The player must defeat waves of enemies in turn-based battles located within the stage in order to progress forwards and unlock new stages. And big surprise, it’s a gacha RPG game. With tons of characters with unique attributes, spell cards, and story cards. There is quite a bit to this game, but we’ve picked through everyone and spent some time making you this tight tier list so please check it out.

We love the concept of this game. The idea of words going missing is very unique and a really compelling idea that we’ve rarely seen explored before. So once you stack all the characters and learn their best use. who is the best and who is the worst in Touhou Lost Word?

Tier S+

The best warriors for battle. Excel in all aspects of warfare.

Tier S

VERY CLOSE to being as perfect as above roster.

Tier A

On par with S tier in every aspect but power. In the right conditions, they shine.

Tier B

These are great characters for new players. Not perfect but well balanced.

Tier C

These characters are mostly beginner-tier characters and are not so great to play with if you have some experience with the game.

Tier D

Kinda basic. Even upgrading them doesn’t make them closer to the S rankings.

As you can see, there’s an awful lot of characters here. Several of them are variations on base characters, with different stats and moves to boot. We’ve based our rankings on the official tier list, combined with a deep comb into ATK and DEF stats, as well as potential for upgrades.

The first character you start with in Touhou Lost Word is Reisen Udongein Inaba, who starts as a one-star friend. However, the ability to fully upgrade them means the starter friend can greatly increase in power.

At the start of the game, you get a special Tutorial Roll, a forced ten-pull on the general banner, and thirty draws (150 Seal Crystals and 45000 Coins).
The Tutorial Roll will always give one, and exactly one, of these units, along with nine Story Cards.

Our Touhou Lost Word Tier List assigns each character a ranking based on how well they do in combat.

A strategic turn-based and gacha game called Touhou Lost Word was created by NextNinja in 2020. The setting of the game is a world in which there has been a “lost word accident”. In which words have vanished, spreading chaos everywhere and endangering the foundation of Gensokyo. You must have the best character to win, and to get the best character, and you need our Touhou Lost Word Tier List.

You play as the main hero and travel across numerous realms to win the game and recover the lost words to stop such catastrophic harm. A special task force is formed to discover and gather all the missing words.

What Is The Touhou Lost Word Tier List?

This Touhou Lost Word Tier List Tier List includes each character from Touhou Lost Word. Use it to identify which are most beneficial. All of them are mentioned on the list based on how powerful each one is in the game.

With S-Tier being the finest and C-Tier being the poorest, each combatant is given a rating from S and C. Therefore, let’s begin.

S-Tier

S-Tier Friends are always a smart option. You can count on these Friend’s skills and power capacity because they are the finest in Touhou Lost Word.

Yuuka

Yuuka Kazami helps you out in two ways: first, she hits hard using the All-Targeting Last Words. Secondly, she comes prepared with a variety of All-targeting Magic Cards for usage in the arena, farming, and event-driven first-time clear bonuses for Seal Crystals.

She doesn’t have much utility and has subpar breaks. But she still has enough power in her strikes to be beneficial.

Tenshi

Tenshi Hinanawi can do a lot of damage rapidly. She doesn’t have a lot of useful abilities. The only one that stands out is P0 Earth, mostly on a Basic Shot. Though she strikes so badly that it’s difficult to care too much.

Toyohime

As the person, Lady Yagokoro trusted with the Abundant Temple for Wealth and Equality. Toyohime excels in her capacity as a healer. She also grants the team attack boosts so they can continue and fight the opponent with the strength befitting a Lunarian.

Hence her function goes beyond providing many great heal and barrier repairs. She excels in every function, contributes to a wide range of recent works, and will probably definitely continue to do so in future battles.

Tewi is an incredibly strong DEF Down support with a devastating final nuke. Getting the most out of her requires some caution because a large portion of her utility stems from talents that must be employed with care.

She also has trouble with 2 or 3 boss stages. Even though she shines at one enemy event farm and can enable several main plot boss farms, any player will be more than pleased to have her despite those little imperfections.

Marisa

The Witch of the Scarlet Dreams, Marisa Kirisame, is a remarkably strong and adaptable unit that may very well have the best long-term worth in the whole game and our Touhou Lost Word Tier List.

She can do everything thanks to a combination of a devastatingly potent All-targeting Last Word that provides enormous damage for both farming and tougher fights, the two All-targeting Magic Cards, a tonne of team assistance, and unmatched access to Elemental Break.

Youmu

Youmu, the mysterious and powerful Sword Master, is a terrifyingly potent nuker with absurdly high Slicing and the Last Word that ranks among the greatest damage producers both for farming and more difficult encounters.

She just contributes breaks to the squad. However, she hits so powerfully that it just doesn’t matter, speeding up even time.

Suika

Suika Ibuki is an astonishingly potent unit. She has excellent team assistance, including Yin and Yang Defense Down, Yin Attack Up, as well as Precision Up.

Additionally, the All-Last Word does excellent penetration at 1 Power and scales nicely with more Spirit Power. She also has some good Barrier Breaks, including a basic shot that can be repeatedly fired that delivers 1 Fire Break for 0 Power.

Sagume

Sagume excels in terms of team usefulness and offers remarkably all-encompassing assistance. She may be of considerable assistance to the squad because of her strong barrier breakdowns and superior damage.

Aunn Komano exemplifies the ideal Support Friend by putting it all in the line to maintain the other members of her team. She possesses a wide range of abilities, including help with the attack, defense, as well as accuracy.

Remilia

Remilia may have sacrificed it all in the L80 reality, but she keeps working to make amends and take control of the situation. She certainly holds up as the first Relic character in the game. Koakuma, whose name translates to “Little Devil,” is a powerful character that carries Yin & Critical Defense Down support, does a huge amount of damage alone, and has some good Break potential. An excellent unit for tougher battles and a capable farmer.

Youmu

Youmu Konpaku, the Unknown Sword Master, is a terrifyingly potent nuker with absurdly high Slicing and the Last Word that ranks among the greatest damage dealers for both farming and more difficult encounters.

Hatate

With a significant number of Agility buffs to complement her Slice bullets and an equally remarkable number of Accuracy boosts that can be readily shared with other Friends, Hatate Himekaidou comes as swiftly as she can in the fight.

Shou is a vindictive attacker with a P0 Sun as well as a Pagoda Tank who is ready to pound your adversaries. She isn’t a particularly excellent All farmer, but thanks to her Human killer, she can become a successful Solo farmer on certain one-boss levels.

Kaguya

Kaguya can maintain the Evasion for such a long time that it would be a reasonable choice! The fact that it is Ultra Festival and she has exceptionally high Yang attack, and Agility numbers also helps.

Kosuzu

The Piercing (defense buff disregarding) damage on Kosuzu’s Last Word is her biggest selling feature. She is a desirable buddy to farm 2-7-1 because of this. Do bear in mind that it has a significant impact on her Farm rating.

Reimu

Yorihime

Medicine

Medicine Melancholy is one of the closest things to a wild card this game offers. She shines in boss farming and challenging battles. She can full break any foe that isn’t resistant to poison, which is uncommon because of her plethora of poison barriers or the last Word having a lot of poison on it.

Shion

Shion’s two tasks are to deal a lot of Yin and Yang Defense down and burn barriers to your opponent and to eliminate one opponent with a very strong Solo Last Word.

A-Tier

Below S-Tier, under which the combatants are primarily solid and have little else to offer, is Touhou Lost Word A- tier list. They are incredibly helpful and fulfill a crucial duty, but they don’t do much else.

Friends who only have really strong damage will probably land in this tier since moving up requires additional skills like having team utility and breaking.

Meiling

Meiling was formerly the game’s weakest link. She has now been boosted to the level of becoming one of the most powerful. She is one of the best choices for event farming, and she is also able to farm Chapter 3 Act 1 alongside Tewi.

Merlin

Merlin is a reliable frontloaded Solo-targeting nuker with good Yang Defense down & Accuracy support. Her only significant weaknesses are mixed damage (which lowers her potential relative to other Solo nukers) and middling Breaks.

Seiga

Seiga Kaku’s primary objective is to dash past the adversaries, continuously reduce their Dexterity and Yin Defense, and then turn around to use the Last Word finisher while her Agility boosts are still active. This occasionally becomes difficult due to the backloaded form of her spells.

Kokoro

Kokoro is a capable healer with a broad range of abilities who can deal out some unexpectedly potent damage. A P0 Break with her Focus Shot is one of her 12 Earth Breaks, which she also owns. She is a strong all-around friend who contributes significantly.

Mamizou

Mamizou is the best anti-Yin tank thanks to her incredibly strong Evasion UP, Focus UP, with Yin Defense UP values. The tanuki has lots of tricks up her sleeve to fend off those bothersome Yin attackers when you combine this with some amazing Breaks, such as a P0 single aiming Earth Break on a spammable standard shot.

Lyrica

However, that’s about it for Lyrica as a Support Friend. She offers a wide range of helpful qualities through her Skills and Ability. Once it comes to breaking, she often performs poorly, and the Single-targeting Last-Word is similarly unremarkable.

Suwako

Suwako Moriya is here to perform three tasks: party, curse her adversaries with Yin Defense Down, and obliterate them with a potent Solo Last Word. She is a buddy you just can’t go wrong with because she is both a competent farmer and a potent challenge unit with the ability to break certain barriers.

Eirin

Due to her continued defensive posture, Eirin from the Eternal Night Event has gone all-out with her offensive medication and harm.

You can anticipate that this doctor will fortify herself using defensive buffs by administering Poison and Blind to herself whilst applying the same oddities to enemies to keep them sick rather than curing her comrades.

Koishi

Except for the Solo-targeting Last Word, Koishi only strikes very hard in bouts she has a chance to build up. She has relatively little team functionality and is a mediocre farmer on levels that are favorable to solo players. However, Koishi is your gal if you do ever need to have a single, meaty target dead or just Water Breaks.

Nemuno

Nemuno is a straightforward youkai with straightforward tasks. Applying two Paralyze Walls to all adversaries and punishing one adversary with a backloaded Single targeting Last Word. She isn’t a speedy farmer, and the fact that her kit is backloaded makes her less appealing than the competitors, but she’ll get your job done.

Yuugi

Yuugi’s activities are to attack a single target hard and provide your Killer buddies CRIT attack up. She also offers some respectable breaks, most memorably The All-targeting Star at P0 on a straightforward stroke.

Sakuya

Marisa Kirisame, a greedy damage dealer using four All-Spell Cards, guides fresh entrants hard with her remarkably strong Card, Master Spark. Unfortunately, as the early game finishes, people start Max Limit Breaking their Friends.

Kanako

Kanako is a monster, delivering massive damage and even increasing the team’s CRIT attack and Yin attack while debuffing the adversaries’ CRIT Defense. Her breaks are decent, but she excels at Metal.

Rumia

Rumia is a solo-targeting nuker who offers some assistance to teammates who gain from having blind barriers placed around them. Although rather limited, it offers good assistance when a unit gains. In contrast, she strikes single targets forcefully while bringing certain Breaks (even Blind Breaks) with her.

Mokou

Fujiwara no Mokou can both produce and shatter Burn Barriers on any foe who isn’t immune to them, making her a Solo Last Word damage generator with above-average Break potential.

Since she doesn’t have to bother about resistance, she makes for quite an effective event farmer. Her biggest problem is that she only has damage to provide in tough battles, not even elements.

Flandre

With several restrictions, Flandre Scarlet is a Companion with a devastatingly potent Solo Last Word and considerable offensive utility. She has very little Break potential and needs a lot of Accuracy-Up help since her Last-Word is so imprecise.

Shizuha

Shizuha is a decent supporter. She contributes a special Spirit Power support for the entire squad, accuracy support, the opportunity to utilize Paralyze Barriers, and great accessibility to Wood and Metal. She is, regrettably, plagued with minimal overall damage.

Yatsuhashi

Yatsuhashi can do decent damage, provide some team boosts, and bring additional Wood or Sun Breaks. That’s pretty much it. Her equipment is simple and ineffective.

Alice

Alice Margatroid thrives as a Friend who focuses solely on providing Precision and attack-up help to her comrades. Due to her relatively low personal damage, absence of elemental skills, and need for rounds to prepare for farming reasons.

Benben

Benben is a straightforward yet somewhat weak combatant with some solid Breaks.

Minoriko

Minoriko provides a plethora of healing, barrier restoration, barrier breaks, and an all-targeting Spell Card kit (and Last Word). She has modest damage and little offensive team assistance, but her strengths far exceed her weaknesses.

Lunasa

Lunasa is essentially ordinary, and she has average Break potential (with the notable P0 Water on a basic shot), a backloaded (and sadly inconsistent) Solo targeting Last Word, and respectable but not exceptional healing skills that are hampered by a shortage of Barrier restoration.

B-Tier

Although characters listed in the Touhou Lost Word Tier B-Tier list are good, their kits severely restrict how much they can tackle outside of their intended scope. Friends that get replaced by newer and better Friends typically end up in this area.

Patchouli

Patchouli Knowledge’s major claim to fame is her tremendous element spread, possessing access to each element, including the extremely strong Moon and Sun ones, meaning she can shatter at least two, if not three, barriers on almost any monster in the game.

