.

But nevertheless: Miia is an S-class waifu and deserves all the mama mia’s.

4. Erza Scarlet

Anime: Fairy Tail

Erza might be a top class waifu, but she’s also one of the bros.

She isn’t shy in the slightest when it comes to her body. I mean, she will drink with you until the sun goes down, and she’s always up for a casual fist fight.

Although the last example might not be such a good idea…

This is because Erza is no laughing matter when it comes to battle.

Regardless of how many foes you throw her way, she always manages to get out on top. Through her versatile arsenal of weapons and armors, she has an answer to every situation.

Even if it means being a bunny girl for some reason.

3. Mai Sakurajima

Anime: Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai

Speaking of bunny girls, it’s time to give up the stage for Mai.

Being that Mai is a successful actress, you would really expect the usual spoiled brat attitude.

However, because of her experience with Puberty Syndrome, she’s quite the kind and quiet individual.

She still has some tsundere vibes, especially if she’s teased with some lewd jokes. But she never reacts too over the top.

In fact, sometimes she simply reacts in a manner so adorable that you forget all about the jokes.

And that’s nothing less than a superpower.

2. Yoko Littner

Anime: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

I loved Yoko from the very beginning.

She was full of energy and spunk, never giving up and always ready to fight the good fight.

Even though she did not have a mech, she was one of the most valuable assets to the army.

And the fact that she does all this while in a bikini gives her some bonus points.

But I truly fell in love with the character when (spoiler alert) she became a teacher.

She was the coolest and most down to earth teacher I have ever seen, plus she still had that old spunkiness to her step.

1. Kurisu Makise

Anime: Steins; Gate

I’ve stated this multiple times throughout numerous articles: Kurisu is simply one of my favorite characters of all time.

She doesn’t really have some special gimmick or anything. She’s just a very believable, clever, kind and snarky character that I can’t help but adore.

Even though her massive success has caused quite a lot of problems for her, she still pressed on in the pursuit of knowledge.

And when the situation got rough, she double-downed.

Plus (and spoiler alert here) her rendition of the Hououin Kyouma act is still one of my favorite scenes in anime.

How we built the Waifu Vending Machine

On the weekend of Anime Expo, an artist promised the humanly impossible ⁠—- custom art commissions with a five-minute turnaround time. The not-so-hidden catch? The artist wasn’t a human at all, but an AI exposed to millions of anime images. Over the next four days, what started as a simple experiment would go on to become a cult attraction in the artist alley, drawing lines of up to 40 minutes and forcing us into a race against time to scale up our system.

In this post, we’ll be going over how the Waifu Vending Machine was built – from the initial design process, to the behind-the-scenes of booth construction, to the last-minute hacks that saved the day. (Special thanks to our neighbors and the wonderful staff at artist alley for putting up with our traffic)

Note: this is not a technical report. Instead of focusing on ML techniques, we’re going to focus on the less-explored question of taking an isolated model and bringing it to life!

What is the Vending Machine anyways?

In anime convention culture, the artist commissions are always a center of attraction. For a price, artists will draw the whatever character you describe – from current trends to the rarest girls from the 90’s. When exchanging a commission, however, it’s frequently a challenge to describe the character you’re imagining, and it can often take days before the finished product is ready.

The Waifu Vending Machine is our re-imagination of the traditional commission booth. Rather than dealing with communication troubles and overnight delays, the process of the Vending Machine is simple – select the girls you like, and the booth will learn from your choices to create the character of your dreams!

Walk up to the station, and you’ll be greeted with a quick array of girls.

After each step, the booth narrows your choices – eventually leading to a final screen, where you can “adopt” the girl on the spot.

At first, the Vending Machine was just a small experiment to see if we could shake up the artist alley. From hastily-drawn napkin plans, we built everything up, hoping to bring smiles to a few passerbys. However, word-of-mouth soon transformed our booth into a prime attraction in the alley – and our team had to pull out all the tricks in the book and more to keep the booth afloat.

For the rest of this post, we’ll describe the behind-the-scenes adventure of the Waifu Vending Machine creation. It was a journey of unexpected amazements!

The Prototype

The Vending Machine project started out as a simple idea on the research checklist – figure out how to generate an infinite source of anime girls, from scratch.

The initial results were pretty, but the only thing we could really do was look at the results and say “yeah that looks cool”.

We didn’t want to generate just any girls – we wanted to draw everyone’s dream girl. For that, we had build knobs to guide the drawing process. To make things a little more interactive, we spun up a quick tool to mix and match parts of the generated girls. By exchanging parts of the girl’s representations, we could do things like change color palette and hair style.

