Depending on the nature and boundlessness of the inner world; users have unlimited possibilities at their disposal that grants a grand variety things that they can use to accomplish absolutely anything from drawing limitless power and knowledge, acquiring new powerful abilities or even overtaking the outer world for a selective amount of time and reshaping it to their desires, allowing them sovereignty over the «outer» world.

Users can be viewed as transcendent beings in and out of their world, capable of just about anything through them. However within one’s world, users are truly absolute beings of their own making, anything that is pulled into their world are completely under their power as well as anything that comes out will be forever bound to them.

Those extremely powerful and rare who have total and complete control over their inner world can perform even greater feats such as imbuing themselves with unimaginable power and peerless status effectively making themselves into an undoubtedly all-powerful being of their world, designing and redefining their inner worlds as they see fit, like for example turning it into multiple universes, a borderless plane, a limitless void, or any other place, creating/erasing life, making absolutely any entities they can imagine and summon them to their aid at will, intentionally or unintentionally manifest inner beings that protects the user against any threat, punish or torment intruders, or empowers them to achieve their goals.

Ultimately, depending on the amount of control and mastery the user has over their boundless inner world, could show how much benevolent or malevolent they can really be as the possibilities for them are essentially endless.

Chapter 1

Chapter 1 Infinite Powerhouse System!

“It’s actually crossing the bird, I wonder if it’s possible to go back?” Standing in an open space, Lu Yi couldn’t help but let out such a sigh.

Something that looks like Time Travel combined with alternative world hopping. GURPS: Infinite Worlds is the default GURPS 4th edition setting, loosely inspired by H. Beam Piper’s «Paratime» novels. The successor to the Third Edition sourcebook GURPS Time Travel and its supplement GURPS Alternate Earths.

The reason is twofold. First, worldlines that learn The Secret may either be aggressive timelines, or become the victim of one, creating another reality-hopping danger. But the second deals with «echo» timelines that mirror Earth’s past — changing an echo by interfering too much may cause that reality to «shift» closer or farther away from Homeline (that is, it becomes more or less easy to access.) In fact, Homeline’s biggest rival, Centrum, a World that also has «cross-time» technology but with a ~~Communist-type~~ socialist technocratic society, seeks to draw worlds «closer» to themselves so they can influence them into developing similar governments. Occasionally, «outtimers» (slang for people from outside Homeline) are recruited to join Infinity if they are judged worthy. This is similar to a Time Police setting genre except it involves parallel worlds instead of the actual past or future. (The book also includes a separate, Time Travel setting called «Project Timepiece» as well as settings such as The Order of the Hourglass, a pulp setting where adventurers travel through time via their minds.)

Oh, by the way there’s a third up-and-coming player in the multiverse that recently extracted The Secret from a crashed Homeline conveyor. Homeline’s name for their timeline? Reich-5.

This setup allows GURPS game masters to permit Crossovers between different genres. For example, the Earth of «IST» from the original GURPS Supers has been recently discovered, which could allow for crossovers between the two settings. This also gives both the player and GM a huge sandbox to play with. This is to some degree, the purpose of the setting, as it literally allows the game master and the players to goof around, err. that is police the infinite multiverse where literally anything is possible (that includes some very weird possibilities) without worrying about actual time-travel (unless you want to, of course) The sheer complexity and size of the multiverse and the parachronic physics is probably the main reason The Secret can be maintained with any success at all.

This lady has been called. She has been faithful to the word and proved it to herself in the far regions of her mind. I have given her the word the Father gave me. She has received it and now knows the truth from personal experience. She saw power, personified as man. She knew he was God, yet the man she knew as Neville. She had to experience this in the depth of her soul in order to know that it was true.

Now, as I tell you another dream, remember: everything, no matter what it is, is a symbol. This lady found herself in a dormitory with many other girls. Each girl held a chart covering twelve days, with each day headed by the first letter of an event she would experience that day. A girl showed her a chart with the letter «K» marking the day, saying her child was to be kidnapped, as she needed that experience. Becoming angry, this lady told the girl she didn’t have to experience these things. That she could revise the day’s experience by using the power of her imagination. As doubt began to permeate the room, she took her own child and left.

After what appeared to be a very long time, this lady returned to find the room now occupied by another, who had removed her books. As she demanded their return, the scene changed, and she is in a room where everyone was singing because her grandmother was coming. Although her grandmother had died in 1962, she appeared to be young, with lots of vitality. They embraced and she could feel the coolness of her grandmother’s skin. Then her body became rigid and as it fell against the lady, she saw the symbolism of the act of love.

This lady has tasted of the power of the age to come, and now sees everything as a symbol and we, merely actors in the play of life. Returning to an old state, she sees it as the same play being repeated with slight modifications. While trying to bring the past back to its former state by replacing her books, she realizes it means nothing. And as she sees her grandmother alive, young, vital, and wonderful and recognizes the symbolism she represents, her grandmother vanishes from sight.

When the question was asked: «What is the work of God?» the answer came: «To believe in him whom he has sent.» This does not mean to believe in Neville as a man, but to believe what I tell you. Otherwise, the hospital (run by the Episcopal church) would receive the money. Well, the old boy outlived her, so Saint Luke’s fell heir to two million dollars. That is what goes on in all of these so-called proper churches and hasn’t a thing to do with being called, or knowing the only true God.

In the book of 1 Samuel, the story is told of how the people, wanting to be like all the others, desired to have a leader over them. Then Samuel said: «A king will take your sons from you for his army. He will take your maid servants, your male servants, your daughters and your money. And when he has taken everything from you, he will take you. In that day he will enslave you as he has all the others. Then you will cry out to be saved from a god of your own choosing, but in that day I will have no ears to hear you.» In spite of the warning the people chose Saul, who enslaved them exactly as the prophet Samuel had foretold.

Choose one 1st level spell that you can cast. For the duration, you may cast the spell without consuming spell slots.

If cast as a 7th level spell, you may select 2nd level spells. If cast as a 9th level spell, you may cast 3rd level spells.