Although Hina Kagiyama was unable to overcome her fate of only possessing Solo-targeting magic cards, she nonetheless has rather situational value with a Yin Last Word and the ability to reduce every opponent’s evasion.

Kogasa

With a surprising number of Water breakers, Kogasa may be quite useful in reducing the enemy’s barrier count, assuming they are vulnerable to Water. Having said that, she is fairly lackluster in comparison to other units.

Satori

Satori Komeiji is known most often for her Single-targeting Last Word, which does modestly high damage with little setup. She also has slightly better than average accessibility to Fire Breaks.

The remainder of her equipment is inadequate, and she can’t hit the heights that the other Solo nukers could in long bouts. Thus she’s simply mediocre overall.

Luna Child

Luna Child’s primary duty is to hit you hard with a Single Last Word, while her second job is to offer you some decent but far from exceptional accessibility to Moon Breaks. Unfortunately, she falls short of the true power players, placing her in a rather middle-of-the-road position.

Flower Aya has high usefulness and shattering power. She gives undetected accuracy help to her squad, as well as a good assortment of debuffs and two Blind anomalies. She excels in shattering because of the P0 shatter technique and a vast range of breaks.

Komachi

Aside from that, her Single-targeting Last Word isn’t particularly powerful, and the Shatter potential is limited. She’s only here for buffs and Dango.

Akyuu

Akyuu is a situational unit that is difficult to place on a squad since the bonuses she gives only affect a small subset of units. However, once she is relevant, Akyuu is extremely powerful owing to the potency of CRIT ATK mixed with how difficult it may be to get.

Reisen

Reisen Udongein Inaba distinguishes herself by getting access to Moon elemental attacks and being able to defeat the first main story fight at a lower level than anybody else. She can also utilize two Paralyze walls to all adversaries, which is useful for Accuracy and works well enough with Discharge attackers.

Kasen

Kasen Ibaraki is a self-centered damage provider with a Single Last Word built on one thing: striking hard. Either hitting rather hard on turn one, making her a decent farmer (if confined to Solo-friendly levels), or hitting incredibly hard if given enough prep time.

Yukari

Yukari is not well adapted to farming owing to the absence of impact from the Last Word on 1 Power, and her protective utility is essentially irrelevant in shorter battles.

Byakuren

Byakuren is a tank that can cheat certain earlier levels of a Scarlet Devil Tower and delivers a decent quantity of Sun Breaks at Three for Three Power from her first Spell Card. Aside from that, her damage is modest, she provides little uptempo offense utility, and she lacks defensive utility when matched with the other tanks.

Momiji

Momiji Inubashiri is concentrating on strengthening her Perspective while diminishing the Focus of her teammates to defend everybody with her powerful Yin DEF.

Unfortunately, she does not provide much else to combat; her defenses do not protect against Yang attacks, and her damage production and smashes are quite low.

Sanae

Sanae, who goes by the nickname Oracle, has a lot of strength because of her incredible dispersion of Star & Wood breaks, a lot of debuffs on the adversaries’ CRIT Defense and Evasion, as well as overall general assistance in the type of offensive boosts and healing.

She is a Friend that refuses to quit until the work is done, thanks to a passive that recovers 20% of her Health every round.

Lily White

As a Healer, Lily does the bare minimum to be deemed functional in the job. Recovering 1 block to all teammates after using her Last Word to assist them in going the additional mile to see combat through. Her firepower is otherwise poor, she has little offensive utility, her element access is simply adequate, and her Focus down actively kills her team.

Cirno

Cirno functions as a cheap wild card barrier buster that she can then dissolve with the Disintegrating All-target Last Word 90% of the time.

C-Tier

The “Not Useful” characters are placed in the Touhou Lost Word C-Tier List. Friends who are extremely out-of-date or who are of little to no utility are placed here. They may have a single specialized usage aspect, but it is just so little and easily missed that, regrettably, they cannot be classified higher than this.

Joon is a crapshoot that looks up to be a weak unit overall. Even with her selfish boosting, her damage production is roughly average. In terms of usefulness, Joon has a supporting Spell Card that delivers some good team boosts. These tools, while valuable, are outperformed in practically every way by another unit.

Star Sapphire

Star Sapphire’s objective is to smash one boss a little too hard and shatter several barriers along the road with a little below-average Solo Last Word.

Clownpiece

Clownpiece’s main roles are to attack hard with such a backloaded Solo aiming at Last Word and to inflict Blind Walls on all your enemies. She’s not very good at farming relevant plot card stages, but she’s nothing exceptional.

Sunny Milk

Sunny Milk’s access to Sunbreaks is limited, the Last Word is solitary and provides minimal damage, her total damage output is modest, and the gimmick of reducing enemy Accuracy is ineffective.

Seiran

Seiran gives you a mediocre quantity of the Moon and Earth breaks, and that’s about it. Her debuffs aren’t particularly useful, her damage is weak, and she doesn’t do much else.

Nitori

Nitori Kawashiro does not have many advantages. She only carries Single targeting Water and Metal elemental Spell Cards with 1 break at 0 Power and 1 additional break at P2 and P3.

Daiyaousei

Daiyousei is, sadly, this Touhou Lost Word Tier List’s poorest healer. Barrier restoration, the most effective kind of healing, is unavailable to her. Her secondary spell card is utterly useless, and her Last Word has been the poorest in the game, with no barrier breaches.

S+ are the Story Cards you generally want many MLB copies of. Their effects are commonly more versatile or just better than the S-tier Class.

S are the Story Cards that you want at least one MLB copy of, maybe more, and are amongst the most powerful, but tend to be useful on less units overall. They all have powerful effects.

A are the Story Cards that are still good and a new player will especially want to keep MLB copies of, but aren’t as strong as S rank cards or are a bit more niche.

B are the Story Cards that may have some uses, and certainly a new player can find use out of them, but are generally outclassed by Story Cards in the higher tier. Consider these the «budget» picks, or cards that are mainly only useful if you do not have cards that do the same thing but better. Some cards that only serve as decent stat sticks are here as well.

C are the Story Cards with fringe or marginal uses, but most players won’t find a ton of use for them. Additionally, less useful stat sticks will be placed into this category.

E are the Story Cards you’ll pretty much never use. These are safe to sell. D tier is skipped to reflect how useless these cards are.

Assumptions: Whilst all Story Cards are assumed to be Max Limit Broken (MLB) for the purpose of rating, Story Cards tend to benefit equally from being MLB vs being Limit Break 0. Story Cards may be weaker as a result than lower tier versions if they haven’t been fully Limit Broken and the lower tier one has been.

Addendum: As you may know, story cards are obtained from different sources, mainly from Prayers, Stage Drops, or Events (with very few being from special logins). These methods of obtaining cards are not considered for the sake of tiering a card’s effects, but you will likely see farmable story cards valued higher due to them being available at any time. Plus, some of their effects are just. good.

The Tier List is unordered, so only a card’s letter matters for their rank.

Story cards are filtered with colored borders based on how they are obtained: Red is for Prayer cards, Blue is for Event/EX stage cards, and Yellow is for Stage Drop cards. Currently there is no filter for limited/login cards, so they will appear Red as well.

Yuyuko Saigyouji

Yuyuko is the owner of the most powerful Last Word ability in the game: Saigyouji Parinirvana. It is so strong already at Power level 1 that she can be used at any farming event with no hesitation.

Once you scale it up to Power level 3, the damage scales up to 20 times as much, which is brutal to say the least.

Yuyuko is also immune to Poison status effect, and if she gets inflicted by Poison damage, her Spirit Power actually goes up by 20%.

Ran Yakumo

Food, Incense and its superior variant may have its uses, but they definitely won’t be as relevant as any of the previous segments. Still, it would be an oversight not to mention them, so let’s go over them now.

Foods

As for the other foods, they can either be bought in the School menu for a certain amount of Spirit Points or found when completing tasks. Wagashi is usually the most important to keep around, as it restores the most Food points and is the highest non-premium food. Otherwise, there is not much to say about these items, even though they do have “rarities” in the Items menu.

God Crystals can also be used to expand your maximum Food limit, but the extra slots gained are more relevant.

Incense

Where to spend: Increasing Friends’ Stats, Upgrading Friends

As for where you get these incense, they’re everywhere. Stage clears, task completion…you get so much of it that you should never realistically worry about running out. A very precious resource still, but once you’re done with it, you’re done with it.

As an expansion of the Superior Incense enhancements, Superior Incense Burners allow for you to increase Friends’ stats with Superior Incense beyonds its already-established limits! Each use of Burners will allow you to use 100 wood (for HP) or 20 wood (any other stat) to get in some extra buffs. The Burner cost for each additional boost beyond the initial limit will be 10 at first, then 20, then 30, then finally 40, meaning 100 Superior Incense Burners are needed to fully max a Friends’ stats via Superior Incense. In case you were wondering, this also means you need 500 HP wood and 100 of every other type of wood to max a Friend out. Pretty costly.

The best way to collect Superior Incense Burners is from the Arena Exchange within the exchange shops, visualized below. You can get Arena Points to obtain burners and even superior incense via clearing the Weekly Arena challenge with high scores! The Phantasm Arena also provides burners, but can be a lot more tricky than weekly.

For first-time gacha players looking to get a good head start in LostWord, or mobile veterans who know the name of the game by now, rerolling is an excellent idea. LostWord makes the process extremely easy and quick, and even the most casual player will be well served spending a few minutes getting an ideal starting account. This guide will explain what rerolling is, what the benefits are, and who you should reroll for.

What is rerolling?

Rerolling is generally defined as starting a new account, and using all the resources that are immediately available either after the tutorial or reasonably soon afterwards to get the best possible results within a reasonable timeframe. LostWord is, however, a bit different.

When starting a new account in LostWord, you are given a predetermined Tutorial Roll, a forced ten pull shortly after the tutorial on the general banner, and then thirty draws (150 Seal Crystals and 45000 Coins) from pre-registration rewards.

As this predetermined Tutorial Roll happens so soon, there are generally two categories of rerolls: those that simply try for the best possible Tutorial Roll result, and longer rerolls which go past that point for either additional characters or, depending on the active banner, a specific character not available in the Tutorial Roll.

Why Reroll?

All new accounts for LostWord are blessed with two very useful starting characters: Marisa Kirisame and Reimu Hakurei. Marisa will carry you through the levelling process, and Reimu will serve as a very powerful event farmer for a long time. You also get a free Sanae Kochiya.

With that said, while the combination of these two units makes any new account start off in a solid position, even one additional powerful unit can be a big help in the short-and-long run. As such, it is highly recommended, but completely optional, you at least reroll the Tutorial Roll.

Spirit Points (SP) : The other main currency of the game, this is like the «Stamina» of the game. Stages with battles will cost Spirit Points to attempt. Spirit Points are also used to purchase food for the School.

Story Stages: The story of the game. Main Story and Hifuu LostWord can be split into these identifiers: Chapter number, Episode number, and Stage number counting from bottom to top. For example, Chapter 1, Episode 5, Stage 4 is known as 1-5-4.

Exchange Shop: A central hub for Event Exchange shop, Token shop, Coin shop, and Fortune Dust shop. Token Shop uses Tokens to exchange goods and resets everyday at server reset (0:00 UTC). Coin Shop uses Coins to exchange for goods and resets every 8 hours (6 AM, 2 PM, and 10 PM UTC). Both shops can have their stock reset with God Crystals but it is heavily not recommended. Lastly, the Fortune Dust Shop uses Fortune Dust consists of some rare materials, like Ring of Fate and Divine Paper Doll, and resets every month.

Daily Stages: Stages that which have a good drop rate on materials. These stages open based on the day of the week with Sunday opening all of the stages. These stages can normally be done 3 times.

Extra Stages: A set of Stages in either Events or Story which have a good drop rate on Gold materials. These Stages can only be cleared 3 times a day.

Shrine: A facility that restores a set amount of Spirit Points over time, which can be claimed at any time. Can be upgraded with Coins to provide a greater storage capacity and restoration over time.

Offering Box: A facility that restores a set amount of Coins over time, which can be claimed at any time. Can be upgraded with Coins to provide a greater storage capacity and restoration over time.

School: A resourceful area which allows you to store a maximum of 5 of your Friends in it. Here, they can gain EXP passively as well as doubling their natural morale restoration.

Dojo: Another resourceful area which allows you to train the Skills of a maximum of 3 Friends at a time, massively increasing their effectiveness.

Character Terminologies

Enhancement: Enhancements, by using up Wood, it increases the stats of a Friend further.

Superior Enhancement: This feature is an extension of the Enhancement tab which uses up Superior Wood acquired from Arena, first 3* clear Elemental EX, and campaigns.

Rank: By using up materials on the upgrade tab, it can be used to unlock passive and skills of a Friend.

Limit Break: By using duplicates or Paper Dolls, you can unlock more spell cards on your characters. Once they are limit broken 3 times (also known as Max Limit Break or MLB for short), they will have access on their Last Word. As duplicates and Paper Dolls can be limited in number, it’s recommended to prioritize one character at a time. Keep in mind that Ultra Festival Friends use a different type of doll called Divine Paper Dolls.