This was fun, but finding the girl we were thinking about could still take ages. What we needed was an easier way to specify what kind of girl we were looking for…

The problem with building some kind of fine-grained control dashboard is that people are bad at describing what they’re thinking about. On the other hand, when given clear options, it’s much easier to choose which option is the best.

Following this logic, we opted for a system where the user is shown a grid of girls, and the system would narrow down their search with every selection.

With that, we had a UI good enough to begin playing around with! It’s a simple workflow where people figure out what they want by selecting girls incrementally closer to their dream girl.

With software out of the way (or so we thought), it was time for the hard stuff.

The Hard(ware) Stuff

Even before arriving at the artist alley, there were some challenges we had to address. The first was how to get noticed in a sea of artists and posters. To really stand out, we’d need something that could both catch attention and convey the nature of the booth.

We ended up drawing inspiration from a common resident of the city buildings: the vending machine! With its towering height and theme of automation, we hoped the vending-machine design could convey our ideas with a single glance.

Of course, we wouldn’t be able to build an actual machine – we would have to hack it. This is a theme that became increasingly common as the days drew closer.

The final design was essentially a guy sitting behind a box-shaped cloth backdrop, while the monitor in the front ran a UI that people could interact with. Behind the scenes, our cluster of laptops and cables would power the core operations.

The Battle

Finally, the promised weekend had arrived. After a six-hour drive down to LA, booth materials packed in the trunk, we walked into the convention center ready to begin the fight!

As it turns out, artist alley is an environment of incredible scarcity. Two factors stood in the way of the booth’s opening – there’s no electricity, and there’s no wifi. We also had around 6 feet of space, which was a pretty cramped space to sit in for 10 hours.

Thankfully, our booth was compact enough to fit on the table snugly.
Three key areas faced the user: the monitor with the ordering UI, a slot for money, and a place to collect the product.

Behind the scenes, the entire setup for the vending machine was a cluster of six laptops, each with enough battery life to last a couple of hours. By switching between them, we could survive the day.

On the right, a client laptop controlled what the users were seeing. It mirrored the display in the front so we could keep track of what the user was doing at. any time. On the left, the server laptop displayed the database logs and connected to the nearby photo printer, which created the portraits we then cut out.

The actual server, unfortunately, wasn’t some magical machine in the cloud. Since the internet wasn’t going to cooperate, we would have to source everything locally. The trusty gaming laptop, complete with its mobile GPU and copy of Windows Home Edition, was repurposed as the world’s most unstable inference server.

In the end, a typical loop would go something like:

By the end of the expo, we had this routine down to an art. Especially when multiple users started using the system at once, it became increasingly important to cut out any wasted time in the core loop – and even then, there was always the chance that something could break and send us all into a panic….

Top 10 Hacks

What follows next are series of techniques we performed out of sheer necessity.

Two hours into setup, we realized that the internet problem was worse than we thought. Not only could we not access the outside world, we couldn’t even use the building’s wifi as a local network. So in a last minute effort to connect everything together, we hosted a hotspot on an Android phone, disconnected the phone from data, and used it as a local router.

As usual, the Windows machine complained, and began to disconnect itself from the network. To stop this, we launched a perpetual ping job to the Windows IP, to keep it from refreshing its connection.

An hour into the first day, wed realize there was a critical bug in the front-end code – if people clicked the Back button on the first screen, the client would crash. Hastily, we redirected the client laptop to load the webpage from a different computer, and we hot-fixed the code from behind the scenes.

Two laptops, twice the efficiency

Iterate! Iterate! Iterate!

On the first day, we found it hard to attract people to the booth. The initial screen was confusing, and it became clear that people didn’t understand what was going on.

Improving the flow was tricky. We wanted to edit the UI, but we couldn’t risk breaking the experience for the users who were playing with the system out in front. Instead, we made use of the hot-fix system from before. While two of us manned the machine, the other two were hard at work in the back, pushing updates in real time and polishing up the experience.

For anyone who visited the first day, all we had was a simple 16-girl grid. By the afternoon, we had implemented an Undo button, and by the dawn of Friday, users could restart the process, refresh the grid, and even restore their girl from a backup if the system crashed.

A Heroic Age

After an absolutely hectic first day of running around and patching issues, we entered Friday with little expectations. But the word had spread – and apparently, the design of booth paid off greatly. People were intrigued by the idea of a vending machine as much as they were by the prospect of AI-powered designer commissions. As friends brought more friends, we soon had a perpetual crowd surrounding the front of the table.

To handle this influx of people, we converted two of the laptops to clients, laying them out in the tables next to the machine. Of course, this meant that server was under even more load – at some point, we even used the printer (??) as a router when the Android device began giving away.