So a few questions:

1) My first thought would be 5th level. Consuming your concentration to throw around 1st level spells at will (and your cantrips already scale so its more for utility than damage) seems completely fine, even maybe underpowered. Is there any spell where this would just be utterly broken to use it on? Do you think the duration is fine, or too little/too long?

2) The upscale. That’s 7th level for an infinite 2nd level spell, and 9th level for an infinite 3rd level spell. Again seems completely reasonable if not even underpowered, but tell what you think.

So my goal with this was not to create an «imbue with spell» like power, so I probably wouldn’t do a wand. A «charge» notion I could do if people really feel its OP.

So far with have.

1) Take an hour and get the party back up to full hp (assuming the wizard finds some way to get cure on their list, which is possible I’m sure). Is that OP? My group tends to do fewer encounters in a day so I’m biased against end of combat recovery being that strong, so I could definitely use opinions here.

2) At will fireball for an hour at 17th level. is that OP compared to a once per day Meteor Swarm or Wish?

3) With Animate Dead at 17th, I could make 60 zombies in one hour for my 9th level slot. Is that OP?

4) With tiny servant, I could command 60 servants with my 9th level slot, again requiring an hour of prep. Here we might be talking, a real army that is weak but at least has some HP and good condition resistances. 60 of anything in 5e can in theory pack a punch. But for a 17th level wizard, is this going to give him any advantages over summoning big nasty creatures (like elementals), or more damage than Blade of Destruction or a Meteor Swarm? This is at least one I think could have some abuses.

that’s what I’m trying to suss out. I mean at first glance, anything that gives you at-will stuff is an immediate red flag. I mean, how could it not be OP?

But. I thought it about it for a little bit, and I didn’t find anything myself that I immediately considered OP for the 5th level equivalent, so now I’m asking the greater group. If we just go beyond the stigma, and ask «with current spells what can a Wizard actually do with this that would be considered «abusive».

If you’re playing Super Mario 3D World and need some help, here’s where you can get started. Be warned. This is not an easy game to get through, and you’ll need some good old-fashioned gaming skills to get all the way through to the end. And if you want to get 100% competition, you’ve got your work cut out for you. Below we’ve got a starter’s guide to get you up and running, followed by a power-up guide. And then finally, we’ve got a video that shows you how to get infinite lives, should you need that many!

So let’s get started!

There are five heroes in the game, each of whom has their own strengths and weaknesses. At various points during the game, you’ll need to play as each one, since there are switches in the game that can only be activated by a specific character. Here’s a quick run-down of each character:

How do I change characters in Super Mario 3D World?

Select a level, and just before it begins (at the Course Start Screen), press the B button and use the left analog stick or D-pad to cycle through the available characters, then press B again to make your selection.

Can I store power-ups in Super Mario 3D World?

Is there a Super Leaf in Super Mario 3D World?

Yes! Lose five consecutive lives and the Super Leaf box appears. Hit it and grab the leaf to become invincible throughout the entire level.

However, using the Super Leaf means you won’t get the sparkling star atop the flagpole next to the level on the World Map. You’ll have to replay the stage without the Super Leaf to get that.

I am still doing my other worm horror game fanfic, so I’m not sure what the update period will be like on this one. I just had to get this out there at the very least.

I have no military background or anything. I haven’t even read any of the actual manga/novels whatever for these shipgirl things, only in (mostly) Worm fanfics.
Please let me know if I’m using terminology incorrectly.

I do however love Halo and have gone through (almost) all of the games (not Infinite, so NO SPOILERS PLEASE, I’m waiting for PC coop mode to come out to play with tons of friends and family). I have only seen the cutscenes for Halo 5, as I haven’t owned a console since the 360.

Her unconscious form was trapped in the locker, marinating in filth.

Her crew decided that something had to be done, so they scrambled and one, two, three, four miniaturized ships peeled off of her and punched through the thin steel that made up her locker door. They rocketed through the empty hallways, making their way to the closest point of egress. They punched through the door to the outside, leaving tiny holes behind.

The first two ships headed straight up, gaining enough space from the school to maintain positions above the school. The third ship headed out towards the docks, where it could provide overwatch for the girl’s father. The fourth ship took up an overwatch position above the middle of the city.

The first ship returned to its original size, displacing a massive amount of air in almost no time, causing a massive sonic boom that shook the school below it. Car alarms were set off, windows rattled, animals startled and some accidents caused by the noise within a several-kilometer radius of the school as the ship materialized, seemingly out of nothing above them. Yep. Totally normal reactions to having a Strident-class heavy frigate appear half a kilometre above a school.

It proceeded to deploy its accompaniment of four pelicans before repositioning itself and slowly accelerating to leave the atmosphere.

A second thunderous boom was made as an Anlace-class light frigate expanded to its normal size, where the Strident had been but a moment before.

While this was happening, the crew members and their multiple AI were connecting to the internet and going over the information as fast as possible. Discovering information on the world they suddenly found themselves in, classifying friendlies and foes, cataloguing potential threats to be eliminated.

Friendlies were lacking, one Daniel Hebert and even he was iffy. Foes… There were many. Oni and their AI were pouring over them, figuring out which ones would need to be dealt with immediately, and which could wait. Which ones warranted… a light touch and which ones could be… outright eliminated.

Four loud cracks could be heard as the pelicans grew to normal size. One of the four pelicans split off towards the docks, they needed to find, protect and escort a Daniel Hebert to his daughter. Nothing could be allowed to happen to him. If necessary, the Anlace-class light frigate hovering in miniaturized form above the docks could regain normal size and offer fire support.

The other three pelicans swooped down towards the school, two of them taking position on either side of the school, ready to either drop off troops or act as gunships. (G79H-TC Pelican x 2)

The third dropped down slightly above the parking lot and disgorged a team of Spartans.

The lead spartan pointed at the front door to the school, “The VIP is in there, we’re performing search and rescue.”

The other four looked at the building, then back at him before nodding and saying “Affirmative!”