Awakens: Awakening can increase a character’s stats, spell card effects, and spell card power at the cost of increasing their SP cost. As such, it is recommended you awaken on a case by case basis.

Morale: This is the amount of runs that you can do before a character gets exhausted. If they have Great morale (as indicated by 2 sparks), then they will get 20% more EXP. If their morale is Exhausted (as indicated by 2 sweat drops), then their EXP gain is cut in half and lose friendship levels if you persist on using them.

Fantasy Rebirth: By maxing out a Friend’s Level, Skills, Rank, and Awaken, you can “reset” them to Level 1, but their overall stat gain will increase considerably when leveled back up to 100 compared to pre-Fantasy Rebirth. The Friend’s SP cost per battle increases from 12 to 14.

‘Tis the Season for Bullets Best Stages to Farm

Introduction

Hi Friends! You know, Santa’s pretty busy, and he doesn’t really have time to pass out gifts to every good girl or..still girl. That’s fine though, we don’t need to rely on Santa, this is Gensokyo! So get out there and throw bullets at everyone and everything you come across, snatch their points, and trade them in for fabulous presents!

Look, it’s fine, you’re still a good girl, the system simply failed you and didn’t provide you enough Dragon Scrolls.

Make sure you’re farming these stages on the highest difficulty you can clear with as few units as possible in a single turn, on Full Auto if possible. Ideally, you’ll be farming them with 1 unit in 1 turn, so if it’d take you 2 units to farm Lunatic, or multiple turns, it’d be better to farm with 1 unit on Hard, and so on. The goal is to minimize time and Spirit P spent, but it’s perfectly okay to bring other units along to level them up, just try to keep it to only one or maybe two so you don’t run out of Spirit P too quickly.

Patron Saint of Learning (Solo)

Before returning back to the Lunar Capital, Yorihime takes part of a battle of bullets to test your holiday cheer. Fortunately, both her and her moon rabbit pet are weak to the exact same elements: Metal and Star. Any All-targeting attack with either element should farm this stage relatively well. Reisen tries to stop you with her skill, but ironically she only makes All-targeting attacks even stronger (as long as her HP is over 50%, in which she will begin to provide All-targeting resistance).

Dark Companion & Divine Attendant 2 (All)

Drops: Attack & Defense Books, Plum & Orchid Tiles, Wind & Dragon Scrolls

Toyohime and Sagume need to get comfortable in their new clothes, making for the perfect excuse for another 1-wave stage. While having a little more health than her younger sister’s fight, both of the opponents still share a common weakness of Star. Just unleash a barrage of a strong Star bullets, and you will be able to get the Lunarians comfortable in their new outfits! Oh, and have a good All-target stage to farm.

Princess & Phoenix 1 (Solo)

Drops: Attack & Support Books, Chrysanthemum & Bamboo Tiles, Cloud & Tiger Scrolls

The return to Solo-target 1-waves features a determined Mokou, determined to heat up your party in the shivering cold. Although a set of Burn barriers may sound appealing to stay warm, they will decrease the defense of your Friends and be broken by Mokou’s Incineration bullets! Of course, there is nothing to worry about as long as you can shoot her down with a strong Last Word that targets her weaknesses. She will be on the defensive for any Yang attacks due to increasing her own Yang DEF, so any Yang-focused attackers are less ideal for this stage.

Mokou’s own outfit seems to be as light as Kaguya’s pajamas. is she really fine in those? And would huddling with her really make you feel warm?

Human Village & History 1 (Solo)

Drops: Defense & Support Books, Plum & Bamboo Tiles, Heaven & Wind Scrolls

Kosuzu decides to fight you alone without any special assistance or tricks up her sleeves. Compared to the first few stages, she does have quite a bit more health than Eirin, but the same strategy of going for weaknesses still applies.

. did her wish have to be for more regulars at Suzunaan though? I would assume more aggressive advertising would do the trick, and then she could have gotten a more petty wish.

Human Village & History 2 (All)

Drops: Attack & Defense Books, Orchid & Chrysanthemum Tiles, Earth & Cloud Scrolls

Now it’s time to judge the behavior of some more mischievous fairies. are we sure they should be called good girls? Well, their performance in the battle of bullets clearly matters more than their actual behaviors. Unlike the previous All-target stages, having 3 opponents means that each of them will have a lot less health, making for a somewhat easier farming experience. While Rumia and the fairies do not share a common weakness, their HP should be low enough to be taken down by a strong All-target attacker.

Human Village & History 3 (Solo)

Drops: Attack & Support Books, Plum & Chrysanthemum Tiles, Dragon & Phoenix Scrolls

Once again the HP values for the Solo-target stages are scaling up to be higher and higher. Keine will also use her teacher wisdom to raise her own Yin DEF, making her a bit more difficult to take down. Focus on her Moon and Wood weaknesses to defeat her before getting trapped in her own lectures.

Snow-Clad Mountain 1 (All)

Drops: Defense & Support Books, Orchid & Bamboo Tiles, Tiger & Serpent Scrolls

The two shikigamis fortunately do not counteract all of their elemental weaknesses, so any Friend strong enough to nuke them should be fine for this stage. What I’m curious about is since when did Chen get more HP than her master.

Snow-Clad Mountain 2 (All)

Drops: Attack & Defense Books, Plum & Orchid Tiles, Heaven & Serpent Scrolls

As a one wave involving three opponents at once, each of them have much less health compared to the stages with only two opponents. Therefore, it may be more efficient for slightly weaker All-target nuke Friends to farm on this stage, especially since none of the enemies will utilize any tricky skills. Additionally, it helps when the tengu and Yamanba are more focused on territorial disputes than actually fighting.

Snow-Clad Mountain 3 (No)

Drops: Attack & Support Books, Chrysanthemum & Bamboo Tiles, Earth & Phoenix Scrolls

This family is way too overprotective to be farmed by your friends. Kanako raises every opponent’s All resistance to make All-target Last Words impractical to use, and Sanae rubs salt on the wound by supporting her gods with HP or barrier restoration if everyone was not taken care of in one turn. Just let them enjoy their new presents and leave them be.

Lakeside Lark 1 (All)

Drops: Defense & Support Books, Plum & Bamboo Tiles, Wind & Tiger Scrolls

For a band of mischievous fairies, there are surprisingly no nasty tricks up their sleeves to make farming this stage inefficient. Maybe they have been pretty good this year to deserve presents!

Lakeside Lark 2 (Solo)

Drops: Attack & Defense Books, Orchid & Chrysanthemum Tiles, Cloud & Dragon Scrolls

Koakuma comes with a return to Solo one wave stages with a rather high amount of HP. If the stage rewards are worth it for you and you have an efficient method of taking advantage of her Sun and Fire weaknesses, this stage is fine for farming. If not, an earlier story with less HP is likely the better option.

Lakeside Lark 3 (No)

Drops: Attack & Support Books, Plum & Chrysanthemum Tiles, Cloud & Serpent Scrolls

Once again the fun of All-target Last Words are ruined by Sakuya’s All resistance skill. To make matters worse, Meiling will attempt to paralyze your Friends on a stage that is not even worth farming on. No thanks.

Forest Mission 1 (All)

Drops: Defense & Support Books, Orchid & Bamboo Tiles, Heaven & Dragon Scrolls

A group of magicians want to hold onto their tiles and scrolls, but a good All-target nuke should be enough to take their presents. Just be aware of Patchouli’s plentiful elemental resistances- anyone strong enough should be able to bypass them at the very least.

Forest Mission 3 (No)

Drops: Attack & Support Books, Chrysanthemum & Bamboo Tiles, Wind & Phoenix Scrolls

Not only does Hina have the highest amount of HP of any Solo one wave boss so far, but she will increase her own defenses to make your attacks even weaker. On top of that, she has one extra barrier on her even if you were considering to go for a full break. does she need an extra one to deal with misfortune?

One Who Tolerates All 1 (Solo)

Drops: Defense & Support Books, Plum & Bamboo Tiles, Wind & Cloud Scrolls

An additional high-HP Solo one wave stage. Nothing really special to point out for this one.

One Who Tolerates All 2 (Solo)

Drops: Attack & Defense Books, Orchid & Chrysanthemum Tiles, Dragon & Tiger Scrolls

Byakuren calls for a rematch from the last stage, only bringing a slight HP increase while keeping the same elemental affinities and (lack of) skills. She is offering a gift of dragon scrolls this time around at least, which can be worth the investment if you have a cheap way to take her down.

The Other One 1 (Solo)

Drops: Attack & Support Books, Plum & Chrysanthemum Tiles, Phoenix & Serpent Scrolls

In a strong effort to fulfill her wish of amassing many offerings, Reimu battles hard with much desperation. Just as the many other late Solo one waves, her HP is much higher than the beginning, so farming this stage is likely not as efficient as the earlier ones.

The Other One 2 (No)

Drops: Defense & Support Books, Orchid & Bamboo Tiles, Heaven & Earth Scrolls

This stage almost tricks you into disguising itself as a good farming spot since the two enemies share an Earth weakness with less HP than the previous Solo stages. But then Yoshika raises the opponents’ All resistance and low-cost farming is made impractical.

If you’re a seasoned gacha gamer, rerolling should be nothing new for you. But for the benefit of those who just picked up gacha games, rerolling basically means starting a new account, and re-using available resources at the start of your game to get your desired results.

The good news is that Touhou Lost Word is known for making the reroll process easier than most gacha games since all units have the same rates and don’t really have a rarity aspect – you get equal chances to summon all the characters that are available in the pool!

Youmou Konpaku!

Most (if not all!) Touhou Lost Word gamers will tell you that Youmou Konpaku is the most viable unit that you can get from the Tutorial Roll. Youmou’s attacks hit better than most of the units, and she has access to a strong AoE Last Word which is a valuable trait in the game.

Getting Youmou ensures that you are off to a good start, so if you’re willing to spend a few minutes rerolling, you should definitely aim for Youmou.

The Nameless Adventurers card (5* Story Card from the end of Main Story Interlude: Human Village Act 1 chapter) has the pre-attack effect of 50% Normal Bullet UP and Party 2 YANG ATK UP at Max Limit Break.

This story card is mainly sought for its party wide effect of 2 YANG ATK UP for 2 turns. This allows YANG oriented setups to have easier damage setup and serves as an extender for their currently existing YANG ATK UP buffs. As of the moment, the 50% Normal Bullet UP effect is quite a secondary factor to consider as there are not much characters with Normal Bullets. For the stats it provides, this card gives the same stats as the event card Photogenic Girls (+85 YANG ATK, +65 YANG DEF).

Story Card Guide

Equipment being in the form of a card? It can’t be as crazy as the current incident, anyways! Story Cards, named after their image depicting a scene from a story, function as players’ equipment in Touhou LostWord, but instead of equipping them directly onto Friends, they go onto their spell cards! In a way, this also means that more Limit Breaks means more equipment slots, due to the way you unlock more spells for each Limit Break.

Story Cards have many practical applications, come in many different varieties, and are frankly at times the most important aspect to any team composition, so this guide will go over each part of a story card and how to best utilize them, with some advice on which story cards are the best to prioritize.

Where to Find Story Cards

Story cards are the secondary result of praying for Friends, in which instead of another Friend you get a piece of paper. Hey, it can still have great use though! It is also important to know where else you can find story cards, as many that are more useful are found differently compared to prayers. On Gamepress, you can search for different story cards to read more about their stats (as well as the stories, if you’re interested!). One essential detail can be found on the art itself, which highlights how to obtain the card.

There are three primary ways to obtain story cards:

There are also a few limited Story Cards that currently have no «Obtain Method» listed. This is either due to them being very rare and not part of the General Prayer Pool or them being from limited login events. They may appear once in a while again, but otherwise you should focus on these three types.

Very often you will see Stage Drop cards valued higher than any other type: not only are they farmable at any possible time and not limited to needing to Pray or have an Event running, but some Stage Drops are just much more powerful…especially a certain scarlet witch that will be addressed later. Event drops from Elemental EX stages are in a similar spot of advantage due to being part of a semi-consistent rotation, as well as being great in their own right.

Story cards do technically have their own classifications, seen from the icons on the story card. The only purpose these have is to determine the tiles and medicines required to upgrade and enhance the cards, so they do not heavily impact a card’s actual use.

Story Card Abilities and Effects

The primary way you will use story cards will be their abilities, or “effects,” which most of the community calls them by, as this guide will do as well. The Effect of a story card refers to any sort of buff or immediate change that occurs upon activating the card. This can range from buffing a Friends’ offensive stats, increasing their resistance to a certain bullet type, and even more that will be highlighted below. These effects are the keys to getting much more out of already well-off Friends, and will often be the method of consistent farming comps or winning tough battles. Just remember that these are active effects, meaning you must use the spell card the story card is attached to in order to start off the effects. I know that’s a lot of “cards,” but I’m sure you can manage.

Every story card has a base effect that can be maxed out after max limit breaking, or MLBing, the card with 4 extra copies of the card. While the base effect can be decent, the maxed one increases their buffs to the point where you usually would rather run the card at MLB. Exceptions certainly exist, but for the sake of this list and explanation, the cards discussed will be assumed to be at MLB.