Они являются всеобщими любимицами, за их «жизнью» (контентом, в котором они присутствуют) пристально следят, о них мечтают. Индустрия видит запрос и отвечает различным мерчем, продолжениями, кроссоверами и концертами.

Айдол отличается от вайфу тем, что первая имеет сравнительно большую популярность и является общественной ценностью. Вокруг них образуются фан-клубы, в которых много спорят о том, какой у неё на самом деле у неё характер, но никто из присутствующих не отстаивает своё единоличное право на данную девочку. Отношение к айдолу такое же: несколько отстранённое, айдол всё же воспринимается как персонаж, находящийся выше по социальной лестнице.

Хотя заиметь её в качестве вайфу вам тоже никто не помешает, пусть и будут смотреть на вас с осуждением.

Среди виабу часто использование термина «богиня» в том же значении, что и «госпожа», но я бы хотел тут обсудить немного другой феномен — религиозный. Богиня — это особая категория девушек, к которым оказывается максимальное уважение, граничащее с религиозным. Их чтят, им поклоняются, посвящают храмы, устраивают ритуалы в их честь.

В отличии от других категорий, где сексуальный интерес разрешён в зависимости от обстоятельств, к богиням запрещено испытывать сексуальный интерес и связывать их с какими-либо фетишами (помню, в одном храме мне сделали выговор за арт девушки в купальнике). Додзинси с ними не ищут, а если случайно нашли, то скорее закрывают вкладку и перекрещиваются.

Богиню должно уважать — и не только её почитателям, но и всем виабушникам в целом. Богини общеприняты. За непочтительное отношение к богине могут последовать санкции.

Лично я считаю, что богиней, как и госпожой, должны становиться в основном предрасположенные к этому персонажи, например Ивакура Лейн, Юки Нагато или Канаме Мадока, которые стали настоящими божествами в рамках своего тайтла. Но опять же, виабушников никто не в силах остановить и та же Хатсуне Мику тоже является богиней в ограниченных кругах.

Then there’s the blend of the two, what might be described as a «dark bishounen», a beautiful youth that has a dark side that the fan attracted to them imagines being the sole person in the world who can «fix» them, at least in the realm of daydreams. And then of course we have the always enjoyable all-around badass: a strong, attractive man who’s clearly the hero, but still has an edge to him that keeps him interesting as an imaginary life partner.

Many of these waifu and husbando characters share things in common, apart from their attractiveness. One is that they often already have fans or crushes within their own universe, increasing their attractiveness. Also, there is the occasional waifu or husbando who is attractive merely for displaying yuri or yaoi tendencies.

Vampire: The Masquerade — Coteries of New York – будущая игра от польской студии Draw Distance. В начале недели разработчик поделился с нами первыми подробностями о своем проекте.

Coteries of New York вдохновлена играми от ныне мертвой Talltale, однако в отличие от их проектов, она будет не интерактивным приключениям, а полноценной визуальной новеллой. Как минимум, такие ощущения возникают от просмотра скриншотов преальфа версии игры.

Играем мы по классике за новообращённого молодого сородича, присоединяющегося к «Камарилье» – фракции, которая на данный момент контролирует вампирский мир и охраняет Маскарад. В дальнейшем герой встретит и другие каноничные фракции, а также соберет свою группировку.

Главный аспект игры – выбор. От него будет меняться сюжет игры, а также взаимоотношения с членами вашей группы. Также на историю будут влиять следующие компоненты:

Вы наверняка слышали о легендарной настольной игре Dungeons&Dragons и о её культурном влиянии, в том числе и на гейминдустрию. Немного о том, как вообще это играется. Dungeons&Dragons основана на разговорах. Гейм-мастер [один из игроков] придумывает историю, которая основана на правилах вселенной. В итоге он и 5 игроков из его команды вместе проходят эту историю.

У каждого персонажа есть свои перки, а вероятность удачно применить их зависит от броска кубика. Поступки же персонажа полноценно зависят от игрока, который может по-разному действовать в сложившихся ситуациях.

Напомним, что Dungeons&Dragons – это одна из самых любимых игр в гик культуре всех времен. Ею увлекались в свое время самые известные личности, например Джордж Р.Р. In fact, she’s over 1000 years old, and even has her own children by the time you finish Fire Emblem Awakening.

Despite being sold into slavery early in her life, Nowi remains optimistic – after all, she still has thousands of years left to live.

Another franchise with many lovely waifu candidates is Disgaea, which continues pumping the world full of adorable demons, angels, artificial lifeforms, and everything in-between.

According to her Overwatch comrades, she makes terrible coffee – but she’s a gifted medical doctor. She’d keep you alive and save you a ton on hospital bills.