They moved out, breaking into a run towards the building, guns ready, planning on evacuating the VIP and expecting civilian presences to be filling the hallways and blocking the way.

They made it to the front door, made sure the way was clear and kicked the large doors down, not even waiting to see if they were locked or not. They jogged down the hallway, seeing classroom doors on both sides of them, sometimes opening and having someone stick their head out, only to scream and slam the door shut after them.

Half a minute later, they were at the top of the stairs, looking at the hallway that contained their target.

“She should be down this hallway, trapped in a locker. Keep your eyes peeled.” The leader said, before moving out.

The rest took position behind him, two following him just behind and on either side of him, the other two making sure to cover their flank. The occasional student coming around a corner or out of a classroom, seeing them, screaming and either running away or hiding.

They came to the locker, got into protective formation around it and the leader knocked once, twice on the locker but got no reply. He took the lock in his hand and crushed it, then pulled open the locker, careful to catch the individual inside before they could fall to the floor.

One of the larger Spartans commented on her tiny form, “She’s puny.” The leader looked at her tiny form and nodded before saying, “That she is.”

The fire alarm went off.

“We’ve been made,” one of the Spartans swore.

They moved out, two Spartans leading the way, the leader gently carrying the VIP, the other two taking up the rear, hurrying down the hallway, scaring kids back into their classrooms.

When they got to the bottom of the stairwell, they encountered a hallway of slow-moving students, evacuating at a speed that only a bunch of bored teenagers stuck at school can. Lethargically.

“Out of the way! Everyone clear the way!” The Spartan leader yelled at the hallway as they made their way forward, making their way through the crowded hallway, students moving out of the way of the giant well-armed forms making their way through them. This wouldn’t be high school if there weren’t at least a few of them with cellphones out recording the procession as it went.

“I’m wiping their recordings,” said his friendly AI to the leader as they moved, making sure to wipe all the cellphones’ recordings to retain as much information security as possible given the circumstances.

“What the hell are those?” “Why do they have guns in a school?” “Are they kidnapping that girl?” “Holy shit, look at the size of that sniper rifle!” “ Is that a rocket launcher?!” “Call the cops!” “Call the PRT!” “Call the ARMY!”

They got out of the school and made their way past the crowded students to the parking lot where the Pelican waited for them. The front two Spartans hopped in, then the leader passed the unconscious girl to them, as careful as they could be. Then the rest of the Spartans hopped in and the Pelican lifted off.

“Chief, the nearest hospital’s that way.” The AI said, giving directions to the nearest hospital. They took off and the two gunships followed them in Diamond formation, providing a safe escort.

The pelican screamed through the air, fortunately not having to go far, as the docks weren’t far off.

They were given the position of Daniel Hebert and an AI was already on the phone with him to confirm his presence before they even separated from the Frigate.

“Hello, this is Daniel Hebert.”

“What do you mean she’s been hurt! What the hell happened?!”

“Ok, so someone’s already on their way and will be taking her straight to the hospital. I need to leave then.”

“You’re sending an armoured vehicle to make sure I get there as quickly and as safely as possible? I’ll recognize it when I see it? Good enough, I’ll be waiting outside.”

(A few minutes later)

Daniel Hebert was not a complicated fellow. He loved his family and did his best to see that they were taken care of (although he missed his wife something fierce), even if he had fallen out of touch with his daughter. Between his daughter and his job (as frustratingly depressing as that could be most of the time) he didn’t have much. And now someone had told him that his daughter had been injured at school. So help him God, there wasn’t much that could cause him to lose his temper, but when it did, he burned cold and voraciously. First, he’d make sure Taylor was ok and then he’d do whatever had to be done to punish whoever had hurt his reason for living.

He looked around, where were they?

It turned around and landed in front of him, the ramp descended and he saw several suited/armoured men, all carrying weapons. One of the larger ones that was waiting at the rear for him said, “Sir! Come with us, this is the fastest way to your daughter!” while gesturing inside the… airship.

“Ok.” Daniel said, before grabbing their hand and getting inside the machine before the rear ramp closed and they took off.

Taylor, what the hell happened to you? He thought to himself while putting on a seatbelt.

The AI contacted the hospital to let them know they had an injured VIP incoming and to expect an airship, with a heavily armed escort.

They were told to land on the hospital’s helicopter pad, and so they did. By the time the ramp was lowered, the hospital had prepared a doctor and some assistants along with a mobile cot.

The first two Spartans lept out, guns at the ready. The following three carefully got out while passing Taylor down. They went over and placed her on the cot.

“This is the VIP. Her health is of paramount importance. We will be watching.” The lead Spartan told them, pointing upwards as another loud *Crackaboom!* rang out as another Anlace-class light frigate appeared above the hospital.

“I understand, she will survive, no matter what we need to do,” the doctor said with a solemn look on his face. He turned to one of his assistants and told them to call in Panacea, just in case.

They wheeled her inside, the Spartans following along, scanning for any and all possible threats.

The pelican carrying Daniel to his daughter arrived a few minutes later. They arrived at the guest entrance, and Daniel leapt out, followed by another Spartan team.

They ran inside, people backing away, making a path for them to get by. Security guards looked on edge, but not yet drawing weapons.

“I’m here for my daughter, she should have been brought here several minutes ago. Her name is Taylor Hebert!” He shouted at the person behind the desk.

“I’ll have someone take you right to her.” They gestured to a security guard who had been waiting nearby. “Take them to the VIP.”

“Alright, follow me, but please leave the weapons here.”

“Not happening. A Spartan never leaves their weapons behind.” A Spartan said in return.

“Alright fine. Just don’t shoot anyone!” This was way above his paygrade. Literally.

Daniel burst into the room, seeing his daughter being looked at by several doctors, a squad of Spartans keeping an eye on them. He noticed a pile of nasty-smelling clothing that looked like it had to have been cut off of her in a large sealed bag with hazmat signs on it.

“Sir, please stay back, we’ve got our best doctors working on her right now.” The security guard and a medical assistant held him back from approaching her.