Spirit Power Restoration
“When Spell Card is used, Spirit Power X UP.”

By far the arguably best effect on a story card is restoring or increasing the Friends’ Spirit Power. The effect does exactly as it says on the card, once you use the spell card, Spirit Power gets immediately transferred to your Friends’ stock. Spirit Power is the key to accessing more powerful attacks, activating more elemental breaks, and even getting special effects such as anomaly breaks, making these types of cards very versatile and the best when equipped on normal spells rather than Last Words. After all, what’s the point of more Spirit Power when you’ve already used up all of your firepower?

The Witch of Scarlet Dreams, the farmable Chapter 2 story card, might be one you have heard before. It is for good reason. It’s a story card that can be easily farmed by many Friends with the timeless effect to provide 2.00 Spirit Power upon spell card use. Due to its ease of collection, it is almost the best story card in the game, and one that is just to easy to serve as a spell card slot filler for almost every Friend.

Want a contender for the actual best story card in the game though? Myouren Temple Anniversary. On top of its other special effect of debuffing a foes’ defense, which will be explained later, it provides 0.75 Spirit Power to the entire party, not just the Friend who used the spell. With its high stat sticks (again, something covered later) and insane versatility, there is a good reason why this is currently locked behind the Star EX Battle Stage.

Need some more budget options or just starting off the game? It’s Spring! and Midnight Tea got you covered! 1.50 Spirit Power to self might seem a lot less overwhelming compared to the above options, but thanks to being only a 4* story card from Prayers, it can be somewhat easier to find from Story Card Rituals and normal prayers, something great for versatile cards to have.

Bullet and Elemental Buffs
“When Spell Card is used, (bullet/element) power X% UP.”

Another effect that shys away from Spirit Power Collection’s insanity but is good on its own right is something found in a majority of cards. If a card mentions increasing an element such as Fire’s power or states something like Slash Bullet’s power UP, then it falls in this category.

These cards heavily depend on Friend knowledge: what elements are the spell card they are using composed of? If the attack is entirely Metal, then a Metal power booster is the obvious choice for easy damage! The same applies to “X Bullets,” but these require slightly more knowledge in checking what type of bullets an attack is composed of, as instead of showing up clearly like elemental colors, some attacks may be made up of two different bullet types.

As there are so many different kinds of these cards, it can be pretty hard to specify which one is the “best,” especially since every Friend will require something different. The easiest ones to point to are 50% buffs, seen in cards such as Mysterious Sword Master for Slash Bullets and Puppet and Necromancer, which boosts both Light Bullets and No-Element attacks. And guess what? Both of these cards are farmable, with the sword master in Chapter 3 Act 1 and the necromancer at Chapter 3 Act 3! One current example of a 50% buff from a Prayer card is Bonds of Blood, providing a great boost for Fire-users.

And one last thing, which technically applied to the Spirit Power Restoration section but is more relevant here: effects last for a certain amount of turns, depending on the effect. Any bullet buff lasts for only one turn, meaning it can only be taken advantage of by the currently used spell card. The future effects mentioned will mostly last multiple turns, based on the card’s effect description.

Offensive and Defensive Buffs
“When Spell Card is used, own/party’s (stat) X levels UP. (Y turns)”

Sometimes equally important to bullet buffs are buffs for a Friend’s stats, mainly for Yin ATK and Yang ATK. Defensive and Agility buffs can be alright as well, but it is heavily situational and based on if the Friend can take advantage of Hard or Slice scaling. Increasing a Friends’ offense is an obvious step toward more damage, but these story cards are especially important for increasing stats that a Friend may lack in buffs for already. When used properly, these story cards can give more damage from buffing than if you just slapped on a bullet buff!

Otherwise, 3 levels of an offensive stat UP is what you mainly want to run in this category. On the Yin ATK side of things is A Curious Festival, and for Yang ATK you have How Irrational… as well as Members of the Yakumo Family. What’s also important about these cards are that they last for multiple turns, meaning they can be used on a normal spell card with their buffs being transferred to a Last Word. This is something that a card such as New Year’s Shrine Visit I lacks, as it only lasts for a single turn.

Is your Friend well-versed in critical hits, or just needs a little more CRIT Accuracy to increase their damage? I’m the STRONGEST has you covered for CRIT ATK and The Surface Is So Fun! can serve well for both! Critical hits are crucial for some setups for squeezing out an extra bit of damage for consistent wins. That’s why the 3* story card, Miracle Mallet, is rather insane with its 3 levels of CRIT ATK UP for 2 turns. Being 3* makes it common to get in Prayers, but with how versatile CRIT ATK can be, this is something you want multiple copies of for sure.

Last but not least are Accuracy support cards. These are mainly only needed if the Friend has no type of Accuracy UP in their own kit, which is still somewhat common. Just like Mallet, Valued Tools of the Trade is ridiculously good as a 3* Prayer story card thanks to its 3 levels of Accuracy UP over 2 turns. Some other good 5* options exist, such as Poltergeist Sisters’ Concert. Best of all might just be a seasonal event card by the name of Shichi-Go-San School Visit?! due to having 2 levels of Accuracy UP for a great 3 turns!

Stat Debuffs
“When Spell Card is used, [all] target’s (stat) X levels DOWN. (Y turns)”

Another way to increase your own damage is to decrease the foes’ defenses, something that debuff story cards are able to do for any Friend. In these circumstances, you really only want cards that debuff Yin DEF, Yang DEF, CRIT DEF, or Evasion. All of these will contribute toward getting more damage out of all of your attacks. The benefits of debuffs is that any Friend can take advantage of hitting a debuffed foe as long as the effects still linger, effectively making these buffs for the party.

Unfortunately, the debuff cards that are worth running are only Solo-target, meaning they only shine in stages where you need to eliminate a single enemy. Still, it does not mean cards such as Anniversary At The SDM have no use, especially when they cripplie a foe’s Yin DEF by 3 levels for 2 turns to help out any Yin-based attacker. Moriya Anniversary does the same but for CRIT DEF, making it great for if your Friends are hitting with Killer bullets that ensure critical hits! You may notice a trend of more recent or limited cards being debuff-focused, which supports their more limited accessibility.

Spirit Power Collection
“Spell Card’s Spirit Power collection rate X% UP.”

Don’t confuse this effect with Spirit Power Restoration, as this one is sadly a lot more limited in practicality. It’s self-explanatory, the amount of Spirit Power the spell card collects from attacking foes increases. Especially on All-target spell cards, some Friends may end up obtaining a good amount of Spirit Power, but the existence of many insane Spirit Power UP cards just somewhat invalidates the necessity of running these.

The main story card of this effect that is worth keeping is Rabbit of Good Fortune, as it is a 4* Prayer story card that is decently easy to rack up. Even then, this card is likely more useful for its secondary effect, which will be discussed below.

HP or Barrier Restore
“When Spell Card is used, recovers X% of own HP.”
“When Spell Card is used, adds 1 layer to Barrier.”

Useless Effects: Focus and Resistances
“When Spell Card is used, Focus X levels UP/DOWN. (Y turns)”
“When Spell Card is used, DMG from (race/element/bullet) X% DOWN. (Y turns)”

Just like the above section, these two effects share a role in being useless 99% of the time. Focus UP is really only good for tanks, and like with HP healing they should be good at keeping Focus high anyway to not need a story card slot wasted. Focus DOWN is even less practical, as it only puts other Friends in potential danger. If you want the reward for least needed effects though, damage resistances are your guy. In a game where all damage can be avoided by Grazing or using Barriers, the need to decrease damage from a very specific source is even more niche than it had to be.

One final note before moving on though: DO NOT throw away story cards just for having less useful effects! Not only can story cards have multiple effects, with one of them being very useful, but stat sticks are equally as important based on what a Friend may need stat-wise. Most useless story cards will boast these effects, but some still may have use in the next section.

Stat Sticks

Stat sticks refers to every story card’s passive effects, which can be found as a story card’s “stats.” Each story card has 2 stats in Yin ATK or Yang ATK, Yin DEF or Yang DEF, HP, or Agility. Every story card mixes and matches these two, so be sure to focus on which each card gives! The most obvious stat to go for may be the offensive ones, but just like with defensive buffs on story cards, defense or Agility stat sticks may have practical use for secondary scaling on Last Words.

And that’s another important part of stats: due to being passive, these stats will impact the Friend as a whole for every attack they do! This makes story card planning a lot more intense, as not only do you have to focus on what each story card provides when activated, but you also must consider what it is passively providing throughout the entire battle.

Just like with effects, stats of a story card can be increased, though instead of Limit Breaks, you enhance story cards using Tiles and Coins or Medicine, which can be gained through seasonal events. Limit Breaking does have a purpose still, as every story card Limit Break allows you to enhance the card one step further, going from +6 at no limit breaks to +10 at MLB. Most of the time, you want to MLB the card to access its best stats, but sometimes, especially for 5* story cards, you can get away with only having the card at +6 and no limit breaks for viable stat sticks.

Now, what makes a stat stick a good stat stick? It really depends on what the Friend needs. In terms of raw values, you really want to look for stats of at least +90 on a story card (outside of HP, of course), as these will give the most practical buffs for hard battles. For HP, you can imagine the numbers being multiplied by 5, therefore making a good HP stat stick at +450 or more.

Getting Priorities Straight

So, with all of the terminologies out of the way, what really makes for an optimal story card set. You’ll hate the answer, but again, it depends on what Friend you are using and what they need in the immediate moment. Fortunately, I have a simple to understand priority chart for what to go for!

As just mentioned, the priorities will always be different based on what you are going for. Farming compositions are a whole different story, if the strategy you are running is very specific. In a sense, this just shows how crucial story cards are for any type of gameplay and further proof on why you need to keep careful tabs on the ones you have.

When it comes to prioritizing which cards to keep and which ones to throw away, especially if you are running with limited Story Card Inventory space, mainly try to prioritize the meaningful effects from the first 4 sections of the Effects section. Next, check if the story card has any significant stat buffs above 90 or so. If they have neither or the stat sticks themselves are meaningless, it is an easy card to skip over.

You can also try to refer to Gamepress’ Story Card Tier List on what to prioritize or throw away. Something to note about this list is that cards in B-tier can also be seen as “budget” cards that are mainly only good if you do not have the superior option at the moment. Newer players should definitely keep these few cards, especially when the story card that outclasses it is an event card, but otherwise, they can be safer to throw away.

What is Touhou LostWord?

Touhou LostWord is a Touhou JRPG officially licensed by Team Shanghai Alice. As a spin-off from the main series, combat revolves around turn-based skill usage instead of bullet hell gameplay, with visual novel-based storytelling and professional music, artwork, and voice acting from people passionate about the Touhou franchise. Despite the change in genre, the developers are confident in translating the feel of a Touhou game into a mobile JRPG with spell cards, bullets, and an impressive soundtrack.

Downloading Touhou LostWord

Touhou LostWord is available for free on the App store for iOS users and Google Play Store for Android. To download the game, simply visit the link of your respective system.

Touhou LostWord is available in many different countries. However, if it does not show up in your country’s App Store/ Play Store, that means it is not available. In this case, there are still a few options available, such as waiting for Touhou LostWord to become available in your country, or downloading the game through a different country’s App Store/ Play Store.

How Do I Play Touhou LostWord?

While the game does provide a nice tutorial on how to play the game, things might seem overwhelming at first. Here are some common terms in the game before starting:

Glossary

Combat

Combat is most of the active gameplay in Touhou LostWord. It is turn-based, where players select an action for each character/use a skill, then let the turn play out.

Every turn there are a couple of different options to choose from. The player can choose non-active actions:

— Target a specific enemy.

Next, the player can choose a combat action.

Story

Touhou LostWord prides itself on having a strong narrative campaign. Stories can be read by selecting them on the mission screen, or revisiting unlocked stories in the library. Additionally, not all missions have battles tied to them. Playing a mission with battles will cost Spirit Points. This cost is based on how many characters you deploy, and how upgraded they are. You can see how much a character will cost to deploy on their stats screen.

Character Raising

Characters are primarily leveled up through battle, but can also gain levels passively by leaving them at School. In addition to levels, characters can also get stronger by enhancement (requires enhancement items), learn new Spell Cards by Limit Breaking (requires a duplicate character or a rare currency called Paper Doll), and level up Skills by Awakening (requires an enhancement currency called Tokens and certain enhancement items).

Absorb

Any bullet tagged with this will restore a % of the unit’s maximum HP if the bullet hits, no matter how much or little damage the attack does. Also known as Draining.

An ‘attack’ which only performs non-damaging effects.

All

A community term to refer to when an attack or spell gets most of its power and bullet lines at a third boost. You will usually see this as 1-1-3, or «1 line for 1 boost, 1 for 2 boost, and 3 for 3 boost.»

Banner

What Prayers are performed on: all but the general banner (named Prayer ingame) are time limited, and most (but not all) feature a Rate Up unit which is more likely to be drawn, and can be traded for with Exchange Points earned by Prayer.