As is the case with most of Overwatch’s cast, there is a ton of Mercy fan art online, ranging from beautiful illustrations to high-quality 3D animations – both SFW and NSFW.

16. Princess Peach

Game: Super Mario Bros.

After her first appearance in 1985, Princess Toadstool has conquered the hearts of generations – quickly becoming a synonym with video games like her beloved Mario.

She used to also be a synonym with damsels in distress.

But more recent games have portrayed Peach as an accomplished athlete, precise racer, and self-sufficient hero.

But beware: royal public relations are complicated.

And you’d have to put up with Mario being her official partner in the eyes of the media.

It’s a steep price for a royal waifu.

15. Quiet

Game: Metal Gear Solid V

Some might fault me for giving this spot to a girl who doesn’t have a single line of dialogue.

But in Quiet’s case, it actually gives her character a lot of depth.

This sexy sniper won’t speak a word to anyone in Mother Base, because if she did, she would start the spread of a terrible parasitic disease.

Parasites are also the reason for her bold outfit choices.

Unique parasites were used to heal her after Big Boss set her on fire in the game’s opening mission. They couldn’t save her lungs, so now she breathes through her skin.

If you value a girl who’s efficient and objective-driven, this silent female Rambo can become a trusted companion.

14. Cortana

Game: Halo

We all need to move to a new city or quarantine for medical reasons at some point – and loneliness can be crippling.

So why don’t you date Cortana?

This blue holographic hottie is a UNSC-developed sentient AI who’ll never leave your side.

After all, she lives in a portable chip you can plug into basically anything.

Despite being a computer program, Cortana has a witty and playful personality.

She’s great for deep conversations and heated debates.

13. Lara Croft

Game: Tomb Raider

Lara Croft is a gaming icon from the late 90s, who’s known how to re-invent herself to get with the times and remain relevant.

Since the 2013 reboot of the series, Lara has gone from playboy girl territory to something a little bit more realistic – though your heart would still skip a beat if you saw her walking down the street.

This adventurous archaeologist is always off on an adventure, so you better be ready to move if you want the Tomb Raider to be your waifu.

12. Bayonetta

Game: Bayonetta

If this ranking focused exclusively on sexiness, Bayonetta would be at the top. There’s just no competition.

This powerful Umbra witch has a dreamlike body and a killer fashion sense that always made it hard for me to concentrate on cutting down foes.

What seems like a tight leather or latex outfit is none other than her hair, magically wrapped around her curves to create a skin-tight bodysuit.

She also needs to use that hair as a medium to summon demons, so the sight of a stark-naked Bayonetta power posing next to a giant bad-ass fiend is not uncommon.

If her experienced allure isn’t enough to convince you, I’ll let you in on a little secret:

Her real name is actually “Cereza,” which means cherry in Spanish.

Isn’t that the cutest thing?

11. Princess Zelda

Game: The Legend of Zelda

The original Legend of Zelda came out back in 1986 – long before the term “waifu” started circulating in English-speaking circles, and long before having a fictional sweetheart was a thing.

You could say Zelda herself was one of the first proto-waifus for gamers back in the late 80s.

She may have been just a bunch of pixels with little dialogue to speak of, but after braving the dangers of Hyrule for her sake, it’s easy to become attached.

By the time A Link to the Past rolled around in 1991, Zelda had a more distinctive design with pointed ears and a royal dress that finally allowed players to properly fawn over the official artwork.

Nowadays, gamers get to pick which version of Zelda to call their waifu.

There’s the cold and regal one from Twilight Princess, the adorably homey one from Skyward Sword, and the list goes on.

10. Catherine

Game: Catherine Classic

Having a cheerful and upbeat girlfriend with a killer body and a cute face – a girl like Catherine – is every man’s dream.

That’s as true for the main character Vincent as it is for the player.

I know what you’re thinking:

“Weren’t half the endings in Catherine a bloody mess?”

It’s to be expected when you’re two-timing a demon – especially one as possessive as Catherine.

But that shouldn’t be an issue for us flesh and blood humans.

Ask your local pastor. It’s not cheating if she’s 2D.

9. Palutena

Game: Kid Icarus

On the other side of the good vs. evil scale, we find Palutena – a gorgeous Goddess of Light with a soft spot for humanity.

Much like she champions humankind, Palutena would be your personal cheerleader.

Moreover, it’s always good to have friends in high places.

Palutena is written like a genuinely fun person to be around. She’s funny, spontaneous, and very kind – though she can be a little selfish and proud at times.

It’s only fair, considering she’s a goddess.