He clenched his fists as tight as he could, drawing blood. He turned to the Spartan team in the room and said, “You’re going to find out who did this and make them pay, right?”

The team leader looked at him for a moment, dead silent. Eventually he nodded and said, “Sir.”

“Good, good.” He said, before he went to go sit down, before his legs turned to jelly. He sat there, his hands together, watching them go over his daughter, praying to whatever god he had to to make sure she was ok.

Armsmaster was this close to finishing work that would increase the penetrative power on his next-gen halberd when all of a sudden *NEEEERT* the alarm went off.

He activated his radio, “What’s the situation?”

“Sir, a huge spaceship has appeared above Winslow High!”

“Fu- what. Send all available units! Tell them I’m on my way.” He said, grabbing his main halberd and rushing to get to the armsmobile.

A moment later, “Sir! Another ship has appeared! In the same location after the first one launched four smaller craft before heading up into the sky.”

Fuck. Spaceships. Who would have thought.

By the time he had gotten onto his motorcycle and started riding across the rainbow bridge to land, he could see the ship above the school. It was huge.

“What the hell was that?” He yelled into his microphone.

“Sir! Another one has appeared over the Brockton Bay General Hospital! They called to say that they were warned of an impending injured VIP. They say that the VIP is accompanied by multiple gunships in the area, providing protection. The spaceship that just appeared is acting as a deterrent towards anyone who might try to take advantage of the situation.”

“Godda- alright, I’m changing course towards the hospital, alert me to any changes in the situation. Make sure that at least some of the Protectorate / PRT make it to the damned school in the meantime. Armsmaster out.”

Armmaster grit his teeth and sped off towards the hospital. So help him God, he was going to get to the bottom of this.

“What the hell was that?!” Director Piggot yelled into her desk phone.

“Ma’am, look out your window, towards Winslow High!”

“What the hell am I looking at?!”

Another, slightly smaller ship appeared in the sky, right where the previous one had just vacated.

“Are those bloody spaceships above my city?!” She screamed into the phone.

“Yes Ma’am, really big ones too!”

Piggot was in a group call with several other PRT Directors, along with PRT Director Costa-Brown and some high-ranked members of the Army, Airforce and Navy.

“What the bloody hell is it now?!”

Someone burst into her office a moment later and yelled out, “Ma’am, another one appeared above the Brockton Bay General Hospital! They say that they have received an injured VIP, accompanied by several gunships and another spaceship above them for protection.”

“I want half of our troops redirected from the school to the hospital. I want to know what’s going on, who that VIP is and where the fuck those ships came from!” She yelled back at him.

“Yes Ma’am!” He left the room and closed the door with a slam behind him.

She turned back to her call and said, “I want immediate support. I don’t care where it comes from, the PRT, the Protectorate, the god damn girl guides. Just SEND ANYTHING.”

“We’re scrambling jets from Ft Meade to Moody. We’ll have jets in the air and providing air support as fast as humanly possibly.”

“We’re sending the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, along with cruisers USS Bunker Hill and USS Chosin and destroyers USS Fitgerald and USS Gonzalez. They should all arrive in five to ten hours.”

“We’ll be sending Alexandria, but any troops we can send would ultimately prove less useful than the troops already on their way and arrive slower than them to boot. Alexandria should help re-establish control of the airspace over your city if it’s possible.”

Piggot let out a slow breath. It was more than she had hoped for.

“Alright, thank you. Just be warned, if they start firing at my city, I will be activating the Endbringer alarms.”

“Understood, good luck and God bless.”

Now to figure out what in the seven hells was going on in her city.

Infinite welfare

«in a distant dystopian future, everyone becomes a billionaire by printing their own money. society has completely collapsed and now everyone is trying to kill each other with terribly made weapons of mass destruction»

infinite welfare is a game developed by Official Team Facepalm that pits you and your friends in endless fights to the death with horribly-made weapons of mass destruction. It features a multitude of bizarre and unique weapons that you can use to violently maim your enemies, ranging from the keyboard of John Doe to bottles of holy water.

There are currently eleven maps present in infinite welfare; the game will occasionally rotate between maps. Every map has a big moon that constantly watches the battlefield.

Crocket Arena

Crocket Arena consists of nine blue pillars connected by multi-colored bridges. This map is a slightly modified version of the ROBLOX classic Rocket Arena; the lava is no longer present, the signs are modified, and trampolines are added to provide players who fall off the bridges a way back up.

Baseplate

Baseplate is a large, flat, square platform that can be one of five colors; flint, dark grey, black, green, or brown. The size of the platform will expand and contact as players join and leave.

Happy Home

Happy Home is the 2008 version of the ROBLOX default place. This map consists of the following: a beige house with a red roof, a batch of trees, a seesaw, a slide, a playground, and a wide array of blocks that were previously meant for building.

Festive Crocket Arena

A Christmas-themed version of Crocket Arena. Unlike Crocket Arena, there’s no lower level; instead, the gaps in the arena are filled in with ice. The map’s colors are also changed to green, red, and white. This map has a 5% chance of replacing the original Crocket Arena.

Tilted Baseplate

Unlike the normal Baseplate, this map is slightly tilted in a random direction on the X and Z axes. This map has a 5% chance of replacing the original Baseplate.

Sunset Plains

Like the classic ROBLOX map, but with a twist and remade from the ground up. It contains several trees, a couple of buildings, a mountain, and a waterfall.

Glass Houses

A remake of the classic ROBLOX map with all of its features intact, with the exception of the killbots. Players can utilize the cannons on each side of the map to kill other players and destroy buildings.

Inspired by the classic ROBLOX map, Crossroads, this map has 4 distinct areas based on certain areas of the state. The northwest section is based off of Toledo, the northeast section is based off of East Cleveland, the southwest section is a large cornfield, and the southeast section is a forest. There is a hidden radio located in the northeast section that plays an exceprt from the YouTube video Hastily Made Cleveland Tourism Video: 2nd Attempt.