Barrier

A sort of damage reducing shield. See the Advanced Combat guide for more details on barriers.

Barrier Status

Conditions which are inflicted directly onto a Barrier. See the Advanced Combat guide for more information.

Basic Shot

Refers to a unit’s infinitely reusable attacks, Spread Shot and Focus Shot.

Best in Slot (BiS)

A community term that describes when an equipped story card is the best pick for a specific Friend. Usually referring to their Last Word only.

Blind

A type of Barrier Status which reduces accuracy.

Body

One of the various bullet tags. Does nothing by itself, but can result in damage modification due to Story Cards, resistances, or characteristics. Also known as Physical.

Boost

The act of using Spirit Power to give an attack access to more bullets, aka ‘lines.’

Bullets

The “lines” on an attack, which determine the effects of that attack’s hits, depending on how many levels of Boost are provided. See also, Danmaku.

Bullet Spread

A community term used to describe the «spread» of an attack. Every attack gains more lines when boosted, and the spread is meant to describe how many lines are added based on the attack.

Burn

A Barrier status which does damage at the start of a turn and lowers a unit’s Yin ATK and DEF.

Charge

An effect which makes a unit go last within their given turn bracket. Please see the Advanced Combat guide for more information.

Cooling

A bullet tagged with this has a chance of inflicting 1 Layer of the Barrier Status: Freeze to the target upon hit. Also known as Freezing.

Danmaku

Also known as bullets. Non-lethal attacks with a focus on looking pretty first and foremost, with the damage typically limited just to clothing

Delayed

A bullet tagged with this has a chance to force the target to act after the next 2 units in the turn order on hit. Can also be applied by freezing.

Divine Paper Doll

An item used to uncap Ultra Festival units in place of using a duplicate copy. Regular paper dolls will not work on Ultra Festival units, and Divine Paper Dolls cannot be used on regular units. Also known as a super doll or god doll.

Discharged

A bullet tagged with this will Break any Paralyze barriers on the target. Also known as Discharge. Not to be mistaken with Cirno’s Discharge skill.

DPS

Stands for Damage Per Second. In spite of the fact that this game uses turns, not seconds, this is often used by community members to refer to units who excel at doing damage, or to refer to a unit’s damage output.

A bullet effect that increases the attack’s chance to deal a critical hit based on the opponent’s ATK buff of the respective bullet type (Yin/Yang).

Electrified

Energy

One of the various bullet tags. Does nothing by itself, but can result in damage modification due to Story Cards, resistances, or characteristics.

Exchange Points

Points used to trade in for a Rate Up unit on a banner.

Explosive

A bullet effect that increases the attack’s chance to deal a critical hit based on the opponent’s DEF buff of the respective bullet type (Yin/Yang).

Extra Attack

A special debuff applied by enemies at the start of a turn to all frontline allied units. This effect prohibits the use of one or more types of actions, depending on the Extra Attack.

Extra Stage

A special sort of Main story stage mode that can only be challenged three times per day.

Fes

Festival

A classification for limited units which only show up on specifically marked banners, and cannot be obtained outside of them. Regular Paper Dolls work just fine for them. Often shortened to Fes.

Flash

A bullet tagged with this will Break any Blind Barriers on the target.

Fluid

Firebomb

A bullet tagged with this has a chance of inflicting 1 Layer of the Barrier Status: Burn to the target upon hit. Also known as Incendiary.

Focus

Freezing

Friend

The playable units obtained by the gacha. Also called Units and/or Characters.

Friendship

An ingame reflection of a unit’s affection towards you, which can improve their stats. See the Advanced Combat Guide for details.

Frontloaded (3-1-1)

A community term to refer to when an attack or spell gets most of its power and bullet lines at a first boost. You will usually see this as 3-1-1, or «3 lines for 1 boost, 1 for 2 boost, and 1 for 3 boost.»

Gacha

The game’s primary form of obtaining Friends and Story Cards. In exchange for either Seal Crystals and Coins or God Crystals, you are given random Friends and Story Cards, as based on the rates displayed. Using the Gacha is referred to as “Prayer.”

The game’s premium currency, used for a variety of things between skins, Prayer, slot expansion, and more.

Graze

The act of using a Barrier. In Touhou, this refers to just barely avoiding getting hit by an attack.

Hard

Any bullet tagged with this will scale with both a unit’s DEF stat as well as their ATK stat (Yang-type attacks scale with Yang DEF, Yin with Yin DEF). The exact % of DEF that the attack scales with varies based on a hidden value, but is typically between 30% and 90%. If a character isn’t noted for having exceptional Hard scaling, assume the scaling is on the lower end of the scale.

Heavy

One of the various bullet tags. Does nothing by itself, but can result in damage modification due to Story Cards, resistances, or characteristics. Also known as Mass.

Incendiary

Incineration

A bullet tagged with this will break all of a target’s Barriers with Burn applied to them on hit.

Killer

Any attack tagged with this will always result in a Critical Hit against any enemy with the appropriate designation. Also known as Anti-.

LW

Last Word

The most powerful Spell Card a unit possesses, usually much flashier than their others. A unit must be at Max Limit Break status to unlock this attack.

Laser

One of the various bullet tags. Does nothing by itself, but can result in damage modification due to Story Cards, resistances, or characteristics.

Levels

The way the game refers to an increment of any buff or debuff. Not to be mistaken with character level or player level. Also known as Stages.

Light

One of the various bullet tags. Does nothing by itself, but can result in damage modification due to Story Cards, resistances, or characteristics. Also known as Ray.

Limit Break

The act of using duplicate copies of a unit to upgrade them. A unit must be at Max Limit Break, which is the limit and requires being uncapped 3 times in total, to unlock their Last Word.

Line

Liquid

One of the various bullet tags. Does nothing by itself, but can result in damage modification due to Story Cards, resistances, or characteristics. Also known as Fluid.

Mass

Single Target

Slash

One of the various bullet tags. Does nothing by itself, but can result in damage modification due to Story Cards, resistances, or characteristics.

Slicing

Any bullet tagged with this will factor in a % of the unit’s Agility stat in addition to the appropriate Attack stat. The exact value varies based on an invisible value that is different for every attack. The exact % of Agility that the attack scales with varies based on a hidden value, but is typically between 30% and 90%. If a character isn’t noted for having exceptional Slicing scaling, assume the scaling is on the lower end of the scale.

Smokescreen

A bullet tagged with this has a chance of inflicting 1 Layer of the Barrier Status: Blind to the target upon hit.

Solo

An attack which only targets one enemy. Also called Single Target, or ST.

Spark

The act of Praying enough times on a banner to earn enough Exchange Points to trade in for a copy of the Unit on Rate Up. Sometimes mistaken as Pity.

Specular

An attack that checks the opposite Defense type (Yang ATK will check Yin DEF, and Yin ATK will check Yang DEF, including debuffs and relevant anomalies). Also known as Mirror.

Spell Card

A themed attack that’s focused on giving a show first and foremost.

Spirit P

The ‘fuel/energy/stamina’ you use to embark on stages. The amount of Spirit P a unit costs to deploy depends on their upgrades, and is shown on their status screen. Not to be confused with Spirit Power

Spirit Power

A resource that units use in order to Boost, to unlock the more powerful bullets (or ‘lines’) of their attacks. Every 1.0 Spirit Power can be used for 1 Boost. Often shortened to just Power. Not to be confused with Spirit P.

A Story Card which is equipped to a unit only for the stats it provides, and not the spell card’s Ability.

Story Card

A form of equipment that you attach directly to your Spell Cards, which reflect events which may or may not have happened. They provide both stats for being equipped, and an Ability when the Spell Card they are equipped to is used. Refer to the Story Card guide for more information.

Investing in Friends

Your major goal is going to be to level up an AoE attacker of choice (likely Youmu or Reimu, but Marisa will also suffice) before the first event. Prioritize dumping assets into them, and use your Paper Dolls on them to unlock their Last Word ASAP if it’s AoE (as a reminder, it takes four Paper Dolls (minus any duplicate copies you pull) to unlock a Friend’s Last Word).

A word of warning: Marisa starts off strong, but falls off quickly so avoid over-investing into her (don’t give her dupe dolls or rare mats) unless you really like Marisa.

Avoid spending tokens until after the first event lands and you have a better idea of who you want to spend resources on. In general, be cautious about spending them, as they are the second most limited resource.

Dupe dolls should also be used sparingly, and should be saved starting out for the most powerful farming units (for most people this means Youmu or Reimu).

Avoid investing into Tank and Healer type units early on, such as Daiyousei, unless you love them a whole lot/run out of other places to invest. It will be some time until they’re useful. Reimu is the sole exception as her Last Word is very useful for farming.

Guide to the Scarlet Devil Tower

Introduction

Have you been craving a challenge? Looking for a place to put your level 100 units to the test? The Scarlet Devil Tower is the place to go! A series of challenge fights that put your roster to the test, the Scarlet Devil Tower takes place in the world of Chapter 2. Already know how the Tower works, and are just looking for info or tips on specific floors? Cut to the bottom of the guide for a floor index by clicking here!

Overview

The Scarlet Devil Tower is a series of individual 1 Wave fights (literally floors of the tower), in which units don’t heal after a fight ends (by game over or retreating), even between floors. What does this mean?

For your own units:

All used Spell Cards will remain used

HP, Spirit P, and Barrier count will remain the same as they were at the end of the fight or upon retreating

Any Barrier Status applied will remain, preserving their turn counts as well

Any skills on cooldown will remain on cooldown with the same number of turns remaining

Buffs and debuffs do not carry over, and are erased.

For enemy units (if you do not clear the floor):

HP, Spell Gauge, and Barrier count will remain the same as they were

Buffs and debuffs do not carry over, and are erased.

Your units aren’t just exhausted forever, of course. Once per day, you can fully heal all of your units back to full health, which will restore their Spell Cards, Barriers, and Skill cooldowns as well. If you require additional heals, you can get a second, third, and fourth for 5, 10, and 15 Seal Crystals.

There are a few more tower-specific things to keep in mind, as follows:

Every 10 floors is a “Boss Floor,” signified by the menacing purple aura around the enemies. These floors are notable for two things: Firstly, the enemies have much higher HP than other floors. Secondly, the floor starts off with an “Extra Attack” before the first turn, which is a nasty debuff on your frontliner units that binds the use of certain actions (such as Boosting or using Focus Shots) for 5 turns. Every floor only uses Extra Attack according to the particular fight’s rules: for the first release of the Scarlet Devil Tower, this simply means that it’ll only be used once per floor, no matter how many times you have to challenge it.

Here’s a tip for Extra Attack: They’re only applied to your frontline units, not your back row. So, you can simply switch immediately at the start of the fight (except when the Extra Attack binds switching), and avoid the penalty altogether! Any Amanojaku would be proud of you.

Additionally, motivation and friendship are unaffected by the Tower, meaning you’re free to have your units get knocked out, they won’t mind.

Lastly, your progress is permanently saved for each iteration of the tower: so if you made it to floor 25 one month, for example, you’d start back off on floor 25 the next month.

Introduction

Lossy awakens in a strange, broken dream world; one that she describes as far more real than any before, as if her physical body was truly transported into the dream. The setting is a broken and distorted version of Gensokyo, even if she isn’t aware of that yet.

But before Lossy can get her bearings, she awakens from the dream, back to the real world. The real world for Lossy being her “research lab”: a huge, open room with bookshelves ceiling high, and a single large desk in the middle.

Shortly after Lossy awakens, two girls wander right into her lab as if by chance, marveling at the place as a perfect hideout in the woods. They exchange pleasantries, and introduce themselves as Renko Usami and Maribel Hearn, University students studying physics. Renko and Maribel decide to tell Lossy their true purpose and why they wandered into her study; they are the sole two members of the Secret Sealing Club, a club which serves to investigate the spiritual and supernatural. After a while, Renko and Maribel go back home as it’s getting dark, and Lossy falls asleep, determined to see them again…

The Hifuu LostWord story isn’t difficult to clear on Normal difficulty, nor does it necessarily require reading the main story first, so you can jump in at any time! Here are some character introductions for the main 6 incident resolvers of B3.

Code: Servant regrets losing her ability to manipulate time; the perfect ability for the perfect maid. Even when powerless, she still holds a desire to protect her new comrades and the Scarlet she was used to long ago. Thankful for her remaining existence, her enhancements take the powers of who she used to know and utilizes it for her own means.

Code: Oracle used to be able to cause miracles and restore the health of others. It was an extraordinary power, one befitting someone that defines themselves as a “living god”. Without it, can she truly live up to the expectations that others used to put on her? Recalling the power of other gods she knew, Oracle seems confident in taking a new step with this miraculous technology.

Advanced Combat Guide

Introduction

LostWord can be a kind of complicated game, but fret not. This guide is here to teach you the ins and outs of the more complicated or esoteric parts of combat! Thank you to smk#4679 for allowing us to read through his combat documentation to verify this information.

Bullets

The community often refers to how many lines an attack gets with boosts via a numbering system of x-x-x, for first, second, and third boost. For example, a 3-1-1 attack would give you access to the first four lines with 1 boost, and then the fifth and sixth lines would cost 2 and 3 boosts respectively. A 1-1-3 attack, by comparison, would give you the first two lines at 1 boost, the third line at 2 boosts, and the remaining three lines at 3 boosts.