8. Amber

Game: Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact was one of the biggest games to come out in 2020.

And that is (probably) 100% thanks to its fantastic waifu catalog.

Amber is the first character you’ll meet in Mondstadt – and the first waifu you’ll have under your command.

She’s not the smartest, but this Outrider of the Knights of Favonius is resourceful and devoted to justice.

She also looks great in tight shorts and thigh-high boots.

Amber has a high-energy, straightforward personality that makes her endearing for a lot of people.

Her dancing booby trap – the Baron Bunny – is also adorable, and the memes are priceless.

7. Mona Megistus

Game: Genshin Impact

If you go up one more star in Genshin Impact’s rarity rating, you’ll find Mona, a Mondstadt-based astrologist appreciated by fans for her shapely butt and revealing outfit.

You can’t really blame it on the fandom being horny, though.

MiHoYo knew what they were doing with Mona.

Her design is exceptionally sexy, and every story cutscene involving her starts or ends with a shot of her bubble butt.

She’s also a skilled Hydro spellcaster who’ll drown your enemies in glittery magical water, making her both a lovely waifu and a powerful addition to any adventuring party.

6. Mipha

Game: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Zelda may be the series’ protagonist, but she’s not the best waifu material in her own legend.

That accolade goes to Mipha, the champion of the Zora people who pilots the Divine Beast Van Ruta against Calamity Ganon in Breath of the Wild.

Mipha has the childhood friend appeal to complement her adorable appearance.

Her face and demeanor couldn’t be cuter – and she’s a red Zora!

In my time, we only had the light blue kind (shout-out to Princess Ruto, also a major TLOZ waifu).

5. Isabelle

Game: Animal Crossing

Hey, stop looking at me like that!

I know that Isabelle is technically a dog, which would qualify her as a pet rather than a waifu…

But that’s not what most people online are saying.

It’s hard not to love this adorable Shih Tzu after watching her give it her all as the Mayor’s secretary in New Leaf, an interior designer in Happy Home Designer, and a new resident advisor in New Horizons.

Human waifus are great and all.

But will they tap their foot when you scratch them behind the ears?

4. Samus

Game: Metroid

Samus Aran became the first playable female character in a mainstream video game after the release of Metroid for the NES, making her the most coveted video game waifu of 1986 and the following years.

Competition has become fiercer every year since then.

But Samus remains immensely popular thanks to an evolving design.

Her appearance in the Super Smash Bros. series has cemented her as a quintessential video game waifu, thanks to the Zero Suit outfit featured since Brawl.

This now-iconic look consists of a tight blue bodysuit, high-tech neon-lit heels, and a gun that doubles a plasma whip.

Kinda hard not to get some impure thoughts after seeing that ensemble.

3. Tifa Lockhart

Game: Final Fantasy VII Remake

It’s hard to find a female video game character more well-known for her waifu quality than Tifa Lockhart.

This eco-terrorist was everyone’s waifu back when Final Fantasy VII came out.

Not only was it one of the biggest games at the time, but Tifa’s design captured a generation of horny teenagers (and adults) who couldn’t overlook her voluptuous figure – even if it was a little polygonal.

I decided to give the spot to her Remake version for having more realistic (if ideal) proportions, and for wearing thigh-high socks.

What a way to improve a character!

Game: NieR Automata

Tifa’s ancient seat as the most coveted woman in video games is now held by NieR Automata’s 2B – a gorgeous battle android created to dominate the machine lifeforms that have occupied the Earth.

2B is made to look like the most beautiful human being possible, though it’s unclear how that’s supposed to help her kill machines.

She even has a beauty mark.

And the way her thighs slightly spill out of her thigh-high boots has nothing to do with combat.

That said, you’d do well to remember her primary function is dismantling dangerous robot weapons.

Make her angry at your own risk.

1. Makoto Nijima

Game: Persona 5

She may not be the most coveted, but the Phantom Thieves’ Makoto is by far the best video game waifu in our current video game climate.

Not only does she look gorgeous in both a school uniform and a bad-ass biker bodysuit, but she’s the smartest and most supportive girl in the entire game.

Persona 5 is full of incredible waifus.

But Makoto is the only one who doesn’t have some trauma or situation Joker can help her improve.

She has her stuff figured out from the get-go, and you spend your time together in the game trying to help others.

As a waifu, Makoto is the kind of girl who pushes you to improve yourself and reach your full potential.

She’d also look fabulous on a Harley Davidson.

Нарисуй свою вайфу

В итоге я забросил это дело, но чтобы не пропадать добру, решил поделиться со всеми.

В данную папку я поместил все, что связано с созданием персонажа. В размещенных здесь книгах разбирается поэтапное рисование всех частей тела. А так же вы узнаете как нарисовать чиби персонажей, монстров и лоль.