Walmart

An original map based on the supermarket chain. Most of the map takes place in the parking lot, where you can ride the cars placed throughout the parking lot. The map also contains the entryway to said Walmart and a built-in Subway. The Subway has a orb that says the join messages that show up when you first join the game. It also features police officers pointing their guns at an unarmed protestor and a dog.

Raven Rock

An autumn-themed version of the ROBLOX Battle map, featuring orange trees, Crocket Arena billboards, and a blood red river.

Halloween Mansion

An exact copy of the Haunted Mansion featured in epicer game.

Silent Houses

An original map insisting of two Soviet-style apartment buildings separated by a middle area with a playground, trees, and a small, black building titled: «idiot box».

Gameplay

Gameplay consists of spawning with numerous random and unique items, some of which can be used offensively or defensively and some of which can be utilized by the player. Every time you die, you will spawn with new items.

infinite welfare features a unique combo system where certain weapons can synergize; additionally, some weapons can be crafted together to produce unique or upgraded items. Weapons can also be enchanted to receive addition on-hit effects.

Killfeed

infinite welfare utilizes a killfeed that displays user KOs and deaths. Your kills will appear with a yellow highlight clientside.

Leaderboard

infinite welfare displays the stats of every player in the server via a leaderboard system. The leaderboard displays the following stats: the beatings a player obtained in their current session (beatings), the amount of beatings a player has obtained in their current life (killstreak), and the total beatings from all of their sessions combined (all beatings). Though these stats are mostly trivial, they can help a player obtain true excalibur easier.

Certain players can have small 16×16 icons next to their usernames, this is exclusive to Offical Team Facepalm developers and game mods. Developers are represented by the Discord server’s :yeet: emoji. Game mods are represented by the flushed emoji.

Совсем недавно мы изучали типичный бизнес-десктоп MSI Pro DP130, а сегодня решили заняться немного другим, но близким направлением — массовым игровым ПК той же компании. Бытует точка зрения, что это два непересекающихся мира. На деле — почти одно и тоже. В компьютерах, рассчитанных на массовый рынок, как правило, нет никаких эксклюзивных решений — таковые хорошо смотрятся на выставках, но не слишком востребованы в быту и на производстве, а вот цену повышают заметно. По той же причине в этих линейках никогда (или почти никогда) не встречаются топовые компоненты — рынок устроен так, что чем выше вложения, тем ниже отдача. То есть процессор среднего класса может стоить в два раза дороже бюджетного, но работать в три раза быстрее. А заплатив еще в три раза больше, вы не получите даже двукратного увеличения быстродействия. Есть точка перегиба, до которой выгодно не экономить без жесткой необходимости, а выше уже нет смысла переплачивать. Впрочем, «лакшери-спрос» тоже существует, но в компьютерном мире он удовлетворяется отдельными линейками компьютеров и ноутбуков — интересными технически, мощными, нередко даже красивыми внешне, но дорогими. А массовый сегмент — типичные рабочие или игровые лошадки, нормально справляющиеся с массовыми же задачами и продающиеся по ценам, которые удовлетворяют массового покупателя. Поскольку ничего такого уж выдающегося в них обычно не бывает, подобные компьютеры часто собираются и самостоятельно — для многих это попросту самодостаточное хобби и возможность определенной кастомизации, когда компьютер подгоняется под собственные потребности, а не под некие усредненные. А можно пойти в магазин и купить готовый системный блок — обойдется практически в те же деньги, но сэкономит время.

С деньгами вообще временами происходят интересные ситуации. В самом начале майнингового бума «Авито» и подобные площадки пестрели объявлениями о продаже «выпотрошенных» игровых системных блоков по привлекательным ценам. Происходило это из-за того, что розничный рынок комплектующих на дефицит видеокарт отреагировал быстрее, нежели сегмент готовых решений, поэтому оказывалось выгоднее купить целый компьютер практически по цене видеокарты (которую и вовсе было не купить — их просто не было в свободном доступе), видеокарту оттуда достать, а продажа остального на вторичном рынке со скидкой просто приносила дополнительную выгоду. Потом, конечно, цены подравнялись, но и сейчас нередко игровой компьютер можно купить дешевле суммарной розничной цены его компонентов. Особенно в условиях разных распродаж, которые в торговле комплектующими редки, а вот в магазинах, торгующих электроникой, случаются куда чаще. Там же распространены разнообразные беспроцентные рассрочки, позволяющие растянуть процесс оплаты покупки либо просто сэкономить процентов 10 ее стоимости, расплатившись досрочно, а не по графику.

В общем, есть много факторов, влияющих на выбор между самостоятельной сборкой и покупкой готового системного блока. Даже в тех случаях, когда и первое проблем не вызывает, не говоря уже о прочих случаях. Как минимум, пока дело не выходит за рамки массового сегмента. Что-то эксклюзивное и заточенное под персональные потребности зачастую проще просчитывать и проектировать с нуля, чем пытаться доработать унифицированное решение. Однако иногда верно и обратное: миниатюрные компьютеры (а среди таковых давно есть и игровые решения) «с нуля» в домашних условиях не сделаешь. Придется подождать, пока что-нибудь подходящее освоят производители систем. А вот на «обычных» десктопах это ожидание может сработать и в другую сторону: если в обязательном порядке требуются «свежайшие» аппаратные решения, то проще собирать. Производители мигрируют с платформы на платформу с заметной задержкой. При этом и ассортимент конкретных процессоров, плат или видеокарт всегда будет ограниченным — в точном соответствии с массовыми потребностями и массовым производством, но чтоб не выпускать слишком много похожих моделей.