Bullet Tags

Every bullet can have one of several ‘tags’ attached to it, which you can check by tapping on the bullet ingame, or checking here on gamepress. These come in three categories: type, special property, and killer.

Special properties affect the bullet in some way, and are covered in more depth in the glossary. These include Hard, Slicing, Sure-Hit, Absorb, Rebound, and more.

Killer, also known as Anti. Any attack line with “Effective against X” simply means that attack will always result in a Critical Hit if the opponent has that designation. So for example, a “Effective against humans” attack line would always crit against, say, Reimu Hakurei.

Damage Calculation

Damage is calculated as follows (with thanks to smk#4679 on discord!):

Hit Damage = (Total Attack × Attacker Level × Shot Power × Shot Buffs× Critical Hit Modifier × Danmaku Level Modifer × Random Multiplier) / (Target Defense × Trait Resistances × Targeting Resistance)

Total Attack is based on the attacking unit’s stats; it is always composed of the unit’s attack and modifiers that apply to the stat, but may include a certain % of defense if Hard is a property, and/or a certain % of speed if Slicing is a property,

Shot Buffs are conditions that buff a shot based on properties such as element and bullet type, usually gained from Story Cards,

Critical Hit Modifier is a multiplier to a hit that applies if it is determined to be a Critical Hit. This may vary depending on the attacker’s Crit Atk and the target’s Crit Def,

Danmaku Level Modifier is a multiplier to a hit which is based off the level of the shot/spellcard. Spell Card level is raised by Awakening a unit, Basic Shot level rises with total Spirit Power

Random Multiplier is a multiplier that applies to every hit and adds a level of randomness to damage, which can be anywhere from 0.336x to 0.4x

Target Defense is based on the target’s stats, composed of the defense stat and modifiers that apply to the stat

Trait Resistances are conditions that decrease the damage of an incoming hit based off its element, bullet type or whether the attacker is of a certain species,

Targeting Resistance is the resistance/vulnerability to Solo/All attacks.

Barriers and Barrier Breaks

For players, every unit has a total of 5 maximum Barriers, but can only use the first 4 for Grazing. Every time a unit Grazes, they will be completely immune to the next enemy attack, regardless of how many hits it consists of. This immunity also carries over to any other effects of the attack. Barriers can only be recovered by attacks, skills, and passives which specifically restore barriers, they do not recover with time.

For enemies, instead they simply have a static number of barriers that they never use. Instead, these barriers exist to apply Barrier Status upon, or to Break. Enemies can also restore barriers via their skills, though this is on an enemy by enemy basis.

Barrier Status (aka barrier anomalies) work the same for both players and enemies. One barrier Status can be applied per existing barrier, and all of them have individual turn durations. They also have various effects, which will be covered in the next section.

So, for example, let’s say I have a unit with a Spell Card that has 4 lines: the first 3 are all tagged with Fire, all have 3 hits, and the first is tagged with “Breaks barriers with Barrier Status: Blind” against a foe with 6 Barriers, 2 of which are inflicted with Blind. First, the game sees my first line Breaks Blind Barriers, and those 2 Barriers are broken. Then, two hits of the first line connect, resulting in 1 fire Break. 0 hits of the next line connect, resulting in 0 Breaks. Lastly, one hit of the third line connects, resulting in 1 more fire Break. In total, I broke 4 Barriers, and the enemy is left with 2.

Barrier Status

There are five different statuses that Barriers can be inflicted with: Burn, Blind, Paralyze, Freeze, and Poison. Their effects are as follows (n is treated as the number of that Status applied to the unit):

Burn: The unit will lose 1.4*n% of their Max HP at turn start, which cannot reduce HP below 1. Their Yin ATK and Yin DEF are also multiplied by 0.875^n

Blind: The unit’s accuracy is multiplied by 0.8^n.

Paralyze: The unit has a (unknown) chance to be stunned at turn start. Their dodge is also multiplied by 0.8^n.

Freeze: The unit has a (unknown) chance to be inflicted with Delay. Their AGI is also multiplied by 0.875^n.

Poison: The unit will lose 1.4*n% of their Max HP at turn start, which cannot reduce HP below 1. Their Yang ATK and Yang DEF are also multiplied by 0.875^n.

All effects are multiplicative with buffs/debuffs. All Barrier Status have separate durations. A unit cannot be applied with Barrier Status if they do not have a Barrier to apply Status onto.

Buffs and Debuffs

All buffs and debuffs are removed from a unit upon the start of a new wave, irregardless of remaining duration.

Attack and Defense buffs both multiply their respective stat by 1.3x per Level above 0, and by (1 / 1 + 0.3n), where n is the number of Levels up, per Level below 0. At 10 Levels of ATK or DEF Up, the stat will be multiplied by 4x. At 10 Levels of ATK or DEF Down, the stat will be multiplied by 0.25x.

As a result of this, buffs have diminishing returns, as the more Levels of ATK Up a unit already has, the less that subsequent Levels will be worth relatively.

As an additional note, ATK Up and DEF Down are extremely powerful when combined as they wind up multiplying one another, due to the fact that the damage formula boils down to Attack being divided by Defense. A mere 2 Levels of ATK Up combined with 2 Levels of DEF Down makes for 2.56x damage (1.6 / (1 / 1.6)), and 10 Levels of ATK Up combined with 10 Levels of DEF Down makes for 16x damage (4.0 / (1 / 4.0))!

Accuracy buffs will be covered in the next section as they are somewhat convoluted.

Accuracy and Evasion

Every hit of an attack checks its accuracy separately, and its base accuracy is determined by the line it belongs to.

Critical Hits

Levels of Crit DMG Up and Crit DMG Down are additive together, like other buffs.

Crit Accuracy and Evasion works exactly like Accuracy and Evasion, only multiplying the base Critical Hit chance instead. However, since most attacks have only a base 5 to 10% chance to Critically Hit, and Crit Accuracy is still subject to the 10 total Levels rule like Accuracy, you won’t find much use in Crit Accuracy for most units.

Every hit checks its Critical Hit chance separately, and the base Critical Hit chance depends on what line the hit belongs to.

Killer attacks are treated as if the Critical Hit chance were 100%, and otherwise behave exactly the same as a normal Critical Hit.

Weakness and Resistance

If an enemy takes a hit that’s tagged with an Element they resist, they take 0.5x damage. If a unit takes a hit that’s tagged with a Element they are weak to, they take 2x damage and lose a Barrier (as described in the Barrier section).

There are also specific conditions which apply a resistance to damage of a certain type, which stack additively, up to 100%, at which point an attack will do no damage.

There are also “All and Solo” Attack Resistance buffs that only enemies get. These effectively lower the damage taken by the named type, but additionally boost the damage taken by the other type. For the lowering component, damage is divided by (1 + 0.3n), where n is the number of Levels. For the raising component, the damage is instead multiplied by (1 + 0.3n), where n is the number of Levels.

Agility and Turn Priority

Delay acts somewhat oddly, in that it simply causes a unit to move as if you were two speed brackets slower. So if a unit was using a Last Word, they will only outspeed other Basic Shots, and if a unit was using a Spell Card or Basic Shot, they’ll be outsped by anyone except other Delayed units.

Focus

As of 12/17, Focus has been reworked to include an additional feature regarding All-target attacks. Damage is redistributed based on the Focus levels of each character with the basis that a character with Focus UP takes more damage from All-target attacks while the rest of the party takes less damage, while a character with Focus DOWN does the opposite: take less damage while passing more damage onto the rest of the party. The values of distribution are likewise unknown, though note that a lower amount of teammates means the damage will be divided up less due to being spread over 1-2 characters instead of 3.

In addition, unlike other buffs or debuffs, Focus UP/DOWN remain on a character once they are in the Full Break state. This can potentially put a Friend with Focus UP in even more danger if they are fully broken, as the increased damage from Focus UP will still apply.

Switch Links and Friendship Bonus

Additionally, every unit has a hidden “Friendship Bonus” when switching with certain units, which are usually based on canon friendships and relationships. These friendship bonuses have a chance to occur based on the unit switching’s friendship level, and increase the effect of the buff.

Morale

Units have a «morale value,» which is measured as follows, based on the icon on their status screen: Overworked (Double Sweat, 0) > Tired (Single Sweat, 1-15) > Energetic (Single Sparkle, 16-60) > Tip-top Shape (Double Sparkle, 61-75).

Morale is capped out at 75 points for units in school, and 60 for those outside of it. Morale is gained at a rate of 1 point per 6 minutes, or 2 points for units in school. It takes a unit in school 3 hours and 48 minutes to hit max morale, and a unit outside of it 6 hours.

Morale is lost at a rate of 1 point per battle, with an additional 5 points lost if a unit is knocked out. Retreating from a fight will nullify any morale loss. Units in Tip-top Shape will gain 1.2x EXP. Units who are Overworked will gain 0.5x EXP. Units will gain friendship at the end of a battle if their morale is Tired or higher, but will lose friendship if they are Overworked.

Make sure never to fight with a unit if they’re Overworked, as Friendship provides powerful stat bonuses!

Friendship

Units have an «friendship value,» which is measured as follows, based on the color of the heart on their status screen: So-so (Purple) > Acquaintance (Blue) > Friend (Green) > Close Friend (Orange) > Best Friend (Pink). Newly acquired units start out at Acquaintance friendship.

Units will gain friendship at the end of a battle if their morale is Tired or higher, but will lose friendship if they are Overworked.

Units can gain friendship by taping on the hearts which appear over them in school. Additionally, the unit you set as your favorite (the one who appears on your homescreen) will gain friendship over time.

School and homescreen friendship will only raise a unit to about roughly halfway through Close Friend. Best Friend status can only be achieved by battle friendship. The best bonds are those forged in the fires of battle!

High friendship gives additional stats to a unit: approximately +3% at Friend, +6% at Close Friend, and +9% at Best Friend to all stats. This can really make the difference!

Whilst Friendship doesn’t take a particularly long time to max out, it is very quickly lost and can be a pain to build back up again, so take care not to send your units out if they have Overworked morale!

Combat Power

Combat Power is a somewhat misleading stat that, due to using separate calculations from damage calculation, will never fully accurately tell you how much damage a unit will do. It’s for the best to just ignore it.

Stage Analysis

Water EX Battle Stage consists of a 1 wave battle with B3 Youmu Konpaku, L1 Marisa Kirisame, and L1 Alice Margatroid. The battle starts with the enemies re-introducing the Focus mechanic of the game, which received a rework in the past year. In a nutshell, this mechanic was reworked in a way where it affects All targeting attacks by increasing (if Focus UP) or decreasing (if Focus DOWN) the amount of damage taken by the unit/s.

B3 Youmu’s main threat here is her usage of Skill Seal which lasts for 6 turns the moment the battle starts, not to mention the self inflicted 10 Focus UP. While sure, the Focus UP will help ease the pain of bringing her down, it is a double edged sword when it comes to All targeting damage because most of the damage spread will come from her. Add that with Marisa and Alice’s self inflicted 10 Focus DOWN at the start of the battle and you will definitely have a hard time dealing with all of them at once. Yang-based units will have some trouble well due to Alice’s 3 levels of YANG DEF UP for all allies which lasts for 10 turns plus Gardener’s constant 3.00P attacks which ensures that her party always have 3 levels of YANG DEF UP unless she is Full Broken or Stunned.

But fret not, since all of the enemies inflict anomalies to themselves, you can use this as an advantage for yourself in order to break their barriers easily.

What does the stage drop?

After you clear the battle stage, you will be rewarded with 400 Player EXP, and 1300 Friend EXP plus a chance to drop Moriya Anniversary, All Gold Materials, and All Silver Materials.

Although keep in mind the first time you clear it you’ll get a Moriya Anniversary as a task reward.

Forever Prayer Lite in March!

Hi Friends! The Forever Prayer is returning from half-anniversary for a brief, Lite Version run throughout the month of March! This event looks rather overwhelming for a newcomer, but it should be simpler after looking over the basics. Every day of the Prayer, you are able to pull once for a Guaranteed Friend, which will be any Friend from the game’s release to the end of November (note that this does not include Reimu Hakurei Scarlet, who was released before Mamizou Futatsuiwa, Rin Kaenbyou, and Yuugi Hoshiguma). Only General and Festival Friends are available, meaning no Ultra Festival Friends such as Marisa Kirisame (Witch of Scarlet Dreams).

Please note that you will only be able to accept one Friend from this Prayer. After confirming that you accept them, you will not be able to get any more pulls or Friends. Each day you can Pray once, and if you did not select to keep the previously pulled Friend, they will be replaced in a queue with the newly pulled Friend. You can choose to accept the queued Friend whenever you want, and if the Prayer ends and you did not accept anyone, the queued Friend will be accepted.

Forever Prayer will reset at the same time as Daily Reset (0:00 UTC) and will last from March 1st until the end of March 24th at 23:59 UTC, meaning the final daily pull will be on March 24th. Deciding who to choose from this range of 61 Friends can be rather overwhelming, so the guide below will break down what to focus on.