Здесь не так много книг. В них вы найдете как анимировать свою вайфу.

Из книги ты узнаешь не только как нарисовать рис или рамэн, но и как изобразить потребляющих все это персонажей.

Парочка книг по рисованию кисок, пёселей и других животных.

Теперь, когда вы можете нарисовать свою вайфу в комнате с куском торта в одной руке и котиком в другой, вам нужно ее приодеть. В представленных книгах вы найдете целый набор различных нарядов. Кроме того, вы узнаете как правильно рисовать складки на одежде и как одежда будет выглядеть при смене позы.

Большое количество книг, с множеством референсов, о том как нарисовать вашего персонажа в той или иной позе.

Если вам нравятся мехи, то эта папка для вас. Не особо это люблю.

В данной папке вы найдете книги о том, как нарисовать тян во всевозможных эротических позах. Также вы узнаете как нарисовать грудь и как она будет выглядеть в зависимости от ее размера. Одни из книг помогут вам правильно нарисовать щупальца, другие подскажут какие бывают позы в сексе.

Здесь, чтобы не разделять серии книг по темам, я собрал их все вместе. Одна серия может охватывать все темы, представленные выше.

В данных книгах объясняется как нарисовать огонь, круги от воды и т.п.

Сюда я закинул все, что не смог отнести к другим темам. Здесь вы найдете информацию, как рисовать в виде живописи, о цветокоррекции, как нарисовать стимпанк мир и т.д.

Где/как/сколько учился так рисовать?

Раз уж все делятся, тоже скину мой прогресс с аниме тянками за год.

Ты до этого рисовал или с нуля учился?

Зачем столько трудов и матчасти, когда можно просто референсы срисовывать, всё равно никто не заметит. Контента в интернетах накопилось столько, что любых поз, эффектов и фонов на десятки лет хватит.

Мне никогда не давалось рисование, эх

Тоже год назад начал постигать рисование в анимешной стилистике в векторной графике. Ориентировался на кучу разных работ из Гугл картинок. Камнем преткновения стали задники, которые не особо то хотелось прорабатывать (деревья, облака) выходом из положения стало накидывание коллажа из реальных деревьев и облаков с последующим накидыванием акварельного эффекта. Может кому пригодится данная заметка

А какая база навыков и знаний была изначально? По моему очень круто, если это с нуля за год до такого уровня дошли. Теней только не хватает.

Когда-нибудь я научусь текстурить.

А так зря ты это, я вот где-то уже полторагода или дальше больше как начал рисовать, с перерывами, с очень маленьким прогрессом, но всё равно это так круто. Когда-нибудь и вайфу мечты нарисую.

Жесть тут контента, ну ты и заморочился. Я всегда находил буквально пару пдф файлов которые были одни и те же на всех сайтах.

А вот мои старание за несколько дней когда-то.

А зачем учиться рисовать аниме-стилистику, если можно поучиться просто основам рисования? Принципы, по идее, те же самые?

Я один что-то делаю не так, и у меня по переходу по всем ссылкам 404?

Судя по количеству скачанного даже в первой папке, ты вместо того чтоб учиться что-то делать ушел в сбор материалов (и не вернулся). Имхо. )

Нарисовал свою новую тульпочку

Но она все равно похожа на Леночку.

Умение рисовать это практика и адский труд, развитое пространственного мышления, глазомера, ощущения тона, а не куча книг.
Можно прочитать дофига литературы, но классно, или хотя бы правильно рисовать ты не станешь, запутаешься и поплывёшь при первом же геометрическом переносе трёхмерного объёма на плоскость, в погони за ускользающей хитрой игрой света и тени, реалистичного изображения массы различных материалов с их фактурой, блеском, отражениями и тд.
А опытный художник всё это делает за мгновения, просто точными мазками расставляя различные цветовые пятна в правильном сочетании. Это реально магия какая-то которой люди добиваются годами.

Имеется одиночный режим, где ты пройдешь по сюжетной линии, с массой поворотов событий. Welcome to Waifu Labs v2: How do AIs Create?

If you haven’t already had a chance to try out the new Waifulabs v2 Model, check it out now!

In the two years since we first launched our our anime portraits AI project, Waifu Labs, our inhuman artist has been hard at work. Recently, it finished drawing its 20-millionth commission (quite an achievement for any artist!)

To count down the release of Arrowmancer, our mobile game illustrated using AI, we’re releasing a series of posts addressing the topic of artificial creativity.

Starting with the number one question: how do AIs (or even humans for that matter) create?

How Does it Work?