И, разумеется, максимальная унификация компонентов между компьютерами разного назначения — насколько такая возможна. Для игрового ПК главным элементом является видеокарта — это главное, что его отличает от всех прочих. А платформа будет той же, что и в бизнес-десктопах — так удобнее. Некоторые убеждены, что в офисе хватит и Pentium, а вот в игровой компьютер непременно нужно устанавливать топовые процессоры и «геймерские» платы. На самом деле, во втором необходимости нет, а офисы бывают разными. И сотрудники в них занимаются решением разных задач, так что и вычислительные ресурсы им нужны разные. Кому-то на стол и вовсе придется поставить нечто похожее на игровой ПК — поскольку видеокарты в современных условиях полезны не только для игр. С другой стороны, во многих приложениях для работы с графикой или видео интегрированный GPU — это тоже «видеокарта», причем иногда и превосходящая (в рамках этих приложений) младшие игровые дискретные решения, так что тут не все так однозначно. Но вот по процессорам, памяти, возможности расширения, ремонтопригодности и т. п. обычно примерный паритет. Когда эти вопросы действительно волнуют — иначе вовсе не обязательно замыкаться на модульных десктопах, а можно выбрать мини-ПК или моноблок.

Для игрового же применения подобной гибкости нет: должна быть мощная видеокарта, вокруг которой все и пляшет. В частности, ее нужно как-то разместить в корпусе, причем так, чтоб все это не перегревалось, не шумело и могло быть со временем модернизировано. Поэтому и требования к массовому игровому ПК во всем, за исключением платформы и системы хранения данных, несколько отличаются от предъявляемых к бизнес-десктопам. Посмотрим, насколько хорошо удалось их удовлетворить в семействе MSI MAG Infinite S3 11th.

Экстерьер

Наличие в системе мощной дискретной видеокарты, как уже сказано, предъявляет определенные требования к корпусу. Сделать игровой ПК одновременно мощным и компактным можно (например, таким был изученный нами MSI MEG Trident X), однако это бьет по цене и возможностям расширения. А вот традиционный подход с установкой видеокарты поперек системной платы более гуманен к покупателю, почему и продолжает властвовать на массовом рынке. Но места для творчества дизайнера оставляет мало, так что в ходу традиционные «ящики», объемом от 30 литров. В топовых сериях — и больше, поскольку там приходится устанавливать полноразмерные АТХ-платы, топовые видеокарты, топовые процессоры с мощной системой охлаждения, мощные блоки питания и т. п. Однако с задачами среднестатистического геймера справляются и более компактные решения на базе microATX. Именно такой подход мы видим и здесь — поэтому порядка 30 литров. А чтоб как-то выделиться, дизайнеры компании разработали угловатую «многоуровневую» переднюю панель и сделали корпус немного наклонным — передняя «нога» выше задней.

Кроме того, вентилятор процессорного охладителя снабжен подсветкой, а левая боковая стенка — окном. Опять же, в топовых системах она, как правило, изготовлена целиком из закаленного стекла, а здесь именно пластиковое окно. Так дешевле, но свою задачу выполняет. При этом в комплекте есть и глухая боковина, которой можно воспользоваться в тех случаях, когда вся эта цветомузыка не нравится. Тем более правильное решение.

Вид в профиль оригинальный благодаря тому самому наклону. Хотя и видно, что это стандартный прямоугольный ящик, ну и что? Так хоть немного, да веселее, а более нестандартные решения обошлись бы дороже, что большинству покупателей не нравится.

Внутри. все ожидаемо. Когда-то передняя часть корпуса была занята дисковой корзиной для трехдюймовых устройств и трех- и пятидюймовыми отсеками с внешним доступом для оптических дисководов, просто дисководов, разных панелек и картоводов. Со временем из массового сегмента практически все эти устройства вытеснили в отдельные ниши — зато видеокарты удлинились и разжирели. Это привело и к изменению внутренней компоновки корпусов — что мы видим и в этом случае. Видеокарту можно поставить практически любую, хотя в качестве максимальной для линейки заявлена Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070, а большинство компьютеров снабжается более компактными RTX 3060 или 2060. Но не пригодится сейчас — может оказаться полезным потом. Мало ли — владелец решит модернизировать компьютер по частям (поскольку никаких проблем этот подход не вызывает), а не новый покупать. Заодно осталась и возможность установить пару двухдюймовых винчестеров или SSD и один трехдюймовый жесткий диск в дополнение к штатному накопителю. Таковой по-умолчанию имеет емкость 512 ГБ или 1 ТБ, чего в игровом компьютере может оказаться и недостаточно. До трех дополнительных устройств закроют до 99% потребностей. Но, поскольку таковые могут различаться, в MSI не стали делать кучу законченных сборок (с одним SSD, с двумя SSD, с одним SSD и жестким диском, с двумя SSD и жестким диском и т. п.), ограничившись минимально необходимым и достаточным вариантом. «Первичный» NVMe-накопитель установлен просто на плату — а дальше можно расширять систему по личному вкусу.

Вид сзади тоже ничего необычного не выдает. Разве что антенны модуля беспроводной связи — при самостоятельной сборке многие до сих пор обходятся проводами, хотя в настоящее время это не слишком правильно на наш взгляд. И вообще специфика современного рынка такова, что Wi-Fi может оказаться быстрее и не дороже проводного гигабита, а более быстрые кабели продолжают буксовать с выходом на массовый рынок.

Беспроводной адаптер можно добавить и позднее, но если такая возможность производителем изначально предусмотрена, то лучше пусть он это и делает. Как в данном случае. А набор коммуникационных портов сразу же указывает на использование недорогой платы — всего шесть USB-портов, два из которых лишь USB 3.2 Gen1, а четыре — и вовсе USB 2.0. Но для массового решения — достаточно.

Тем более, что еще пара USB 3.2 (один из которых Type-C — но все равно Gen1) вместе с разъемами для игровой гарнитуры расположены в передней части верхней грани. Так что сюда как раз и будут втыкаться всякие флэшки и внешние диски (если последние найдутся), а задние порты целиком и полностью остаются для нужд разной периферии — которой сегодня у среднестатистического пользователя тоже не так и много (особенно с тех пор, как МФУ освоили локальную сеть).

В общем, все по минимуму — всегда необходимому и почти всегда достаточному. Это самое «почти» как раз и оставляет место для самостоятельных экспериментов — или выбору компьютера другой серии. Коих и в ассортименте MSI хватает — никуда не делись те же компактные Trident, просто мощные Codex или футуристические Aegis. Серия же Infinite — это такие рабочие лошадки, ориентированные на массовое производство и продажи. Поэтому и подход такой: минимум — но необходимый и достаточный. И недорогой.