Strategy (Calculating Risk)

For nerds, the math is (1-(1-x/y)^z), where X is the number of characters you’d like, Y is the total number of characters released (61 in this case), and Z is the # of days remaining in the promotion (24, as it runs from March 1st to March 24th).

Due to the diminishing returns, there’s not much benefit in aiming for more than four or five targets. As such, pick a # of Friends you’d really like, depending on how much risk you’re willing to take of not getting any of them and having to go with whatever the last day gives you. These chances are lower than the last Forever Prayer due to having a few more Friends included, so I’m going to be a bit safer and go for 5 Festival Friends included.

Who to Choose

Through that lens, here’s some recommendations for great pick-ups!

I’m going for the five Festivals I’ve missed: Satori and Koishi Komeiji, Kanako Yasaka, Suwako Moriya, and Iku Nagae.

Why Should You Farm This Card?

The Witch of Scarlet Dreams (5* story card from the end of Main Story Chapter 2 on Lunatic) is arguably the best story card in the game. Its post-attack effect, giving 2.00P UP to the user at Max Limit Break, is incredibly powerful and useful on just about everyone in the game, as unlike other stats, everyone uses Spirit P. A handful of other cards give Spirit P UP, like Midnight Tea and Dancer in the Puddle, but none of them are 2.00P UP like the Witch of Scarlet Dreams, and the ability to obtain as many copies as you want without gacha solidifies this card as the supreme Spirit P generator. Since it allows your units to reach 3.00P after 1 turn (as everyone starts with 1.00P on turn 1), it can allow easy and quick access to fully powered Spell Cards and Last Words. Lastly, the YANG ATK and AGI stats it provides is beneficial for YANG based units that have Slicing scaling (increases bullet damage by a percentage of the character’s agility).

About Fortune Dust and Fantasy Rebirth

Hi friends! Curious about Fortune Dust, or Fantasy Rebirth? This guide’s got you covered!

About Fortune Dust

You know how those God Crystals tend to break apart dramatically when you use them for Prayer? Well, it seems that them breaking apart leaves behind some really sparkly, pretty dust that the main character’s going to start actually picking up come the next update! Why’s that? Because you can turn in this pretty dust (known as Fortune Dust) for some pretty rad prizes over at Sanae’s shop!

Now getting a whole pile of Fortune Dust is all well and good, but you may be wondering what you can do with it. Outside of being pretty in your inventory (and probably making the main character sneeze, lugging so much Dust around), you can trade it in at Sanae’s office shop for some prizes! The most notable prizes by far are the Ring of Fate, and the Divine Paper Doll. You can also trade it in for Tokens and gold materials, but given the rarity of the dust I highly suggest saving it up for a Ring of Fate or a Divine Paper Doll.

Below, you can find a list of all the items in the shop, and their prices. Every item is purchased 1 at a time. The shop resets monthly.

About Fantasy Rebirth

Having powerful Friends is all well and good, but once you’ve fully upgraded them, there’s no other way for them to get stronger. or is there? Fantasy Rebirth is here for you to break that expectation!

Before I explain the benefits, it’s important to stress that there are some requirements before you can perform a Fantasy Rebirth. Firstly, your Friend must meet all of the following requirements:

In other words, they have to be completely maxed out. After they meet the prerequisites, you must then accumulate 1000 Mirrors of Rebirth for them. You acquire these mirrors from exploring special stages that you can challenge 3 times a day each. Each of these stages drops Mirrors of Rebirth exclusive to a single Friend, and in order to challenge them that Friend must meet the requirements to Fantasy Rebirth. Additionally, for these stages you are only allowed to field 3 Friends, and one of them must be the Friend that the stage drops mirrors for that meets the requirements. Lastly, these stages have 3 difficulties, rewarding up to 20 Mirrors on Lunatic (or 60 per day in other words, thus meaning it’ll take about 17 days to Fantasy Rebirth a unit).

As this is important, it bears repeating: In order to accumulate the resources to perform a Fantasy Rebirth, a unit must meet all of the pre-requisites. As such, whenever a new Friend’s Fantasy Rebirth is announced, and you want to perform Fantasy Rebirth on them, it would be a good idea to start training them up sooner rather than later, given the time gate behind training skills up to Level 10 along with the time it takes to train them up to level 100.

After you’ve obtained 1000 Mirrors of Rebirth, you can perform a Fantasy Rebirth. Your reward for this is that your Friend is reset to level 1, and their Enhance stats (the bonus stats from incense wood) are reduced to 0. Additionally, the Cost to deploy them goes from 12 to 14 Spirit P. Finally, it will also take twice as much EXP to level them back up to 100. W-wait, I thought they were supposed to get stronger…?!

Lastly, once a Friend has undergone Fantasy Rebirth, regardless of their level you can spend 30,000 coins and a Ring of Fate to unlock a special costume for them! This Ring symbolizes the bond that you and your Friend have made. There’s also a cute little cutscene and a voice line for every character once you unlock their Fantasy Rebirth costume. You do not need a Ring of Fate to perform Fantasy Rebirth, it is only for unlocking the costume.

Do note that Fantasy Rebirth is not available for all Friends, but new ones are constantly being added For a example of a Fantasy Rebirth costume, check out Reimu below!

Spring Festival of Swords Best Stages to Farm

Introduction

Performing in a Spring festival requires mastery in your steps, the dancing itself, and how efficiently you can wipe your dance partner out with bullets. Of course that last one is the main thing LostWord events care about. If you collect enough event points, the egg is meant to hatch apparently. or at least, it will net you a lot of good items for the future. This guide will help you reach that point!

Only Lunatic difficulty is considered here, as it is the difficultly that ensures the most amount of points as well as some Gold materials. One-wave stages are the main stages recommended here since they are the quickest and most efficient stages to repeatedly farm. The only exception to this would be the final event stage, which drops all gold materials and has an increased Story Card drop rate during the second half of the event, but won’t be listed here due to being a three-wave. For more information on that stage, you can check the Event Tables below in the future.

Some additional notes for farming: The goal is to minimize the amount of Spirit Points you are spending to farm. This can range from using less Friends, using Friends with no Awakenings, etc. Less Spirit Points spent means more stage grinding and even more Spirit Point gain when collected from the Event! However, one exception to this is if you want to grind Friend EXP to power up a Friend, which you can do by having that Friend stay in the back while you can farm. That way, you can kill two birds with one stone!

Grab the Egg and Fly! (Solo)

Drops: Attack and Defense Books, Plum and Orchid Tiles, Heaven and Serpent Scrolls

Marisa’s doing what she always does best and is trying to steal the egg! And. everyone seems to be rather nonchalant about this? Well, it doesn’t matter as long as we can consistently farm her for points! Unfortunately, since this is a later event with a Solo-enemy one-wave, Marisa’s HP is rather high. Perhaps take advantage of some offensive buffs while going for her weaknesses of Fire, Earth, and Star to reliably put this egg thief down.

A rather good one as well, both having the chance for Phoenix Scrolls as well as every enemy having less HP due to there being three enemies at once. Each sister covers their weaknesses quite decently, although their lower HP means most nukers can just destroy them in one turn.

A bunny invasion, Reisen brings along a group of her elite moon rabbit soliders to search for a rabbit’s most important pride: eggs. Unfortuantely for her, she forgot to recruit the right troops, as both she and the Moon Soldier share a weakness to Star (with the No-element Soldier having no weaknesses or resistances). Still, be wary of Reisen’s much larger HP pool compared to that of the previous All-target one-wave, but this is still a rather decent, later stage for farming.

Strange Automatic Machine? (Solo)

It seems like Toyohime had some good peaches before arriving to Gensokyo, because her HP pool this time around is massive, just like any other Solo-target one-wave. At the very least, the inclusion of zero tricky skills on her end means that all you have to do is take advantage of her weaknesses if you want to take her down. Nothing much else to note here, but this farm is definitely possible with the right elemental attackers.

Now, do you think I could get as much HP as Toyohime if I try her egg dishes.

Remilia (E9) EX Stage Info

Introduction

Welcome to the E9 Remilia EX stage! Similar to the previous Elemental EX stages, this limited event is a challenge based content. However, instead of revolving around an elemental weakness, this time it’s a vampire hunt! E9 Remilia Scarlet will be accompanied by her sister, E1 Flandre Scarlet, defending themselves from your team, paralleling a certain scene some may recognize from LostWord Hifuu’s story. Of course, what is a vampire hunt without the Legendary Vampire Hunter herself, E1 Sakuya Izayoi!

In line with this, we have the featured story card for this stage, Cleaning, which is supposed to be tailored for E1 Sakuya’s Last Word. However, do note that this card does not beat the Mysterious Sword Master card for E1 Sakuya’s usage, so you may consider not farming for this card unless you can find other uses for it.

While this event debuted in LostWord JP, the main difference here is the introduction of an Exchange Shop. This means that the stage itself will drop Event Points which you can use to exchange for the ★5 Story Card, Cleaning worth 50,000 points 5 times. Like other EX stages, 30 Spirit Points can be purchased for 100 Event Points 1000 times. This limited event will last until July 15th 1:59 UTC.

What Are Errands?

Errands are a wonderful way to get a ton of resources and experience for free. Fragrant wood, scrolls, tiles, even Seal and God Crystals! Whilst some of them may come with a Spirit Point cost, they’re all well worth that cost. The Spirit P cost is usually rather low in the first place, even for new players.

Errands are unlocked by completing Chapter 1 Act 4 Part 2 (1-4-2). Once unlocked, you can set off on 2 Errands at a time, sending up to 6 Friends per errand. Once you complete Chapter 1 of the Main Story, you can go on up to 3 errands at once! Errands parallel featues of other mobile games in which characters set out to explore and eventually provide you with what they found. However, Friends sent on Errands are not restricted from battling or partaking in facilities such as the School and Dojo, meaning anyone can freely go on an errand! Here are a few other quick notes regarding Errand rules:

To clarify once more, the Seal Crystal errand in progress bellow can only give me up to 1 crystal, even when I have 6 Friends on the errand.

Limited Errands

You can spawn up to 20 “Limited” Errands per day. These Errands are time limited and offer superior rewards. It requires (23.8 + (0.2 * player lv)) Spirit P spent to spawn an Limited Errand, capping out at 43.8 at player level 100. The first Limited Errand of the day requires 2.5x that amount. Only Spirit P spent on battles will count for this. As an additional note, you can «queue» up your Spirit P spent on battles to spawn more errands after the maximum of 4 are spawned in, basically costing less Spirit P to spawn more errands after the current ones despawn.

Up to three Limited Errands will be displayed, with a fourth one being hidden and only appearing/counting down when the other three are removed. Limited Errands will also spawn freely between 10 PM to 2 AM UTC (22:00 UTC the previous day to 2:00 UTC the current day, if you hate AM/PM). These do not count towards your daily limit of the prior 20 Errands, and will be displayed separately from those. These «free» errands will appear at the start of the hour and disappear at the next one, meaning if a current limited errand is unfavorable, you can wait for the next hour to try again.

Limited Errands are a fantastic source of Seal Crystals and God Crystals and should definitely be taken advantage of at all times! Even if you are unfortunate, you can always the limited errands that spawn for free to eventually get a good errand.

Types of Errands

Here is a quick listing of all the significant types of errands, from Normal Errands to Limited ones!

2-Hour Normal Errands

These daily errands are the most generic, providing Books or Tiles with no Spirit P cost. Rarely, «Training at the Myouren Temple» will appear as a 2-hour errand that will provide a fair amount of Spirit P. Singular Seal Crystal errands can appear as well, although they likely should not be prioritized unless there are no other shorter Seal Crystal errands.

1-Hour Normal Errands

These daily errands are about the same as 2-hour ones, still providing Books or Tiles at times and have the chance of appearing with a Seal Crystal reward. At the start of the day, these will not cost any Spirit P but after doing 10 errands they will begin to cost 10 Spirit P. However, they allow for you to complete errands at efficient times to allow for more errand clearing for potentially more Seal Crystal errands!

6-Hour Normal Errands

There is always one 6-hour errand at the top of the daily errands list. Sometimes they offer golden Books and Tiles, and even one or two Seal Crystals, but they take much longer than the ordinary errand and are usually not worth the time-cost. Any time spent on these can be used grinding for better errands instead. They cost 30 Spirit P to execute.

30-Minute Normal Errands

Basically the same as 1-hour errands, but half the time! This is especially good, as they have the chance of appearing with a seal crystal opportunity. These errands do not spawn until 10 normal errands have been completed in a single day, likewise meaning they cost 10 Spirit P to do.

Limited Errands: (1-Hour or 2-Hour)

Limited errands can be 1-hour or 2-hour tasks that reward the player with fragrant woods, up to two God Crystals, or two to three Seal Crystals upon completion. These will be the most important source of Crystals…if you are lucky enough. Any of these errands cost 20 Spirit P to perform.

Errand Tips

Optimal usage of the Errands system will result in a good haul of Crystals daily, especially during events where double or triple the errands rewards are given! Here are a few tips to keep in mind while sending your Friends off:

Evenly split your Friends on errands before you have 18 Friends.