The type of AI that powers Waifu Labs is called a Generative Adversarial Network. We made an explainer video on how the technology works!

You can think of it as a pair of AIs that spar against each other in order to learn:

Both AIs are exposed to anime data from human artists and offered feedback on how they performed on their respective tasks. At the very end, we separate out the Generator and run it as the artist behind the scenes.

It is interesting to note that like human rivals, it is imperative that they grow at the same rate. When one AI dominates the other, both stop learning.

Below, you can see the Generator’s progress: we’ve collected samples of the work that it produces as it trains. We’ve measured the training time in “steps.”

Step 0: You can see that the AI starts off with absolutely no idea what “art” is. The first picture it draws is noise, a random splash of primordial test-tube goop. It will bumble around like this for a while, trying out strategies to draw more like the human art that it sees.

Step 1024: We see the beginnings of a face come in.

Step 4096: Slightly style-specific features, anime-like strands of hair, start to emerge

Step 13516: We find that, just like human artists, the AI always learns how to draw the eyes first.

Step 23961: Secondary features like ears and shoulders start to come in.

Step 40564: Gradually, the murky shapes resolve into real features. As the size of the features get smaller and smaller, they give the illustration its “texture” and “style.” Color will be the last to come in.

Step 43636: During this phase, the training gets unstable at times, so we have snapshots of occasional horrors like this.

Step 50000: The final result!

For this particular AI, we are able to parallelize the training by building a mini-supercomputer in our living room from scratch to accommodate its specific needs — though that merits its own story another time.

All in all, the Waifu Labs AI took about 2 weeks to reach the quality you see today.

Building a Mental Representation

It is interesting to note that from this process, the AI is not merely learning to copy the works it has seen, but forming high-level (shapes) and low-level (texture) features for constructing original pictures in its own mental representation.

Human artists also have this mental representation in their meat-brains. For many artists, this representation lives beyond the realm of conscious thought in the domain of intuition. This mental representation grows throughout the artist’s lifetime: it matures as a combination of practicing art and the accumulating life experience on the meat-body.

With an AI, the mental representation is locked the moment the training stops, so we can then take it out and peer directly at it. It looks a bit like a coordinate system, and we call this the latent space.

By isolating the vectors that control certain features, we can create results like

Some coordinates in latent space are definitely weird. Our favorite is this gal, affectionately nicknamed “bighead.”

Latent space is immeasurably huge. Parched. Devoid of content. We wade through vast deserts of average artwork to find the coordinates for alluring, captivating characters. Cataloging these coordinates allows us to do cool tricks, like morph between characters.

You can also see the latent space mapping in action on Waifu Labs: by separating the coordinates that control pose, colors, and details, we can create an interface where humans can commission the AI artist to draw what they want!

How do you measure creativity?

A large part of developing the AI is the evaluation of performance, which brings up the philisophical argument of how do you evaluate creativity? Conventionally, FID is the score used to score generative AIs, but this was not quite sufficient for our needs.

To properly score the results of our AI artist, we took a rubric from another domain. Namely, the qualitative rubric that commercial art directors use to evaluate freelance artists.

Closing thoughts

Of course, it’s not sufficient to define the sum of creativity by its usefulness in commercial application. However, using these metrics, we were able to reach a good proxy and make an AI formats its outputs in a way that can drive the core creative design and production pipeline of a commercial product.

The creative industry and the act of creativity are two different, deeply intertwined concepts. Though we may never breatch the mystiques of the later, we can peer at it through the lens of the former.

When we first approached studios with our AI work, the primary response we received was bewilderment. While we could fulfill the above requirements for freelance illustration, there was no existing project that made use of the concept of infinitely customizable, combineable illustration.

And so we set out to do it ourselves: we made a game that leverages the the unique aspects of generative AI. Is is our hope it will usher in a new age of creativity, a collaborative model of asset production between human and machine creatives!

So, after seeing too many harem series, I made a quest.
A lot of IS and it’s innumerable derivatives, a lot of Muv-Luv (very Ironic I know), a lot of Knight Run, some Sentou Yousei Yukikaze, mixed together with my personal antipathy for harem series, we get this.

The year is 2070 Common Era.

Or 58 years Past Impact if you prefer.

It has been 58 years since the old world ended.

The touchdown of the jet on tarmac was soft, computer guided control surfaces and thrusters ensuring the landing was barely noticeable. The magnetic clamps locking down on the body of the plane was not, the flight control computer apparently deciding better sure than sorry.

Military transport jets had few comforts and comfortable seats happened to not be one of them. Absently rubbing at the back of your head, you take a look outside as the jet is guided into the underground hanger, the weak sunlight and dusty Earth replaced by harsh white illumination strips and ceramic tiles.