Аппаратная конфигурация

То же самое касается и начинки — начиная с платформы. Три упомянутые выше серии уже начали миграцию с «11th» к «12th», т. е. переход с одиннадцатого (Rocket Lake) на двенадцатое поколение Core (Alder Lake), а вот у Infinite в этом плане все еще впереди. За что, возможно, «спасибо» надо сказать ценам на модули памяти DDR5 — пока еще в массовых линейках ее использование не оправдано, а мигрировать на LGA1700, но с DDR4 в MSI нужным, по-видимому, не считают: раз все новое — значит все новое. С другой стороны, «новое» всегда дороже старого, а максимальная разница между поколениями наблюдается в топовых Core i9 — которые для игр пока избыточны. Плюс особенности гетерогенной архитектуры, заставляющие привязываться к Windows 11, что тоже не слишком популярно. В общем, нюансы все еще есть — и грузить ими целевую аудиторию таких систем не стоит. В большинстве модификаций Core i5-11400F — которого банально достаточно для игр и сегодня, и с запасом. Позднее можно поменять, а можно и приобрести модель на восьмиядерном Core i7-11700F — и вообще надолго успокоиться.

В итоге и выходит, что «база» системы та же, что и в MSI Pro DP130 — просто там встречаются и Pentium с Core i3, а в Infinite минимум Core i5. Но системная плата — абсолютно та же MS-7D22, которая продается и в розницу под маркой MSI H510M-A PRO. Все необходимое в нее воткнуть можно — и этого хватит. И лишних точек приложения шаловливых ручек давать не стоит — как и большинство бюджетных плат она не позволяет снять лимиты энергопотребления процессора, так что последний будет всегда укладываться в условные «65 Вт» и обходиться простым и недорогим кулером. Правда вот если лимиты снять, то производительность процессоров последних двух поколений можно серьезно увеличить — но это уже несколько другой спорт, нежели продажи готовых игровых компьютеров, которые должны работать быстро, но долго и надежно. А если быстрее, но с риском возникновения проблем — то лучше не нужно.

Вот видеокарты здесь радикально отличаются от бизнес-десктопов — поскольку в игровом компьютере это главный элемент. Компания говорит о применении GeForce RTX, причем вплоть до RTX 3070, однако в спецификациях такой вариант не упомянут — зато нашлось там место модели на GTX 1660 Super. Но в основном RTX 2060 и 3060 в паре с Core i5-11400F или 3060 Ti с i7-11700F. Логично — 1660 до сих пор неплохо подходит для игр в разрешении Full HD (по сей день самом массовом), 2060 позволит во многих играх познакомиться и с трассировкой лучей, а 3060 практически полностью перекрывает потребности FHD-гейминга вместе с лучами и всеми остальными «красивостями». Нужны более высокие разрешения? Значит нужны более дорогие видеокарты — и компьютеры более дорогих линеек. Все просто.

Объем памяти — всегда 16 ГБ, но в некоторых моделях двумя модулями, а в некоторых (и в нашем экземпляре, в частности) — одним. Второе упрощает его последующее увеличение, что является нормальной компенсацией за (временное) отсутствие двухканального режима: в играх все все равно упрется в видеокарту, так что от процессора и, тем более, памяти зависеть частота кадров фактически не будет.

Емкость «штатного» SSD — 512 ГБ или 1 ТБ. В первом случае обычно встречается безбуферный WD PC SN540 (примерный аналог розничного Blue SN570), что неплохо. С терабайтником же вообще повезло — в нашем компьютере был установлен WD PC SN730, который даже немного лучше, чем не так давно топовый WD Black SN750. Время массового внедрения PCIe Gen4 пока еще все равно не настало, так что вендоры не торопятся. Собственно, используемая материнская плата SSD с таким интерфейсом и не поддерживает.

Блок питания, пожалуй, единственное, что немного ограничивает расширяемость — все-таки всего 500 Вт, что может стать сдерживающим фактором при последующей замене видеокарты или решении модернизировать платформу. Однако вспоминаем все сказанное выше — по-умолчанию система рассчитана на видеокарты уровня не выше RTX 3070 и процессоры с TDP 65 Вт и предназначена для массового гейминга. Так что покомпонентный апгрейд если и будет, то с наибольшей вероятностью в рамках того же класса — просто на более новые комплектующие, которые при том же уровне энергопотребления смогут работать быстрее. Поэтому и устанавливать более мощные БП нецелесообразно. Вначале они никому из покупателей не потребуются, а потом, может быть, небольшая часть таковых расширенными возможностями и воспользуется, но платить за это придется всем и сразу. Кажется ограничением? Значит эта серия компьютеров просто не для вас — только и всего. Как уже сказано, есть и другие — под другие запросы. И есть они как в ассортименте MSI, так и у других вендоров.

Уровень шума и энергопотребления

Измерение уровня шума мы проводим в специальной звукоизолированной и полузаглушенной камере. При этом микрофон шумомера располагается на расстоянии 50 см от передней панели. Нагрузка создается с помощью программы powerMax, температура в помещении поддерживается на уровне 24 градусов, но ПК специально не обдувается, поэтому в непосредственной близости от него температура воздуха может быть выше. Для оценки реального потребления мы также приводим (для некоторых режимов) потребление от сети.