The most ideal amount of Friends for completing errands is 18, as you can send 6 of them to go on each of the three errand slots. If you are a newer player and don’t have this amount of Friends yet, get up to 9 Friends ideally. That way, you can split up 3 Friends to go on errands evenly, with surplus Friends being able to go on the available Seal or God Crystal errands for better results.
Nowadays, it is easy to get up to 12 Friends right when you start a new account, thanks to login bonuses and other sources! While this is the best number for splitting up 6 Friends between 2 errands, you should generally prioritize and take advantage of unlocking your 3rd Errand slot from Chapter 1.

Spawn those Limited Errands!

Remember, these are going to be the easiest source of Seal Crystals. You don’t need to be a math wiz to remember the errand calculation (23.8 + (0.2 * player lv) Spirit P; maxed at 43.8 at player lv 100), just use enough Spirit P to spawn them whenever you are able to. This way, you can get the bad luck fragrant wood errands out of the way and prioritize the better errands or plan ahead if you are truly unlucky.

Complete Normal Errands too!

This may sound strange after the last point, but there is a good reason for this, especially if your limited errand spawns are unlucky. Completing enough normal errands in a day will spawn even more 1-hour and 30-minute errands, all of them having the chance to provide a Seal Crystal. Not only will you be completing these errands faster than 2-hour limited ones, but they will help you profit! Normal errands are the perfect tasks to perform if the limited section is being stingy.

Remember to check Limited Errands at 10 PM to 2 AM UTC.

Self-explanatory. An extra set of three limited errands will appear every hour during this time period, providing even more opportunities to snag the correct errands. Compared to ordinary limited errands, you don’t even need to use Spirit P in battles, so just remember to check in every hour!

How to Use the Background Music (BGM) Feature!

Touhou LostWord has a wide variety of background music created by many different groups and has collaborated with over 100 different musicians! In-game, there is an option to change and enjoy your menu background music. This little guide will explain how to change the BGM as well as how to attain new tracks.

You can access the music room by clicking the eighth note in the player menu. From here, you can select the music you want to listen to. By clicking confirm, you’ll set that track as your new background tune.

How do I get more Tracks?

You can get yourself more tracks via log-in rewards and through the Rare Point Shop. It is important that you spend your rare points on new tracks when they appear during events as they’ll change every event.

Gameplay

Touhou: Lost Word is a mobile game that borrows from the mainline Touhou series but operates on an gacha RPG/Visual Novel hybrid scheme. The core gameplay is marked by a turn-based attack system against NPC enemies that arrive in waves. In between, the story is exposited via Visual Novel-like cutscenes in which the player can interact with the other characters. These interactions do not alter core gameplay in any way. In support of the core gameplay, there are also a number of collection-based, upgrade-based, and chance-based systems that the player must manage in order to progress.

Core Gameplay [ ]

Basic Battle Mechanics [ ]

Battling in Touhou: Lost Word is heavily governed by a number of auxiliary mechanics that support the main damage-dealing ones. In order to progress without heavy grinding, a cursory understanding of each is required, although each stage can also be brute-forced by sufficiently levelled characters if required (in fact, this is the main method of farming stages in the later game).

Battle is strictly turn-based, with a party of up to 6 units (called ‘Friends’) broken up into an attacking front and a rear guard. Up to three in the front guard can attack in the player’s turn, in the process leaving them exposed to attacks in the next turn. Up to three in the rear guard are left inactive. While they are in the rear, party members cannot be attacked. On the player’s turn, each of the front can attack once, using either a Spread Shot, a Focus Shot, or a Spell Card (note that while Spell Cards are exhaustible, the other two are not). The player can also activate Boost to increase their attack power, Graze to shield themself from attacks, or Skills to add status effects into play. These actions do not use up a party member’s attack.

Before a battle begins, players can choose their party and place them in whatever configuration they choose. They can also select from pre-determined parties that they have formulated beforehand. The pre-battle screen also gives information on the different goals of the battle, the rewards that might be earned from it, and the different Essences, Phases, and Status Effects that might be useful.

Up to three attackers can be up against the party at a time, in a group called a ‘wave’. Each wave appears when the prior one was defeated, and will not end until all attackers in the wave are defeated. Attackers will either be throwaway mooks, or bosses. Bosses are signalled by the centre row of the screen turning red, and a warning appearing on it. While mooks can only use their own Focus or Spread Shots on party members, Bosses are also capable of using spell cards. The time until a boss will use their spell card is indicated by a line of divots just below their health bar. Each divot fills up by the end of a turn cycle. When the line is completely full, a spell card will be used on the next turn.

Damage is heavily moderated by Essences and Phases, which together make up a character’s Temperament. Each Essence or Phase is weak to one of its kind and strong against another. These strengths and weaknesses cause both Friends and enemies to either resist attacks they are strong against, reducing damage taken, or be weak against attacks they are weak against, dealing them extra damage or even breaking their Barriers. The strengths and weaknesses of an enemy can be identified by tapping on them and observing the strengths and weaknesses that appear on the left-hand-side of the screen.

To rescind an action while they are still picking which attacks to use, the player can click the back button in the bottom-left corner of the screen to jump back to a previous party member. To have the CPU pick actions for them while using only Spread or Focus shots, the player can click the AUTO button at the top. To enable Spell Cards as well, the player can click the FULL AUTO button. Note that these two latter buttons should be disengaged in the final attacking sequence if the player does not wish for the status to carry over to the next battle; these can also be disengaged during the intro sequence of a new battle, as well as in any point during a battle bar the outro sequence.

Main Story [ ]

Touhou: Lost Word‘s main story is presented in Chapters; each chapter is further subdivided into Episodes, and each Episode divided into individual stages. Each unlocks as the last one of its kind is cleared. Each Chapter generally covers a story arc, while each Episode generally covers the introduction/reintroduction of a character or new area.

Stages come in two forms, signified by their naming in relation to their episode: stages named «Episode Name Part X» contain story information and have battles specifically tailored to storytelling, while stages named «Episode Name Battle X» are the storytelling equivalent of random encounters and serve to fill out the content. Story-based stages may also feature temporary party members, who cannot be removed and are locked into certain positions for the initial run of the stage. Most story-based stages also feature a boss, while most battle stages are populated entirely by various mooks.

Clearing a stage from the main Story, as well as clearing a stage from the main Story will 3 stars/all goals met, awards the player with the completion of a task. After a chapter has been completed, the player can go back and replay the stages within at a higher difficulty. There are multiple higher tiers of difficulty, each entailing a difficulty spike of an average 20 player levels or more.

Daily Stages [ ]

Daily stages come in three types according to the rewards they give: scrolls, books, or tiles. Each can be accessed on 3 individual days of the week and have a daily play limit of 3 battles. All are accessible on Sundays, making up for the discrepancy between stages and days of the week; on Sundays, the total number of stages playable increases to 9, three for each category.

Each category of daily stage has a number of stages within, increasing in difficulty and named according to a theme. All stages consist of a single wave of three mooks. While each stage is unlockable at a certain player level, they will be easier to complete without spamming Spell Cards if you wait until you reach the recommended player level. (However, spamming Spell Cards is arguably a viable strategy here, as there is no need to preserve them for further waves).

Event Stages [ ]

Events are laid out similarly to the Main stages, with each event being an Episode of its own. Event stages are released in small groups over the course of the event, with the rewards increasing in volume as you progress further. Event stages reward the player with both normal drops and Event Points, which can be exchanged for a variety of things during the event. There are also rare event drops that can also be exchanged for certain rewards. After completing a stage on a given difficulty, you can instantly repeat said stage at the next, higher difficulty level (though the vast difficulty spike is still there). Increasing the difficulty level of a stage vastly increases the number of Event Points earned from the stage.

Story-based event stages have all the hallmarks of Story-based Main stages, such as cutscenes, temporary party members, and bosses. In addition, the first time you play them on a given difficulty, these stages have a x3 loot drop multiplier.

Supporting Gameplay [ ]

Friends [ ]

Friends is the name given to the characters that can be obtained as playable units. Each friend has their own stats and qualities, and can be accessed from the ‘Friends’ button on the bottom-left of the main screen. There are currently 100 slots for friends available, with extra slots being purchasable at Nitori’s Delivery.

Friends can be removed outright from the list by ‘Parting Ways’ with them. This will yield a number of rewards and is one of only two ways to obtain Tokens. Removing friends in permanent and cannot be undone.

Spell Cards [ ]

Similarly to friends, Spell Cards can be Enhanced and Limit Broken. Limit Breaking a Spell Card also yields increasing amounts of background lore about the scene depicted on the card’s art. Spell Cards can also be Parted Ways with, and higher-level spell cards, due to their rarity, give larger amounts of Tokens and other rewards when this occurs.

Prayer [ ]

Prayer is the gacha mechanic utilised by Touhou: Lost Word and is the main source of Friends and Spell Cards. There is a 5% default Friend drop rate, with all other drops being Spell Cards. These rates vary during events. By praying with God Crystals, 1 out of 10 items obtained is guaranteed to be a Friend.

This page has two focuses: linking to every single story card/boss stage guide and listing out each of the cards obtained from the stage and their importance. Any guides linked will only be guides regarding the stages on Lunatic difficuly, mainly because this is where most of the difficulty comes for these farmable story cards. Still, Hard difficulty, which are 4* story cards, will be described to show if they are worth collecting. A theme is mainly that 5* story cards are a lot of Friends’ best cards for their Last Words, while 4* story cards are very easily outclassed by other options, sometimes even more 5* story cards from stage drops.

Story cards are your equipment of Touhou LostWord, and the fact that these cards in particular can be farmed in order to get a Max Limit Broken (MLB) copy without risking the gacha system is rather neat! it can be difficult to obtain these cards with their low drop rates, but hopefully the provided guides will assist you in your efforts.

When the story card’s stats are listed, any values in brackets represent the card at Max Limit Break or when fully enhanced.

Chapter 1 (1-5-4) and Hifuu B3 currently do not have guides for the stage, as many Friends can easily farm these stages and the story cards from them are not as relevant as other ones, which will be explained below.

5* Story Card: My Girl’s the Cutest!

Value: Low

A very simplistic card, which can be somewhat expected from the start of the game, but one that sadly does not really last long in terms of relevancy. The only benefit from Max Limit Breaking this card is more HP restoration, which isn’t the worst effect, but not one that really needs to utilize a story card slot for. The 2 levels of Yang UP is also not the worst, but is easily outclassed by 3 levels of Yang UP from other cards or even skills of some Friends. Lastly, its stat sticks are again, not bad, but nothing impressive either.

4* Story Card: After School as Usual

Value: Very Low

Usually 3* story cards are the ones with only 1 effect, but this early-game 4* story card decided to be very special. On top of that, its use to buff up No-Element attacks is pretty outdated when Puppeteer and Necromancer now exists, a card that can be found in the 3-11-1 section. Strangely enough, the stat sticks are actually not terrible, a bit below-average of the values you’d like, but definitely do not make up for how pointless this card is as equipment.

Understanding Touhou LostWord Gameplay

As already mentioned the game is a turn-based strategy and gacha game.

The gameplay is very complicating so let’s break it down in an easy format for all to understand.

Team: You play as a team of 6 characters and with this team, you are tasked to defeat multiple waves of enemies and unlock the next stages.

HP(health): It represents the health of a character.

Agility: It determines how strong a character is.

Yin attack/ defense: It represents the amount of increase/decrease in attack/defense of yin a friend deals or suffers from.

Yang attack/defense: It represents the amount of increase/decrease in attack/defense of yang a friend deals or suffers from.

Additionally, each character contains spell cards that can be used multiple times in a stage, they also possess a powerful one last word spell which if used neglects the use of regular spell cards thus, and they cannot be used in the stage if the last word is used.

Story cards: These are an extra set of equipable cards that further enhance a character’s innate abilities and further empower spell cards.

Characters level up: You can level up characters by completing stages entering dojos or schools also by, engaging in services provides exp.

Spirit power: Simply put it’s the source of stamina required to play any game.

Understanding Touhou LostWord Character Classes

Defense: These are characters with high defensive capabilities and protect the party. Focus to draw enemy attack towards itself.

Support: These characters Buffs the party making every character’s abilities exceedingly strong.

Heal: Restores all the character’s HP.

S and S+ tier: These characters are the best in the game and perform well in battles.

A tier: These are similar to s tier characters but, have considerably less power than them. They can though perform the same as s tier characters when provided favorable conditions.

The Unknown Barrier Team card (5* Story Card from the end of Main Story Chapter 3 Act 4 on Lunatic) has the pre-attack effect of 2 YIN ATK UP and 50% Energy Bullet UP at Max Limit Break. This card will be highly sought for as the game provides an abundance of Friends with this bullet type.

Starting off with the 50% Energy Bullet UP alone, it defaults as the best in slot card for its bullet type, especially for Last Words. If this card is used by YIN oriented Friends, the 2 YIN ATK UP effect becomes a great addendum to boost their damage potential. As for the stats it provides, it leans a bit more towards YIN ATK (+70 YANG ATK and +80 YIN ATK).