The safety lights flashes green and you unclasp the safety harness, slam down the armrest to collapse the seat and collect your duffel bag alongside the three dozen odd other passengers. All through the flight, you had been the subject of discreet stares and hushed conversation, a trend that did not change now. As someone sitting in the back of the plane, you had the honour of disembarking first, meaning you could feel the stares boring into your back. You patiently endured it despite the raised hairs on the back of your neck, waiting until the ramp was fully depressed to step off.
It was not because of your looks, you thought you looked rather average. It was not your clothing, you wore the same tracksuit, naval blue with gold trim as everyone else did. It was your gender.

Rather, it was because you were a guy. The other thirty or so passengers were all girls.

Ignoring the stares still drilling into your back, you glance down at your datapad, which was tracing a path towards your room, and make your way through the halls. On the way, you received more stares from the women whom seemed to make up the entire staff of the base, mostly silent and assessing, though a couple burst into giggles as you walked by.

Entering your room, you dump down your bag and take it in. Walls painted a neutral off-white, a single glow strip in the ceiling, a holoscreen currently depicting the outside world and two single beds set on opposite sides of the room, each with a small cupboard set against the head, and an attached bathroom. Your room mate had already arrived, a dress uniform neatly arranged on the bed and a few personal effects on top of their cupboard. For a moment you felt like walking over to peruse the few photos there, but you restrain yourself.

Checking the time, it was another two hours till orientation assembly and with nothing else to do, you flick the holoscreen to news with your datapad and sit down on your bed.

«-the latest report suggest the clean-up operations following the recent Alaskan offensive is proceeding well ahead of schedule. With the destruction of three minor Breaches in a record breaking, lightning fast two week campaign and the elimination of two Type Zero AGs on top of that, our analyst suggest that the Western Seaboard of the North American continent will be completely cleared of hostiles within months.»

Footage rolls across the screen in tandem with the voiceover, showing the hulk of an AG battleship, charred and deformed to be barely recognisable after falling out of orbit. Reserve armour units idling under the midday sun next to their air carriers, the small dots of pilots and drivers waiting under the shade cast by their machines. Flashes in the sky lighting up the night sky in tandem with a red glow along the horizon. A shot from out at sea of enormous swaths of smoke rising from the distant shore where hydrocarbon deposits must have been ignited. An ominous spherical shadow, most of the dome hidden by the horizon and distance, of a destroyed Hive, the remaining funnel clouds of an active breach dissipating in the time accelerated footage.

«Marshal of the Armed Forces Arrakesh released a statement earlier today supporting our projections.»

A spokesman walks up to a podium, tapping the mike twice to begin a presentation on the screen behind him. You watch on, absently absorbing the news as you wait.

«As always, we begin with the Valkyries units whom made our offensive possible,» shots of many faces appeared on screen, all female, «without their remarkable courage in breaking through the frontlines of the Antagonists and destroying the hardened enemy defensive redoubts, as well as their suppression of the Type Zeros Aeon and Sekhmet, our victory, had it come at all, would have been again bloody and eked out over many months.»

A brief medal award ceremony was next. The Valkyries, not physically present but projected into the air via holographic technologies, appeared in a row, some stoic, some smiling and waving. Without their weapon systems extended from the interdimensional storage space of the Valkyrie core, they looked like standard light infantry troops in semi powered armour, though the plates were somewhat thinner than even that, giving the illusion of frailty to strongest armour system humanity had.

The medals were awarded and the holograms faded out, leaving the Valkyrie symbol floating in air for a few moment before fading. You absently rub at the patch on your shoulder where the very same symbol was stiched. The texture of the words «UNAF» «AAG1» «VALKS» cradled by the laurel wreath felt strange under your fingers.

You are a members of the United Nations Air Force. As someone compatible with the Valkyrie Cores, you make up a part of humanity’s most powerful weapon. The Valkyrie Core integrates and improves upon any technology it is exposed to, from simple wrist watches to nuclear reactors. Initially used for utilities and reconstruction in the wake of Impact, the emergence of the Antagonists rapidly changed the role of Valkyries from civil to military, from wanted to needed.

The only drawback in the Valkyrie cores was that the ratio of compatibility was skewered towards women. Heavily.

Amongst the twenty thousand or Valkyries in service currently, there were less than one hundred men.

That made you part of the 0.5% of the entire force whom was male.

You suppose some of those other guys might have felt proud. You?

The door opens. You glance over, your roommate was staring at you, eyes wide, before they slam the door back shut.

You just felt awkward.

If you have read this far, then you have gotten your first look at the main character of this story.