В целом, если сравнивать, например, с типичным игровым ноутбуком, то этот ПК не является шумным устройством. Характер шума раздражения не вызывает. Спектрограмма, полученная для максимальной нагрузки, достаточно ровная, выраженных пиков нет (пиком на 49 Гц можно пренебречь, так как частота низкая):

Для субъективной оценки уровня шума применим такую шкалу:

Ниже 20 дБА компьютер условно бесшумный, от 20 до 25 дБА ПК можно назвать очень тихим, от 25 до 30 дБА шум от системы охлаждения не будет сильно выделяться на фоне типичных звуков, окружающих пользователя в офисе с несколькими сотрудниками и работающими компьютерами, от 30 до 35 дБА шум отчетливо слышно, от 35 до 40 дБА шум превышает комфортный уровень для долговременной работы, от 40 до 45 дБА компьютер работает очень шумно и для работы необходима, например, маскировка фоновой музыкой, от 45 до 50 дБА уровень шума очень некомфортный, а от 50 дБА и выше шум настолько высокий, что необходимо использовать наушники. Шкала, конечно, очень условная и не учитывает индивидуальных особенностей пользователя и характер звука.

Что касается энергопотребления, то с ним тоже все понятно — даже в стресс-тестах на пике оно не доходит и до 400 Вт, так что качественный БП на 500 Вт даже с запасом. Как это сочетается с прекрасным аппетитом Core одиннадцатого поколения? Прекрасно сочетается — в современных условиях процессоры «едят» сколько дадут, а не сколько смогут. Поэтому и возможно увеличение производительности за счет простого повышения лимитов энергопотребления, но если их не трогать (в данном случае такой возможности и нет), то удается, в частности, и обойтись простым и недорогим кулером, оставаясь в тихом режиме. Основной потребитель энергии и источник шума — видеокарта. Но, опять же, модели среднего класса ведут себя относительно пристойно и по шуму, и по энергопотреблению, не заставляя страдать массового покупателя.

Немного о производительности

Почему немного? Потому, что ничего эксклюзивного в конструкции нет, а как работают такие процессоры и видеокарты давно уже известно. Впрочем, повторить пройденное всегда полезно. А чтобы было хоть немного, да интересно, в качестве ориентира для сравнения мы возьмем ноутбук MSI Katana GF66 11UG на восьмиядерном процессоре Core i7-11800H (против наших шести ядер Core i5-11400F) и с видеокартой Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop. Последнее слово в названии существенно — это специальная модификация 3070 с ограничением TDP 85 Вт. Поэтому такие модели заметно медленнее настольных RTX 3070 — а как производительность соотносится с куда более дешевой настольной RTX 3060, как раз и интересно оценить.

Видно, что конкурировать с пусть даже сильно изувеченной для впихивания в ноутбук RTX 3070 модели с меньшим номером крайне сложно. Но иногда и это получается — в зависимости от характера нагрузки недорогой игровой десктоп может обогнать более дорогой игровой ноутбук. А если где-то и проигрывает, то, в основном, там, где небольшая разница в частоте кадров ничего существенно уже не меняет. Шумит при этом меньше, стоит дешевле. Прочие ноутбуки с RTX 3070 еще дороже (MSI Katana GF66 11UG в своем сегменте как бы не самый дешевый), а RTX 3060 Laptop, естественно, уже не выдержит конкуренции по производительности. Если необходимо мобильное решение, то с этими недостатками придется мириться. А если нет — то и не за чем.

Что же касается производительности в приложениях общего назначения, то Katana GF66 11UG на треть быстрее: 163 балла интегрального рейтинга против 118 (чуть ниже, чем в эталонном тестировании Core i5-11400F, поскольку кое-где мешала одноканальная память). Процессор все-таки восьмиядерный, да и TDP его в этой модели сконфигурирован на те же 65 Вт, что и в десктопе. Понятно, что при одинаковых ограничениях восьмиядерный Tiger Lake гарантированно более эффективен, нежели шестиядерный Rocket Lake. Для исправления ситуации нужно и эту серию компьютеров переводить на Alder Lake. Вот тогда был бы практически паритет — несмотря на разницу в количестве ядер. Со временем мы наверняка увидим такие изменения, а пока просто напомним, что основное применение компьютеров серии Infinite — массовые игровые системы. Конкретно с этой задачей он справляется не хуже более дорогих ноутбуков, но сам стоит относительно недорого. А обновление платформы будет обязательно — просто в этом классе оно происходит с большей задержкой, чем в более дорогих.

Итого

В принципе, основное замечание сформулировано чуть выше: пора менять платформу — какой-нибудь Core i5-12400F заметно быстрее, чем i5-11400F и вообще намного лучше себя чувствует в условиях ограниченного энергопотребления. При этом рекомендованные цены практически не изменились, так что (опять же — формально) примерно одинаково должны стоить и компьютеры аналогичного уровня хоть на LGA1200, хоть на LGA1700. А второе с потребительской точки зрения интереснее, да и перспективнее. Однако вся эта «интересность» в реальные розничные цены как правило заложена изначально, так что выбор не столь однозначный. Равно как и конкуренция с игровыми ноутбуками — те же MSI Katana GF66 11UG и 12UG (второй уже на Core i7-12700H) в ДНС продаются, например, сейчас за 150 и 170 тысяч рублей соответственно, а MAG Infinite S3 в такой конфигурации, как побывала у нас на тестировании — за 110 тысяч рублей, что сопоставимо с ноутбуками на базе RTX 3060 (именно в ноутбучной модификации) и тоже Core i5. Собственно, одна лишь видеокарта такого уровня начинается где-то с 55 тысяч (конкретно MSI Ventus 2X стоит 57 тысяч), т. е. полцены компьютера и больше. За оставшееся собрать что-нибудь подобное реально, но потратив определенное время. Что-то лучше — уже обойдется дороже в деньгах, да и тоже надо будет прорабатывать вопрос, что купить и на чем сэкономить. А можно и просто пойти в магазин — купить готовый ПК, установить операционную систему и приложения и спокойно им пользоваться. Игровой ноутбук, несмотря на весь прогресс в этой области, опять же, будет либо заметно дороже, либо заметно медленнее. Поэтому подобные игровые десктопы чувствуют себя на рынке очень хорошо — позволяют сэкономить время и не переплачивать. Хотя с технической точки зрения они все не слишком интересны для изучения — как уже сказано, здесь нет никаких эксклюзивных решений, топовых компонентов и т. п. Зато есть адекватные цены за адекватные же конфигурации.
